:Fan backlash is one of two or three reasons cited by the writers in one of their BotCon panels (and presumably earlier as well). The "not G1" part in particular is probably exaggeration. There definitely are isolated instances of fans claiming that movie/post-movie isn't G1, but I doubt that is a "reason" for her having been pulled. Megatron followed the All Spark to [[Earth]], where he successfully crash-landed in the Arctic Circle and was frozen solid for thousands of years. In 1897, some 100 Earth-years before the arrival of the other Transformers, he was discovered by an explorer named [[Archibald Amundsen Witwicky]]. Captain Witwicky accidentally activated Megatron's navigation system and caused the coordinates of the All Spark to be etched onto the explorer's glasses. Megatron remained imprisoned in the Arctic, until the 1930s, when he was dug out by the United States government and moved to a secret [[Sector Seven]] stronghold inside [[Hoover Dam]].

In the present day, having searched the galaxy for the All Spark and being drawn to Earth, the remaining Decepticons learn of Witwicky's glasses. Through the Internet, they determined the location of both Megatron and the All Spark inside Hoover Dam. [[Frenzy (Movie)|Frenzy]] infiltrated the dam and shut down the power systems, while Starscream attacked the external powerlines, resulting in Megatron's thawing out. Once again online, Megatron declared his name (to clear up all that N.B.E.-01/Ice Man nonsense) before jetting off after the All Spark again. He met up with Starscream on the outside, and berated him for his failure to secure the All Spark.

Upon arriving in [[Mission City]], he killed [[Jazz (Movie)|Jazz]] by tearing him in half, then ordered the Decepticons to engage. At that moment, Optimus Prime appeared and challenged Megatron. Millennia in the ice had done nothing to lessen the animosity between the two, and flew at Prime at full speed. After crashing threw a building (with Prime barely holding on), Megatron declared that if Prime wished to defend the Humans, he would "join them in extinction". After temporarily dispatching Prime with his cannon, Megatron persued [[Samuel James Witwicky|a particular human]] who removed the All Spark from the dam. Unfortunately, this human was saved by Optimus Prime. Prime declared that their war would end here, and the two brothers engaged in a vicious battle. : In robot mode, Megatron's sculpt is quite accurate, or as accurate as a toy based on his CG design can be. However, his paint decoration is quite inaccurate, with blue highlights on various parts of his body, possibly to allude to his pre-frozen state and to give a relatively monochromatic figure more color. More confusing is his jet black face, which obscures the sculpt's details and is inaccurate to the movie appearance's gunmetal.

: Megatron's right fist disconnects at the wrist to become the spiked end of the extendable "chain whip" weapon concealed within his forearm (perhaps in homage to [[Megatron (G1)|G1 Megatron]]'s own flail weapon); pressing the black switch on the arm pulls the chain taut for a whipping attack. His arms also link together at the wrists to form a "fusion cannon," with the pod on his left forearm concealing the weapon's [[Automorph]]ing twin barrels, exposed by pulling a switch. Well, the Convoy Council and the Maximal Elders would appear to be the same thing, and Great Convoy is always shown in the forefront of the Convoy Council (he lead the strike against Unicron in Neo). Not sure how the US interpretation of the High Council relates to Japan's Convoy Council, though. Lio Convoy and Big Convoy are shown to be a part of the High Council in The Gathering, though they're most-certainly well-beneath the rank of Great Convoy and the Convoys shown with him in Neo. : Well, technically, we already have a non-Convoy Council Maximal Elders already, in the Universe books. There, the Maximal Elders consist of Magnaboss, Airhammer (I think), and some other BW guys. Those werent' the Maximal elders. Thwy were 'The High Council.' (Not identified as Maximal or Pred.) Since the Decepticons were so badly short-staffed during their early days on Earth, Skywarp was usually involved in whatever crazy plot for universal domination Megatron was hatching. When the Decepticons escaped the Burma operation with a cache of energon cubes, Skywarp requested permission from Megatron to teleport in order to scare off Autobot pursuers. Teleporting behind the strangely-airborne duo of [[Ironhide]] and [[Bluestreak]], Skywarp pasted the ornery old Autobot with a heat-seeking missile, knocking him out of the sky that he probably shouldn't have been able to fly around in.

Skywarp continued to serve the Decepticons for many more years, never really doing anything notable. He was first to fall victim to an invention developed by [[Wheeljack]] that allowed Teletraan-1 to briefly take control of his body. [[Chip Chase]], a human ally of the Autobots, planted the device on Skywarp's ankle in the thick of battle. He then set about a chain of systematic betrayals in order to gain access to that power. He set loose [[Buster Witwicky]], whom the Decepticons had been holding prisoner, with equipment that would lure the Autobots to the Decepticon's [[Antarctica]] base. The ensuing battle served to distract his fellow Decepticons as he then stole a ship from [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] to look for the Underbase. {{storylink|Cold War!}}

Upon finding it, he began absorbing its power but was unable to finish the task as he was interrupted by Ratbat's ship, piloted by a temporary Autobot/Decepticon alliance. Starscream's remains were delivered to Megatron, who kidnapped [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] to rebuild Starscream with a powerful [[Pretender]] shell. {{storylink|Resurrection Gambit!}} Megatron ordered Ratchet to wipe Starscream's mind, so Starscream would wreak havoc on Earth among the Decepticons (led by [[Scorponok (G1)]]) and Optimus Prime. Ratchet, however, let his true mind to be only suppressed. One good blast caused enough pain to revive the real Starscream. Completely outmatched, he surrendered and begged Scorponok for forgiveness.

''Briefly after becoming a Pretender, Starscream began to wallow in self-pity, believing that all the other Decepticons considered him a joke for his many failed take-over attempts and defeats. His self-esteem crumbled every time the other Decepticons refused to speak to him or spoke about him behind his back. In reality, the other Decepticons were terribly frightened of Starscream (thanks to that whole Underbase thing) and were avoiding him so they wouldn't be killed. Starscream sulked about it for a while until he defeated and captured a few Autobots and his confidence began to return. ''

Starscream fled [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] with [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] in the [[Ark]] after [[Unicron]]'s assault. Shockwave and Starscream found Megatron and Ratchet awakening from the [[Nucleon]], both very confused and addled due to their mind-link. Ratchet collected enough sanity to direct one of Starscream's null-rays into the Nucleon, causing enough of a chain reaction to send the Ark into a crash-landing on Earth, once again resulting in Starscream's deactivation.

Megatron revitalized Starscream who then, predictably, betrayed Megatron and the Decepticons once again. This time by giving [[Jhiaxus]] and his troops information that allowed them to take control of the Decepticon's [[Warworld]]. Starscream then double-crossed Jhiaxus, stole the [[Creation Matrix]] (which Megatron had stolen from Prime earlier) and used its powers to merge himself with the Warworld, becoming an unstoppable force of destruction. As Optimus Prime and Megatron entered the possessed ship to try and stop him, Starscream discovered firsthand the dangers of stealing the Matrix as it rewrote his programming to better suit its own tastes. As a result, Starscream soon became a snow-white boy scout with no mounted weapons that would never hurt a fly and went out of his way to help old ladies across the street. (More or less.)

He fervently hopes the effect is only temporary.

Starscream was the Decepticons' second-in-command. He was rash, boastful, cowardly, and even whiney. Millions of years before the war between Autobots and Decepticons would force both sides off Cybertron, Starscream was not a warrior but rather a scientist. He and his colleague [[Skyfire]] were exploring an unnamed planet - the ancient [[Earth]] - when severe atmospheric conditions separated the two friends. Starscream circled the globe looking for Skyfire, but he never found his colleague. After the outbreak of war, Starscream and his fellow Decepticons would become entombed on the same alien world for four million years before emerging to continue their battle on Earth, with Starscream reformatted as a terrestrial F-15 fighter jet.

Starscream's rash and spiteful actions led to the resurrection of the Autobots on Earth, when a blast intended to trap the Autobots there forever caused Optimus Prime to fall into the life giving rays of Teletraan-I, who soon had all his fellow Autobots ready for action again. Starscream would always demand action rather than waste time with planning, often calling Megatron a coward or taking action himself without waiting for the order. Needless to say, this got him nearly killed by Megatron on more than one occasion.

Starscream's status probably came from the fact he had command over the other [[Seeker|Jet Fighter Decepticons]], which formed pretty much 50% of the entire Decepticon force at the time of the first and second seasons. Megatron, very desperate for troops (especially ones who were so predictable), kept Starscream around.

Starscream's ambition was also great, and often sought to take command away from Megatron. One such attempt was to challenge him to a duel, and shoot him in the back when he turned away laughing. His "Victory" here was short lived, as Megatron was just stunned, shot Starscream, and banished him from his forces. This led Starscream to "create" the [[Combaticon]]s, from a bunch of wrecked army vehicles he found on the island he was deserted on, and some Decepticon "Brains" he stole from the Decepticon Prison. Megatron let him, and his newly formed army, back into the Decepticons soon afterwards, despite the fact they were all Decepticon outcasts and criminals.

Starscream's thirst for leadership led to his death in ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]'', when, during the Decepticon's dramatic siege on [[Autobot City]], Megatron would fight his final battle with Optimus Prime. By the end of it, the Decepticon leader was battered beyond repair, left on the verge of stasis lock. Starscream, who if nothing else can see an opportunity in every situation, took advantage of this moment of weakness to rally the healthy Decepticons that remained after the battle, ejecting the "dead weight" of his wounded former comrades into space. Starscream, with transparent satisfaction, threw Megatron out personally, before closing the door on that part of Transformers history and beginning an inter-Decepticon brawl that would eventually place him at the head of the ranks.

Starscream couldn't have known, of course, that Megatron would be found and reshaped by the godlike [[Unicron]] before his Spark faded completely. Reborn as [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], he made it his first order of business to take back what Starscream had taken, interrupting the pompous and overblown coronation Starscream had set up for himself and killing him with a single, terrible blast, likely setting a record for the shortest reign in Decepticon history.

This was not the end, however, as his ghost came back, with "cunning" schemes. First he possessed [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], and handed Galvatron over to [[Rodimus Prime]]. Rodmius didn't kill or even imprison Galvatron however, and he came back angered, and shot his second in command, not realizing he had not been himself. Starscream had already found a new host in [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] by this time, whom he used in his next "master plan". This one involved making deals with Unicron, who requested Starscream help him find new body parts, in return for a new body for himself. Starscream followed his orders exactly, until his host ran off before his could connect Unicron's head to Cybertron as a new body. This is where Starscream showed his "true cunning", stating that if Unicron wanted him to connect him to his new Planet, he would have to give him his new body first. Unicron did so, repeating his request to finish connecting his head to his new body, however Starscream turned on him immediately, telling him mockingly to do it himself. At this point, the Autobots set off a load of explosives, unaware of these turn of events, that sent Starscream, in his new body, spinning out of control through space, past Galvatron and his crew (Galvatron took this chance to fire at what he thought was a ghost), and never to be seen again.

One last thing to note is Cyclonus's line after the last glimpse of Starscream: "Hey, since when have ghosts spun out of control through space?"

====Japanese manga====

Between the events of "Starscream's Ghost" and "Ghost in the Machine" the 5th issue of the Transformers 2010 manga (simply called "The Transformer") takes place. In this story, Starscream's ghost teams up with the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]] who build him a powerful new body. The new body, equipped with attacks such as "Right Arm Destron Gun" and the "Revolver Laser", was created using a combination of Optimus Prime's and Megatron's designs. The result is [[Guiltar]].

Guiltar joins the Decepticons and quickly becomes Galvatron's right-hand man (literally, in like, 5 seconds). Galvatron compliments Guiltar on his power and loyalty, and instinctively, Guiltar beats the crap out of Galvatron and declares his ambition to take-over the Decepticons. Rodimus Prime and Galvatron call a truce and join forces to defeat Guiltar. They wreck him something fierce, destroying his body and forcing Starscream's ghost out. They then end the truce and go about their business.

Shortly after the attack began, the two captive Maximals broke out and drove the Predacons out of the Axalon. Starscream fled, pursued by Primal, and abandoned Blackarachnia to her fate. After a spirited chase, Primal cornered Starscream at an [[energon]] deposit, paralyzing him. As he tried to bargain his way out of his predicament, his vengeful ex-partner Blackarachnia detonated the energon, blowing Waspinator to scrap and forcing Starscream's spark out of his body.

Starscream went head to head with another time-displaced transformer, [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]] only to find himself defeated once Optimus Prime arrived as back-up. Beast Megatron, arriving on [[Smokesniper]], saved Starscream from a crashing into the ground but quickly chucked him aside after lamenting over the Decepticon's worthlessness.

Later, Beast Megatron discovered a large deposit of solitarium beneath [[New York City]] and ordered the Decepticons to tear the city apart. Starscream, Smokesniper, [[Gigant Bomb]] and [[Wingstun]] did just that, blowing up buildings and razing a good portion of the Big Apple. Starscream was then shot out of the sky by another time-displaced Autobot, [[Reverse Convoy]]. He awoke when the rest of the Decepticons did, and took part in their attempts to gather [[energon]] and escape the planet [[Earth]], which he loathed for being too "flat". It was he and [[Reflector]] who spotted the first "potential Autobot", when in fact they had discovered the planet's native inhabitants, two [[human]]s, in an unliving vehicle.{{storylink|More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1}}

One of the few things he seemed to loathe even more than the world he was stranded on was the attitude of his commander, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]. That was not, however, entirely the end of Thundercracker's story. Skywarp was one of [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron's]] troops who attacked the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] during its mission to clear a path for [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] through an asteroid field. He was deactivated when it crashed on [[Earth]], and he lay dormant for four million years. When he and his fellow Decepticons awoke, Skywarp was given a new [[altmode]], that of an Earth jet. {{storylink|The Transformers (comic issue)}} He aided the Decepticons in their building of their new base constructed of parts from [[Harrison Nuclear Power Plant]] and joined in their attack on [[Sparkplug Witwicky]]'s auto repair shop. Skywarp was one of the elite Decepticons that accompanied Megatron in infiltrating the ''[[Ark]]'' four million years ago. After crash-landing on Earth, the Decepticons and [[Autobots]] laid dormant for four million years, until volcanic activity stirred them into consciousness. Skywarp was the first of the Ark's Transformers to be reformatted and awakened by [[Teletraan-1]]. Now an F-15 fighter jet, Skywarp next dragged [[Megatron]]'s body into the reformatting rays of the Ark's computer.

Since the Decepticons were so badly short-staffed during their early days on Earth, Skywarp was usually involved in whatever crazy plot for universal domination Megatron was hatching. This included attacks on an off-shore oil rig, [[Sherman Dam]] and the [[Ruby Crystal Mines of Burma|ruby crystal mines of Burma]]. When the Decepticons escaped the Burma operation with a cache of energon cubes, Skywarp requested permission from Megatron to teleport in order to scare off Autobot pursuers. Teleporting behind the strangely-airborne duo of [[Ironhide]] and [[Bluestreak]], Skywarp pasted the ornery old Autobot with a heat-seeking missile, knocking him out of the sky that he probably shouldn't have been able to fly around in.

Skywarp continued to serve the Decepticons for many more years, never really doing anything notable. He was first to fall victim to an invention developed by [[Wheeljack]] that allowed Teletraan-1 to briefly take control of his body. [[Chip Chase]], a human ally of the Autobots, planted the device on Skywarp's ankle in the thick of battle. Skywarp's teleportation power did come in use when he was needed to sneak up on the Autobots (who were all in vehicle mode) and zap them with the [[transfixatron]].

In 2005, Skywarp was badly injured during the battle of [[Autobot City]]. Though he escaped with the rest of his comrades aboard [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]], he was tossed out into space with other badly damaged Decepticons part way to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] so that the rest would be able to make it home. Skywarp's body was gathered by [[Unicron]] and, among others, used to make [[Galvatron]]'s new warriors. Interestingly, it's entirely possible that 'Hot Rod' was present at this battle and he's reciting this.
