Rook
:Rook is a Mini-Con agent of Unicron from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Rook is the Mini-Con partner to Sideways, servant to Unicron. His job is to serve as a spy and saboteur, and sow discontent among the Mini-Cons. He's a charismatic, bold-faced liar with no scruples whatsoever, who enjoys playing mind games and setting others up for a fall. And if they need a push, the combat-trained Mini-Con will give them one. He'll happily destroy someone he "promised" to help without the slightest hesitation.

Fiction
Armada cartoon
When Sideways came to Earth and Transformed into robot mode for the first time, his rider split in half and Rook covered Sideways's head, revealing his Autobot insignia. Crosswise vanished from the scene. Gale Rook continued to serve as Sideways's head covering until Sideways chose to switch factions. Then Rook launched off of Sideways's head, Transformed into Crosswise, and returned to Sideways's shoulders. Credulous

Rook was among the other Mini-Cons in Dualor's sanctuary in the Moon. As Megatron was destroying the base, Rook left in a escape pod. Dreamwave Armada issue 11

After the failure of Dualor's plan and the Autobots taking in the refugee Mini-Cons, Rook lectured to the other Mini-Cons, saying that they were still treated as a commodity. Thus, they should break all ties with the Autobots. To give the Mini-Cons confidence in the Autobots, Optimus Prime promised to Rook that the Autobots would help find some of their members that were lost in the devastation of Dualor's sanctuary. Fire & Ice

After the arrival of Unicron's heralds, all of the Mini-Cons were gathered to make the return to Cybertron. When the Decepticons arrived, Rook immediately assumed they had been set up by the Autobots. The End

By inserting the robot-mode arms into holes in Sideways' torso, a faction sigil is displayed in Sideways' chest. He also forms the upper half of the combined Mini-Con robot Mirror (unnamed in the Hasbro line) with Crosswise.

: The original Hasbro Sideways setup had Rook as the Decepticon-sigil-revealing head, but an error in the television series' animation depicted Crosswise as the Decepticon head and Rook as the Autobot head. Hasbro made a running change so the toy reflected the series' faction alignments. This change did not affect Rook's individual toy in any real capacity, since they simply changed the sigils on Sideways' chest-plates around. The Takara version uses this setup, and has no significant differences from the Hasbro Rook.
*Rotorwash Rumble (multi-pack, 2010)
**Accessories: Two-part rotor/spinning combat blade

: A redeco of Blazemaster, Tailwhip transforms into a white and black Eurocopter Dauphin helicopter with Hong Kong police markings. The top propeller can be spun using a gear-driven action by pressing the small translucent purple button just under it. The tail rotor cannot move.

: In robot mode, the top rotor can be used as a spinning weapon, or split in half to sit on both arms. There are some issues with this, however, as the propeller does not like to sit in the position shown in the instructions (it tends to rotate down) and the second piece does not fit snuggly into its socket, which has one side open to accommodate conversion. There are also a pair of thumbs inside the engine cowling that converts into Tailwhip's arms, despite not having actual hands. Tailwhip was only available in a Target exclusive two-pack with a dark pink version of Arcee.

: This mold was also used to make Revenge of the Fallen Evac.

Notes
*In a case of either a color change after the prototype stage or Photoshop-ery gone wrong, the stock photos of Tailwhip on the back of the "Rotorwash Rumble" packaging depict neon green in place of all the final toy's yellow paint.
*For some reason, Tailwhip's Decepticon faction insignia sport tiny "™" trademark symbols next to them. As the symbols commonly show up this way on toy packaging, presumably someone grabbed the wrong file during production. The "™" symbols however do not appear in the stock photos of Tailwhip depicted on the back of the box, most probably because the stock photos use a hand-painted prototype.
*For some reason,Tailwhip & Hunter's rumble Barricade are both designed after Hong kong police vehicles, there is a possible connection but it isn't certain what.
Fiction
:Voice actor: Neil Ross

Wildrider was sent, along with the other Stunticons and Toxitron, on a mission to break Megatron and other Decepticons out of Trypticon Prison. In the guise of entertainers, they planned to rig the former Decepticon Gladiatorial Arena in Kaon with explosives, blasting the prison walls open and killing the audience in the process.

All was going well until the Stunticons were abruptly assaulted in mid-rehearsal by Cheetor, who opened fire on the disguised Decepticons. Once the Autobot cop settled down, the rehearsal continued under Wildrider's careful direction. Drag Strip reluctantly played the role of a damsel in distress, cornered by three Decepticons, unsuccessfully rescued by Toxitron, but then truly rescued by the appearance of a great big holographic Sentinel Magnus head.

On the night of the plan's execution, Sideswipe and Cheetor returned in the middle of the show, having worked out the Stunticons' plan. The Stunticons fought back with their stolen modifications, with Wildrider and The Motor Master roughing up Sideswipe. The two cop-bots were cornered, but Toxitron leapt into the fray, knocking out the structural supports for a giant ramp and sending it crashing down on the Stunticons. Toxitron turned out to actually be a disguised Optimus Prime, who revealed their plan to everyone watching. Wildrider was incarcerated in Trypticon Prison, alongside the very Decepticons he and his teammates had sought to free. The Stunti-Con Job

Founded by Isaac Sumdac, Sumdac Systems is the Earth's foremost producer of automatons. Headquartered in Detroit, Michigan's Sumdac Tower, Sumdac Systems produces a fantastically wide range of automatons, with functions ranging from law enforcement to janitorial work to entertainment. Thanks to a series of mergers, Sumdac Systems owns a number of facilities across Detroit, including the abandoned car factory the Earthbound Autobots call home.

Unknown to anyone but Isaac Sumdac himself, however, is that he owes his success to Megatron, whose body he scavenged and reverse-engineered.

Known employees
* Isaac Sumdac - founder/CEO
* Porter C. Powell - chairman of the board/CEO (former)
* Henry Masterson - engineer (fired by Sumdac, brought back by Powell, then fired again by Sumdac)
* Spike and/or Carly
* Matt Conroy and Eddie Fairchild

Fiction
Transformers Animated cartoon
Sumdac Systems was founded by Isaac Sumdac using technology he reverse engineered from Megatron's severed head. Over the next fifty
years, Sumdac Systems came to dominate the robotic market it had created, becoming the backbone of Detroit's economy. Transform and Roll Out

Sumdac Systems' protoype turbo-blade cyber suit was appropriated by Megatron, who gave it to small-time hood Nino Sexton.
Using Isaac Sumdac's stolen financial information, he paid the criminal to use the suit to rob a Sumdac facility of the unstable experimental compound Destronium. While the Autobots eventually apprehended Sexton, the Destronium was destroyed. Nanosec (episode)

Sumdac Systems has a notable zero-military hardware policy. Isaac Sumdac is rather adamant about this, no matter how "wicked sweet" explosions are, nor how much "total ownage" would result. Headmaster (episode) However, the company does have contracts with the Detroit Police Department, including fully armed police drones. Isaac Sumdac doesn't seem to find this a contradiction. Total Meltdown

In the wake of Professor Sumdac's disappearance, board member Porter C. Powell was rather cold-hearted towards his daughter's "wasting" of company resources to try to locate him (never mind the fact that the company depends on his brain for their products). The second she stepped out of the office, he began a hostile takeover and had the board name him CEO. He also took the liberty of disproving that Sari exists, legally. What a charming fellow. The Elite Guard

As CEO of Sumdac Systems, Powell reversed several of Isaac Sumdac's policies, notably his "no military hardware" rule. He also lowered the recruitment criteria for Sumdac Systems, proved by his re-hiring of former employee Henry Masterson, who was not only insane, but had also tried to blow up Michigan a while back. He also banned the Autobots from Sumdac Tower. No Autobots allowed, but terrorists welcomed, apparently. Yeah, that's certainly not going to be something to regret... The Return of the Headmaster

Notes
*The Sumdac Systems emblem (seen in the lobby of Sumdac Tower), bears a superficial similarity to the 'S' emblem of the DC Comics villain Slade/Deathstroke as portrayed in the Teen Titans cartoon, which incidentally was a previous project for many of the staff of Transformers Animated. It also resembles the 'C' icon of 'Cybus Industries', a mega-corporation from the TV series Doctor Who. Like Sumdac Systems, Cybus is run by a reclusive genius and has its hand in (amongst other technologies) some very advanced servo-mechanics. The emblem also looks almost identical to the S insignia of the Sphere in the cartoon Skyland, which bears little resemblance to Sumdac Systems apart from extensively using robots. Also resembles the logo of Ninja Red from Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (the S is apparently for Saru, Japanese for Monkey), who also makes extensive use of robots, in his case, giant robot monkeys.
As a robot, it is among the most posable of all Generation 1 toys. It is also notable for being among the very few insect Transformers to have all of its beast mode legs folded away and out of sight in robot mode.
Notes
* Barrage, like all of the Deluxe Insecticons, was designed and originally produced by Takatoku Toys for inclusion in their Armored Insect Battalion Beetras toyline (機甲虫隊ビートラス). Decoed in black and grey, the mold first saw release under the name Beet-Gadol. Takatoku Toys went out of business a short while later in 1984, and their assets were purchased by fellow Japanese toymaker Bandai. At that time, the American market was one Bandai was not very active in, which made it a competitor of Takara, but not of Hasbro. Due to this, the company had no objection to licensing various Takatoku molds to Hasbro in 1985 for sale in the American market primarily as part of their version of the The Transformers toyline. Nowadays, Bandai has a worthwhile interest in every market and since it only once licensed the molds, there is little likelihood that Chop Shop and company will ever be put up for reissue.
* Since Hasbro and Takara shared the Generation 1 cartoon as promotional material for their respective versions of the toyline, Barrage and the other Deluxe Insecticons were not included in its cast to avoid giving Japanese market-competitor Bandai free publicity. The group was also omitted from the US Marvel comics and barely appeared in the UK Marvel comics, making them the least "successful" of the Takatoku molds. This trend has continued in fiction since, the team's current highlight being their role in the Micromasters comics.
* Poor Barrage was one of several Transformers that never got a Transformers Universe bio. One was written by Budiansky but was rarely seen until it was put on the Disciples of Boltax blog.
The evil Tailwhip traps his Autobot victims in the crushing vortex generated by his spinning blades. His latest target is Arcee...and if she can get a decent shot off at his rotors, she'll be his last.

*There may be a connection between Tailwhip & "Hunters Rumble" Barricade, both being designed after Hong Kong police vehicles.

Perceptor is head of the Autobot Ministry of Science, and thus one of the finest minds on Cybertron. His high-caliber analytical skills help keep Autobots one step ahead of the exiled Decepticons in their technology. He frequently works with Wheeljack on special projects.

:Voiced by: PlainTalk (English), unknown speech synthesizer (Japanese) (See Notes)

Millions of years ago, Perceptor participated in "Project: Omega", attempting to create a living weapon of mass destruction that would serve as the Autobots' last hope for defeating the Decepticons. The end result of the project was Omega Supreme. During the final stages of the project, Perceptor explained to field tech Ratchet that Omega had been designed with a simple processor and would require a mentor-bot to guide his actions. Having inherited the activation codes to Omega from the mind-wiped Arcee, Ratchet was thrust into this mentor position, and followed Perceptor's directions to bring Omega online. TransWarped

Perceptor was given the data downloaded from the programming of the captured Decepticon Starscream and ordered by Ultra Magnus to initiate project Safeguard. He expressed concern regarding the risks of implanting Decepticon programming into an Autobot shell, and so was instructed by Ultra Magnus to find an expendable test-subject to offset the danger. Eventually, two suitable subjects landed in his lap, a pair of split protoforms who had been injured working in an energon refinery. While Wheeljack reinforced the two Autobots' structures to withstand the upgrade, Perceptor reverse-engineered the Decepticon flight codes and passed them to Red Alert for the data-merge. Though the resources of the Ministry of Science were sorely strained by this project, it eventually yielded Jetfire and Jetstorm.

During the twin Autobots' training, Perceptor put the downloaded data from Starscream to further use, upgrading the aging combat simulator they had at their disposal to represent Decepticon battle tactics more accurately. Unfortunately, Starscream's programming proved rather potent, and Perceptor lost control of the simulation. The twin Autobots were forced to fight their way out, finally allowing the scientist to terminate the simulation. First (and Second) in Flight

Perceptor and Alpha Trion, representing the Autobot High Council, were none too pleased by Sentinel Prime's eagerness to return to Cybertron and proclaim himself the new leader. They warned him that he would not be able to bypass the usual council procedures, and to prove it they revealed to the general public details of the transfer of power that Sentinel had preferred to keep secret. During Sentinel's inauguration parade, Perceptor and Alpha Trion were standing right behind him as the crowds cheered. Decepticon Air

When Megatron brought Omega Supreme back to Cybertron, Perceptor was caught in the midst of the debate over what to do about the gigantic ship. Sentinel Prime wanted to destroy it immediately, but Ratchet vigorously opposed this, pointing out that destroying Omega Supreme risked destroying Cybertron as well — and that even if it didn't, it would still be wrong to attack a fellow Autobot and friend. Perceptor was inclined to believe Ratchet, and acknowledged that Ratchet knew even more than he himself did about Omega Supreme. Perceptor and Alpha Trion deliberated on the proper course of action, though their ponderings were made moot when Sentinel took the law into his own hands and attempted to destroy Omega. He failed, but the members of the Autobot High Council were very upset (or at least, Alpha Trion was upset, what with his still having emotions and all). Perceptor then reassured Ratchet that even though Arcee had been abducted by Shockwave, the damage done to her central processor by the EMP was irreversible and there was no chance the Decepticons could ever awaken her. He was wrong! This Is Why I Hate Machines

Notes
* Perceptor's character model was finalized and approved on April 1st, 2008. Aaron Archer, discussing this at 2008, wanted to make it very clear to the fans that this character was definitely not a prank.
* Perceptor is "voiced", so to speak, by an electronic speech synthesizer, rather than an actual, living actor, as an homage to his fellow super-genius, Stephen Hawking. It's a wee bit skeevy if you stop and think about it, really.
*Responding to a question about Perceptor's unusual voice in an interview, Animated character designer Derrick J. Wyatt suggested that Perceptor "deleted his emotions and personality to make room in his hard drive so he could be even smarter".
** This was later confirmed by The AllSpark Almanac II where it is said he "deleted most of his personality subroutines to leave more room for science".
