Brawl's main distinguishing characteristic is '''VOLUME'''. No matter if he's talking {yelling}, moving {clanking and rattling}, or fighting {yelling, clanking, rattling, and blasting) you're sure to hear him doing it, as is anyone else in the county. As if that wasn't enough, he also a ball of barely contained rage and violence with a hair-trigger temper. This makes even his comrades wary, but it does make him a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield... as long as the mission doesn't require stealth. Or zero casualties.

Brawl combines with his fellow Combaticons to form [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]].

On his first mission on Earth, Brawl was tripped up by a bunch of vine creatures, crystallized, and blown to smithereens. Luckily for him, this was all in [[Afterdeath!|virtual reality]]. Unluckily for him, Brawl learned nothing about caution from this experience. A few days later, he mouthed off at [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. Megatron proceeded to pop Brawl's head like a ripe melon.

He got better.

===Animated continuity===
Brawl was one of several [[Renegade Decepticon]]s who went against [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and had his [[personality component]] removed and placed in storage. After [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] was booted out of the Decepticons, he stole the personality components of the Combaticons, including Brawl. Brawl was less then greatful to his liberator, and threatened to pound him, until Starscream revealed that he had "forgotten" to install energy converters into them. The Combaticons, including Brawl, decided to bide their time. {{storylink|Starscream's Brigade}}. After being banished to an asteroid, the Combaticons managed to tow it to Cybertron, and evict [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]. Brawl would have prefered to just shoot the hell out of the Decepticons and Earth, but [[Onslaught]] managed to rig the [[space bridge]] to drag Earth into the sun. However, the Combaticons were later attacked by mysteriouys aggressors. Although the Combaticons were confused by their appearance, Brawl figured that they should just annihilate them. As it turned out, the aggressors were holograms created by Starscream and Shockwave, who the Combaticons captured. Once Megatron, as well as the [[Autobot]]s, arrived, the Combaticons merged into Bruticus, but [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] deactivated him. The Combaticons were reprogrammed to serve Megatron. {{storylink|The Revenge of Bruticus}}

After the Combaticons were damaged by [[Defensor]], [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] sold them to [[El Presidente]]. Under threat of death by Megatron, Swindle stole back the parts of his unit. However, he was unable to find Brawl's personality component, preventing the Combaticons from merging into Bruticus. It was eventually recovered, but it does pose a question: why does Bruticus depend on the personality component of a loud, homicidal maniac to form? {{storylink|B.O.T. (episode)|B.O.T.}}

Brawl participated in [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]'s siege on Iacon. {{storylink|War Within}}. As part of a combiner group, his actions were somewhat limited by the [[Crisis Intervention Accord]]; it is unknown how he occupied his time while the Accord was in place. {{storylink|The Dark Ages, Part 3}}

Millions of years later, when [[Sunstorm (G1)|Sunstorm]] appeared on Earth, the battered Combaticons were ordered by Starscream to combine into Bruticus and deal with the crazed zealot. It did not end well.

The repaired Combaticons were brought to the Guadalcanal where they could hone their somewhat lackluster combat skills and listen to Starscream's long-winded aspirations of glory. When Swindle commented on Starscream's mental state, Brawl agreed, stating that he'd like to pull the Air Commander's Cerebro circuits straight out of his faceplate so they could get a better look at them. Starscream over hears their conversation, but lets it pass in order for them to fight the magnificent Autobot [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]]. Unfortunately, the Combaticons do not fare well when the crafty Autobot splits into his two forms, with Brawl and Onslaught nearly crushed by the Lynx's right paw.

This was the least of their troubles, however, as [[Predaking]] showed up as soon as Sky Lynx was deactivated. This encounter also did not end well. {{Storylink|The Route of All Evil}}

: Brawl transforms into a green Leopard 1 main battle tank. In vehicle mode his armament is supplemented by a large dark gray anti-aircraft gun mounted of the back of the tank's hull. In robot mode Brawl is armed with a small dark gray gun.

: Early releases of Brawl used painted die-cast metal for his chest and leg-mounted tank treads. This was later replaced by color-cast plastic. Brawl was redecoed with bright green and purple camo. Presumably this is so he can hide in the same forests as [[Megatron (G1) toys#Generation 2|Megatron]].

==Trivia==
* Brawl's animation model was used multiple times (in both robot and tank modes) as generic Decepticons in the ''[[Armada]]'' cartoon.
* At some point or another their were plans for a War Within version of Brawl planned for the 6" [[Titanium]] line as was seen in Wal-Mart computers. Plans of this item are unknown, now that the Transformers Titanium line is cancelled.
