We don't list the Japanese Micromasters here. We probably should. (Even though they're the same toys as the American ones, they are separate characters, with different allegiances, personalities, and such.) Or, we can ditch the list entirely, and replace it with categories. JW 16:30, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Fixed the trivia point as the name "Micro Transformers" was used for the packaging of the first Patrols. Which makes it an early name variant rather than a mere "working name".--Nevermore 14:09, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
:Um, I may be very much mistaken, but weren't the Micromaster toys sold as 'Microtransforemrs' in Japan? Which is a idea distinct from Micromasters? ::Speaking of the Micro Transformers logo: How does the logo on the GiG packaging differ from the US/Euro packaging? All initial Patrols had the Micro Transformers logo, and later GiG Micro releases featured the standard 1989+ Transformers logo... That trivia information about them using it all the way is not valid, to my knowledge... --212.10.154.35 05:52, 27 September 2009 (EDT)

Same character or not?
Should the Japanese characters be seen as distinct from their Western counterparts or not? Some article treat them as such, some not, thus on the one hand leading to separate articles for the same toy and on the other hand to some articles simply stating that the Japanese ones are "bumbling and precocious".

Pro Separation:
* Some do not only have distinct personalities, but also distinct names, like Pīpō and Fixit.
* Especially those who are Autobots in the West and Decepticons in Japan can hardly be treated as different incarnations of the same character.
* The introductory section should be written continuity-neutral. This is not always the case due to the totally distinct characterizations. And, for example in the case of Oiler and others, it is not really right to state that they are members of the Metro Squad, because, well, in Japanese continuities they aren't. But on the other side many Micromasters are non-fiction characters in the West, so where else to put it if not in the introductory section?

Contra Separation:
* There's not really much to write about all the Japanese Micromasters beside their "precocious and bumbling" stuff.

Ah, yeah, and is it "precocious" or "precious"? The latter doesn't really make any sense (or?), but can be found way more often. --2A6 20:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
:"Precious" is correct, and in this context means "cute to the point of being a little annoying".
:The Micromasters who were Decepticons in the US and Autobots in Japan should have separate pages. They're different characters.
:Those who did not change allegiance should be treated as the same character who happens to be very different in two different continuities, and should be handled like on Blaster's page, with an explanatory note.
:All of this is just my opinion, of course. JW 20:15, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

::Okay, I can totally live with that. But I guess the guys with two names should also be treated as separate characters (Fixit/Pipo, Seawatch/Boater etc.) even though they didn't switch sides?
