Bumblebee questions his worthiness to his team after he is compromised.

Synopsis
Optimus Prime and Ratchet stake out a Vehicon mining operation overseen by Megatron. Optimus isn't about to let Megatron have whatever gave off the signal that led him and Ratchet here, and he confronts Megatron just as the Vehicons break earth and hand the package to him. Megatron advises Optimus to stow his weapons; the device they've unearthed is a deadly spark extractor, capable of sapping the spark from the body of every Cybertronian in its radius. He takes the opportunity to gloat about how Optimus—ahem, Orion—led him to it before stepping through the GroundBridge, and ordering the Vehicons to hold Ratchet and Optimus off. Close by, Bumblebee speeds over a cliff and through the attacking Vehicons, before driving into the GroundBridge. He transforms and grabs the package from Megatron's hand, before turning around and bolting. Megatron runs after him, but upon arriving outside the vortex, finds his troops destroyed and all three Autobots gone.

Back at base, Bumblebee brags about his vehicular acrobatics. Ratchet informs Optimus of the reason for the Autobot homing beacon on the device—it was sealed away in Iacon during the war, but was jettisoned offworld when the Decepticons raided the city. Arcee asks if Optimus remembers if he transcribed any other coordinates, but Optimus regrets that he does not. Ratchet posits that Megatron said he decrypted multiple targets to play havoc with Optimus' psyche.

On the Nemesis, Megatron laments over the loss of the spark extractor, and regrets that he did no more than destroy Bumblebee's voicebox back on Cybertron. Soundwave reminds Megatron that there are still two contacts on Earth to investigate.

On the road, Bumblebee sounds off to Bulkhead to rendezvous with him at the coordinates of the new distress beacon. Upon arriving, however, the only device present is an upright beacon. Suddenly, Bumblebee is stunned by a large electrical blast, and he falls unconscious. Silas and a MECH team emerge from the shadows, including a MECH Surgeon who starts work on Bumblebee. Unseen by the troops below, Starscream arrives and transforms on an overlooking cliff. As MECH spots Bulkhead incoming, the surgeon finishes his work, and the team departs in a helicopter. Bulkhead arrives and asks Bumblebee who did it, but Bumblebee doesn't recall. Bulkhead advises pursuit, and transforms to roll—but Bumblebee doesn't. Antsy at the hold-up, Bulkhead asks Bumblebee why he's not transforming, and Bumblebee replies that he can't.

Back at base, Ratchet scans Bumblebee and discovers that his T cog is missing. The Autobots quickly work out MECH is behind it, and Optimus tells Bumblebee he's going to have to rely on his friends for a while. Bumblebee is very depressed. Optimus is worried about what Megatron might unearth next.

MECH install Bumblebee's T cog into the robot they've built, but when they power it up and have it scan a helicopter, the robot is unable to transform. Starscream, who has been spying on them, reveals himself and proposes an alliance. He explains the T cog requires energon to work. He intends to supply MECH with information on energon so they can work out a way to find energon deposits.

Bumblebee is making a pain of himself bugging Ratchet, who asks Raf and Miko to keep him busy. Unfortunately all of their entertainment reminds Bumblebee of his missing vehicle mode. Raf makes another attempt to make Bumblebee feel better, but is undermined by Arcee and Jack racing into the base at high speed. Ratchet has to stop Bumblebee from going out for a walk, but feels guilty at his inability to fix his fellow Autobot.

Some time later, Ratchet picks Raf up outside school, much to the boy's discomfort.

On monitoring duty, Bulkhead detects a signal, and Bumblebee insists on going with him to investigate.

Raf asks how Bumblebee's voice box was damaged, and Ratchet tells how Bumblebee was captured at Tyger Pax and given a working over by the Decepticons. Though a field medic saved the scout, it wasn't enough to save his voice box.

Bulkhead and Bumblebee track the signal to a cave. Knock Out soon comes barreling out, closely followed by Breakdown. While Bulkhead tackles the latter, Bumblebee attempts to chase Knock Out on foot. He soon finds he can't even transform his arms to deploy his guns, and is forced to continue the pursuit by using an old truck as an impromptu go-kart. Unfortunately it loses a wheel, and as Knock Out speeds off with the pilfered device, Bumblebee is sent flying off a cliff.
*We first heard about Project Chimera in "Operation: Breakdown", the events of which Starscream also makes mention of. Here we finally see what the project is—an attempt to create a MECH-designed Transformer.
*Old pickup truck Bumblebee uses to chase Knock Out was seen in Con Job.
Decepticon reinforcements arrive, and the hunt is on for a new weapon.

Synopsis
The Autobots and Decepticons are fighting on a beach as something huge moves into range. The ground begins to shake, causing everyone to stop fighting and look up in wonder. The ship crashes into the surf, and Thrust announces that Tidal Wave has arrived from the planet Dabola with reinforcements. Megatron asks for a demonstration of Tidal Wave's abilities and, at Thrust's urging, the ship opens fire on the Autobots. Smokescreen attempts to line up a shot, but is injured by weapons fire. Jetfire and Starscream clash above the battlefield. Hot Shot and Blurr link with their Mini-Cons, diving into the ocean to attack the ship from below. Thrust attempts to take out Jetfire, who transforms to robot mode, grabbing Thrust for a power-dive into the sea. Unfortunately the Decepticon becomes invisible long enough to escape. Jetfire turns his attention to the Decepticon ship in an attempt to draw its fire, but soon realises he's no match for its fire power.

Explosions rock the huge ship as Hot Shot and Blurr begin firing on it from beneath the waves. The pair grab the side of the ship, pushing it over before sharing a celebratory high-five on its upturned hull. Thrust flees as they turn their weapons on him. Back at base, the kids celebrate, but the alarm soon sounds for the detection of two new Mini-Cons, which means the Autobots now have three to collect. Alexis is confused, however, by the reported location of the Mini-Cons. At that moment, the Street Action Mini-Con Team run in and tell the kids that one of the detected Mini-Cons is located somewhere on the base. Rad, Carlos, Billy and Fred run after the three Street Action Mini-Cons.

In the caves around the base, a Mini-Con storage panel glows, as does another in a crevasse on the Moon. The third one pulses, lying on the sand of the beach where the Autobots and Decepticons are battling.

Megatron looks disgusted that Thrust's reinforcements have sunk, and the Decepticon tactician calls out desperately to Tidal Wave.

Alexis works out one of the Mini-Cons they're searching for is on the Moon. Sideways promptly appears on the monitor, saying he's impressed she figured it out and that he's got a message for them. The three Mini-Cons can unite to form the Requiem Blaster, a weapon with massive destructive power. He says the Autobots must find the Mini-Cons to win their current battle, which puzzles Alexis as the Autobots appear to be winning. Red Alert thinks there's some merit to what Sideways has said.

The Autobots are indeed on the verge of winning their battle when the ground begins to shake once more. A huge robot emerges from the ocean—Tidal Wave. The massive robot opens fire on the Autobots, and Alexis realises that Sideways was right.

The kids trudge through the caves after their Mini-Cons, with Fred complaining loudly. Finally he gives out a cry and the others discover he's fallen through the rock floor, revealing a flight of stairs.

Meanwhile, the Autobots are still pinned down on the beach. Optimus and Jetfire powerlink to launch an attack on Tidal Wave.

The kids find the first of the Space Mini-Con Team, Sky Blast, and introduce themselves.

Jet Optimus loses his weapon and is blasted by Tidal Wave while trying to retrieve it. He drops into the sea as the Decepticon laughs.

The kids are confused as Sky Blast takes a step back and fires at High Wire. The Mini-Con runs off, despite their protests, and they give chase.

Back on the beach, the Autobots fire on Tidal Wave to allow Optimus time to escape. He's able to get to cover, but the Decepticon turns his weapons on the other Autobots instead. With the Autobots taken care of, Tidal Wave returns his attention back to Optimus, looming over him while the Autobot leader can do no more than hide behind a boulder.
Jack and Arcee undertake a dangerous mission on Cybertron to access Vector Sigma, while Orion begins to rebel against Megatron.

Synopsis
Jack and Arcee walk through Kaon, guided by the light of the Key to Vector Sigma. They come upon a circular clearing, and the key glows intensely, indicating that they must be close. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake, and cracks appear in the surface. The duo watch in awe as a passageway rises from the ground, its door illuminated the same as the Key. It opens, but just as the two are about to enter, an enormous creature rears up from atop the passage. Arcee's Autobot symbol catches its eye, and it charges her, Arcee's minute strength doing nothing to injure it. She is quickly incapacitated, and the creature notices Jack, giving temporary pursuit until distracted by Arcee. Jack radios Ratchet and is told that the creature is an Insecticon, one of many sentries left to guard the dead Cybertron. Arcee tells Jack to go, to his surprise, but he realizes the necessity. As he enters, the door closes behind him.

On the Nemesis, Megatron inquires as to Orion's progress on Project Iacon. Orion says it's tough work, but Megatron says otherwise, revealing to him that all of his unsanctioned research has been recorded. Orion takes the opportunity to ask about his reported affiliation with the Autobots, but Megatron merely tells him to get back to work. Orion decides that enough is enough, and erases his progress in the archives. Megatron laughs, and shows the clerk that he has been recorded and documented in his pursuits. Soundwave intrudes, to show Megatron that one of their sentries came online on Cybertron. Orion asks how anything is alive on the planet, but Megatron tells him to continue his work-or be terminated.

Back on Cybertron, Arcee tangles with the enormous bug, but is no match for its brute strength. Finished with her, the Insecticon turns its attention to the fleshling, and breaks its way into the tunnel.

In the depths of the tunnel, Jack hears a familiar noise, and uproots a metal bar for protection.

Back on the Nemesis, Megatron reviews the reports with Soundwave. He learns of the space bridge's activation, its endpoint, and the fact that it is still active. He quickly deduces the Autobots' plan.

In Cybertron's gullet, Jack arrives at the chamber of Vector Sigma. He proceeds to the center of a circular platform, where he places the Key. The entire chamber begins to transform and glow with the Key's energy, and the enormous supercomputer reveals itself, and begins to transfer its energy to the Key.

On the Nemesis, Orion is hassled by the guards. He appeals to their "good nature", saying that he believes Megatron will use the information he is agglomerating for nefarious purposes. Good-old fashioned police brutality ensues as the helpless clerk is kicked and punched by his guards.

In the chamber, Jack is antsy about the speed of his download. His problems lie beyond his dial-up, however, because behind him, a horde of Scraplets has just taken notice of the very alive metal before him in the form of the Key to Vector Sigma. Jack is helpless to fend them off, and they begin to snack on the download port. He reports frantically on his position to ground control

In the space bridge chamber, however, the Autobots have bigger fish to fry as Megatron steps out of a GroundBridge to them. Ratchet vows to protect their charges, and the battle begins, Megatron easily flooring every Autobot, Ratchet and Bulkhead twice.

On Cybertron, Arcee awakes to find a Scraplet chewing on her foot. She blasts it off, and notices the opened passage—and the absent Insecticon. Transforming, she speeds into the passageway.

Jack valiantly smashes the Scraplets as they feed, but is unable to stop their progress towards the Matrix. Another problem presents itself behind him in the form of the Insecticon. It charges towards him, but stops in its tracks, staring at the key. Jack realizes why, and the Scraplets suddenly become a blessing. He formulates an idea, pulling a Scraplet off the Key and pointing it at the aggressor. The Insecticon turns tail as it realizes what's happening, but the Scraplets give chase and latch on, quickly chewing through the giant insect as it falls to its doom, limbs disconnected. The download completes, and Jack retrieves the key. Arcee finally arrives, and the two depart.

The Vehicon guards continue to beat down Orion, and one of them lets slip that it's a privilege to beat the former leader of the Autobots. Orion pleads with them to stop, and in his defense, he accidentally transforms his arms into blasters. Realizing they're in trouble, the guards fire on Pax, but he quickly dispatches them both.

Arcee and Jack arrive at the space bridge portal, and radio Ratchet about their position. Total silence on the comm tip them off that something is wrong, and, undetected on the other end of the portal, Megatron waits to end the lineage of the Primes. However, he is surprised by the sudden arrival of Orion Pax, who vows that, no matter what his heritage might be, his spark is aligned with the Autobots. He deploys his blades, and charges for Megatron, but is quickly defeated. Megatron says that he has much to learn, and prepares to kill him, but Arcee speeds through the bridge and collides with him, sending them both flying. In the light of the bridge, Jack presents the Key to Orion, who hesitates, but accepts his destiny.

The Key begins to upload the Matrix to its host. Megatron, preoccupied with fighting Arcee, notices this, and desperately runs at him. However, Orion Pax—now Optimus Prime—isn't ready to go down again, and trounces his enemy. A GroundBridge portal opens up, and the Autobots retreat.

At base, the Autobots and humans rejoice at their reunion. Noticing his Decepticon symbol, Optimus asks Ratchet what had happened. He replies that it was their darkest hour, but at every point along the way, Optimus was truly an Autobot at spark.
Continuity notes
*The scraplets seem a lot nastier in this episode, chewing so fast as to render a hulking robot limbless in a matter of seconds. This is not an error, as many factors could contribute, such as the scraplets' inability to find living metal on the barren Cybertron and the ancient state of the Insecticon.
*Optimus still has the broken sword from waaaaay back in "One Shall Fall". It would seem that the Decepticons neglected to repair it.
* Ratchet references The Transformers: The Movie by referring to an event as "our darkest hour", as he did before in "Darkness Rising, Part 5".
* Bulkhead calls Megatron a "bucket head", a reference to the original Megatron.
* The Insecticon's insect mode resembles a large rhinoceros beetle, like several other Insecticons.
*Seen through the Scraplets' point-of-view, the sphere of Vector Sigma is seen in its faceted orb appearance common to many continuities.

Real-world references
*Bulkhead's line bemoaning the Scraplets on Cybertron is a paraphrase of the oft-referenced "Why did it have to be snakes?" line from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Trivia
*Interpret it how you will, but Fowler and June's shared glance seems to hint at a deeper meaning. Maybe Jack's mom has got it going on?
*Look closely at the arena circle in Kaon: it's the same arena as seen in "One Shall Rise, Part 3". Ironic that Vector Sigma lied beneath Megatron's feet at that moment.
Starscream, Hot Shot and the rest continue their pursuit of Thrust, arriving at a portal to a strange organic area. The rest of the Autobots gather to fight Unicron.

Synopsis
In the mysterious tunnels within Cybertron, the kids explain to Hot Shot and Wheeljack that it was Starscream who brought the kids to where they are. Hot Shot advises the kids to return to the Axalon where it's safer, but the kids argue they can be useful, eventually convincing their gigantic metal pals. The group radios back to Optimus Prime with their status, while Billy and Fred feel neglected.

Meanwhile, Jetfire and Hoist continue to order Autobots to withdraw from their positions. Blurr relays to Jetfire orders from Optimus Prime to assist Hot Shot and Wheeljack below. Galvatron is satisfied with the Autobots' retreat, allowing his forces to easily take over Cybertron.

[[Image:Sshot-71-1-face.jpg|right|175px|thumb|Face hugger. (Allspark-type-hugging)]]
Thrust, still running from Starscream, dives through a strange portal. Starscream bravely follows into the unknown. On the other side, in an organic-looking area with Transformer husks around, Sideways finally appears. Starscream arrives soon after. Next, Hot Shot's group prepares to follow through the portal, Alexis making sure to put on a good luck charm first.

Sideways and Starscream come face to face. As is tradition, before the battle, Starscream declines an offer to join up with Unicron's side of the conflict. Sideways attacks Starscream with a swarm of bot-spiders. Hot Shot's team runs to assist, but Wheeljack and Hot Shot are attacked by more of the parasites.

The kids try to rouse the Mini-Con weapons into freeing themselves from Thrust's possession, and whistling from Perceptor helps the effort. Thrust and Sideways ignore the kids and leave, their tracks covered by tendrils. With no other options, Hot Shot and Wheeljack connect their backs and form a completely silly looking cyclone. Alexis lets Starscream join the team because she's Starscream's friend.

Sideways plugs the Mini-Con into Unicron's core processor, angry at Thrust for having not grabbed the Star Saber.

As the team moves through the caverns, they run into more suspiciously organic obstacles, separating Starscream and Alexis from the rest of the crew. Starscream goes airborne to fly Alexis to safety, but Alexis (stupid) hops off Starscream (really stupid) to retrieve her good luck charm she dropped (very stupid). Starscream saves her.

Everybody manages to make their way to the surface, finding themselves to be on Cybertron's moon. The surface shatters and quakes, with Jetfire arriving just in time to save Hot Shot, Wheeljack, the Mini-Cons, and the kids. From a distance, it becomes evident that Unicron has been gestating inside of the Moon from the start. On Cybertron's surface, Wheeljack departs. Starscream begins to depart as well, but Alexis stops him, begging him to stay. Starscream thinks it wouldn't be fair if he betrayed them again, but Alexis knows he wouldn't do that. Starscream ponders to himself for a moment before turning back to her and thanking her for trusting and believing in him. As he leaves, Alexis says his name sadly and clutches her pendant.
Differences with Micron Legend
Animation and technical errors
*In the first shot of Thrust, he isn't carrying Skyboon shield Requiem blaster.
* Carlos calls Grindor "Sureshock", and later Alexis refers to Sureshock as "Grindor".
* When the kids speak to Optimus Prime, the neck segments of their space suits are missing.
* Encountering Sideways in the organic cavern, Wheeljack's face is grey for a second.
* Rad spies on Thrust holding the Requiem Blaster, the blaster is colored like part of Thrust.
* When Hot Shot and co. are fleeing from the wave of acid, his thighs are gray for a moment instead of black.
* When Alexis jumps off Starscream, her visor frame is colored greyish instead of pink.
* When Wheeljack turns his back on Hot Shot at the end, his back looks nothing like it should.

Continuity errors
* Alexis's explanation about Starscream escorting the kids is perhaps a strong exaggeration of Starscream briefly encountering the kids last episode.

* Alexis says her necklace is made from a Cybertronian's rock, but wouldn't it make a lot more sense if it were made from the rock Starscream brought back from Mars? As seen in the next episode, given its importance to her and its relationship to Starscream, this is likely a dubbing error.

* When they mention the crumbling moon, they look up at Cybertron.
With Optimus in the repair bay, Jetfire is the Autobots' best hope against the Decepticons.

Synopsis
Optimus Prime has been badly damaged in a recent battle with the Decepticons, and the prognosis is uncertain. Red Alert tells the kids that Jetfire will take over Optimus's role while the leader is in the repair bay. Hot Shot is not impressed by Jetfire's overconfident bragging, and neither are the kids.

Demolishor is also unimpressed, but at the failure of Thrust's plan. Starscream and Cyclonus are merely amused by its failure, and Thrust blames it on a miscalculation in the form of Jetfire. He says he'll come up with a new plan and takes some shooting stars as a sure sign of victory.

The Autobots discuss Thrust and how he led the Decepticons to victory on the planets Vector, Orga and Duke, almost wiping out the Autobots. Carlos thinks that while they have Jetfire on their team, they don't have anything to worry about on that score. High Wire attempts to report to Jetfire, but the Autobot doesn't speak Mini-Con, and Rad has to translate that there's a suspicious bot flying over the base. They soon recognise Thrust, and Jetfire immediately runs off to confront the Decepticon.

Thrust takes off as soon as he sees Jetfire coming, goading the Autobot into following. Unsurprisingly, they reach a zone where the Decepticons are waiting, and the kids plead with Jetfire not to fire on the swarm of Mini-Cons accompanying them. He assures them he won't and shoots at Cyclonus, who protests that Thrust said the Autobot wouldn't fire with the Mini-Cons around. Thrust orders the Mini-Cons to attack, and soon Jetfire is being strafed with laser fire. Starscream closes in, but Jetfire is able to dodge the null laser cannon.

At base, the Autobots puzzle over how they're going to help Jetfire, when Alexis spots an island near where the battle is taking place. Smokescreen, Hot Shot and Blurr warp to the island, and Smokescreen prepares to fire his longarm cannon, but is blasted by Demolishor and Sideways. Demolishor boasts that Thrust's plan is to steal the Skyboom shield and opens fire on the Autobots, who are forced to use the shield for cover.

Scavenger, still at base, admires the Decepticons' trap, but the kids think he should take action. Rad contacts Red Alert in the repair bay, informs him of the situation, and lets him know they need Optimus.

Megatron arrives on the island and tells his men to get on with it and demand the Shield from the Autobots. At Hot Shot's goading, Megatron calls the Star Saber to him and begins the attack anew. Hot Shot suggests they should withdraw. Smokescreen is confident the Skyboom Shield will protect them, but the other two Autobots talk him into withdrawing. The trio begin their escape, hampered by the Decepticons' weapons fire.

Jetfire attempts to come to their aid, but is surrounded by the Air Military Mini-Con Team and is again almost blasted by Starscream. He flies towards the Decepticon, but is grazed by a blast from the null laser cannon. Again surrounded by the Mini-Cons, he's unable to take a shot at Thrust.

Red Alert reports that Optimus is almost combat ready, and Carlos stresses the urgency of the situation.

On the island, Megatron has Smokescreen pinned down while Blurr and Hot Shot are busy with Demolishor and Sideways.

While Red Alert and Scavenger are about to join the battle, an alarm indicates that someone's in the launch area: Optimus Prime! Though Red Alert and the kids protest that he's not ready, Optimus asks to be warped to Jetfire's coordinates.

As Thrust and Starscream prepare to finish off Jetfire, Optimus appears overhead. The Autobot leader freefalls towards Jetfire, and the pair combine. After making short work of Starscream, Optimus flies to the island and knocks Megatron into the ocean. For an encore, he picks up Demolishor and drops the protesting Decepticon into the water as well. Sideways wisely retreats. The impressed kids cheer.

Optimus suggests to Jetfire that he might want to be a bit more cautious next time, to which the Autobot says he's learnt his lesson.
Notes
Differences with Micron Legend
* Although numerous minor changes were made to the animation in Micron Legend, "Linkup" is one of the most prominent examples. Multiple scenes were completely redrawn and reanimated with higher quality animation, in comparison to the Armada airings. Among the changes: problems such as Jet Optimus being drawn in his Super Mode colors, along with having the wrong legs, have been fixed, while numerous close-up shots were also redrawn.
* Convoy was in the repair bay for maintenance and was told not to leave to help Jetfire as the maintenance was incomplete and a lot of his important systems had not been rebooted.

Animation and technical errors
*When Smokescreen says, "It's Thrust?" he lacks his antenna/horn. He's missing it again when the Autobots are looking at Thrust on a monitor, a third time when he says, "Optimus sir", and a fourth time when the Autobots are laughing at the end.
*When Thrust states that he didn't think Jetfire would actually attack, Thrust is colored orange instead of black.
*In the overhead shot of Hot Shot, Blurr and Smokescreen retreating, Smokescreen doesn't have the Skyboom Shield.
*Thrust refers to the Air Military Mini-Con Team as the Air Defence Mini-Con Team (who are busy being the Star Saber).
*The combined form of Optimus and Jetfire is referred to throughout as "Jet Convoy", the Japanese name for Jet Optimus.
*Jet Optimus is drawn incorrectly twice. When firing at Starscream, his chest is colored red instead of white, and has a Decepticon insignia. Later, when Jet Optimus is landing on the island, he is shown with his lower body being his trailer, instead of it being Jetfire.
*Multiple times, Carlos's eyes have whites.

Continuity errors
*Optimus didn't really seem so badly damaged at the end of "Tactician" that he'd require a whole episode in the repair bay.
