Allicons are another breed of the Quintessons' enforcer-units, often used as guards for more important members of the race. They are slightly smarter than the Sharkticons, even capable of speech, but free will has been pretty thoroughly removed from their programming, to the point where they will malfunction if resisting a direct order.

They transform into somewhat alligator-like creatures.
A group of Allicons intercepted Kup and Hot Rod when the two Autobots were lost on Quintessa. Kup used the Universal Greeting and offered them energon goodies, which made the Allicons friendly... until the goodies ran out. Oops. The Allicons subdued the two Autobots and took them to the Quintessons' court chambers, tossing them into the cell next to Kranix. The Transformers: The Movie

A single Allicon later served as the guard for a Quintesson scientist who kidnapped Ultra Magnus, Cyclonus, Marissa Faireborn and Wreck-Gar. When the captives escaped, it dueled Wreck-Gar with a spear until the Quintesson's ship started being dragged into a black hole and the whole group had to work together to escape. When the Quintesson tried to flee in the only escape pod and everyone else tried to stop him, the Allicon just blanked out as it couldn't disobey its orders. Eventually they all escaped from the black hole, and the Allicon and its master went off on their own. The Killing Jar
Trivia
* The script for the movie originally called for the Allicons' scene to feature Sharkticons, but we got these critters instead. Neither in this scene, nor in any of their reappearances during the series were they referred to by name - the script for The Killing Jar identified them only as "Quintesson Guards." The creatures were given the name 'Allicon' years after the fact in Dreamwave's 2004 More Than Meets The Eye series.

A spark is the lifeforce, or soul, of a Transformer. Each spark is part of the essence of Primus himself.

The spark is a physical entity which is safeguarded inside a Transformer body. If something harms the spark beyond repair, it is "extinguished," and returns to the Allspark. The Transformer is then considered dead. A Transformer is able to survive an enormous amount of physical damagem-as long as their spark is intact, it is possible to repair or rebuild their body and restore the spark to it.

Establishment in fiction
The concept of the spark as currently understood was introduced to the Transformers mythos in the Beast Wars episode, "The Spark". In this episode, little is explained except that each spark is unique, and that every "Cybertron" (here meaning, essentially, "Cybertronian") has one.

The later episode, "Possession", dealt with the idea of sparks, but the spark in questionm-that of Starscreamm-is established as being aberrant, and thus the properties it displays are not neccessarily characteristic of sparks in general. However, "Possession" was the first time it was claimed that characters from the Generation 1 series also had sparks, rather than sparks existing in Beasties only. Sparks remained prominent throughout Beast Wars, and events in seasons two and three further established the retcon that Generation 1 Transformers all possessed sparks.

In Beast Machines sparks became central to the story, as Megatron had abducted the sparks from every Transformer on Cybertron. Megatron's own spark displayed unusual behaviors in this series, and again, these behaviors can probably not be assumed to apply to all sparks. Still, Beast Machines contributed more information about sparks to the canon than any other series.

The Generation 1 cartoon occasionally referenced a device called a laser core which seemingly has a similar function to a spark. The tech spec bio for the Beast Rider, Mechatron, says that he is "outfitted with an upgraded spark-capture claw that can tear out the entire laser core of any Transformer defender." This implies, as some fans had speculated, that the laser core may be some sort of housing for the spark.

Since the introduction of the spark in Beast Wars, sparks have become an integral part of many Transformers fictions. Sparks have been featured in new Generation 1-based series, and in later alternate-dimension tales such as the Unicron Trilogy's Armada and Energon.

Although the word spark does appear off-handedly in some Generation 1 comic stories (a "spark of life", a "life spark", and the phrase "For as long as a spark exists within a single Mechabot..."), these were clearly simply metaphorical statements. They can be retroactively seen to, perhaps, refer to the contemporary concept of a Transformers' spark, but did not on their own establish anything of the sort.

Properties of sparks
As seen in the image at the top of this article, sparks normally appear as blue balls of energy with a pulsating center composed of smaller, blue spheres. The center spheres are engulfed in a reddish glow. An ever-changing pattern of "electricity"-like lines travel around the surface and through the interior. However, in Beast Machines, the sparks of the Maximal heroes who had been reformatted took on different colors (for example, Blackarachnia's was green). This was first visible in "Revelations Part I: Discovery". At the end of that series, after being infused with extra power from the Matrix (cf. Allspark), their sparks became visible, as if part of their torsos were translucent.

Beast Era Transformers seem to have permanent "spark chambers" within their chassis where the spark can be seen simply by opening the chamber. Older Transformers within the same G1/Beast continuity family, such as those who lived before the Great Upgrade, did not seem to have this feature in most continuities. The G1 More Than Meets The Eye guidebook from Dreamwave specifically states that a spark is normally "suffused" throughout a Transformer's body rather than residing in any particular place. It may be that this is also true after the Great Upgrade, and that the spark chamber is merely a protected location for the spark to coalesce when needed. Meanwhile, making things more confusing, the cutaway diagrams of G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide include spark chambers.

In the Beast Wars cartoon, there were two cases of Beast Era Transformers temporarily housing the sparks of G1 Era Transformers in their own bodies while still housing their own sparks. In both cases, this resulted in the Beastie undergoing a mutation of sorts into a more powerful body: Optimus Primal, upon taking the spark of Optimus Prime, grew into his Optimal Optimus body; and Megatron, upon taking the spark of the original Megatron obtained his dragon form. However, based on the information from the series, there is no basis for determining whether this phenomenon is a result of a single body housing two sparks, a Beast Era body housing a G1 Era spark, a body being implanted with an especially "powerful" spark (like those of Optimus Prime and Megatron could conceivably be), or some combination of these. When the disembodied spark of Starscream had earlier possessed Waspinator, the only change was in the body's allegance holograms from Predacon to Decepticon.

Although Transformer memories and personalities are generally treated as if they are stored within the Transformers' computer brains, repeated canonical instances have established that a spark will (or can) hold all of an individual's memories, along with their "essence" or personality. Further, there is some evidence that sparks may even retain records of the Transformer's previous bodies (such as when Optimal Optimus, whose body originated with a blank protoform, regressed into a copy of the gorilla body Primal wore at the beginning of the Beast Wars). A Transformer's behavior can be modified through programming of their mechanical body (referred to as a shell program), but this is always a struggle between the programming and the "true" nature of the spark within. It may be that over long periods of time, a spark may begin to internalize some aspects of a programmed personality.

Many Transformers, such as Sky Lynx, G1 Omega Supreme, and the Duocons, simultaneously inhabit multiple mechanical bodies or components. The character bio for Magmatron mentions this ability of his, and categorizes his spark as a "mitotic spark" which is able to split, sharing itself between his three beast modes. It is unknown whether other multiply-bodied Transformers also posses mitotic sparks, or if they are examples of something more mundane such as simple remote control.

Some Transformers are able to sense and communicate with the sparks of other Transformers through a process that appears analogous to telepathy. According to dialog from "Revelations Part III: Apocalypse", this ability is related to the sparks' mutual connection to the Allspark. Disembodied sparks are sometimes able to communicate through this same method. (See below.)

The radiation emitted by energon crystals is harmful to sparks, even when protected within a Transformer's body. Certain body types are better able to shield the spark from energon radiation. For example, the flesh-like beast modes adopted by the crews of the Axalon and Darkside provided essentially 100% protection, allowing operations -- while in beast mode -- in environments that were practically forests of energon crystal. Direct contact between crystalline energon and a spark is highly dangerous.

In the Beast Machines episode "Spark of Darkness", Rattrap describes Megatron's disembodied spark as a ball of electrons. He goes on to say that normal sparks contain a large number of positrons. Based on his dialogue, it is possible, but not certain, that sparks are composed entirely of positrons. Rattrap also indicates, in "Revelations Part I", that when a spark is extinguished, carbon scoring is typically left on or within the Transformer's chassis.

Regardless of their composition, sparks are not insubstantial energy, but have some sort of physical aspect. This is clearly demonstrated in, again, "Revelations Part III", when Nightscream is seen attempting to push Blackarachnia's spark back into her body. His hands press against some sort of surface (or perhaps merely a force field, in which case the spark could be entirely energy) which is above the visible surface of her spark. Later in the series, in "Spark of Darkness", Megatron's spark is also shown to have physicality. Further back, in Beast Wars, the spark of Rampage/Protoform X would respond to being "crushed" by Megatron by flattening slightly inside its energon-lined carrying case. And even the spark of G1 Megatron was "grabbed" physically by a tentacle-like appendage of BW Megatron's. While some of these examples may be special cases as they deal with sparks that have unusual properties, those properties are unique to each spark. The weight of evidence, then, is in favor of sparks being at least partially substantial.

In the Energon cartoon, sparks were shown to have the ability to be somehow augmented by Primus to become a Combination Spark. This allowed two Autobots to powerlinx together into a new form, allowing one Autobot to take command of the fused body while the "pants" remained dormant. Without the Combination Spark, a powerlinx between two normal Transformers cannot be completed. It is not stated whether the combiner teams Constructicon Maximus and Bruticus Maximus also possessed Combination Sparks or if their ability to combine has some other origin.

Disembodied sparks
Sparks are able to exist outside of a Transformer body, but the parameters of this phenomenon are largely unclear. In is unknown for how long a spark can survive under such conditions, although they are vulnerable to damage in this state. It is also unknown whether a disembodied spark is "conscious" and aware of its surroundings, and whether it is capable of moving under its own power. (There are unusual cases, as described under Aberrant sparks.)

It is hard to imagine how a spark could be aware of its surroundings when stripped of all sensory mechanisms. Indeed, in "Revelations Part III: Apocalypse", while Blackarachnia's spark was outside of her body, her consciousness did not remain in the "real world". Instead, she experienced a conversation with Optimus Primal -- not a hallucination -- which took place in an abstract "higher plane of existence", perhaps within the Allspark itself.

Most of the disembodied sparks in Beast Machines drift slowly and largely directionlessly. In many other cases, sparks seem to move with some sort of intent. However, aside from attempts of sparks to re-enter their "home" body, these are conceivably all "special cases" and may not be generalizable. In one example, the sparks of Tigatron and Airazor are seen following Tigerhawk to Earth in "Other Victories". While their sparks appear normal when this occurs, they later merge into a single white spark and then inhabit the (then-empty) Tigerhawk body. This is not normal spark behavior, and may be related to the time they spent seemingly in stasis with the Vok. Also, in "Revalations Part III", when Blackarachnia becomes panicked during her telepathic conversation with Primal, her spark begins moving erratically and has to be chased down by Nightscream. However, it is unclear whether the spark was moving with intent -- especially since Blackarachnia's consciousness was portrayed as still being on a higher plane -- or simply zigging and zagging randomly. And, again, a reformatted spark may be different than a normal spark anyway.

Aberrant sparks
Some sparks have exhibited properties or behaviors that do not seem to be generalizable to other sparks.

Starscream
As established in the Beast Wars episodes "Possession" and "Bad Spark", Starscream possesses a "mutant" immortal spark. Even when his body is destroyed, his spark is not extinguished. This explanation retcons the appearance of Starscream's ghost in some season three episodes from the G1 cartoon -- the "ghost" was in fact Starscream's disembodied spark.

Starscream's spark was able to move under its own power, and seemingly travelled not just across space from Cybertron to Earth, but backwards through time from 2006 to human prehistory. It may be that the time travel was accomplished by "falling" through the transwarp hole left by the Axalon and Darkside when they arrived on prehistoric Earth -- Depth Charge's ship arrived there by that method later in the series -- but this is uncertain.

Additionally, Starscream's spark was able to take possession of other Transformers simply by entering their bodies. While in another body, Starscream's will completely dominates that of his host. When Starscream possessed Waspinator, Waspinator's voice even changed to sound like Starscream's, and the Predacon insignias on his body changed to Decepticon insignias. Starscream either did not have, or did not seem to know that he had, this possession ability until he died during the events of The Transformers: The Movie.

Rampage / Protoform X
The creation of Protoform X was an experiment conducted by the Maximal Elders to attempt to replicate Starscream's indestructible spark. Although they succeeded in creating such a spark, dubbed Protoform X (and later taking on the name Rampage), it was, unfortunately, psychotic.

Like Starscream's spark, Rampage's could not be extinguished through simple destruction of his body. In fact, Rampage's body -- at least, the body he wore during the Beast Wars -- had uncannily rapid self-repair functions. In one instance, Depth Charge pierced Rampage's body from front to back with a spear, and the damage disappeared in a matter of seconds once the spear was removed.

Megatron devised a way to split Rampage's spark by carving it with a blade of energon crystal. Amazingly, this did not destroy the spark, nor did it seem to weaken Rampage appreciably. Megatron kept part of the spark in a case lined with energon crystals. By squeezing the case, the crystals would pinch the spark fragment, and Megatron used this to torture Rampage into obedience.

Megatron later placed this piece of Rampage's spark inside his Transmetal II clone of Dinobot, who is usually referred to as Dinobot II. Dinobot II appeared to have a personality wholly independent of Rampage's, although he was similarly brutal. Dinobot II's personality, however, may have been imposed upon him through programming. Dinobot II could torture Rampage by compressing the spark fragment that he held, much as Megatron had previously done. This did not seem to affect Dinobot himself.

Rampage's spark turned out to not be completely indestructible -- seemingly as an extension of Megatron's splitting of the spark with an energon blade, Depth Charge eventually destroyed Rampage by piercing his spark with "pure" crystalline energon. Normally sparks "extinguish" somewhat peacefully, but when Rampage's was pierced, a powerful explosion destroyed the bodies of Rampage and Depth Charge. It may be that Starscream's spark would be similarly vulnerable to being cut / destroyed by energon, but this is mere extrapolation.

When Rampage's spark was destroyed, the fragment within Dinobot II did not explode. It may have simply disappeared, or it may have remained there. However, through a process which is not clearly established, Dinobot II at that instant "reverted" to the personality of the original Dinobot, and even had a vision of Dinobot's last moments. It may be that this reversion was related to events scripted for an episode which was never produced, titled "Dark Glass".

Rampage's spark never displayed the ability to move under its own power.

Megatron
In season two of Beast Machines, Megatron's spark does a number of unusual things.

As part of the battle between he and Optimus Primal at the end of season one, during which the Key to Vector Sigma and the Plasma Energy Chamber were pitted against each other, Megatron somehow was able to "split" his Beast body into two separate bodies -- one entirely robotic, and the other entirely "biological". (Whether the Beast bodies of the Beast Wars characters had any true biological components, or whether they were faux-flesh composed of nanites is not consistently established in either series.) Contrary to his intentions, Megatron's spark ended up trapped within the biological body, which came to be known as Noble/Savage.

It is unclear how a biological body was able to sustain a Transformers' spark. Indeed, even the Maximals were surprised when they realized what had happened. It could be argued, based on statements made by the Oracle in the first episode ("The Reformatting") that all lifeforms in the universe have sparks, not just Transformers. However, this is never alluded to by any other canonical source, so most fans have seemingly dismissed it.

As shown in "Prometheus Unbound", using the biological Noble/Savage body, Megatron was unable to mentally control devices in his citadel or interface with his control harness. Upon using a spark extractor on himself, however, his spark was freed and immediately flew to the harness, which it activated before "flowing" up to the ceiling through the harness' cables. His spark then took over, as its new body, an enormous floating replica of his own head, where it stayed for most of season two. The Noble/Savage body appeared to be dead, but recovered. After Megatron's spark had left it, it seemed to be a perfectly "normal" animal which had the ability to change between a wolf-like form and a dragon form, possessing little if any sentience.

As soon as his spark had been removed from Noble, it took on an unusual appearance, having turned entirely red or orange in color. (Perhaps a change similar to that of the reformatted Maximals.) Megatron's disembodied spark also seemed to be able to speak even though it had no physical body. It may be that this speech was telepathic, but, the spark itself pulsated in perfect rhythm with the words.

While inhabiting the Grand Mal, Megatron's spark was sometimes seen floating freely, and under its own power, through the interior of the Grand Mal, particularly in a large space that appeared to serve as his control room. (It was here that he addressed his Vehicon generals, usually manifesting as a holographic projection of one kind or another.)

Eventually, in the three-part "Sparkwar" story, Megatron's spark began consuming / fusing with the captured sparks of Cybertron's inhabitants. He claimed to have learned how to accomplish this after communicating with the Oracle.

To consume other sparks, Megatron's spark extended tendrils which ensnared victim sparks. These tendrils also had the ability extract sparks from occupied shells much like a spark extractor. As each spark was absorbed, Megatron's spark grew larger in size.

Megatron was temporarily beaten when Nightscream attacked him with a sonic scream. The scream, according to Primal, depolarized Megatron's spark. This caused him to temporarily lose control and allowed the Maximals to escape. In the following episode, "Spark of Darkness", Megatron's spark exhibited additional strange behaviors which may or may not have been dependant on its depolarized state:

*It travelled very quickly and with great agility.
*It was able to physically "crash" into things to push them around. In particular, it repeatedly knocked the Maximals out of its way.
*It seemed to be able to cause large explosions simply by flying through other objects.
*It could inhabit and leave any sparkless body at will. This ability evidently differs from Starscream's, in that Starscream never animated a vacant body, and Megatron never dominated an occupied one. These re-animated bodies were able to remain functional even after suffering extreme physical damage.
*His spark was not detectable by his Vehicon generals' sensors, and Primal was unable to "sense" his spark through the Oracle.
*The spark did not speak at all while depolarized, neither when in a body nor when floating freely.

Rattrap was able to capture Megatron using a hand-held spark extractor, and using a control panel on the extractor, repolarized and thus stabilized his spark. Afterwards, Megatron's spark remained red and just as fast and agile as before, but became detectable by his generals' scanners again, and became "trapped" in the next body it inhabited (that of a Diagnostic Drone). Upon entering this body, Megatron declared, "I live!" This was the first time he had spoken since being hit by the sonic scream. This implies that something about his prior "destabilized" state may have prevented him from fully utilizing the bodies he had visited. The only other clue we have is that when Optimus tried to contact Megatron's spark inside the Grand Mal, he discovered that it "was not a sentiant mind". Whether this is a result of trying to find a spark that was not in the expected location or because of its depolarized state is ambiguous.

Trivia
*It is possible there is some quantitative difference between the sparks of Geneneration 1 Transformers and Protoform Beast Wars era Transformers' sparks. G1 Transformers' sparks are generally glossed as small fragments of Primus's lifeforce. Beast Wars era Transformers sparks are generally considered to be the same, but writer Larry Ditillio has stated that he envisioned Beast Wars Transformers' sparks as small fragments split from the Vok Nebula. When a spark is split from Vok Nebula, a "good" one travels to the Matrix and an evil one to the Pit.
Humans (also known as: fleshlings, insects, squishies, "puny flesh creatures", "dumb stubbies", Terrans or Homo sapiens as they prefer) are bipedal and usually tiny organic beings found on Earth and like planets. Though quite fragile, and technologically backwards, they have at times aided the Autobots and thwarted the Decepticons once the Transformers' age-old war spilled onto the humans' primitive homeworld.
They're such undependable creatures. Inferior lifeforms.

Overview
Physiology
Humans are suspiciously familiar creatures. Though they are made of soft, organic materials, they share remarkable physical similarities with Transformers as a species. Most Transformers and humans walk upright on two long legs attached to a tall body, with two limbs attached at the shoulders. At the shoulders is the head, just like a Transformer's, which sports two eyes in the center at equal distance from the olfactory sensor array, above a mouth which opens for speaking and for ingesting energy. Aside from energy, they also ingest raw materials that they use in their self repair systems. This would seem to be a sensible system, as these materials can be stored anywhere in their bodies, to be used later when and if necessary. Like Transformers, they are social creatures, who trade and barter wares and develop emotional attachments to peers. Eerily enough, they possess an emotional spectrum nearly identical to that of Transformers as well, ranging from laughter, joy, and satisfaction to depression, anger, and cruelty. It is not uncommon to find Transformers who have even developed strong spiritual bonds with individual creatures. This is disgusting.

Humans are physically composed of several specialized units or systems called organs. The major organs are internalized, but extremely frail. Damage is hard to repair, and as they have yet to develop a method of replicating these organs, replacement usually requires harvesting from compatible humans. Major systems include the brain (central processing unit), the heart (primary engine core), and the lungs (which allow intake of essential atmospheric oxygen). Humans are able to ingest other organic matter and internally refine it into a fuel they term blood. Blood is required by every organ in their body and an elaborate transport system is required to transport it throughout. Though blood is in some sense self-replicating, a tremendous loss will result in permanent deactivation.

A human's organic tissue will begin failing just one quarter into his or her lifespan, and will spend the next three quarters growing ever less efficient until the human's lifeforce can no longer sustain itself. As a result, humans are saddeningly short-lived creatures. (It is not known how they find the time to accomplish anything, though as a side effect it has made their wars mercifully short.) Interestingly, humans do not build new members of their race. To the contrary, humans are what they have deemed "sexually dimorphic," categorized into sexes, wherein members of one subvariant of their species, classified as male, implants structural data, which they call "DNA", in the other classified as female. This process grows a new human (or occasionally more than one, although this is rare) inside the female like a parasite until it emerges roughly three quarters of an Earth year later. (If it exits the female too early, the new human risks death.)

The new human is very fragile and stupid; it will take years to acclimate itself to their society. Even a young human who stayed inside its female for the appropriate length of time is not capable of operating self-sufficiently without extensive training. Initiating the growth of a new human apparently involves much rubbing, and also kissing. Humans are reticent to discussing the practice, and several attempts at accumulating further data were met with what they term as "awkward silence". This is quite confusing, as humans generally give the impression that they supremely enjoy it, and have refused all suggestions that they learn the technology to build their own from spare parts.

Technology
Although Earth is rich with natural resources, Human technology is surprisingly primitive. They had only begun to experiment with outer atmosphere travel at the time the Great War began on Earth, and they have limited communication methods. Although their locomotive devices, called "cars", are suitable for Transformation, they are quite crude, potentially dangerous, and incredibly energy inefficient. Despite this, the type of car is often seen as a status symbol among humans, apparently the larger the car the more status achieved. Some humans claim that those with large cars are "compensating" for some other sort of size deficiency—unsurprising, considering how tiny humans are compared to the average Transformer.

Human military technology is equally unimpressive. They have yet to develop any form of workable energy weapons, and no shield technology either. Their primary weapons are devices called guns, which shoot small, metallic projectiles called bullets using a crude explosive called gunpowder. These are more than capable of killing other humans, but they are extremely ineffecient when fending off any attacking Decepticons. Their warhead weapons are slightly more efficient, though extremely primitive when compared to Autobot photon and plasma weapons.

Culture
Despite their lack of the multi-dimensional transwarp Spark, a great number of humans believe in an analogous concept, the intangible soul. This has been confirmed to be the equivalent of a Transformer's personality program in an odd experiment, when the human Spike Witwicky's personality was uploaded to an empty Transformer body cobbled together from spare parts. The human's consciousness was not suitable for digitization, and quickly deteriorated toward psychosis.

Many also believe in supernatural beings, either singular or plural, who have a direct but intangible stake in their lives. Once a week the more religious humans will gather together and sing songs at the ceiling, as the presumed direction of these beings is away from the gravity well of their planet. Unlike the historical Covenant of Primus, their holy books are not incorruptible encrypted public-key datatracks. Instead, they frequently re-encode the writings of multiple authors in an inefficient and apparently lossy process. Then they fight about which "translation" is correct instead of simply downloading the original encoding algorithm.

Despite having no concrete evidence these beings exist, and despite the records of the Beast Wars affirming their evolution from bipedal primates, the humans continue to assume these premises are true. This seems like a waste of spent attention, especially with such short lifespans, as no credible sources have substantiated that their alleged creator has ever transformed out of their world into a giant humanoid and fought its eternal enemy before their eyes. While some humans accept that they evolved from bipedal primates, there are others who maintain the divine intervention theory with a zeal that leads one to wonder if they are malfunctioning. Though the two theories are mutually exclusive, many seem to fall in a categorization that somehow accepts both. Many human traditions are puzzling.

The most familiar breed of humans are native to the planet Earth, though they can be found practically anywhere in the galaxy. For example, Nebulos is such a place, though some reports claim these humans are of green texture rather than various shades of beige. Femax is populated by humans of Transformer size. Pz-Zazz is also home to Transformer-sized humans, but it is not known whether they are indigenous to that world. It is possible that the tiny version of humans found on Earth is the exception, rather than the rule.

Trivia
* For reasons unknown, a substantial number of human Transformers fans appear to have a very drastic, dismissive position when it comes to the inclusion of representatives of their species in Transformers fiction, some even going as far as demanding that Transformers fiction should be devoid of any flesh creatures whatsoever, unless being depicted as helpless victims/casualties of Decepticon attacks.

Marvel Comics continuity
In his younger days, William "Sparkplug" Witwicky was a Sergeant in the US Marines. Later in life, he was a mechanic who owned his own service station.

A P.O.W. during the Korean War, Sparkplug was forced to repair the Koreans' equipment. However, he secretly sabotaged that same equipment, leading to personnel and material losses for the North Koreans. After being kidnapped by the Decepticons, he was instructed by Megatron to develop a process that would convert Earthen gasoline into fuel they could consume. Sparkplug drew on his memories of his time as a mechanic in the Korean War, recalling an instance where he had sabotaged the enemy vehicles' fuel and brake lines, and did the same to the Decepticons, poisoning their fuel and allowing the Autobots to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. However, before this heroic act could come to light, many of the Autobots believed that Sparkplug had betrayed them, and an over-reactive Jazz let loose with his flamethrower. Although Sparkplug wasn't injured by the weapon itself, he did suffer a heart attack. He was much less friendly with the Autobots thereafter. The_Last_Stand

Much later, his service station was destroyed by Ratbat and the Predacons. It is never established whether or not he rebuilt the station.

Sometimes Sparkplug identified himself as William Witwicky, but other times he identified himself as Irving Witwicky. The most likely answer is that his full name is William Irving Witwicky (or Irving William Witwicky).

Animated continuity
:Voice actor: Chris Latta (US}, ??? (Japan)

At some unspecified point in the past Sparkplug worked as a ruby crystal miner in Burma, of all things.

When first seen in the present day he and and his son Spike were working on an off-shore oil rig. The rig was destroyed in battle by the Decepticons and the two quickly and happily latched on to the Autobots that saved them, offering up their expertise and knowledge about planet Earth in exchange for joining the team. More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1

Spike and Sparkplug seem to have moved into the Ark after this and are almost constantly seen hanging out with the Autobots, there or abroad on missions. While Spike enjoyed going out on missions frequently, Sparkplug tended to stay at the Ark and helped Wheeljack and Ratchet on any mechanical or engineering work they were doing. He was apparently good enough at Transformer technology to effect repairs on Transformers like Omega Supreme without aid or guidance. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2

He once managed to take spare Autobot parts and put them together to make a functioning robot called Autobot X; once activated, the creature immediately bashed in everything and everyone in sight. Autobot Spike

He is kidnapped by the Decepticons as a test subject for Doctor Arkeville and turned to their side by the doctor's mind control chips. This causes Spike much emotional pain until the Autobots eventually find a way to use soundwaves to counter the chips and bring the true Sparkplug back.

Sparkplug was later seen operating a garage in New York.

(Sparkplug appears throughout Seasons 1 and 2 of the cartoon but does not appear in the Movie, set 20 years later, nor is he ever seen or mentioned after that. His fate remains unrevealed.)

Find Your Fate Junior
Sparkplug discovered a critical weakness in the Decepticons' circuits that would allow the Autobots to destroy them once and for all. However, the Decepticons discovered this and came after Sparkplug, who fled to the hills to hide. This eventually led to an Alamo-like standoff with a small group of Autobots holding off the Decepticon army from the shelter of a cave for two days while they waited for relief to arrive, with Sparkplug performing the makeshift repair work to keep them running.

The paper Sparkplug had the specifics of the weakness on was ruined in the battle. He could re-create the research, but the Decepticons would be able to change the design of their circuits while they did so. Still, at least it would keep them out of trouble for awhile! Battle Drive

While tinkering in his lab, Sparkplug invented the Sun-Pak, a powerful solar battery that threatened to change the balance of power between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Insecticon spies forced them to flee the testing range through a series of caves, and Sparkplug later rescued Beachcomber from Kickback, using a gun that caused Kickback to short out and return to tiny size.

Sparkplug suffered memory damage, and was unable to re-create the Sun-Pak after the prototype was destroyed.
Attack of the Insecticons

Dreamwave comics continuity
Sparkplug was one of the humans chosen to accompany the Autobots back to Cybertron, but was killed in 1999 when the Ark II exploded.

Trivia
*Although the Production Bible states that he is a widower, no mention ever seems to be made of him ever having had a wife.

*Sparkplug is mentioned in the Sunbow episode cast list for Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1. Whether this was in error or if he originally had a part in the episode is unknown.

The Last Autobot is a guardian that Primus prepared, against the day that he would no longer be able to guide his creations. A stoic being, the Last Autobot awaits his destiny.

Fiction
Marvel Comics continuity
Billions of years ago, before going into his sleep, Primus prepared a Transformer called the Last Autobot. He gave the Last Autobot a measure of his power and set him to wait for the 'chosen one'.

After Primus' death, Cybertron appeared to be tearing itself apart and the Transformers abandoned their home world. The only remaining Transformer was Optimus Prime, whose soul was in the body of Hi-Q.

Prime traveled, along with the Neo-Knights, into the depths of Cybertron where he discovered the Last Autobot. The Last Autobot? When the Last Autobot awakened, he was surprised to find the form that the chosen one had takenm-two souls in one body, a human body. (It's a long story.)

The Last Autobot merged the two souls into one new Optimus Prime body. He revealed that Cybertron wasn't tearing itself apart, but merely reformatting after the death of Primus. The Last Autobot stabilized the process, allowing Cybertron to reform without damaging itself.

After this, the Last Autobot traveled with Prime and the Neo Knights to the planet Klo, where they attacked the Decepticons. The Autobots were being decimated by the Decepticons, and the Last Autobot assisted in the battlem-not actively, but by resurrecting all the Autobots who had fallen.

Finally, the Autobots (and presumably the Last Autobot) returned to Cybertron, while the Decepticons exiled themselves to deep space. End of the Road! (Marvel US comic)
:Brawl is a Decepticon and a Combaticon in the Generation 1 continuity family.

If Brawl's on the battlefield and you can't hear him coming it's time to check your audio receptors, because chances are you've gone deaf. Brawl's main distinguishing characteristic is VOLUME. No matter if he's talking {yelling}, moving {clanking and rattling}, or fighting {yelling, clanking, rattling, and blasting) you're sure to hear him doing it, as is anyone else in the county. As if that wasn't enough, he also a ball of barely contained rage and violence with a hair-trigger temper. This makes even his comrades wary, but it does make him a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield... as long as the mission doesn't require stealth. Or zero casualties.
Brawl combines with his fellow Combaticons to form Bruticus.
Generation 1
Marvel Comics continuity
On his first mission on Earth, Brawl was tripped up by a bunch of vine creatures, crystallized, and blown to smithereens. Luckily for him, this was all in virtual reality. Unluckily for him, Brawl learned nothing about caution from this experience. A few days later, he mouthed off at Megatron. Megatron proceeded to pop Brawl's head like a ripe melon.

He got better.

Animated continuity
Brawl was one of several Renegade Decepticons who went against Megatron and had his personality component removed and placed in storage. After Starscream was booted out of the Decepticons, he stole the personality components of the Combaticons, including Brawl. Brawl was less then greatful to his liberator, and threatened to pound him, until Starscream revealed that he had "forgotten" to install energy converters into them. The Combaticons, including Brawl, decided to bide their time. Starscream's Brigade.

After being banished to an asteroid, the Combaticons managed to tow it to Cybertron, and evict Shockwave. Brawl would have prefered to just shoot the hell out of the Decepticons and Earth, but Onslaught managed to rig the space bridge to drag Earth into the sun. However, the Combaticons were later attacked by mysteriouys aggressors. Although the Combaticons were confused by their appearance, Brawl figured that they should just annihilate them. As it turned out, the aggressors were holograms created by Starscream and Shockwave, who the Combaticons captured. Once Megatron, as well as the Autobots, arrived, the Combaticons merged into Bruticus, but Optimus Prime deactivated him. The Combaticons were then reprogrammed to serve Megatron. The Revenge of Bruticus

After the Combaticons were damaged by Defensor, Swindle sold them to El Presidente. Under threat of death by Megatron, Swindle stole back the parts of his unit. However, he was unable to find Brawl's personality component, preventing the Combaticons from merging into Bruticus. The component turned out to have been used by some kids to build a robot for a school project. Of course, this made the robot extremely violent, and it destroyed the school lab and fought some Autobots before Swindle found it and recovered the component. This whole ordeal does pose a question: why does Bruticus depend on the personality component of a loud, homicidal maniac to form? B.O.T. (episode)

Dreamwave continuity
Brawl participated in Shockwave's siege on Iacon. War Within. As part of a combiner group, his actions were somewhat limited by the Crisis Intervention Accord; it is unknown how he occupied his time while the Accord was in place. The Dark Ages, Part 3

Millions of years later, when Sunstorm appeared on Earth, the battered Combaticons were ordered by Starscream to combine into Bruticus and deal with the crazed zealot. It did not end well.

The repaired Combaticons were brought to the Guadalcanal where they could hone their somewhat lackluster combat skills and listen to Starscream's long-winded aspirations of glory. When Swindle commented on Starscream's mental state, Brawl agreed, stating that he'd like to pull the Air Commander's Cerebro circuits straight out of his faceplate so they could get a better look at them. Starscream over hears their conversation, but lets it pass in order for them to fight the magnificent Autobot Sky Lynx. Unfortunately, the Combaticons do not fare well when the crafty Autobot splits into his two forms, with Brawl and Onslaught nearly crushed by the Lynx's right paw.

This was the least of their troubles, however, as Predaking showed up as soon as Sky Lynx was deactivated. This encounter also did not end well. The Route of All Evil
: Brawl transforms into a green Leopard 1 main battle tank. In vehicle mode his armament is supplemented by a large dark gray anti-aircraft gun mounted of the back of the tank's hull. In robot mode Brawl is armed with a small dark gray gun.

: Early releases of Brawl used painted die-cast metal for his chest and leg-mounted tank treads. This was later replaced by color-cast plastic. The complete set of Combaticons were re-released in the European-market "Classics" line in 1990; these releases has the rubsign indent removed from the molding.

: Brawl normally operates as Bruticus' left leg, but as a Scramble City-style combiner, he can also act as any other limb for any other combination of robots who share the connection design.

: In 1987, Brawl also came with a randomly-packed Decepticon Decoy and accompanying mini-comic/checklist.
Onslaught is what you'd call the "hands-off" type. He doesn't enjoy getting his mits dirty, but rather, Onslaught prefers the thrill of designing battle plans, strategies, and tactics, and then watching his Combaticon soldiers carry them out. While he typically crafts his strategies to exclude his direct involvement, Onslaught is no coward. When required, he will engage in battle with strength, cunning and earthquaking fury. While this darker more brutish side of Onslaught might lead some Decepticons into thinking he has a secret blood-lust stashed away in his circuits, truth be told, he's just really ticked off that he has to go out and do some actual fighting.

Onslaught can combine with his fellow Combaticons to form Bruticus, who is considerably dumber than Onslaught.
Generation 1
Marvel Comics continuity
Events from Marvel UK are in italics.

Onslaught is the leader of the Combaticons, one of the Special Teams foretold by the Matrix. It is assumed he was constructed on Earth, but this is contradicted by Generation 2 which hinted that Onslaught is the creator of the Cybertronian Mindset. Whichever the case may be, Onslaught and his team were first seen on Earth in the Afterdeath! story, where Onslaught fought and lost to the Protectobots inside the Multi-World computer game.

Later on, he led his team to kill Galvatron while he was trapped in a volcano, and Onslaught was the only Combaticon not taken down by a trio of human women. He would've killed them if the Throttlebots hadn't shown up as the cavalry. In response for that humiliation, Onslaught and the Combaticons hunted the Throttlebots down. The Throttlebots were trapped in a used car lot and the Combaticons were forced to bid for them in an auction against RAAT and the Protectobots, but Onslaught cut through this by trying to have the lot's owner assassinated. RAAT would get the Throttlebots and the Combaticons were beaten by Blaster.

Onslaught's shining moment came when he got to lead a massed Decepticon assault on the Autobots, which came close to wiping them all out.

He was not seen again until the Generation 2 comic, implying he had been killed in the Underbase conflict and later resurrected. At the death of Mindset, a Cybertronian light years away, Onslaught was briefly overcome by pain, hinting he had some past involvement with what became the Cybertronian Empire. However, he was offlined along with the entire Combaticon team by Starscream and this was never delved into. It is unknown if he was killed or later repaired.

However, in the post-movie alternate timeline, he is still active in 2008 and was one of Soundwave's lieutenants when the Quintessons invaded.

Animated continuity
:Voice actor: S. Marc Jordan, Steve Bulin (US), Yutaka Shimaka (Japan)

Onslaught was one of several Renegade Decepticons who had been imprisoned in the Decepticon Detention Center on Cybertron for plotting against Megatron. After Starscream was booted from the Decepticon base for attempting to overthrow Megatron (again), he decided to form his own army. Travelling to Cybertron via the Space Bridge, he "liberated" renegade personality components and placed them in human military vehicles left over from Earth's second World War. At first, the newly-dubbed 'Combaticons' were hardly grateful to Starscream for their freedom until the Decepticon air commander revealed he had predicted their treachery and thus did not equip them with vital energy absorbers. Onslaught and his fellow Combaticons worked agreed to work with Starscream to overthrow Megatron on the promise of being given the vital components. Onslaught worked in capturing two Autobots, though he got into an argument with Vortex over who was responsible for the act. Later, while recharging at a power station, Starscream's brigade was confronted by the Decepticons under Megatron's command. Anticipating that Devastator might come into play, Starscream ordered Onslaught and the other Combaticons to merge into the dim-witted Bruticus. The Combaticon combiner managed to soundly defeat Devastator, but was in turn defeated by a surprise attack by Menasor. For their treachery, Megatron banished Onslaught, his comrades and Starscream in space on a desolate asteroid. Starscream's Brigade

After a falling out with Starscream, Onslaught became the mastermind of Operation Revenge and helped defeat Shockwave's forces on Cybertron. He also used his external backpack and altered the Space Bridge to send Earth into the sun. It didn't work as he was defeated by the allied Decepticons and Autobots. Then Megatron had the Combaticons, including Onslaught, reprogrammed to serve him. Poor guy, can't seem to get a break. The Revenge of Bruticus

After that little lobotomy, the Combaticons were deployed to Earth's Middle East to assist in Megatron's scheme to steal military jets, rebuild them into cars, drive them out of the owners nations, and then rebuild them back into drone jets in friendly territory. Yeah. Onslaught and the other Combaticons attacked the Aerialbots when they snooped around, managing to force Slingshot to crash into a cave (YAY!). Later, Onslaught and the ground-based Combaticons form an anti-aircraft screen against an Aerialbot attack on the Fortress, then merged into Bruticus, but was rather quickly defeated by Superion before being blown away by the exploding oil wells. Aerial Assault

Back in the United States, Onslaught led the Combaticons in driving down the road of a random city for no apparent reason until they were confronted by the Defensor. Forming Bruticus, they were blown to pieces by a single shot from the Autobot, with Swindle being the only survivor. Swindle later sold the parts of his comrades, but were forced to buy them back for Megatron's next Crazy Scheme. The Combaticons formed Bruticus to operate the orbital disruptor cannon, but was shot by the cannon itself when B.O.T. tampered with it. B.O.T. (episode)

Dreamwave continuity
Onslaught unleashed his considerable firepower against the Autobots during the Decepticon assault against Iacon. He managed to escape from the disaster instigated by Starscream only to be imprisioned millions of years later by Shockwave along with his fellow Combaticons. That is at least until Starscream freed them.

When Sunstorm appeared on Earth, the battered Combaticons were ordered by Starscream to combine into Bruticus and deal with the crazed zealot. It did not end well.

The repaired Combaticons were brought to the Guadalcanal where they could hone their somewhat lackluster combat skills and listen to Starscream's long-winded aspirations of glory. Starscream orders them to defeat the magnificent Autobot Sky Lynx as a means to train themselves for greater battles. Unfortunately, the Combaticons do not fare well when the crafty Autobot splits into his two forms, with Onslaught nearly crushed by the Lynx's right paw as he was issuing orders. After Starscream deactivates Sky Lynx, Onslaught berated his team as buffons for not paying attention to his battle plan.

This was the least of their troubles, however, as Predaking showed up as soon after Sky Lynx shut down. Onslaught ordered his men to keep moving and maintain formation so as to remain as smaller, faster targets, then as they neared Predaking, formed Bruticus. This encounter also did not end well either.... The Route of All Evil
: Onslaught transforms into a dark blue mobile anti-aircraft truck of made-up origin, armed with a large double-barrelled cannon mounted on the flatbed of his vehicle mode. He can also assume a base/gun emplacement mode with a ramp that smaller Combaticons can use. This base mode can be connected to both the Autobot city Metroplex (a feature not mentioned in either toy's instructions, for obvious reasons) and to the Decepticon city Trypticon, a feature only documented in Trypticon's instructions.

: In robot mode, Onslaught is armed with a long olive laser rifle and is accessorized by a small chest plate. He forms the central body component of Bruticus, protected by an even larger silver chest plate and Bruticus' head. He also comes with Bruticus' hands and feet.
