Clone One was created by Megatron as part of a multi-phase ploy to destroy the Maximals by luring them into an ambush and using their [[Axalon (BW)|own base's]] defenses to finish them off when they retreated to it.

After [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] removed the real Dinobot by trapping him within a hollow mountain, Clone One replaced him and gave [[Optimus Primal]] "news" of a Predacon force massing in Grid Omega. Primal opted to send [[Rattrap]] and the clone to get a fix on the force's position rather than stage an immediate assault.

Clone One narrowly avoided being discovered by Rattrap, who wanted to transform and attack the fictitious base, by (uncharacteristically for Dinobot) reminding Rattrap this was supposed to be a ''recon'' mission. He subsequently ambushed Rattrap and returned to the ''Axalon'' feigning injury, claiming Rattrap was pinned down by the Predacons. Primal rushed off to save him.

Alone in the unfamiliar ''Axalon'', Clone One was stymied in his attempts to deactivate [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]] because he didn't know the real Dinobot's password, nor did he possess the Maximal energy signature required to override the security system. When Dinobot (who had merely been disabled, not destroyed) returned to the ''Axalon'', Clone One believed it was he who had finally succeeded in lowering the shields, and summoned Megatron.

Overcoming his initial bafflement, Dinobot agreed to a "fair fight" with Clone One in beast mode, which he lost when Clone One scored a dumb-luck hit. Dinobot feigned unconsciousness and Clone One, rather than double-check his opponent, ran off to meet Megatron.

When the Maximals arrived, they found that the real Dinobot had devoured the clone, commenting that he thought the clone was quite tasty. Primal expressed his disgust. {{storylink|Double Dinobot}}

A high-ranking member of the Maximals, '''Lio Convoy''' is honest to his core and possesses the strong sense of right and wrong that one expects from a robot with "[[Convoy]]" in his name. In part he's a tough, hard, career-military robot, but he doesn't let that side of his nature totally dominate who he is. There is a very humane, even gentle side to him as well, and there are times when one can't help but suspect his seriousness has a hidden smile behind it. Though Lio Convoy dislikes fighting for its own sake, for a just cause he is more than willing to throw himself into the frey. He believes that through combat one can gain insight and understanding of an opponents true character and thought processes.

A Supreme Commander with his own [[Energon Matrix]]. He led a troop of Maximal soldiers to planet [[Gaea]] to stop [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] and his [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]].

After being attacked by a ship of rogue Predacons, lead by [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]], Lio Convoy and his army of Maximals gave chase to their enemies. Lio Convoy and his crew of Maximals chased Galvatron to the distant planet Gaea where Lio Convoy was separated from the rest of his troops while protecting [[Apache]] from a Predacon attack. The over-abundance of [[Angolmois]] energy proved harmful to Transformers, forcing all the Maximals to scan local wildlife for necessary beast modes. Injured, Lio Convoy was rescued by a white lion and scanned its form while recuperating. He then rescued his troops from another Predacon attack. Next, they set-up base on Gaea, now aware that Galvatron was after the powerful Angolmois energy.

Lio Convoy is later reunited with his "son", [[Lio Junior]]. While Lio Convoy was first recovering from Predacon attack, the Spirit of Gaea copied his Leadership Matrix and infused it within Lio Junior, resulting in Lio Junior's belief that he is Lio Convoy's offspring. Lio Convoy wasn't very eager to be weighed down by a son, and Lio Junior spent the bulk of the series trying desperately to earn his acceptance.

At one point, an alien machine that could warp time and space crashed onto Gaea. The Predacons used it to summon the unstoppable mobile fortress, [[Majin Zarak]], and quickly trashed most of the Maximals. [[Magnaboss II|Magnaboss]] (the combined form of Lio Junior, [[Santon]] and [[Skywarp (BWII)|Skywarp]]) managed to summon [[Optimus Primal]] to their aid with the machine.

Primal and Lio Convoy teamed-up to battle Majin Zarak, who turned out to be a sentient robot and not just a battle station. Together, they combined the power of the Leadership Matrices to upgrade themselves into Burning Convoy and Flash Lio Convoy.

With Primal's enhanced strength and Lio Convoy's super speed, they weakened Majin Zarak. They then unleashed the power within their Matrices into a "Double Matrix Blast" which finished-off the monster.

Lio Convoy had many more wacky adventures on Gaea, including but not limited to: Evil Clones, Space Pirates and Fiesty Mexican Robot Insects. Eventually, Galvatron summoned the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], a giant spacecraft, to suck all the Angolmois energy out of Gaea. The Maximals followed the Predacons to the Nemesis and Lio Convoy managed to infiltrate the ship with the help of [[Scuba]] and the [[Tako Tank]]. Inside, Lio Convoy faced Galvatron but could not defeat the Predacon Emperor of Destruction, who was now over-powered by Angolmois energy. Lio Junior soon arrived to rescue his daddy and the pair, with the help of "good" Angolmois energy, merged into the Great Green Warrior. They did battle with Galvatron and eventually defeated him, sealing the Angolmois energy into capsules and firing them off into space. Galvatron then revealed his big surprise and used his [[Galva-Matrix]] to cause the Nemesis to explode. Lio Convoy and the rest of the Maximals then fall into a wormhole.

After having their Angolmois capsules stolen by the [[Blendtron]]s, [[Big Convoy]] and his Maximal new recruits are sucked into a wormhole while chasing their enemies. They came across Lio Convoy (whom they all had presumed dead) who explained to them that the Angolmois energy is really the lifeforce of [[Unicron]]. Lio Convoy used all his power to free the Maximals from the wormhole, though he remained trapped inside.

Lio Convoy eventually escaped from the wormhole and aided Big Convoy, the Maximals and [[Magmatron]] in the final battle against Unicron. After Big Convoy blew Unicron away with his Matrix Buster, the Maximals and Predacons formed an alliance of true unity and worked together to restore Cybertron. All of Lio Convoy's Maximal troops who were trapped inside the wormhole with him were eventually released and joined in the restoration of their homeworld.

Prior to the end of the [[Great War]] and the signing of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], Lio Convoy commanded a crew of Maximals who traveled to the planet [[Gaea]] and battled [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] and his forces.

Years later, during peace-time, the ever-vigilant Lio Convoy sat on the [[Bi-Partate Committee for State Affairs]], but was also a member of a secret black-ops intelligence unit known as the [[Pack]]. During a conversation with [[Razorbeast]] that was officially off-the-record, he reminded his fellow Maximal that their unit didn't exist and that the [[Maximal Imperium]] didn't sanction their operations. He warned Razorbeast that if he was caught while undercover in [[Magmatron]]'s command, he would be disavowed.

Unfortunately, Lio Convoy believed that Magmatron was the true enemy, while [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] was just a loose cannon. (Real good job of threat assessment there...) After Razorbeast's transwarp booster-sent distress message was strengthened by Magmatron, it reached Lio Convoy, who, despite his earlier warning, mobilized the Pack at once to race to Razorbeast's rescue.

While Razorbeast's Maximals were fighting the Predacons to a standstill (in no small part thanks to the powerhouses Torca and Grimlock), the Pack arrived and looked to turn the tide of battle quickly in the favor of all that is clean and fresh. Lio Convoy himself transformed and confronted [[Drill Bit]] and some other Pred thugs, who were unimpressed by his unnervingly LARGE beast mode. Lio Convoy accepted this and whipped out his cannons. THEN they were impressed. When Ravage revealed himself to the Maximals, Lio Convoy and Razorbeast were quick to turn their guns on him...right up until [[Rartorata]] showed his ugly mug. Then things got sticky...

'''Megatron''' has one goal -- restoring glory and power to the Predacon race, with himself at the helm. What distinguishes Megatron from the countless others who share this goal is his chutzpah. He is willing to risk everything — time, space, himself — if need be. And there were times he might have made it happen were it not for [[Optimus Primal]]

Megatron is skillful at orchestrating vast schemes by manipulating others into doing them for him -- an idle suggestion here, a conspicuously-planted object of interest there. He knows his enemies inside and out and exactly how to provoke them. He has no friends, only pawns, or occasionally, [[Inferno (BW)|pawns that are too reliable to risk losing]]. Because of this attitude, this superiority complex, he despises working with the very troops he needs to carry out his plans. His hubris does not make him very popular, and so he must rely on power and fear to rule them.

Megatron is a gambler and can sometimes be a ham. (His manner of saying "Yesss..." is practically vaudevillian.) He has a twisted sense of humor and an over-developed sense of drama which rule everything he conceives, both long and short term. When he destroys you, he wants you to know that it was he who did this, and just how badly you were had. This is his greatest weakness. Like a Bond villain, he'll gladly boast to the hero at length about how smart and clever he was, giving his victim time to formulate a counterattack (he admits the Predacons sometimes gloat too much). He often sabotages himself by neglecting the quick and easy solutions for the bigger, meaner, and more complex.

Prior to the signing of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], Megatron was a field commander in the Predacon army, where he learned much about strategy and tactics. Upon ratification of peace with the [[Maximal Imperium]] most Predacons laid down their arms. Megatron refused and went rogue.

On Cybertron, Megatron wore removable transformable armor, which transformed into a missile-launching armored platform, over his basic bodyframe (which transforms into a hovertank). This quickly-discarded outer shell was possibly used to comply with the ratification of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], which required Predacons to lay down their arms. A Predacon field commander before the peace, Megatron refused to comply with these new regulations and struck out on his own to destroy the [[Maximal Imperium]].

With some [[Cryotek|help]] from [[Divebomb (G1)|various sources]], he assembled a crew of ragtag criminals and miscreants for the purpose of stealing the Golden Disk and using it to find [[Earth]]. Succeeding in stealing the disk, he, [[Dinobot (BW)|his lieutenant]], and [[Scorponok (BW)|another accomplice]] fought their way out of the [[Archives]], eliminating [[Unit 1|one guard]] and dodging [[Tigatron|another]]. They were swiftly picked up by the ''[[Darksyde]]'', a ship stolen by the rest of their crew.

Megatron instructed [[Tarantulas]] to study the disk for the coordinates of Earth while the ''Darkside'' battled its several pursuers. Although they were followed by the Maximal ships [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']] and the ''[[Chromia 10]]'', the ''Darksyde''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s mission was also aided by a third ship crewed by the Predacon agents [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] and [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]]. Though the ''Chromia 10'' and the Predacon ship were destroyed, the ''Darksyde'' was still followed by the ''Axalon''. Megatron removed his transformable armor and patched a video feed through to the ''Axalon'''s captain, [[Optimus Primal]]. After stealing the Maximal relic, the [[Golden Disk]], and [[Darksyde|a ship]], he and his crew were followed through a [[transwarp]] portal by the [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']]. After crashing on a planet that was supposed to be [[Earth]], yet seemingly wasn't, both the [[Maximal]]s and the Predacons took organic beast forms to protect themselves against the massive amount of Energon radiation. Megatron now transformed into a purple ''Tyrannosaurus rex''.

Dinobot chastised Megatron, accusing him of leading the Predacons to the wrong planet and challenged Megatron for leadership of the Predacons. Megatron simply ignored the challenge and had Scorponok dispose of him. {{storylink|Beast Wars, Part 1}}

Despite the loss of a formidable crony, Megatron positioned himself on the new world and the "Beast Wars" began. Being on a world filled with Energon allowed [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] to find a superhorde, and power himself to great levels. With this power, Terrorsaur was able to demolish Megatron in battle and take over the Predacons. However, through the Maximals' actions, the superhorde was destroyed. Terrorsaur was eventually ridden of his newfound power and returned to an angered Megatron, who was rebuilt by [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]]. {{storylink|Power Surge}}

Again, Terrorsaur tried to usurp Megatron, this time using an apparently-turned [[Rattrap]], who used a device to paralyze Megatron. The Predacons argued over who would be leader, but agreed to put Rattrap and Megatron away for the time being. Megatron was able to easily escape using his secret voice commands, leaving Rattrap to his fate. Revealing himself to have escaped, Megatron allowed Terrorsaur to lead the Predacons in battle with the Maximals. Terrorsaur failed miserably, showing his ineptitude to the Predacons, which was Megatron's plan all along. {{storylink|Double Jeopardy}}

Megatron later formulated a plan to get off Earth. First, he had the other Predacons act dissatisfied with his leadership, causing a battle that apparently destroyed the Predacons, using a Maximal spy camera that he was aware of to play out the trick. Then, the Maximals scavenged the ''Darksyde'' for parts to repair the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s stardrive. Dinobot discovered the deception and rushed to warn the leaving Maximals. In the scuffle, Megatron snuck aboard. In the ''Axalon'', he managed to knock out every Maximal on the ship but Rattrap, who he started crushing to death. An angered [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] woke up and threw Megatron off the ''Axalon''. However, Megatron's tail weapon was stuck in the console, causing the ''Axalon'' to crash. Later, Megatron caught wind of the return of the [[Vok]] and called a ceasefire between the two factions, realizing he had more important things to worry about. The Vok did indeed return, and planned to destroy the planet the Transformers were on with their massive [[Planet Buster]] (cleverly disguised as the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]). Optimus Primal managed to stop the planet buster after flying close to it within a modified stasis pod. Megatron added a little surprise for Primal within the pod, though; locking the door so that Primal could not escape and was destroyed when the planet buster exploded. {{storylink|Other Voices}}

The [[quantum surge]] from the exploding planet buster bathed Megatron in quantum energies, upgrading him into a [[transmetal]]. Megatron quickly rallied his forces and attempted an all-out attack on the leader-less Maximals. Megatron and the Predacons took the upperhand in battle until a transmetal Optimus Primal (brought back online by [[Rhinox]]) saved the day. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1}}

With both factions now aware that the planet they were stranded on was really prehistoric [[Earth]], Megatron was free to put his full plan into motion. Locating the crashed [[Ark]], Megatron attempted to alter history by assassinating the unconscious [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. By doing so, he intended to ensure the defeat of the [[Autobot]]s and thus the victory of the [[Decepticon]]s and Predacons. (For unknown reasons, he showed no concern that such a drastic change to the timestream might erase his own existence.) {{storylink|The Agenda, Part 3}}

The Maximals managed to save Prime's life by having [[Teletraan-1]] repair his body while Optimus Primal kept his spark within his own structure, transforming his body into a more powerful form. The Maximals defeated Megatron and returned Prime's spark to its proper place. {{storylink|Optimal Situation}}

Megatron was not to be outdone. He managed to sneak inside the Ark (which was now the new Maximal base) and take the spark of the original Megatron, seeking to replicate the effect Optimus Prime's spark had on Primal's body. He placed his namesake's spark within his body, transforming himself into a powerful dragon. With this newfound body, Megatron was able to give Optimus Primal a sound beating, until chased away by the entire Maximal group. {{Storylink|Master Blaster}}

Megatron's next evil scheme involved the legendary Decepticon battleship, the [[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]. After finding the ship deep beneath the ocean, Megatron intended to pilot it back to the future and lay waste to the Maximals on Cybertron. {{storylink|Nemesis, Part 1}} First, however, he planned to annihilate the Ark on prehistoric Earth. Primal infiltrated the Nemesis and kept Megatron busy until Rhinox could fly a shuttlecraft through the bridge and take the Predacon out. The Nemesis crashed a second time and thus preserved history.

Additionally, Megatron seemed to have undergone a change. Gone was the ham who sought conquest for the sake of glory and power. He now spoke as if a god, almost reminiscent of his quotes from the Covenant of Primus. His actions were based not on the thirst for revenge on Maximals but in hopes of becoming a grand liberator for their kind. In addition, while as recently as the final battle of the Beast Wars, he would flatten a subordinate for even mentioning "the H word" ("honor"), he now would keep his word to his enemies, even at the risk of future losses. Further, at some point in this period, Megatron became convinced that beast modes and other vestiges of the organic were an abomination that should be scoured from Cybertron, leaving only technological purity (whereas before he had seemed perfectly pleased with his dinosaur and dragon beast modes. In fact, he seemed to revel in them more then anyone, except maybe Tarantulas) This was a new and even madder Megatron.

''As described above, the time period from when Megatron broke free from the shuttle, to when Optimus Primal and the Maximals arrived on Cybertron, was vastly transformative for both Megatron and the planet, and probably constituted an epic story in its own right. Nevertheless, the period was only vaguely described in the animated series, and only slightly elaborated upon in secondary media. Many questions remain unanswered.''

When the Maximals arrived in their shuttle, they found the planet empty aside from countless [[Vehicon|mindless drones]] controlled by Megatron. Megatron's drones immediately bombarded the Maximals with [[devolving gas]] to revert their powerful [[Transmetal]] bodies to normal beast mode bodies, and they were also affected by a [[transformation lock]] virus which Megatron had used to help him conquer the planet in the first place.

Despite his best efforts, the Maximals escaped, and learned to transform again after Primal used the [[Oracle]]'s power to [[reformatting|reformat]] them. They began making short work of his Vehicons, so he removed three sparks from his collection to create [[Vehicon general]]s which could think on their feet in battle. For the generals he chose sparks of Transformers that the Maximals already knew, such that if they ever discovered the sparks' identities, they would be reluctant to destroy them: [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] became [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]], [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] became [[Tankor]], and [[Waspinator]] became [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]]. After Jetstorm was reformatted into Silverbolt and Rhinox reawakened and destroyed, Megatron used the sparks of [[Obsidian (BM)|Obsidian]] and [[Strika]] to replace them.

However, Megatron still retained his own beast mode, unwilling to take the momentary risk of transferring his spark to a new body. After releasing the energies of the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] and the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]], Megatron attempted to transfer his spark to another body, but wound of stuck in [[Savage/Noble]], a purely organic creature. Eventually, Megatron would transfer his spark to the [[Grand Mal]], a vessel shaped in his own head. He attempted to consume the captured sparks, but [[Nightscream]] managed to depolarize his spark, causing it to jump between discarded shells and attack everyone in a zombie like fashion. Rattrap would use a [[spark extractor]] to repolarize his spark, allowing Megatron to regain his senses, but trapping him in a [[Diagnostic Drone]].

Ultimately, Megatron succeeded in capturing the sparks of all the Maximals, leaving just Optimus Primal and himself as the only two Transformers on the entire planet. At the end of a fierce one-on-one fight, in which Megatron wore a copy of the powerful Optimal Optimus body, Megatron began consuming his amassed sparks, growing ever more powerful. However, when he attempted to use the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] to transform the planet's [[organic core]] into [[technomatter]], Primal managed to dislodge them both. They plummeted into the planet's goopy core and, somehow, Primal was able to reformat the entire planet, destroying himself and Megatron completely, but freeing all the lost sparks to repopulate their newly redecorated planet.

Both Megatron and Optimus Primal awoke inside a bizarre temple-like spaceship which was hurtling through space. Neither had any memory of who they were or how they got there, only their own names and a feeling of discomfort between one another. The pair went about investigating the ship in search of answers. While Megatron's memory was lost, his personality remained mostly intact: he was more concerned with sezing control of the ship before Primal did in order to gain the upper hand.

They eventually found a data log and discovered that their sparks had been taken and they were reborn into new bodies (unbeknownst to them, bodies identical to their original forms). However, their memories were intentionally not uploaded into their new bodies. While searching the log they discovered that the ship's main power source was a [[Golden Disk]] lodged within a giant pillar. Megatron immediately raced to obtain the Disk and Primal followed him. The closer they got to the disk the more the ship attempted to thwart their advance by manipulating its atmosphere conditions.

Once they reached the chamber the ship's environment suddenly morphed to that of a decaying planet littered with the corpses of robots. The corpses came to life and began shambling toward them, intent on eating their sparks. They made short work of the zombies, leaving Megatron to obtain the Golden Disk and Primal with a feeling that he shouldn't entirely trust Megatron.

From another dimension beyond time and space, [[Primus]] recognized that something was amiss and sent one of his messengers to meet Primal and Megatron within the spaceship.

When [[Optimus Primal]]'s spark is revived from the within the Matrix to protect the multiverse, this action freed Megatron's spark as well. The reborn Megatron returned to the ranks of the Predacons, but this time, Optimus Primal found himself in an uneasy alliance with him against Unicron. Megatron traveled with his old nemesis from universe to universe, wherever the growing multiversal conflict had spread. But now with Unicron disappeared into the [[Unicron Singularity]], it remains to be seen whether Megatron's insane ambition will resurface.

No Decepticon has a stronger loyalty to [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] than '''Ravage'''. One of [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]]'s most reliable [[Mini-Cassette|spies]], Ravage believes unwaveringly in the Decepticon cause, and Megatron embodies that cause. To better serve Megatron and the Decepticons, Ravage has become the most efficient and deadly war machine under his command. He hides himself in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike with grim accuracy. His name is synonymous with stealth. His survivors are few.

Ravage's only weakness is bright light, which can temporarily blind him. Perhaps his absolute loyalty to Megatron can blind him as well.

Sometimes he's a talker, other times he just growls or hisses at anything that isn't Megatron or Soundwave.

The detonation of the volcano in [[Mount St. Hilary]] reactivated the Autobots and Decepticons, unleashing their war on Earth. Ravage acted as the top spy for his leader.

Still, Ravage remained the dutiful soldier, and was at one point assigned to watch over [[Donny Finkleberg|"Robot-Master"]], really a human named Donny Finkleberg who was unwillingly helping the Decepticons sow mistrust of the Autobots among the human population. When the human escaped their coal shaft base during an Autobot offensive, Ravage took off after his prey. One of the original team of Decepticons that accompanied [[Megatron]] on the attack of the ''[[Ark]]'' spacecraft, Ravage was reformatted by [[Teletraan I]] as an audiocassette to better blend in for operations based on Earth. Ravage served loyally as a Decepticon spy. He was one of the first Transformers to have been encountered by a human, as workers investigating a destroyed power station fell afoul of Ravage who pounced upon them and frightened them away. {{storylink|More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1|MTMTE1}}

Shortly thereafter, Ravage accompanied Soundwave on an infiltration mission to gather data from Teletraan 1. Though Soundwave was discovered, Ravage was captured in an energy net and held captive. {{storylink|More Than Meets the Eye, Part 2|MTMTE2}} The Decepticon spy figured into a disinformation plot hatched by the Autobots, who purposely leaked the presence of a rocket fuel depository in the outlying desert. In truth, there was no rocket base -- Autobot [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] projected a holographic illusion in the hopes of luring the Decepticons into a trap. During Megatron's gladiatorial match with Optimus Prime, Ravage was let out to watch his master battle their nemesis. Soundwave also petted him. This would be cute if it wasn't creepy. {{storylink|Heavy Metal War}}

During Megatron's attempt to convince the humans that the Decepticons were good and the Autobots were evil, Ravage was dispatched to track down [[Spike Witwicky]] when the human searched for evidence that would exonerate the Autobots. Cornering the flesh creature in a studio control room, Ravage had a door closed on him, was electrocuted by a control panel, and had a shelf filled with video cassettes pushed onto him. Some time later, Ravage, along with [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]], and Soundwave, were transported to a planet with massive inhabitants, along with a group of Autobots, in a [[space bridge]] accident. The first creature they encountered, [[Aron]], thought the Decepticons were toys. Ravage attempted to escape, but Aron's cat [[Nitro]] chased after Ravage like a mouse (how embarrassing). Aron put him with his pet hamster, Blooper, in his cage. Instead of immediately asserting his dominance by killing the beast, Ravage went and ran on the creature's exercise wheel. When captured by scientists, they attempted to disect the Transformers, but Ravage was able to pick his locks and free the Decepticons, who hijacked the Autobots light beam to head back to Earth...and land a lake filled with alligators. Millions of years later, Ravage was a member of a team of Transformers controlled by [[Lazarus]] and sent to destroy an oil refinery. Ravage, always loyal to Soundwave, seemed to switch to [[Shockwave]]'s side when they traveled to Cybertron. Unfortunately for him, he tried to tackle [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and got a mouthful of energy blast.

Ravage can talk. Seriously. He was last seen chained in a [[Skywatch]] facility alongside Laserbeak. And he hasn't seen Megatron or Soundwave in twenty years. He's not in a good mood, but this was rendered moot when Skywatch reprogrammed him to track down the other Transformers. Ravage tracked him to [[Stanford Merriweather]]'s house in [[San Francisco]], and crashed into the household, startling Muldoon, Merriweather, Merriweather's daughter [[Kitty Merriweather|Kitty]], and [[Mark Twain]].

He then pretty much got his ass kicked by Mark Twain, who took advantage of Ravage being momentarily trapped in rubble to flick a cigar at him, thus igniting a gas leak. The explosion flung Ravage into the bay, never to be seen again.

Ravage is one of the few Decepticon warriors who was granted amnesty at the end of the Great War and reformatted into a Predacon, complete with classy russian accent. He was sent by the [[Tripredacus Council]] to capture [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], clean up any messes he might have made, and deal with the rest of the beast warriors. (Whether this translated to "kill them all" in the minds of the Tripedacus Council is unclear, but that was apparently Ravage's intent.) Ravage made the trip to prehistoric Earth in a specially modified stealth [[Transwarp Cruiser]]. He successfully contacted the [[Maximal]]s and allied with them to capture Megatron. Due to the stealth capabilities of his ship, and the fact that [[Tarantulas]] was also an agent of the council, Ravage and the Maximals easily captured Megatron and imprisoned him. {{Storylink|The Agenda, Part 1}}

Megatron, however, had one more card to play. He knew that Ravage wasn't going to let any of the Beast warriors live, and also knew he had the one thing that would turn Ravage to his side. Using a fragment from the [[Golden Disk]], Megatron showed Ravage something which shocked him—a message from [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], the [[Emperor of Destruction|leader of the Decepticons]]. As a safeguard against potential defeat, Megatron left instructions for the descendants of the Decepticons to use transwarp technology to return to prehistoric Earth. Although the message cuts out before it is finished, Megatron's plan worked: Ravage, moved by the sight of his old commander, released Megatron. Magmatron recovered Ravage's heavily-damaged torso, which still contained his spark. He then inserted the spark into a blank [[protoform]], and Ravage was reborn. In his Transmetal 2 body, he and his fellow Predacons, under the command of Magmatron, sought out [[Razorbeast]]'s band of Maximals. Viewing from a safe distance, Ravage ordered his soldiers to engage. Additional Maximal forces arrived, however, and Ravage's forces were defeated. Ravage retreated into the wilderness. {{storylink|The Gathering}}

Subsequently, Ravage would utilize all the Predacons under his command in a desperate attack as a diversion while he crept into the Maximal base to steal the [[chronal phase facilitators]] left behind by Magmatron. He was confronted by Razorbeast, who guessed incorrectly that Ravage intended to use them to board the Autobot shuttle and return to Cybertron. Ravage corrected him by stating that he intended to free Megatron and eradicate the Maximal forces. His ambitions however were thwarted by [[Snarl (BW)|Snarl]] who caught him off guard and gave Razorbeast the opportunity to knock Ravage offline. {{storylink|The Ascending, Part 1}}

It is not certain if Ravage's intentions for Megatron were another ruse or if he was ''actually'' out of his kitty mind regarding the tactical feasibility of this endeavor.

However, what WAS a ruse was Ravage being offline - as soon as he had been tied up by Razorbeast, the Maximal commander had to leave to help on the battlefield - upon which Ravage stopped playing dead and broke loose rather easily, managing to obtain the chronal displacement bands that Razorbeast had put him right next to after pointing them out. (A tactical genius, that Razorbeast.) However, upon activating the bands, Ravage was pulled into Chronospace by the trapped Magmatron, who warned him of the apocalypse that was to come, and ordered him to form a truce with the Maximals to fight this menace. And after hearing the warning, Ravage heeded the sage advice, sneaking out of the base while chronically displaced and re-emerging to the sight of several gun barrels from [[Lio Convoy]], Razorbeast, and the Pack. However, just as he explained the situation, [[Rartorata]] emerged from nowhere and turned Razorbeast into a Princess Mononoke homage. {{storylink|The Ascending, Part 2}}

The Government-run [[Intelligence and Information Institute]] (or Triple-I) unearthed a mysterious black box during an archaeological dig. After years of probing, the container, dubbed "Schrödinger's Box" by the group's scientists, was revealed to be the flight recorder of the Predacon Ravage's stealth ship, containing a copy of the feline's personality and memory engrams, deposited into his vessel before his final blaze of glory {{storylink|The Agenda, Part 2}}. When the scientists found a way to communicate with this personality, it offered them its knowledge of future events in exchange for a new body. Triple-I agreed, and used a fake Binaltech project (filled under the pretense of "technological synthesis tests"), to provide their part of the bargain. However, to truly bring the new Ravage to life, Triple-I stole the present-day Ravage - who had been captured by the [[Earth Defense Command]] and stasis-locked into his cassette mode - and implanted him into the new Ravage, thereby 'fusing' the old and new Ravages into one.

This new Ravage, however, had no intention of fulfilling his end of the bargain and, after eliminating his benefactors and learning to his shock that history did not change in his faction's favor, decided to rectify his mistake. First on his agenda was his former commander, Megatron; stealing an Autobot shuttle, he located and repaired the [[Kronosphere]] and - during a decisive battle between Megatron's and Optimus Prime's forces that would have normally ended with the Autobots being forced off of Cybertron and into their moon bases - turned the weapon on his own faction, trapping Megatron and his crew in a space-time rift. This alteration in the timeline served two purposes: first, it would give the Autobots the chance to retake Cybertron, which would then lead to them having to face off against the oncoming [[Unicron]] alone, severely weakening them in the process. The second, and more important, purpose was to keep Megatron alive and in good mental health (relatively speaking), thus preventing him from becoming the insane [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], and allowing him to lead the Decepticons to victory over the battle-weary Autobots. Ravage also [[Transmuter|Transmuted]] [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] into a new Binaltech body of his own, so he could lead the remaining Decepticons in Megatron's absence, and secretly derailed many of the Autobots' supply missions, further weakening them for their battle with the Chaos Bringer.

Unfortunately for him, the Autobot named [[Overdrive]] became aware of Ravage's meddling in history, thanks to his acute sensitivity of the timestream, and - with the help of [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] - captured the wayward Decepticon and forced a confession out of him. Ravage, however, was not without a trump card, revealing that his alterations may prevent the deaths of many of the Autobots destined to die in the normal timeline (which, as a distinction between the two, was dubbed 'Prime Time' by Wheeljack, Ravage's altered timeline being called 'Ravage Time'), though in the grand scheme of things, only Optimus could not be considered expendable, as he contained the one thing that could bring down Unicron (the [[Autobot]] [[Matrix of Leadership]]). By the time of his capture, however, Unicron had already been sighted on a collision course with Cybertron and, despite the temptation of preventing future deaths among his ranks, Optimus decided Ravage's plans to be too dangerous to allow to come to fruition. To that end, he ropes [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] into helping him fly to Unicron in a preemptive strike against the monstrous threat, while the other Autobots (left in the command of [[Skids (G1)|Skids]]), were to initiate "Operation: Distant Thunder", which involved sending a copy of Wheeljack's memories of what Ravage confessed to them, back in time to a point prior to the Decepticon panther's meddling, via the energies located on [[Dinobot Island]]. If "Operation: Distant Thunder" worked as planned, Ravage's plans would be foiled, and any tremors in the timeline he caused would be smoothed over by "Project Body Shop" (aka, the Binaltech project). However, just as Skids gives the signal to transmit the memory engrams, the Autobot base is rocked by an entire fleet of Decepticons. The Autobots just barely manage to hold off the fleet, ensuring that "Operation: Distant Thunder" proves to be a success (though a [[Nemesis Prime|black Optimus Prime]] ends up separating the Binaltech timeline from the original, as supposedly the Binaltech-bodied Transformers have a higher purpose in the grand scheme of things). Whatever happened to Ravage is not known.

Although his plan was indeed to repair Teletraan I's databanks, Ravage had his own intentions for the information. He had traveled back from the future to the year 2005 in an attempt to use the "bio and tech specs" data stored inside the computer to manipulate the future and create a timeline free of "unnecessary conflict." When he was foiled by the unknown saboteur, he infiltrated the Autobots as Black Panther Man and created the Information Control Center on Nana in order to control the recovery effort.

The bumbling Teletraan 15 (and eventually Teletraan 10 as well) resisted, escaping back in time using Ravage's Transwarp cruiser and becoming the very saboteur that caused her mission to begin. Though annoyed that his scheme had been thwarted, Ravage expressed pride in the independence of his underlings and graciously ejected them into space - a survivable situation for the pair and their [[Kiss Player]] cassette friends.

Ravage immediately recognized what a hydro electric station was, a method of generating power used on Cybertron "way way back in the mists of time," when Transformers were not much more advanced in science than humans are now.

'''Megatron''' has one goal -- restoring glory and power to the Predacon race, with himself at the helm. What distinguishes Megatron from the countless others who share this goal is his chutzpah. He is willing to risk everything — time, space, himself — if need be. And there were times he might have made it happen were it not for [[Optimus Primal]]

Megatron is skillful at orchestrating vast schemes by manipulating others into doing them for him -- an idle suggestion here, a conspicuously-planted object of interest there. He knows his enemies inside and out and exactly how to provoke them. He has no friends, only pawns, or occasionally, [[Inferno (BW)|pawns that are too reliable to risk losing]]. Because of this attitude, this superiority complex, he despises working with the very troops he needs to carry out his plans. His hubris does not make him very popular, and so he must rely on power and fear to rule them.

Megatron is a gambler and can sometimes be a ham. (His manner of saying "Yesss..." is practically vaudevillian.) He has a twisted sense of humor and an over-developed sense of drama which rule everything he conceives, both long and short term. When he destroys you, he wants you to know that it was he who did this, and just how badly you were had. This is his greatest weakness. Like a Bond villain, he'll gladly boast to the hero at length about how smart and clever he was, giving his victim time to formulate a counterattack (he admits the Predacons sometimes gloat too much). He often sabotages himself by neglecting the quick and easy solutions for the bigger, meaner, and more complex.

Prior to the signing of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], Megatron was a field commander in the Predacon army, where he learned much about strategy and tactics. Upon ratification of peace with the [[Maximal Imperium]] most Predacons laid down their arms. Megatron refused and went rogue.

Megatron instructed [[Tarantulas]] to study the disk for the coordinates of Earth while the ''Darkside'' battled its several pursuers. After crashing on a planet that was supposed to be [[Earth]], yet seemingly wasn't, both the [[Maximal]]s and the Predacons took organic beast forms to protect themselves against the massive amount of Energon radiation. Megatron now transformed into a purple ''Tyrannosaurus rex''.

Dinobot chastised Megatron, accusing him of leading the Predacons to the wrong planet and challenged Megatron for leadership of the Predacons. Megatron simply ignored the challenge and had Scorponok dispose of him. {{storylink|Beast Wars, Part 1}}

Despite the loss of a formidable crony, Megatron positioned himself on the new world and the "Beast Wars" began. Being on a world filled with Energon allowed [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] to find a superhorde, and power himself to great levels. With this power, Terrorsaur was able to demolish Megatron in battle and take over the Predacons. However, through the Maximals' actions, the superhorde was destroyed. Again, Terrorsaur tried to usurp Megatron, this time using an apparently-turned [[Rattrap]], who used a device to paralyze Megatron. The Predacons argued over who would be leader, but agreed to put Rattrap and Megatron away for the time being. Megatron was able to easily escape using his secret voice commands, leaving Rattrap to his fate. Revealing himself to have escaped, Megatron allowed Terrorsaur to lead the Predacons in battle with the Maximals. Terrorsaur failed miserably, showing his ineptitude to the Predacons, which was Megatron's plan all along. {{storylink|Double Jeopardy}}

Megatron later formulated a plan to get off Earth. First, he had the other Predacons act dissatisfied with his leadership, causing a battle that apparently destroyed the Predacons, using a Maximal spy camera that he was aware of to play out the trick. Then, the Maximals scavenged the ''Darksyde'' for parts to repair the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s stardrive. Dinobot discovered the deception and rushed to warn the leaving Maximals. In the scuffle, Megatron snuck aboard. In the ''Axalon'', he managed to knock out every Maximal on the ship but Rattrap, who he started crushing to death. An angered [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] woke up and threw Megatron off the ''Axalon''. However, Megatron's tail weapon was stuck in the console, causing the ''Axalon'' to crash. Later, Megatron caught wind of the return of the [[Vok]] and called a ceasefire between the two factions, realizing he had more important things to worry about. The Vok did indeed return, and planned to destroy the planet the Transformers were on with their massive [[Planet Buster]] (cleverly disguised as the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]). Optimus Primal managed to stop the planet buster after flying close to it within a modified stasis pod. Megatron added a little surprise for Primal within the pod, though; locking the door so that Primal could not escape and was destroyed when the planet buster exploded. {{storylink|Other Voices}}

The [[quantum surge]] from the exploding planet buster bathed Megatron in quantum energies, upgrading him into a [[transmetal]]. Megatron quickly rallied his forces and attempted an all-out attack on the leader-less Maximals. With both factions now aware that the planet they were stranded on was really prehistoric [[Earth]], Megatron was free to put his full plan into motion. By doing so, he intended to ensure the defeat of the [[Autobot]]s and thus the victory of the [[Decepticon]]s and Predacons. Megatron was not to be outdone. He managed to sneak inside the Ark (which was now the new Maximal base) and take the spark of the original Megatron, seeking to replicate the effect Optimus Prime's spark had on Primal's body. He placed his namesake's spark within his body, transforming himself into a powerful dragon. With this newfound body, Megatron was able to give Optimus Primal a sound beating, until chased away by the entire Maximal group. {{Storylink|Master Blaster}}

Megatron's next evil scheme involved the legendary Decepticon battleship, the [[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]. After finding the ship deep beneath the ocean, Megatron intended to pilot it back to the future and lay waste to the Maximals on Cybertron. {{storylink|Nemesis, Part 1}} First, however, he planned to annihilate the Ark on prehistoric Earth. Using technology of his own devising, he took over the entire planet, and stored the [[spark]] of every last inhabitant under his citadel.

Additionally, Megatron seemed to have undergone a change. Gone was the ham who sought conquest for the sake of glory and power. He now spoke as if a god, almost reminiscent of his quotes from the Covenant of Primus. His actions were based not on the thirst for revenge on Maximals but in hopes of becoming a grand liberator for their kind. In addition, while as recently as the final battle of the Beast Wars, he would flatten a subordinate for even mentioning "the H word" ("honor"), he now would keep his word to his enemies, even at the risk of future losses. Further, at some point in this period, Megatron became convinced that beast modes and other vestiges of the organic were an abomination that should be scoured from Cybertron, leaving only technological purity (whereas before he had seemed perfectly pleased with his dinosaur and dragon beast modes.) This was a new and even madder Megatron.

''As described above, the time period from when Megatron broke free from the shuttle, to when Optimus Primal and the Maximals arrived on Cybertron, was vastly transformative for both Megatron and the planet, and probably constituted an epic story in its own right. Nevertheless, the period was only vaguely described in the animated series, and only slightly elaborated upon in secondary media. Many questions remain unanswered.''

When the Maximals arrived in their shuttle, they found the planet empty aside from countless [[Vehicon|mindless drones]] controlled by Megatron. Megatron's drones immediately bombarded the Maximals with [[devolving gas]] to revert their powerful [[Transmetal]] bodies to normal beast mode bodies, and they were also affected by a [[transformation lock]] virus which Megatron had used to help him conquer the planet in the first place.

Despite his best efforts, the Maximals escaped, and learned to transform again after Primal used the [[Oracle]]'s power to [[reformatting|reformat]] them. They began making short work of his Vehicons, so he removed three sparks from his collection to create [[Vehicon general]]s which could think on their feet in battle. For the generals he chose sparks of Transformers that the Maximals already knew, such that if they ever discovered the sparks' identities, they would be reluctant to destroy them: [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] became [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]], [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] became [[Tankor]], and [[Waspinator]] became [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]]. After Jetstorm was reformatted into Silverbolt and Rhinox reawakened and destroyed, Megatron used the sparks of [[Obsidian (BM)|Obsidian]] and [[Strika]] to replace them.

However, Megatron still retained his own beast mode, unwilling to take the momentary risk of transferring his spark to a new body. After releasing the energies of the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] and the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]], Megatron attempted to transfer his spark to another body, but wound of stuck in [[Savage/Noble]], a purely organic creature. Eventually, Megatron would transfer his spark to the [[Grand Mal]], a vessel shaped in his own head. He attempted to consume the captured sparks, but [[Nightscream]] managed to depolarize his spark, causing it to jump between discarded shells and attack everyone in a zombie like fashion. Rattrap would use a [[spark extractor]] to repolarize his spark, allowing Megatron to regain his senses, but trapping him in a [[Diagnostic Drone]].

Ultimately, Megatron succeeded in capturing the sparks of all the Maximals, leaving just Optimus Primal and himself as the only two Transformers on the entire planet. At the end of a fierce one-on-one fight, in which Megatron wore a copy of the powerful Optimal Optimus body, Megatron began consuming his amassed sparks, growing ever more powerful. However, when he attempted to use the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] to transform the planet's [[organic core]] into [[technomatter]], Primal managed to dislodge them both. They plummeted into the planet's goopy core and, somehow, Primal was able to reformat the entire planet, destroying himself and Megatron completely, but freeing all the lost sparks to repopulate their newly redecorated planet.

Both Megatron and Optimus Primal awoke inside a bizarre temple-like spaceship which was hurtling through space. Neither had any memory of who they were or how they got there, only their own names and a feeling of discomfort between one another. The pair went about investigating the ship in search of answers. While Megatron's memory was lost, his personality remained mostly intact: he was more concerned with sezing control of the ship before Primal did in order to gain the upper hand.

They eventually found a data log and discovered that their sparks had been taken and they were reborn into new bodies (unbeknownst to them, bodies identical to their original forms). However, their memories were intentionally not uploaded into their new bodies. While searching the log they discovered that the ship's main power source was a [[Golden Disk]] lodged within a giant pillar. Megatron immediately raced to obtain the Disk and Primal followed him. The closer they got to the disk the more the ship attempted to thwart their advance by manipulating its atmosphere conditions.

Once they reached the chamber the ship's environment suddenly morphed to that of a decaying planet littered with the corpses of robots. The corpses came to life and began shambling toward them, intent on eating their sparks. They made short work of the zombies, leaving Megatron to obtain the Golden Disk and Primal with a feeling that he shouldn't entirely trust Megatron.

From another dimension beyond time and space, [[Primus]] recognized that something was amiss and sent one of his messengers to meet Primal and Megatron within the spaceship.

When [[Optimus Primal]]'s spark is revived from the within the Matrix to protect the multiverse, this action freed Megatron's spark as well. The reborn Megatron returned to the ranks of the Predacons, but this time, Optimus Primal found himself in an uneasy alliance with him against Unicron. Megatron traveled with his old nemesis from universe to universe, wherever the growing multiversal conflict had spread. But now with Unicron disappeared into the [[Unicron Singularity]], it remains to be seen whether Megatron's insane ambition will resurface.

Prior to the Universe Conflict an alternate dimension's Megatron was killed by a [[Razorclaw (Universe)|Tigerhawk]] who was corrupted by the Vok.
