Hoping to curve Big Convoy's psychotically anti-social behavior, the [[Maximal Elder|Maximal Elders]] ordered him to train a crew of unruly new recruits. Big Convoy loathed the assignment at first, but being a loyal soldier, accepted the task. His first mission was to explore [[Gaia]] and investigate the disappearance of [[Leo Prime]]. Little did he know, [[Magmatron]] and his [[Predacon|Predacons]] were following close behind him. After finding a black box message from Lio Convoy, Big Convoy learned of the [[Angolmois]] capsules ejected after the destruction of the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]]. Big Convoy then headed off with his group of trainees to collect the capsules, battling Magmatron every step of the way.

Big Convoy is not one for compassion or sentimental gobbly-gook. Because of this bitter attitude, [[Vector Sigma]] took it upon-itself to dispense words of wisdom and encouragement to the recruits directly ''through'' Big Convoy, via his [[Leadership Matrix]]. Big Convoy hated it at first, but over the course of the adventure, the sense of compassion began to rub-off on him and he started giving words of advice all on his own.

Eventually, after the Maximals and Predacons collected all the capsules, they were attacked by the [[Blentron]]s, a fearsome trio of nearly invincible Transformers. The Blentrons beat the mortal hell out of him, the Maximals and the Predacons, taking the Angolmois capsules. As it turned out, the Angolmois energy was really the essence of [[Unicron]] and the Blentrons were his creations.

The Blentrons released the Angolomois energy into the corpse of [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]], resurrecting Unicron. Big Convoy and the Maximals raced him back to [[Cybertron]] but were side-tracked by being sucked into a wormhole. It was actually the same wormhole that sucked-in Leo Prime and his crew after their battle against the Nemesis. Leo Prime told Big Convoy the history of Unicron and helped him escape the wormhole.

The Maximals arrived too late; Unicron had already destroyed the Maximal armada (and [[Great Convoy]] with it) and possessed Vector Sigma, turning Cybertron into his new body. Big Convoy, the Maximal recruits and Magmatron stood side-by-side to fight the menace. Unicron briefly exited Vector Sigma to swat his opponents. Using their new-found teamwork, the Maximals managed to hold Unicron off while Big Convoy powered up his trademarked '''Big Cannon''' with his own [[Leadership Matrix]]. This upgraded his Big Cannon into the '''Matrix Buster'''. Big Convoy unleashed a blast from his Matrix Buster directly into Unicron, seemingly destroying him.

With Unicron evicted from Vector Sigma, Big Convoy and Magmatron chose to put aside their differences. Together, all missing Maximals and Predacons set adrift (especially those from ''[[Beast Wars II]]'') returned to Cybertron to help rebuild the planet. In the final shot, Big Convoy, Magmatron and Leo Prime were shown standing side-by-side beneath Vector Sigma.

Some Autobots wonder why Grimlock is even on their side. His disposition is much more suited towards the [[Decepticons]]. After all, he values power and strength over wisdom and compassion, and furthermore, he doesn't get along with any of the Autobots. It's been hypothesized that Grimlock just hates [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] more than he hates Optimus. (Which means he must hate him A LOT.)

Comic Grimlock (and the other Dinobots as well) were much more intelligent than their Cartoon counterparts. They weren't Perceptor mind you, but they had average, functional intellects. When he first appeared in the comic Grimlock spoke normally, but later the Comic adopted the caveman-esque speach of the cartoon (though only for Grimlock himself, the other Dinobots continued to speak normally.) This vocal tic was alternately portrayed as a malfunction or an intentional choice by Grimlock, but in either case, he retained his full intelligence. Grimlock was a powerful and arrogant warrior who believed he knew best. He ascended to the post of overall Autobot leader on several occasions, growing in the process and eventually, despite their original conflict, becoming Optimus's hand-picked leutenant and likely successor. Early on, [[Blaster]] was a major thorn in his side, deserting his command. Later, he tended to fight with the straight-laced, logical [[Prowl]].

Cartoon Grimlock, like all the cartoon Dinobots, has a stereotypical "caveman" type personality and intellect level. They originally decide to help the Autobots, for instance, because "them have face like this on chest..." Pre-movie this lack of intelligence is usually coupled together with their great power to make them dangerous wild cards; Post-movie, however, Grimlock and the Dinobots are generally played as just plain dumb for comic relief.

When mysterious tremors shook the [[Ark|Autobot base]], [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]]'s investigation revealed strange objects behind a rock wall. After removing the wall, the Autobots found a cave full of dinosaur bones. The Autobots decided the idea of dinosaurs was interesting and researched the prehistoric beasts. Wheeljack and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] asked Optimus Prime if they could build robot dinosaurs, and Prime agreed this was a good idea. Grimlock, [[Slag (G1)|Slag]], and [[Sludge (G1)|Sludge]] were built and unveiled to the Autobots, but the Dinobots were dimwitted and violent, and they attacked their makers. Grimlock blasted [[Teletraan I]] with his fire-breath, damaging it. Optimus Prime decreed that the Dinobots ''must be destroyed''. However, Wheeljack convinced him instead to lock them away, and the trio were herded back into the cave and buried alive.

Later, the Decepticons took over a hydroelectric plant, but when the Autobots arrived to stop them, the Autobots were defeated and captured. Wheeljack, Ratchet, and [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], left behind at Autobot base to finish repairing Teletraan-I, decided to go against Optimus' orders and release the Dinobots, but not before upgrading their brains to be smarter and more obedient. After the Dinobots are reactivated, Wheeljack asks them to save their friends. Grimlock says he will obey... this time. They successfully attack the Decepticons and free the imprisoned Autobots. Optimus forgives Wheeljack, Ratchet, and Bumblebee for disobeying his orders and welcomes the victorious Dinobots back to the Autobots.

After a meteor surging with unknown energies struck the Earth, Optimus ordered the three Dinobots to guard it. He was so pleased with the Dinobots he asked Ratchet and Wheeljack to build two more. Meanwhile, Megatron was frustrated at the Dinobots' success, and sent [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] to probe them for potential weaknesses. Reading the Dinobots' minds, he discovered that Grimlock was arrogant and believed he would make a better leader than the weak Optimus Prime. Megatron decided to use this to his advantage, and approached them himself. He played to Grimlock's jealousy and agreed with him that the strongest should be leader. The Dinobots declared Optimus Prime their enemy.

Realizing the meteorite was due to explode, Optimus left to warn the Dinobots, but they attacked him. Instead of destroying him completely, however, Grimlock carried him to the Decepticons, who had stolen the meteorite during the battle. Megatron was angry that Optimus Prime was not destroyed, and Starscream suggested that despite Grimlock's arrogance, inside he was still compassionate. This enraged Grimlock. They were interrupted by the two new Dinobots, [[Snarl (G1)|Snarl]] and [[Swoop (G1)|Swoop]], whom Megatron ordered the original three Dinobots to attack. At the climax of the battle, the meteorite exploded, but Optimus Prime pushed Grimlock out of the way, saving him. Grimlock realized the error of his ways and the Dinobots forced the Decepticons into retreat. Grimlock apologized for his jealousy.

The Decepticons joined forces with [[Sub-Atlantica]] and staged a full-scale attack on [[Washington, D.C.]]. The Autobots were overwhelmed, forcing Wheeljack to call for the Dinobots' assistance. Grimlock expressed his frustration at being called whenever the Autobots were in over their heads. With their help, the Autobots were able to overturn the Decepticons' advance and plunge the city of Sub-Atlantica, burning, into the sea. This pattern of the Autobots' dependence on the Dinobots repeated when the artificial intelligence [[TORQ III]] turned machines against mankind. With every piece of help he and his troops gave, Grimlock was never slow to add a scathing remark about the inabilities of the Autobots. That said, he was not unwilling to admit the failings of his own troops, either, and willingly took them to the time-displaced "Dinobot Island," where they trained in the wilderness and helped stop a Decepticon raid on the prehistoric paradise.

The final straw for Grimlock came when he and the Dinobots were injured in a Decepticon trap at an airfield. Enraged, Grimlock refused to take orders from Optimus Prime any more, and led the Dinobots away from the Ark. When the Autobots began to suffer from Cybertonium deficiency, Spike Witwicky and his girlfriend Carly attempted to persuade the Dinobots - who continued to function perfectly, as they had been built on Earth without Cybertonium - to steal some of the mineral from a Decepticon shipment coming in from Cybertron. Grimlock instead opted to lead the Dinobots to Cybertron itself, where they were captured by [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] and put to work in the Cybertonium mines, until Spike and Carly rescued them. Brought back to Earth, the Dinobots agreed to follow Prime's order again - until such time as Grimlock didn't feel like it.

By the Earth year 2005, it seemed apparent that Grimlock had undergone some degree of a personality change, becoming more childish and petulant, rather than brutish and stubborn. Throughtout 2006, he regularly participated in missions with his fellow Autobots rather than the other Dinobots, battling on the planets of [[Chaar]], Goo, Dredd and Eurythma. He and [[Daniel Witwicky]] were transported to the sorcerous other-dimensional realm of Menonia, where Grimlock was duped into fighting on the side of the tyrannical [[Quintesson]], the Red Wizard, and later, he helped to sniff out the "dinosaur transform static" that implicated [[Trypticon]] in the theft of world monuments. Later in the year, when Decepticon leader [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] had Cybertron infused with function-inverting anti-electrons, a dose of the particles gave Grimlock super-intelligence. During a mission to [[Unicron]]'s disembodied head, where the Autobots were outmatched by the new Decepticon [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]], Grimlock used components of Unicron's head to construct the [[Technobot|Technobots]] to battle them. Combined as Computron, the Technobots felt they could not match the Terrorcons, until Grimlock transferred his super-intelligence into Computron, reverting to his old self and allowing the Technobots to claim victory.

Grimlock's greatest victory came when he and a large number of other Transformers with animal transformations were summoned to a world at the centre of the galaxy by the ex-assistant of the ancient genius, [[Primacron]], creator of Unicron. The assistant had assembled these "Primitive" Transformers in the hope that their simple instincts could defeat Primacron's newest creation, [[Tornedron]], but one by one they fell to him, with Grimlock apparently crushed under [[Trypticon]]. Grimlock survived, however, and followed Tornedron back to Primacron's lab. When Tornedron turned on his master, like his predecessor, Primacron's complicated plans and equations could not find a way to stop him; Grimlock, on the other hand, randomly flicked a switch which reversed Tornedron's energy polarity, undoing the damage he and done and dissipating. Dancing around over his successful saving of the universe, Grimlock decimated Primacron's lab, dubbing it the smartest thing he'd ever done

After [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] destroyed a caché of Energon the Dynobots had been hoarding, causing them severe Energon burns and causing them to feel humiliated, they swore revenge. And so, against orders from Optimus Prime, they followed Shockwave when he left Cybertron to stablise "Ultra-Energon" deposits he had sent to other worlds as a precaution against the depletion of Cybertron's own Energon reserves.

When Shockwave reached his first destination - Earth, at the end of the last Ice Age - the Dynobots destroyed his ship and, reluctantly in Grimlock's case, took on dinosaur alternate modes with synthetic flesh coatings to protect against the high levels of Energon radiation (see also [[Beast Wars]]), Grimlock having rejected the suggestion of a mammoth alternate mode as even less palatable.

On transporting down to the planet's surface to confront Shockwave, they gained an initial advantage, as Shockwave's logic was unable to comprehend the effort and risks they had taken for their revenge. However, when Shockwave recognised this weakness shut down his logic processors and operated a "rage" program to enable him to operate on pure instinct, he shrugged off their attacks and beat them severely, ending by burning off their organic coatings. Unable to accept another defeat, Grimlock transformed to robot mode and fought against his immenent [[stasis lock]] to no avail.

However, before leaving the Dynobots' ship, he had enabled a "dead man's switch", designed to take Shockwave with them if they were defeated. On entering stasis lock, this failsafe activated, firing on a nearby dormant volcano, causing an eruption which buried Shockwave and the Dynobots under ash and lava.

However, in 2006, Shockwave was discovered by a team of human archelogists. Whether he, Grimlock or the rest of the Dynobots can/will be reactivated remains to be seen.

He's considerably less interested in applying them to combat, though he's certainly no slouch in that department. Still, he'd rather leave the slice-and-dice to his feistier brother [[Offshoot (Energon)|Offshoot]].

He is very intelligent, and his ability to to both detect and manipulate Energon in its various forms, be it solid, energy or gaseous, make him an invaluable member of the [[Autobot]] forces.

A team of Signal Flares was vital in the proces of building [[Energon Towers]]. A Signal Flare also scanned and replicated the [[Megatron Sword]], while another one (well, presumably another one) discovered that [[Alpha Quintesson]]'s sun produces Energon radiation.

They then went to [[Earth]] to stop [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]] and his [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcons]] in Australia.

Proving to be a bit too out of control to base near human cities, they were sent to the site of a new energon well in the Yukon. They were captured by [[Cyclonus (Armada)|Snow Cat]] while blowing off some steam, who attempted to rewrite their programming to turn them into Decepticons. Subconciously guided by the snarky floating advice-giving head of Over-Run, they managed to break free by combining their powers. More teamwork led to Snow Cat's defeat, and a better understanding of their abilities.

On a mission of exploration to prehistoric Earth, Skyfire was lost in a storm. Starscream searched, but there was no sign of his comrade. He returned home.

Millions of years later, after the Autobots and Decepticons had crashed and awoken on Earth, the Decepticons found and revived Skyfire, encased in a block of Arctic ice. Skyfire joined them due to his past friendship with Starscream, though he expressed discomfort with their methods. When Skyfire's compassion for humans led to his disobeying orders, Starscream, who had changed much in the intervening millennia, turned on his friend. Skyfire left the Decepticons and joined the Autobots, sacrificing himself to be buried beneath the ice again to stop the Decepticons' plans. The Autobots held a memorial service in his memory at the location of his involuntary burial.

Megatron and his Decepticons were in [[Brazil]] seeking the [[Crystal of Power]], which was kept in an Aztec temple. After battling the Decepticons, Skyfire arrived at the temple to find [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] guarding it and the crystal inside. Thundercracker was angry at Starscream, and was willing to let Skyfire past him to destroy the crystal so long as Starscream got in trouble. Starscream overheard this and shot Skyfire in the back, knocking him out.

At one point, Optimus Prime actually pats Skyfire on his jet mode's nosecone, like a dog. Sucks to be Skyfire.

Optimus Prime had secretly passed the energies of the Matrix onto the teenaged [[human]], [[Buster Witwicky]], so Shockwave was stopped short of giving Jetfire's constructed body life. Shockwave soon learned of the human's involvement, so he sent Jetfire after the human anyway, though the lifeless robot could do nothing more than follow orders. When Jetfire found Buster, he was accompanied by the Autobots [[Bluestreak]] and [[Bumblebee]] for his protection, but it was Buster's Creation Matrix powers that ultimately disassembled Jetfire before their eyes. Buster reassembled Jetfire, and with Bumblebee's help, changes were made to allow Buster to directly control him.

In the meantime, knowing that the Autobots were eavesdropping on him, Shockwave sent Jetfire to drop a fake Optimus Prime head at a disclosed location for the Autobots to find. At the last moment, Buster was able to control Jetfire once again, knocking out Shockwave, and delivering the true Optimus Prime head to the Autobots, allowing for them a costly victory.

With Optimus Prime fully restored, Jetfire was quickly given life and joined the Autobots, the [[Rite of the Autobrand]] marking him as one of their rank. When Bumblebee, depressed, had left the Autobots and gotten himself attacked by the Decepticons, Jetfire eagerly came to his rescue. Later, Jetfire helped the Autobots approach the Decepticon base to steal information that would allow them to build their own [[combiner]]s. He also accompanied [[Donny Finkleberg]] to the spot where Finkleberg claimed seven Autobots had crossed over from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], though they found nothing but traces of oil.

After the death of Optimus Prime, Jetfire voted for the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] to take command. He later seemed to regret this decision, offering to help [[Blaster]] usurp him, and when the rivalry ended in a duel staged on Earth's moon, he was among the Autobots who watched. When the Autobots were ambushed by the entire Decepticon army, he was blasted out of the sky by both [[Vortex]] and [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]].

Before the war, the scientist Jetfire and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] were friends. But when Starscream joined the Decepticons in their assault on outlying city-states, Jetfire was torn. If he followed his beliefs and upheld justice and life, he would end up facing his dearest friend on the battlefield. Jetfire did end up with the Autobots, but not before a barrior of distrust had been built between them due to his inaction and his past loyalties.

Jetfire, Grimlock, [[Hot Spot (G1)|Hot Spot]], and [[Blitzwing]] were the "[[Angles of Dissolution]]," four "unique sparks" which could catalyze the breach of the [[Seal of Primus]]. Combined forces from several factions penetrated the Fallen's operation, but despite Jetfire and Grimlock's teamwork, the Fallen was destroyed only by his own scheme -- the hand of [[Primus]] reached out, awaken, from his slumber, and smote the enigmatic being to pieces. Jetfire, a skeptic towards things supernatural, began to wonder if there might be something bigger than them going on, something no one could comprehend.

The Technobots were badly damaged and Jetfire was captured. When he revived, he found his [[Pretender|captors]] worshipping the reanimated corpse of [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]].

Their leader, [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]], wished to revisit the mad scientist's plot and harness the power that accelerated the planet's death in a apocalyptic torrent all those years ago. Jetfire pleaded with Bludgeon not to again unleash the powers that destroyed his planet, but he was ignored, and his attempts to escape were thwarted. Thanks to a distress signal sent by the remaining Technobots in the ''Calabi-Yau'', [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Wreckers]] soon arrived, released Jetfire, and defeated his captors, just before an alert system announced the arrival of Thunderwing, newly reborn...
Jetfire was able to figure out that the ultra energon powering thunderwing would deplete in a prolonged struggle. This allowed Optimus Prime, the wreckers, and the mayhem attack squad to stop the monstrosity without destroying cybertron.

==Why "Skyfire"?==

We may never be certain of the exact circumstances behind the change from Jetfire to Skyfire. There are, however, a few known factors, and a lot of theories.

* Not all of Hasbro's ''Transformers'' product originated with [[Takara]]. The ''Macross'' Super Valkyrie, the toy that would become Jetfire, came from a company called Takatoku (who were also responsible for the toys that became [[Roadbuster]], [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]], and the [[Insecticon (G1)|deluxe Insecticons]]). Why did Hasbro market non-Takara product? [[Bob Prupis]], one of the original members of the Transformers marketing team, would frequently go to Toy Fairs in Asia, where ''"any product that really looked good that was exciting we didn't care where it came from. We did some work with Bandai, who had been working with other people, and took a few products that looked right for our line"''[http://groups.google.com/group/alt.toys.transformers/msg/94f5cb70b08a646d?hl=en&]. The Super Valkyrie, then, must have met their criteria for inclusion.

* As a larger toy, it would follow that Hasbro would want to sell Jetfire by including him in the Transformers animated series. However, even though Hasbro had the rights to release Takatoku's Super Valkyrie in the US ''Transformers'' toyline, Hasbro's chief collaborator on ''Transformers'' was still Takara. It may have been that Takara always had plans to air the Transformer animated series in their own market (as it featured a majority of their products), and objected to the inclusion of a competitor's product on the show. * The evidence of ''Robotech'' influencing Jetfire-related decisions is murky. That show began airing in syndication in March of 1985, whereas ''"Fire In The Sky"'', the first episode with Skyfire, aired December 8th, 1984 - and would have had to have been written and animated much before then. Statements indicate that it took nine months to edit Robotech together, placing the start of production somewhere around July of 1984. So... who knows. All that's certain is that Hasbro licensing the Super Valkyrie seemingly '''did''' prevent the use of that toy in Matchbox's ''Robotech'' toyline.

Moon is a relic from the past of the planet [[Gaia]]. While a transforming bunny rabbit, he is not of [[Cybertron|Cybertronian]] origin. He is stationed on the moon orbiting the planet along with his partner, [[Artemis]]. Together, they watch the battle unfold between the [[Maximal|Maximals]] and the [[Predacon|Predacons]], gathering data in secret. He also ends every sentence with the word "moon".

Moon's special ability is the power to become invisible.

Moon, along with Artemis, watched over the Beast Wars on planet Gaia, gathering information on the events and organizing the data. At first they made a stern effort not to interact with the Transformers on Gaia, until [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] summoned the battleship [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], which threatened the entire planet.

Choosing to side with the Maximals, Moon and Artemis aided the good guys in reaching the Nemesis from Gaia and were instrumental in the final battle.

After the defeat of [[Unicron]], both Moon and Artemis were invited to stay on [[Cybertron]] and helped rebuild the war-torn planet.
