Transformers references
* This entire comic was a tribute to Derek Yaniger's artwork in the Marvel Generation 2 comics.
* Colonel Deathsaurus's pose is also identical to Bludgeon's on the third page of "Tales of Earth Part One" from the Generation 2 comics.
* Bug Bite's pose is lifted from Sideswipe's first appearance in Generation 2 #1, "War Without End!".
* Dirge features more homages than you can shake a Pretender shell at.
* The four Pretender shells on the first page are the shells of the Classic Pretenders, while the other two shells on the second page are the unreleased Double Pretenders.
* Goldbug looks forward to the Decepticon uprising being "FINISHED... OVER!" Man, even the Furmanisms are backwards in the mirrorverse!
* Given that the "Shattered" equivalents of the four Classic Pretender characters are all present (Goldbug, Grimlock, Jazz, and Starscream), and they've just discovered four Pretender shells that look like those from the main universe, it seems likely that if this story had continued, they each would have taken and used their shells.
Trivia
*When it was released online, this comic was supposed to be a three page preview to Shattered Glass. It was actually an April Fools joke. A really good one. Ironically, the story and characters (Mr. T Jazz, Criminal genius Grimlock etc) were all extremely popular, and influenced the actual "Shattered Glass" comic and universe.
*The comic was reprinted in its entirety as part of the Diamond release of the Shattered Glass comic issue.
Arise, Thunderwing!

Synopsis
Unicron has consumed another planet on his journey to Cybertron and Primus, and takes a moment to recreate three mechanical misfits as his new heralds, Hook, Line, and Sinker. Unable to teleport himself the full distance to Cybertron, Unicron requires an agent that can be sent ahead to sow fear and spread his name. He transports his heralds through the veil of time to fetch this agent.

Aboard the Ark, Thunderwing realizes the full power of the Matrix... by using it as a club to smackdown on Optimus Prime. As Hot Rod leads a group of Autobots to Prime's aid, Thunderwing strikes down Landmine with a single blast, killing him instantly. He then scatters the remaining Autobots like tenpins. Believing himself to be all-powerful and unstoppable, Thunderwing is surprised when Optimus breaks through his defenses and beats the Decepticon to the ground. As Prime is about to drop some heavy debris on Thunderwing, though, the crafty robot taunts him with the fact that he might damage the Matrix as well, his last hope. This momentary pause puts Optimus on the defensive, and Thunderwing returns the beating he had just received from Prime.

Barely conscious, Prime stalls for time by pulling out the old "Tell me your master plan" trick. The corrupted Matrix is smart enough to push Thunderwing into just killing the Autobot already, but Thunderwing ignores its influence to stroke his ego. Flashing back to VsQs, Thunderwing explains how the tainted life-force cried out for help once Bumblebee got ahold of it — it didn't want an end to its new sensations. Momentarily distracted, Thunderwing managed to impale the Matrix-spawn on a wall and end their fight. He chased down the Classic Pretenders and recovered the Matrix, leaving them to die in the crushing gravity of VsQs while he stole their ship to enter the Ark.

His tale completed, Thunderwing had yammered on long enough for Autobot reinforcements to arrive, and Highbrow and Brainstorm managed to get in a few good shots from behind. Fearing the loss of its vessel, the Matrix's corrupted essence finally manifested itself physically as a horned and fanged creature of smoky energy, rising up around Thunderwing to control and protect him.

Back on the Trojan shuttle, Nightbeat and his fellow Matrix hunters are staring on in disbelief. After a power surge freed them from captivity aboard the Decepticon ship, they overheard Thunderwing's plan to infiltrate the Ark, and snuck aboard Grimlock's ship in order to monkey up the plan somehow. Now the only trick is finding out how.

Interlude: Once again, a shadowy figure dressed in purple who speaks only in the scientific method is seen, this time spying on the exit of Scorponok's base. He witnesses Starscream emerge and sneak off into the night, and makes plans to incorporate the treacherous Decepticon into his strategy. (No, really... WHO could this possibly be?)

Back on the Ark, Thunderwing's mind has been completely subsumed by the Matrix's dark essence, and he's dropping Autobots left and right. Optimus Prime tries to reach Thunderwing's mind and convince him he has been possessed, but he refuses to listen. Only when the Decepticon Spinister speaks up and tries to tell him the same thing (and gets blasted for it by the Matrix) does Thunderwing realize he's losing control.

Meanwhile, Nightbeat has come up with a plan. He sends Hosehead to the control station in the hangar to open the bay doors and turn off the artificial gravity, while Siren is to set the shuttle's self-destruct mechanism. Nightbeat personally aims the shuttle's grappling harpoon at Thunderwing and fires, catching him straight through the chest before he can finish off Prime. With the gravity off and the landing clamps released, the shuttle is sucked out into space with Thunderwing and the Matrix still attached to it. Nightbeat manages to jump to safety, and Hosehead restores the pressure and gravity to the hangar.

The fighting is over, as Thunderwing's Decepticons are in no mood for more combat. Beaten and demoralized, the Autobots collect their prisoners and count their losses, mourning the loss of the Matrix. Prime gives his best rousing speech of morale, but there are definitely darker days ahead...
It contains Galvatron's spark, his lifeforce. The Galva-Matrix is capable of absorbing Angolmois energy, amping Galvatron's power, and is bonded with the artificial planet Nemesis.

The Galva-Matrix is what connected Galvatron to Nemesis and gave him power over the warship. After Nemesis had absorbed all the Angolmois energy on Gaea, Galvatron channeled the Angolmois into his body using his Galva-Matrix. It gave Galvatron incredible strength and caused him to grow to a towering height. Lio Convoy and Lio Junior combined into the Legendary Green Lion through their Energon Matrices and used their combined might to siphon off the Angolmois within Galvatron and eject it into deep space within capsules.

Galvatron, not willing to say die, played his final card. He used his Galva-Matrix to set Nemesis to explode. The Legendary Green Lion then engaged Galvatron in a final battle to which they seemed equally matched. Then, Lio Convoy and Lio Junior separated, disorienting Galvatron for a brief instant, allowing Lio Convoy to stab his Lio-Claw directly through Galvatron's Galva-Matrix, shattering the crystal and killing Galvatron. Then Nemesis blew up.
Completely without mercy or fear, Megazarak is responsible for the near-annihilation of the Autobots in his timestream, including their Optimus Prime. He amassed a small army of loyal followers - among them Caliburn, Sunstorm, Dreadwind and Smokejumper - and tore through Cybertron in a genocidal war unprecedented in this Cybertron's history... and most other Cybertrons, in fact. The surface of the planet is littered with the remains of Autobot and Decepticon alike, but mostly Autobot. He has utterly decimated the planet, leaving only his followers and a tiny handful of straggling Autobot resistance fighters lurking deep within the planet.
Their first stop was Maccadam's Old Oil House, where they found a pair of Decepticons, Jackhammer and Crush Groove. When the pair were unwilling to join them, Nemesis and Ramjet quickly dispatched them. Nemesis realized what was left of Cybertron's inhabitants were useless to them, and so Ramjet suggested they pay a visit to Alpha Trion themselves.

Alpha Trion, deep within Cybertron with Vector Sigma, was flanked by Vector Prime and Sentinel Maximus. Ramjet kept Vector Prime busy, and Sentinel Maximus was unable to prevent Nemesis Prime from grabbing Alpha Trion by the head and slamming him into Vector Sigma. After a blast from Ramjet, Alpha Trion and Vector Sigma both lay in ruins, and the two servants of Unicron made their escape. Balancing Act (issue)

Standing on the corpses of more destroyed Transformers, Nemesis Prime and Ramjet enlisted Scrapmetal drones to interface with the planet's computer systems to find Primus' spark core chamber. Balancing Act, Part 2 After Ramjet enlisted the Velocitronian, Skyfall, with promises of telling of him about his forgotten past, Balancing Act, Part 3 Nemesis Prime's search for the location of Primus' essence was finally complete. They found Downshift guarding it, and Nemesis pinned him to the wall with one of his hip-harpoons. But Downshift had alerted Vector Prime and Sentinel Maximus, and the two Autobots arrived quickly to prevent them from reaching Primus' spark. Balancing Act, Part 4

Nemesis Prime found himself facing Sentinel Maximus again, and they battled each other while traveling down the hallway leading to the spark core chamber. Unfortunately for Sentinel, Nemesis was able to blast the tunnel behind him, leaving Sentinel alone with Primus' spark core. Wasting no time, Nemesis Prime revealed the Dark Matrix from his chest compartment, and its evil energies began filling the room. Balancing Act, Pt 5

However, Nemesis Prime was defeated by Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, who were teleported to this Cybertron en route from the end of the Universe war. Revelations Part 1 Nemesis Prime suffered heavy damage at the hands of Ultra Magnus and was sealed away inside an energon damping cell, while the Dead Matrix was locked away in the Archives. Revelations Part 2

Nine hundred thousand years after Nemesis Prime was defeated in battle by the Autobots, he was inducted into the Alternity, a race of highly-evolved Transformers who can travel the multiverse at will, healing his damaged mind with the enlightenment that this new state of being conferred. His "Vector - 704" Auto-avatar, a black Nissan GT-R, allows him to blend in on modern-day Earth, where he aids the Alternity in their mission. He secretly wishes to take his revenge against Unicron, but he knows his current mission against the greater threat of Hytherion is more pressing. Because of his past, he is more ruthless in battle than his peers.

After Megatron gained powers equal to those of the Alternity by bonding himself to the hyper-dimensional beast known as Hytherion, Nemesis Prime battled one of the villains' Auto-avatars in a barren, burning landscape. Exploiting Megatron's unfamiliarity with higher-dimensional combat, Nemesis Prime easily trapped the Decepticon within a closed time-loop, where he was repeatedly struck by the same laser blast over and over again, until he was reduced to scrap. Following the battle, Nemesis Prime was approached by Protector Elita Seven, who had been observing the fight and took issue with Prime's brutal methods. When she addressed him as a "deity", he told her to call him "Knight of Darkness" instead. Arch-Nemesis!
* Nemesis Prime (Ultra, 2004)

: Nemesis Prime is a redeco of Big Convoy, released as a Target exclusive in 2004 as part of the Universe line. He transforms into a woolly mammoth, with a "third mode" composed of robot weaponry emerging from the mammoth's hide. Concealed in the mammoth's head and back are a plasma pulse cannon and a semi-automatic fusion rocket launcher. His arms conceal blood-red painted battle tonfas, and his hips house variable-frequency Gatling lasers. Attached to his ankles are a pair of ordnance launchers, the quarrels of which Nemesis Prime has also used in melee combat. The front of the chest folds down to reveal the Dead Matrix, which can be removed and pegged into Nemesis Prime's hands.

: Nemesis Prime is a renowned shellformer.

: The instruction booklet had the transformation sequence going from beast mode to robot mode while the toy itself was packaged in robot mode. This, along with the fact that several parts were turned backwards to better fit into the box, made it a tad difficult to correctly transform for inexperienced Transformers fans.
Notes
* Alternators Nemesis Prime's bio makes vague reference to that character's life force coming from an "extra-spatial power source of unheard of proportions." According to the author of the bio, the power source was related to Unicron, and when Dr. Arkeville accessed it to animate his creation, he received a spark fragment from the cloning experiments that created this Nemesis Prime.fact

* Nemesis Prime and Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime seemed to recognize one another on their first encounter. Nemesis probably recognized Optimus as a version of his former self, and Optimus probably mistook Nemesis as Scourge. Alternate universes are fun!

* Alternity Convoy Super Black is totally this guy. His packaging bio notes that he was a clone of a dead Prime, who was tortured for thousands of years by Unicron and made to serve him. Following his defeat by an Autobot, he was reformed.
