Synopsis
With Star Saber and Blacker injured and God Ginrai fatally wounded, the Decepticons exploit the Autobots' loss of manpower by successfully ransacking a solar power station, and attacking the New Cheyenne Airport fuel depot in North America. While the Multiforce and Rescue Team head to the airport, the injured Star Saber is forced to enter the battle at the solar base with Laster and Braver, despite being barely able to stand. After Star Saber departs, the recuperating Blacker decides to go into action alongside the Multiforce and Rescues.

Meanwhile, in the Shuttle Base's intensive care room, expert Autobot scientists and medics Perceptor, Wheeljack and Minerva have been called in to tend to God Ginrai, who has been paralyzed from the neck down. Hallucinating, he recalls the time that Star Saber told him he had been offered the role of Supreme Commander, and his vow to help his friend out, even at the cost of his life.

At the New Cheyenne Airport, Galaxy Shuttle arrives and air-drops the Autobots over the heads of the Dinoforce below. Blacker attempts to transform in mid-air, but his injuries prevent him and he crash-lands roughly. Pīpō attempts to administer first aid, but Blacker refuses, and the battle begins to rage.

At the solar power station, Deathsaurus and Leozack watch as copious amounts of energy are loaded into the Thunder Arrow. Star Saber, Laster and Braver soon come soaring into view, but as soon as they hit the ground, Star Saber buckles and collapses, and the two Brainmasters have to shield him from Breastforce fire. Determined to stop Deathsaurus, Star Saber struggles on.

Back in the Shuttle Base, a regretful Perceptor informs God Ginrai that there is nothing they can do for him. However, the scientist explains that despite the irreparable damage to his body, his internal systems are functional and could be transplanted into a new body, but that he would no longer truly be "God Ginrai" if this process were to be performed. God Ginrai is at first complacent in his situation, and willing to die without regret, but when he asks for a further explanation, Perceptor suddenly back-pedals and tells him to forget it. Before Perceptor can stop him, Wheeljack blurts out that there is a pre-existing design that they can use to reconstruct his body. Perceptor silences him before he can say any more, but Ginrai now demands to know the full story.

As the battle continues to rage at the solar power station, Deathsaurus again unleashes his Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon against the weakened Star Saber. In the midst of the fight, Jean contacts Star Saber to let him know that Ginrai wishes to speak with him right away. Although fearing the worst, Star Saber is unwilling to leave the battlefield until Braver tells him to go, realizing that Ginrai would not make such a request of the Supreme Commander unless he had to. Star Saber speeds back to the Shuttle Base, where he is enraged to discover that Perceptor and Wheeljack have told Ginrai about a design he created for a personal power-enhancement system. Ginrai requests that Star Saber permit his body to be reconstructed according to this design, but Star Saber is appalled, wholly unwilling to use his friend's body in such a manner. Both Star Saber and Jean try to change Ginrai's mind, knowing that the process first requires the cessation of his life functions, and that his subsequent rebirth will mean that disappearance of the being they know, but the Godmaster is resolute.

Back on the two battlefields, things are not going well for the Autobots. At the airport, the Dinoforce escape with energy in tow, leaving Blacker and the Multiforce badly injured. At the solar base, Laster and Braver have likewise been bested, and Deathsaurus cackles over his victory as the Thunder Arrow departs with a full load of energy. The wounded Autobots limp back to the Shuttle Base, arriving just in time to witness the beginning of God Ginrai's reconstruction. As the Godmaster's body is lowered into a recessed chamber and a transparent shield lowers into place above him, Jean bangs his fists on the shield and cries out to Ginrai. Minerva is forced to lift him to safety, and the fatal switch is thrown, as the process begins, and God Ginrai… dies...
"Don't take it the wrong way. You're only done for as God Ginrai."<br />
"What do you mean?"<br />
"If you were a human, your heart and internal organs would still be functional. So that leaves us with one last option. But you will no longer be the same God Ginrai."<br />
"You don't need to console me."<br />
:—Perceptor offers God Ginrai one last ray of hope.

"Don't give up. This only means a part of you will cease to exist."<br />
"But what does that mean?"<br />
"Let me give you an example. When a man dies, his vital organs still function for a while. Well, apart from his brain, that is. That means, all one needs is a new brain that will work."<br />
"You're just trying to console me."<br />
:—Perceptor is somewhat less successful in the Omni Productions dub's take on the same scene.

Notes
Lost in translation
Among the changes made by the Omni Productions dub:
* Talk of civilian casualties is tactfully removed.
* Ginrai's voice is strained even during his the flashback.
* Jean tries to get someone to tell Star Saber and co to return to base, rather than wanting to go there and help.
* When Perceptor tells Wheeljack and Minerva that the next few minutes are vital, they both respond with "Right!" and they both have male voices.

Animation or technical errors
* Wheeljack's shoulder cannon is colored red in a shot of him and Minerva, and occasionally missing altogether.

Continuity errors
* Wheeljack, of course, died in The Transformers: The Movie, but here he is, fit and healthy. This is another one of those oddities that results from the movie not reaching Japan until after Victory aired, and the writers and animators being unaware that the character was supposed to be dead.

Continuity notes
* Blacker was wounded back in "Crisis! Ambush in the Desert".
* Star Saber and Ginrai suffered their injuries in "A Deadly Battle".
* Remember that this Minerva is the wholly robotic Transtector which came to life in "A Battle... and Then...".

Trivia
* Rather than begin with a preview of the episode itself, this instalment of Victory begins with a recap of the previous episode.
* For some reason, this episode refrains from actually naming its three medical guest-stars (with Perceptor simply called "the doctor"), although Perceptor and Wheeljack are both listed by name in the credits. Both are voiced by different actors than those that played them in Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers; Minerva does not speak.
* Of course, this episode marks the last apperance of God Ginrai before he's reborn.
Synopsis
Out on patrol, Cheetor and Tigatron stare in awe at "the light at the end of the world," as the alien machine continues powering up in space. Primal makes contact and orders them to return to base. Rattrap is pessimistic about their chances of survival, but Primal assures him that Rhinox will find a way for them to survive.

The alien bungalow finishes transferring power to the moon, and in a flash, the aliens depart: "Termination sequence engaged. Return to Nexus Zero."

Megatron and the Predacons observe this from their base. Confronted with a machine intended to destroy them, Megatron activates a special program and scans the Maximal base, locating the spiders and Inferno within.

Tarantulas is nearly finished converting a stored stasis pod into his escape ship. Blackarachnia observes that it's a little cramped for two...but, weapon drawn, she has no intention of sharing the ride. Inferno arrives just then, blasts her, and sets Tarantulas on fire, knocking him out. Back at the Predacon base, Megatron detects the aborted flow of data to the stasis pod ship and reacts with fury.

Inferno starts to examine Tarantulas's work, but is attacked by Blackarachnia, who eludes him with a display of gymnastics before blasting him with his own gun. Picking up Tarantulas's cyber-link goggles, she forms a link with the unconscious Tarantulas to obtain the data needed to finish the pod ship—but finds that staring into the abyss of the spider's mind means that it also stares back...

The Maximals arrive at base, alarmed to find the shields down. Inside, they find Rhinox and Dinobot cyber-webbed to the ceiling. Primal sends Rattrap and Airazor to bring in their unwelcome visitors.

Megatron observes the data flow resuming, just as the altered moon opens fire on the planet with a broad, blinding power ray. Primal charges the Maximal base's shields as the external temperature begins climbing and deduces that the aliens intend to ignite the energon deposits. Megatron notes that this will obliterate the entire planet, an incredibly ruthless strategy that he rather admires. He assures his panicked troops that Tarantulas will save them, albeit inadvertently.

Blackarachnia finishes the pod ship, only to be discovered and held at gunpoint by Rattrap and Airazor. With Rhinox still out of commission, Primal is beginning to despair, when Rattrap summons him to the stasis hold. Primal is impressed by the ship and immediately orders Blackarachnia to change the command codes to respond to him. He intends to fly the ship up to the Planet Buster and detonate the transwarp cell to destroy it. With little alternative, Blackarachnia complies.

Soon all is ready, and Primal has poignant parting words with his worried crew before sealing the ship and launching it. Megatron scans the launch and notes with delight that Primal is flying the vessel. Primal soon reaches the Planet Buster, starts the ignition sequence, and gives the order to blow the hatch seals. But the hatch is sealed and locked! Megatron appears on his comm screen to gloat that he'd come up with the exact same plan—only in his version of events, the ship's pilot goes "up with the ship." As the timer counts down to zero, the Maximals frantically wait for Primal to make his escape. Primal pounds on the sealed hatch, to no avail. As the Maximals wonder what is going on, Blackarachnia tells them it's too late...in Tarantulas's voice.

Notes
Technical/animation glitches
* When Blackarachnia grabs Inferno's gun, she clips into Inferno for a spit second.
* During Airazor and Rattrap's search for Blackarachnia, Airazor's gun floats in her hand when they jump into a hallway, and then gets "stuck" in her armpit as they walk towards the camera. Meawhile, her hands are posed grasping at nothing.
* As Optimus Primal lies back into the stasis pod, his shoulder pads are much smaller than they usually are. This was done to avoid clipping with the sides of the cramped stasis post model.
* When Megatron gloats to Optimus at the end of the episode, his hands seem to be switched, with his right arm ending in a normal hand instead of his beast-mode head. (It's easiest to see when Megatron is laughing triumphantly at the end of his speech.)

Continuity errors
* How exactly did anything organic survive the heating of the entire planet?
* When Blackarachia and Tarantulas attacked Dinobot in the previous episode, they caused him to fall through the glass of the elevator on the right hand side of the Axalons command center (from Dinobot's perspective). In this episode, the smashed elevator glass has been switched to the other elevator on the other side of the room.
* The piece of cyber-webbing Airazor steps on when she exits the elevator was not present during the close up of Rattrap as he complained about the missing Rhinox and Dinobot.

Transformers references
*Megatron's line, "You Optimuses do enjoy sacrificing yourselves", is a reference to the original Optimus Prime and his numerous deaths.
*When Tigatron volunteers to pilot the stasis pod ship, he says, "I owe this world." This refers to his grief over what happened in "Law of the Jungle". It may also refer to his decision to destroy the Vok's self-propelled-completely-peaceful-heavily-armed-floating-island-paradise-of-death in "The Trigger, Part 2".

Miscellaneous trivia
* At the script stage, this episode had the subtitle "Termination Day".
* When Tarantulas angrily dismisses Blackarachnia while attempting to work on the stasis pod, he is voiced by Scott McNeil (doing an impression of Alec Willows's Tarantulas) for two lines.
* A planned but never-produced Generation 1 cameo was planned for "Other Voices" Part 2. The intent was for Megatron to gloat to Primal while the latter was trapped in the stasis pod—by projecting an image of the Autobot leader, Optimus Prime, on Primal's viewscreen as Primal raced for the false moon and met his demise.
*When you see the little parts of Primal flying towards the camera near the end of the episode, you can see Optimus's head fly at the screen very quickly with a distressed look on his face.
* In Madman Entertainment's Beast Wars Season 1 DVD set, on a commentary track for this episode with fan consultant Ben Yee and story editor Larry DiTillio, fellow story editor Bob Forward popped in to explain the significance of the slang term "slag". He explained that he looked up on refineries as he figured that robots would be made of steel, and one of the waste byproducts of creating steel was an unusable detritus called slag, which he thought would be an appropriate swear word for robots to use.
* Why couldn't Optimus just blast his way out instead of pounding the hatch? Firing his weapons might have damaged himself, but at that point it was better than the alternative.
* If one listens closely, just as the pod is entering the false moon, you can actually hear the sound of Optimus' arm-cannon firing, and glass shattering. It appears that he attempted to do just that, but too late to actually escape.

The transwarp cell explodes, and high above the planet, the Planet Buster is annihilated...along with the pod ship and Optimus Primal.

In the middle of Scorponok's coronation as the new Decepticon emperor, the Autobots attack and an old enemy makes a surprising return!

Synopsis
In the aftermath of the destruction of Mars, Arcee, Spike and Broadside survey the field of rubble that remains, attempting to discern what effects the loss of the planet has had on the solar system. They report back to Athenia that the damage done is just within safety limits, and Fortress and the Headmasters become determined to keep track on the Decepticons' movements before any further planets can fall victim to them. As they talk, outside, Wheelie and Daniel argue, with Wheelie's fears for Autobot safety being shouted down by Daniel insisting that Fortress is stronger than Scorponok. Daniel pushes Wheelie in a lake, but their argument is immediately forgotten when a mysterious, iridescent globe of light swoops down out of the sky, spraying water everywhere as it flies low over the lake, and then vanishes into the sky.

The Headmasters have since departed to monitor the Decepticons' movements, and Fortress soon receives a report of Daniel and Wheelie's mysterious UFO sighting. Such things are not the concern of Chromedome and Hardhead, however, who refuse to partake of such passive action against the Decepticons - in an attempt to be proactive, they sneak out of Battleship Maximus and head to attack Chaar on their own. Although they are able to sneak past the lone sentry patrolling the planet's perimeter, Blitzwing, they are unaware of the fact that Scorponok has been made aware of the Headmasters' movements by his intelligence officer, Counterpunch, and has allowed the two Autobots to get as close as they have. Scorponok transforms to scorpion mode and carries the Decepticon Headmasters into space, where they defeat Chromedome and Hardhead, and send them hurtling back, to collide with the approaching Battleship Maximus. The two warships collide, and Scorponok transforms to robot mode and thrashes Maximus, when suddenly, the strange glowing UFO appears over their heads. Using the distraction, the Autobots are able to escape, and the Decepticons puzzle over what the mysterious object is as it disappears into the depths of space.

Back down on Chaar, Soundblaster receives an unhappy report from Ravage and Laserbeak on how Counterpunch has shown them up by finding out information that they couldn't. Soundblaster takes his team to Earth in the hopes of digging up some new information to improve his standing, but a search meets with nothing but failure - a fact that Sixshot is not afraid of pointing out. As the two stand outside the Decepticons' Earth base, the UFO appears in the sky and floats down. Soundblaster dives behind a rock for cover when the UFO bathes Sixshot in bright light, and a second later, as the amazed communications officer emerges, both Sixshot and the UFO have vanished.

As the Headmasters return to Athenia, Daniel is trying out a trick he saw in a movie, using a musical keyboard to play a tune in hopes of contacting the UFO. The Headmasters crowd around, with Fortress wondering if the alien is friend or foe, but time passes, and nothing happens. A little later, Fortress is led by Twincast to meet the Autobots' new informant - it is Counterpunch, who steps from the shadows with his gun drawn! He's just fooling around, however, and reveals his true identity - Counterpunch is really Punch, an Autobot double-agent within the Decepticon camp. Punch explains to Fortress that the Decepticons are active on Earth's moon, where they are planning to hold a ceremony for Scorponok's coronation as the new Decepticon emperor.

In the Sea of Tranquility on the Moon, Cyclonus introduces Scorponok to the assembled Decepticons, and Scorponok proclaims himself the new Decepticon emperor. No sooner are these words spoken, however, than Battleship Maximus and the Trainbots appear overhead, deploying the Headmasters, Aerialbots, Protectobots and Technobots for battle. Scorponok again transforms into his giant robot mode and attacks Battleship Maximus, and once again, the UFO suddenly appears, just as Soundblaster arrives to try and inform Scorponok of what he has learned. The Autobots are all cut down by energy beams emanated from the UFO, and Sixshot steps out of the light, much to all the Decepticons' surprise. Then, the light dims, and its source is revealed - the UFO is a spacecraft, which projects a beam of purple light down to the lunar surface. From this beam, a familiar figure strides - Galvatron lives! Both Autobot and Decepticon react with total shock, but the reappearance of their leader gives the villains their second wind, and the Autobots are forced to retreat. Quietly incensed that his leadership is clearly over before it has even truly begun, Scorponok demands to know where Galvatron has been; Galvatron claims to have been observing, interested in seeing how the Decepticons function without him. He commends Scorponok for the strides he has made for the Decepticons' cause in his absence, but quickly makes it clear that he is now back in charge.

As the Autobots observe the ceremony from back on Athenia, Daniel, now realizing what the UFO was, smashes his keyboard and runs from the room, more angry at himself than anything. Wheelie catches up to him and soothes his temper, but the spectre of Galvatron's renewed evil hovers over the Autobots...
Notes
Animation or technical errors
*In the group shot of Decepticons at Scorponok's coronation, Skullcruncher is colored yellow instead of green.
*As the Trainbots arrive on the moon, Soundblaster is again colored like Soundwave.
*When Computron combines, he is colored as Superion.

Transformers references
*It's taken a while for the other cassettes to catch up to Ratbat, who first spoke in robot mode in "The Great Cassette Operation", but beginning with this episode, Ravage and Laserbeak are heard to clearly speak in their animal forms.
*This episode continues the running joke of Chromedome having something of a crush on Arcee, which we first got a hint of when the Statue of Liberty's look was compared to Arcee's in "Terror! The Six Shadows". The big lug got up the courage to ask her for a dance in "The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok", and here, he's just happy to get the chance to drive alongside her, as well as to, ahem, watch her transform. Kinky?
*Galvatron met his apparent end in "Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 2". How he survived an explosion capable of destroying a planet and where he acquired the ship he has in this episode are never explained.
*Scorponok professed to know where Galvatron was, and to have been appointed leader in his absence, in "The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok". It was clear to the audience that he was lying from the outset, but although this episode makes his deception publicly obvious, he doesn't actually suffer any repercussions for it. Well, Galvatron basically turns him into a bus for the next eight episodes, so maybe that counts.

Real-wold references
*The movie that Daniel picked up the musical communication trick from is, of course, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
In the middle of Scorponok's coronation as the new Decepticon emperor, the Autobots attack and an old enemy makes a surprising return!

:English/Malay dub name: "The Indestructible King Galvatron"

After learning of the origins of the Headmasters and the planet Master, the Autobots race to recover the missing Matrix.

Synopsis
As the battle between the newly-arrived Autobot Headmasters and their Decepticon counterparts rages around him, Optimus Prime ventures into the depths of Cybertron, heading for Vector Sigma in order to stabilize and restore an Autobot power balance on the planet. Fortress subsequently dispatches the Decepticons within the power of his battleship, Maximus, and Kup realises that he and the other Autobot Headmasters are refugees who fled the planet millions of years beforehand. Fortress relates the story of the civilisation they have established on the planet Master, and how several of their number rebelled under the leadership of a shadowy figure named Scorponok and were banished from Master, only to join up with the Decepticons.

Meanwhile, Optimus Prime is aided in his mission by the ghostly figure of Alpha Trion, but without the Matrix, which has been left on Earth to recharge, there is little he can do to stabilize the fluctuating computer. Realizing the importance of the Matrix in Prime's task, the Autobots divide into teams in order to track down the secret location where the Matrix has been hidden and bring it to Cybertron. However, Soundwave and his cassettes catch wind of their plan, and various Decepticon squads intercept the Autobot forces searching for the Matrix. The Stunticons battle the Aerialbots in the desert, but their conflict eventually moves to the Arctic, and they wind up in the midst of Hot Rod, Blaster and the Autobot cassettes' clash with the Predacons. Soundwave and his cassettes arrive to pick off Hot Rod, but Blaster and his team leap to the rescue, culminating in a one-on-one battle between the two communicators that ends with their mutual destruction. Soundwave's exploded remains are recovered by his cassettes, while Blaster dies in Hot Rod's arms, and the young Autobot vows to complete his mission.
The following quotes are from the English dub.
Hot Rod: Billy, are you all right?<br>
Blaster: Not really. Find the power pack. Rescue Optimus Prime. Go...<br>
[Blaster turns gray]<br>
Hot Rod: Billy, I swear. I'll get those dirty scum for you.<br>
:—The <s>epic</s> lackluster death of <s>Billy</s> Blaster.
Notes
Animation or technical errors
*As the tale of the Headmasters-to-be is recounted, Fortress is shown leading civilians onto spaceships, looking as he does now. This, of course, is wrong—he should appear as his smallest Headmaster component (Spike, in the English cartoon), as he's not a Headmaster yet.

Transformers references
*This episode revisits the concept of Transformers becoming drained of colour whenever they die, as seen in The Transformers: The Movie. In this case, however, when Soundwave and Blaster meet their ends, they turn white, rather than various shades of grey.
*The Centurion droids from "The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1" reappear, once again guarding the path to the mega-computer.
*Although Scorponok will not appear for five more episodes, a silhouette of him appears in this episode. Notably, the silhouette is of his Transtector, which will not be unveiled fully until "Explosion on Mars!! MegaZarak Appears".

Trivia
*Steeljaw has abruptly developed the power of speech with this episode. Although his fellow animal cassette, Ramhorn, previously talked in "Forever Is a Long Time Coming", Steeljaw never indicated he had the gift of gab until now.
*Raiden actually first appears in this episode, although it's nothing more than an extremely short cameo. And he's forced to run off thanks to Bruticus.
*People who haven't seen it think the fight between Blaster and Soundwave is awesome. It's really not.
*Darn that Soundwave. EEEEUUUAAAAAAGH!
