A shambling, slavering Frankenstein monster of Megatron's creation, Dinobot is an attempt to recreate the Maximal Dinobot without all that cumbersome honor. Powerful, vicious, and most importantly, loyal, Dinobot is a living weapon to be aimed and released in the Maximals' direction.

Created by combining a protoform, cloned cells from the original Dinobot, a part of Rampage's spark, and the energy from the Transmetal driver, Dinobot II became a fierce warrior for Megatron. Gifted with powerful abilities (instant healing and most of Dinobot's warrior skills), Dinobot was used for hunting Maximals like Depth Charge and Blackarachnia. Proving Grounds Because he had a piece of Rampage's spark, a fact that sometimes confused Depth Charge's sensors, Dinobot was able to squeeze it and keep the powerful Transmetal in line. Feral Scream Part 1

Shortly after his creation, Dinobot II was sent with Waspinator to capture Cheetor, who had become a Transmetal 2. During the debriefing, Waspinator questioned if being a Transmetal 2 was an improvement, something that brought Dinobot's wrath in the form of a growl, causing the other Predacon to cower behind Megatron in fear. During the hunt, Waspinator detected Cheetor's scent, but due to an unfortunate choice of words on Waspinator's part about Transmetals, Dinobot growled at him again, again raising fear in the older Predacon. Dinobot exclaimed that he would locate and defeat Cheetor. When Waspinator brought up the need of a plan, Dinobot asserted himself as the plan, and then proceeded to slice Waspinator apart. Dinobot searched the cave only to find that the Maximal had already made his escape. Angered, Dinobot declared that the target had fled... for now. Later, Dinobot found Cheetor again and nearly killed hom with a blast from his eye from the shadows, only for Optimus Primal to take the blow for his comrade, taking heavy damage. Waspinator caught up with them only to be instantly slagged by Cheetor, who had transformed into his new robot mode. Dinobot entered the fight and after Cheetor snapped that he had injured his friend, Dinobot told him yes and now he would neutralize him. After hitting a downed Primal, Cheetor roared in anger to an unimpressed Dinobot. After a short but vicious fight, Cheetor received reinforcement in the forms of Rattrap and Silverbolt. Before retreating, Dinobot II declared that this wasn't over. Feral Scream Part 2

Proving Grounds

Go with the Flow

Dinobot was present while the Predacons successfully invaded the Ark, taking all the Maximals prisoner. Megatron ordered Dinobot to hunt down and destroy Depth Charge, an order that Dinobot accepted with sadistic glee. Although the battle was unseen, Dinobot apparently failed. Master Blaster

During the trial of Quickstrike, Dinobot II served on the jury along with Rampage. After Waspinator's "defense", Megatron asked the jury for their verdict. Rampage and Dinobot quickly declared the fuzor guilty by holding him up and pointing their guns at him. The execution was interrupted by the arrival of Tigerhawk who destroyed the remains of the Darksyde, forcing the Predacons to abandon base. Dinobot and Rampage were quickly blasted into the distant by a single missile from the Vok messenger, preventing either from actually participating in the fight. Other Victories

His most important moments came at the very end of the Beast Wars. After Rampage was destroyed by Depth Charge, something happened to Dinobot. Somehow, the memories of the original Dinobot flooded into his frame, and more importantly, Dinobot's code of honor came along with them. Nemesis Part 1 Unable to shake off these memories and what they signified, Dinobot betrayed Megatron, challenging his leader's desire to destroy the protohuman village. More importantly, he sent information about an Autobot shuttle to the Maximals aboard the Ark.

Dinobot's final rebellion was openly refusing to fire on the Maximal base. When a flabbergasted Megatron asked him what possible reason he could have for rebelling against his creator, Dinobot took a moment before turning to look at the injured form of Optimus Primal and announcing "And I...have my honor." Enraged, Megatron attacked him, throwing him into Primal just as Rhinox piloted the Autobot shuttle straight into Megatron. As Optimus made to escape, he tried to get Dinobot to follow, but the Transmetal merely wished Primal well as the cockpit exploded around him. Thus he died as a hero, like his predecessor. Optimus would later quote a passage from the Covenant of Primus: "In spark of an enemy, there will be salvation, and in the darkest hour, there will be a light." Nemesis Part 2

Dreamwave Summer Special
Dinobot attacked Rattrap, tearing him out of the crawler vehicle he was testing. Rattrap's attempts to reason with the remnants of his old friend failed, and the twisted clone prepared to toss him off a cliff. But before he could finish off the Maximal, Bonecrusher rammed him, sending both the clone and the crawler tumbling off the cliff. Ain't No Rat
Megatron's first attempt at creating Dinobot yielded a Transmetal (as opposed to a Transmetal 2). ==Synopsis==

The Maximals detect an energon crystal under the cairn in the Standing Stones. Rattrap thinks it reeks of 'bait' and Rhinox notes that the energon on this planet isn't natural, as it does not conform to the planet's geology. The Predacons attack, putting an end to the discussion. During the battle, Terrorsaur purposely fires directly on the buried energon crystal, causing it to destabilize. His prize now useless, Megatron orders a retreat while the Maximals head for cover as it builds to overload. But instead of a debilitating energon wave, it sends a signal to the stars, depleting the crystal's energy. With the Predacons gone and the energon reduced to dust, the bewildered Maximals return to base.

Later, an alien probe emerges from transwarp space and enters the atmosphere. The Predacons initially mistake it for a stasis pod, but Rhinox immediately recognizes it as something else. Both sides head to intercept it at the Standing Stones. Optimus and Dinobot confront Megatron and Waspinator, but when they transform and begin to battle, the Probe puts out an energy burst that renders them unconscious and causes Primal to vanish into thin air.

A disoriented Dinobot awakens in the Axalons CR Chamber and, seeing three pissed-off Maximals standing over him, momentarily mistakes it for a Maximal Torture Chamber. The Probe, as it turned out, somehow dumped Dinobot, Megatron and Waspinator outside of their respective bases. Believing Primal to be destroyed, Dinobot attempts to take command of the Maximals. Rhinox heads off a fight between Dinobot and Rattrap by insisting on a secret ballot, the traditional Maximal method for resolving such problems.

After the vote results in stalemate, with two votes for each contender, Dinobot giddily rebukes the shortcomings of their peaceful solution. He declares that he will break the tie by force and prepares to attack Rattrap. Before the fight can begin, they are contacted by Optimus Primal, who is not dead. Primal's body has been digitally stored, but his consciousness remains active within the Probe. Optimus puts Rattrap in charge. Dinobot glares at him.

Megatron, also believing Primal dead, sends Scorponok and Waspinator to the Standing Stones while the other Predacons attack the Axalon. Dinobot fights Megatron one-on-one, ignoring Rattrap's order to disengage and reset the Axalon's failing shield circuitry. Rattrap scrambles and is able to restore the shields at the last moment. The Predacons retreat when Dinobot beats Megatron back, and Dinobot apologizes to Rattrap for not following his orders, affirming himself "dishonored". Dinobot's uncharacteristic deference and respect makes Rattrap uncomfortable, and he brushes it off.

The Maximals head to the Standing Stones with a device Rhinox has built to attempt to extract Optimus from the Probe. The Predacons attack them at the Stones, Rhinox unloading his frustrations on Waspinator when his device malfunctions, blasting him to bits with his chaingun. Waspinator shorts out and comes in contact with one of the stones which activates, revealing the entire Standing Stones site is a single device. The Probe opens in response, and Primal materializes. The Predacons retreat before his considerable firepower, but the Probe dematerializes before the Maximals can decide what to do with it.

Optimus commends Rattrap on his performance as commander, though Rattrap is more than happy to hand the title back. The Maximals are left wondering what the Probe's purpose was, and Rhinox ominously observes the aliens have learned they have the ability to reason... and of their destructive capabilities.

Notes
* The initial fight by the Standing Stones features shadow, a rare luxury in early Beast Wars episodes.
* Optimus Primal is reading late at night below the Axalon when the Probe comes down, a rare quiet character moment.
* The Maximals are not entirely convinced Dinobot didn't off Primal himself for the job, as he attempted to 3 episodes prior.
* During the battle at the Maximal base, Megatron tries to gain the upper hand by ramming his face into Dinobot's airborne foot. Megatron clearly fails at this attempt and takes note to dodge easily evadable flying kicks in the future.
* Scorponok exhibits his "babbling" personality this episode as, apparently, being left alone with the scheming Terrorsaur and Tarantulas while Megatron is undergoing major repairs makes him extremely nervous. Given Tarantulas's dietary habits, that might be understandable...
* This episode features the debut of Rhinox's "Chaingun of Doom" (occasionally called the "Chaingun of Command" after this episode). And possibly the start of the trend of Waspinator getting utterly butchered in almost every episode.
* It is fairly certain that Rhinox is the one who voted for Rattrap and Cheetor is the one who voted for Dinobot. Rhinox was clearly unpleasantly surprised by the second vote for Dinobot, and when Optimus tells them that Rattrap is in charge, Cheetor is seen visibly annoyed in the background while Rhinox pats him happily on the back.

Technical/animation glitches
* If that's a solar eclipse in the opening shot, how come there's light coming from below the horizon?
* During the initial fight, as Waspinator and Terrorsaur swoop up towards Optimus, Terrorsaur's upper body distorts for a fraction of a second before the shot changes.
* Towards the end of the episode, Scorponok remembers that he's a Predacon and adjusts the symbol on his chest accordingly. Finally.
* When Dinobot executes his flying kick, his foot actually passes through Megatron's head.

Transformers references
* The episode opens with the second moon eclipsing the sun. The moon's unnatural nature will again be mentioned in "The Trigger, Part 1", and it plays a critical role in the season finale.
* The ongoing Vok storyline put in its first appearance since "Beast Wars (Part 2)", it will feature again in "The Trigger, Part 1". The Vok will not be named until the series is almost over.

Real-world references
* Rattrap makes a mention to "B movies," a uniquely human concept.
* Speaking of B movies, and movies in general, when Terrosaur blows up the mound of rocks, the explosion makes Rhinox go flying. The shot is him flying through the air slow-motion whilst screaming, similar to what movies do. Hmmmm.
* The "Standing Stones" resemble many European stone circles, of which Stonehenge is the most famous. Most evidence points to Beast Wars not being set in Europe, however.

Synopsis
As Optimus lies defeated, Megatron stands gloating over his nemesis. To add insult to injury, Megatron has taken a new body... Primal's Optimal body, minus the beast mode. And, to make it just right, Megatron then adds the sparks of the Maximals to the spark containment chamber. Enraged, Optimus fights back, but Megatron punches him through the wall to the outside of the big floating head. Optimus manages to get in a few more shots, but stops sees the sparkless bodies of Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. Megatron takes a moment to rub it in, then attacks.

Primal flees through the city scape, flying a merry little chase, until he reaches a power generator storage area. As Megatron temporarily loses track of his prey, Optimus comes up from behind and destroys several generators. Optimus barely manages to escape the inferno, as Megatron's left arm is thrown out of the flames. After Primal makes a bad pun, Megatron emerges. As Primal jumps into a nearby river, he dives, only to have Megatron follow him in and shot a hole in the ground, causing them to sink into a whirlpool.

As Optimus wakes up, he realizes he is in the chamber of the Oracle. However, the technorganic orchard has been completely destroyed. Worse for Primal, he sees Rattrap and Botanica's sparkless bodies, lying on the ground, with their hands streched toward each other. Megatron then arrives, and takes him to the surface.

Heading toward the Council Citadel, Megatron activates a throne built into the Citadel to appear, then opens the spark chamber, absorbing the sparks and preparing to ascend to supplant the Matrix and achieve Godhood. As the sparks enter his body, Megatron grows in size. Primal tries to talk, saying that each spark is but a part of the Matrix and that together, they add to its totality. Megatron then activates the Key to Vector Sigma, to be used against the organic core. However, Megatron cannot fully activate the Oracle, as he and Primal are linked. Megatron then severs the link, and Primal fears that he has failed.

However, the sparks of his comrades speak to him, inspiring him on. Shooting a beam at Megatron's throne, vines extend and grab Megatron's arms. Primal then tries to push him into the core. However, Megatron grabs hold of Optimus, who merely shoots off Megatron's fingers to sever the vine, allowing them both to fall into the core. As they plummet, Primal bids Megatron farewell. Upon impact with the core, both Optimus and Megatron die in a flash of light. From space, a bright light rises, then begins to cover the surface of Cybertron.

Waking up, the Maximals find themselves on a technorganic world, which they realize is Cybertron. Rattrap is somewhat worried, then Botanica appears, and he jumps into her arms. As Silverbolt sweeps Blackarachnia off her feet, Waspinator appears as a tiny, technorganic wasp, pissed that he's been screwed over again. Then, the Oracle shows Cheetor a vision of Optimus Primal's spark, flying away, telling him to "transform, and transcend". As it fades, Cheetor mutters that he understands. In the distance, the freed Transformers, their sparks once again in bodies, run over the horizon, ready to assume control of the newly technorganic Cybertron.

"The menace has passed. Now we can truly be together, dark venom of my heart."<br />
"Oh, of all the corny..."
"Waspinator want glory, Waspinator want power! And what does Waspinator get?! (Waspinator gets swatted away by Rattrap) Waspinator never gets what Waspinator wants!
:—Poor old Waspinator, who now is the size of a regular wasp and has Thrust's head.

"At long last. Transform your destiny. Transform and... transcend."<br />
"I... understand."
:—The Oracle and Cheetor

Notes
Technical/animation glitches
* The freed Transformers that appear at the end of the episode have pretty weird running animations. They are running forward, but their legs are moving as if they're running sideways.

Continuity errors
* When Megatron blasts Optimus out of the Spark Chamber room, the deactivated body of Thrust is seen right next to those of Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. The problem with this is that Silverbolt and Blackarachnia were deactivated outside of the base, whereas Thrust was deactivated by Cheetor inside the anti-gravity engine room in the previous episode. Though that doesn't necessarily preclude the possibility that Megatron's drones moved the empty shells.

Transformers references
*While in his vehicle modes, Megatron stores his spark in his cockpit. This is the same place that Primal stored the original Optimus Prime's spark during Optimal Situation.
*Megatron uses all of Optimal Optimus's modes (minus his removed beast mode) during this episode, arguably with greater efficiency than Primal did.
*When calling the sparks to him, Megatron says "let us all become one!"

Other notes
* "Transform and transcend"? Was that a hint at the transcendent technomorph idea that would have followed had it not been cancelled?
*The Oracle makes contact with Cheetor towards the end of the episode. This is later played on in the comics, where later stories would establish Cheetor as a Matrix Templar alongside Rodimus and Snarl.
In Sari's room at Sumdac Tower, Sari bitterly packs her things while grumbling about Porter C. Powell taking over her home and throwing her to the curb. She doesn't notice Powell enter as she badmouths him, but rather than get upset, the man smugly proves many of her points right and adds insult to injury by introducing her bedroom's new tenant, the freshly re-hired Henry Masterson. Sentinel is his usual charming self, boasting the significance of the Elite Guard's presence, condescending to the icky organics, showing complete ignorance of the planet's customs, and insulting his comrade's lowly position at every opportunity. Optimus tries his best to ignore all this and put the humans' minds at ease about the current situation, but finds it difficult to get a word in edgewise as Sentinel cuts him off, determined to do all the talking, refusing to let Optimus speak for him.

Powell and Masterson watch the press conference with intent. Powell says he expects great things from Masterson, intending to tap the lucrative military hardware market that Sumdac so foolishly ignored. Masterson is itching to get to work, but wants new robots on which to test his Headmaster units. The old Autobot crew won't cut it, however; he wants the new models, and he eagerly eyes Sentinel Prime's image on the screen.

Masterson calls up Fanzone with a false Decepticon sighting in Old Detroit. Fanzone relays the information to the Primes, and the heroes transform and roll out. Sentinel still hasn't gotten the hang of the city's traffic customs, however, and spends more time driving over other cars than on the road.

Meanwhile, Sari is moving in with the Autobots at the old factory. Bulkhead and Bumblebee are eager to cheer up the sullen girl with loud TV, music, and a misguided tutoring session in which they end up throwing around theories about her mysterious origins. Predictably, everything they try only seems to make her more miserable.

Sentinel soon arrives at the scene of the supposed Decepticon sighting, prying a stop sign from his shoulder, and is quickly joined by Optimus and the police. Optimus starts making suggestions, but Sentinel shuts him up, opting to split up and search on his own, as he doesn't need help from a scrub.

The search drags on into the night, and Sentinel is jumping at shadows, turning the advanced weaponry of the Cybertron Elite Guard on such dire threats as stray cats. This distracts him, and Masterson gets the jump on him with the Headmaster unit. Shortly afterwards, Sentinel contacts Optimus, telling him it was a false alarm and to send the police away. He then demands Optimus come to his position alone and promise not to laugh. Soon after, Optimus finds Sentinel's decapitated head and breaks out in laughter. Bitter and humiliated, Sentinel pleads with Optimus to help him get his body back without Ultra Magnus finding out. Optimus guesses that the reason Sentinel is trusting him with the task is that he's just not important enough for his opinion to matter, but Sentinel is careful not to say something so insulting in his position. How about that.

Optimus learns of Masterson's re-hiring thanks to a conveniently timed message from Bumblebee, reporting what he's heard from Sari. The next day, Optimus pays a visit to Sumdac Tower, hiding Sentinel's head under a tree trunk while he chats with Powell. The new manager makes it clear that the Autobots aren't free to waltz into his building as they please any more, but assures their leader that Masterson isn't there. However as soon as Optimus leaves, he phones the Headmaster with information on the new development, warning his employee not to jeopardize the company's image. Lucky for the Primes, Optimus thought ahead enough to intercept the phone call with his ear transceiver as soon as he was out of sight. He traces the call to a cargo ship at the docks.

It's night again when the 1.5 Primes arrive at the docks and start searching for Sentinel's body. They don't get far before a nearby crate bursts open, revealing a sinister Sparkplug and Tutor Bot outfitted with miniature Headmaster Units. Sentinel isn't too worried by the puny automatons until they reveal some powerful laser-shooting upgrades. They send Optimus scrambling for cover while Sentinel's head bounces around impotently on the ground. When the ship Masterson is supposedly on starts casting off, they can't play around any longer, and Optimus rushes through the laser fire, ramps off the deck, transforms in mid-air and rides a powerful burst from his rocket axe to hook into the side of the ship's hull. Awesome. His grappling hooks probably would have worked equally well, but dude, flying rocket axe!

On the ship, Optimus and Sentinel try to find Sentinel's body...until it finds them. The Headmaster pushes Optimus down with Sentinel's shield. Sentinel is surprised that it's so powerful, to which Masterson gloats he upgraded his equipment. Pulling out Sentinel's beam lance and expanding the shield into a spikier version, the Headmaster clashes with Optimus while Sentinel bounces around impotently on the ground some more.

Masterson manages to knock Optimus's axe off the ship, leaving him unarmed. After being pinned to the ground with shield spikes inches from his face, Optimus returns the favor by ripping off Sentinel's arm, shield and all. Sentinel is mortified by the dismemberment, but Optimus feels it was justified. He then uses Sentinel's arm as a makeshift axe and fights back the body, eventually severing the Headmaster unit. The head quickly converts to robot mode and starts to run off, but this time Optimus stops him by kicking Sentinel's head into the fleeing villain like a soccer ball. Again, Sentinel is appalled. Optimus has less of an excuse this time.

Back on land, Fanzone has Masterson in cuffs, and it looks like a happy ending until Powell shows up, pointing out that the ship was Sumdac Systems property, the assaulted robots don't have rights protected by the law, and the whole incident occurred over international waters between the United States and Canada. Masterson is free to go, much to the chagrin of everybody else.

Meanwhile, at the factory, Bumblebee and Bulkhead are about to try another zany scheme to cheer up Sari, but Prowl stops them and tells them just to listen to her instead. When they try this last resort, Sari opens up about all her worries regarding her missing father, her lost home and company, and her questioned existence. Bumblebee and Bulkhead aren't sure what to do, but they assure her they are there for her.

Finally, aboard the Elite Guard's ship the next day, Sentinel and Optimus report to Ultra Magnus, who has heard something about Sentinel "losing his head". Sentinel trembles uncomfortably in silence, but Optimus reports that they worked together to solve the crisis, effectively covering for his comrade, who really doesn't deserve it. Ultra Magnus congratulates both of them and takes his leave to contact Cybertron Command on an issue of great importance. As the Primes walk down the hallway, Sentinel struggles out a "thank you" to his compatriot. Optimus notes that it must have hurt to say that, and Sentinel acknowledges the fact and reaches out his hand.
"Whoa, hey! Check it! Major cribbage! And it's mine. It's all mine!"
:—Masterson, who is surprisingly okay with the fact that his new "facilities" are frilly, lacy, and painted pink.
"This is why I hate machines...especially arrogant, full-of-themselves machines!"

Optimus: Sentinel, we should scramble our comlink frequencies in case the Decepticons are listening in!<br />
Sentinel: What you should do is stick within the scope of your programming. If I need a trash can emptied or a floor mopped, I'll call on my buddy Optimus Prime. Or should I say...Maintenance Prime? Hahahaha!<br />
:—Optimus Prime and Sentinel Prime match wits. Somehow, Optimus loses.

Sentinel: Uhhh, Optimus. Tell the organic Fanzone that he can send his police force home. It's a false alarm. <br />
Optimus: How do you know?<br />
Optimus: What?<br />
Sentinel: That you won't laugh!<br />
[Optimus looks around the rubble for Sentinel]<br />
Optimus: Sentinel? Where are you?<br />
Sentinel: [quietly] Look down...<br />
Bumblebee: So, class, today's lesson is regarding...um...well, stuff, and how it works. Any questions?<br />
Sari: Yeah. Why is there no record of my existence?<br />
Bumblebee: Okay...a little bit outside the lesson plan. Professor Bulkhead, your thoughts?<br />
Bulkhead: Maybe she came here from another planet in some kinda egg and crashed on Sumdac's doorstep.<br />
Bumblebee: Or a portal could have opened and she fell through from another dimension.<br />

"Yes! I am so late!"<br />

Notes
* This episode was first broadcast in Canada on April 19, one week before its United States premiere.

Continuity errors
* When Optimus stops Masterson's escape, he asserts the villain is going "back to prison", although the Headmaster has yet to serve time at all.

Real-world references
* Bumblebee mentions Sari could have come from a cabbage patch, a reference to the popular explanation of where babies come from - or to the Cabbage Patch Kids said explanation inspired.
* Powell makes a passing reference to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, also known as "the Mounties".
* Bulkhead's "came here from another planet in some kind of egg" comment could be a reference to 1970s sitcom Mork and Mindy, or also a reference to the Superman: origin story.
* The appearance of Detroit's real-life Wayne County Building and the Renaissance Center in this episode gives a firm location for Sumdac Tower -- it's on one of two blocks of Randolph Street, currently occupied by a parking garage and a surface parking lot.

Trivia
* Powell claims Optimus and Sentinel's clash with Masterson took place in "international waters". While the nation in which the incident occurred may be in question, there are no international waters in Lake St. Clair or Lake Erie, just American and Canadian waters. (But then, this is the future.) The "Mounties" remark is still relevant.

* Apparently, calling the police to report fabricated events (about Decepticons) doesn't constitute a crime in Detroit. Either that, or Fanzone didn't put two and two together as to Masterson being the caller of the faux incident.

* When Sentinel asks for Optimus to cover for him, Optimus mentions how Sentinel "covered for him" all those years ago, presumably after the Elita-1 incident. Maybe this is the reason that Optimus washed out of the Autobot Academy? Answer: Yes. It is.

* Either the events of this episode span at least two days and two nights, or the sun goes down roughly every couple of hours.

* Given they presumably had very little time to prepare, the Autobots have whipped up a surprisingly comfortable room for Sari in their factory, doubly surprising given the lack of proper materials to hand. Who wouldn't want to sleep in a bed made from a giant radial tire!?

* On the other hand, their idea of proper human cuisine needs some work, since the meal they provide for Sari consists of a bunch of acorns, a fish skeleton (with flies buzzing around it), a live rabbit, and some miniature barrels of oil.

* This is the only episode of Season Two where the Decepticons don't appear.

* How did Powell clear the Headmaster for his attempt to destroy Michigan in his previous appearance?

The Decepticons are one of the primary factions in the Transformers mythos. They are typically concerned with such things as galactic conquest, defeating the Autobots, amassing large quantities of energon, developing powerful weaponry, and beating people up. Not necessarily in that order.

Unlike the Autobots, whose leader is a Prime bearing a Matrix, the Decepticons are led by the most powerful of their ranks. This tends to cause some conflict, given how generally every Decepticon thinks that they're the most powerful. Also, the Decepticons are not exactly the most compassionate beings in the universe, but not all fight for greed. More than a few have a sense of honor, while others believe that Cybertron would be better protected by aggressive expansion. Ultimately, the Decepticons desire to protect their homeworld, even if it is at the expense of others. Usually.

The Decepticons emerged from the gladiatorial State Games, which caused Megatron's rise to public prominence - in the aftermath of the destructive Vos-Tarn War, Megatron was able to use his fame and charisma to unite both the survivors and the planet's malcontents into a new army. His plan was to turn Cybertron into a mobile cosmic dreadnought and conquer the galaxy. The Decepticons developed new technology to allow them to transform into attack vehicles and weaponry, launching a devastating attack that killed billions and shook the planet from its orbit before Optimus Prime turned the tide.

Megatron, Shockwave and others were lost on Earth for four million years; as Optimus was too, the Autobots swiftly lost ground to Decepticon leaders Trannis and Straxus. Cybertron was devastated and conquered, causing the cream of the Decepticons to leave the burnt-out planet to form a Cybertronian Empire out in the stars, while Straxus threw all those he considered weak into the Smelting pool. The Empire would go on to slaughter and Cyberform planet after planet, their actions unknown on Cybertron.

Eventually the Earth-bound Decepticons would awaken in 1984, sparking off a new front in the war. After the presumed suicide of Megatron, an escalation in fighting would see Decepticon leadership fragment and change hands rapidly, with frequent clashes, plots and counter-plots between the primary leadership, namely Starscream, Shockwave, Ratbat, and Scorponok, until most of them were killed in the Underbase conflict, leaving Scorponok the only surviving commander. A brief truce with the Autobots was held when Unicron attacked in 1991, but Scorponok was killed in the following conflict. Immediately after this, Bludgeon came to power. Charismatic and driven, Bludgeon turned the beaten Decepticons into a new army; after a defeat on Klo, they regrouped and reorganised. (In one reality, they were immediately massacred afterward.)

Earthforce
In the side-continuity of Earthforce, while Unicron continued on to Cybertron, Megatron and Shockwave continued a Decepticon civil war on Earth with a small handful of troops - wasting most of their time trying to take each other out. Eventually Soundwave and Starscream overthrew them, uniting both factions into a stronger Decepticon force. The two former leaders attempted to regain their position but never appeared to succeed.

Generation 2
Bludgeon invaded Earth with the intention of capturing the Matrix and making a new generation of Decepticons, but Megatron returned, killed Bludgeon in one-on-one combat, and stole this plan. However, the threat of the Cybertronian Empire forced an alliance between the Autobots and Decepticons again.

Classics
Cartoon
Season 1 & 2
In the various continuities descending from Generation 1, the Decepticons and the Autobots are the two great powers in the Transformer population. The factions, however, are not a complete set -- there are Transformers who are unaffiliated / neutral, or even members of smaller or splinter factions.

Many G1 timelines actually credit Megatron as the founder of the Decepticons, not merely its most recent leader. In contrast, Optimus Prime is almost always depicted as only the latest in a long line of Primes or Matrix Bearers.

Eventually, the Decepticons managed to take control of all of Cybertron, forcing the Autobots to operate on Cybertron's two moons, but Autobot City on Earth was viewed as the greater threat. The Decepticons overtook a supply shuttle and launched an attack, with disastrous consequences for the Autobots. The battle saw one of the Decepticons' long held dreams achieved in the death of Optimus Prime, but Megatron was damaged, and left to rot in deep space. Unicron reformatted him into Galvatron, and Galvatron attempted to enslave Unicron with the Matrix of Leadership. When Unicron attacked Cybertron, most of the Decepticon forces on the planet were wiped out, allowing the Autobots to retake control of the planet.

Season 3 & 4
Times would turn harsh for the Decepticons who were forced to abandon their homeworld of Cybertron and were exiled to the burnt out planet of Chaar. There they would face constant energy shortages and engage in constant inter-fighting, as well as suffer from a lack of leadership. From this chaos came Cyclonus and the Sweeps, who hatched a plan of finding Galvatron who would lead the Decepticons once more.

Eventually, the Autobots, led by a resurrected Optimus Prime, managed to finally defeat the Decepticons.

Dreamwave
The Decepticons arose out of the underground fights that Megatron once partook in. After discovering certain secrets about Cybertron's origin, including massive planetary engines, Megatron began using the games to recruit combatants. For nearly half a million years, they grew in numbers and trained, until they rebelled against the Council of Ancients and took Kaon by force.

While the war raged on, the Constructicons repaired the engines and introduced a mecha-forming process, but what they really needed was a power source. Megatron became convinced that he could find one powerful enough within the Matrix, which was in the possession of Sentinel Prime. However, when Megatron finally killed the Prime, he discovered that it was not within him. Soon after, Optronix became Optimus Prime, and Megatron initiated a plan: an assassination team under Communications Officer Soundwave would elimate the Prime and claim the Matrix, while Military Operations Commander Shockwave would lay siege to Iacon, preventing the Autobots from coming to Prime's rescue.

However, Megatron made two mistakes: he informed Air Commander Starscream of his intentions, and he underestimated Optimus Prime. The Prime managed to erase some of Megatron's memories of what he discovered, while Starscream activated the mechaforming process using energy from the planetary engines. The engines were destroyed before the process was complete, ruining both. The War Within

After Megatron disappeared with Optimus Prime in a space bridge test, Shockwave became Decepticon leader, though Starscream and High Auditor Ratbat broke off with their own splinter factions shortly afterwards. The Decepticons allied with Prowl's Autobots and Grimlock's Lightning Strike Coalition (an Autobot splinter group), to stop the machinations of the Fallen. War Within: The Dark Ages Several thousand years later, Shockwave was prepared to sign a peace treaty with Ultra Magnus, who had become Autobot leader, the LSC, and Ratbat's Ultracon. However, Megatron returned with the Aerospace Extermination Squadron, an army of Quintesson created Seeker drones, whose abilities allowed the Decepticons to fully conquer Cybertron and enslave the Autobots. The Decepticons' control over Cybertron was ended when Optimus Prime returned to Cybertron and the Air Warriors were defeated. War Within: The Age of Wrath

When Megatron disappeared along with the Nemesis crew, Shockwave again emerged as Decepticon leader, this time as head of a triumvirate including Ratbat and Scorponok. With energon becoming scarce, Shockwave agreed to work with Ultra Magnus and Fortress Maximus in the creation of the Micromasters, Transformers who were downsized for better fuel efficiency. Shockwave suffered a rebellion when Skystalker overthrew him, using Shockwave's severed head as a tool. Micromasters However, all Transformers on Cybertron entered stasis lock when the Great Shutdown occurred.

Around 1,000 B.C.E., Shockwave was reactivated by Scourge, and then defeated the Unicronian Transformer. Studying Scourge and discovering some of the secrets Megatron had learned, Shockwave made peace with the Autobots, installing himself as Head of State with an Autobot High Council as a legislature, while Ultra Magnus became his senior security officer. However, the High Councillors were unsuited for peace time government, and gradually gave Shockwave more and more power... which is exactly what he had planned.

On Earth, the Nemesis crew was reawakened in 1984. Cut off from Cybertron, the Decepticons concluded that they had no other choice but to conquer the planet. Megatron soon learned that others had come looking for them, including Jetfire and the Dynobots. The Decepticons captured Jetfire and the Dinobots except Grimlock, and used the hostage situation to force Grimlock to serve the Decepticons. Additionally, the Constructicons located Earth and served under Megatron. In 1998, the Autobots allied with humanity to defeat the Decepticons. They were to be returned to Cybertron in the Ark II, but Shockwave, through a human intermediary, sabotaged the Ark II, causing the ship to crash and send the Transformers aboard into stasis lock.

Renegade members of the United States Military managed to capture the Decepticons and a number of Autobots, intending to use them as instruments of war, but Adam Rook later stole them and set himself up as an arms dealer. Unfortunately, Megatron overwhelmed the programming that kept him a prisoner, and freed the other Decepticons. Megatron then intended to unleash a technovirus on Earth, but the Autobots defeated him. Prime Directive

A year later, Shockwave arrived to tie up loose ends, quickly capturing Megatron and the Nemesis crew. Starscream ejected Megatron out of the ship carrying them to Cybertron, leaving him to die in space. The Nemesis crew were granted amnesty, but Starscream quickly recruited them into going back to Earth to conquer the planet, taking the Combaticons with them. Shockwave was finally overthrown when Optimus Prime united the Autobot resistance groups, but he escaped with a small number of troops. War and Peace

Meanwhile, Megatron was rescued by Wreck-Gar, who repaired his memory loss. Using some recovered Air Warriors, Megatron located the Predacons, who were used to take control of Shockwave's small army. On Earth, Starscream's failures during Sunstorm's rampage were reason enough to convince the Nemesis crew to mutiny against Starscream in Megatron's favor. With two combiner teams, an army of Seekers, Soundwave's cassettes, and knowledge of Earth's connection to Cybertron, Megatron prepared to lead the Decepticons on the conquests of Earth and Cybertron Generation One (Dreamwave comic)...
The Decepticons appear to have been formed out of the uprising in Kaon that Megatron spearheaded in Megatron: Origin. They also may have completely abandoned Cybertron, and have bases set up on the worlds they've captured or space stations as seen in Spotlight: Sixshot.

Aftermath
Both sides signed the Pax Cybertronia, which eventually led to peace, but left the Decepticons in a second class position.

Beast Era
In Beast Wars continuity, the Predacons were the descendants of the Decepticons and fought with the same aggression and ideas of conquest. They faced the Maximals in the same way their ancestors had fought the Autobots.

Robots in Disguise
In the Robots in Disguise cartoon, the Decepticons were a brand new faction that came into being during the events of the story. Because there were so few Decepticons (only six or seven), and because they were a subset of the Predacon antagonists, they can almost be viewed as a subgroup rather than a proper faction. The RiD Decepticons were created on Earth when Megatron's forces captured a set of stasis pods from an ancient Transformer spaceship that had been found on Earth, leading to the birth of the Commandos and Scourge. The toy version of Galvatron was also labeled as a Decepticon, although this "change" in the character's faction was only mentioned once in the cartoon series.

In the Japanese version of RiD, Car Robots, the Decepticons were known as Combatrons. This is the same name by which the G1 Combaticons were called in Japan.

For the Hasbro toy line, several other non-show Decepticons were added to the ranks to help fill out the line. It is unknown how most of these actually fit into the story, though one of them, Axer, is actually a dimension-hopper who arrived from the Generation 1 universe.

Unicron Trilogy
Animated continuity
Armada
The exact origins of the Decepticon faction are a bit muddled. It is widely assumed, though never directly confirmed, that the movement was founded by Megatron. Also, the enslavement of the power-enhancing Mini-Cons is considered to be the impetus to the Decepticons' rise to a massive multi-planet-spanning army, though at what point in the war this occurred is unclear; it's possible the Mini-Cons' arrival was what gave Megatron the opportunity to rise to power, or that they arrived after the war had already begun.

Either way, the Mini-Cons fueled the war machine for centuries, and the war with the Autobots soon spread from Cybertron to other worlds. The self-imposed exile of the Mini-Cons to an unknown destination was seen as a major setback for the Decepticons (and something of a pyrrhic victory for the Autobots), but despite this, the war continued, as both sides had amassed a large enough power base to continue on without the little buggers.

The Autobots and Decepticons seemed to fight to a stalemate, neither able to gain a distinct advantage over the other. When a signal reached Cybertron centuries later that the Mini-Cons had landed on Earth, it seemed neither side was capable of sending a full force to retrieve them, despite the power they contained. Though the Decepticon force sent to Earth was small in numbers, it was far from insignificant; Megatron himself led the squad, backed by some of his most trusted warriors.

When Megatron returned to Cybertron, the overwhelming majority of the Mini-Cons were in the protective custody of the Autobots, but Megatron was unfazed; he had assembled the Mini-Cons required to make the three legendary weapons: the Star Saber, Skyboom Shield and Requiem Blaster. Bolstered by this new power and the apparent death of Optimus Prime, Megatron attempted to take Cybertron once and for all.

But Megatron's return to Cybertron was the beginning of the end of the Decepticon army. When Unicron revealed himself as a threat to both armies, fueled by the negative psychic energies from centuries of death and destruction, the two sides eventually joined together to beat back the planet-eater. Despite the truce, Megatron and Prime engaged in a brutal duel on the surface of the weakened Unicron after the three legendary weapons had been removed from his core. Realizing their battle was keeping Unicron active, Megatron sacrificed himself, and both Unicron and Megatron disappeared into nothingness.

Energon
Megatron's final orders to his troops still stood: work with the Autobots. The Decepticons maintained a degree of autonomy, still wearing the faction sigil and often taking military/defensive positions in the growing number of energon-mining colonies, but they were ultimately answerable to Optimus Prime and the Autobots. There were, of course, dissenters, most of whom were captured and imprisoned. For a decade, Autobot and Decepticon worked side-by-side in a somewhat stable truce.

Both sides found themselves the target of attacks from Unicron again; hordes of Terrorcon drones, sent by Alpha Quintesson to steal energon ore with which to revive the now-shattered husk of Unicron. What the alien did not count on was that Megatron's spark had survived within the remains, and was siphoning energon from Unicron's body. Soon the Decepticon leader revived himself in a new form, drove off Alpha Quintesson, and along with an elite cadre of soldiers and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of mindless Terrorcon drones, began his new plans for conquest.

When news of Megatron's return reached Cybertron, hundreds of Decepticons rose up and rebelled, eager to get back to conquering. But having been joined to Unicron for so long apparently had given Megatron a taste of godhood; he had no more interest in amassing a galaxy-spanning army of troops. Countless Decepticons died in the resulting battles, with Megatron more than willing to sacrifice them without a thought to attain ultimate power for himself. As the "Powerlinx Battles" -as they came to be called- came to their climax, Megatron found that his actions and thoughts were being influenced and controlled by the dark spark of Unicron. Unwilling to let Unicron stand in his way, Megatron ultimately sacrificed himself (again) and seemingly destroyed Unicron's spark by plunging himself into a newly-formed energon sun created by Primus.

Cybertron
What little remained of the once-mighty Decepticon army after Megatron's loss was at best a loose association of criminals, thugs, and lunatics, with no real political or military power to speak of. For a decade, Cybertron was once again at peace, with the population overwhelmingly Autobot or neutral. The Transformers had withdrawn from Earth and its other colonies to focus on revitalizing their homeworld after the devastation of the Powerlinx Battles. However, two great catastrophes shattered this peace; the energon sun collapsed in on itself, forming the powerful black hole known as the Unicron Singularity, which threatened to devour Cybertron and, if left unchecked, the entire universe... and the return yet once again of Megatron, who had absorbed much of what remained of Unicron's power.

Megatron's goal of attaining godhood was now at hand. By obtaining the legendary Omega Lock and the four Cyber Planet Keys, Megatron intended to accelerate the growth of the black hole, consuming the universe in a vast sea of nothingness that only he would survive, then use his powers to re-create the universe in his image.

To this end, he had no need of an army. He gathered a small group of allies and lackeys to seek the items he needed, but they were nothing more than pawns to him, to be used and discarded at a whim.

The Decepticons briefly regained their status as a mass army of individuals when Starscream, who had long suffered at Megatron's hands since the beginning of the Decepticons, made his own bid for ultimate power with the help of the Planet X agent Sideways. Having sealed Megatron and his troops in a trap, Starscream freed hundreds of criminal Transformers who had been locked up on Earth for millennia, and formed his own globe-spanning army. The Decepticon "Monsters" were tasked with finding the Omega Lock and Earth's Cyber Planet Key, which they eventually brought to their leader. However, numerous Decepticons were killed in the battles with the Autobots, and it soon became apparent that Starscream, like Megatron before him, didn't care. Most of these criminals soon abandoned Starscream and went into hiding.

As for Megatron, he too had deserters among his own considerably-small ranks. Most notably, the powerful Scourge, leader of the Jungle Planet and the colossal Menasor from Gigantion, both of whom eventually joined forces with their former enemies the Autobots.

This was not seen as a concern for Megatron, however, as by this time Starscream and his allies were seemingly destroyed on Gigantion, and Megatron (now calling himself "Galvatron" again) had the Omega Lock and all four Keys. What few Decepticons remained loyal to him were too stupid to see what Galvatron had planned, and made perfect distractions as he set his final plan in motion. If they weren't strong enough to survive the coming cataclysm, then so be it.

Ultimately, Galvatron's plan failed, and the Unicron Singularity was sealed. His remaining Decepticons quickly left him, realizing what was likely to have happened to them, and eventually joined the Autobots. After Galvatron's seemingly-final defeat and death in a one-on-one duel with Optimus Prime on Cybertron's moon, the Decepticons, not knowing when to quit, rose again, albeit in a rather pathetic fashion. Having cobbled together a rather rickety rocket, Ransack, Crumplezone and Thunderblast shanghaied the reluctant Thundercracker, who was really keen on being on the winning side for once, and flew off to parts unknown as the "New Decepticon Army".

They made it to Mars before the rocket crash-landed.

Meanwhile, the Autobot Wing Saber reported form a deep-space recon mission that he thought he had picked up traces of Starscream, seemingly backed up by Sideways and Soundwave. Landmine and the former Decepticon Mudflap raced off to join Wing Saber and investigate...

Comics continuity
Armada
Founded by Megatron, the exact number of the original Decepticons is unknown. Using the Mini-Cons as weapons, they were able to conquer Cybertron and force the Autobots underground. Eventually they were beaten due to the arrival of Unicron: his heralds slaughtered the entire Decepticon base on Cybertron, and the Chaos-Bringer's arrival forced them to join forces with the Autobots. With Megatron shot dead during the Unicron battle, the peace held for a period of years.
The Decepticons are the Transformers who sided with Lord High Protector Megatron and attempted to seize the All Spark. Their numbers ranged from the treacherous, the fanatical, the violent, the spastic and the treacherous fanatically violent spazzes

The origins of these Decepticons began when a being known as The Fallen was trapped in his sarcophagus by his brothers for his attempt to seize the power of the All Spark for himself. Thousands of years later when his sarcophagus is discovered by researchers, the Fallen discovered the latent aggressive edge in Megatron, Protector of Cybertron and filled him with dreams of power and paranoia of losing that power. Megatron reformed the peaceful protectors of Cybertron's defense force into a massive engine of war, ready to wipe out entire alien species who would dare challenge them. When science leader Optimus Prime's opposition became known, Megatron branded them traitors and declared his followers to be the Decepticons. Defiance

The Decepticons overwhelmed the valiant yet peaceful Autobots, and Optimus Prime made the desperate decision to launch the All Spark into deep space. Megatron obsessively followed after it, and disappeared. Starscream took over leadership, and began a search for Megatron and the All Spark. After a while, Starscream began to focus more on the All Spark, hoping Megatron would remain lost, something the other Decepticons began to suspect.

The Decepticon insignia in this series was created when Megatron first communicated with the Fallen through an inter-dimensional "window". The Fallen's distorted face in the window is the current Decepticon insignia.

The Decepticons are, in general, less human in appearance than the Autobots in the movie, resembling carnivorous mammals, birds, insects or the Decepticon insignia itself (possibly to frighten the insects). The comics show that the Decepticons are overstretched on Cybertron: they use drone units to bolster their forces Prelude: Optimus Prime and many of their outposts are mostly automated. Lost In Space 3: Ironhide

In a departure from previous Transformers incarnations, Japan used the name "Decepticons" for this franchise, rather than "Destrons".

What is also most noticeable about the Decepticons in the movie franchise is that they've actually been designed to resemble the insignia of their faction, most notably Megatron, Blackout, Barricade, and The Fallen.

Animated
ongoing
4 million stellar cycles ago, the Autobots and Decepticons battled each other in what is now known as The Great War. The Autobots pulled a victory only due to their exclusive access to space bridges and their decision to send the AllSpark into deep space. Defeated, the Decepticons dispersed, and, according to Ultra Magnus, the only sight of them would be an occasional scout ship. In fact, they had been missing for so long, Optimus Prime believed a Decepticon presence was a thing of the past. This was quickly reassessed upon encountering Megatron's crew.

The Decepticons in Transformers Animated are fought by the Autobots a lot less than in previous continuities, instead staying mostly in the background, thus making it more momentous whenever they do appear. To go with this plan, the Decepticons are, for the most part, stronger than the Autobots in this series.
The Revenge of the Fallen Wii and PS2 games are considerably different than the X-Box 360 and PS3 versions, even using different gameplay. It was developed by Krome Studios, and shares a few developers with the earlier Armada-based game, Krome having acquired Melbourne House, the company that developed the Armada game, in 2006.

Story
With Megatron destroyed, Optimus Prime and the Autobots have begun fighting off the remaining Decepticons. However, Starscream and his master are not going down without a fight...

In space, an innocent satellite is just floating around, but a mysterious, alien satellite docks with it. Quickly, Soundwave locates a NEST convoy, and orders Sideways and Demolishor to intercept. Sideways steals the convoy's cargo, while Demolishor causes destruction.

Chapter 1: Optimus invades

Meanwhile, the Decepticons have taken control of a NEST gun and are firing at planes. Two Autobot fighter jets go down, but before the large transport plane explodes, Optimus Prime leaps out. As he falls toward Shanghai, Decepticon Long-range warriors intercept. While Optimus is firing at them with his light weapons, the NEST gun continues firing at him. And on top of all that, ground based Decepticons are firing huge missiles. When Prime defeats the warriors, a Long-range lieutenant takes him on. When he defeats the lieutenant, three more warriors come at him. He cuts one in half, and quickly dispatches of the other two. He then lands and orders the Autobots to report. Bumblebee is chasing Sideways, and Ironhide is on Demolishor's tail.

Chapter 2: Ironhide vs. Demolishor

Ironhide blows up and smashes his way through numerous Decepticon drones, eventually jumping between walls onto a rooftop and winning a shootout with Decepticon long range warriors. A cutscene follows that depicts Ironhide jumping off the building onto the street, toppling a tower crane with his light weapon as Demolishor is under it. This knocks Demolishor into a pit, where he appears to be digging for something. Ironhide takes out Demolishor's top wheel and finally kills the larger Decepticon with three punches to the head.
Notes
* You are unable to transform in robot missions, but able to transform in driving missions, and can jump from wall to wall. Sounds kind of familiar.
* While on the first game, cars (and humans) seemed nearly invincible until you shot them, in this game, if you so much as step on a car, it explodes.
* Jetfire can beat the snot out of Decepticons by stepping on them!
Differences with the Movie
Krome was clearly writing the game on a different planet than the Movie's script.

* Sideways doesn't die in Shanghai.
* Ironhide, rather than Optimus, kills Demolishor.
* Instead of the forest, Megatron wounds Optimus in the Decepticon base.
* Optimus does not die, but is damaged.
* The Fallen appears to be in total command of the Decepticons even before Megatron revives, as he is the one calling the shots.
* Sam and Mikaela aren't in the game, except for a brief phone conversation with Optimus, and even then, it is only their voices.
* Optimus kills The Fallen by putting him in front of the Star Harvester's beam.
* The battle with Devastator happens in the first battle. While Optimus, Ironhide, and Bumblebee are cleaning up in Shanghai, Devastator appears out of nowhere and attacks.
* Also, Optimus Prime, rather than a railgun, kills Devastator.
* Instead of looking for the Matrix, The Fallen looks for pieces of the Harvester, saying he already has the Matrix. We...probably don't want to know what that means.
* Instead of being trapped in the Smithsonian, Jetfire is in the Decepticon base.

:Scrapper is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Scrapper is one of the Constructicons. Once, he and his pal Mix were just a pair of construction vehicles, but a pair of AllSpark fragments changed all that. Though not the sharpest tool in the box, he does know construction like nobody's business. Like his compadre, he has an innate knack for grasping construction projects, and upon seeing a set of blueprints can get right to work. He doesn't want much out of life, just some oil to fill him up after a hard day's work and maybe a nice car to catcall.
Scrapper and his good buddy Mix were spontaneously brought to life by AllSpark shards embedded in them. Though not quick on the uptake, the two Constructobots were able to name themselves and quickly hit the ground running...after attractive sports cars. When Scrapper noticed a construction accident about to harm Bulkhead, he pulled over with his friend and intervened. Tidying up the construction site with a fair amount of skill, he befriended the large Autobot and pressured him into going off for an oil break...from a nearby oil tanker. After expressing his misgivings about stealing oil, Bulkhead took the two Constructobots to the old auto factory to meet the other Autobots. Scrapper and Mixmaster proved too rough around the edges even for Ratchet's tastes, and their cavorting woke up Sari Sumdac. He and Mixmaster shared a laugh over the Autobots' "pet" while Optimus Prime asked Bulkhead why he was bringing "strangers" to their base (thus proving to be none too observant in the search for AllSpark fragments himself). Scrapper then went back to drinking oil and so flubbed a catch in a game of oil-barrel-lid frisbee. The disc severed Sari's pigtails, so Scrap found himself and Mixmaster kicked out the factory by Prime.

Dejected, Mixmaster and Scrapper happened upon Blitzwing and Lugnut stealing construction supplies...very ineffectively. Once again, they intervened just before someone could get hurt, saving Blitzwing from getting creamed by the load he was carrying. Scrapper then heard approaching police sirens, which Blitzwing told them was a quitting bell, meaning they could go home. Scrap and Mixmaster indicated they didn't have a home, so their two new buddies offered to let the Constructobots come home with them, saying the pair would be welcome to stay as long as they hauled the heavy trailers of supplies. As Scrapper obligingly pushed the supply containers uphill and out of earshot, he didn't hear Blitzwing ease Lugnut's concerns about Megatron's disapproval by assuring him that he'd take the two new bots offline once the heavy lifting was done. After the load was hauled, Scrapper was all set for an oily reward, unaware Lugnut was about to use his signature punch upon him and Mixmaster, when Megatron intervened. Scrapper followed Megatron into the Decepticons' inner sanctum, where he noted that the Decepticons had a pet as well. Then Megatron had the "pet" show Scrapper the space bridge schematics. He and Mixmaster immediately knew exactly what supplies would be needed to complete the bridge, as well as where they could be obtained.

The next day, Scrapper and Mixmaster "acquired" (stole) a load of construction materials and were fleeing pursuit by Sumdac Systems police robots when they ran into Bulkhead again. Stopping the chase, Bulkhead asked them what they were doing, and the Constructobots, being trusting souls, told him. Scrapper couldn't figure out why Bulky was so upset they were working for the Decepticons until Bulkhead said Megatron was trying to put one over on them. Mix and Scrapper weren't about to stand still for that, and they sped off to settle the score. Their initial complaints didn't go over well, as the Decepticon leader proved far less gentle and jovial, slamming them up against the mountainside near the mine. When he and Mixmaster said why they were angry, though, Megatron turned on the sweet talk again, spinning a tale of Autobot oppression. This proved a bit high-concept for Scrapper, but then Megatron offered to explain it over a few barrels of oil. This proved far more Scrap and Mixmaster's speed, and soon they were guzzling away while Megatron once again pitched the space bridge project.

Showing up at the auto factory, Scrapper joined Mixmaster in revealing that they were indeed working for Megatron, since Megatron had better oil. Showing there were no hard feelings, they said they weren't about to hurt the Autobots, just come pick up the AllSpark fragments and be on their way. Optimus Prime objected, but Mixmaster called him a dipstick and knocked over the 98-ton-weakling. A fight broke out, and Scrapper tackled Prowl—without much success. Scrapper picked himself up while Mixmaster ransomed Bumblebee for the fragments. However, once Bulkhead handed over the fragments, Scrapper had no trouble accepting Bulky's offer to have "one for the road." Of course, he didn't know Bulkhead had secretly slipped him and Mixmaster some tainted oil, contaminated by the expired fixative that Bulkhead had saved. As Scrapper and Mixmaster ran off, Mix began feeling a little queasy. Scrapper teased him about not being able to hold his oil, until he started feeling the effects too. The bad oil reacted explosively, knocking out him and Mixmaster so the Autobots could reclaim the fragments. The blast also scrambled their memories, so when Scrapper came to, he didn't know who the big, angry guy was or why he was ranting about someone named Megatron and flinging his wrecking ball at them. Confused and frightened, Scrapper decided to vamoose. Rise of the Constructicons

Continuing to function, Scrapper and "Mix" resumed their obnoxious lifestyle, including oil consumption, attacking Marrmaba Brothers, Detroit's downtown auto supply store. Taking 100 barrels of motor oil with them, they quickly became the highlight of the local news, and the Autobots' attention.

Evading the police, Scrap and Mix found the trail of Bumblebee's leaking lubricant and followed it to find the source, no doubt with oil. Arriving at the undefended Autobot base, Scrapper quickly wondered how to bypass the door, but Mixmaster simply unleashed a torrent of acidic liquid, creating "a door" for them to enter. As they entered the base (quickly finding it so familiar), they ran into Sari, left behind by the Autobots. Scrap was subsequently attacked by a barrage of sound from Sari screaming after Mix asked her about where to find some local oil. Sari made her escape and trapped Scrap under a large gate, and was rescued by Mixmaster. Scrapper wanted to make an escape, but Mixmaster told him obviously Sari was hiding some primo oil, and he should grow a backhoe and follow the Autobot sidekick.

Continuing their search, they went into Sari's room and destroyed her handheld communicator, cutting her off from the Autobots. Not finding Sari, who was hiding in her bed, they continued to the Autobots' recreational area, as Scrapper admired the Autobots' large flat screen. Sari came bursting in to attack them with a hockey stick, but her plan sadly did not have a Plan B, and escaped. Mix replied she should come out, they wouldn't hurt her....much. They continued their search and found a stockpile of oil, guarded by Sari. Scrapper knew it was a trap, but was goaded by Mixmaster into getting the oil, and tripping on some oil. Scrap continued to not anger the human, but obviously Mix did not listen, and got pounded by the factory assembly line. After the beating, Mixmaster finally said NO oil could be worth this, much to Scrapper's chagrin, who had declared this all along. On the run from the Autobots once more, Scrap and Mix were intercepted by Blitzwing, who was sent by Megatron to bring them back. After giving them a barrel of the Decepticon premium oil, Blitzwing said there was plenty more where that came from. Remembering this from their prior visit with the Decepts, they then left, with Blitzwing.... Sari, No One's Home

With Megatron supervising, Scrapper and his buddy Mix later helped the Decepticons finish their space bridge. Their reward was a painful branding as part of officially becoming Decepticons themselves. When Bulkhead was captured and brought to Megatron, he begged the Constructicons for help, but thanks to the tainted oil having blanked their memories, neither Scrapper nor Mixmaster recognized him. Scrapper later suffered having to haul around some heavy spage bridge parts with Mixmaster while Bulkhead and Professor Sumdac argued over where the parts should go. He soon got sick of it and joined his buddy in an oil break. Before he could relish the moment, Starscream and a bunch of off-colored lookalikes broke into the base from above. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Megatron ordered Scrapper to provide him backup against Starscream's clones, apparently surprising him enough that he loosened his grip and lost his prisoners. Though Mixmaster had been ordered to find Blitzwing and Lugnut, he got busy plastering Starscreams and Autobots with his cement, so Scrapper found and freed the two Decepticons instead. He later cheered on Megatron's victory (despite having no idea what this "Cybertron" thing was anyway). The Autobot ship itself then arrived to attack, and Scrapper was ordered to help Mixmaster clear rubble from around the space bridge. Things really started to fall apart when the Space Bridge malfunctioned. Scrapper was last seen with Mix, heroically trying to save the oil from a cave-in. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

With Megatron disappearing in the space bridge incident, Scrapper and Mixmaster spent their free time drinking oil and watching sexy cars take their parts off until Bulkhead approached them with an offer to build another bridge. The Constructicons weren't too keen on working with Autobots, but eventually accepted when Bulkhead told them that no other Decepticons would ever learn about it. While cleaning up in Sumdac Tower, however, Scrapper dug up Dirt Boss—a new forklift Constructicon, recently given life by some AllSpark fragments just like Scrapper and Mixmaster. Dirt Boss immediately exerted his dominion over the other Constructicons, but Scrapper was none too impressed by the diminutive robot... until it took control of his motor functions and forced him to beat himself up until he admitted that Dirt Boss was the boss.

However, Dirt Boss had no interest in building space bridges, as he had a grand plan to take over Detroit by hijacking energy resources—a plan Scrapper and Mixmaster agreed on when they realized that oil was a prime energy resource. After the Constructicons spent the night stealing huge amounts of oil, Dirt Boss revealed the next step of his plan: destroying the Fossil Fuel oil refinery plant, forcing the city to come to him for their oil needs. While Bulkhead alone failed to stop them, they were soon confronted by the other Autobots. After a one-on-one with Bumblebee, Scrapper accidentally got his drill arm stuck in Mixmaster's mixing drum, causing a few sparks that set fire to the facility. Unable to stop the flames from reaching a giant oil tank that the Constructicons had climbed up on, the Autobots attached a plasmadynamic thruster to the whole thing, causing it to transwarp out into Lake Erie and explode, with Scrapper, Mixmaster and Dirt Boss still on it. Three's a Crowd

Scrapper washed ashore on Dinobot Island following the oil rig explosion, but was separated from his fellow Constructicons. He wasn't alone though. One of the Dinobots had found him and Scrapper took to treating him like a pet. Naming the giant triceratops "Snarl" (guess he didn't like Slag), Scrap had taken to a more relaxing lifestyle, when Sari found him while trying to enlist in the other Dinobots help to defeat Soundwave and save her friends. After promises of some high-grade oil and a few threats, the trio sailed back to Detroit on a makeshift raft. On the way, some nutso pile of junk jumped out of the water and teamed up with them.

After coming ashore, the "Substitute Autobots" went to confront Soundwave, feeling confident because they not only outnumbered that overgrown music box, but they also had the element of surprise. Of course, when Soundwave burst out of the ground and sent the reprogrammed Autobots out to fight them, they were feeling a lot less confident. At first, the "real" Autobots kicked their substitutes' cans, until some smart thinking from the team's leader left Soundwave's control over the Autobots a bit lacking. Of course, when he was left with no one but Optimus, he regained the upper hand, picking up Snarl by the horns and slamming into the street. Scrap called out the Autobot for cruelty to Dinobots, but was quickly taken out of the fight when the two got crushed by a billboard.

After the Autobots were freed and Soundwave got his skidplate handed to him by Optimus Prime, Scrapper decided heroics was too much work for him (and no overtime), so he decided to take a long vacation. He tried to ride Snarl back to Dinobot Island, but the big lug kicked him off and forced him to drive back. Human Error, Part II
Notes
*Scrapper got his name from the first thing he saw, a sign that said "SCRAP". His buddy Mix thought it was too short, so they both just settled on Scrapper instead.

*Scrapper's alternate mode hearkens back to another Constructicon, while his transformation scheme (caterpillar treads into legs, loader into chest) is based on yet another.
*Scrapper starts out in a more standard construction vehicle color scheme of yellow and gray, and only switches to the classic Constructicon green and purple after becoming a Decepticon.
*Like his good pal Mix, Scrapper's following the construction tradition of showing his buttcrack.
*An early head design sketch depicts Scrapper as having a vehicle grill-styled moustache, mirrored cab window "glasses" and no helmet.
* In robot mode, the neck of his power shovel comes out of his crotch. This is highly disturbing.
* In robot mode, he can transform his hand into a drill. This is likely a reference to the accessories of his alt mode basis, where the forearm of Devastator could be attached with a drill instead of a fist for a sort of battle mode.
* Its possible he's dead due to the fact Prowl drew in several, if not all, of the All Spark shards, one of which gave him life, in Detroit and the area surrounding it. Starscream died as a result of this so it is plausible Mixmaster and Scrapper both could have died from this. Twenty bucks you were having a nice day until you decided to read the notes of this article.
:Mixmaster is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Mixmaster (or "Mix" to his friends) seems to be the de facto leader of the Constructicons. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, he spends his time overindulging in oil and whistling at passing cars with his buddy, Scrapper. Mix isn't a bad sort at heart, always willing to help a fellow 'bot, but his moral compass is apparently guided by whoever's got the best oil to offer. For all their seeming unsophistication, he and Scrapper still have an innate knack for construction-related activities. They can slap together a sturdy construct out of raw materials in seconds, and just by looking at a set of blueprints, even incomplete ones, they can tell just what's needed to get the job done. In addition to the abilities he shares with his partner, Mixmaster can also create any number of chemical concoctions in the churning belly of his mixing drum.

Mix and his compatriot Scrapper were spontaneously brought to life by AllSpark shards embedded in them. Though not quick on the uptake, the two Constructibots were able to name themselves and quickly hit the ground running...after attractive sports cars. When he noticed a construction accident about to harm Bulkhead, he pulled over with his friend and intervened. Mixmaster and Scrapper proved too rough around the edges even for Ratchet's tastes, and their cavorting woke up Sari. Mixmaster didn't think much of their stickshift-in-the-mud leader, Optimus Prime, who asked Bulkhead why he was bringing "strangers" to their base (thus proving to be none too observant in the search for AllSpark fragments himself). After a game of flattened-oil-barrel Frisbee severed Sari's pigtails, Mix found himself and Scrapper kicked out the factory by Prime.

Dejected, Mixmaster and Scrapper happened upon Blitzwing and Lugnut stealing construction supplies...very ineffectively. Once again, they intervened just before someone could get hurt, saving Blitzwing from getting creamed by the load he was carrying. Mixmaster then heard approaching police sirens, which Blitzwing told them was a quitting time signal, meaning they could go home. Mix and Scrapper indicated they didn't have a home, so their two new buddies offered to let the Constructobots come home with them, saying Mix and Scrapper would be welcome to stay as long as they hauled the heavy trailers of supplies. As Mixmaster obligingly pushed the supply containers uphill and out of earshot, he didn't hear Blitzwing ease Lugnut's concerns about Megatron's disapproval by assuring that he'd take take the two new bots offline once the heavy lifting was done. After the load was hauled, Mixmaster was all set for a reward, unaware Lugnut was about to use his signature punch upon him and Scrapper, when Megatron intervened. Mixmaster followed Megatron into the Decepticons' inner sanctum, where he saw the space bridge schematics. He and Scrapper immediately knew exactly what supplies would be needed to complete the bridge, as well as where they could be obtained.

The next day, Mixmaster and Scrapper "acquired" (stole) a load of construction materials and were fleeing pursuit by Sumdac Systems police robots when they ran into Bulkhead again. Stopping the chase, Bulkhead asked them what they were doing, and the Constructobots, being trusting souls, told him. Mixmaster couldn't figure out why Bulky was so upset they were working for the Decepticons until he said Megatron was trying to put one over on them. Mix and Scrapper weren't about to stand still for that, and they sped off to settle the score. Their initial complaints didn't go over well, as the Decepticon leader proved far less gentle and jovial, slamming them up against the mountainside near the mine. When Mixmaster said why they were angry, though, Megatron turned on the sweet talk again, spinning a tale of Autobot oppression. This proved a bit high-concept for Mixmaster, but then Megatron offered to explain it over a few barrels of oil. This was far more Mix and Scrapper's speed, and soon they were guzzling away while Megatron once again pitched the space bridge project.

Showing up at the auto factory, Mixmaster revealed that they were now working for Megatron. Much like real construction workers, they went to the highest bidder, and Megatron had better oil. Showing there were no hard feelings, they said they weren't about to hurt the Autobots, just come pick up the AllSpark fragments and be on their way. Optimus Prime objected, but Mixmaster called him a dipstick and knocked over the 98-ton-weakling. A fight broke out, and Mixmaster went so far as to ransom Bumblebee for the fragments. However, once Bulkhead handed over the fragments, Mixmaster had no trouble accepting Bulky's offer to have "one for the road." Of course, he didn't know Bulkhead had secretly slipped him and Scrapper some tainted oil, contaminated by the expired fixative that Bulkhead had saved. As Mixmaster and Scrapper ran off, the bad oil reacted explosively, knocking them out so the Autobots could reclaim the fragments. The blast also scrambled their memories, so when Mixmaster came to, he didn't know who the big, angry guy was or why he was ranting about someone named Megatron and flinging his wrecking ball at them. Confused and frightened, Mixmaster decided to vamoose. Rise of the Constructicons

Continuing to function, Mix and Scrapper continued to wander around guzzling fuel, gaining the attention of the Autobots, Decepticons and police; all the while, Mix kept trying to remember where they'd found the "really good oil" last time. Finding a trail of Bumblebee's leaking lubricant, Mix followed it back to Autobot base and quickly burned the door down in order to find any oil in there. He soon came across a small fleshy thing but when he asked it if it knew where there was any oil, it unleashed a sonic attack to overload their audio sensors.

While Scrapper was scared and wanted to leave, fearing this creature was what had caused their memory loss, Mix was determined to find oil and told his friend to "grow a backhoe". However, their search continuously drew them into conflict with the strange creature; Mix became angry enough to threaten it with violence, ignore all of Scrapper's warnings and then be drawn into a really blatant trap. A severe beating by the factory assembly line finally convinced him that Scrapper was right, no oil was worth this, and the two fled the base.

Luckily a nice German guy turned up with some barrels of that really good oil, and the Constructicons followed him home. Good thing that small fleshy thing drove them off, or they'd never have met this guy and gone off with him! Sari, No One's Home

Under the watchful eye of Megatron, Mixmaster and his buddy Scrapper helped the Decepticons finish their space bridge and were rewarded with being branded as Decepticons themselves. Later, Mixmaster encountered Bulkhead, but due to the memory wipe from the spiked oil he and Scrapper drank, neither of them recognized him. Mixmaster proved his worth as a Decepticon warrior after using his quick-drying cement to anchor Prowl and Optimus Prime to the ground when the Autobots invaded the Decepticon base. The feeling of victory was short-lived, as some loud-mouth and a bunch of oddly colored jets broke into the base from above. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Mix would've happily stayed out of this fight, except one of those good-for-nothing 'bots spilt his oil! His blasts of quick-drying cement were a major asset in the battle, helping paralyze foes like some big-headed jerk. He later cheered on Megatron's victory (despite having no idea what this "Cybertron" thing was anyway) only to watch it all fall apart when the Space Bridge malfunctioned. Mix was last seen heroically trying to save the oil from a cave-in. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

charstubfiction
Three's a Crowd

48 days later, Scrapper had still not managed to contact or locate Mixmaster or Dirt Boss. Human Error, Part II

Trivia
* Mixmaster follows the true blue-collar construction worker tradition of showing his buttcrack.
* Mixmaster calls himself Mix because he thinks the name Mixmaster is too long, yet thinks Scrap is too short.
* Mixmaster starts out in a more standard construction vehicle color scheme of yellow and gray, and only switches to the classic Constructicon green and purple after becoming a Decepticon.
* In a particular odd bit of concept art, Mixmaster's vehicle mode is shown in an upturned position supported only by his shovel. Almost like... a leg. Naaaaw, couldn't be...
* Mixmaster's voice is very reminiscent of Joe Pesci's. The episode "Sari, No One's Home" utilizes a theme homaging the Home Alone movie series, which co-starred Joe Pesci as a hapless thief.
* Its possible he's dead due to the fact Prowl drew in several, if not all, of the All Spark shards, one of which gave him life, in Detroit and the area surrounding it. Starscream died as a result of this so it is plausible Mixmaster and Scrapper both could have died from this. Predacon
:The Predacons are a faction in the Beast Era portion of the Generation 1 continuity.

Arising from the ashes of the Great War, the Predacons are, at least in part, descendants of the Decepticons, born from what remained of the original five Predacons. By order of the Pax Cybertronia, they exist as something of an underclass, appearing to be equals, but firmly under the Maximals in the social order. This has lead many Predacons to hold bitter grudges against the Maximals.

When Predacons take beast modes, they tend to be dinosaurs, reptiles, insects, spiders, and similar "scaly/crawly things", though this is not a hard-and-fast rule.

The adjective for "of or pertaining to the Predacons" is Predaconial, though it is extremely common to simply substitute 'Predacon'.

:French-Canadian name: Prédators

Origin
Little is known of the origin of the Predacons, beyond their descent from the original Decepticon group of that name.fact In particular the Decepticon Predacon Divebomb is known to have taken an active role in recruiting several ex-Decepticons following the end of the Great War. They were in existence and at war with the Maximal Imperium prior to the signing of the Pax Cybertronia, at which time most laid down their arms, but a few went rogue.

Organization
The Predacons, although apparently governed by an organization known as the Predacon Alliance, appear to be a splintered faction. One of the major ruling bodies is the Tripredacus Council, but they may represent only one political voice within the Alliance. The Council keeps its followers pacified under the Pax Cybertronia with the promise of a slow, sly return to power, whispering of a long-term plan to overthrow the Maximals when the time is right. A number of Predacons have expressed dissatisfaction with this approach, leading renegades such as Megatron, Galvatron and Magmatron to recruit private armies of followers and, either covertly or overtly, strike out against the Maximals on their own. All known Beast Wars-era Predacons tend to fall within the arms of these renegade militias, with the exceptions of Tarantulas and Ravage, who were members of the Predacon Secret Police, and the Tripredacus Council itself. It is unknown whether the Predacons have any sort of official standing army or defense force other than this internal Secret Police.

Bases of operation
It is unknown where exactly the Predacons are based.

The Tripredacus Council holds meetings aboard a space station, Predacon Command Outpost One.

While one would presume the Predacons also had some sort of presence on Cybertron itself, there's evidence to the contrary. After the Beast Warriors return to Cybertron following the events of Beast Wars, Optimus Primal, Megatron, and others refer frequently to the missing population as Maximals only. This seems to suggest that they expected the number of Predacons on the planet to be negligible, if not zero. The only notable mention of Predacons in the series comes when Rattrap wonders what the murderous Tankor would have been like if he'd been reformatted from a Predacon instead of the Maximal Rhinox.

In reality, the Predacons were excluded from the Beast Machines show and toy line for fear of confusing children with a third faction. Beast Machines story editor and head writer Robert N. Skir suggests in his FAQ pages that the Predacons suffered the same fate as the Maximals.

Note
Most of the Predacons' alternate modes from Beast Wars II are vehicles instead of animals. While the Predacons from Beast Wars Neo transform into prehistoric reptiles and animals such as Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, and ammonites.
