If mighty [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] were to command '''Lugnut''' to jump, the powerful Decepticon would be in the upper atmosphere long before his master could specify how high. In Lugnut's optic, bold, heroic Megatron embodies the Decepticon cause, and his devotion is total. It's easy to misinterpret Lugnut’s blind zeal for a lack of overall processing power, but this is not the case. Although he isn't much of a thinker or planner, Lugnut does not care, for wise Megatron is brilliant enough for a thousand Decepticons. Brilliant Megatron makes the plans, and Lugnut carries them out.

Renowned throughout Cybertron as one of the most destructive fighters for the Decepticon cause, Lugnut has no time or patience for contemplation or strategy when he could just as easily level an entire Autobot battalion with a single explosive punch. He knows that his unparalleled strength, endurance, and seemingly limitless missile payload is enough to serve glorious, bold, fresh-scented MEGATRON! Autobots that know him know the only way to survive a fight with him is to stay clear of his path.

Lugnut was on board the [[Nemesis (Animated)|''Nemesis'']] with [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]], [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]], [[Blitzwing (Animated)|Blitzwing]] and [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]] when they discovered the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]]. Doubting that it was near, Starscream insulted Megatron (out of the latter's presence, of course) as a fool who was chasing a ghost. Furious, Lugnut leapt in and roared at the "traitor" about how Megatron would lead the Decepticons to a new age. Blackarachnia mocked him, asking if the speech was memorized or just hardwired into his one-track processor. Blitzwing indirectly defended Lugnut by insulting Blackarachnia, but soon burst into song, prompting all the Decepticons to argue until the entry of Megatron silenced them. Later, when it became clear the ''Nemesis'' was going to crash into an exploding space bridge, Lugnut showed uncharacteristic intelligence by fleeing in an escape pod. {{storylink|Transform and Roll Out!}}

After arriving on [[Earth]]'s [[Moon (moon)|Moon]], Lugnut and Blitzwing discovered the ''Nemesis'', near where Blitzwing mentioned that [[Lockdown]] had last reported. Lugnut did not care for the bounty hunter or his mission, for he still believed that Megatron was alive. Heading to Earth, the two crash landed at a construction site, where Lugnut interrogated a crane on Megatron's whereabouts with little success. After randomly destroying everything in sight, Lugnut and Blitzwing had a battle with the Autobots. Lugnut easily outgunned the Autobots himself, and was able to throw [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] around like he was nothing. When he demanded managed to where Megatron was, [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] mentioned that he was reduced to a "fireball somewhere over [[Cleveland]]". Screaming "Megatron lives", Lugnut knocked out the Autobots with his [[rocket punch]] (which Blitzwing says he told him "a thousand times" to warn him before using), which convinced Megatron that Lugnut could be trusted. He contacted only Lugnut, who, in his eagerness, dragged Blitzwing away from the fight. Blitzwing thought that Lugnut had finally overheated his motherboard and headbutted him, causing Blitzwing to fall straight smack dab in the middle of a military base. When they heard police cars approaching, Blitzwing suggested that they lay low to determine their strengths, but Lugnut planned to slaughter them en masse. An annoyed Megatron told him to shut up and get a disguise.

That evening, Megatron contacted Lugnut, uploading a sample of the [[Sari Sumdac's key|AllSpark key]]'s energy signature, and instructed him to use it to find the AllSpark itself, which would restore Megatron. Heading for Lake Erie, the two Decepticons tracked down the ''[[Ark (Animated)|Ark]]''. Once they'd followed the Autobots below its surface, Lugnut showed remarkable intelligence by being reluctant to enter the underwater smokescreen [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] had created, although he still entered to follow Blitzwing. Obscured by kicked-up dust, his targeting systems still found a body in the haze. Pleased that his targeting sensors had not failed him, he fired{{m-}}on Blitzwing. The Autobots seemed to have the upper hand when Lugnut again displayed unexpected smarts by transforming and using his jet thrusters to blow away the obscuring dirt. Unfortunately for him and Blitzwing, just as they were going destroy the Autobots, [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] and [[Sari Sumdac]] brought the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s weapon systems online. The two Decepticons were blasted to the shores of Lake Erie in several pieces, severing Megatron's radio link with Lugnut and thus leaving the poor lunk to believe that his master had forsaken him. For reasons unknown, Lugnut agreed to Starscream's request. However, when Megatron contacted him, Lugnut immediately repledged himself to Megatron. The Decepticon leader told Lugnut to locate the key and bring it to him. Taking it from [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]], Lugnut blabbed the whole Decepticon thing to [[Isaac Sumdac]], forcing him to kneel to Megatron. Now that he knew Lugnut wasn't totally bonkers (like him), Blitzwing used the key to help Megatron repair his body and restore him. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 1}}

As Megatron proceeded to beat up the Autobots, Blitzwing and Lugnut decided not to intervene, but to keep an eye on Professor Sumdac. As Megatron called his loyal troops to him, Lugnut briefly found himself humiliated by Starscream, but then got to look on as Megatron made an example of the schemer. The Decepticons took to the air, locating and attacking the ''Ark'' as it traveled from the lake to the Tower, then from the Tower to Dinobot Island, where it was shot down. Bulkhead leapt into the air and [[Jet judo|Jet-Judo'd]] Lugnut, and the two landed in the forest. Although Lugnut was the physically stronger of the pair and tossed Bulkhead around like a beach ball, his zeal let him down. He prepared to use his powerful punch...and Bulkhead slammed the ignition point with his wrecking ball, causing a powerful explosion that defeated the brute. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 2}}

After the battle with Bulkhead, Lugnut helped the Decepticons set up a base in a mine, even though his left arm kept falling off. Not realizing that the mine's carbon deposits shielded their energy signatures from Autobot detection, Lugnut did not understand why they had to hide. He was even more confused by Megatron's plan to conquer Cybertron, but this didn't prevent him from hitting a doubting Blitzwing. Things became clearer to Lugnut when Megatron said that they would use [[Space bridge#Animated|space bridge]] technology, one of the two reasons they lost the Great War, to reach and conquer Cybertron. First, they needed Isaac Sumdac, who had been captured by Megatron, in order to reverse-engineer the missing pieces of the space bridge data Megatron had copied. When a servant-bot in Sumdac's enclosure malfunctioned, Lugnut accused the professor of sabotaging Megatron's plans. However, he backed down at the behest of Megatron, who learned the servant-bot had acted as it did because it had a fragment of the AllSpark in its circuits. {{storylink|The Elite Guard}}

Lugnut and Blitzwing were sent by Megatron to steal a tachyon generator from the Elite Guard's ship. Lugnut was able to acquire the generator, when Starscream appeared and tried to destroy Megatron. After the Decepticon leader offlined him, Lugnut confirmed that Starscream was dead. After all, there was no spark in his spark chamber, so he had to be dead. Despite this, Starscream kept coming back and trying to kill Megatron, and Lugnut spent the rest of the night repeatedly throwing his corpse into a river. {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}}

When Lugnut later detected an AllSpark fragment, Megatron sent him to retrieve it, partially to be rid of his sycophantic subject for a while. Discovering it in a garbage truck, Lugnut believed it was being transported by a human. He was thus surprised when the truck transformed into a robot named [[Wreck-Gar (Animated)|Wreck-Gar]]. The simple-minded robot soon confused poor Lugnut with his habit of mirroring what was being said to him, and then responded to the threatened use of the Punch of Kill Everything on a pair of Autobots with the [[universal greeting]]... and a high-five.

Despite the premature detonation, Lugnut was left unharmed, but grew increasingly impatient with Wreck-Gar's lack of comprehension. Attempting to attack the Autobots, he took off in plane mode with Wreck-Gar still on his back. However, when Wreck-Gar caused his tail/mace to become infected with matter-eating microbots, Lugnut panicked and demanded that Wreck-Gar get the microbots off him. Arriving through the [[Space Bridge]], [[Spike Witwicky|Spike]] and [[Carly]] come under fire from [[Shockwave]], but he only succeeds in disintegrating Carly's car. Fleeing through [[Decepticon Headquarters (Cybertron)|Decepticon Headquarters]], the two humans manage to take refuge inside a small hole in a computer. Carly attempts to work the machine, but is hit by a surge of electricity and falls into a nearby pit, damaging the computer, but also twisting her ankle in the process. [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] contacts Shockwave and orders him to send [[Cybertonium]] before the [[Decepticon]]s die, but Carly's tinkering has left the Space Bridge is non-functional.

After escaping the computer, Spike and Carly are guided to [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]]'s old lab by [[Sparkplug Witwicky|Sparkplug]], using [[Teletraan I]]. They meet up with [[Swoop (G1)|Swoop]], who explains that the Dinobots were captured by the Decepticons and taken to the [[Cybertonium Pit]]. The three are guided by Sparkplug to a [[mass transit system]]. Unfortunately, the tube carrying their car is damaged, and they can no longer communicate with Sparkplug. Deep underground, the three are nearly killed when they activate old defense systems. Swoop saves the day, but his wings are damaged.

Reaching the surface, they find an abandoned city, which has clearly seen better days. Carly discovers a records room, with datatrack which explains the history of the [[Great War|terrible war between the Autobots and Decepticons]]. Swoop says that he never knew the war had gone on for so long, but are soon captured by a [[Sentinel (G1)|Sentinel]].

Taken to the Cybertonium Pit, they discover that Shockwave altered the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]]s' [[memory circuit]]s, making them think they're loyal to the Decepticons. Carly is able to repair their memory circuits, and the Dinobots thank Carly and Spike for rescuing them (except [[Slag (G1)|Slag]], of course). Now that the Dinobots are themselves, Spike comes up with an escape plan. He and [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] start arguing, so the Sentinel decides to remove the humans. When the force field surrounding them comes down, the Dinobots destroy the drones. The Dinobots take the kids to an access tube, and Grimlock carries them up.

Meanwhile, Sparkplug sends a message to Cybertron, saying that he has managed to direct the space bridge to land outside the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot base]]. Shockwave contacts Megatron, saying that he has sufficient Cybertonium, and the Space Bridge is repaired, but that he has lost control of the destination site. Having overheard this, the Dinobots overwhelm Shockwave, and although Shockwave is able to hit Swoop, the Dinobots and humans manage to escape back to Earth with a shipment of Cybertonium.

At the Autobot base, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] awards Spike and Carly with medals, making them "honorary Autobots". Grimlock decides to follow the [[Prime (rank)|Autobot leader]]'s orders, and the Dinobots rejoin the [[Autobot]]s...until Grimlock no longer feels like following Prime's orders.

*At the end of Part 1, Shockwave fires (with two guns!) into the opening Space Bridge elevator door, triggering a huge explosion. At the opening of this episode, however, he's just standing there when the elevator doors open. He fires a ray that vaporizes Carly's car out from under its two human passengers, but doesn't cause any human-eviscerating explosions.

*Incidentally, the ability to vaporize an entire automobile's worth of mass would seem to be a pretty useful power for an evil robot, but it's never seen outside of this episode's opening sequence.

*Spike has got to be some kind of superhuman; he lifts a metal gun that's bigger than he is!

As an armored car leaves a bank in the dead of night, the [[Angry Archer]] robs it and makes his escape from the cops on a fire engine, thinking the police won’t stop a firetruck heading to a fire. It’s the Archer’s mistake, however, because he's hitched a ride on the back of [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]]. Prime, playing hero, subdues the thief easily and smiles for evening news cameras.

Elsewhere, [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] observes a cat stalking a bird and finds it amazing, only to have his nature watch cut short by awestruck humans and camera-bots. He heads back huffily to the new Autobot headquarters, an abandoned car factory. The other [[Autobot]]s are in the middle of installing the world’s largest flat-panel TV in their new home and sharing their views on their newfound stardom. Prowl returns upset with the constant interruptions and goes to his Japanese-decorated room. In his room, Prowl lectures Optimus on his fascination with the Earth's animals, only to have that cut short with [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]]'s antics. Annoyed again, Prowl leaps off into a tree.

Meanwhile, [[Sari Sumdac|Sari]] tries to enter her father's private lab. She uses her All Spark key to open the door, but [[Isaac Sumdac|Professor Sumdac]] leaves with her before she can enter more than a step or two, reminding her no one but him is allowed in there. Residual energy from the key floats over and reactivates the head of [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]. As his higher functions take control, the horrified Megatron discovers that he is without a body and is hardwired into some sort of primitive computer. As he searchs for answers, he brings up video footage of the last battle between the Autobots and [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]], including the latter’s confession of sabotaging his leader. Megatron is understandably ticked, and not just at Starscream's betrayal, but on the sheer helplessness of his situation. Not only do the [[Decepticon]]s believe that he is dead, meaning there is no hope of rescue, but the [[All Spark (Animated)|All Spark]] is finally within his reach, and he lacks the hands to take it! While lamenting his lack of a body, he discovers his new power to control machines around him. Picking up a discarded, miniature robot, Megatron decides that it's time to get...proactive.

After trashing her [[Tutor Bot]] using the All Spark key, Sari tells Prof. Sumdac she is leaving to the Autobot base for a slumber party. Overhearing this, Megatron sends one of Isaac's [[pocketbot]]s to hide in her backpack so he can search the base for the All Spark.

At the Autobot base, Prowl watches a nature show about caterpillars evolving into butterflies, which he finds fascinating. Bumblebee, of course, isn't interested and changes the channel on him. Annoyed yet again, Prowl pounces on Bumblebee like a cat to prove what he has learned from animals before leaping to a high point to meditate. Later, Bumblebee and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] play high-tech Twister™ with much difficulty; Bumblebee then challenges Prowl to try. Prowl jumps in and easily touches all the spots Sari announces. Having won the game, he leaves to his room. Disgusted that the Autobots could ever get their hands on the All Spark, Megatron uses the pocketbot to begin searching.

Sari then tells ghost stories to the rest of the Autobots and, with a little help from her All Spark key, succeeds in scaring Bumblebee. Meanwhile, since the pocketbot's search for the All Spark has proven fruitless, Megatron decides to kill the Autobots and extract info on its location from their lifeless shells. He takes control of the assembly line robots and uses pincers, riveters, a big electromagnet and a die press to pummel the Autobots. Prowl shows up and realizes that the machines are detecting the Autobots by use of motion sensors. He instructs everyone to be still, then strike in order to get to the control panel. However, while the motion sensors can't see him, Megatron can, so he gets caught by the machines as well. With [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] injured, the only bot left free to move is Bumblebee, who manages to listen Prowl long enough to outrace the machines and destroy the control panel.

In a parting gesture, Megatron cuts open a fuel tank perilously close to a fire, but the Autobots team up and launch it into the sky, where it explodes harmlessly. As they wonder who tried to kill them, they discover the pocketbot under Megatron's control, but Bulkhead accidentally smashes it after catching it before they can study it.

Back at the lab, Megatron has a fit over his loss and decides to reveal more Cybertronian technology to Sumdac in order to get a new body.

* When the Angry Archer turns around to notice he's being followed by police cars, the bags of money he'd just tied to his waist are nowhere to be seen. They're back in other shots, though.

* Sari says "Right foot on green." during the Twister™ game. The only problem is there are no green spaces in the next shot, just purple, orange and yellow. (After that shot, they seem to appear as normal.) At the end of the episode, the problem is reversed--there are no yellow spaces, but there are green ones.

Some people are team players, and some...well, aren't. '''Prowl''' falls into the latter category. A loner at heart, he has no interest in teamwork, something [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] finds extremely frustrating. Added to that is his personality conflict with the fun-loving Bumblebee. All in all, not the most sociable guy in the world.

Still, he's not without his redeeming features. He has a deep, deep fascination with organic lifeforms. In fact, he seems to have a deeper appreciation of them then those who grew up with them. The phrase "stop and smell the roses" is a life truth for Prowl, and he can spend hours motionless, watching life play out around him.
