:''Bonecrusher is a [[Decepticon]] from the [[Movie (franchise)|Movie]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:MovieBonecrusher.jpg|right|thumb|300px|He was a sk8ter boi, she said see ya later boy.]]

'''Bonecrusher''' is a Transformer that can be described with one word: Hate. Bonecrusher hates this wiki. Bonecrusher hates the fact that his toy is so small. Bonecrusher even hates amusingly appropriate Avril Lavigne quotes. Basically Bonecrusher hates everything and everyone, particularly buses, and lives for the day when all of creation is crushed and destroyed beneath his feet. If anyone tries to befriend him (with the possible exception of folks from Force Protection, as noted below), he will have nothing to do with them. His overwhelming anger and hatred extends even to his fellow Decepticons, including [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] himself. Only fear of Megatron keeps him on their side. Plus, he ''really'' hates the [[Autobot]]s.

Were you to ask if there was anything he didn't hate, he might tell you that he hates it when people ask that. More likely, though, he'd just grind your torso into a fine powder. The hatred of Bonecrusher isn't a quiet, brooding, sulking, thing nor a whiny [[Dropkick |Emo]] sort of hate. His hatred is of the [[Galvatron (G1)|explosive, violently psychotic]] sort, and the only thing that soothes his twisted [[spark]] is to sneer at the mangled remains of those he destroyed.

He transforms into a Buffalo mine clearing vehicle used by the military. It is made exclusively in South Carolina and the drivers routinely use it to drive to the local Taco Bell/Pizza Hut. He hates drivers, the mine clearing vehicle, the drive-thrus, and South Carolina. He loves tacos, however.

===''Ghosts of Yesterday''===

Bonecrusher was aboard the crew of the ''[[Nemesis (Movie)|Nemesis]]'', led by [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], who were searching for Megatron, who was lost thousands of years ago, along with the [[All Spark]]. He hated the ''Nemesis'', but would hate trying to walk home more. He also hated the All Spark, but Megatron wanted it, so he decided not to complain. Finally, he hated Starscream, but all the other Decepticons do as well, making it something he has in common with his fellow Decepticons. He hated that.

Bonecrusher was picked to lead an assault on the ''[[Ark (Movie)|Ark]]''. His only response to the command was a growl, but he dislikes being in charge, as his only strategy in combat is to violently charge the enemy and rip them apart with his bare hands. Everyone else uses their stupid [[weapon|gun]]s, and Bonecrusher is a terrible shot. After [[Blackout (Movie)|Blackout]] had his [[exhaust port]] handed to him for challenging Starscream, Bonecrusher had to drag him back to the ''Nemesis''. Bonecrusher would have preferred to leave him to rot. During the subsequent fight, Bonecrusher has to fight [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]], and managed to dent his armor. However, Bonecrusher does demand answers from Starscream when Blackout demands information on why the Decepticon leader wanted to destroy [[Ghost 1|an alien vessel]], cause damn it, even Bonecrusher needs reasons to kill (well, not really, he was just getting fed up with Starscream). Bonecrusher was forced to drag Starscream back to the ''Nemesis'' when he was injured by the alien ship. He hates being a courier. {{Storylink|Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday}}

===Titan Magazines===

Bonecrusher is known and feared by Autobots for never giving up. He almost killed [[Jazz (Movie)|Jazz]] once and pursued him & his comrade [[Clocker (Movie)|Clocker]] for ages - because Bonecrusher hates nice-looking shiny robots (or nice-looking ''anythings'') and deliberately destroys them. As he says, "I figure, why should they look so nice... when I look like ''this!''", showing he hates even himself. Clocker covered Jazz's retreat and tried to fight Bonecrusher, who hated that and killed him. {{storylink|Transformers comic issue 6}}

===''Transformers'' Movie Prequel (Target)===

[[Image:Movie_BarricadeBonecrusher_protoforms.jpg|thumb|left|Bonecrusher's pre-[[Earth]] body. Bonecrusher hates retro-designs.]]

Bonecrusher was a member of Starscream's unit that was keeping [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]'s reinforcements out of [[Tyger Pax]]. When [[Brawl (Movie)|Brawl]] arrived with news of Megatron and the All Spark, Bonecrusher insisted that they move on as they had already killed all the Autobots in the area. He then demanded that Brawl take them to Megatron or he would kill them all. Witnessing the launch of the All Spark, [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]] commented that [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] would die, but Bonecrusher replied that they should let it die, and that Barricade should join it in death. After Starscream and Blackout settled their differences, the group headed after Megatron.

The Decepticons made planetfall on [[Earth]] in Afghanistan, quickly attracting the attention of a nearby [[United States Military|US military]] base, which sent out an armoured personnel carrier to investigate. Bonecrusher declared his satisfaction in finally having something to kill, but this chance was snatched away when [[Wreckage (Movie)|Wreckage]] scanned the vehicle and destroyed it. He hated when that happened. Hitting the US airbase, Bonecrusher easily killed the humans before scanning a Buffalo mine-clearance vehicle and complaining that there weren't enough lifeforms to kill. {{Storylink|Transformers Movie Prequel (Target) Volume 2}}

'''Note:''' ''In the panel were the Decepticons react to the arrival of the armoured personnel carrier, it is likely that Bonecrusher's speech bubble regarding the military base was actually meant for Wreckage (as the latter was the one who tracked the base location), and that Brawl was incorrectly given Bonecrusher's own speech bubble about killing things. On the last page, Bonecrusher's speech bubble asking Starscream if it was going to be easy is clearly meant for Barricade, as that is who Starscream responds to. Bonecrusher ''hates'' ventriloquism.''

While hiding in a military base, Bonecrusher came under attack by the humans twice, and required assistance from Starscream to escape. He hates needing help from people, especially from people he hates.

He is playable on PSP multi.
:''Voice actor:'' [[Jimmie Wood]] (English)

[[Image:Movie_Bonecrusher_carflip.jpg|left|thumb|He hates the sundown slowdown.]]

Bonecrusher was hiding out in the motor pool of a military base when he received a communique from Starscream ordering the Decepticons to to mobilize and converge on the location of the All Spark. He rendezvoused with [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]] and [[Brawl (Movie)|Devastator]], and the three Decepticons headed off together to intercept the Autobots and their human allies who had the All Spark in their possession.

[[Image:Movie_Bonecrusher_face.jpg|thumb|right|Bonecrusher, like most celebs, hates the paparazzi. He also hates closeups.]]

Devastator wandered off somewhere, so Bonecrusher and Barricade continued their pursuit on the freeway. Barricade activated his sirens to clear the traffic and allow them more maneuvering room. Unsatisfied with Barricade's less conspicuous method, and since he hated rush-hour traffic, Bonecrusher used his mine-scoop to flip cars out of his way (He kinda liked that). Surprisingly, the Autobots didn't find this out of the ordinary, and only reacted when [[Sam Witwicky|ladiesman217]] recognized Barricade and warned the Autobots. [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]], [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]], and [[ratchet (Movie)|Ratchet]] aligned to block the Decepticons from [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]], who had the All Sparks and the fleshlings.

[[Image:Big_fight.jpg|left|thumb|Bonecrusher loves to watch things burn. Just not himself.]]
After Barricade pulled over to the side of the road, Bonecrusher transformed while still moving and skated towards the Autobots. Optimus Prime transformed and slid into position to block his path. Seeing the Autobot he really hated (and that's saying a lot), Bonecrusher smashed through a bus (it irked him), and tackled Optimus Prime, pushing him off an overpass tumbling and falling off the edge, dragging the Autobot leader down with him.

[[Image:Movie_Bonecrusher_dies.jpg|thumb|right|Thus began (and ended) Bonecrusher's hatred of Prime's sword.]]

When they landed, he sucker-punched Optimus Prime, who then hit Bonecrusher so hard one of the Decepticon's [[optics]] popped free from its socket (he liked that eye... well, no, he didn't; he just hated not having it more.) The two played a little cat-and-mouse along the overpasses. After Prime jumped down to ground level, Bonecrusher swung his tail wildly at the Autobot, all the while screaming incoherently. This gave Optimus the opportunity he needed to get his sword ready... which the Autobot leader used to cleave Bonecrusher's right arm and run through the Decepticon's neck, nearly severing it. Optimus then wrenched Bonecrusher's head from its neck and tossed it aside.

Bonecrusher hates his movie role. {{Storylink|Transformers (2007)}}
===Toy Bio===
Despite all appearances, Bonecrusher managed to escape after his encounter with Optimus Prime (missing his head? beaten to a pulp?), and went to hide out in the South American jungle. He ''hates'' camping.

: Bonecrusher transforms into a [[wikipedia:Buffalo_%28mine_protected_vehicle%29|Buffalo mine-protected vehicle]], with an articulated "mine-fork" for removing mines or cars or robots or unsuspecting buildings from his path. The fork can change from its packaged "Grabber claw" configuration into a more fork/shovel like configuration, a fact not stated on the instructions. He has six rolling wheels in this mode, and two sculpted, non-functional spare wheels.

: In robot mode he has elements resembling both his 2005 design and the final design used in the movie, though a major deviation to both designs is that the entire front shell halves of the vehicle mode are mounted upon his arms. His arms have limited articulation due to this [[kibble]], but can extend out into '''really''' long arms. His legs fare better, with ball jointed hips, swivel knees and ankles, but his hips can often detach from the codpiece holding them together. The mine-fork splits to form a grabber-claw, which can snap onto victims with a geared slider [[Automorph]] mechanism. He is surprisingly okay with these little tools of death.

: He is named "Bonescrusher" on the Canadian [[cross-sell]]. Guess how Bonecrusher feels about ''that'' little mispelling.
*'''Ironhide vs Bonecrusher''' (2007)

[[Image:Rhboneiron.jpg|left|thumb|250px|Bonecrusher is actually pretty glad that he doesn't come with sword-wielding ''RH'' Prime.]]

:Bonecrusher comes packaged with the impressively-armed [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]]. He is depicted lunging forward on his roller-skate feet, presumably to deliver an extremely enthusiastic hug. This figurine is notorious for not actually being able to stand up on its feet very well, usually requiring one of its hands to be used for balance. Also, he's got some kind of a sneering grin, making him look almost happy, even if it's an evil happy.

Bonecrusher really, '''''REALLY''''' hates his ''Robot Heroes'' toy.

{{-}}

==Trivia==
[[image:PhotoshopedBuffalo.PNG|250px|thumb|*''Giant fork and Decepticon insignia not included with the real Buffalo.'' Bonecrusher hates those disclaimers.]]

* The real Buffalo mine-sweeping vehicle hasn't in fact, such a huge fork. It is only 14 inches (35 cm) wide. The image that inspired Bonecrusher's design was actually a Photoshopped image put on the official Force Protection company's site to make it look more impressive[http://www.forceprotection.net/models/buffalo/]. A 10-foot-wide (3 m) appliance had to be fixed on Bonecrusher's arm for the movie. He hated that.[http://enewsi.com/news.php?catid=190&itemid=11213]

* Force Protection really, really loves Bonecrusher and that he has picked their Buffalo as its alt mode. They are actually quite proud of it.[http://www.forceprotection.net/news/transformers.html] Bonecrusher is not sure what to think about that.

* Bonecrusher's toy was used as a prop for a CNN Headline News report demonstrating the real Buffalo vehicle's mine-sweeping arm.[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maAWP2uVd7M] He hates the Lincoln Memorial.

* It's a matter of debate whether or not Bonecrusher actually said anything intelligible in English during his brief appearance in the finished film, or whether he is talking in [[Cybertronian languages|Cybertronian]]. At various points in his fight with Optimus Prime, he does emit some garbled roars that ''might'' be English. However, there is little agreement among viewers as to whether he said anything at all, much less ''what'' he supposedly said. For what it's worth, the subtitles saying nothing on his speech, and the closed captions say that he is just "roaring". His only subtitled line is "Bonecrusher rolling." It could just be that he hates speaking coherently. Kinda makes you wonder why nobody has thought to contact [[Jimmie Wood]] and ''ask'' him just what the [[Slag (slang)| Slag]] he was saying.

* Bonecrusher is Michael Bay's favorite character from the film, despite his limited screentime—so much so that Bay named his new dog after him. Although the Decepticons are generally [[Ravage|cat]] people, Bonecrusher hates cats, so he is quite flattered. He still hates Bay for the small screen time he gets, though.

* According to the DVD commentary, Bonecrusher's sequences were particularly difficult for [[ILM]] to do at first. The solution came from videotaping employees rollerblading at speed in the parking lot, and a pair of fighting experts going through the motions wanted for Bonecrusher and Prime, then using that footage as references. And Bonecrusher hates it when nobody knows how he fights.

* Last but not least, Bonecrusher hates you. Yeah, you. You know who you are. Don't try to pretend you don't know, either. Bonecrusher hates ignorance.

In 2006, for all that its worth, he was charged with bringing [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s [[transformation cog]] to [[Earth]]. To accomplish the task Wheelie was paired with fast-talking [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]]. Galvatron soon stranded them on Io, that villainous cur! Attacked by [[lipole]]s, things began to look grim. But then [[Marissa Faireborn]] and [[Sky Lynx]] came to rescue them! With the cog at last delivered, Metroplex came alive. He thrashed [[Trypticon]] and that Decepticon took a dive!

By 2010, Wheelie was too petulant to rhyme. He blamed everything on [[Chromedome]], like, ''all'' of the time. Although a jerk to the core, Wheelie was not all alone. He hung out with [[Daniel Witwicky|Daniel]] and the two were quite danger-prone.

At one point, at a party he had too much to drink. He got drunk and passed out, that adorable rat-fink.
[[Image:DanielWheelie.jpg|thumb|Wheelie knows of many joys, best of all is supple young boys!]]

Shortly after the defeat of [[Scorponok (G1)|Mega Zarak]], [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundblaster]] showed up and began to attack! Wheelie, unprepared, took a kick right to the face. Soundblaster got all up in his grill, saying "Bitch! Know your place!" When [[Slugfest]] and [[Overkill]], took hostage [[Carly]] and [[Spike Witwicky|Spike]], [[Daniel Witwicky|Daniel]] went berserk and started to strike! Sending the Cassette dinosaurs running back home, Soundblaster was left open to an attack from [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]]. As the Autobots left Earth, Wheelie and Daniel said "Goodbye". They huggled and they snuggled and the reader just screamed "WHY!?!"

''None too far did Wheelie roam - still, he called [[Quintessa|Quintesson]] his home. For Rodimus Prime he was quite the spy, he liked to report on what the local would try. Wreck-Gar's rescue was his claim to fame, then he helped the Junkions spoil the Quints' good name.''
Although [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] promised peace to one and all, Wheelie was smart and for that ruse he did not fall. He joined a team along with [[Gnaw]], his [[Sharkticon]] pet. Together they strived to unveil Shockwave's evil threat.

[[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] joined their side, but Wheelie thought him a brute. In retaliation, he bit the [[Supreme Commander]]'s boot.

Believe it or not, just like in Japan, Wheelie did not rhyme once, much to the joys of many a fan.

With [[Doctor Fujiyama the Famous Scientist|Dr. Fujiyama]] in tow, the Autobots were quite screwed. It seems a legion of [[Nightbird]]s were in a terrible mood! With Wheelie injured thanks to a shot in the back, scar-faced Daniel realized the villains would cut them no slack. Prepared to die to stop the evil hordes, Wheelie told Daniel these few final words: "Through all our lives, I've been your friend. But now it's time for this to end."
: Wheelie's transformation does not go very far, he turns into a generic "futuristic car". Surprisingly enough, the fans' fancy he tickles, as he's the only new mold of the third-year [[Mini Vehicles]].
==Trivia==
*In the first commercial where Wheelie appears, his voice didn't sound anywhere near! Although the actor was very much the same, much deeper and darker Wheelie's voice came. ===Generation 1===
* '''Hot Rod''' (Autobot Car, 1986/2000/2002)
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''C-78'''

[[Image:Rodimusmajor.jpg|200px|right|thumb|This is totally what automobiles will look like in the far-flung future of 2005.]]

: Hot Rod was one of the first toys designed specifically for the ''Transformers'' toyline, versus being an imported pre-existing toy. Designer [[Floro Dery]] created Hot Rod for the animated film and then the toy was created from his model sheet. (The model sheet would be altered further after the toy was completed.) Hot Rod transforms from a robot into a "futuristic" hot rod sportscar based on the Nissan Dome Zero racecar designed in 1978. His robot mode bears some resemblance to Bandai's [http://www.robot-japan.com/Gallery/Bandai/SOC/GX23/Zambot-soc.asp Super Robot Zanbo Ace] and may have been partially inspired by it. The toy comes with two rifles. There are two versions of this toy; initial releases have die-cast (unpainted) metal feet, while later shipments use black plastic.

: In 2000, [[Takara]] re-released the Hot Rod toy, having had to retro-[[retool]] it from the [[Targetmaster]] release. In 2002, [[Hasbro]] released it as part of the Toys 'R' Us [[exclusive]] [[Commemorative Series]] line as '''Rodimus Major'''. Both versions use die-cast metal for his feet.

: The same mold is used by [[Black Rodimus (G1)|Black Rodimus]].

* '''Rodimus Prime''' (Autobot Hero, 1986/2004)
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''C-77'''

[[Image:G1_RodimusPrime_toy.jpg|thumb|left|200px|Try campin' out in this]]

: Rodimus Prime was designed in much the same way as Hot Rod. Rodimus transforms from a robot and battle platform into a futuristicky Winnebago camper. The toy comes with a "Photon eliminator" rifle and two blast shields to attach to either side of his battle platform's cannon. (The yellow spoiler was also to be removed and replaced during transformation.) Like Hot Rod, there are materials variations; initial releases have metal toes with rubber tires, while latter shipments replaced both with black plastic.

: The metal-toes/rubber-ties version of the toy saw re-release in both Japan and the US in 2004.

: This mold was later redecoed as a lucky draw prize [[Primus]].

* '''Hot Rod w/ Firebolt''' (Targetmaster, 1987/2004)
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''C-110''', '''TFC-13'''

[[Image:G1_TMHotRod_toy.jpg|thumb|right|200px|]]

: Hot Rod was re-released with his new [[Nebulan]] [[Targetmaster]] partner [[Firebolt (G1)|Firebolt]] a year after the original release. The toy was [[retool]]ed to have larger pegholes in his fists and his engine block so the Targetmaster gun would fit. Latter versions of this toy retooled his lower legs to minimize the scraping of his thigh decals.

: Takara reissued Targetmaster Hot Rod in 2004 as sort of an "ultimate" version, with metal toes (the original versions all used plastic) and the twin rifles from the non-Targetmaster version.

{{-}}

* '''Star Convoy w/ Hot Rodimus''' (Autobot, 1991/2005)
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''C-372'''

[[Image:Hotrodmicromaster.jpg|80px|left|thumb|Shrinkage!]]

: Available only with [[Optimus Prime (G1)#Battlestars: Return of Convoy (Japan-only)|Star Convoy]], Hot Rod's [[Micromaster]] form is a simplified version of his original toy, transforming into the same futuristic race car. In 2005, Star Convoy was re-released with several deco changes; among them, the decals used on Hot Rod were changed to [[paint applications]].

{{-}}

*'''Crystal Rodimus''' (Autobot Car, 2001)
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''C-78C'''

: One of the earliest [[e-Hobby]] exclusives, "Crystal" Rodimus uses the reissue Hot Rod mold, but cast almost entirely in transparent plastics. He was availbale only in a set with the evil clone [[Black Rodimus (G1)|Black Rodimus]].

===Classics===
*'''Rodimus''' (Deluxe, 2006)
[[Image:Rodimusclassics.jpg|200px|left|thumb|This is maybe what cars will look like in 2026? Who knows.]]

: ''[[Classics (2006)|Classics]]'' Rodimus is a sleeker, more streamlined version of the original, now transforming into a heavily-altered Dome Zero, a [http://www.supercarnet.jp/File/File-Japan/File-Dome.htm futuristic race car from 1978]. His rear-mounted thruster engine becomes a hand-held weapon in robot mode, launching a spring-loaded missile. His left arm also hides a flip-out "comm unit" that is clearly supposed to be the buzzsaw he used for a brief period in [[The Transformers: The Movie (1986)|the Movie]].

: In a twist of delicious buttery fandom irony, Classics Rodimus has elements that were introduced in his [[Rodimus (Energon)|''Energon'' namesake]], making him a somewhat backwards-[[homage]]. His face also appears to take visual cues from how he was drawn by [[Derek Yaniger]] in the [[Generation 2 (Marvel comic)|''Generation 2'' comic book]].

: ''Titanium'' Rodimus is a 3 inch tall, non-transforming, die-cast metal figuerine. He has limited articulation, localized in his head, shoulders and waist. His gun (which looks an ''awful'' lot like Firebolt) is also removable. Excitement!

: ''Titanium Cybertron Heroes'' Rodimus Prime is a mostly die-cast metal transforming toy based loosely upon the original ''Generation 1'' Rodimus Prime toy. He features much greater articulation and bulkier body proportions.

: Unlike the original toy which separated into a robot and a battle station, the entire vehicle mode of the 6-inch ''Titanium'' version transforms into the robot mode. As with ''[[Classics (2006)|Classics]]'' Rodimus, ''Titanium'' Rodimus Prime takes some visual cues from the ''[[Energon (franchise)|Energon]]'' version of the character in addition to the original toy and the animation model... ''and'' the actual ''Classics'' Rodimus toy, such as the engine-block dickie.

: ''[[Kiss Players]]'' Hot Rodimus is a retool and redeco of the ''[[Alternators]]'' [[Mirage]] toy, transforming into a red Ford GT. His engine becomes a pair of pistols that double as tonfa weapons, and his fishing rod can be taken apart and reassembled to create a triple-barreled arm-mounted blaster reminiscent of the original Hot Rod's exhaust pipe weapons. His new head sculpt includes a retractable visor patterned after the one used in the movie.

:The toy also included a PVC figurine of the character's "Kiss Player" partner [[Shaoshao Li]] and a bamboo dumpling steamer.

===Alternators===
*'''Rodimus''' (Alternators, 2007)

: ''[[Alternators]]'' Rodimus is an exclusive figure, confirmed for SDCC in July 2007. It is a repaint of Kiss Players Hot Rodimus, which itself is a remold of Alternators [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]]. The figure uses the head mold introduced in the Kiss Players figure, and appears to retain the visor. The deco has been altered by changing the side striping from white to yellow, while the stripes over the hood, roof and trunk have been eliminated altogether, with a Hot Rod-style flame graphic now adorning the hood and front guards. Most of the Kiss Player deco remain in robot mode, including the yellow hands and flame graphics on the forearms, however promotional images show the license plates (located at the knees in robot mode) have been changed to read "TOO HOT". Rodimus' weapons are the dual pistols/tonfa seen with both Mirage and Hot Rodimus, however it is currently not known whether Rodimus will include his Kiss Player counterpart's fishing rod/eliminator.

[[Image: Pinkrod.jpg|right|thumb|What do you want to do tonight, Brain?]]

* The original Hot Rod toy was initially cast in a pinker plastic similar to the color of his animation model. For unknown reasons, this was later changed to a decidedly less [[show-accuracy|show-accurate]] red before release, but the earlier version of the toy is visible in the original 1986 Hasbro toy catalogue, and the televised [[Sharkticon]] toy advert.
In a past life, it is very possible that '''Vortex''' was a rollercoaster of some sort. :''Megatron is a [[Predacon]], a [[Vehicon]], and a [[Decepticon]] in the [[Beast Era]] portion of the [[Generation 1]] [[continuity family]]. He's a busy villain. Yessss.''

[[Image:Megatronbw.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Next person to make a Barney joke gets this tail/weapon shoved deep somewhere uncomfortable. Yessssss.]]

'''Megatron''' has one goal -- restoring glory and power to the Predacon race, with himself at the helm. What distinguishes Megatron from the countless others who share this goal is his chutzpah. He is willing to risk everything — time, space, himself — if need be.

Megatron is skillful at orchestrating vast schemes by manipulating others into doing them for him -- an idle suggestion here, a conspicuously-planted object of interest there. He knows his enemies inside and out and exactly how to provoke them. He has no friends, only pawns. Because of this attitude, this superiority complex, he despises working with the very troops he needs to carry out his plans. His hubris does not make him very popular, and so he must rely on power and fear to rule them.

Megatron is a gambler and can sometimes be a ham. (His manner of saying "Yesss..." is practically vaudevillian.) He has a twisted sense of humor and an over-developed sense of drama which rule everything he conceives, both long and short term. When he destroys you, he wants you to know that it was he who did this, and just how badly you were had. This is his greatest weakness. Like a Bond villain, he'll gladly boast to the hero at length about how smart and clever he was, giving his victim time to formulate a counterattack (he admits the Predacons sometimes gloat too much). He often sabotages himself by neglecting the quick and easy solutions for the bigger, meaner, and more complex.

Prior to the signing of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], Megatron was a field commander in the Predacon army, where he learned much about strategy and tactics. Upon ratification of peace with the [[Maximal Imperium]] most Predacons laid down their arms. Megatron refused and went rogue.
On planet [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Megatron once disagreed with [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] over opinions on galactic conquest, and engaged him in battle over it. At the time, Megatron momentarily let his guard down, and was defeated. Galvatron declared "Your era is over, Megatron!"

Later, Megatron noted that while Galvatron was ambitious, he cared for his underlings - and although he was loathe to admit it, he acknowledged that Galvatron probably had all the regal bearing of a new [[Emperor of Destruction]]. {{storylink|Beast Wars II catalog}}
After stealing the [[Golden Disk]] ''(wrongly drawn as the [[Alien Disk]])'', Megatron broke into [[Vector Sigma]] along with [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] and reviewed historical files on many of the Autobots and Decepticons from the [[Generation 1]] era. He told Dinobot to refer to him henceforth as Megatron. {{storylink|Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #8}}
[[Image:Megatronbwsuit.jpg|thumb|150px|Megatron's technicolor dreamcoat. Yessss...]]
On Cybertron, Megatron wore removable transformable armor, which transformed into a missile-launching armored platform, over his basic bodyframe (which transforms into a hovertank). This quickly-discarded outer shell was possibly used to comply with the ratification of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], which required Predacons to lay down their arms. A Predacon field commander before the peace, Megatron refused to comply with these new regulations and struck out on his own to destroy the [[Maximal Imperium]].

With some [[Cryotek|help]] from [[Divebomb (G1)|various sources]], he assembled a crew of ragtag criminals and miscreants for the purpose of stealing the Golden Disk and using it to find [[Earth]]. Succeeding in stealing the disk, he, [[Dinobot (BW)|his lieutenant]], and [[Scorponok (BW)|another accomplice]] fought their way out of the [[Archives]], eliminating [[Unit 1|one guard]] and dodging [[Tigatron|another]]. They were swiftly picked up by the ''[[Darksyde]]'', a ship stolen by the rest of their crew.

Megatron instructed [[Tarantulas]] to study the disk for the coordinates of Earth while the ''Darkside'' battled its several pursuers. Although they were followed by the Maximal ships [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']] and the ''[[Chromia 10]]'', the ''Darksyde''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s mission was also aided by a third ship crewed by the Predacon agents [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] and [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]]. Though the ''Chromia 10'' and the Predacon ship were destroyed, the ''Darksyde'' was still followed by the ''Axalon''. Megatron removed his transformable armor and patched a video feed through to the ''Axalon'''s captain, [[Optimus Primal]]. Declaring himself the leader of the Predacons, Megatron opened a [[transwarp]] portal through which both ships travelled. {{storylink|Dawn of Future's Past}}
After stealing the Maximal relic, the [[Golden Disk]], and [[Darksyde|a ship]], he and his crew were followed through a [[transwarp]] portal by the [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']]. After crashing on a planet that was supposed to be [[Earth]], yet seemingly wasn't, both the [[Maximal]]s and the Predacons took organic beast forms to protect themselves against the massive amount of Energon radiation. Megatron now transformed into a purple ''Tyrannosaurus rex''.

Dinobot chastised Megatron, accusing him of leading the Predacons to the wrong planet and challenged Megatron for leadership of the Predacons. Megatron simply ignored the challenge and had Scorponok dispose of him. {{storylink|Beast Wars, Part 1}}

Despite the loss of a formidable crony, Megatron positioned himself on the new world and the "Beast Wars" began. Being on a world filled with Energon allowed [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] to find a superhorde, and power himself to great levels. With this power, Terrorsaur was able to demolish Megatron in battle and take over the Predacons. However, through the Maximals' actions, the superhorde was destroyed. Terrorsaur was eventually ridden of his newfound power and returned to an angered Megatron, who was rebuilt by [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]]. {{storylink|Power Surge}}

[[Image:Megatronbwtrex.jpg|150px|thumb|Ah, today is a beautiful day to be out stomping on things! Yessss...]]
Again, Terrorsaur tried to usurp Megatron, this time using an apparently-turned [[Rattrap]], who used a device to paralyze Megatron. The Predacons argued over who would be leader, but agreed to put Rattrap and Megatron away for the time being. Megatron was able to easily escape using his secret voice commands, leaving Rattrap to his fate. Revealing himself to have escaped, Megatron allowed Terrorsaur to lead the Predacons in battle with the Maximals. Terrorsaur failed miserably, showing his ineptitude to the Predacons, which was Megatron's plan all along. {{storylink|Double Jeopardy}}

Megatron later formulated a plan to get off Earth. First, he had the other Predacons act dissatisfied with his leadership, causing a battle that apparently destroyed the Predacons, using a Maximal spy camera that he was aware of to play out the trick. Then, the Maximals scavenged the ''Darksyde'' for parts to repair the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s stardrive. Dinobot discovered the deception and rushed to warn the leaving Maximals. In the scuffle, Megatron snuck aboard. In the ''Axalon'', he managed to knock out every Maximal on the ship but Rattrap, who he started crushing to death. An angered [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] woke up and threw Megatron off the ''Axalon''. However, Megatron's tail weapon was stuck in the console, causing the ''Axalon'' to crash. Again. {{storylink|Victory (Beast Wars episode)|Victory}}

Later, Megatron caught wind of the return of the [[Vok]] and called a ceasefire between the two factions, realizing he had more important things to worry about. The Vok did indeed return, and planned to destroy the planet the Transformers were on with their massive [[Planet Buster]] (cleverly disguised as the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]). Optimus Primal managed to stop the planet buster after flying close to it within a modified stasis pod. Megatron added a little surprise for Primal within the pod, though; locking the door so that Primal could not escape and was destroyed when the planet buster exploded. {{storylink|Other Voices}}

The [[quantum surge]] from the exploding planet buster bathed Megatron in quantum energies, upgrading him into a [[transmetal]]. Megatron quickly rallied his forces and attempted an all-out attack on the leader-less Maximals. Megatron and the Predacons took the upperhand in battle until a transmetal Optimus Primal (brought back online by [[Rhinox]]) saved the day. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1}}

With both factions now aware that the planet they were stranded on was really prehistoric [[Earth]], Megatron was free to put his full plan into motion. Locating the crashed [[Ark]], Megatron attempted to alter history by assassinating the unconscious [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. By doing so, he intended to ensure the defeat of the [[Autobot]]s and thus the victory of the [[Decepticon]]s and Predacons. (For unknown reasons, he showed no concern that such a drastic change to the timestream might erase his own existence.) {{storylink|The Agenda, Part 3}}

The Maximals managed to save Prime's life by having [[Teletraan-1]] repair his body while Optimus Primal kept his spark within his own structure, transforming his body into a more powerful form. The Maximals defeated Megatron and returned Prime's spark to its proper place. {{storylink|Optimal Situation}}

[[Image:Megatrontm2render.jpg|left|thumb|250px|Two Megatrons for the price of one. Yessss...]]

Megatron was not to be outdone. He managed to sneak inside the Ark (which was now the new Maximal base) and take the spark of the original Megatron, seeking to replicate the effect Optimus Prime's spark had on Primal's body. He placed his namesake's spark within his body, transforming himself into a powerful dragon. With this newfound body, Megatron was able to give Optimus Primal a sound beating, until chased away by the entire Maximal group. {{Storylink|Master Blaster}}

Megatron's next evil scheme involved the legendary Decepticon battleship, the [[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]. After finding the ship deep beneath the ocean, Megatron intended to pilot it back to the future and lay waste to the Maximals on Cybertron. {{storylink|Nemesis, Part 1}} First, however, he planned to annihilate the Ark on prehistoric Earth. Primal infiltrated the Nemesis and kept Megatron busy until Rhinox could fly a shuttlecraft through the bridge and take the Predacon out. The Nemesis crashed a second time and thus preserved history.

After returning the original Megatron's spark to its proper body, the Maximals headed back to Cybertron with the incarcerated Megatron shackled to the outside of their ship. {{Storylink|Nemesis, Part 2}}
Taking advantage of the [[Blasty Zone]] as a means of time travel (and apparently size-enhancer), Megatron journeyed to a point in history where the original Megatron had gone missing, leaving the [[Decepticon]]s without a leader. "Beast Megatron" took command of the Decepticons, leading them on a quest to collect a powerful element, [[solitarium]], from within the Earth. Beast Megatron's plans were quickly thwarted by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and a troop of time-displaced Autobots and Maximals, including [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]], [[Victory Leo]], [[Leo Prime]] and Beast Megatron's arch nemesis, [[Optimus Primal]].

Beast Megatron later discovered a large deposit of solitarium beneath [[New York City]], and along with [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], [[Smokesniper]], [[Gigant Bomb]] and [[Wingstun]], laid waste to the Big Apple. The Autobots, accompanied by [[Reverse Convoy]], arrived and dealt with Beast Megatron's forces quickly. However, Reverse Convoy revealed himself to be the original Megatron in disguise and betrayed them. Now going by the name [[Megatron (G1)#Robot Masters (Japan-only)|Rebirth Megatron]], he teamed up with Beast Megatron and the pair made trouble for the Autobot commanders. [[Image:Megatron for life.jpg|right|thumb|Whaddya mean, 'Triumph of the Will'?]]Breaking free from his constraints on the Autobot shuttle while it traveled through transwarp space, Megatron arrived back home on Cybertron well before the Maximals did. Using technology of his own devising and of [[Cryotek]]'s, he took over the entire planet, and stored the [[spark]] of every last inhabitant under his citadel. At some point in this period, Megatron became convinced that beast modes and other vestiges of the organic were an abomination that should be scoured from Cybertron, leaving only technological purity. (Whereas before he had seemed perfectly pleased with his dinosaur and dragon beast modes.) Additionally, Megatron seemed to have undergone a change. He now spoke as if a god, almost reminicent of his quotes from the Covenant of Primus. His actions were based not on the thirst for revenge on Maximals but in hopes of becoming a grand liberator for their kind. in addition where as recently as the final battle of the beast wars, he would flatten a subordinate for even mentioning "the H word" he now would keep his word even at the risk of future losses. This was a new and even madder Megatron.

When the Maximals arrived in their shuttle, they found the planet empty aside from countless [[Vehicon|mindless drones]] controlled by Megatron. Megatron's drones immediately bombarded the Maximals with [[devolving gas]] to revert their powerful [[Transmetal]] bodies to normal beast mode bodies, and they were also affected by a [[transformation lock]] virus which Megatron had used to help him conquer the planet in the first place.

Despite his best efforts, the Maximals escaped, and learned to transform again after Primal used the [[Oracle]]'s power to [[reformatting|reformat]] them. They began making short work of his Vehicons, so he removed three sparks from his collection to create [[Vehicon general]]s which could think on their feet in battle. For the generals he chose sparks of Transformers that the Maximals already knew, such that if they ever discovered the sparks' identities, they would be reluctant to destroy them: [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] became [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]], [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] became [[Tankor]], and [[Waspinator]] became [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]]. After Jetstorm was reformated into Silverbolt and Rhinox reawakened and destroyed, Megatron used the sparks of [[Obsidian (BM)|Obsidian]] and [[Strika]] to replace them.

However, Megatron still retained his own beast mode, unwilling to take the momentary risk of transfering his spark to a new body. After releasing the energies of the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] and the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]], Megatron attempted to transfer his spark to another body, but wound of stuck in [[Savage/Noble]], a purely organic creature. Eventually, Megatron would transfer his spark to the [[Grand Mal]], a vessel shaped in his own head. He attempted to consume the captured sparks, but [[Nightscream]] managed to depolarize his spark, causing it to jump between discarded shells and attack everyone in a zombie like fashion. Rattrap would use a [[spark extractor]] to repolarize his spark, allowing Megatron to regain his senses, but trapping him in a [[diagnostic drone]].

Ultimately, Megatron succeeded in capturing the sparks of all the Maximals, leaving just Optimus Primal and himself as the only two Transformers on the entire planet. At the end of a fierce one-on-one fight, in which Megatron wore a copy of the powerful Optimal Optimus body, Megatron began consuming his amassed sparks, growing ever more powerful. However, when he attempted to use the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] to transform the planet's [[organic core]] into [[technomatter]], Primal managed to dislodge them both. They plummeted into the planet's goopy core and, somehow, Primal was able to reformat the entire planet, destroying himself and Megatron completely, but freeing all the lost sparks to repopulate their newly redecorated planet.

====''Beast Wars Reborn'' text story====

Both Megatron and Optimus Primal awoke inside a bizare temple-like spaceship which was hurtling through space. Neither had any memory of who they were or how they got their, only their own names and a feeling of discomfort between one another. The pair went about investigating the ship in search of answers. While Megatron's memory was lost, his personality remained mostly intact: he was more concerned with sezing control of the ship before Primal did in order to gain the upperhand.

They eventually found a data log and discovered that their sparks had been taken and they were reborn into new bodies (unbeknownst to them, bodies identical to their original forms). However, their memories were intentionally not uploaded into their new bodies. While searching the log they discovered that the ship's main power source was a [[Golden Disk]] lodged within a giant piller. Megatron immediately raced to obtain the Disk and Primal followed him. The closer they got to the disk the more the ship attempted to thwart their advance by manipulating its atmosphere conditions.

Once they reached the chamber the ship's environment suddenly morphed to that of a decaying planet littered with the corpses of robots. The corpses came to life and began shambling toward them, intent on eating their sparks. They made short work of the zombies, leaving Megatron to obtain the Golden Disk and Primal with a feeling that he shouldn't entirely trust Megatron.

From another dimension beyond time and space, [[Primus]] recognized that something was amiss and sent one of his messengers to meet Primal and Megatron within the spaceship.

====''Universe''====
When [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]]'s spark is retrieved from the core of [[Cybertron]] to protect the multiverse, this action freed Megatron's spark as well. The reborn Megatron returned to the ranks of the Predacons, but this time, Optimus Primal found himself in an uneasy alliance with him against Unicron. Megatron traveled with his old nemesis from universe to universe, wherever the growing multiversal conflict had spread. But now with Unicron disappeared into the [[Unicron Singularity]], it remains to be seen whether Megatron's insane ambition will resurface.

Prior to the Universe Conflict an alternate dimension's Megatron was killed by a [[Razorclaw (Universe)|Tigerhawk]] who was corrupted by the Vok. Yet another dimension's Megatron was killed by it's realities [[Obsidian (Universe)|Obsidian]] and [[Tankor (Universe Decepticon)|Tankor]]. All three Megatron-murderers were eventualy promoted to the rank of [[Unicron's General]]. It seems that killing Megatron may be part of Unicron's criteria for choosing a General.
: This Megatron transformed into a purple organic Tyrannosaurus dinosaur. His dinosaur head can shoot water. In robot mode, he has no hands, as his right arm ends with his dino head, and his tail, folded into a pincer, forms his left arm. The outer shells of his dinosaur thighs conceal spring-loaded missile launchers that fire anchor-shaped projectiles.

: The third ''Beast Wars'' Megatron toy transformed into a mechanical Tyrannosaurus. In robot mode, he finally has two hands, with his tail becoming a flexible, segmented cutlass weapon, though it was depicted in most media as a new version of his main cannon. As with all ''Transmetal'' toys, he has a 'third' vehicle mode, in this case a tyrannosaurus with rollerskates and jet engines.

: Really.

: There are some color differences between this the American and Japanese versions: the American had a light purple-ish glittery plastic for the beast-mode hands, tail, and skates while the Japanese had simple light gray instead. This mold was retooled used to make [[Armada]] [[Predacon_(Armada)|Predacon]].

[[Image:BWdragonmegs_toy.jpg|left|thumb|250px|Don't call him Mushu, either.]]

: The final version of Megatron transformed into a mostly mechanical dragon. Two projectiles stored in his wings can be fired from a spring-loaded launcher inside his dragon's mouth. Additionally, another launcher is available above his helmet. His chest is dominated by a small cockpit with a control chair inside (see Trivia). Megatron's dragon neck and head replaces his left arm, the neck being made of a rubbery material with vacuum metalised overlapping plates attached on top. The neck was flexible able to be controlled and locked into position by a small lever located at its base.

: ''Transmetal 2'' Megatron has a third 'vehicle' mode, which appears to be an afterthought, as it basically involves the dragon sitting very low to the ground so the wheels mounted on the legs and body can make contact and roll.

: The first ''Beast Machines'' incarnation of Megatron is based on his ''Transmetal 2'' dragon form, but with ''Beast Machines'' design style at a lower price point. The result was a weak copy of the larger, much more detailed predecessor.

* '''Megatron''' (Kids' meal, 2000)
: The McDonald's Happy Meal Megatron was also released in Australia through the Red Rooster restaurant chain. Like the other three toys, it came in four color schemes. Strangely enough, the toy was labeled as "Nightscream" on the plastic baggy it came in.

: Beast Megatron is a simplified version of the 1996 Ultra ''Beast Wars'' Megatron. Much smaller, it had a very similar transformation and had a sculpt resembling the television series CGI model, but a paint scheme similar to the original toy. he also came with a small laser rifle.

: For the 10th Anniversary of ''Beast Wars'', [[Hasbro]] created an all-new Deluxe-size tooling based mostly upon his original 1996 Tyrannosaurus form, but with technorganic detailing. When a [[Cyber Planet Key]] is inserted into his tail, it opens up to reveal a missile launcher.

: He is also packaged with a mini-comic-sized reprinting of [[IDW Publishing]]'s ''[[The Gathering]]'' #1, a small [[Darksyde|''Darksyde'']] ship figurine, and a [[Jungle Planet]] style Cyber Planet Key ''without'' a [[Cyber Key Code]] stamped on it. On its packaging, "Predacon" is misspelled as "Preadacon," but a sticker was placed over it with the proper spelling.

:This mold was [[redeco]]ed and released as [[Cybertron (toyline)|''Cybertron'']] [[Megatron_(Armada)|Megatron]]. It's worth noting that the scuplt for both BW10 leader toys were intentionally designed to blend in with the Jungle Planet aesthetic, "in case" they didn't get a Beast Wars Anniversary release (according to [[Aaron Archer]]'s statements at [[BotCon 2005]]).

* '''Optimus Primal vs. Megatron''' (Ultra 2-pack, 2006)
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''BWR-01'''

: For the 10th Anniversary of ''Beast Wars'', [[Takara]] retooled the original 1996 Ultra-sized Megatron toy, giving him a new head sculpt and a new paint scheme based upon the appearance of the CGI model used in the ''Beast Wars'' television series.

: The 1996 Ultra-sized Optimus Primal was also retooled and redecoed in the same manner.

: Both figures were released in the US later as a 2-pack Toys-R-Us exclusive.

*'''Megatron'''
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''TM-02'''

: Just the Robot Masters Megatron done in a paint scheme like the larger version of him. The main turn on is the lack of [[Neon]] purple, in addition to it's healthy use of detail. If even the tounge is detailed well, maybe the [[Fans]] are right this time. Maybe, but [[Transformers (2007) | not]] [[Beast Wars | often]].

[[Image:BWRConcept35.jpg|right|170px|thumb|TM2 Megatron's control art. Look! Spark figure! Painful amounts of detail! Yessss...]]

*Originally, ''Transmetal 2'' Megatron, along with [[Optimus_Primal|Optimal Optimus]] and [[Tigerhawk_(BW)|Tigerhawk]] were to have small driver-like figures sitting on control chairs located in cockpits on their bodies. These drivers were meant to represent their sparks. But [[Hasbro]] then later realized that kids might confuse these spark representations as drivers controlling the robots, so they were abandoned, but the cockpits remain.
: However, the spark pilot was eventually used in the Japanese release of [[Cryotek]].

*The Japanese dub of Beast Wars chose to interject humor at every available opportunity. Due to this, Megatron's personality and character were taken on a complete U-turn. Instead of being a smooth and charismatic leader, he was a screaming maniac and a bumbling oaf. His most notable character-trait in Japan was that whenever he was fired-upon or startled he would let-out a high-pitched shriek like a '''[[Scorponok (BW)|little girl]]'''.''

*Megatron's initial basic Beast Wars toy is a [[retool]] of [[Iguanus (BW)|Iguanus]] with new alligator and robot heads, and no frill. The screw hole for the frill bracket remains. Both toys were released at roughly the same time.

*The concept art for the original Ultra class figure was largely the same, except in one minor difference: The left arm would have housed an open three clawed hand. The idea of that wouldn't be revisited until the 10th anniversary Deluxe Megatron.
:''Tigatron is a [[Maximal]] from the [[Beast Wars]] portion of the [[Generation 1]] [[continuity family]]. He was previously designated '''Unit 2'''.''

[[Image:Tigatron1.jpg|right|250px|thumb|I must kill you... because [[Primus|God]] told me to!]]

Damage to his stasis pod upon crashing to [[Earth]] caused [[Tigatron]] to emerge far more tiger than robot. A loner who is more connected to the Earth than any other [[Beast Wars|Beast Warrior]], he enjoys the planet's natural beauty and is often concerned about the damage that the Transformers' battle is doing to it. Scout, infiltrator, and sometimes programming guru, Tigatron has filled a variety of roles for the Maximals.
[[Image:Tigatrondawn.jpg|left|thumb|250px|He wasn't even supposed to be here today!]]

Tigatron was once known as Unit 2, part of the [[Maximal Command Security Force]] which protected the fragile peace that existed on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] in the centuries following the [[Pax Cybertronia]]. One of the Security Force's elite troops, Unit 2 was often put in charge of guarding important Maximal artifacts, a job that often required his amazing prowess at tracking. Despite his strong command of this environment, Unit 2 wondered if his destiny and place was elsewhere.

When the [[Golden Disk]] was stolen by a band of rogue [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]], Unit 2 responded along with Unit 1, [[Nitrostreak]]. After Nitrostreak was incapacitated, Unit 2 attempted to follow the [[Darksyde]] by commandeering the ''[[Chromia 10]]'', pursuing, along with [[Airazor (BW)|its pilot]]. During the ensuing firefight, their ship was badly damaged. [[Optimus Primal]] had their [[Spark]]s remotely uploaded to blank protoforms in the [[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'s cargohold, which saved their lives, but severely damaged their core mainframes. {{storylink|Dawn of Future's Past}}

''(This story is a [[retcon]], as Tigatron was originally treated as a newborn protoform in the ''Beast Wars'' animated series. Instead, here he is revealed to have been a Maximal who existed previously on Cybertron but ended up on the ''Axalon'' in a stasis pod, damaged to the point of not remembering any of his past.)''
:''Voice Actor:'' [[Blu Mankuma]] (US), [[Kōichi Tōchika]] (Japan)

Tigatron was born in the far frozen north, at first heavily damaged in his memory circuts and unable to remember friend from foe. In his beast mode, he patiently watched the Predacon and Maximal forces duke it out. When Megatron threatened the white tigers, and Optimus Primal conceded the fight, Tigatron knew his alliance.

His alliance established ,Tigatron became a background player, sending updates to the [[Axalon]] through communication towers and lending assistance to the Maximals when called upon. He was rarely seen inside the Maximal base, regarding artificial environments as "strange".

He and [[Cheetor]] held a strong sibling friendship. While Cheetor was youthful and eager, Tigatron was confident and wise. Cheetor called him "Big Cat" frequently.

[[Image:Airazortigatrontrigger.jpg|right|thumb|A cat and bird fall for each other. Love is truly blind.]]
Tigatron had an organic tiger friend named [[Snowstalker]], who may or may not have been the basis for his altmode. Some fans have speculated that the pair were [[Robot-fleshling romance|more than friends]], as the [[human|dumb stubbies]] say. Sadly, Snowstalker became one of the war's casualties, putting Tigatron in a funk for a short while, until he realized that doing nothing only meant more innocents would die.

Not much later, Tigatron was the first to detect a pulsing alien energy source. When [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] initiated a somewhat suspicious truce shortly afterwards, [[Optimus Primal]] ordered a covert infiltration of the Predacon base. [[Rattrap]] and [[Airazor]] made enough of a distraction to allow Tigatron inside the [[Darksyde]].

Inside, he hacked his way into the ship's computer systems and found out what got Megatron so worried - The [[Vok]] were coming back, and they weren't happy. Tigatron and the rest of the Maximals barely survived the subsequent attack of the alien [[Planet Buster]].

Tigatron and Airazor formed a very powerful relationship during this time. They both felt a strong connection to the prehistoric [[Earth]], and they frequently spent their time outside of the Maximal base in their beast forms instead. After the destruction of the Planet Buster sent dozens of stasis pods crashing to Earth, the pair set off on a voyage to find what had become of their Maximal comrades within the pods. Unfortunately, before they could discover any still-functional pods, they were abducted by a [[Metal Hunter|bizarre alien plant]].

The two were not seen again until much later, when their inert bodies were revealed to be the captives of the Vok, floating somewhere in a deep space nebula. The Vok removed their Sparks from their bodies, which were then fused into the awesomely powerful [[Vok]] emissary [[Tigerhawk]]. When the Vok influence was removed from Tigerhawk, the Sparks of Tigatron and Airazor likewise fused and entered the empty shell.

Tigatron and Airazor's sparks were sent back to Earth by the [[Vok]] sometime after [[Tigerhawk]]'s destruction. Tigatron's spark took possesion of [[Ravage]]'s former body at the bottom of a lake. Joining Transmetal Airazor and a newly-created [[Primal Prime]], Tigatron battled [[Tarantulas]] and Ravage, who had also managed to escape death.

''('''Note''': The ''Primeval Dawn'' story was never finished, so how Tigatron came to join the [[Wreckers]] (see below) is unknown.)''

=====''The Wreckers''=====
Tigatron, Primal Prime, and others arrived on Cybertron during Megatron's anti-biological reign. Various teams met with the [[Oracle]], which assigned them various tasks. When Optimus Primal objected, saying that with all these soldiers, Megatron could be defeated easily, the Oracle swept him away and cleansed his memory of the recent events. Tigatron vehemently objected to this treatment of his former commander. A set of coordinates was infused into Primal Prime's head by the Oracle. When arriving at an Autobot shuttle, which was to ferry the Wreckers to those coordinates, Tigatron felt that something was amiss. It was then that the Vehicon generals [[Spy Streak]], [[Scavenger_(BM)|Scavenger]], [[Quake]] and [[Blastcharge (BM)|Blastcharge]] attacked. Tigatron used his Nature's Fury attack, utterly destroying Quake. During the ride in the Autobot shuttle, Tigatron meditated, recovering from the battle. Upon arrived at their destination, he once again sensed that danger awaited the Wreckers...
Tigatron acted as a samurai warrior and his body reflected that. At one point, he is forced to do battle with the [[spark|spark]]-less body of his beloved [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]]. Not wishing to harm her, he willingly let the evil Airazor take the opportunity to decapitate him.

Just as evil Airazor began to strike, the spark of the real Airazor entered his body. In cyberspace, the two embrace each other and vow never to be apart again. Their sparks then merge, resulting in the all-powerful [[Tigerhawk]].
* An unproduced version of Tigatron shown at Toy Fair in 1996 was cast in orange plastic instead of cream-colored.

*Tigatron's beast mode may well have been female. His template animal was female, and while wild felines have size differences between males and females Tigatron and Snowstalker were shown as being the same size; indeed, they were for all intents and purposes identical, such that [[Waspinator]] thought Snowstalker ''was'' Tigatron.
*In the Japanese dub of Beast Wars, for the sake of humor, Tigatron was played as a "samurai" ronin. Additionally, since Airazor was made male in the Japanese dub, instead of their relationship being romantic, Airazor was presented as Tigatron's ward whom he looked to as a "brother" (hence the close bond).

Later, Megatron noted that while Galvatron was ambitious, he cared for his underlings - and although he was loathe to admit it, he acknowledged that Galvatron probably had all the regal bearing of a new [[Emperor of Destruction]]. {{storylink|Beast Wars II catalog}}

Megatron instructed [[Tarantulas]] to study the disk for the coordinates of Earth while the ''Darkside'' battled its several pursuers. Although they were followed by the Maximal ships [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']] and the ''[[Chromia 10]]'', the ''Darksyde''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s mission was also aided by a third ship crewed by the Predacon agents [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] and [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]]. Though the ''Chromia 10'' and the Predacon ship were destroyed, the ''Darksyde'' was still followed by the ''Axalon''. Megatron removed his transformable armor and patched a video feed through to the ''Axalon'''s captain, [[Optimus Primal]].

Dinobot chastised Megatron, accusing him of leading the Predacons to the wrong planet and challenged Megatron for leadership of the Predacons. Megatron simply ignored the challenge and had Scorponok dispose of him. {{storylink|Beast Wars, Part 1}}

Despite the loss of a formidable crony, Megatron positioned himself on the new world and the "Beast Wars" began. Being on a world filled with Energon allowed [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] to find a superhorde, and power himself to great levels. With this power, Terrorsaur was able to demolish Megatron in battle and take over the Predacons. However, through the Maximals' actions, the superhorde was destroyed. Terrorsaur was eventually ridden of his newfound power and returned to an angered Megatron, who was rebuilt by [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]]. {{storylink|Power Surge}}

[[Image:Megatronbwtrex.jpg|150px|thumb|Ah, today is a beautiful day to be out stomping on things! Yessss...]]
Again, Terrorsaur tried to usurp Megatron, this time using an apparently-turned [[Rattrap]], who used a device to paralyze Megatron. The Predacons argued over who would be leader, but agreed to put Rattrap and Megatron away for the time being. Megatron was able to easily escape using his secret voice commands, leaving Rattrap to his fate. Revealing himself to have escaped, Megatron allowed Terrorsaur to lead the Predacons in battle with the Maximals. Terrorsaur failed miserably, showing his ineptitude to the Predacons, which was Megatron's plan all along. {{storylink|Double Jeopardy}}

Megatron later formulated a plan to get off Earth. First, he had the other Predacons act dissatisfied with his leadership, causing a battle that apparently destroyed the Predacons, using a Maximal spy camera that he was aware of to play out the trick. Then, the Maximals scavenged the ''Darksyde'' for parts to repair the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s stardrive. Dinobot discovered the deception and rushed to warn the leaving Maximals. In the scuffle, Megatron snuck aboard. In the ''Axalon'', he managed to knock out every Maximal on the ship but Rattrap, who he started crushing to death. An angered [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] woke up and threw Megatron off the ''Axalon''. However, Megatron's tail weapon was stuck in the console, causing the ''Axalon'' to crash. Again. {{storylink|Victory (Beast Wars episode)|Victory}}

Later, Megatron caught wind of the return of the [[Vok]] and called a ceasefire between the two factions, realizing he had more important things to worry about. The Vok did indeed return, and planned to destroy the planet the Transformers were on with their massive [[Planet Buster]] (cleverly disguised as the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]). Optimus Primal managed to stop the planet buster after flying close to it within a modified stasis pod. Megatron added a little surprise for Primal within the pod, though; locking the door so that Primal could not escape and was destroyed when the planet buster exploded. {{storylink|Other Voices}}

The [[quantum surge]] from the exploding planet buster bathed Megatron in quantum energies, upgrading him into a [[transmetal]]. Megatron quickly rallied his forces and attempted an all-out attack on the leader-less Maximals. Megatron and the Predacons took the upperhand in battle until a transmetal Optimus Primal (brought back online by [[Rhinox]]) saved the day. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1}}

With both factions now aware that the planet they were stranded on was really prehistoric [[Earth]], Megatron was free to put his full plan into motion. Locating the crashed [[Ark]], Megatron attempted to alter history by assassinating the unconscious [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. By doing so, he intended to ensure the defeat of the [[Autobot]]s and thus the victory of the [[Decepticon]]s and Predacons. (For unknown reasons, he showed no concern that such a drastic change to the timestream might erase his own existence.) {{storylink|The Agenda, Part 3}}

The Maximals managed to save Prime's life by having [[Teletraan-1]] repair his body while Optimus Primal kept his spark within his own structure, transforming his body into a more powerful form. The Maximals defeated Megatron and returned Prime's spark to its proper place. {{storylink|Optimal Situation}}

[[Image:Megatrontm2render.jpg|left|thumb|250px|Two Megatrons for the price of one. Yessss...]]

Megatron was not to be outdone. He managed to sneak inside the Ark (which was now the new Maximal base) and take the spark of the original Megatron, seeking to replicate the effect Optimus Prime's spark had on Primal's body. He placed his namesake's spark within his body, transforming himself into a powerful dragon. With this newfound body, Megatron was able to give Optimus Primal a sound beating, until chased away by the entire Maximal group. {{Storylink|Master Blaster}}

After returning the original Megatron's spark to its proper body, the Maximals headed back to Cybertron with the incarcerated Megatron shackled to the outside of their ship. {{Storylink|Nemesis, Part 2}}

However, the Autobots were able to defeat the two Megatrons, sending the villains into retreat.

====''Beast Wars Reborn'' text story====

====''Universe''====

Optimus Prime is revived as a zombie by Quintessons.

==Detailed synopsis==

On the run from [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], the Autobots take refuge on board the mausoleum ship containing many of their deceased comrades. These include [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]], [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], [[Huffer]], and [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], who is strangely alive again thanks to a [[Quintesson]] plot. After Optimus saves their lives, [[Rodimus Prime]] eagerly returns the [[Matrix of Leadership]] to him, despite his bizarre behavior and damaged appearance. After he re-assumes command, Optimus orders an all-out attack on a supposed Quintesson base (in reality a trap that the partially-reprogrammed Optimus is designed to lead the Autobot fleet into). Eventually, Optimus' dangerous, erratic behavior forces Hot Rod to reclaim the Matrix from his zombified mentor, who still possesses enough of his true heroic self to partially fight back against the Quintesson's reprogramming. When he does, the irreparable Optimus' last act is to pilot the Autobot flagship into the trigger zone of the Quintesson trap. And thus, the tears of untold thousands of young boys flowed all over again.

However, Prime's deceased body was apparently saved from the ship by Jessica Morgan and Gregory Swofford, leading to the events of [[The Return of Optimus Prime]].
Others are soon to discover that his seemingly benign tic is merely the gateway to a frighteningly twisted and perverse mind, even for a Decepticon, Decepticon. A master of electricity, his dark desires put this skill to use on his victims, victims. Nothing delights him more than to see how they squirm from his touch, touch.
The mercenary Insecticons landed on earth in their own space pod before the Ark crashed to Earth. ''(It is unclear whether this pod was launched from the [[Nemesis]] or not, as the dialogue seems to suggest maybe it was, but the Insecticons and Megatron's Decepticons do not seem to know each other.)'' Their pod crashed into the region that would become known as "Demon Swamp" and their computers adapted them to transform into insects and eat organic food to survive. The "Insecticons" apparently lived in the swamp for millions of years until discovered by Megatron's Decepticons. They form an uneasy alliance with Megatron, never coming fully under his command but working with the Decepticons when they could be convinced there was something (usually food) in it for them.

The Insecticons in the Cartoon were able to create vast clone armies of themselves at will, a formidable ability that my have been the reason they were able to maintain their autonomy from Megatron.

====Beast Wars====

While temporarily out of his mind, the Predacon [[Waspinator]] believed himself to actually be Shrapnel, and adopted his mannerisms and speech pattern, pattern.

===Marvel Comics continuity===

Shrapnel was one of the top lieutenants of Lord [[Straxus]] at [[Darkmount]] on Cybertron. Despite that, Straxus was willing to send him on a suicidal janitorial mission once, but Shrapnel managed to talk his way out of it. He was later reconfigured as an Insecticon, and travelled to Earth to serve under Megatron, then Shockwave, Ratbat, possibly Scorponok, Bludgeon, Megatron again...all while doing absolutely nothing of note besides being uncommonly easy to spot in crowd shots.

===Dreamwave comics continuity===
Shrapnel was part of a unit sent to Earth by [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] to guide the planet's development and prepare it for invasion. They were beaten up by the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] on arrival, then played dead until [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] got bored and wandered off. Millions of years later, they were discovered by both the [[EDC]] and Autobots after kidnapping an entire town. Shrapnel was last seen getting a building dropped on him by [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]].

As part of [[Serpent O.R.]]'s forces, Shrapnel defended the [[New Decepticon Army]]'s base against a combined Autobot/[[G.I. Joe]] strike force. {{storylink|The Art of War, Part 5}}

: Shrapnel transforms into a robotic stag beetle. He doesn't do a whole lot more than that. Like the other Insecticons, he has a variation on his chromed parts, but this one is on his gun. Some Shrapels have "fins" on the very back-end of the rifle and a more detailed main barrel, while others (obviously) lack those details. The extra-detail versions appear to be a later run.

: In Japan, Shrapnel and the other Insecticons were "re-released" as mail-order items from 1987 through 1988. They each cost 880 yen (their normal retail price) and two [[robot points]].
: This mold was used to make the [[Zaptrap]] drones.
: Shrapnel was released as part of the Japanese [[Transformers Collection]] series in a set with [[Bombshell]] and [[Kickback]]. This set also included three [[energon cube]] accessories that fit inside their chest compartments.

: The Shrapnel in this set has the lower-detail rifle, probably in order to keep it closer to the original-original release, particularly for the redeco.
===Merchandise===
*'''Shrapnel''' (Decoy, 1987)

: Shrapnel was one of the Decepticon [[Decoy]]s packed in with smaller carded ''Transformers'' toys. While the normal purple version could come on any Decepticon toy, the rarer red version was available ''only'' on [[Throttlebot]] cards and only for a short while before the switch to purple.

*'''Destron Hero Collection-22 Set''' (Decoy multi-pack, 1987)
*'''Robot Heroes Insecticon.''' (Rodimus Vs Insecticon, 2007)
: Renamed Insecticon because Hasbro has lost the trademark for Shrapnel, his Robot Hero incarnation is a two inch high figure in super deformed style.

==Trivia==
* Shrapnel --like the other Insecticons-- was originally a ''[[Diaclone]]'' "Waruder Kuwagatra" evil alien piloted mech in different colors... which were eventually used when the trio were [[redeco]]ed for [[e-Hobby]] release. This is also the genesis of those opening chest compartments.
* Shrapnel, along with [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], had his gender switched from male to female in the french dub of Transformers: The Movie. It is unknown why this change was effected, but it's most likely because of the character's high-pitched voice. The change did not happen in the cartoon, as it had used a different dubbing team from the movie.
'''Wheeljack''' is his own worst enemy. Somewhat of a crackpot inventor, a good half of his creations blow up in his face. He's simultaneously one of the Autobots' greatest assets and problems; for every successful gadget he builds, there's one which requires [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] to put him (and his lab) back together. But once in a while he strikes gold, which has won him respect from even the Decepticons.

He is, however, not a [[Perceptor (G1)|complete nerd.]] As good as he is in the lab, Wheeljack is just as amazing on the road, since there're few stunts he can't pull off. He enjoys showing off both on the design table and on the streets.
===Marvel Comics continuity===
''(Events from the UK-only comics are in italics.)''

''In the Marvel UK Universe, Wheeljack survived the Battle of Autobot City, as seen by being strung up by [[Quintessons]] in 2008. He wasn't seen after that, though [[Blaster]] survived the same treatment.''

===Animated continuity===
:''Voice actor:'' [[Chris Latta]] (US), [[Osamu Saka]] (Japan) [[Katsumi Suzuki]] ([[Attack of the Autobots]] and [[Day of the Machines]] only) [[Shinobu Satouchi]] (Victory)

[[Image:cybertronwheeljack.jpg|thumb|Boxy but safe.]]

Wheeljack was one of the original crew of [[Autobots]] aboard the ''[[Ark]]'' when it crashed into the Earth four million years ago. Originally a boxy-shaped transport affixed with retractable bumper-mounted cutting blades, Wheeljack was reformatted in 1984 to be a speedy and rare Lancia Stratos Turbo custom racing car. {{Storylink|More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1}}

Wheeljack was part of the battle unit organized by [[Jazz]] to first challenge the re-awakened [[Decepticons]] on Earth. He was involved in the battle at an off-shore oil rig, where the Autobots would meet the Witwickys, human workers that would befriend the Autobots. Wheeljack developed an especially close friendship with [[Sparkplug Witwicky]], as the two were both gifted mechanics. Wheeljack was next part of the team that attempted to stop the Decepticon plot to overload [[Sherman Dam]].

[[Image:Windcharger wheeljack otp.jpg|thumb|left|Truly, a look can be deceiving, but a touch can be lethal.]]

A restless engineer, Wheeljack has developed all manner of contraptions and equipment for his personal use and for use by his fellow Autobots, often with catastrophic results. He designed the compact yet extremely powerful explosive that nearly trapped the Decepticons in the [[Ruby Crystal Mines of Burma|ruby crystal mines of Burma]], a [[magnetic inducer]] device capable of stopping Transformers cold in their tracks, and a [[gyro-inhibitor]] shell that could incapacitate even Megatron for short spans.

Upon discovery of dinosaur bones in caverns within the [[Ark]]'s volcano, Wheeljack and Ratchet were inspired to construct robotic version of dinosaurs. The Dinobots were originally too dangerous and too primitive to control, leading to Optimus Prime commanding that the project be abandoned, but Wheeljack secretly persisted. He developed memory components that increased the [[Dinobots]]' intelligence, turning them into valuable, if sometimes unpredictable, members of the Autobot forces. {{Storylink|S.O.S.
Concealed in Wheeljack's left wrist is a fire suppression system, which no doubt came in handy when one of this devices would blow up in his face.

He ultimately met his end during the battle of [[Autobot City]].

:''('''Note''': Wheeljack has the distinction of being the first Transformer to appear in an episode of the animated series.)''
Wheeljack, [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and [[Minerva (G1)|Minerva]] were summoned by [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]] to save the life of the fallen [[Ginrai]]. They succeeded, transforming the former [[transtector]] into the mighty [[Victory Leo (G1)|Victory Leo]].

:''('''Note''': Wheeljack's not-being-deadness is never addressed. Though to Japanese viewers during the original airings, this was not a noticeable discrepancy, as the [[The Transformers: The Movie|movie]] where he died had not been shown in Japan until '''after''' ''Victory'' had aired. However, the original Movie storyboards show [[Smokescreen (G1)|Smokescreen]] as the dead Autobot next to [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]]). It is also possible that if [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] was successful with [[Operation: Distant Thunder]] then Wheeljack could have survived his apparent demise in the movie via [[Project Bodyshop]].''

Wheeljack along with Perceptor and Jetfire discovered [[Reconfiguration Matrix|new properties]] of the matrix which allowed Optimus Prime to revive himself as Laser-Rod Optimus Prime after a crushing defeat by Megatron.
===Binaltech===
[[Image:BTWheeljack_art.jpg|right|thumb|200px|HEAVY METAL RULES!!!]]

When the Dinobots were injured in a Decepticon attack in the year 2005, Wheeljack headed to Earth to arrange the transplantation of [[Grimlock]]'s mind into a new Binaltech body. On his return journey to the Autobot's moonbase, however, his shuttle was hijacked by time-tossed Decepticon [[Ravage]], who had begun a plan to alter the course of history. Wheeljack was shown a brief glimpse of the near future - including the deaths of himself and many of his comrades - but managed to escape Ravage's clutches; Ravage himself promptly returned to Cybertron and exhumed the [[Kronosphere]], using it to tip the balance of the decisive battle occurring at that time. Whereas the outcome would have originally favored the Decepticons, leading to their total conquest of Cybertron, Ravage ensured an ''Autobot'' victory, altering history and leaving the heroes to face the looming threat of [[Unicron]] alone.

Aware that history had been altered, Wheeljack was faced with a dilemma - should he stop Ravage's plan and restore the timestream, even though it would mean the death of many Autobots, including himself? His salvation, he hoped, lay in the [[GT System]], a device that allowed a singular [[spark]] to simultaneously control many duplicate bodies. Dubbing his original body the "Alpha Unit," he constructed the "Beta Unit" based on Grimlock's Ford Mustang body, as well as the ominous third "Omega Unit," a mysterious body about which nothing is known.

The subsequent arrival of Unicron prompted the Autobots to initiate "Operation: Distant Thunder," which saw [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] use the chronal warp on [[Dinobot Island]] to send Wheeljack's memory data back in time, in hopes of alerting the Autobots in the past and preventing alteration to the timestream. The plan didn't go very well and only wound up throwing the timestream into a severe state of whack, until a mysterious [[Nemesis Prime (Alternators)|black Optimus Prime]] appeared and sealed the time portals that had been created. Operation: Distant Thuner had succeeded in preventing the mainline timestream's operation, but had also preserved the Binaltech timeline as its own, distinct divergent universe.
[[Image:Wheeljack dw6.jpg|left|thumb|Wheeljack calms a group of panicked humans by charging at them while brandishing a weapon.]]

''Wheeljack suffers from a mild form of [[mode attachment]], feeling more comfortable in his vehicle mode than robot mode. As a consequence he does his best thinking in vehicle mode, often while attempting something insanely dangerous.''<ref>The [[DK Transformers Ultimate Guide]]</ref>

Wheeljack was one of the engineers that designed and constructed the Ark, and part of the ship's original crew.

In 1986, [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] discovered Wheeljack in pieces but functional after an explosion while bug-testing his neutron detonator shell.<ref>Dreamwave's More than Meets the Eye profile for Wheeljack</ref>

:''('''Note''': A version of the events of the Sunbow cartoon episode [[Autobot Spike]] appear to have taken place in the time between 1984 and 1998.)''

Wheeljack was among the Transformers involved in the [[Ark II]] disaster. He survived the explosion of their spacecraft, crashing back to Earth where he and [[Trailbreaker]] lay deactivated and frozen within an iceberg until awakened by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. {{Storylink|Prime Directive, Part 2}}

Wheeljack participated in the assault on [[Lazarus|Lazarus's]] Canadian Headquarters. When [[Robert Hallo|General Hallo's]] attempt to bomb the Autobots and the Decepticons out of existence instead caused a violent expansion of [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s [[cyber-virus]], Wheeljack and [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]] were the first Autobots to free themselves. {{Storylink|Prime Directive, Part 4}}

While Prime took some of the Autobots after Megatron, Wheeljack diagnosed the nature of the cyber-virus, and created a set of anti-viral blasters that used the Autobots' energy to return the converted matter to normal. The intervention of Canada's token military force scuttled that plan when they fired into the virus, expanding it beyond the point the Autobots could contain. {{Storylink|Prime Directive, Part 5}}

In response, Wheeljack converted a nearby satellite dish into a giant anti-viral weapon, channeling all of his remaining energy into it. He succeeded in destroying the virus, but was left near death. {{Storylink|Prime Directive, Part 6}}

Six months later, Wheeljack came back online just in time to participate in the short-lived truce with the Deceptions and the assault on [[Las Vegas]] to destroy the [[Keepers]]. {{Storylink|Keepers Trilogy}}

Later, when [[Shockwave]] and [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] came to arrest the Autobots as war criminals, Wheeljack was one of the Autobots secretly left behind by Optimus Prime. {{Storylink|War and Peace}} Like most of the rest of that group of Autobots, Wheeljack was beaten to the point of stasis lock by [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] some time later and dumped into a nearby swamp. He was dredged out by an [[EDC]] task force and repaired.

Wheeljack was also instrumental in the planning and construction of [[Autobot City]].

===IDW comics continuity===
Wheeljack is part of a detachment of Autobots that has operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency. He appears to be continuing in his role of technical scientist and gadgeteer for the Autobot detachment; he builds a device that can interface the [[SM-40]] palmtop computer with the systems aboard the Autobots' [[Ark-17]] spacecraft.
: The original Wheeljack toy, released as part of the 1984 series of Autobots, was based on a ''[[Diaclone]]'' Lancia Stratos Turbo. He comes with two rocket launchers that can fire four projectiles and two clear wings. In robot mode, the rocket launchers and the wings mount onto his shoulder and back respectively. For some reason, Wheeljack's lower arms/hands cannot lock into his upper arms, leaving them hanging at an angle.

: Renamed Insecticon because Hasbro has lost the trademark for Shrapnel, his Robot Hero incarnation is a two inch high figure in super deformed style.

==Trivia==
Rumble has a tendency to toss out a taunting rhyme at his enemies and is, according to [[Brawn]], a "jerk".

As the Decepticon demolitions expert, Rumble loves nothing more than to break things apart. His arms can transform into powerful piledrivers that, when pounded against the ground, can cause earthquakes, usually with fissures. He can be easily overpowered in a one-on-one match, though the real challenge, however, is actually getting to him first.

Rumble's achievements in the comic amounted to not being able to see humans because they were too small, and getting his chassis handed to him by [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]]. It took him a very long time to get better.

''(In the Japanese dub, the lesser-seen red Decepticon cassette, or our [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]], was indicated to be Rumble to more accurately reflect his toy colors.)''

Rumble was one of the original Decepticon raiding party that crashed into Earth four million years ago aboard the [[Ark]]. Reawakened in 1984, he was reformatted into an audio cassette that fit snugly into Soundwave's chest compartment. Despite his small size (he was usually shown to be about the height of a tall human), he seemed to be on equal footing with most other Decepticons. No doubt this was due to his seismic power, which was used quite often (including once by [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] [[Heavy Metal War|when he had borrowed]] Rumble's [[power chip rectifier]]). A common Decepticon tactic was to use Rumble to use his earth-shaking abilities to agitate hydroelectric power sources, as the Decepticons did at [[Sherman Dam]] and [[Great Falls]].

Assisted by his diminutive stature, Rumble was also responsible for stealing some of the cars that would later become the [[Stunticon|Stunticons]].

Rumble was effectively doubled by his bodytype-brother [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]]. Both had identical voices, personalities and abilities, though Rumble appeared alone more often than not.

''Fairly prominent in Seasons One and Two, his appearances dwindled after the start of Season Three.''
: Rumble was part of the first wave of Transformers toys releaed in 1984. Using the same mold as a Microchange Microcassette Robo Micro, he was packaged with [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] by Hasbro in 1984-1986, and with [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] by Takara from 1985-1986, and by himself in 1987.
[[Image:AltRumble.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Nothing says "rebellious" like a Honda Civic!]]

: For ''[[Alternators]]'', Rumble transforms into a 1:24-scale licensed 2006 Honda Civic Si, with opening doors, hood, etc. Additionally, instead of traditional hands, Rumble features spring-loaded piledrivers that release from his arms. Accessories include two back-mounted weapons, one of which doubles as his engine in car mode and the other which fits into his trunk.

:Originally intended for normal retail release in the US, he and wave-mate [[Ravage]] got relegated to being Wal-Mart [[exclusive]]s, released in late March of 2007. Both were available at normal retail in various European markets. He and Ravage are notable for being the first Decepticon Alternators to be entirely new molds, rather than an Autobot mold reworked to be someone else. They are also notable for being the final ''Alternators'' toys to be sold at retail.

: Rumble's seats are mis-assembled, keeping them from reclining completely in car mode. To fix this, unscrew each seat from the bottom of the car, swap them, and then rescrew.
==Trivia==

*On the G1 TV series, Rumble was represented with the colors of [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]]'s toy - that is, dark and medium blue, rather than red and black (and vice versa). This led to some confusion (and later, controversy) amongst fans. (See [[RIBFIR]].)
