'''The Autobots try to claim a magnetic weapon called a "polarity gauntlet" before the Decepticons get to it.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Image:MetalAttraction-JackJuneEep.jpg|left|thumb|300px|Jack discovers his mother's startling fetish.]]
[[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] reports to [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and [[Jack Darby|Jack]] that there's an incoming vehicle, which they initially assume to be a [[Decepticon]], but they relax when it turns out to be [[June Darby]] in her car. Jack's less than enthusiastic that his mother's come to check up on him ''again'', but the mood changes when Ratchet detects an unusual magnetic flux.

[[Image:TFP_ep18_BD_optic_patch.jpg|thumb|right|300px|YOU ARE A PIRATE.]]
[[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] has also picked up the magnetic signature, which [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] recognizes as a Decepticon weapon. [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] volunteers to secure the invention. Megatron is skeptical of Breakdown's abilities following [[Operation: Breakdown|certain recent events]], but Breakdown insists.

[[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] and [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] arrive back at [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|base]] with [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]], but their high spirits drop when they realize Jack's mom is there. Arcee and Jack prepare to go conduct a routine diagnostic, but June's questioning about how safe it will be makes Arcee irritated. Ratchet asks Bulkhead to go and investigate the magnetic disturbance, and when Miko announces she's going too, Bulkhead is obliged to tell her to stay at base. Finally, June's questions become too much for Arcee, and she opts to go with Bulkhead.

In a desert area, Breakdown breaks apart some rocks to find the device he's after. No sooner has he picked it up than [[Airachnid]] puts in an appearance, clouts him and grabs the weapon. Breakdown recovers quickly and begins fighting Airachnid, until she burrows up from beneath the earth and drags him down, leaving him buried. She picks up the device and is ready to leave, when Breakdown pulls himself free of the ground, and the pair charge at each other.

[[Image:TFP_ep18_tag_team.jpg‎|thumb|left|300px|"How many attraction jokes do you think we can come up with?" "A lot, Bulkhead."]]

Arcee and Bulkhead trudge through the rocks, discussing how Jack's mom is a killjoy, and Miko, who has quietly tagged along, asks if they can ban her from the base. Arcee calls for a [[GroundBridge]], but Miko talks her out of it, then requests Bulkhead play some rock music. Arcee tells him to shut it off, as it's not exactly stealthy, and they soon find Breakdown and Airachnid fighting. Leaving Miko a safe distance behind, the two Autobots leap into combat, surprising Airachnid, who has just gotten the upper hand. Bulkhead tosses Arcee into the air, and she shoots at the pair before charging at Breakdown, but Airachnid insists on facing Arcee herself. After a few minutes' fighting, Bulkhead and Arcee overcome their opponents, but Breakdown grabs the weapon and activates it. Warning him that it isn't a toy, Airachnid retreats underground, and Arcee and Bulkhead find themselves being dragged towards each other. The weapon hoists them into the air before slamming them back against some rocks. Satisfied, Breakdown transforms to return to the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]''. Miko finds [[Miko's phone|her phone]] stuck to Bulkhead's chest and Arcee stuck to Bulkhead's back.

Driving along a road, Breakdown is ambushed and entangled in a web.

Ratchet realizes that the weapon Breakdown has is a [[polarity gauntlet]] and says their best bet to get Arcee unstuck is to get the gauntlet back. Arcee insists on Miko returning to base, and Miko complains loudly that she sounds just like Jack's mom, which June naturally hears over the comm link.

[[Image:TFP_ep18_Airachnid_gauntlet.jpg‎ |thumb|right|300px|"Ooh, shiny."]]

At an old gas station, Airachnid tries on the gauntlet. Breakdown, securely webbed to the side of the building, suggests they could take it back to Megatron together, but she's not keen on rejoining the Decepticons and thinks the gauntlet will be perfect for keeping everyone else away. Bulkhead trudges up to the gas station to confront Airachnid, who tells him to put his hands up and turn around. He does so, and Arcee promptly opens fire, managing to shoot the gauntlet out of Airachnid's hand. The device activates and drags everything metal towards it, including Breakdown, who is pulled free of the webbing and shuts the gauntlet down. Bulkhead and Arcee begin awkwardly fighting Breakdown and Airachnid. Bulkhead manages to deck Breakdown and turns to face Arachnid, but then Breakdown uses the gauntlet to drop an oil derrick on the 'Bots.

Pinned under an unconscious Bulkhead, Arcee is menaced by Airachnid. Fortunately, Bulkhead comes around in time, and the pair stand up, now separated. Arcee attacks Breakdown, but Bulkhead finds himself no match for Airachnid, who grabs the gauntlet and uses it to draw Arcee to her. Bulkhead blasts Breakdown into another oil derrick, while Arcee and Airachnid fight. Arcee eventually gets possession of the gauntlet and uses it to polarize everyone so that they repel metal. Airachnid uses her webbing to snatch the gauntlet back and transforms to escape, but Bulkhead grabs onto her helicopter mode and throws her into Breakdown. With the gauntlet secured, Arcee and Bulkhead head back to base, where they give it to Ratchet, and June apologizes for being overprotective.

On the ''Nemesis'', Megatron is unhappy when Breakdown returns apparently empty-handed, but Breakdown reveals he has Airachnid stuck to his back. Airachnid tells an amused Megatron that she is happy to return.
==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===
* Cellphones are primarily made of plastic, which is not attracted to magnetic objects.
* A magnetic field that powerful should have wiped out Miko's phone.
* The Polarity gauntlet didn't attract Miko's belt buckle or earrings.
* When Arcee is stuck to Bulkhead, she can still move her arms and legs. If the magnetic force were strong enough to hold her to him, her limbs would also have been stuck.

===Continuity errors===
* Mere moments after Bulkhead states that he is polarised and can’t touch metal, he grabs Airachnid out of the air and throws her at Breakdown. Is she not made of metal, or did the gauntlet's effects wear off that fast?
** To be fair Airachnid was not polarised.
*** It could be that only Bulkhead and Breakdown were polarized.

===Continuity notes===
*Breakdown was bested by humans and lost his right optic in "[[Operation: Breakdown]]".

===Transformers references===
*After Breakdown volunteers to retrieve the weapon, Megatron retorts, "If you can be bested by mere humans, [[Furmanism|what chance do you have]] against the Autobots?"
* At the end of the episode, Arcee gives Ratchet the magnet. If he uses it himself, he would not be [[Ratchet (Animated)|the first Ratchet to use a magnet as a weapon and tool.]]

===Real-world references===
* The episode title appears to be a belabored nod to the film ''[[wikipedia:Fatal Attraction|Fatal Attraction]]''.
* Bulkhead and Arcee appear to perform a [[wikipedia:Fastball Special|Fastball Special]] in combat. [[Along Came a Spider#Real-world references|This is not the first time a Bulkhead has used this move.]]

===Trivia===
*[[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] apparently didn't have any extra optics lying around to give Breakdown. [[Shadowzone (episode)|Sound familiar?]] Either that, or Megatron won't let him repair Breakdown as punishment for being captured by humans.
*Breakdown's new optic patch was hinted at during [[BotCon 2011]] when an artist from the series was requested to sketch Breakdown by [[Chris Ho|a certain Transformers fan]]: the artist asked what [[Operation: Breakdown|episode]] had just been screened, thought for a moment, and soon provided an image of Breakdown with an optic patch.<ref>Vangelus revealed this during the [http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/wtf-tfw-transformers-podcast/422249-wtf-primetime-14-operation-breakdown-june-22-2011-a.html "Operation: Breakdown"] episode of TFW2005's "WTF Primetime" podcast</ref>
*During this episode's original airing, the [[commercial bumper]]s were backwards: "we now return" was played at the start of each break and "we'll be right back" was played at the end.
*As of this episode, we finally have a mention of Jack's father having left him and June.
*Also as of this episode, it seems that Arcee has been the only character that's been in every single episode so far, as Bumblebee does not appear for the first time.
*Apparently Miko [[Shadowzone (episode)|didn't learn her lesson]] as she followed Bulkhead and Arcee. Although this time, she only followed them to get away from Jack's mother, so otherwise, she probably would have stayed put.
*As shown in [[Scrapheap|a previous episode]], Miko is terrified of spiders, yet the sight of Airachnid doesn't seem to frighten her at all.
'''Breakdown is captured by MECH, and the only ones who can save him are... Team Prime.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] is fighting [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] in a ghost town on the [[Kamchatka Peninsula]] in Eastern [[Russia]] after the two have a run-in while tracking an energon signature. Though Bulkhead fights valiantly, Breakdown lays him flat with a hammer blow. As Breakdown prepares to finish the unconscious Bulkhead off, he's zapped by a blast of energy from a helicopter, which lands and disgorges [[Silas]] and a pack of [[MECH]] troops. Silas instructs them to take Breakdown. Bulkhead comes around to find Breakdown missing and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] calling out to him on the comm. After he bridges back to base for repairs, everyone's confused about what happened to Breakdown. [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]] has an idea who might be behind it.

On the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] relays news of Breakdown's capture to [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]. Starscream is keen to hunt down the [[human]]s responsible, but Megatron intends to leave Breakdown to his fate.

Breakdown recovers to find himself firmly attached to a metal slab. Silas introduces himself to the captive, who announces that Megatron will never pay a ransom, but Silas reveals they're not after money, just the technology in Breakdown's body.

Fowler fills the Autobots in — his intel has reported MECH activity in the Kamchatka Peninsula. While the other Autobots are happy for MECH to have Breakdown, [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] decides to mount a rescue mission. The others are surprised, and Bulkhead wonders if Optimus believes Breakdown will switch sides if the Autobots rescue him, but Optimus says while that's unlikely, they can't let MECH get Cybertronian technology.

Meanwhile, MECH have disengaged Breakdown's pain receptors in preparation for the operation. Silas thanks their captive in advance for the service he is about to do them, and the heavy machinery moves in to take the Decepticon apart.

Miko tries to talk Bulkhead into going on the mission, but he's not keen, and Optimus agrees he would not be an asset on the mission. Optimus departs with [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]], [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]]. Miko looks disappointed, and Bulkhead suggests they watch a movie instead.

Prime's team arrives in the ghost town, to find it deserted. Though Bumblebee spots some vehicle tracks, Ratchet reports he's got an [[energon (fuel)|energon]] trace, and they go to look for the source.

Fowler has already fallen asleep in front of ''[[Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape]]''. Miko isn't watching the movie though, as she's disappointed that Bulkhead isn't getting to face down his own arch-enemy. Bulkhead still doesn't want to rescue the 'Con, but Miko points out that if he doesn't, he won't get to have a rematch. Bulkhead takes the [[GroundBridge]] to [[Russia]].

Prime's team finds the energon reading — it's Breakdown's eye, sitting in the open.

Bulkhead follows a MECH car to a railway tunnel and, weapons primed, ventures inside.

Ratchet hooks Breakdown's eye up to his scanner so they can retrieve the last images it saw, however it turns out that Silas has turned the eye into a two-way video feed. Silas is surprised to see the Autobots, but shows off the work they're doing on Breakdown and points out the bomb the Autobots are standing virtually on top of. Prime's team just manages to get clear before the bomb explodes.

Silas passes on the news to Breakdown that his would-be rescuers are Autobots, much to the captive's confusion. At this point, Bulkhead breaks through an outer door and fights his way through the MECH goons to find Breakdown. Freeing the startled Decepticon, Bulkhead leads the way to the exit, but once outside they're confronted by the bulk of the MECH forces. Bulkhead calls for backup and their pair start fighting in earnest. Silas's 'copter begins firing bursts of energy, and Breakdown in an uncharacteristic act of altruism knocks Bulkhead out of the way of them. The fight continues, but [[MECH Navigator|Silas's copilot]] reports incoming signals, resulting in Silas ordering a general retreat. Arriving, however, is not Optimus's team, but Starscream and a bunch of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s. Starscream orders Breakdown to destroy Bulkhead, and though Breakdown is initially reluctant, Starscream sways him, and he attacks his Autobot rescuer. Bulkhead soundly pummels Breakdown before smashing Starscream and taking out the Vehicons with Breakdown's body. The Decepticons are forced to retreat as Optimus's team finally shows up. Optimus is impressed that Bulkhead has risen above his petty rivalries to rescue Breakdown, but the moment is spoiled by Bulkhead asking if they all saw how he bashed the Decepticons.

Breakdown pauses short of the ''Nemesis'', where Starscream informs him that he will repay his debt one day... when he must choose between Megatron's leadership and Starscream's.

Silas records that the information they gained from Breakdown was enough for them to start [[Project Chimera]]...
===Continuity errors===
* MECH can carve up Breakdown with ease with their surgical lasers, but the guns they give their footsoldiers seemingly have no effect on Transformers. Clearly MECH's footsoldiers should be equipped with surgical lasers instead.
===Trivia===
*The episode was screened at [[BotCon 2011]] before its first airing on television.
*This is the first episode of the series that Jack hasn't appeared in.
*Miko seems to have [[Shadowzone (episode)|learned her lesson]]: she didn't follow Bulkhead this time.
*Bulkhead, Miko, and Fowler watch ''[[Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape]]''.
*Human death ''must'' have occurred during Bulkhead and Breakdown's outdoor battle with MECH. Case in point: Breakdown throwing a car at a helicopter, causing a midair explosion.
*Despite being Breakdown's partner, Knockout makes no appearance in his episode, leaving the audience to wonder if he didn't know about Breakdown's capture, or didn't care enough to bother rescuing him.
{{disambig3|Rhinox}}
:''Rhinox is a [[Maximal]] (and occasionally a [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] or [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon]]) from the [[Beast Era]] portion of the [[Generation 1 (franchise)|Generation 1]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:Rhinoxbw.jpg|right|300px|thumb|"I will usher in a new age of technological perfecti — er, I mean, yay, pretty flowers."]]
[[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] was on the mark when he said that '''Rhinox''' was the best of them. He's a Renaissance Bot. Intelligent, massive, strong, and stalwart, there are few Maximals one could depend on more. Rhinox is of a rare breed -- he's incredibly tech savvy, but mystically-inclined... without coming off as a burnt-out technohippie. He's quick and decisive in a crisis, with spectacular results, but is slow and steady. He loves to sniff the flowers. A behind-the-scenes charismatic and an on-his-feet strategist, he could lead the Maximals if he wanted to, but he doesn't.

If he sounds too good to be true, it's because it is. At times he can be borderline obsessive and single-minded. The Maximals are glad he's on their side, because if he ever had a change of heart, woe be to them. No, woe be to the ''galaxy''.

Still, you can't help but love a bot who can fight Megatron to a standstill without breaking a sweat yet would rather take nap in a patch of daisies. Rhinox considers [[Rattrap]] to be his best friend, though he also thinks the same of [[Optimus Primal]]. He seems to have some parental emotions towards [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] due to his role in bringing her online.

Rhinox's only weapons—besides his rather intimidating strength—are his twin chainguns, affectionately named "Chainguns of Doom" by the fans.

Rhinox's core was an integral part of the evil [[Vehicon general]] [[Tankor (BM)|Tankor]].
==Fiction==
===First wave toy bios===
Rhinox is a territorial warrior who stampedes his way through the jungle whenever Predacons draw near, crushing everything in his path. Although he is known to be courageous and cunning, what makes him stand out from other warriors is that he has never been injured. EVER. Even though he has never backed down from a fight, his triple-thick, steel-plated skin protects him from all harm, even double-barreled laser cannons (which are presumably very powerful weapons). {{storylink|Rhinox (BW)#Toys|Rhinox bio}}

{{note|The on-package [[bio]]s of the first wave of Beast Wars toys, predate the development of the ''Beast Wars'' cartoon and its backstory. They seem to present the characters as a direct continuation of the previous Autobot/Decepticon conflict, with Optimus Primal actually being a new form of Optimus Prime and Megatron being his Generation 1 counterpart, and their battles taking place on present day, [[human]]-inhabited Earth, rather than in the distant past. Once the cartoon launched, the toyline adjusted itself to match that continuity instead, relegating this one to an aborted [[micro-continuity]].}}
[[Image:BeastWarsPt1 Primal and Rattrap ride Rhinox.jpg|thumb|left|250px|"Right, I've changed my mind: Optimus, become a damn truck."]]
Rhinox was a crewmember of the exploration ship ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' when captain Optimus Primal got word that the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] criminal [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] had stolen the [[Golden Disk (Voyager)|Golden Disk]] and a [[Darksyde|ship]] with [[transwarp]] capabilities. The ''Axalon'' was the closest vessel that also possessed a transwarp drive, so Rhinox's ship was sent to engage them. After following the Predacons through a transwarp portal and appearing above a mysterious planet, both ships were damaged in the ensuing space battle, and before both ships crashed into the planet's surface below, the [[stasis pod]]s carrying the rest of Rhinox's crew were ejected into orbit.

The planet was rich with [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] — so much so that prolonged exposure would short out their bodies, so the Maximals and Predacons were forced to take organic forms from the local creatures. Rhinox took the form of a rhinoceros. He soon took part in a rescue mission to retrieve [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] after the young Maximal ran into the Predacons, and forced [[Rattrap]] to give Primal cover. {{storylink|Beast Wars (Part 1)}}

During Optimus's battle with [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], Rhinox pulled the pair to safety after they almost plunged off a ledge. The Maximals subsequently were forced to tail the Predacons, and when Dinobot almost accidentally slagged Rhinox, it caused the ex-Predacon and Rattrap to come to blows. The two factions eventually reached the mountain topped with energon and fought over it while in their beast modes, until Megatron ended up destroying it. {{storylink|Beast Wars (Part 2)}}

[[Image:TheWeb Rhinox closeup.jpg|thumb|right|220px|"Bah, stuck in the base ''again''! To get more scenes, I need some sort of ''weapon''... a really ''impressive'' one..."]]
Being the handyman of the crew, Rhinox quickly developed a new comlink to overcome the problems with energon interference. After Cheetor got into trouble while testing it, Rattrap gave the cat a hard time, causing him to race off, and Rhinox pointed out that Cheetor was about to do something stupid. {{storylink|The Web}} Rhinox's next developments were some energon monitoring devices, though Optimus initially scrubbed the mission to install them. After Cheetor went anyway, and a series of events almost destroyed the Maximal base, Rhinox and the other Maximals thanked Cheetor for preventing the explosion. {{storylink|Equal Measures}}

[[Image:ChainofCommand Rhinox with chaingun.jpg|thumb|left|240px|-OF DOOM.]]
Rhinox had to dive for safety during a battle at the [[Standing Stones]], after [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] blew up the energon cache at its center. After Primal went missing, Rhinox had to break up a fight between Dinobot and Rattrap over who would lead, insisting on a secret ballot. The ballot ended in a deadlock, but they were then contacted by Primal, who'd become trapped in an [[Vok probe|alien probe]] at the Standing Stones. Rattrap was placed in charge during the bossmonkey's absence, and his command to Rhinox was to build a device to extract Optimus from the probe. Whether or not this device would actually have worked is unknown, as shortly before he had a chance to use it, Rhinox was ambushed by [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]], but turned the tables by blasting the Predacon with his chaingun. Waspinator stumbled into a stone, and Rhinox realised the whole structure was a mechanism as it caused the probe to disgorge Optimus Primal. {{storylink|Chain of Command}}

When Cheetor reported that [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] had found a [[flying mountain]], Rhinox theorized that the high concentration of energon on the top of it might be responsible for the strange gravity-warping effect. {{storylink|Power Surge}} After Primal was taken out by a Predacon sneak attack, Rhinox, Cheetor and Rattrap headed for a crashed stasis pod. The trio were delayed further, and beaten to the pod, however the [[protoform]] had already been awakened as [[Tigatron]]. {{storylink|Fallen Comrades}} Like the other Maximals, Rhinox was shocked by Rattrap's apparent defection to the Predacons, but as it turned out, it was a ploy to discover how the Predacons had been spying on the Maximals, and they were soon rescuing their comrade. {{storylink|Double Jeopardy}}

Rhinox later developed [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]], a hi-tech security system for the Axalon, which unfortunately went berserk when its control panel was damaged in a struggle between [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] and [[Rattrap]], forcing the Maximals from their own base. Rattrap however, was able to infiltrate the now-heavily guarded ship and deactivate Sentinel, which was then repaired and made fully-functional by Rhinox. {{storylink|A Better Mousetrap}} The Maximals were forced to restrain Optimus after he was infected by a rage virus in a [[cyberbee]] developed by [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] and Rhinox was unable to work out how to remove it. After Primal undertook a one-bot assault on the Predacon base, Rhinox took part in the mission to rescue their leader, laying down suppressing fire to allow Cheetor to slip inside the base. {{storylink|Gorilla Warfare}}

[[Image:Victory Rhinox sit down.jpg|thumb|right|260px]]
He was unsuccessful in contacting a Maximal [[temporal probe]] which flew past the planet. Though he blamed himself, he and the other Maximals rallied themselves to build a communications array on Predacon soil. Unfortunately while they were doing so, [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]]'s latest invention the [[transformation lock lens]], prevented them from sending the signal before Megatron destroyed the array. {{storylink|The Probe}} When a Predacon plan to fake a Maximal victory was exposed, Rhinox was dismayed when Optimus and Cheetor insisted on leaving the ''Axalon'' with liftoff imminent in order to rescue Dinobot. Tigatron attempted to go as well, leading Rhinox to order him to sit down. Liftoff eventually occurred without Primal, however Megatron got on board and damaged the controls. Rhinox attempted to control the ship and, with some assistance from Optimus, managed to get it down at least in one piece, though it would never fly again. {{storylink|Victory (episode)|Victory}}

[[Image:DarkDesigns Rhinox monologues.jpg|left|250px|thumb|Evil has silver detailing. Who knew?]]
Some time later, when the Maximals found themselves cornered by a Predacon ambush, Rhinox was able to take out their attackers with a carefully aimed spray of chaingun fire. Megatron was so impressed that he decided to make Rhinox a member of his merry band of thieves, by force. Rhinox was captured by Tarantulas and then reprogrammed into a Predacon by a device designed by Megatron called a "[[Transmuter (BW)|Transmuter]]". However, the newly malevolent Rhinox proved to be too much for Megatron to handle, as Optimus Primal had correctly predicted. He quickly dispatched most of the Predacons, working his way up to Megatron himself in an attempted coup. Rhinox very nearly succeeded, but fortunately, Megatron was able to revert him back into a Maximal using the Transmuter, and Rhinox escaped to rejoin his Maximal comrades and smell some flowers. {{storylink|Dark Designs (episode)|Dark Designs}}

The Maximals arrived back at base after being sent on wild goose chases by Megatron's [[Clone One|clone of Dinobot]], only to find that the clone had already been dealt with by the real Dinobot. {{storylink|Double Dinobot}} Later, a stasis pod crash landed in a barren wasteland. Rhinox intercepted it and, with [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]]'s help, managed to save the protoform Maximal's [[spark]]. The protoform then became [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]], who repaid the favor by saving the weakened Rhinox from Terrorsaur. {{storylink|The Spark}}

While Rhinox was communicating long distance with Tigatron, his fellow Maximal was attacked by Waspinator and Terrorsaur, leading the Maximals to discover the existence of a [[Brigadoon|flying island]]. {{storylink|The Trigger, Part 1}} [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] took control of the island and piloted it towards the ''Axalon'', forcing Rhinox, Cheetor and Dinobot to evacuate the base. The only thing Rhinox took with him was a potted plant. When the island's destruction sent a beam into space, the Maximals wondered who received the signal and what they'd do next. {{storylink|The Trigger, Part 2}}

At one point, a [[magna pulse]] triggered by Tarantulas knocked out the power in the Maximal base, and Optimus Primal left Rhinox struggling to get things working again. {{storylink|Spider's Game}} The loss of the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> [[rectifier coil]] forced the Maximals to stay in their beast forms at all times, which resulted in their beast instincts taking over and sending them off to wander the jungle. It was only with Tigatron's help that they deleted the programming blocks separating their core programming, and they were able to fight the Predacons who were hunting them. {{storylink|Call of the Wild}}

[[Image:Dark Voyage Rhinox listening.jpg|thumb|right|270px|Rhinox's Yoga phase]]
When Scorponok detonated a pile of energon near a group of Maximals, rendering them blind, it was Rhinox who led the group on the dangerous trek back to the Axalon, teaching them how to use their other senses. They were able to overcome the obstacles both nature and the Predacons could throw at them, and succeeded in reaching safety. Afterwards, Rhinox again went off to smell some flowers. {{storylink|Dark Voyage}} After the Maximals were ousted from their base by the Predacons assisted by a [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]-possessed Waspinator, they attempted a ruse to get the ''Axalon'' back, resulting in Rhinox and the others mounting an assault on the Predacon base. {{storylink|Possession}}

Later, Tarantulas infected Rhinox with an [[energon discharge virus]], which made him expel his energon reserves via his nasal passages in bursts powerful enough to tear through the hull of the Axalon, threatening both to destroy the Maximals' base and completely drain Rhinox of energy. Rattrap and Dinobot were dispatched to acquire a countervirus, while Rhinox ate some wild bean vines to keep his strength up. When the bickering duo nearly failed in their mission, the other Maximals, including Rhinox, showed up, and the rhinoceros blew away the Predacons with a massive energon... *ahem* "derriere-based"... discharge which was caused by his ingestion of wild beans. Megatron would remember this moment as the most humiliating defeat in his entire career. Rhinox was later cured by the countervirus via a Cybertronic beer hat. {{storylink|The Low Road}}

After Megatron called a truce, Rhinox assisted "non-violently" in helping Tigatron escape after infiltrating the Predacon base to find out more information. He non-violently held up a sheet of metal for Terrorsaur to crash into, and then non-violently sat on him. Tigatron reported that the aliens were coming. {{storylink|Before the Storm}} Indeed, an alien construct appeared and, while the other Maximals were investigating it, Rhinox and Dinobot were bushwhacked in the Maximal base by Tarantulas and Blackarachnia. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 1}} The rest of the Maximals found their two comrades webbed to the ceiling, and placed them in [[CR chamber]]s. Rhinox stirred in his chamber as he sensed Primal's impending destruction. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 2}}

[[Image:ComingFuzors2 Rhinox searches for Primal.jpg|thumb|left|240px]]
Protected by the CR chamber, Rhinox avoided being upgraded into a [[Transmetal]] by the [[quantum surge]]. After recovering, he took leadership of the Maximals to forestall any bickering and sent Rattrap and Cheetor out to protect the base against Megatron. Unfortunately Inferno was already loose in the base, and managed to blast Rhinox before fighting Dinobot. Rhinox quickly recovered, throwing a badly-battered Inferno out and forcing Megatron to retreat. {{storylink|Aftermath}} Rhinox later initiated a dangerous plan to bring the recently-deceased Optimus Primal back to life by using the hole in space-time caused by the destruction of the Planet Buster to astrally project his spark into the [[Allspark|Matrix]]. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)}} Rhinox followed the transion left by Primal's spark and led it back to the land of the living, where it was reborn as Transmetal Optimus Primal. Primal was able to come to the aid of the Maximals right when they were on the verge of defeat. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)}}

[[Image:OtherVisits2 Rhinox emerges from chamber.jpg|thumb|right|250px|"Ohhhhhh... What ''had'' I been taking in that last screencap?"]]
Rhinox conducted tests on Optimus Primal to attempt to determine what the new Transmetal forms were capable of, with limited results. {{storylink|Tangled Web}} His research into the alien sites predicted that there would be one located in an area Tigatron and Airazor were patrolling, however a Predacon jamming tower prevented the Maximals from warning the pair, who were shot into space by some sort of alien planet device. While the others were off the base, Rhinox was attacked by Megatron, Blackarachnia and [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]], who made off with the [[Golden Disk (Vok)|Golden Disk]]. After repairs, Rhinox and the other Maximals went to the alien site, only to be blasted by the alien construct that appeared. {{storylink|Other Visits (Part 1)}} The Transmetaled Maximals recovered quickly, and [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] and Cheetor took Rhinox and Dinobot back to base for repairs. Rhinox was barely recovered when he was again pressed into action, attacking the [[Metal Hunter|alien construct]] which Megatron had taken over, to allow Rattrap and Tarantulas to slip inside. {{storylink|Other Visits (Part 2)}}

When [[Rampage (BW)|Protoform X]]'s stasis pod was discovered, Rhinox worried that its contents had survived the crash. {{storylink|Bad Spark}} Rhinox calculated that the [[transwarp wavefront]] from the Planet Buster explosion would soon be reaching [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], though the good news was tempered a short time later when Dinobot perished saving a group of [[protohuman]]s from the Predacons. {{storylink|Code of Hero}} Rhinox's tests on [[Transmutate (character)|Transmutate]] were not promising, and he suggested putting the creature in stasis. Silverbolt wasn't happy with the suggestion. {{storylink|Transmutate (episode)|Transmutate}}

[[Image:Agenda3 Rhinox forcing door.jpg|left|230px|thumb|"Hey Rhinox, we just found the garage door opener after all... never mind."]]
Continuing to track the transwarp wavefront, Rhinox and the other Maximals celebrated their impending rescue, however instead they got Predacon agent [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]]. After fighting off the Predacons, Ravage helped the Maximals storm the ''Darksyde'' and arrest Megatron. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 1)}} With Ravage's defection, Rhinox and Rattrap found themselves under heavy assault in the ''Axalon''. Some daring-do on Rattrap's part saved the day, but the Maximals had to chase Megatron. Rhinox was forced to ride on Primal's surfboard, much to his visible discomfort at the height. They tracked Megatron to [[Mount St. Hilary]], where the Predacon leader had located the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] and attempted to reach the ship first. Though Rhinox physically forced the ship's doors open, they were too late — Megatron had blasted [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], causing a [[time storm]] as history began to change. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part III)}}

With Blackarachnia's help, the Maximals stabilised Prime ad Rhinox stayed to supervise the repairs while the others went to defend the ''Axalon''. His work was interrupted by Silverbolt's "situation" — Blackarachnia had been shot by Megatron during the conflict, but as Rhinox pointed out, she just needed repairs. The ''Axalon'', on the other hand, was lost, and the Maximals were forced to set up base in the cavern housing the Ark. {{storylink|Optimal Situation}}

Rhinox had difficulties interfacing Maximal and [[Autobot]] technology, and expressed doubts that help was still on the way, though it did turn up in the form of [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge]], who'd come looking for [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]]. {{storylink|Deep Metal}} An attempt by Rhinox to rig up [[Teletraan I (G1)|Teletraan I]]'s force field to protect the base failed, forcing the Maximals to attempt to salvage Sentinel. He later had to restrain Rattrap from trying to attack Depth Charge, who had caused the mission to fail. {{storylink|Changing of the Guard}}

[[Image:CuttingEdge Rhinox chainguns.jpg|thumb|right|230px|You wouldn't like him when he's angry.]]
Analysing the [[cyber raptor]] which Primal had encountered, Rhinox reported that it was fused with Transmetal technology. Once the others had all left the base, he and Rattrap found themselves under siege from Megatron and a group of Predacons. Rhinox finally made a desperate attempt to see them off with a barrage of chaingun fire, only to be blasted backwards. Depth Charge fortunately came to the rescue and saved them both. {{storylink|Cutting Edge}}

When the Maximals thought that Cheetor had been killed, Rhinox told Primal not to give up hope, and went to get the long-range sensors online. As it turned out, his optimism was correct, as Cheetor later turned up outside the base. {{storylink|Feral Scream Part 1}} After Cheetor was apparently spirited away overnight by a strange creature, Silverbolt and Blackarachnia went out looking, but to Rhinox's surprise, didn't find anything. {{storylink|Feral Scream Part 2}}

[[Image:CrossingtheRubicon Rhinox operating.jpg|thumb|left|240px|"Everyone, shut up! I'm finally gonna beat the first level of ''[[Transformers: Mystery of Convoy|Mystery of Convoy]]!''"]]
Rhinox scanned Blackarachnia's internals, with a view to extracting her Predacon [[shell program]] and restoring her to a Maximal state. Some time later, he and Primal discovered that she had overheard their conversation about the concept, and fled in the belief they'd force her to go through with it. {{storylink|Proving Grounds}} A huge buildup of energy on a mountain top caused alarm for the Maximals, who braced for a possible attack, but all that happened was that the top of the mountain exploded. How odd. {{storylink|Go with the Flow}}

When Blackarachnia's attempts to become a Transmetal caused her shell program to deteriorate, threatening to erase her core consciousness, Rhinox carried out a very delicate procedure to surgically remove the shell program directly. Unfortunately, certain failsafes installed by Tarantulas, combined with a Predacon attack, caused the operation to fail. Fortunately, Blackarachnia was mysteriously resurrected anyway by the [[Transmetal driver]]. {{storylink|Crossing the Rubicon}} Megatron's next gambit involved [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] remote controlling Optimus Primal. Once this was achieved, the subverted Primal's first order was for Rhinox to order everyone back to base, where Quickstrike was able to knock them out and stick them in a cage. Fortunately Blackarachnia was able to free Primal and the others and they fought off Megatron, who had upgraded himself using the original [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s spark. {{storylink|Master Blaster}}
Detecting an alien signature inbound to Earth, Rhinox realised that it meant that Tigatron and Airazor were coming back. Indeed, the Predacon base was soon destroyed by [[Tigerhawk]], the emissary the [[Vok]] had created using the two Maximal sparks, though Rhinox wasn't in the mood for celebrating. {{storylink|Other Victories}} Once the situation was sorted out, the Maximals began searching for Megatron and his scattered forces. Rhinox monitored the situation from base, as the others discovered that Megatron was attempting to raise the [[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]. He and Rattrap were overjoyed when Primal reported that Depth Charge had taken out the warship, but it turned out the news was a little too premature. {{storylink|Nemesis Part 1}}

Rhinox was ordered by Optimus Primal to execute [[Operation Eternity]], which apparently only Primal and he knew about. The purpose of the operation was to "move the Ark" by activating its engines and taking off; little is know beyond that, because the Maximals failed when the Ark's engines proved beyond repair. However, [[Dinobot II]] downloaded emergency data to the Ark about an [[Autobot Shuttle Omega Delta|Autobot shuttle]] hidden within the Ark. Rhinox piloted the shuttle and flew it directly into the bridge of the Nemesis, taking down Megatron and causing the warship to spiral out of control and crash somewhere beyond the horizon. Thus, the Beast Wars were won. Rhinox and the other Maximals left prehistoric Earth aboard the aforementioned Autobot shuttle and began the voyage home to Cybertron. {{storylink|Nemesis Part 2}}
Rhinox stood outside the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] as [[Razorbeast]]'s [[Chronal phase|chronically dispaced]] Maximals passed by. Not long after Megatron combined his spark with that of the original Megatron, he had Quickstrike plant a device in the Maximal base. The device magnified the Maximals' aggression, resulting in Rhinox trying to kill Blackarachnia while Silverbolt attempted to stop him. Rhinox returned to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] with the surviving Maximals to discover the entire population had been replaced by mindless [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon drones]] created by Megatron. {{storylink|The Reformatting}}

Rhinox, like the other Maximals, was exposed to Megatron's [[Transformation virus|virus]] at this point. Although the [[Transmetal]] Maximals merely reverted back to their original shapes, the Maximals who were still ''in'' their original shapes were instantly paralyzed. As a result, Rhinox and [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] were captured, stripped of their organic bodies and placed in the new bodies of [[Tankor (BM)|Tankor]] and [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]]. Much later on, Rhinox's mind was freed by Optimus' spark connection with him, and he watched and observed, eventually turning his back on his Maximals to go along with Megatron's cause of a purely technological, one-mind Cybertron. {{storylink|Revelations Part III: Apocalypse}}

Rhinox pretended to still be Tankor and sneaked around Megatron's ranks, reprogramming the [[Diagnostic Drone]] as his agent. He'd decided Megatron's ''cause'' was right, but it needed a different, more efficient person at the helm... someone like ''him''. ...only to find he no longer had remote control of the drones, and would need to trick Megatron into using them instead. By this point, he'd already been tampering with the Oracle (an interface for Vector Sigma) and used it to trick Optimus into finding the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]] that could destroy all technology. While he (wrongly) thought Primal would never use it, he knew Megatron would never take the chance! Unfortunately for him, he overplayed his hand: Megatron thought Optimus wouldn't use it either, grew suspicious with the Diagnostic Drone pushing him to strike first, and disabled it. Rhinox decided to launch an ambush assault and take out both enemy leaders while they were fighting... only to find, whoops, Megatron had programmed his generals to be ''incapable'' of shooting him. Rhinox was swiftly offlined, his plan stolen by Megatron, and then killed by plasma energy: a humiliating demise. {{storylink|End of the Line|End of the Line}}
Following the [[Quantum surge]], [[Optimus Primal]] was dead and the [[Maximal|Maximals]] were left scattered all over [[Earth|Energoa]], with only [[Transmetal]] Rhinox and [[Rattrap]] holed up in the Maximal base. The [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]] were in much better condition, having also been mutated into Transmetals but with their numbers still intact. As the Maximal base came under attack from [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] and his forces, Rhinox casually worked on a new machine while Rattrap freaked the hell out. Suddenly, [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] appeared and was attacked by [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]]. Much to Rattrap's chagrin, Rhinox shut Sentinel down to allow Airazor to get inside the base, though it considerably weakened their defenses.

Seeing an opening, [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] infiltrated the base and effortlessly took out Rattrap and Airazor. Rhinox proceeded to pull out a strange "gun", but instead of pointing it at ''her'', he pointed it at ''himself'' and proceeded to "blow his brains out". With the job well done, Blackarachnia left the base as it exploded.

As it turned out, the "gun" was part of Rhinox's machine, which was being kept safe from the explosion (along with Rattrap and Airazor) by a small force field. The "gun" allowed Rhinox to travel into [[Transwarp space]], where he found the [[Spark|spark]] of [[Optimus Primal]], about to move on to his deathly reward. '''Prowl''' is not a verbose [[Maximal]], preferring instead to listen. He gathers information, analyzes it, and instantly suggests an appropriate course of action. His logical mind is without match among his Maximal brethren, who rank him among their best military strategists. Prowl feels that he fulfilled that same role in a previous life.
==Fiction==
===Japanese cartoon continuity===
====''Story of Binaltech''====
Offered a glimpse of the fast-approaching future by the time-travelling [[Decepticon]] [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] was witness to the death of [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] and various other Autobots in the year 2005. In an attempt to alter the course of these events, he began [[Project Bodyshop (project)|Project: Bodyshop]], developing new Binaltech bodies for his comrades that they would be able to control via the [[GT System]]. A body was developed to be used a secondary unit by Prowl, and designated "Prowl 2".

When Prowl came under attack from Decepticons on a mission in the vicinity of Saturn, Wheeljack made a desperate attempt to preserve Prowl's life by attempting a long-range transfer of his spark into his new body via [[subspace]]. Unfortunately, the process malfunctioned and Prowl's spark was lost. The body, however, had already been programmed with Prowl's [[datatrax]], and [[Chip Chase]], recalling [[Roll for It|the time years before]] when he had taken control of Prowl's body, volunteered to have his own mind transferred into the shell, bringing it to true life as the new Prowl. {{storylink|Prowl & Chase}}
[[Image:Prowlwubsmagnus headmasters.jpg|right|180px|thumb|G-G-Ghost Prowl!]]
Prowl was stationed at [[Autobot City]] on Earth in 2011 when he and many other troops were summoned to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to help repel a [[Decepticon]] invasion. On the way to the [[space bridge]], the Autobots were attacked by a Decepticon attack force led by [[Sixshot]], but the arrival of the [[Trainbot]]s allowed them to break away and continue their progress. The Decepticons pursued them, and Prowl joined with [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] in lending [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] supporting fire until the Decepticon offensive broke. Prowl commented that they had showed their foes, and the team headed on to Cybertron. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}}

Later, Prowl attended a briefing at [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]], where Ultra Magnus assigned several Autobot units to run interference with the Decepticons for [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]], as the young Autobot searched for the missing [[Matrix of Leadership]]. Prowl accompanied Ultra Magnus's unit, but did not appear again. {{storylink|Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime}}
==Origins and complications==
Due to the fact that ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]'' (1986) was not released in Japan until 1989, the production staff of the assorted Japanese-exclusive series were not entirely aware of the fact that several characters died during the film. As a result, these deceased characters continued to appear in subsequent Japanese series—[[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] in ''[[The Headmasters (cartoon)|The Headmasters]]'', [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] in ''[[Victory (cartoon)|Victory]]''. Prowl was an especially erroneous instance, because he had been ''specifically'' name-checked as being among the deceased in the Japanese dub of "[[Dark Awakening]]", and yet... here he was, with a speaking line and everything.

The story accompanying ''[[Binaltech]]'' (2003–2008) introduced the [[GT System|Genetronic Translink System]], a mechanism which allowed Transformers to simultaneously operate multiple bodies. This served as a possible explanation for the survival of many of these characters, but it did not explain how Prowl could still be around, since he had specifically been stated to be dead. Enter "Prowl 2", an identical clone (sort of) with Prowl's memories that seemingly [[retcon]]ned the appearances in ''The Headmasters'' into being "Prowl 2", rather than Prowl.

This continuity patch-job failed to stick, however—eighteen chapters in, the events of the ''Binaltech'' storyline were branched off into a parallel dimension, leaving the appearances of Prowl in ''The Headmasters'' as an anomaly once more.

The anomaly continued in early 2008, when IDW's ''[[Beast Wars Sourcebook]]'' profiled the [[Transmetal 2]] [[Beast Wars (franchise)|Beast Warrior]] Prowl. Originally released in 1998, this Prowl's [[bio]] noted that he believed himself "to have been a great military strategist in a former life," a reference to the original Prowl. As the ''Sourcebook'' had already chosen to represent the [[Magnaboss]] component ''also'' known as Prowl as an upgraded version of the original character, Transmetal 2 Prowl—here given the moniker of "Prowl II"—was established to be an upgraded version of the semi-clone from ''Binaltech''.

This, however, doesn't make sense. The IDW ''Beast Wars'' storyline occurs simultaneously with the ''Beast Wars'' cartoon, and the events of the branched-off ''Binaltech'' timeline do not line up with the ''Beast Wars'' show (specifically, in the Generation 1-era of the ''Beast Wars'' universe, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] is known to have killed [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], but in the ''Binaltech'' timeline, [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] never even ''becomes'' Galvatron). Additionally, a few months after the publication of the ''Sourcebook'', the ''Binaltech'' story chapter included with [[Bluestreak]] firmly stamped out any possibility of this idea working by restoring Prowl to life and putting Chip back in his own body.
* There is another "[[Prowl 2]]" toy out there, the [[Spy Changer]] from the ''[[Robots in Disguise (franchise)|Robots in Disguise]]'' line. No release of the toy included a [[bio]], and consequently, just exactly ''who'' this figure represents can be debated. But this was the first official use of the term "Prowl 2", so when the ''Binaltech'' storyline later called Prowl's Binaltech body "Prowl 2", it was likely an intentional reference. In fact, it may have been ''more'' than a mere reference, since ''Car Robots'' (the original Japanese version of ''Robots in Disguise'') is part of the Generation 1 cartoon universe in [[Continuity|Japanese continuity]]. ====''Story of Binaltech''====

When Prowl came under attack from Decepticons on a mission in the vicinity of Saturn, Wheeljack made a desperate attempt to preserve Prowl's life by attempting a long-range transfer of his spark into his new body via [[subspace]]. Unfortunately, the process malfunctioned and Prowl's spark was lost. The body, however, had already been programmed with Prowl's [[datatrax]], and [[Chip Chase]], recalling [[Roll for It|the time years before]] when he had taken control of Prowl's body, volunteered to have his own mind transferred into the shell, bringing it to true life as the new Prowl. {{storylink|Prowl & Chase}}
Prowl was stationed at [[Autobot City]] on Earth in 2011 when he and many other troops were summoned to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to help repel a [[Decepticon]] invasion. On the way to the [[space bridge]], the Autobots were attacked by a Decepticon attack force led by [[Sixshot]], but the arrival of the [[Trainbot]]s allowed them to break away and continue their progress. The Decepticons pursued them, and Prowl joined with [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] in lending [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] supporting fire until the Decepticon offensive broke. Prowl commented that they had showed their foes, and the team headed on to Cybertron. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}}

Later, Prowl attended a briefing at [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]], where Ultra Magnus assigned several Autobot units to run interference with the Decepticons for [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]], as the young Autobot searched for the missing [[Matrix of Leadership]]. Prowl accompanied Ultra Magnus's unit, but did not appear again. {{storylink|Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime}}
For his standard Japanese ''Binaltech'' release, Prowl received a vehicle mode deco based on a real Japanese police car (the [[Hasbro]] [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]]'s deco being based more on the original Generation 1 toy), a different spoiler mold, different rims, right-side steering, a Japanese police cherry blossom emblem instead of an Acura logo, and gray plastic instead of stony-blue. ==Notes==
==Synopsis==
[[Image:BWPart1 strangenewworld.jpg|left|180px|thumb|In space, no one can hear you transform.]]
In an unknown star system, a [[transwarp]] portal opens, releasing two starships, a fleeing Predacon warship and a pursuing Maximal vessel. Already carrying the scars of battle, both ships immediately open fire upon each other. On the Maximal ship, a youthful crewmember reports on their damaged condition, in response to which another crew member bitterly complains about their non-combat exploration vessel not being cut out for this mission. Their commander, Optimus Primal, states that they were the only ship in range capable of intercepting the fugitives.

On the fleeing Predacon starship, the first officer urges his leader, Megatron, to finish off the Maximals while their opponents' shields are down. Megatron arrogantly rebuffs this suggestion, preferring to toy with his opponents. A broadside attack cripples their enemies' engines and causes significant damage to their stasis hold. Optimus Primal orders the Maximals' cargo of [[stasis pod]]s be released into safe orbit before firing the forward plasma cannons, strafing the Predacons' hull. With no engines, both ships are caught in the planet's gravitational pull and plummet to its surface.

[[Image:BWPart1 beastmodes.jpg|right|180px|thumb|And the fandom complained... for about five minutes.]]
Both ships are non-flightworthy after their crashes. The Maximals have landed on a cliff above a lake; the Predacon warship has landed smack in the middle of the ash-hardened opening of an active shield volcano. The Predacon computer informs Megatron that their location is unknown, as while the course settings were accurate, the readings were not consistent with what was to be expected of the location. Dismissing this for the time being, Megatron demands to know if the mysterious planet has [[Energon (fuel)|energon]], which the computer confirms to his elation. However, it warns that there is so much energon that prolonged exposure would permanently damage their robot modes. Declaring that they will take the forms of the most powerful creatures on the planet, Megatron orders his science officer to scan for local lifeforms which they could adapt as alternate modes to survive on this world. The Predacon ship launches a drone, scanning the fossils of a tyrannosaurus rex, velociraptor and pteranodon, as well as a living spider and wasp.

At the cliff, the Maximals have the same idea, scanning a gorilla, rat, rhino and cheetah. The Maximals check out their new forms and bicker amongst themselves, till Optimus Primal orders the crew to moderate their conflict circuits, reminding them that their new beast forms are to protect them from the long-term effects of the abundant energon fields: While they need energon for power, their robot modes will short out after a few minutes of exposure. Optimus notes that they are on a very unusual planet, wherever it is. Rhinox points out that the transwarp drive allows them to journey through space '''and''' time, so they could be in any place, any time. Optimus expresses concern about the stasis pods in orbit, as it means the Maximals are outnumbered.

[[Image:BWPart1 beastfaceoff.jpg|left|180px|thumb|We'll tumble. Rumble style!]]
Back at the other crash site, the Predacons are testing out their new beast modes, bar one. First officer Dinobot, studying the [[Golden Disk (Voyager)|Golden Disk]] he and his cohorts had stolen, is furious, declaring that this world cannot be [[Earth]]. He accuses Megatron of failure, both in battle against the Maximals and in failing to guide them to the right planet. Megatron laughs off Dinobot's accusations, and has Scorponok blast the treacherous Dinobot over the horizon. Megatron informs the other Predacons that it doesn't matter which planet they are on, as they had come looking for energon to fuel their war with the Maximals, and this planet is rich with it. Megatron dispatches his crew to seek out and destroy their enemies.

[[Image:BWPart1 Predsopenfire.jpg|right|180px|thumb|Shouldn't they be seeking cover of some sort?]]
Meanwhile, the Maximals are surveying the land around them and cleaning up the wreckage on the ''Axalon''. Rattrap complains about all the fuss over the Golden Disk, but Optimus Primal reminds him that the Disk is Cybertron's most closely guarded relic, a guide to a major source of energon, which is why Megatron stole it. Rattrap doesn't care, retorting they were supposed to be performing deep-space exploration and that it isn't his job to chase after criminals. He sarcastically speculates on Primal's readiness to handle a command position. Optimus further reminds him of the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]], noting that if the Predacons are able to secure a massive source of energon, they wouldn't hesitate to start a new one. Rattrap isn't convinced.

Deciding to show off (and goof off), Cheetor gives chase to two cheetahs running on the plains near the ship. Optimus tries to call him back, but the energon radiation severely limits the range of their communications equipment.

[[Image:BWPart1 Primalflying.jpg|left|180px|thumb|"I'm a rocket man, rocket man, burnin' out his fuse up here alone."]]
Some distance away, Cheetor's two cheetah buddies are freaked out by a rather large wasp. Realizing it's a '''Robot in Disguise''', Cheetor transforms and fires unprovoked. The Predacon Waspinator transforms and retaliates. Back at the ''Axalon'', the other Maximals move out to give Cheetor backup, with Rhinox ramming his way through a pile of boulders to speed their progress. Waspinator manages to get the better of Cheetor when the Maximal's rifle jams, but fortunately, the other Maximals have arrived by then. Unfortunately, Megatron and the Predacons have arrived as well.

[[Image:BWPart1 coverfire.jpg|right|180px|thumb|"I'll activate my Hero Shield!"]]
Optimus Primal tries to convince Megatron to not engage in hostilities, as the Maximals and Predacons have been at peace for centuries. Megatron spits back that while the Maximals may have been at peace, the Predacons, like all enemies who appear "peaceful", were merely biding their time. The Predacons have never forgotten their goal of galactic conquest, but were merely waiting for the right time to strike.

Both sides transform, and the battle is joined. As the Maximals seek cover, Cheetor is blasted by one of Scorponok's missiles and ends up with his leg trapped under a boulder. Optimus Primal orders Rattrap to assist Cheetor while he provides cover fire, but Rattrap flatly refuses to risk his life for anybody else, to Optimus' anger. The Maximal leader flies to Cheetor's position himself but is hit by Predacon fire, much to Rattrap's smug delight. Nonetheless, Optimus manages to free Cheetor while Rhinox "persuades" Rattrap to help provide the pair with cover fire. With the Predacons now seeking cover of their own, the Maximals make their escape. Megatron orders pursuit, but he and his Predacons succumb to the effects of the energon buildup and are forced to revert to beast mode.

[[Image:BWPart1 bridgefaceoff.jpg|left|180px|thumb|You shall not pass!]]
On the way back to base, Optimus Primal chews out Rattrap for disobeying a direct order, explaining to the petulant Maximal that he could have given better cover fire, an explanation which Rattrap accepts rather grudgingly. Cheetor notes that they seem to have escaped the Predacons. Primal isn't sure, as the Golden Disk theft reports indicated there were six Predacons, but they only encountered five in the previous battle.

They don't have to wait long. Dinobot appears, barring their way across a stone bridge to the ''Axalon''. Dinobot states that he has left the Predacons to join the Maximals... as leader. He challenges Optimus Primal to a one-on-one battle, with the winner to lead the Maximals, the loser to be destroyed!
==Notes==
[[Image:BeastWarsEp1JapanOpen01.jpg|right|300px|thumb|]]
*The Japanese version of this episode begins with a [[Star Wars]]-style scrolling recap of the history of the Transformers, narrated by both the Maximal and Predacon computer voices talking simultaneously. This worked out fairly well, since the episode begins with a placid pan of an outerspace backdrop, followed by a running battle between spaceships, as if it was tailor-made for this kind of parody.
* Before they gain their beast modes, the Maximals and Predacons are shown mostly in shadow. This is probably to save the animators the trouble of coming up with entirely different models for each character. However, if one pays close attention, there are some marked differences to the facial areas shown, and Rattrap's arms are slightly different.
* Megatron, who is seen almost entirely prior to getting his beast form, reuses the body of the Giant Robot from Mainframe's other show, ''ReBoot'', albeit with a few small modifications and Megatron's head slapped on top. The model would continue to be reused, including as Blackarachnia's protoform (again with modifications) and various generic Predacons in "[[The Agenda (Part 1)]]".
* When Rhinox is fixing something outside, the "Gas Bottle" looks like the model sub seen later on in other episodes.
* As this was the first episode, the transformation/catchphrase sequences are rather overbearing by comparison to later episodes of the series.
* If the Beast Warriors are on an "unknown planet", presumably containing animals they've never seen before...how does everybody manage to think up such fitting new beast-mode-based names? (Presumably, not ''all'' information about Earth was off-limits.)
* Throughout this episode and "[[Beast Wars (Part 2)]]", Scorponok's missiles have a Maximal insignia on them, meant to indicate Maximal kills. This confused viewers into thinking that they were mistakenly "Maximal missiles", so the symbols were changed.
* Cheetor has the dual honour of being the first character to appear in ''Beast Wars'', as well as the first character to fire a shot (unprovoked) at the enemy. Cheetor also has the honour of speaking the final words of the Beast Era in the final episode of the ''Beast Wars''' sequel, ''[[Beast Machines (franchise)|Beast Machines]]''.
* During the scene in which the Maximals reveal their new beast modes, it is not clear why they (bar Optimus Primal) had to rename themselves. Maximal military or exploration tradition?
* Dinobot has the distinction of being the first ''Beast Wars'' character to transform into robot mode.
* This episode marks the only instance in the entire series in which Dinobot uses the "Terrorize!" [[activation code]], despite nominally being a Predacon. He would later reprogram himself with the Maximal activation code.
* Waspinator fires pink eye lasers (similar to Dinobot's) during his battle with Cheetor.
* Rattrap is a serious asshole this early in the series.
* The image of a gorilla (Optimus) and a rat (Rattrap) riding on top of a rhino (Rhinox) is ''hilarious''.
* Going by their options for beast modes, it would appear the Maximals crashed in what would become the African continent, while the Predacons crashed in what would become the American continent. This would, however, require that Dinobot's alternate mode is not an actual velociraptor, but rather an american genus of dromaesauridae, as velociraptors are only found in Mongolia.

===Animation and/or technical glitches===
* When Waspinator fights Cheetor, the stripes on his thighs are mapped on the wrong axis.
* As Optimus, Rhinox and Rattrap ride out to give Cheetor support, Rhinox breaks through a "roadblock" of boulders. However, in the previous shot of this location, the boulders were not present.
* When Rhinox picks up Rattrap and swings him around to face the Predacons, Rattrap's gun clips right through the boulder in front of them.
* Scorponok is among the Predacons milling about outside the ship in their beast modes, yet he appears from within the ship to blast Dinobot only a few moments later.
* During the battle between Dinobot and Optimus, Dinobot's spinning blades are severely shortened and misshapen, making them appear to have been chibified.

===Continuity errors===
* Cheetor spends the longest time in the open while in robot mode, but does not suffer the effects of energon overload that the Predacons do.

===Transformers references===
* Optimus Primal mentions the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]], which is what the Transformers of the Beast era called the conflict between the [[Autobot|Autobots]] and [[Decepticon|Decepticons]].
==Synopsis==
[[Image:Nemesis2 Primal and Tigerhawk charge.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Optimus and Tigerhawk conclude that it is better to fight and die than run.]]
[[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] has raised the ''Nemesis'' from its watery grave and has begun a random attack on everything in sight, all the while quoting the [[Covenant of Primus]]. After telling Rhinox to "deploy [[Operation Eternity]]", [[Optimus Primal]] and [[Tigerhawk]] attempt to fight it off, but their weapons don't even scratch the hull. Tigerhawk tells Primal to rally the Maximals and that he will remain to fight. On the ''Nemesis'', [[Dinobot II|Dinobot]] is commenting that his [[spark]] has changed and feels complete. Aspects of [[Dinobot (BW)|the original Dinobot]] begin to emerge. He admires Tigerhawk's defense. Tigerhawk is able to damage power on several decks, limiting Megatron's offensive options to using the fusion cannon, which he uses to destroy Tigerhawk. Going to the [[Protohuman]] settlement, Megatron prepares to destroy it. Dinobot objects, asking where the honor is in such an act, but Megatron fires anyway, killing [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]] and [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] in the process.

[[Image:Nemesis2 Nemesis over Mount St. Hilary.jpg|right|200px|thumb|The Nemesis hovering like some vast, predatory bird over Mount St. Hilary.]]
At [[Mount St. Hilary]], the Maximals are preparing a last-ditch strategy—bring the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] online and fight the ''Nemesis''. However, the ship has been offline too long, and [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] are having trouble restoring power. The ''Nemesis'' arrives, but Tigerhawk's attack has depleted its [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] reserves, and the fusion cannon requires time to recharge. Megatron activates its tractor beam, and Primal enters the ''Nemesis''. He and Megatron duke it out, but the Predacon clearly has the advantage. On the Ark, the Maximals manage to get the engines on line, but they burn out almost instantly. [[Rattrap]] proclaims that they are all going to die, and for once, no one tells him to shut up. Instead, the characteristically stoic Rhinox simply responds with "Yup".

[[Image:Megatron Primal Nemesis 2.JPG|left|200px|thumb|If Optimus can't beat Megatron, what chance do we have?]]
However, Dinobot, disapproving of Megatron's actions, sends a message to the Maximals of an [[Autobot Shuttle Omega Delta|Autobot shuttle]] stored in the Ark. Megatron orders Dinobot to fire, but he refuses, stating that he has his honor. In a last bid to save them all, Rhinox pilots the shuttle on a collision course with the ''Nemesis''' bridge, crashing through the viewport and going out the other side. Optimus urges Dinobot to save himself, but he remains with the ship, biding farewell to Primal. As the ''Nemesis'' crashes, Primal rejoins the Maximals.

[[Image:Nemesis2 Autobot shuttle Earth.jpg|right|200px|thumb|The Beast Wars are over—finished. But [[The Reformatting|it never ends]]!]]
Some time later, the Maximals, having repaired the shuttle and rigged a [[transwarp]] cell to it, leave [[Earth]] for [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Optimus, piloting the ship, declares that the [[Beast Wars (event)|Beast Wars]] are over, and memorializes the Maximals who fell during the war. Rattrap, however, is more happy to be going home and points out that they won't have to see Megatron 'til they get there, as the Predacon is tied to the hull of their shuttle. As the shuttle enters transwarp, the scene shifts to the Protohumans, who have built a village and are using parts of Inferno and Quickstrike in a ritual to celebrate their new leader...[[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]].

In the ultimate act of karma, Waspinator declares that he is "happy at last."
==Quotes==
"'I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come! And you will know my name is Megatron when I lay my vengeance upon you!'"<br />
"You have already read the Covenant of Primus?"<br />
"Just the good parts."
:—'''Megatron''' and '''Dinobot II'''

"I'll say one thing for my namesake, he liked his artillery big and plentiful. Now, where was I? Ah yes, mindless destruction! Good for the spark I always say."<br />
:-'''Megatron''', commenting on the Nemesis' firepower.

"Quickly, go to your fellow Maximals. Prepare them! If Megatron destroys the ''Ark'' and its occupants, history as we know it will unravel."<br />
"You can't stop that thing alone."<br />
"Perhaps, but it is my destiny to try. I will hold the line here. Go!"
:—'''Tigerhawk''' and '''Optimus Primal'''

"Ah, NOOOO!" [''smashes the blast doors''] "This ends here, Megatron. No more good friends will be sacrificed to your insane ambition. I swear it! NO MORE!"<br />
[''entering''] "Uh, you knock?"

"Hmm, I suppose, given my imminent godhood, these primitives should really be beneath my intention. Ah, still, no score is too small to settle, I always say."<br />
[''stops Megatron from activating the weapons''] "You would turn the full fury of this mighty warship on a lone anthropoid?! Tell me, Megatron, where's the honor in that?!"<br />
[''growls''] "You dare use the h-word to me?!"<br />
"I…I apologize. I merely felt our power should be conserved for…the larger battle."<br />

"Well, come on, let's have it. The usual 'destiny and honor' speech."<br />
==Notes==
[[Image:Transwarpcellanimaticnem2.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Yoink!]]
*[[Kid Rhino]]'s Season 3 box set contains an animatic with additional footage cut out from the final episode (presumably to save time). One of the edits shows Optimus Primal tearing out a [[transwarp cell]] from the ''Nemesis'''s control deck prior to telling [[Dinobot II]] to save himself. The transwarp cell is later seen towards the end of the (finished) episode, installed to the controls of the Autobot shuttle, explaining how the Maximals were able to travel through both space and time and return home.
*In an interview, Furman stated he was approached at BotCon 1998 to write a "G1-centric" episode, and worked closely with Bob Forward on what would become "Nemesis" (they originally weren't sure who'd write which part). Various ideas were pitched, but for reasons of budget and a lack of a fourth season meant everything needed to be wrapped up here; one key decision was to ensure the core cast "got a good send off, one that didn't leave them in limbo". Bob would do most of the Dinobot 2 writing. [http://www.bwint.net/interviewsimonfurman.htm]
*In the early plot of the episode, the Maximals successfully launched the Ark instead of an Autobot shuttle. Also, [[Dirge (G1)|Dirge]], [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] and [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] would be reactivated and ram into the Nemesis instead of the Autobot shuttle. This would have possibly explained where the three [[Conehead]]s came from when they suddenly appeared in season two of the original cartoon. This is one of the more popular reasons as to why writer Simon Furman included Dirge as a [[Herald of Unicron]] in [[Worlds Collide]].
*It should be noted that ''had'' Megatron heeded Dinobot and not turned the fusion cannon on the proto-human colony, he would have most likely won the Beast Wars, by the simple fact that it would have been fully charged by the time the [[Nemesis (G1)|''Nemesis'']] reached the Ark (As pointed out by Dinobot, the fusion cannon's reactor was depleted to 65% power when they had arrived) without the Maximals having a chance to prepare in time. In retrospect, this could be why he makes such a big deal about displaying honor [[The Weak Component|later on...]]
*This appears to be the first time that an Optimus loses a tooth in battle, but it would not be the [[Revenge of the Fallen (film)|last]]

===Technical/animation glitches===
*As Tigerhawk is about to be overwhelmed by the fusion cannon, it cuts to a reaction shot by Dinobot, whose "monocle" is on the wrong eye.
*When Optimus returns to the Maximal base and tries to communicate with Tigerhawk, his right wing is missing.
*At one point, Optimus tears his wing off and tosses it to jam the giant grinder mechanisms on the bottom of the ''Nemesis''. However, in the next scene in which he appears, his wing has been replaced with no explanation.
*As the Maximals await their doom inside the Ark and Rattrap comments on how they're "all gonna die", he's missing his robot-mode "backpack".
*Megatron apparently transforms to dragon mode off-screen, transforms back to robot mode on-screen before the scene cuts away, then when next we see him, he is in dragon mode again!
*For most of the episode, Optimus is missing the "blast shields" that he usually wears on either his forearms or shoulders.
* In the final battle scene, Dinobot is flipped horizontally. (See first glitch.)

===Continuity errors===
[[Image:G1Megs Nemesis part2 deletedclip.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Ploink!]]
*Although it was cut from the final episode for time, the script called for Generation 1 Megatron's spark to be removed from BW Megatron and placed back in its proper body before the Maximals leave Earth. This very brief scene was animated and can be seen on Beast Wars Season 3 box sets produced by [[Kid Rhino]] and [[Madman Entertainment]]. It should be noted, however, that despite the cut, Optimus's lines from that segment were still included in the episode, albeit used in a different context.
*In "[[Other Victories]]", Megatron is perplexed by the idea of Tarantulas trying to destroy the Ark and Tigerhawk states that doing so would erase those descended from Autobots and Decepticons. So why is Megatron doing it ''now''? Considering his religious babbling, it comes off like he's gone mad and thinks it'll erase everyone ''but'' him...
*It seems unlikely that the Maximals would leave a Predacon on Earth, even one as incompetent as Waspinator. It's possible they just didn't know he was still alive, though in the ''Beast Machines'' episode "[[The Catalyst]]", Blackarachnia remarks that she was aware that they'd left him stranded on prehistoric Earth.

===Transformers references===
*There is the ''Nemesis'' itself.
*"In the darkest hour, there will be a light," a line from the Covenant of Primus most likely derived from "Light our [[darkest hour]]" in [[The Transformers: The Movie]].
*Speaking of that movie, Primal's declaration of "This has to stop! At any cost" mirrors Optimus Prime's declaration of "Megatron must be stopped! No matter the cost".

===Real-world references===
*The lines Megatron reads from the Covenant of Primus bear some similarities to lines from English translations of the [[Wikipedia:Bible|Bible]] of [[Earth]]'s [[human]]s.
*One of Megatron's Convenant of Primus quotes bears stronger resemblance to the paraphrase of [[Wikipedia:Book of Ezekiel|Ezekiel 25:17]] in the film ''[[Wikipedia:Pulp Fiction|Pulp Fiction]]'' than it does to the original Bible quote.
==Synopsis==
[[Image:Go with the Flow Cheetor kids.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Phineas J. Whoopee, you're a genius!]]
Quietly, [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] sneaks through the forest. He whispers his activation code to switch into his robot mode, and is ambushed by [[Chak]], the [[protohuman]]. Cheetor laughs at his company, and the two are joined by [[Una]], putting Cheetor in a hammer-lock. [[Rattrap]] arrives and makes fun of Cheetor's attempts to teach the primitives self-defense. Cheetor moves on to trying to instruct the kids in basic engineering principles, language, and comedy through self-abuse. On a mountaintop, [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]'s army works to assemble a new, powerful weapon capable of destroying the [[Maximal]]s, but because the "bi-polar energon source" to the device is installed before the shielding, the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]]s can't get near the machine they have erected. In order to complete the weapon, [[Tarantulas]] suggests recruiting the two educated protohumans on whom who he happens to have been spying.

[[Image:Go with the Flow Waspinator Una.jpg|right|200px|thumb|This is one of two operations Una had to do.]]
[[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]] and [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]] attack the two Maximals. Waspinator captures Una and brings her back to Megatron. [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge]] arrives to aid his two allies against Inferno, but with one of the humans captured already, Inferno retreats. The danger gone, Cheetor radios back to the Maximal base to report on the attack. Optimus calls Cheetor home and sends Depth Charge and Rattrap on a mission to retrieve the abducted child.

En route to the Predacon development, Una recalls Cheetor's self-defense lesson, and with her primitive spear, she removes several of Waspinator's wasp-mode limbs. Megatron is entirely unconcerned with the well-being of his underling, but hopes the girl is still in functional condition when she arrives. Once she is dropped off, Megatron orders the [[disruptor cannon]] fired on just low enough a setting to knock Rattrap and Depth Charge out of the sky. But even at a low setting, the unfinished weapon causes harm to the Predacons, forcing Megatron to order it shut down.

Depth Charge and Rattrap crash-land in a forest, lucky to be alive, but Depth Charge is no longer flight-capable. Rattrap leaves the manta and races off on his own to finish rescuing the damsel. Megatron begins his plot and instructs Una on how to install the shielding that the energy weapon needs in order to function. Una experiments in using the shielding plates as both fashion accessories and cuisine, but doesn't entirely comprehend the meaning of each of his precise instructions. After a fancy screen transition to show the passing of time, Una has completed the shielding installation in an adorably haphazard manner. As a final step, she installs the stabilizer crystal.

[[Image:Go with the Flow Rattrap Una.jpg|left|200px|thumb|This is the second one.]]
Rattrap arrives to save the girl and stop Megatron, but [[Dinobot II|Dinobot]] prepares to devour the intruder. Tarantulas approaches Una to kill her, too. She squashes the spider by knocking over a huge piece of machinery, but then falls off her platform. Rattrap drives through Dinobot's legs and transforms in time to catch the girl. Together, the two drive out of the Predacons' territory.

At the site where Depth Charge crashed, Una helps Rattrap unearth Depth Charge by recommending that he use a lever. With
teamwork, they slide Depth Charge into a lake and then use the giant Maximal as a raft to ride away from the attacking Predacons. They escape from their pursuers by falling down a waterfall, tossing mud in Waspinator's face so he flies blindly into Inferno. The combined airborne mess of Predacons then lands on the Dinobot clone.

[[Image:GowiththeFlow Sunset.jpg|right|200px|thumb|I can't believe we've gone this far without making a "monkey throws poop" joke!]]
Megatron prepares to fire the disruptor cannon and destroy his enemies. As the massive gun charges, the Maximals prepare for the worst. But the machine malfunctions, and instead of destroying the Maximals, it explodes in place—because Una stole the stabilizer crystal. With the Predacons slagged, Una and the two Maximals float into the sunset.
==Notes==
===Technical and animation errors===
*When Rattrap says, "...and die horrible, agonizing deaths!" before they crash into the forest, Depth Charge is also mouthing the words.
*When Depth Charge hits the rocks at the base of the waterfall (immediately before Dinobot says "Target immobilized!"), his right flipper very briefly clips through another nearby rock.
*Rhinox is looking through the parascope at the the mountain, while the image is displayed on almost all of the screens at the Maximals' base.

===Continuity errors===
*Dinobot slices Rattrap's tail, but later it seems to be full-length as Rattrap uses it to paddle Depth Charge.

===Transformers references===
*Rattrap's interaction with Depth Charge is somewhat reminiscent of his ongoing rivalry with the deceased [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]].

===Real-world references===
*"This Bot tries for positive programming." "Time to change channels, frisky!" These lines are references to human television.

===Trivia===
*Why didn't Inferno just wait until Waspinator had finished installing the shielding plate before plugging in the main power source?
*[[Cybertronix]]:
**On Cheetor's blackboard: Seemingly random letters and numbers
**On Megatron's first piece of graphics showing the firing of the cannon: "SCREAMIN ROCKS", "A BIG GUN IN A MOUNTAIN", "FIRE".
**And again, shortly before the fatal firing: "DEREK", "NIKKI DAWN", "HOT STUFF".
*Shortly after Depth Charge crashes, a puff of smoke appears to emit from Rattrap's, er, tailpipe.
*In a moment of apparent premonition, Cheetor's spark chamber pops open just before the alarms start sounding.
*This episode was used in place of the planned episode "[[Dark Glass]]".
*The moral of the episode is, effectively, "It's good to steal."
*When Rattrap rescues Una from falling, Silverbolt's 'rescue' theme plays.
* Richard Newman is not credited for playing Rhinox in this episode. Presumably because his one line of a calm and earnest "Oh no." is something Rhinox has said before and is quite probably just lifted from that earlier episode.
