Shockwave is a Decepticon in the Generation One universe. He was also briefly known as Shockblast.

Shockwave has been referred to as "a computer on legs." This is not far from the truth. Logic rules Shockwave's thought processes and is the source of his every inspiration. He sees emotions as a weakness and a distraction. His cold and calculating modus operandi is supported by his frightening and exceptionally powerful form.

Shockwave is possibly even more powerful than Megatron, who he appears to be loyal to. However, perhaps logic dictates that the time to replace Megatron's flawed, emotion-fueled rule has yet to occur.

Japanese name: Laserwave <br>
Voice Actor: Corey Burton (US), (Japan)

Shockwave was a highly ranked Decepticon during the G1 era. His alternate form was a large, flying laser gun. His alternate form is thought to be even stronger than Megatron's. Despite what his toy-bio says, he is also fanatically loyal to Megatron.

He typically oversees all the Decepticon activity on Cybertron, rarely leaving the planet. His keen scientific mind resulted in several incredible devices, including the Space Bridge and a time machine.

He may have survived the battle against Unicron but, if so, apparently lost face with Galvatron for losing Cyberton to the Autobots during the battle. He can be spotted in group shots in season three, but these shots are notorious for animation errors such as depicting combiner robots alongside component robots. Shockwave's post-season three status is up for speculation.

Gruff and ornery, he prefers actions to words, and dislikes talk for talk's sake. (He wouldn't enjoy being paired up with Bluestreak.) But though he may be rough around the edges, he's still optimistic and upbeat. The upside to being through more than your share of trouble means trouble ain't so big a scare anymore.

In Transformers: The Movie, Ironhide was on a shuttle along with a group of other Autobots headed for earth when the shuttle was attacked by Megatron and a team of Decepticons. Ironhide bravely fought off the Decepticons, but was not powerful enough to stop the enemy, and he was mercilessly killed by Megatron.
At first, only Soundwave seemed to be able to create the empty cubes from the frame on his chest. Later, though, all manner of Transformers were seen to store energon as cubes, including the Autobots.

Another aspect of the cubes disappeared early in the series: Originally, energy was converted and filled up pink-coloured cubes. Three cubes would then be flattened together to make a 'rainbow'-coloured cubes. Soon enough, though, the series would always show cubes as solid pink.
In Beast Wars, it seems that energon cubes also occurred naturally, as a 'stable' form of natural energon. However these were a fraction of the size of the G1 Energon Cubes and seemed to be solid Energon rather than a cube containing it.

Energon is the preferred fuel/energy source of Transformers. It has also been shown as a food source, currency and sometimes even ammunition.

Typically, Energon is highly explosive. Even a small amount of damage could cause Energon to detonate fiercely.

The safest way to transport Energon is when it is condensed into the form of an Energon Cube. In this form Energon is more stable, but still quite dangerous.

Pure Energon consists of several molecules (a macromolecule?) one of which contains the element actually named Energon, which cannot be syntherized. The whole macromolecule is often refered to simply as "Energon."

The element Energon is required for the creation of 'pure' Energon. This implies that 'impure' Energon can be manufactured without the element Energon, but is still refered to as Energon because of its similar physical properties.

In the first season of Beast Wars, Energon Crystals were introduced. This variety had a number of new properties, not the least of which being that extended exposure to it could cause permanent damage to any Transformer that was currently in its robot mode. Most of the Crystals were lost when the Vok decided to destroy the planet.

Transmetals are a mutated, and greatly enhanced, form of Transformer who appeared in the Beast Wars series.

As a result of being basked in an alien Transwarp Wave, several Transformers who were not born on earth, or in the Cr-Chambers/Baths at the time(Cheetor, Rattrap, Megatron, Tarantulas, and, later, Optimus Primal, Rampage, and Depth Charge) became Transmetals.

In beast mode, a Transmetal is more superficially mechanical then his or her previous beast incarnation, and the Transmetals typically have an extra "mobility" form, such as Cheetor's jets or Rattrap's wheels. Also, most Transmetals have additional weapons and enhanced strength. To go even further, Transmetals are immune to many Vok weapons, and possibly immune to the effects of Energon Crystals as well (this last point had little bearing on the plot, since most of the Energon had been destroyed by the Planet Smasher cannon).

A peculiar aspect of the Transmetallization process was the "inversion" of the Transformer's body. While the beast mode became almost wholly mechanical, the robot mode bore some organic elements, particularly Cheetor's furry chest, and Rattrap's exposed "brain."

Transmetal 2
Near the end of the series, a new breed, known as Transmetal 2 appeared. These new forms blurred the line between mechanical and organic further, with equal parts of both appearing in both modes in an asymmetrical patchwork. This often resulted in a somewhat monstrous looking design. The specific process by which each Transformer became a Transmetal 2 varied. Cheetor, Dinobot (2), and Blackarachnia all were altered by what was known as the "Transmetal Driver", an enigmatic piece of Vok technology apparently altered by Megatron to suit his own purposes. Megatron's form was altered when he merged his spark with that of G1 Megatron's, similar to Optimal Optimus. Tigerhawk was apparently built as-is by the Vok. No other Transmetal 2s appeared in the Beast Wars series, though a number of other toys were produced. These new forms were all considered to be substantially more powerful than a normal Transmetal's. Unlike Transmetals, most Transmetal 2s did not have a third mode. Tigerhawk and Megatron, both higher price-point toys, did have third modes, but they are not considered by most to be very well implemented, and these were not used in the show.

Decepticlones are the common enemies in the Transformers (PS2) video game. Their exact origin is unrevealed though the course of the game. They provide the role of generic baddies, as no other drones existed in Armada at the time. A Decepticlone toy in the Attacktix line has been announced.

Decepticlones are largely autonomous and display no individual intellect. Also, most Clones show signs of transforming in the course of the game. Due to their sheer number, they have allowed Megatron to nearly conquer all of Cybertron!

Decepticlone Classes
*Light Unit:
Small purple Decepticlones. Due to their small size and limited combat potential, they are typically used for manual labor.

*Medium Unit:
Larger orange units. They make up the vast bulk of the Decepticlone attack force.

*Heavy Unit:
Massive red clones. They are few in number, but staggeringly powerful. Armed with a wide variety of weapons.

*Command Unit:
Medium-large sized, incredibly dangerous silver units. They often appear in large groups of smaller units. Their increased mobility and teleportation makes them dangerous enemies. They favor short ranged weapons.

*Spider Tank:
Slow-moving, four legged tanks with a turret ontop. Spider Tanks are heavilly armored and their powerful laser cannon has two modes of fire: a basic, weak shot, and a powerful, charged bolt of energy.

*Guerilla Units:
Large, gorilla-shaped Decepticlones. They carry EMP cannons which can short out weapons, and have advanced hand-to-hand combat skills. Some models come equpped with stealth camouflage, rendering them hard to see without the aid of a Minicon.

*Rollarm Units:
The only Decepticlone type capable of transformation, they convert into rolling wheels to cover great distances at high speed, and are equipped with powerful dual energy cannons. Similar to the Droideka of Star Wars fame.

*Jet Snipers/Jet Lasers:
These flying Decepticlones have two different attack patterns. The Jet Lasers patrol areas in squads while hovering, while the Jet Snipers sit and wait for targets to cross their line of fire, then attack with their powerful sniper rifles.

*Artillery Units:
Hovertanks that are designed to launch heavy explosive rounds far distances. They lack short-range weapons, but have powerful shields should enemies get too close.

*Sentry Drones:
Small floating orbs that keep an eye out for Autobots and raise alarms upon contact. They are very lightly armed, but fast.

*Drop Ships:
Large flying ships. They carry no weapons, but can produce other Decepticlone soldiers if alerted. They have tremendous defensive power.

24.26.25.60: /* Toyline Overview */

Overview
Returning to their cartoon roots, the Autobots and Decepticons
wage war over Energon, a powerful energy resource, while the
specter of Unicron looms in the background.

The Autobots, gifted with the Spark of Combination, can fuse
into Powerlinx combinations of two mighty warriors. The
Decepticons, upgraded into new bodies by the power of Unicron,
can convert to stronger, deadlier hyper-modes.

The Mini-Cons of the previous Armada line still exist, but have
lost their prominence. Taking their place as allies of the
two major factions are the energon-mining Omnicons, able to
shape raw energon into tools and weapons for the Autobots,
and the swarms of drone Terrorcons who fight alongside the
Decepticons.

Toyline Overview
There are Mini-Cons, and Basics, combination, articulation,
and clear Energon weapons with 5mm pegs that all but a few
figures can hold. Nearly all alternate modes are futuristic
vehicles or robotic animals. Robot modes are angular and
mechanical-looking.

Energon was also a line of throwbacks. As in the Beast era,
all new-mold figures have Spark Crystals to display their
allegiance. Like Armada, most have at least a few
Mini-Con hardpoints. Finally, homages to G1 are frequent
and obvious in the Energon toy designs.

Optimus Prime and Megatron once again lead the
factions, and continue their respective sides' emphases
on combination and hyper-mode augmentation. Just how
they do this, of course, is better reserved for their
specific articles.

The Basic-sized Omnicons and Terrorcons come with clear
Energon weapons and 'Energon stars' or 'Energon cells' that can be attached
over their Spark Crystals. Stars and weapons are red and pink for
Omnicons and green and yellow for Terrorcons. Transformations are
quite innovative and robot modes are well-articulated.

Deluxe and Mega Autobots, besides transforming from vehicle
to robot, can also become the top or bottom
half of a 'Powerlinx' combination robot. While it was
not widely advertised, the two size classes can freely
inter-combine, with occasionally ludicrous results. The
need to combine did compromise the articulation, stability,
and appearance of many Autobot figures.

Ultra Autobots each include transforming bases and can
combine with these for 'Brute Mode', as can Deluxe
Tow-Line.

Deluxe, Mega, and Ultra Decepticons are fitted with
'hyper modes'. These usually involve hidden weapons
which pop out when properly triggered, like the Armada
gimmicks, but unlike Armada in that Mini-Cons are not
needed. Some of these modes are elaborate enough to
become genuine 'third modes', as in Shockblast and
Scorponok.

This line also saw the release of updated Scramble City-style
combiners, in which four Basic-sized limbs join a Deluxe core.
The Autobots had one such combiner; the decepticons two.
Each had a unique core design and two unique limbs. Each limb
was recolored once to make the necessary four. The limb figures
all came with add-on weapons and Energon Stars, cast in blue
clear plastic, and these weapons formed the hands or feet of the
combined robot.

In general, this line's Decepticons maintained most of the
play value of Armada's hidden weapons. While the Autobots lost
much of this, they gained the ability to combine. Both sides'
articulation in robot mode improved over Armada. Finally, the
standardized Energon weapons formed a sort of construction set
for creative play. Energon was certainly an extensive and
varied line.
