Somewhere along the outer rim of the galaxy, a contingent of [[Autobot]]s led by [[Rodimus Prime (Animated)|Rodimus Prime]] defends [[space bridge 687-030]] against the [[Decepticon]]s' "[[Team Chaar]]", led by [[Strika (Animated)|Strika]]. She, [[Oil Slick (Animated)|Oil Slick]] and [[Cyclonus (Animated)|Cyclonus]] strafe [[Brawn (Animated)|Brawn]], [[Ironhide (Animated)|Ironhide]] and [[Hot Shot (Animated)|Hot Shot]], badly injuring Hot Shot's leg and forcing team medic [[Red Alert (Animated)|Red Alert]] to perform an amputation. Before she can do so, however, she is swallowed up by [[Spittor (Animated)|Spittor]], who explosively vomits her back at her team. Rodimus contacts the [[Elite Guard]] for backup, but the Autobot forces are spread much too thin, defending space bridges from Decepticon attacks all across the galaxy. Oil Slick and Cyclonus proceed to take down Brawn and Ironhide, leaving Rodimus on his own, at which point Blackout arrives and all but finishes the fight with a huge electromagnetic pulse. Rodimus still has some fight left in him, but it drains away when Oil Slick offlines him with a vial of [[Cosmic Rust (disease)|Cosmic Rust]]. Strika contacts [[Shockwave (Animated)|Shockwave]] on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], who informs her that nobody is to TransWarp to the planet until [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] himself arrives. But Megatron was supposed to be there megacycles ago...

Off in the depths of space, the disembodied head of [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] attempts to remove Megatron's stasis cuffs with his teeth as the Decepticon leader berates him all the while. As Starscream begins bellowing back at Megatron, the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] fragment in his forehead begins to glow, and he undergoes a surprising transformation: His mouth converts into a sonic blaster that shoots the cuffs clean off Megatron's wrists. There is no time for the two villains to celebrate, however, as the giant form of [[Omega Supreme (Animated)|Omega Supreme]] materializes above them. But after a moment, Megatron realizes that the colossus is offline...

On [[Earth]], as the Autobots return to [[Detroit]], [[Isaac Sumdac|Professor Sumdac]] explains [[Sari Sumdac|Sari's]] origins to her as best he can, revealing that he discovered her in his laboratory years ago, in the form of a small, liquid metal robot. Sari finds the story hard to believe, and her strained patience reaches its end when the group returns to [[Sumdac Tower]] and confronts [[Porter C. Powell]] and [[Henry Masterson]]. Powell tries to smooth things over with Isaac, but Masterson's belligerent attitude dispels any attempts at peace, which is further ruined when he demands the Autobots return his Headmaster, or "heads will roll". Having entered the lab from the elevator behind them, Optimus picks up Masterson and asks for clarification on his threat. Isaac immediately fires both Powell and Masterson, but Masterson refuses to vacate the premises, and Powell takes another shot at Sari's disputed parentage. In a moment of anger, Sari's hands transform into energy projectors that hurl the two men into the building's elevator. This newest revelation pushes Sari over the edge, and she walks out on the man she can no longer even think of as her father, returning to the Autobots' base with her "fellow robots". While [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] examines Sari—deducing that she's basically human, but partially Cybertronian—Prowl departs to carry out some research of his own. With Ratchet lost in his memories of [[Arcee (Animated)|Arcee]], [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] head back to the Decepticons' destroyed mine base to salvage some equipment that will let them contact Cybertron and inform the Autobots there of the traitor in their midst.

On a small planetoid somewhere in space, [[Blurr (Animated)|Blurr]] is still trapped in a cement blob with Starscream's [[Thundercracker (Animated)|egomaniacal]] and [[Skywarp (Animated)|cowardly]] clones. Blurr proposes using sonic pulses to dissolve the glue, and the egomaniac takes the idea for his own and successfully frees them. Blurr immediately speeds off, launching into space and literally running across the galaxy, ricocheting off everything in his path (including the egomaniac) to get back to Cybertron and inform the Elite Guard of Megatron's invasion plan.

Megatron and Starscream force their way into Omega Supreme's body, but this action brings the giant Autobot back online, and his internal systems immediately seize the Decepticons. Megatron exploits Omega's simple processor and convinces the titan to take him back to Cybertron "to face justice". Omega transforms back into ship mode and TransWarps off toward Cybertron.

Back on Earth, Bumblebee and Bulkhead are searching through the ruins of the mine when Bumblebee discovers a [[Plasmadynamic thruster|plasmadynamic thruster]] space bridge component that abruptly TransWarps him away. While Bulkhead is wondering where his buddy went, he is suddenly attacked by Henry Masterson, who recovered his Headmaster unit and Starscream's headless body from the mine the night before.

At Sumdac Tower, Prowl shadows Sumdac into his laboratory, quickly accesses his computers, and scans the scientist in an attempt to learn more about Sari's origins. Ratchet is having distinctly less luck back at the Autobot base, where Sari refuses to let him perform an exploratory surgery. The whole unpleasant affair reminds Ratchet of his past on Cybertron, when he performed open-processor surgery on Arcee and discovered she was carrying the codes that were key to the creation of Omega Supreme. Prime snaps Ratchet out of his flashback with the news that he cannot contact Bumblebee and Bulkhead, and Ratchet heads out to the mine to investigate.

With the other Autobots busy, Optimus Prime tries to patch up the Sumdac family feud by surreptitiously opening a comm channel to Professor Sumdac's laboratory and explaining loudly and at length to Sari that he is going to take her to [[Burger Bot]]. Sumdac catches on and heads out to meet them there, but Sari is furious at being set up and refuses to talk to him. Unfortunately, the Headmaster soon arrives, having picked up Prime's phone call through bugs left in Sumdac Tower, and threatens to unleash t0t47 0wN4ge!

Optimus Prime engages the Headmaster, binding him with his grapplers and dragging him around the Burger Bot parking lot before taking a moment to usher the Sumdacs to safety behind a dumpster. The fight carries the two combatants to an overhead roadway and back, with the Headmaster eventually downing Prime with a slab of concrete. Sumdac is forced to take action, and he hides Sari within the dumpster so that he can draw the Headmaster's attention and keep her safe. Touched by this, Sari unleashes her energy projectors on the Headmaster in defence of her father, though they do little to the villain other than draw his attention. Prime rejoins the battle just in time, ramming the villain in truck mode and goading the Headmaster into trying to transform Starscream's body as well. Infuriated by Prime's claim that a n00b such as he would find it difficult, the Headmaster tries to meet the challenge... only to find his Headmaster unit squeezed clean off Starscream's body by the transformation process. As Starscream's lifeless carcass spirals off into the river, the Headmaster is apprehended by Prime and handed over to [[Captain Fanzone]].

Back at Sumdac tower, Prowl reveals his findings to Prime, Sari and Sumdac: He believes that the body Sumdac found in his lab was, in fact, a Cybertronian [[protoform]] that scanned Professor Sumdac's genetic data. Sari takes the revelation in stride, although everyone else remains mystified as to how a protoform wound up on Earth in the first place. There is no time to dwell on the subject, however, as Ratchet radios Prime to inform him of Bulkhead's injuries and Bumblebee's disappearance.

Out in space, Omega Supreme re-emerges from TransWarp, and his systems all power down, having been sapped of energy by the effort of the teleport. Megatron attempts to escape from the confines of the giant Autobot's body, but without his weapons, he is unable. Starscream's new sonic blaster is similarly ineffective, and Megatron instead schemes to take control of Omega's very body.

On Cybertron, Shockwave (in the form of Longarm Prime) is informed by [[Cliffjumper (Animated)|Cliffjumper]] that the space bridge network has been shut down to prevent a Decepticon invasion of the planet. Suppressing his frustration, Shockwave is promptly presented with an outlet for his anger when Blurr comes streaking out of the sky and crashes at his feet. Blurr informs him of the double-agent on Cybertron, whom he plans to identify by cross-referencing his voice-print with the Cybertron intelligence database, and Shockwave immediately attacks the speedster, intent on silencing him before his cover can be blown. Blurr streaks off into a series of nearby corridors, but his speed fails to carry him beyond Shockwave's reach: Using a control console, Shockwave seals off the tunnels, and Blurr is crushed between two walls.

Back on Earth, Ratchet's treatment of Bulkhead is interrupted by Sari, who volunteers use of her Key to fix the larger Autobot's wounds. Ratchet is indignant, insisting that just because something is new, it doesn't make it better, but Bulkhead requests the Key. While Sari goes to work on Bulkhead's injuries, the sullen medic is overtaken by his memories; he recalls the creation of Omega Supreme and how he was partnered with the newborn titan to serve as his mentor, teacher and friend. Ratchet is roused from his unpleasant trip down memory lane when discussion turns to the whereabouts of Bumblebee, and before long, Bulkhead figures out that the plasmadynamic thruster has TransWarped Bumblebee off across the galaxy. Bulkhead suggests using a retrieval beacon generator recovered from the mine ruins to pinpoint Bumblebee's location, and Sari uses her Key to fix it before Ratchet can even begin examining it.

Aboard Omega Supreme, Megatron uses his stasis cuffs to "hotwire" Omega's body and bring it back online. However, when the light from Omega's "headlights" falls upon a nearby asteroid, Megatron and Starscream are shocked to see the rock react to the light, transforming into a humanoid monster that immediately attacks the ship! As more asteroids transform around him, Omega TransWarps away to safety...only for Bumblebee, cruising on the tail end of Omega's TransWarp field, to materialize in his place, right in the midst of the rock creatures! The largest creature swallows the tiny Autobot with a single gulp.

Simultaneously, on Earth, Bulkhead locks in on Bumblebee's position and teleports him back, but the rock creature he is inside comes with him and is immediately driven to a rampage by the blinding light of the [[Sun]]. Optimus Prime detects Bumblebee's signature within the creature, and the Autobots prepare to give chase as the alien stomps off through the city. Prowl is rather taken aback to see Ratchet wearing his EMP generator on his arm once more, while Prime has to deal with Sari's demands that she be allowed to join them in the fight now that she has powers. Prime refuses, and the Autobots zoom off after the rock monster, but Sari won't take no for an answer and is struck with inspiration: Give herself an upgrade! Sari concentrates, and a port opens in her chest, into which she inserts her Key...and in an explosion of energy, Sari's whole body transforms into a taller, older form, suited in combat armor!

Meanwhile, Megatron has discovered that Omega Supreme has again expended all his power, and his stasis cuffs do not have the energy left to rectify the situation. He grabs Starscream's head and jams it into the circuits, where the traitor's AllSpark fragment energizes Omega's systems once more.

Back in Detroit, the Autobots are attempting to figure out how to stop the rock creature without hurting Bumblebee, when the upgraded Sari comes streaking onto the scene on jet skates. As the Autobots look on in shock, Sari begins attacking the alien with arm-blades and an energy-hammer that morph out of her arms. A single strike of the hammer reduces the alien to boulders, freeing Bumblebee, who is immediately struck by Sari's new look, but then shouts a warning: The smaller boulders surrounding the pair have transformed into small creatures. But the creatures pose no threat to Sari, and she pounds them into pebbles. As Sari basks in her triumph, Ratchet realizes with horror that she has used the Key on herself. The elderly Autobot's concern is soon proven valid, as the Key overloads Sari's systems, and she loses control of her body. With Sari attacking everything and everyone around her, the Autobots attempt to stop her with a variety of non-lethal strategies, but Sari counters everything they throw at her, including Prowl's processor-over-matter technique. Even as Prime and Sari tell Bumblebee to keep back, the young Autobot races to his friend's side...only for the out-of-control Sari to stab him through the chest! Frozen for a horrific moment, Bumblebee is then hurled back by an energy discharge, and the light dims from his optics...

===Part III===
Ratchet leaps to Bumblebee's aid, but without Sari's Key, Bulkhead fears his little buddy is done for. Ratchet denies that he requires the key to do his job, but his memories of when he was forced to place the dying Omega Supreme in stasis haunt him as he begins to operate on Bumblebee.

Sari, meanwhile, is storming through the city streets, causing objects to explode when she comes into contact with them, and the Autobots head after her, seeking to remove the Key in hopes of bringing her back under control. They corral her with a wall of steel girders, affording Prowl the chance to get the drop on her and rip the Key from her chest, but Sari continues to rampage. With Bumblebee fading, Ratchet goes back on his previous claim and requests the Key be brought to him, but when Prowl complies, he discovers that the energy of the Key has been completely drained. Prowl assures Ratchet that he can accomplish the task without the Key, and the old medic gravely takes up the challenge and manages to bring Bumblebee back online.

Back with Sari, Prime and Bulkhead, Sari's energies are growing increasingly more out of control, as the street beneath her explodes with every step she takes. Bulkhead suggests just trying to "hold it in," but when Sari tries, things get even worse, as she begins to glow with so much energy that she is on the verge of exploding. Optimus summons Ratchet so that he can use his EMP generator to take Sari down, and while Ratchet is hesitant to do so, Sari begs him to stop her. Ratchet fires, and Sari collapses, her energy fading.

On Cybertron, Longarm Prime has Cliffjumper dispose of the crushed remains of Blurr and is then contacted by Megatron. Learning that the space bridge network is down and that the Earth-based Autobots are poised to blow Shockwave's cover, Megatron orders the Decepticons to cease their attacks on the space bridges so that he can solve both problems his own way. Team Chaar receive the transmission and fall back, much to the Elite Guard's surprise.

In the Autobots' base, Ratchet completes a rewiring of Sari's systems, bypassing the circuits that caused her to run out of control. Professor Sumdac soon arrives, having been informed of the location of the base by Optimus Prime. The Autobots are a little upset by this, but Prime makes it clear that there are to be no more secrets in this "family". The Autobots step outside the plant to give the Sumdacs some time together, and are in the middle of catching Bumblebee up on recent events when the small Autobot suddenly begins to glow with TransWarp energies once more. Bulkhead quickly deactivates the plasmadynamic thruster, but the source of the TransWarp wave the thruster was picking up soon becomes apparent, as Omega Supreme materializes in the sky overhead. Much to the Autobots' surprise, the titan fires upon them before transforming to robot mode, revealing a projected image of Megatron's face upon his visor! The Decepticon leader is in complete control of Omega's body and begins attacking the Autobots, forcing Optimus Prime to consider unleashing an uncontrollable Sari on the giant. Before resorting to this desperate last resort, the Autobots attempt to lure Megatron away from the city. Ratchet even upgrades Bumblebee's stingers to a more powerful battle grade for the mission.

Taking refuge in the nearby river, the Autobots attack Omega's legs, forcing open an access hatch through which Prime and Prowl enter Omega's body. Battling Omega's internal defences, Prowl taps into Omega's processor in order to help him fight off Megatron's control, and they succeed in forcing Megatron out of the system. Prime engages Megatronin order to keep Prowl safe, but as their battle rages, Starscream seizes control of Omega's mind and forcibly disconnects Prowl from Omega's processor. Prime and Prowl are unceremoniously ejected from Omega Supreme's body, but Starscream is not finished there; he uses Omega's internal defences to seize Megatron, and resumes attacking the Autobots all around him. Megatron manages to talk Starscream into an alliance, suggesting they forget Earth and conquer Cybertron together. Starscream struggles to activate Omega's TransWarp system, and while his attention is occupied with this task, Omega's consciousness fights its way to the surface and begs Ratchet to shut him down again. Ratchet regretfully unleashes his EMP generator upon Omega, but it has no effect, and Starscream transforms Omega into starship mode in order to begin the TransWarp. Bulkhead and Bumblebee hit upon the idea to plant the plasmadynamic thruster on Omega Supreme, and they hand it off to Prime to complete the task. Prime plants the thruster at the last second before Omega disappears into TransWarp, and Ratchet catches Prime with his magnets as he falls out of the sky.

Back at the Autobot base a little later, Sari comes to and admits to Ratchet that he was right about taking it slow. Sumdac apologizes for holding back the truth from Sari for so long, and Bumblebee thanks Ratchet for saving his tailpipe. Unfortunately, Bulkhead brings the mood down by reminding everyone that they still have to find a way to contact Cybertron.

On Cybertron, [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] holds an Autobot council and announces that all the evidence points to a double agent on Cybertron. Longarm Prime implicates escaped convict [[Wasp]], and Ultra Magnus instructs [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]] and [[Jazz (Animated)|Jazz]] to put together a unit to hunt the fugitive down. Magnus also notes that he has to make contact with Optimus's crew on Earth, and Longarm hastily demands that all contact with them be filtered through him, responding to the council's wary looks by adding that it will be purely for security reasons.

In the sky above Cybertron, Omega Supreme materializes, and Starscream howls with glee...only for the Autobot spaceship to TransWarp away immediately to another random point in space...and another...and another...

Somewhere along the outer rim of the galaxy, a contingent of [[Autobot]]s led by [[Rodimus Prime (Animated)|Rodimus Prime]] defends [[space bridge 687-030]] against the [[Decepticon]]s' "[[Team Chaar]]", led by [[Strika (Animated)|Strika]]. She, [[Oil Slick (Animated)|Oil Slick]] and [[Cyclonus (Animated)|Cyclonus]] strafe [[Brawn (Animated)|Brawn]], [[Ironhide (Animated)|Ironhide]] and [[Hot Shot (Animated)|Hot Shot]], badly injuring Hot Shot's leg and forcing team medic [[Red Alert (Animated)|Red Alert]] to perform an amputation. Before she can do so, however, she is swallowed up by [[Spittor (Animated)|Spittor]], who explosively vomits her back at her team. Rodimus contacts the [[Elite Guard]] for backup, but the Autobot forces are spread much too thin, defending space bridges from Decepticon attacks all across the galaxy. Oil Slick and Cyclonus proceed to take down Brawn and Ironhide, leaving Rodimus on his own, at which point Blackout arrives and all but finishes the fight with a huge electromagnetic pulse. Rodimus still has some fight left in him, but it drains away when Oil Slick offlines him with a vial of [[Cosmic Rust (disease)|Cosmic Rust]]. Strika contacts [[Shockwave (Animated)|Shockwave]] on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], who informs her that nobody is to TransWarp to the planet until [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] himself arrives. But Megatron was supposed to be there megacycles ago...

Off in the depths of space, the disembodied head of [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] attempts to remove Megatron's stasis cuffs with his teeth as the Decepticon leader berates him all the while. As Starscream begins bellowing back at Megatron, the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] fragment in his forehead begins to glow, and he undergoes a surprising transformation: His mouth converts into a sonic blaster that shoots the cuffs clean off Megatron's wrists. There is no time for the two villains to celebrate, however, as the giant form of [[Omega Supreme (Animated)|Omega Supreme]] materializes above them. But after a moment, Megatron realizes that the colossus is offline...

On [[Earth]], as the Autobots return to [[Detroit]], [[Isaac Sumdac|Professor Sumdac]] explains [[Sari Sumdac|Sari's]] origins to her as best he can, revealing that he discovered her in his laboratory years ago, in the form of a small, liquid metal robot. Sari finds the story hard to believe, and her strained patience reaches its end when the group returns to [[Sumdac Tower]] and confronts [[Porter C. Powell]] and [[Henry Masterson]]. Powell tries to smooth things over with Isaac, but Masterson's belligerent attitude dispels any attempts at peace, which is further ruined when he demands the Autobots return his Headmaster, or "heads will roll". Having entered the lab from the elevator behind them, Optimus picks up Masterson and asks for clarification on his threat. Isaac immediately fires both Powell and Masterson, but Masterson refuses to vacate the premises, and Powell takes another shot at Sari's disputed parentage. In a moment of anger, Sari's hands transform into energy projectors that hurl the two men into the building's elevator. This newest revelation pushes Sari over the edge, and she walks out on the man she can no longer even think of as her father, returning to the Autobots' base with her "fellow robots". While [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] examines Sari—deducing that she's basically human, but partially Cybertronian—Prowl departs to carry out some research of his own. With Ratchet lost in his memories of [[Arcee (Animated)|Arcee]], [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] head back to the Decepticons' destroyed mine base to salvage some equipment that will let them contact Cybertron and inform the Autobots there of the traitor in their midst.

On a small planetoid somewhere in space, [[Blurr (Animated)|Blurr]] is still trapped in a cement blob with Starscream's [[Thundercracker (Animated)|egomaniacal]] and [[Skywarp (Animated)|cowardly]] clones. Blurr proposes using sonic pulses to dissolve the glue, and the egomaniac takes the idea for his own and successfully frees them. Blurr immediately speeds off, launching into space and literally running across the galaxy, ricocheting off everything in his path (including the egomaniac) to get back to Cybertron and inform the Elite Guard of Megatron's invasion plan.

Megatron and Starscream force their way into Omega Supreme's body, but this action brings the giant Autobot back online, and his internal systems immediately seize the Decepticons. Megatron exploits Omega's simple processor and convinces the titan to take him back to Cybertron "to face justice". Omega transforms back into ship mode and TransWarps off toward Cybertron.

Back on Earth, Bumblebee and Bulkhead are searching through the ruins of the mine when Bumblebee discovers a [[Plasmadynamic thruster|plasmadynamic thruster]] space bridge component that abruptly TransWarps him away. While Bulkhead is wondering where his buddy went, he is suddenly attacked by Henry Masterson, who recovered his Headmaster unit and Starscream's headless body from the mine the night before.

At Sumdac Tower, Prowl shadows Sumdac into his laboratory, quickly accesses his computers, and scans the scientist in an attempt to learn more about Sari's origins. Ratchet is having distinctly less luck back at the Autobot base, where Sari refuses to let him perform an exploratory surgery. The whole unpleasant affair reminds Ratchet of his past on Cybertron, when he performed open-processor surgery on Arcee and discovered she was carrying the codes that were key to the creation of Omega Supreme. Prime snaps Ratchet out of his flashback with the news that he cannot contact Bumblebee and Bulkhead, and Ratchet heads out to the mine to investigate.

With the other Autobots busy, Optimus Prime tries to patch up the Sumdac family feud by surreptitiously opening a comm channel to Professor Sumdac's laboratory and explaining loudly and at length to Sari that he is going to take her to [[Burger Bot]]. Sumdac catches on and heads out to meet them there, but Sari is furious at being set up and refuses to talk to him. Unfortunately, the Headmaster soon arrives, having picked up Prime's phone call through bugs left in Sumdac Tower, and threatens to unleash t0t47 0wN4ge!

Optimus Prime engages the Headmaster, binding him with his grapplers and dragging him around the Burger Bot parking lot before taking a moment to usher the Sumdacs to safety behind a dumpster. The fight carries the two combatants to an overhead roadway and back, with the Headmaster eventually downing Prime with a slab of concrete. Sumdac is forced to take action, and he hides Sari within the dumpster so that he can draw the Headmaster's attention and keep her safe. Touched by this, Sari unleashes her energy projectors on the Headmaster in defence of her father, though they do little to the villain other than draw his attention. Prime rejoins the battle just in time, ramming the villain in truck mode and goading the Headmaster into trying to transform Starscream's body as well. Infuriated by Prime's claim that a n00b such as he would find it difficult, the Headmaster tries to meet the challenge... only to find his Headmaster unit squeezed clean off Starscream's body by the transformation process. As Starscream's lifeless carcass spirals off into the river, the Headmaster is apprehended by Prime and handed over to [[Captain Fanzone]].

Back at Sumdac tower, Prowl reveals his findings to Prime, Sari and Sumdac: He believes that the body Sumdac found in his lab was, in fact, a Cybertronian [[protoform]] that scanned Professor Sumdac's genetic data. Sari takes the revelation in stride, although everyone else remains mystified as to how a protoform wound up on Earth in the first place. There is no time to dwell on the subject, however, as Ratchet radios Prime to inform him of Bulkhead's injuries and Bumblebee's disappearance.

Out in space, Omega Supreme re-emerges from TransWarp, and his systems all power down, having been sapped of energy by the effort of the teleport. Megatron attempts to escape from the confines of the giant Autobot's body, but without his weapons, he is unable. Starscream's new sonic blaster is similarly ineffective, and Megatron instead schemes to take control of Omega's very body.

On Cybertron, Shockwave (in the form of Longarm Prime) is informed by [[Cliffjumper (Animated)|Cliffjumper]] that the space bridge network has been shut down to prevent a Decepticon invasion of the planet. Suppressing his frustration, Shockwave is promptly presented with an outlet for his anger when Blurr comes streaking out of the sky and crashes at his feet. Blurr informs him of the double-agent on Cybertron, whom he plans to identify by cross-referencing his voice-print with the Cybertron intelligence database, and Shockwave immediately attacks the speedster, intent on silencing him before his cover can be blown. Blurr streaks off into a series of nearby corridors, but his speed fails to carry him beyond Shockwave's reach: Using a control console, Shockwave seals off the tunnels, and Blurr is crushed between two walls.

Back on Earth, Ratchet's treatment of Bulkhead is interrupted by Sari, who volunteers use of her Key to fix the larger Autobot's wounds. Ratchet is indignant, insisting that just because something is new, it doesn't make it better, but Bulkhead requests the Key. While Sari goes to work on Bulkhead's injuries, the sullen medic is overtaken by his memories; he recalls the creation of Omega Supreme and how he was partnered with the newborn titan to serve as his mentor, teacher and friend. Ratchet is roused from his unpleasant trip down memory lane when discussion turns to the whereabouts of Bumblebee, and before long, Bulkhead figures out that the plasmadynamic thruster has TransWarped Bumblebee off across the galaxy. Bulkhead suggests using a retrieval beacon generator recovered from the mine ruins to pinpoint Bumblebee's location, and Sari uses her Key to fix it before Ratchet can even begin examining it.

Aboard Omega Supreme, Megatron uses his stasis cuffs to "hotwire" Omega's body and bring it back online. However, when the light from Omega's "headlights" falls upon a nearby asteroid, Megatron and Starscream are shocked to see the rock react to the light, transforming into a humanoid monster that immediately attacks the ship! As more asteroids transform around him, Omega TransWarps away to safety...only for Bumblebee, cruising on the tail end of Omega's TransWarp field, to materialize in his place, right in the midst of the rock creatures! The largest creature swallows the tiny Autobot with a single gulp.

Simultaneously, on Earth, Bulkhead locks in on Bumblebee's position and teleports him back, but the rock creature he is inside comes with him and is immediately driven to a rampage by the blinding light of the [[Sun]]. Optimus Prime detects Bumblebee's signature within the creature, and the Autobots prepare to give chase as the alien stomps off through the city. Prowl is rather taken aback to see Ratchet wearing his EMP generator on his arm once more, while Prime has to deal with Sari's demands that she be allowed to join them in the fight now that she has powers. Prime refuses, and the Autobots zoom off after the rock monster, but Sari won't take no for an answer and is struck with inspiration: Give herself an upgrade! Sari concentrates, and a port opens in her chest, into which she inserts her Key...and in an explosion of energy, Sari's whole body transforms into a taller, older form, suited in combat armor!

Meanwhile, Megatron has discovered that Omega Supreme has again expended all his power, and his stasis cuffs do not have the energy left to rectify the situation. He grabs Starscream's head and jams it into the circuits, where the traitor's AllSpark fragment energizes Omega's systems once more.

Back in Detroit, the Autobots are attempting to figure out how to stop the rock creature without hurting Bumblebee, when the upgraded Sari comes streaking onto the scene on jet skates. As the Autobots look on in shock, Sari begins attacking the alien with arm-blades and an energy-hammer that morph out of her arms. A single strike of the hammer reduces the alien to boulders, freeing Bumblebee, who is immediately struck by Sari's new look, but then shouts a warning: The smaller boulders surrounding the pair have transformed into small creatures. But the creatures pose no threat to Sari, and she pounds them into pebbles. As Sari basks in her triumph, Ratchet realizes with horror that she has used the Key on herself. The elderly Autobot's concern is soon proven valid, as the Key overloads Sari's systems, and she loses control of her body. With Sari attacking everything and everyone around her, the Autobots attempt to stop her with a variety of non-lethal strategies, but Sari counters everything they throw at her, including Prowl's processor-over-matter technique. Even as Prime and Sari tell Bumblebee to keep back, the young Autobot races to his friend's side...only for the out-of-control Sari to stab him through the chest! Frozen for a horrific moment, Bumblebee is then hurled back by an energy discharge, and the light dims from his optics...

===Part III===
Ratchet leaps to Bumblebee's aid, but without Sari's Key, Bulkhead fears his little buddy is done for. Ratchet denies that he requires the key to do his job, but his memories of when he was forced to place the dying Omega Supreme in stasis haunt him as he begins to operate on Bumblebee.

Sari, meanwhile, is storming through the city streets, causing objects to explode when she comes into contact with them, and the Autobots head after her, seeking to remove the Key in hopes of bringing her back under control. They corral her with a wall of steel girders, affording Prowl the chance to get the drop on her and rip the Key from her chest, but Sari continues to rampage. With Bumblebee fading, Ratchet goes back on his previous claim and requests the Key be brought to him, but when Prowl complies, he discovers that the energy of the Key has been completely drained. Prowl assures Ratchet that he can accomplish the task without the Key, and the old medic gravely takes up the challenge and manages to bring Bumblebee back online.

Back with Sari, Prime and Bulkhead, Sari's energies are growing increasingly more out of control, as the street beneath her explodes with every step she takes. Bulkhead suggests just trying to "hold it in," but when Sari tries, things get even worse, as she begins to glow with so much energy that she is on the verge of exploding. Optimus summons Ratchet so that he can use his EMP generator to take Sari down, and while Ratchet is hesitant to do so, Sari begs him to stop her. Ratchet fires, and Sari collapses, her energy fading.

On Cybertron, Longarm Prime has Cliffjumper dispose of the crushed remains of Blurr and is then contacted by Megatron. Learning that the space bridge network is down and that the Earth-based Autobots are poised to blow Shockwave's cover, Megatron orders the Decepticons to cease their attacks on the space bridges so that he can solve both problems his own way. Team Chaar receive the transmission and fall back, much to the Elite Guard's surprise.

In the Autobots' base, Ratchet completes a rewiring of Sari's systems, bypassing the circuits that caused her to run out of control. Professor Sumdac soon arrives, having been informed of the location of the base by Optimus Prime. The Autobots are a little upset by this, but Prime makes it clear that there are to be no more secrets in this "family". The Autobots step outside the plant to give the Sumdacs some time together, and are in the middle of catching Bumblebee up on recent events when the small Autobot suddenly begins to glow with TransWarp energies once more. Bulkhead quickly deactivates the plasmadynamic thruster, but the source of the TransWarp wave the thruster was picking up soon becomes apparent, as Omega Supreme materializes in the sky overhead. Much to the Autobots' surprise, the titan fires upon them before transforming to robot mode, revealing a projected image of Megatron's face upon his visor! The Decepticon leader is in complete control of Omega's body and begins attacking the Autobots, forcing Optimus Prime to consider unleashing an uncontrollable Sari on the giant. Before resorting to this desperate last resort, the Autobots attempt to lure Megatron away from the city. Ratchet even upgrades Bumblebee's stingers to a more powerful battle grade for the mission.

Taking refuge in the nearby river, the Autobots attack Omega's legs, forcing open an access hatch through which Prime and Prowl enter Omega's body. Battling Omega's internal defences, Prowl taps into Omega's processor in order to help him fight off Megatron's control, and they succeed in forcing Megatron out of the system. Prime engages Megatronin order to keep Prowl safe, but as their battle rages, Starscream seizes control of Omega's mind and forcibly disconnects Prowl from Omega's processor. Prime and Prowl are unceremoniously ejected from Omega Supreme's body, but Starscream is not finished there; he uses Omega's internal defences to seize Megatron, and resumes attacking the Autobots all around him. Megatron manages to talk Starscream into an alliance, suggesting they forget Earth and conquer Cybertron together. Starscream struggles to activate Omega's TransWarp system, and while his attention is occupied with this task, Omega's consciousness fights its way to the surface and begs Ratchet to shut him down again. Ratchet regretfully unleashes his EMP generator upon Omega, but it has no effect, and Starscream transforms Omega into starship mode in order to begin the TransWarp. Bulkhead and Bumblebee hit upon the idea to plant the plasmadynamic thruster on Omega Supreme, and they hand it off to Prime to complete the task. Prime plants the thruster at the last second before Omega disappears into TransWarp, and Ratchet catches Prime with his magnets as he falls out of the sky.

Back at the Autobot base a little later, Sari comes to and admits to Ratchet that he was right about taking it slow. Sumdac apologizes for holding back the truth from Sari for so long, and Bumblebee thanks Ratchet for saving his tailpipe. Unfortunately, Bulkhead brings the mood down by reminding everyone that they still have to find a way to contact Cybertron.

On Cybertron, [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] holds an Autobot council and announces that all the evidence points to a double agent on Cybertron. Longarm Prime implicates escaped convict [[Wasp]], and Ultra Magnus instructs [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]] and [[Jazz (Animated)|Jazz]] to put together a unit to hunt the fugitive down. Magnus also notes that he has to make contact with Optimus's crew on Earth, and Longarm hastily demands that all contact with them be filtered through him, responding to the council's wary looks by adding that it will be purely for security reasons.

In the sky above Cybertron, Omega Supreme materializes, and Starscream howls with glee...only for the Autobot spaceship to TransWarp away immediately to another random point in space...and another...and another...

In the year 2010, Cybertron received a Mini-Con homing beacon from a small primitive world known as [[Earth]], unwittingly activated by a group of human children. Megatron led his most loyal Decepticon warriors to this planet in search of the Mini-Cons, only to discover his arch-enemy [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] had followed to stop him. {{storylink|First Encounter|First Encounter}}

After a tactical retreat, it was revealed that the Decepticons had established a base in the ruined hulk of the Mini-Con ship on Earth's [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]. Activating it, he discovered it contained his old Mini-Con partner, [[Leader-1 (Armada)|Leader-1]]. Counting upon this as his edge over the Autobots, he reconfigured the vehicle modes of his forces and set out to capture the human children and their Mini-Con friends. After surrounding them, he was thwarted yet again by the timely arrival of Optimus Prime and the other Autobots. Through the machinations of his tactician, [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]] (who was at the time indirectly being manipulated by [[Unicron]]), Megatron then acquired the final weapon, the [[Requiem Blaster]], which with the other two served to power the newly-built [[Hydra Cannon]]. The destructive force of his new weapon was unleashed against Earth, but Optimus Prime took the blast to save the planet, killing himself in the process.

Prime's death plunged Megatron into a deep depression, having lost his greatest opponent without the chance to finish him with his own hands. Thankfully for all concerned, the Mini-Cons were able to resurrect Optimus, restoring Megatron to his former self - but he soon underwent another change that allowed him to surpass all he had been, when he was among the Transformers who had their powers boosted by their Mini-Cons. Renaming himself "Galvatron," he returned to Cybertron with a renewed vigor for conquest. However, the emergence of the threat of Unicron was ignored by Galvatron, forcing his lieutenant [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] to sacrifice himself to make his leader see the truth, and Galvatron again came to fear the end of his war in the face of Unicron's power.

Galvatron entered Unicron's body along with Optimus Prime, and was absorbed into the demi-god's body and mind, but when the Autobots' human allies freed the Mini-Cons from Unicron's thrall, Galvatron too was freed. Believing the threat of Unicron to be over, he challenged Prime to a final duel. However, the energies released in the battle reawakened Unicron, and Galvatron saw that the only way to end the circle was to destroy himself - sacrificing his life rather than live in an era of peace, Galvatron plunged himself into Unicron's maw, and in a flash, the two seemingly ceased to exist.

Although he was believed dead by both the Autobots and Decepticons, Megatron, like Unicron, had survived the final battle, his body now a decayed husk, absorbed into the equally damaged body of Unicron, where it lay for ten years. When the being called [[Alpha Quintesson]] began his plan to re-energize Unicron, Megatron saw his opportunity, siphoning off some of the [[Energon (Energon)|energon]] that Alpha Q's [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcons]] stole, working towards his own rebirth. To turn the Decepticons to his side, Alpha Q forged a sword from Megatron's [[spark]], but when an enraged [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]] stabbed Megatron's corpse with the blade, Megatron was born anew. Taking the sword for his own, he proceeded to take over Unicron's body, sending Alpha Q fleeing in Unicron's head, {{storylink|Megatron Resurrected|Megatron Resurrected}} and restarted his campaign against Earth and the Autobots, seeking energon to reactivate Unicron, who he would use as the ultimate weapon.

Megatron eventually succeeded in bringing Unicron to the vicinity of Cybertron and transforming the planet-eater to robot mode. However, in an attempt to stop him, Alpha Q rammed Unicron's head, charged with the positive energon of Earth, into Unicron's body. The resultant reaction between Earth's energon and the negatively-charged energon that powered Unicron tore [[Rift (Energon)|a rupture in reality]] that led to [[Alpha Q's universe|a new region of space]] {{storylink|Ripped Up Space|Ripped Up Space}} where Alpha Q recreated all the planets Unicron had consumed. Megatron immediately saw these new worlds as targets to acquire more energon, and after another series of attacks, Megatron successfully amassed enough to fully reanimate Unicron. {{storylink|Optimus Supreme|Optimus Supreme}} However, the Autobots managed to destroy Unicron's body for good, and the Chaos Bringer's consciousness invaded Megatron's body, taking over his mind. {{storylink|Unicron Perishes|Unicron Perishes}}

Although [[Optimus Supreme]] was able to destroy Unicron's body, his mind lived on, buried within Megatron, subtly directing him to attack Cybertron and uncover a reservoir of Super Energon beneath the planet's surface. {{storylink|Ambition|Ambition}} Megatron immersed himself in the powerful liquid and underwent another power boost, once again taking the name of Galvatron. {{storylink|Wishes|Wishes}} Quickly acquiring control of the planet, he forced the Autobots underground with energon gas and used the planet's Energon Towers to relocate Cybertron to [[Alpha Q's universe|Alpha Q's region of space]]. {{storylink|Formidable|Formidable}} Once there, Galvatron once again soaked himself in Super Energon, growing to a colossal height, {{storylink|Destructive Power|Destructive Power}} but as he did so, Unicron's influence totally seized control of his mind and directed him out into space to re-merge with his spark. Enraged by Unicron's manipulations, Galvatron intended to destroy Unicron's spark, but wound up being possessed by it once more. Ten years later, Primus's plan to imprison Unicron's spark at the heart of the sun ultimately failed, leading the star to collapse, creating a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] which threatened the existence of Cybertron, and the rest of the universe. Escaping his confinement within the sun, Megatron enhanced his powers by merging his body with the remnants of Unicron's shattered form, increasing his power with the dark god's own.

As the Autobots prepared to evacuate Cybertron in the wake of disasters caused by the black hole, Megatron struck, approaching the unprotected ancient Transformer [[Vector Prime]], and stealing a holographic map containing locations of the [[Cyber Planet Key|Cyber Planet Keys]] that could be used to seal the black hole. Operating out of a fiery pocket dimension, Megatron schemed to used the world-shaping power of the Cyber Planet Keys and their focal [[Omega Lock]] to accelerate the universal degeneration created by the black hole, destroying the universe and using the keys to remake it in his own image.

Leaving [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] and [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]] to search for the Omega Lock on Earth, Megatron located the resting place of the first Cyber Planet Key on [[Velocitron]], the Speed Planet. Recruiting the native troublemakers [[Ransack (Cybertron)|Ransack]] and [[Crumplezone (Cybertron)|Crumplezone]] to do his bidding, he deduced that the planet's racing trophy was the key. After failing to defeat planet ruler [[Override (Cybertron)|Override]] in a race to learn more, however, he left Ransack and Crumplezone to compete in tournaments and win the trophy and turned his attention to the [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]], home of the second Cyber Planet Key, where he ingratiated himself with planet ruler [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]]. Both missions ultimately ended in failure, however, when the Autobots acquired the keys.

Attempting to find the third key, Megatron discovered that he had been betrayed by Starscream when the planet map - in reality, a duplicate switched out by Starscream - led him to a dead sector of space and sealed him within a metallic sphere. Scourge was able to liberate him a short time later, but in that time, Starscream had obtained the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth, for himself, along with the Omega Lock and other keys. Megatron made a beeline for his treacherous lieutenant, but was intercepted by the Autobots [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]], [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] and [[Scattorshot (Cybertron)|Scattorshot]], who intended to hold him off until the other Autobots could stop Starscream. Starscream's attempts to harness the Earth Key, however, caused a release of its energies which endowed Megatron with a new Cyber Key power - the "Death Machine Gun," which he used to mow down the Autobots in his path.

The Autobots managed to retake the keys from Starscream, but a further attack from Megatron saw the Decepticon leader steal them out from under Optimus Prime's nose and retreat into his pocket dimension. Prime pursued him through the portal and defeated him in a pitched battle, reacquiring the lock and returning to Cybertron. As Megatron attempted to follow him, Vector Prime combined his portal-opening powers with the Cyber Planet Keys and collapsed Megatron's dimension in upon itself, destroying the villain.

This was not to be the end for Megatron, however, as the power of his Unicron armor sustained him as a ghost-like entity composed of pure darkness. In this state, he rematerialized on Cybertron and used Unicron's reformatting powers to upgrade the injured Crumplezone into Dark Crumplezone. As he came under attack from the Autobot [[Overhaul (Cybertron)|Leobreaker]], his regeneration completed and his physical body was restored, even as he used the remainder of the lingering darkness to create an evil doppleganger of Leobreaker, [[Nemesis Breaker]], out of the Autobot's own dark thoughts. Merging with Nemesis Breaker to form Dark Claw Mode, Megatron battled Optimus Prime and Leobreaker's Savage Claw Mode and made a further play for the Omega Lock, until news of the location of the fourth and final Cyber Planet Key led him to withdraw.

Guided through a spatial warp by the mysterious [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] to [[Gigantion]], the Giant Planet, home of the final key, Megatron engaged the world's leader, [[Metroplex (Cybertron)|Metroplex]], in battle. Much to his surprise, however, he was utterly defeated in seconds. Consumed with rage, the power of Unicron within his armor reached out and detected the energies of the Giant Planet's Cyber Planet Key, drawing upon them and infusing Megatron's body with them. Attacking the Autobots in a dark, shadowed form, he decimated most of their forces before being confronted by Optimus Prime and completing his transformation - once again, Megatron had become Galvatron.

After taking revenge on Metroplex, Galvatron joined the race to acquire the Giant Play key, which included a rematch with the reborn Hot Shot, Red Alert and Scattorshot. Yet again, the Autobots were able to acquire the key, but Galvatron then stole the completed Omega Lock, only to be attacked by Starscream, who battled with Galvatron for possession of the artifact. At first it seemed as if his former commander would finally succeed in destroying him, but the thought of losing to Starscream was too big of a blow to Galvatron's ego, and he gained a second wind. In the final clash between the two most powerful decepticons, Galvatron ultimately claimed victory in the battle, with the sheer amount of energy released in the clash actually blasting Starscream (along with [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]] and Soundwave, who were trying to nick the lock) into another universe. With the lock and keys now in his hands, Galvatron attacked Primus and returned to the Black Hole, where he was confronted and finally defeated by the five planet leaders, right before they returned the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys to Primus, whose Spark was then restored and who used the Ark to finally seal the black hole for good.

Having had ultimate power torn from his grasp, Galvatron contemplated giving up. He was then spoken to by Starscream's spirit, who said that if he was to give up just like that, then he was "no Unicron." Starscream vanished but stayed as a memory. His crown, left floating in space after his demise, came to Galvatron, who clenched it close. He realized that his former lieutenant was right and decided to continue his conquest (presumably keeping the crown as a trophy). He challenged Optimus Prime to one final duel. Battling on Cybertron's moon, Galvatron generated a massive blade of dark energy, which Prime countered with Vector Prime's sword. As the two old enemies charged towards each other in a final strike, Prime impaled Galvatron, whose body crumbled and dissolved as he met his end once and for all.

In a montage sequence at the conclusion of the series, however, Galvatron's evil proved eternal, as, beyond the veil of time and space, his spark battled with that of Vector Prime.

One million years ago, Cybertron was at relative peace. Most Transformers were nothing more than citizens of the planet, the Autobot army simply guarded the majestic [[Cyber City]], and no one had heard of "Decepticons." The standard-sized Transformers lived alongside villages of the smaller-sized Mini-Cons, and all of them were caught unawares by the sudden rise of Megatron. He and his soldiers came seemingly out of nowhere, sweeping through Mini-Con villages and performing horrible experiments on the diminutive Transformers. The Decepticons had discovered how to rewire Mini-Cons to interface with them, drawing power from their new slaves. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 1|Dreamwave Armada issue 1}}

After capturing all but [[Sparkplug (Armada)|a]] [[Air Defense Mini-Con Team|handful]] of Mini-Cons, Megatron and his enhanced troops assaulted Cyber City, defeating the Autobots in a single battle. But while Optimus Prime's forces retreated, the rogue Mini-Cons infiltrated Decepticon headquarters and spirited all of their imprisoned brethren away in a [[Exodus|spaceship]]. To Megatron's great consternation, the ship fled from Cybertron to [[Earth|parts unknown]]. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 2|Dreamwave Armada issue 2}}

Despite this loss, the Decepticons still held the power of the Mini-Cons they had been using in the battle of Cyber City, and this gave them continual combat superiority. Cybertron was completely unprepared for Megatron's assault; thousands of citizens submitted themselves to slavery. Megatron's rule brought chaos and injustice, and while the Autobots never gave up their fight, they had to resort to guerrilla tactics from underground bases. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 3|Dreamwave Armada issue 3}}

At some point, Prime would recall having heard about Megatron for the first time while he (Prime) was still in [[Cybertronian Military Academy|military academy]]. Prime said that the rumors surrounding Megatron were positive: that he was an unbeatable warrior with an unrivalled intellect. But Megatron soon turned his abilities against the Cybertronian governments, raising the Decepticon army in a march of conquest. After Prime's first field mission, he witnessed Megatron's ruthlessness in the form of a devastated energon refinery filled with the dead and dying. Prime claimed that this experience cemented his desire to defeat Megatron at all costs. {{storylink|More Than Meets The Eye (Armada)|More Than Meets The Eye: Armada}}

There is no known reason for Prime to have lied about his memories, but since he may have made those statements even a million years after the fact, perhaps allowances can be made for false recollections.}}

For a million years, the war raged on Cybertron, but when [[Rad White|some]] [[Alexis|human]] [[Carlos Lopez|children]] stumbled upon the crashed Mini-Con ship and activated a distress beacon, the conflict took a new turn. The Decepticons, controlling Cybertron's communications satellites, intercepted the signal and mounted a [[Space bridge|spacebridge]] assault on Earth. Meanwhile, the Autobots, having hacked into the communications system, also saw the signal and made a spacebridge trip of their own. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 2|Dreamwave Armada issue 2}} The two forces inevitably clashed, but at last the Autobots were able to gain the upper hand when some of the reactivated Mini-Cons lent their power to fight the Decepticons. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 4|Dreamwave Armada issue 4}}

Megatron, however, was undeterred by the Mini-Cons' newfound resistance. In addition to the Mini-Cons he had maintained lordship over for millennia, Megatron also gained control of the [[Air Defense Mini-Con Team|Air Defense Team]] and their [[Star Saber (Armada)|Dark Saber]] combination. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 6|Dreamwave Armada issue 6}} But he couldn't keep control of it, as he lacked respect for its power. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 7|Dreamwave Armada issue 7}} He later attempted to seize control of the Mini-Con Moon Base and its inhabitants; rushing in without thinking, he gave [[Leader-1 (Armada)|Leader-1]] the means to seal him in a security room and almost torture him to death. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 11|Dreamwave Armada issue 11}}

He came out of this with the [[Destruction Mini-Con Team]] as his prisoners, only to find they had a failsafe in their systems that gave out both unfettered power and incredible pain to anyone linking to them by force. Having tasted that power, Megatron was unwilling to let it go, and so actually made a deal with [[Dualor]] in return for it, {{storylink|Fire & Ice|Fire & Ice}} ''even though'' he knew they'd end up betraying him. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 13|Dreamwave Armada issue 13}}

At some point, Megatron somehow gained even more power and a new paint job, rechristening himself "Galvatron." By itself, this new form was more powerful than his old body ''with'' Mini-Con enhancement. Still refusing to accept any limits, Galvatron discarded Leader-1 and sought to create the ultimate Mini-Con in his place. He began with [[Clench (Armada)|Clench]] and "upgraded" him with parts extracted from other victims. Clench took to his servitude gladly, grateful for the power of his new body. This was just one example of Galvatron's increased ability to manipulate those around him to serve his own ends. Sadly for his allies, this came with an even greater disregard for anyone and anything besides his own quest for physical enhancement. {{storylink|More Than Meets The Eye (Armada)|More Than Meets The Eye: Armada}}

When [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] suddenly vanished, Megatron led an attack on Autobase, critically wounding [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Smokescreen]] in the process. This was disrupted by the machinations of [[Unicron]], whose heralds took out the Decepticons' Cybertron base and Earth forces. Megatron fought a vicious battle to the death with the herald [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], whom he dismembered with the help of the Air Defense Team as the Star Saber. {{storylink|Worlds Collide|Worlds Collide}}

Regrouping after this, he formed an alliance with the returned Optimus to get "payback." The Decepticons joined the Autobots and Mini-Cons in battling Unicron, who emerged from another dimension via a portal close to Cybertron. While almost all of the Transformers were pouring their efforts into a direct assault, Megatron covertly flew to Unicron's surface with the intent of striking a deal. Just as he was landing, [[Over-Run (Armada)|Over-Run]] opened the [[Mini-Con Matrix]] and dealt Unicron a critical blow. Megatron changed his plan to simple looting, but before he could even begin, [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]], [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]], and [[Scavenger (Armada)|Scavenger]] shot him at pointblank range in revenge for Smokescreen. As the dimensional portal closed back around Unicron, Megatron was pulled helplessly into the Chaos-Bringer's departing body. {{storylink|The End|The End}}

Though his body was meticulously and painfully disassembled and cannibalized by Unicron's defense systems, his consciousness survived within Unicron's spark core. In secret, he constructed a new body for himself and, after teleporting Optimus Prime into Unicron and convincing him to shut down some sensors, returned to Earth and destroyed [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]]. [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]] was worried that Megatron would kill him too, but Megatron told him that he wanted him alive so that he could tell everyone that he had returned.

Each of them failed in various embarrassing ways, then lied about it afterward in an attempt to defend their failures.

One of his abductees was Megatron, bearing the tank-based form he took after first arriving on Earth. Megatron found himself alongside [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] and [[Optimus Primal]], and all three were dropped into a cauldron (possibly ''the'' [[Cauldron]]). '''Starscream''' is disillusioned by his leader [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]]. It took a while for Starscream to come to grips with Megatron's faults, but there's no turning back. Megatron doesn't respect him, doesn't appreciate him, and would casually toss Starscream's life away if it got him something he wanted. If following Megatron is the school of hard knocks, then Starscream is the valedictorian—but not without a few scars. Starscream may have once been compassionate, he may once have known what true friendship is, but all that has been replaced, scab for scab, with the lessons of Megatron's abuse.

Unwittingly, Megatron may have created a monster even he cannot ultimately control.

Starscream's nominal [[Mini-Con]] partner is [[Swindle (Armada)|Swindle]], though he has been seen to work with [[Zapmaster]].

Accompanying Megatron's forces to [[Earth]], Starscream was deliberately made to be the last of the Decepticons to acquire a personal partner Mini-Con. Infuriated by this mistreatment, Starscream's resentment and hatred of Megatron made him a chink in the armor of the Decepticons that could be easily exploited by the manipulative [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]]. {{storylink|Rebellion}}

Initially, Sideways coerced Starscream into a duel with Megatron, which he promptly lost. A short time later, [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]], acting under the instructions of Sideways, further exploited Starscream by making him the patsy in his latest plan. Starscream was given the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]] and allowed to run riot to draw the [[Autobot|Autobots]] out of their base, but was then abandoned on the battlefield so that the other Decepticons could invade the base and steal the [[Requiem Blaster]]. {{storylink|Sacrifice}}

Surviving to return to the Decepticon base, Starscream went on a rampage with the sword and disowned the Decepticons, siding up with the wary Autobots, not out of any desire to do good, but simply out of sheer hatred for Megatron. After a clash with [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] and a trip to [[Mars]] with [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], Starscream befriended the Autobots' [[human]] allies, particularly [[Alexis]], and then gave the Autobots access to the Decepticon base, resulting in a raid that freed all the captive Mini-Cons. Starscream's defection was not a smooth process, however; he constantly clashed with his new teammates over morals and battle strategies, but nonetheless proved a capable and, on at least some level, willing Autobot. {{storylink|Regeneration}} {{storylink|Rescue}} {{storylink|Mars (episode)|Mars}}

Soon thereafter, Sideways and Thrust approached Starscream, planting seeds of doubt in his mind. This eventually caused him to steal the [[Skyboom (Armada)|Skyboom shield]] from the Autobots and return to the Decepticon fold (for a chance to defeat Megatron by working from the inside), giving the Decepticons possession of all three Mini-Con weapons. {{storylink|Crack}}

As Megatron readied his new super weapon to attack Earth, Starscream began to suffer a serious moral crisis. He had returned to the Decepticons but he still viewed those he'd left behind on Earth as his friends, and was torn between following orders, and a desire not to harm them. At times he found compromises, for instance, as Optimus led an attack to stop Megatron using the three Mini-Con weapons, Starscream, currently battling Jetfire, spotted one of the Decepticons sneaking up on Prime. Starscream then attacked Jetfire, allowing himself to be thrown away, and collided with the Decepticon who would have attacked Prime.

Subsequently, Starscream was among the Transformers injured battling [[Nemesis Prime (Armada)|Nemesis Prime]], and who then received "[[Powerlinx]]" power boosts from their Mini-Cons. Starscream gained a new, blue coloration that he commented made him look like his contemporary, [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]], with disgust just ''dripping'' from his tone. Returning to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Starscream pursued Thrust into the depths of the planet when the turncoat tactician revealed his treachery by stealing the Requiem Blaster and Skyboom shield. Starscream took a fatal shot from the Requiem Blaster as he battled Thrust in the subterranean tunnels, but the Mini-Con [[High Wire (Armada)|High Wire]] used his powers to restructure the timeline, saving Starscream (and throwing the human kids back in time, and.. well, it's confusing). Thrust escaped and delivered the weapons to Sideways and his master, [[Unicron]], presently disguised as Cybertron's moon. Following Thrust through a warp gate and briefly reuniting with Alexis, Starscream entered the belly of the beast along with Hot Shot and [[Wheeljack (Armada)|Wheeljack]], but the unlikely trio were stymied by Unicron's [[Dead End Drone|internal defenses]] and failed to stop Sideways from using the weapons to begin Unicron's reactivation.

Megatron—now Galvatron—was unwilling to acknowledge Unicron's threat, dismissing it as an Autobot trick, but Starscream knew the threat was real, and that only united under a true leader like [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]—whose strength of character and nobility had touched Starscream during his time with the Autobots—could the Transformers hope to stop him. To show Galvatron the error of his ways, he challenged him to a duel in which he allowed Galvatron to run him through with the Star Saber. Galvatron realized what happened and demanded to know what possessed Starscream to do such a thing.

Starscream told him that he tried to gain Galvatron's respect, but nothing was ever good enough, no matter how many battles he fought, his leader always found fault. Optimus Prime treated his men with respect, and was thus a leader of integrity, unlike Galvatron. But that didn't matter anymore, and after tearing the Star Saber out with his bare hands, Starscream turned his full firepower onto Unicron. The Chaos Bringer promptly obliterated him, to the shock of both Galvatron and Optimus Prime. When the dust settled, Galvatron stood reflecting upon Starscream's last words, and as a gesture, handed his enemy the Star Saber.

Unfortunately, Sideways ran off with it two seconds later. But it's the thought that counts.

Ten years after Starscream's death, when Megatron seized control of Unicron's body by ousting its former occupant, the alien being [[Alpha Quintesson]], the evicted extra-terrestrial needed an assassin to eliminate Megatron so that he could return to his original task of recreating the worlds destroyed by Unicron. Using what little [[Energon (Energon)|energon]] he had left, Alpha Q recreated another victim of Unicron—Starscream. However, Alpha Q ran out of energon before the process could be completed, leaving Starscream incomplete—his memory blank, and his body unstable, constantly shifting from a physical to an ethereal form, able to teleport by "ghosting" from location to location. {{storylink|Megatron Raid}}

Alpha Q unleashed Starscream upon [[Ocean City]], where he battled Optimus Prime and then tracked Megatron back to Unicron's body. Even his awesome new abilities proved no match for the Decepticon leader, who used Unicron's power to brainwash Starscream, turning him into his right-hand man and most loyal subordinate. Rather ironically, Megatron now treated Starscream with far more respect than previously, even entrusting him with some of the most difficult missions. Later, when Megatron became Galvatron again through immersion in a subterranean reservoir of [[super energon]] on Cybertron, Starscream was allowed to do the same as a reward for his loyalty; the influx of power stabilized his physical form, while allowing him to retain his teleporting powers. When Galvatron was subsequently possessed by Unicron, [[Primus]] used the super energon to create a sun, and Galvatron plunged himself into it in order to contain Unicron's spark within it. A decade after [[the Powerlinx Battles]] (as they were called), when [[Primus]]'s plan to contain Unicron's spark at the core of the energon sun failed, the sun collapsed, becoming a deadly [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] that threatened Cybertron. Along with Megatron, Starscream was freed from the sun, his mind his own once more and his body refurbished into yet another new form. He had no memory at all of what happened, but then it seems no one did.

Megatron began his campaign to acquire the legendary [[Cyber Planet Key|Cyber Planet Keys]] by stealing the map that showed their locations from the ancient Transformer, [[Vector Prime]] while Starscream created a diversion that kept the other Autobots busy. During the fight, Starscream sent [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]] tumbling into the black hole, but Vector Prime saved him at the last moment, opening a dimensional gate that teleported him to Earth. {{storylink|Fallen (episode)|Fallen}} The Autobots and Decepticons followed, and when it was deduced that the Cyber Planet Keys' focusing device, the [[Omega Lock]], was hidden somewhere on the planet, Megatron charged Starscream with locating it while he focused on acquiring the Cyber Planet Key of [[Velocitron]], the Speed Planet.

Little did Megatron suspect, however, that Starscream had evolved a new ambition—now, he sought to oust Megatron and become the leader of the Decepticons, then the universe. Unlike [[Starscream (G1)|those with similar goals]], however, Starscream was smart enough to keep his intentions to himself, quietly working to achieve his goals through subtle means. While on a brief mission to attack [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] on Velocitron, Starscream was able to secretly switch Megatron's map with a copy that would play an important role later, and in an attempt to acquire more troops loyal to him, recruited the disillusioned Autobot [[Mudflap (Cybertron)|Mudflap]] into his service on Earth. He later crossed paths once again with the mysterious [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]], who saw in him the best chance to achieve his own goals.

With the Autobots having successfully acquired the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys from Velocitron and the [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]], Starscream realized it was time to step up his agenda. His duplicate planet map led Megatron and the other Decepticons to a dead sector of space and sealed them within a metal sphere, freeing Starscream to search for the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth itself. Encountering the Autobot monster-hunter, [[Crosswise (Cybertron)|Crosswise]]—one of the ancient Transformers whose ancestors had come to Earth with the Cyber Planet Key eons ago, who had recently been reactivated—Starscream discovered a vast underground holding cell in which Crosswise had imprisoned the [[ancient Decepticon]]s of his time. {{storylink|Trap}}

Liberating them, Starscream took command of their forces and began a planet-wide search for the Cyber Planet Key, fighting back the Autobot and human military resistance. {{storylink|Invasion|Invasion}} The Autobots had Crosswise's ally [[Evac (Cybertron)|Evac]] recover the key from its hiding place in preparation for a retreat to Velocitron, but Starscream fought his way through the entire Autobot army and confronted Optimus Prime himself, successfully purloining the lock and all three keys by endangering the Autobots' human allies and drawing Prime out of the fight. {{storylink|Retreat}}

Retreating to a small volcanic island in the South Pacific, Starscream attempted to harness the power of the Cyber Planet Keys. Megatron, meanwhile, had been freed by [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]], and immediately sought retribution, only to wind up clashing with the Autobots first. The extra time this afforded Starscream allowed him to tap the power of the keys and harness a fragment of the spark of Primus, growing to a gigantic height, complete with a familiar crown with which he crowned himself "Emperor of the Universe". With an extra power boost courtesy of his combination with [[Wing Saber]], Optimus Prime was able to defeat Starscream, but Sideways teleported his body away to the ancient starship [[Atlantis]] to recuperate. {{storylink|Starscream (episode)|Starscream}}

Not longer thereafter, when the Cyber Planet Keys were used by the Autobots to awaken Primus and transform Cybertron into his body, Starscream attempted a rather pitiful attack on the god, only to be swatted away like an insect. Later, when the Autobots assembled an energy converter that would allow Primus to direct his energy against the black hole in beam form, Starscream sensed the release of power and had Sideways warp the Atlantis into range. Plunging himself into the energy beam, Starscream tapped into Primus's powers once more, and this time, grew to planetary size. Ultimately, however, he fared little better in combat with the creator, winding up bludgeoned into submission by Cybertron's moons and drained of his excess power. {{storylink|Titans}}

The discovery of the fourth Cyber Planet Key on [[Gigantion]], the Giant Planet, set Starscream racing to acquire the key first, but Landmine reached it ahead of him and was able to use its power to pay him back for past indignities by growing to his size and pummeling him. {{storylink|Optimus (episode)|Optimus}} Subsequently, Megatron—now Galvatron—stole the Omega Lock and all four keys, and Starscream challenged him to a final battle for possession of them. Declaring that he had given himself over to his pursuit of power, and had no reason to hold back as he had nothing to lose, Starscream engaged his former leader in battle. Throughout the fight Starscream was easily the aggressor using his ability to increase the mass of his body, and null cannons. This reduced Galvatron to the point where he was on the verge of destruction. At the climatic point of the battle, Starscream channeled unprecedented levels of energy; Galvatron did the same, and so incredible was the reaction when the two fully-powered combatants clashed released that space and time itself was rendered by the final explosion. Starscream was hurtled into another dimension along with the interfering Sideways and [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]]. Finally, after Galvatron had been defeated in battle within the black hole, Starscream's spirit reached out across the dimensions, apparently via the [[fire dimension]], to encourage him to fight on, adding a little extra motivation when Galvatron acquired Starscream's crown, crushing it in his hand.

As the Autobots made preparations to begin their new galaxy-spanning [[space bridge]] initiative, [[Wing Saber]]—having departed from the rest of the Autobots to continue with his "loner" lifestyle—radioed Optimus to report that he had found a lead on Starscream's trail and was pursuing it. Starscream was stationed in Antarctica, overseeing [[Decepticlone]] operations in recovering the [[Mini-Con storage panel|Mini-Con storage panels]] found in the area, using a human research center they overran as his base of operations. When the Autobots ventured too close, Starscream attacked (blowing up the hangar he was holed up in first), but was shot out of the sky and left for dead.

Having survived his initial defeat, Starscream followed the Autobots to Alaska. There he collided his starship into a mountain in an attempt to crush them, but the Autobots escaped unscathed. This also gave them the chance to infiltrate the downed ship and free the captive Mini-Con [[Aftershock (Armada)|Aftershock]] from the control room. Starscream used his null laser cannons at full power in an attempt to finish off his foes, but only succeeded in cutting the rock face below the ship, which collapsed and sent the precariously balanced ship plunging into the valley below. The impact of the crash buried the bow deep into the earth, forcing the Autobots to climb their way up and out to the surface.

When the Autobots pulled free from the buried ship and got back to ground-level, Starscream attacked again. But this battle too ultimately ended in defeat, leading Optimus Prime to interrogate him as to the whereabouts of Megatron. When Starscream refused and attempted to fire his functional null ray at point-blank range, Optimus knocked him unconscious with a well-aimed punch. He then ordered Red Alert to hack the treacherous Decepticon's warp transponder, which led them to Megatron's [[Pacific Island]] base.

If following Megatron is the school of hard knocks, then Starscream is the valedictorian—but not without a few scars. Starscream may have once been compassionate, he may once have known what true friendship is, but all that has been replaced, scab for scab, with the lessons of Megatron's abuse.

Unwittingly, Megatron may have created a monster even he cannot ultimately control.

Accompanying Megatron's forces to [[Earth]], Starscream was deliberately made to be the last of the Decepticons to acquire a personal partner Mini-Con. Infuriated by this mistreatment, Starscream's resentment and hatred of Megatron made him a chink in the armor of the Decepticons that could be easily exploited by the manipulative [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]]. {{storylink|Rebellion}}

Initially, Sideways coerced Starscream into a duel with Megatron, which he promptly lost. A short time later, [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]], acting under the instructions of Sideways, further exploited Starscream by making him the patsy in his latest plan. Starscream was given the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]] and allowed to run riot to draw the [[Autobot|Autobots]] out of their base, but was then abandoned on the battlefield so that the other Decepticons could invade the base and steal the [[Requiem Blaster]]. {{storylink|Sacrifice}}

Surviving to return to the Decepticon base, Starscream went on a rampage with the sword and disowned the Decepticons, siding up with the wary Autobots, not out of any desire to do good, but simply out of sheer hatred for Megatron. After a clash with [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] and a trip to [[Mars]] with [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], Starscream befriended the Autobots' [[human]] allies, particularly [[Alexis]], and then gave the Autobots access to the Decepticon base, resulting in a raid that freed all the captive Mini-Cons. Starscream's defection was not a smooth process, however; he constantly clashed with his new teammates over morals and battle strategies, but nonetheless proved a capable and, on at least some level, willing Autobot. {{storylink|Regeneration}} {{storylink|Rescue}} {{storylink|Mars (episode)|Mars}}

Soon thereafter, Sideways and Thrust approached Starscream, planting seeds of doubt in his mind. This eventually caused him to steal the [[Skyboom (Armada)|Skyboom shield]] from the Autobots and return to the Decepticon fold (for a chance to defeat Megatron by working from the inside), giving the Decepticons possession of all three Mini-Con weapons. {{storylink|Crack}}

As Megatron readied his new super weapon to attack Earth, Starscream began to suffer a serious moral crisis. He had returned to the Decepticons but he still viewed those he'd left behind on Earth as his friends, and was torn between following orders, and a desire not to harm them. At times he found compromises, for instance, as Optimus led an attack to stop Megatron using the three Mini-Con weapons, Starscream, currently battling Jetfire, spotted one of the Decepticons sneaking up on Prime. Starscream then attacked Jetfire, allowing himself to be thrown away, and collided with the Decepticon who would have attacked Prime.

Subsequently, Starscream was among the Transformers injured battling [[Nemesis Prime (Armada)|Nemesis Prime]], and who then received "[[Powerlinx]]" power boosts from their Mini-Cons. Starscream gained a new, blue coloration that he commented made him look like his contemporary, [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]], with disgust just ''dripping'' from his tone. Returning to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Starscream pursued Thrust into the depths of the planet when the turncoat tactician revealed his treachery by stealing the Requiem Blaster and Skyboom shield. Starscream took a fatal shot from the Requiem Blaster as he battled Thrust in the subterranean tunnels, but the Mini-Con [[High Wire (Armada)|High Wire]] used his powers to restructure the timeline, saving Starscream (and throwing the human kids back in time, and.. well, it's confusing). Thrust escaped and delivered the weapons to Sideways and his master, [[Unicron]], presently disguised as Cybertron's moon. Following Thrust through a warp gate and briefly reuniting with Alexis, Starscream entered the belly of the beast along with Hot Shot and [[Wheeljack (Armada)|Wheeljack]], but the unlikely trio were stymied by Unicron's [[Dead End Drone|internal defenses]] and failed to stop Sideways from using the weapons to begin Unicron's reactivation.

Megatron—now Galvatron—was unwilling to acknowledge Unicron's threat, dismissing it as an Autobot trick, but Starscream knew the threat was real, and that only united under a true leader like [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]—whose strength of character and nobility had touched Starscream during his time with the Autobots—could the Transformers hope to stop him. To show Galvatron the error of his ways, he challenged him to a duel in which he allowed Galvatron to run him through with the Star Saber. Galvatron realized what happened and demanded to know what possessed Starscream to do such a thing.

Starscream told him that he tried to gain Galvatron's respect, but nothing was ever good enough, no matter how many battles he fought, his leader always found fault. Optimus Prime treated his men with respect, and was thus a leader of integrity, unlike Galvatron. But that didn't matter anymore, and after tearing the Star Saber out with his bare hands, Starscream turned his full firepower onto Unicron. The Chaos Bringer promptly obliterated him, to the shock of both Galvatron and Optimus Prime. When the dust settled, Galvatron stood reflecting upon Starscream's last words, and as a gesture, handed his enemy the Star Saber.

Unfortunately, Sideways ran off with it two seconds later. But it's the thought that counts.

Ten years after Starscream's death, when Megatron seized control of Unicron's body by ousting its former occupant, the alien being [[Alpha Quintesson]], the evicted extra-terrestrial needed an assassin to eliminate Megatron so that he could return to his original task of recreating the worlds destroyed by Unicron. Using what little [[Energon (Energon)|energon]] he had left, Alpha Q recreated another victim of Unicron—Starscream. However, Alpha Q ran out of energon before the process could be completed, leaving Starscream incomplete—his memory blank, and his body unstable, constantly shifting from a physical to an ethereal form, able to teleport by "ghosting" from location to location. {{storylink|Megatron Raid}}

Alpha Q unleashed Starscream upon [[Ocean City]], where he battled Optimus Prime and then tracked Megatron back to Unicron's body. Rather ironically, Megatron now treated Starscream with far more respect than previously, even entrusting him with some of the most difficult missions. A decade after [[the Powerlinx Battles]] (as they were called), when [[Primus]]'s plan to contain Unicron's spark at the core of the energon sun failed, the sun collapsed, becoming a deadly [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] that threatened Cybertron. Along with Megatron, Starscream was freed from the sun, his mind his own once more and his body refurbished into yet another new form. He had no memory at all of what happened, but then it seems no one did.

Megatron began his campaign to acquire the legendary [[Cyber Planet Key|Cyber Planet Keys]] by stealing the map that showed their locations from the ancient Transformer, [[Vector Prime]] while Starscream created a diversion that kept the other Autobots busy. While on a brief mission to attack [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] on Velocitron, Starscream was able to secretly switch Megatron's map with a copy that would play an important role later, and in an attempt to acquire more troops loyal to him, recruited the disillusioned Autobot [[Mudflap (Cybertron)|Mudflap]] into his service on Earth. He later crossed paths once again with the mysterious [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]], who saw in him the best chance to achieve his own goals.

With the Autobots having successfully acquired the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys from Velocitron and the [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]], Starscream realized it was time to step up his agenda. His duplicate planet map led Megatron and the other Decepticons to a dead sector of space and sealed them within a metal sphere, freeing Starscream to search for the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth itself. Encountering the Autobot monster-hunter, [[Crosswise (Cybertron)|Crosswise]]—one of the ancient Transformers whose ancestors had come to Earth with the Cyber Planet Key eons ago, who had recently been reactivated—Starscream discovered a vast underground holding cell in which Crosswise had imprisoned the [[ancient Decepticon]]s of his time. {{storylink|Trap}}

The extra time this afforded Starscream allowed him to tap the power of the keys and harness a fragment of the spark of Primus, growing to a gigantic height, complete with a familiar crown with which he crowned himself "Emperor of the Universe". Not longer thereafter, when the Cyber Planet Keys were used by the Autobots to awaken Primus and transform Cybertron into his body, Starscream attempted a rather pitiful attack on the god, only to be swatted away like an insect. Later, when the Autobots assembled an energy converter that would allow Primus to direct his energy against the black hole in beam form, Starscream sensed the release of power and had Sideways warp the Atlantis into range. Plunging himself into the energy beam, Starscream tapped into Primus's powers once more, and this time, grew to planetary size. Throughout the fight Starscream was easily the aggressor using his ability to increase the mass of his body, and null cannons and reduced Galvatron to the point where he was on the verge of destruction. At the climatic point of the battle, Starscream channeled unprecedented levels of energy; Galvatron did the same, and so incredible was the reaction when the two fully-powered combatants clashed released that space and time itself was rendered by the final explosion. Starscream was hurtled into another dimension along with the interfering Sideways and [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]]. Starscream may have once been compassionate, he may once have known what true friendship is, but all that has been replaced, scab for scab, with the lessons of Megatron's abuse.

Accompanying Megatron's forces to [[Earth]], Starscream was deliberately made to be the last of the Decepticons to acquire a personal partner Mini-Con. Infuriated by this mistreatment, Starscream's resentment and hatred of Megatron made him a chink in the armor of the Decepticons that could be easily exploited by the manipulative [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]]. {{storylink|Rebellion}}

Initially, Sideways coerced Starscream into a duel with Megatron, which he promptly lost. A short time later, [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]], acting under the instructions of Sideways, further exploited Starscream by making him the patsy in his latest plan. Starscream was given the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]] and allowed to run riot to draw the [[Autobot|Autobots]] out of their base, but was then abandoned on the battlefield so that the other Decepticons could invade the base and steal the [[Requiem Blaster]]. {{storylink|Sacrifice}}

Surviving to return to the Decepticon base, Starscream went on a rampage with the sword and disowned the Decepticons, siding up with the wary Autobots, not out of any desire to do good, but simply out of sheer hatred for Megatron. After a clash with [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] and a trip to [[Mars]] with [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], Starscream befriended the Autobots' [[human]] allies, particularly [[Alexis]], and then gave the Autobots access to the Decepticon base, resulting in a raid that freed all the captive Mini-Cons. Soon thereafter, Sideways and Thrust approached Starscream, planting seeds of doubt in his mind. This eventually caused him to steal the [[Skyboom (Armada)|Skyboom shield]] from the Autobots and return to the Decepticon fold (for a chance to defeat Megatron by working from the inside), giving the Decepticons possession of all three Mini-Con weapons. {{storylink|Crack}}

As Megatron readied his new super weapon to attack Earth, Starscream began to suffer a serious moral crisis. He had returned to the Decepticons but he still viewed those he'd left behind on Earth as his friends, and was torn between following orders, and a desire not to harm them. At times he found compromises, for instance, as Optimus led an attack to stop Megatron using the three Mini-Con weapons, Starscream, currently battling Jetfire, spotted one of the Decepticons sneaking up on Prime. Starscream then attacked Jetfire, allowing himself to be thrown away, and collided with the Decepticon who would have attacked Prime.

Subsequently, Starscream was among the Transformers injured battling [[Nemesis Prime (Armada)|Nemesis Prime]], and who then received "[[Powerlinx]]" power boosts from their Mini-Cons. Starscream gained a new, blue coloration that he commented made him look like his contemporary, [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]], with disgust just ''dripping'' from his tone. Returning to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Starscream pursued Thrust into the depths of the planet when the turncoat tactician revealed his treachery by stealing the Requiem Blaster and Skyboom shield. Starscream took a fatal shot from the Requiem Blaster as he battled Thrust in the subterranean tunnels, but the Mini-Con [[High Wire (Armada)|High Wire]] used his powers to restructure the timeline, saving Starscream (and throwing the human kids back in time, and.. well, it's confusing). Thrust escaped and delivered the weapons to Sideways and his master, [[Unicron]], presently disguised as Cybertron's moon. Following Thrust through a warp gate and briefly reuniting with Alexis, Starscream entered the belly of the beast along with Hot Shot and [[Wheeljack (Armada)|Wheeljack]], but the unlikely trio were stymied by Unicron's [[Dead End Drone|internal defenses]] and failed to stop Sideways from using the weapons to begin Unicron's reactivation.

Megatron—now Galvatron—was unwilling to acknowledge Unicron's threat, dismissing it as an Autobot trick, but Starscream knew the threat was real, and that only united under a true leader like [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]—whose strength of character and nobility had touched Starscream during his time with the Autobots—could the Transformers hope to stop him. To show Galvatron the error of his ways, he challenged him to a duel in which he allowed Galvatron to run him through with the Star Saber. Galvatron realized what happened and demanded to know what possessed Starscream to do such a thing.

Starscream told him that he tried to gain Galvatron's respect, but nothing was ever good enough, no matter how many battles he fought, his leader always found fault. Optimus Prime treated his men with respect, and was thus a leader of integrity, unlike Galvatron. But that didn't matter anymore, and after tearing the Star Saber out with his bare hands, Starscream turned his full firepower onto Unicron. The Chaos Bringer promptly obliterated him, to the shock of both Galvatron and Optimus Prime. When the dust settled, Galvatron stood reflecting upon Starscream's last words, and as a gesture, handed his enemy the Star Saber.

Unfortunately, Sideways ran off with it two seconds later. But it's the thought that counts.

Using what little [[Energon (Energon)|energon]] he had left, Alpha Q recreated another victim of Unicron—Starscream. However, Alpha Q ran out of energon before the process could be completed, leaving Starscream incomplete—his memory blank, and his body unstable, constantly shifting from a physical to an ethereal form, able to teleport by "ghosting" from location to location. {{storylink|Megatron Raid}}

Alpha Q unleashed Starscream upon [[Ocean City]], where he battled Optimus Prime and then tracked Megatron back to Unicron's body. A decade after [[the Powerlinx Battles]] (as they were called), when [[Primus]]'s plan to contain Unicron's spark at the core of the energon sun failed, the sun collapsed, becoming a deadly [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] that threatened Cybertron. Along with Megatron, Starscream was freed from the sun, his mind his own once more and his body refurbished into yet another new form. He had no memory at all of what happened, but then it seems no one did.

Megatron began his campaign to acquire the legendary [[Cyber Planet Key|Cyber Planet Keys]] by stealing the map that showed their locations from the ancient Transformer, [[Vector Prime]] while Starscream created a diversion that kept the other Autobots busy. During the fight, Starscream sent [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]] tumbling into the black hole, but Vector Prime saved him at the last moment, opening a dimensional gate that teleported him to Earth. {{storylink|Fallen (episode)|Fallen}} The Autobots and Decepticons followed, and when it was deduced that the Cyber Planet Keys' focusing device, the [[Omega Lock]], was hidden somewhere on the planet, Megatron charged Starscream with locating it while he focused on acquiring the Cyber Planet Key of [[Velocitron]], the Speed Planet.

Little did Megatron suspect, however, that Starscream had evolved a new ambition—now, he sought to oust Megatron and become the leader of the Decepticons, then the universe. Unlike [[Starscream (G1)|those with similar goals]], however, Starscream was smart enough to keep his intentions to himself, quietly working to achieve his goals through subtle means. While on a brief mission to attack [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] on Velocitron, Starscream was able to secretly switch Megatron's map with a copy that would play an important role later, and in an attempt to acquire more troops loyal to him, recruited the disillusioned Autobot [[Mudflap (Cybertron)|Mudflap]] into his service on Earth. He later crossed paths once again with the mysterious [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]], who saw in him the best chance to achieve his own goals.

With the Autobots having successfully acquired the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys from Velocitron and the [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]], Starscream realized it was time to step up his agenda. His duplicate planet map led Megatron and the other Decepticons to a dead sector of space and sealed them within a metal sphere, freeing Starscream to search for the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth itself. Encountering the Autobot monster-hunter, [[Crosswise (Cybertron)|Crosswise]]—one of the ancient Transformers whose ancestors had come to Earth with the Cyber Planet Key eons ago, who had recently been reactivated—Starscream discovered a vast underground holding cell in which Crosswise had imprisoned the [[ancient Decepticon]]s of his time. {{storylink|Trap}}

Retreating to a small volcanic island in the South Pacific, Starscream attempted to harness the power of the Cyber Planet Keys. Megatron, meanwhile, had been freed by [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]], and immediately sought retribution, only to wind up clashing with the Autobots first. The extra time this afforded Starscream allowed him to tap the power of the keys and harness a fragment of the spark of Primus, growing to a gigantic height, complete with a familiar crown with which he crowned himself "Emperor of the Universe". With an extra power boost courtesy of his combination with [[Wing Saber]], Optimus Prime was able to defeat Starscream, but Sideways teleported his body away to the ancient starship [[Atlantis]] to recuperate. {{storylink|Starscream (episode)|Starscream}}

Not longer thereafter, when the Cyber Planet Keys were used by the Autobots to awaken Primus and transform Cybertron into his body, Starscream attempted a rather pitiful attack on the god, only to be swatted away like an insect. Later, when the Autobots assembled an energy converter that would allow Primus to direct his energy against the black hole in beam form, Starscream sensed the release of power and had Sideways warp the Atlantis into range. Plunging himself into the energy beam, Starscream tapped into Primus's powers once more, and this time, grew to planetary size. When the Autobots ventured too close, Starscream attacked (blowing up the hangar he was holed up in first), but was shot out of the sky and left for dead.

Having survived his initial defeat, Starscream followed the Autobots to Alaska. There he collided his starship into a mountain in an attempt to crush them, but the Autobots escaped unscathed. This also gave them the chance to infiltrate the downed ship and free the captive Mini-Con [[Aftershock (Armada)|Aftershock]] from the control room. Starscream used his null laser cannons at full power in an attempt to finish off his foes, but only succeeded in cutting the rock face below the ship, which collapsed and sent the precariously balanced ship plunging into the valley below. The impact of the crash buried the bow deep into the earth, forcing the Autobots to climb their way up and out to the surface.

When the Autobots pulled free from the buried ship and got back to ground-level, Starscream attacked again. He then ordered Red Alert to hack the treacherous Decepticon's warp transponder, which led them to Megatron's [[Pacific Island]] base.
