Summary
Dinobot and Primal explore one of the planet's frozen regions looking to retrieve the latest stasis pod. They find the pod overhead, hanging over the edge of a cliff, and protected by the three Predacons goons. While Terrorsaur and Scorponok bomb the Maximal duo, Waspinator grabs the pod to lift it back to the Predacon base. Primal sees the theft and flies after the bug, but is brought down by a shot in the back from Terrorsaur. With Primal downed, the Predacons scamper away.

At the Maximal base, Primal laments regarding the frequency of the Maximals being ambushed. Primal calls Rattrap into a private meeting, making it clear he suspects Rattrap has been feeding information to the Maximals' enemies. Rattrap denies this, and Cheetor and Rhinox can't believe it. As a test of loyalty, Rattrap is sent on a mission into one of the more dangerous sectors.

At the Predacon base, Tarantulas reveals the new Predacon made from the captured Maximal protoform: Blackarachnia. Afterwards, they use their radio to eavesdrop on Rattrap's radio reports on how Rattrap's mission is going. Hearing that the rodent is by himself, Terrorsaur is sent to destroy Rattrap.

Terrorsaur and Rattrap battle, and with Rattrap unable to hit his target, Terrorsaur is able to stand over his enemy, his gun right in Rattrap's face. Desperate for his own survival, Rattrap bargains his own loyalty to Terrorsaur and the Predacons, while the rest of the Maximals listen, astonished by the change.

Back at the Predacon base, Terrorsaur introduces his new underling and, with said underling's aid, overthrows Megatron (who is placed into the Predacon brig). Because he still can't be trusted, Rattrap is also imprisoned. The two captives are places in cages and suspended over a flow of lava. Of course, Megatron has anticipated his own imprisonment and escapes with a few simple computer commands. Once Megatron is out of sight, Rattrap picks the lock on his own cage and jump over the lava to freedom (barely).

Sneaking through the base, Rattrap follows another, actual rat. He passes by a Predacon computer console and discovers it contains a Maximal computer chip, explaining how they were able to listen to Maximal radio frequencies and anticipate the Maximals' movement. After removing the chip, he continues his sneaking, but activates a security alarm and is caught in a security web. He escapes, but Tarantulas follows Rattrap back to the suspended cages, compromising Rattrap's operation, or so he would be, were it not for Rattrap silencing the arachnid with a gun shot.

The Maximals begin an attack on the Pred base to retrieve Rattrap. With the other Predacons looking to him for leadership, Terrorsaur panicsm-even more so when Megatron pops up right next to him, free from his cage. But he deigns to follow Terrorsaur's leadership as the Predacons counter-attack. Rattrap is freed to help in the defense, and on Terrorsaur's order, he opens fire on Optimus, scoring a direct hit on his former leader. After the two armies bounce off each other a bit, Megatron gives Rattrap the opportunity to destroy Dinobot, but Rattrap declines and shoots Terrorsaur instead giving Dinobot the time free himself by kicking out some of Megatron's teeth. The Maximals take Rattrap and retreat. Megatron resumes command of his forces.

Back in the Axalon, Optimus explains to his friends that the entire betrayal was a charadem-a ploy to let Rattrap into the Predacon base and find out how the Predacons have been listening to the Maximals' radio communications.
Notes
*This is the (not entirely auspicious) debut of Blackarachnia. After being introduced by Tarantulas, she transforms into robot mode, then spends a few minutes posing, preening, and doing karate moves in the background while Megatron talks. Later in the episode she kicks Cheetor around (and admittedly, is a badass about it), then goes missing for no clear reason.
The Planet Buster is a cannon the size of a moon, used by the Vok aliens in an attempt to destroy the prehistoric Earth.

Fiction
Beast Wars
After the Flying Island was destroyed in a battle against the Predacon forces, a beacon was sent to the Vok. Receiving this beacon, the Vok returned to the Earth and were quite displeased to see that the Beast Wars had completely wrecked their "project". Deeming the entire planet to now be a liability, the Vok revealed their magnum opus: a "termination sequence" that transformed the planet's hollow second moon into a massive weapon. Other Voices, Part 1

The Vok attempted to use this cannon (which Rattrap later dubbed "The Planet Buster") to ignite every energon deposit on the planet, resulting in an explosion powerful enough to destroy the planet itself!

As the alien device charged up, receiving power from an alien site on the planet, the power beam somehow caused the orbiting stasis pods to fall out of orbit.

In order to destroy the weapon, Optimus Primal confiscated a customized stasis pod, which Tarantulas and Blackarachnia had rebuilt as a means to escape from the planet, and rigged its transwarp cell with an explosive charge.

Optimus's plan was to fly the Pod into the core of the Planet Buster, where the transwarp cell would explode, taking the alien construct with it. Unfortunately, the Pod itself was a trap, set by Megatron, revealed to Optimus when he was unable to exit the pod and escape from the imminent explosion. The plan to destroy the Planet Buster succeeded, but cost the Maximals their leader. Other Voices, Part 2

As an unforeseen development, the destruction of the Planet Buster created a massive quantum surge. This surge mutated several Transformers into Transmetals and damaged the stasis pods of others, resulting in the Fuzors and Transmutate. The destruction of the stasis pod's transwarp cell also created a transwarp wave which traveled across space and time, eventually reaching a Predacon outpost in the "present" time of the Beast Era, the time from which the Beast Warriors hailed. Upon intercepting this wave, the Tripredacus Council sent an agent to investigate. The Agenda, Part 1

Summary
On Earth, in their new base in the newly fortified Mount St. Hilary, Rhinox has trouble working with the hardware salvaged from the Axalon. Primal considers this as another reason they need help from the Maximal Elders to arrive soon as possible, but Rhinox doubt the help is coming. But as they speak, help from Cybertron is coming - just not exactly the kind they were hoping for.

Outside, the mountain, Inferno leads Rampage in a planned invasion of the Maximal's now base. But the stranger entering Earth's atmosphere distracts Rampage away from the exercise, leaving Inferno to attack the Maximal's on his own. The fire-ant is easily defeated by a rock. It was a pretty big rock.

Cheetor also notices the spacecraft descending and flies to check it out. Receiving a radio contact from Cheetor, Primal heads out to join the cat. Cheetor watches the spacecraft landing in a body of water, but in the middle of a radio update to Optimus, Rampages fires a rocket to blast the Maximal out of the air. Underwater, the newly arrived Maximal scans a manta for his beast mode and leaves his transport, Depth Charge is ready eager to hunt Protoform X. Surveying the area, Depth Charge finds Cheetor sinking to the bottom of the water. Depth Charge rescues the cat, but doesn't explain who he much when he strands the cat bot on an island.

Megatron, wondering where Rampage went after abandoning Inferno, sends Quickstrike to hunt the giant crab.

Underwater again, Rampage surprises Depth Charge, greeting him as "old playmate". The two battle, and Depth Charge lifts their combat into the air. Rampage blasts the manta and the forces the fight onto the beach, but finds himself impaled on a stalagmite. While the two giant transmetals are disabled, Primal arrives and meets with Cheetor who fills the Maximal commander in on what's happened, as well of telling him of Depth Charge...a name that Primal recognizes.

Rampage heals and approaches Depth Charge. Depth Charge awakens and fights back. The two show off their abilities, but Depth Charge wins the fight by throwing his tail-spike into Rampage's weaponry, causing explosive feedback. Quickstrike shows up and fires at Depth Charge with a disabling poison blast, but Primal easily takes out Quickstrike. But thanks to Quickstrike's interruption, Rampage has had the time to sneak away. Primal and Cheetor bring Depth Charge back to their base.

As Depth Charge heals, Primal and Rhinox explain that Depth Charge was in charge of security for Colony Omicron before Protoform X devoured every other inhabitant of it. Seeking vengeance, Depth Charge captured the maniac and petitioned the High Council to find some way of executing him, but instead Protoform X was placed on the Axalon so be dumped - Depth Charge followed the Axalon through transwarp to finish the job he started.

Depth Charge awakens repaired and exits the CR Chamber. He blows off the Maximals, showing obvious contempt for Optimus Primal. He leaves to go hunt Protoform X, with no interest in the rest of the Beast Wars and saving history. Meanwhile, Rampage destroys the vehicle Depth Charge used to come to the planet.
Technical/Animation Glitches
*When Depth Charge first scans his beast form, he yells the command to "maximize" to transform to beast mode instead of saying "beast mode".

Continuity Errors
*Waspinator appears in this episode and does not get scrapped in someway.

Transformers References
*When Depth Charge first enters Earth's solar system, he is informed by his ship's navi-computer that the area was declared off-limits by order of the High Council. This is a reference to backstory given by the story-editors that never got explicitly mentioned on the show, but was spelled out by their posts on the Internet, wherein Earth is off-limits because of some undecided-upon catastrophe, and to protect it from time-altering thieves such as Megatron.
:Unlike his larger counterpart, Attacktix Rodimus has molded flames on his chest. Fortunately, these gnarly flames don't get in the way of his massive four points of articulation, which let him move at the waist, shoulders and head. If the glue comes loose on his gun (and it will) you may even score another point of, useless, articulation.

:Rodimus is a large-based figure with pretty good defense, especially when hugging another Rodimus figure. His recruit special allows him to put any Trooper class figure into play from your back-ups. If you're feeling particularly silly you could have a swarm of Rodimi summon a swarm of Insecticons.
