Dinosaurs' most prominent influence in Transformers culture is serving as the altmodes for some of the most dangerous (and occasionally ludicrous) Transformers of all time.
When the Autobots' spacecraft crashed into the Earth four million years ago, the mighty dinosaurs fled in terror. Battle for Cybertron

Marvel Comics continuity
Shortly after the Ark crashed on Earth, the Ark's defense systems detected Cybertronic life on the continent of Antarctica. The Ark sent a drone to investigate, and it discovered Shockwave roaming around in the Savage Land blasting dinosaurs with high-powered X-rays. The Ark determined that Shockwave was a threat and rebuilt five Autobots into forms it assumed were the dominant form of life on the planet, the dinosaurs the drone discovered. The Last Stand
earthforcefiction

By 1992 the dinosaurs of the Savage Land were suffering from an unidentified disease that drove them insane and ultimately killed them. When the Dinobots returned, searching for the control crystal from their shuttle to help save Snarl from Corrodia Gravis, they discovered that a human paleontologist named Professor Embrey was using it to keep the disease at bay from healthy dinosaurs. ====IDW Generation 1 continuity====
Six hundred thousand meta-cycles ago, Shockwave foresaw Cybertron's eventual exhaustion of natural resources. To ensure their survival, he seeded many worlds with Ultra-Energon and waited. He arrived on the world later to be known as Earth to regulate the growth of the valuable resource. Unfortunately, the Autobot Dynobots, lusting for revenge after Shockwave had defeated them in a skirmish, followed him to this world. To endure the intense energon radiation on this world, the Dynobots assumed the form of the long-extinct dinosaur species. Spotlight: Shockwave

Hearts of Steel
Dinosaurs were understood to have been sluggish and stupid. They dragged their tails on the ground, and theropods walked fully upright. S.O.S. Dinobots

Dinosaurs survived the mass extinction of 65 million years ago and lived on into the present on the time-displaced, and energy-rich, Dinobot Island.

The most prominent saurians were the Dinobots, five rebellious (yet extremely powerful) Autobots, who proved time and again a match for an army of Decepticons. Other dinosaur Transformers are Trypticon, Sky Lynx, and the cassette warriors, Slugfest and Overkill.

Transformers who have Dinosaur altmodes have something known as "dinosaur electrons" within their systems. Transformation causes these electrons to release dinosaur transform static. Thief in the Night
By now dinosaurs were understood to have been quick and agile, with T. rex holding its body parallel to the ground. After crash-landing on a primitive world that was later revealed to be Earth, the Predacon renegades Megatron and Dinobot assumed the forms of extinct dinosaurs, a dwarf Tyrannosaurus rex and a giant Velociraptor respectively, as their beast modes to survive on this energon-soaked planet.Beast Wars (Part 1)
After Dinobot's betrayal, Megatron cloned him. This clone was completely biological. Double Dinobot

When the alien Vok Planet Buster superweapon that threatened Earth was destroyed, the resulting quantum surge hit the planet, altering Megatron's structure, giving him a new, more powerful Transmetal body that allowed him to transform into entirely mechanical Tyrannosaurus with flight capabilities. Aftermath Later, Megatron used the alien Transmetal driver to create a drone army of Velociraptors with Cybertronian enhancements. Cutting Edge Refining his experiments, Megatron subsequently created Dinobot II, a Transmetal 2 clone of Dinobot. Feral Scream Part 1
Published by Activision and developed by High Moon Studios, Next Level Games and Vicarious Visions, the game is a continuation of the events of War For Cybertron, exploring the events that brought the Autobots and Decepticons to Earth. A side story also focuses on the creation of the Dinobots.
Dinosaurs are prehistoric reptiles that dominated the Earth during their existence. Scientific consensus holds that they became extinct 65 million years ago. In the various Transformers continuities, this belief is often reassessed.

Dinosaurs' most prominent influence in Transformers culture is serving as the altmodes for some of the most dangerous (and occasionally ludicrous) Transformers of all time.
Generation 1
Big Looker storybooks continuity

Four million years later, Ratchet visited the Savage Land and passed a dinosaur in his shuttle. Repeat Performance!
Earthforce
earthforcefiction

By 1992 the dinosaurs of the Savage Land were suffering from an unidentified disease that drove them insane and ultimately killed them. When the Dinobots returned, searching for the control crystal from their shuttle to help save Snarl from Corrodia Gravis, they discovered that a human paleontologist named Professor Embrey was using it to keep the disease at bay from healthy dinosaurs. Ultimately, they let Embrey keep the crystal and transferred Snarl's mind into the body of a Stegosaurus. Destiny of the Dinobots!

IDW Generation 1 continuity

Both the Autobots and Decepticons assumed the forms of these doomed reptiles upon arriving on Earth, which was in the grip of one of its ice ages. Hearts of Steel issue 1

Generation 1 cartoon continuity
The Transformers cartoon

Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity
Victory cartoon
The Dinoforce consisted of six Decepticons with sentient dinosaurian Pretender shells and the ability to combine into Dinoking.
Gigastorm, Galvatron's younger brother, took the form of a theropod dinosaur. He then made several Predacons into Cyborg Beasts including Thrust, rechristened Thrustor, a cyborg Velociraptor.

The Dinobots were created by the Oracle using dinosaur DNA information from Dinobot's spark. Most of the members had true dinosaur alternate modes of a Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, and a mechanical Velociraptor. Magmatron also joined the team although only one of his multiple beast modes is actually a dinosaur. Whether or not Airraptor's Archaeopteryx mode counts is debatable.
The Terrorcon Cruellock is a theropod dinosaur, but with a distinct Japanese giant monster influence.
Walmart released an exclusive mini wave of figures in 2003. It is unclear what continuity these figures belong to but they were released along with Armada figures. There is really no story behind these figures other than the fact that they are the Dinobots. The members with true dinosaur alternate modes are Grimlock, Snarl, Triceradon, and Slapper.

Shattered Glass
Grimlock, who transforms into a Tyrannosaurus, was created by the heroic Decepticons. He was deactivated by Megatron for being too violent. Optimus Prime reactivated him and he joined the Autobots. Grimlock (SG) Wheeljack created the Dinobots based off of Grimlock's design.
Aligned continuity
Shockwave was fascinated by the lifeforms he spotted on Earth called dinosaurs, and used them as inspiration for strange experiments where he changed the body of Grimlock. Once Shockwave was done, Grimlock possessed the ability to transform into a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
Notes
* A number of Transformers, such as Terrorsaur, Brimstone, Sling, Swoop and two thirds of Magmatron, are treated as if they have dinosaur alternate modes. However, in all cases, these are animals which are either only closely related, very distantly related, or so distantly related it's like saying you're a fish. But that's pretty much par for the course when it comes to the casual portrayal of dinosaurs in popular culture, so we're not judging.
Grimlock was a gladiator from Kaon, but chose to join the Autobots early on in the war. His dislike of Optimus Prime and shock and awe approach to combat meant he was not regarded as a great leader, but he has survived long enough to earn a high rank and command of the Lightning Strike Coalition. Captured by Shockwave, they were reformatted into the Dinobots. During a battle with Scorponok, Grimlock's vocal processors were damaged, causing his awkward manner of speaking. Transformers Hall of Fame
Grimlock and Swoop were two powerful best friends who'd apparently taken no side in the war for the planet. Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, came to them to recruit them to the cause. Grimlock dismissed the Decepticon threat, claiming they were "too stupid" to mess with him and Swoop. The Autobots tried to explain that the Dark Energon could ravage Cybertron permanently, but Grimlock and Ironhide almost came to blows. Optimus began playing to Grimlock's self-centered ego, saying no one was stronger than Grimlock and Swoop, to the former's pleasure. Ironhide and Bumblebee joined in, but adding that with Dark Energon, Megatron and his forces could be stronger than Grimlock and Swoop.

Grimlock decided that he and Swoop would consider joining the Autobots, but just as negotiations were to begin, Grimlock noticed Swoop had been missing since the Autobots arrived. Grimlock said they would speak once Swoop was rescued from the Decepticons. Once Swoop was safe, he immediately joined the Autobots in gratitude. Grimlock declared he wouldn't join the Autobots yet, but tag along to protect his best friend.

Grimlock subsequently actively participated in the campaigns to save the Core of Cybertron. Grimlock said that even though the Decepticon army was waiting for them at the Core, all they'd wait for from him was a butt-kicking. Ironhide pondered aloud if it was a good idea to bring Grimlock along, but as Optimus put it, "Do you want to be the one to argue with them?"

Grimlock also participated in the battle against the massive Decepticon Trypticon, and presumably stayed behind with Optimus on Cybertron while the Autobot population evacuated the planet.

Grimlock was apparently wandering around an Energon purification station the Autobots had been using, and picked a fight with the Autobots. To his utter surprise, the Autobots beat Grimlock, and he finally joined them. Transformers: War for Cybertron (DS)
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Before the Great Exodus, Grimlock was captured by Shockwave, a Decepticon charged with seeking out new forms of power and destruction in the universe. His eye was drawn to Earth, where he spotted dinosaurs, inspiring him to change Grimlock's alternate form into that of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, with the intention of creating a powerful new warrior. Grimlock, using his new-found power, escaped the laboratory, and is now on the loose.

Notes
*The gladiator aspect of Grimlock's Hall of Fame nomination bio is based on his Dreamwave and IDW incarnations, while his enmity with Scorponok has shades of the latter and Bumblebee's story.
*According to the "Binder of Revelation"'s map of Cybertron included in Transformers Vault, Grimlock comes from Simfur (from where he was presumably transferred to Kaon). This is a reference to Simon Furman, whose favourite character is Grimlock.
:Sky Blast is a Mini-Con from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Sky Blast is a hothead with hot feet. He's always rushing into battle without a second thought, and sometimes not even a first. This gets on the nerves of his friends on the Space Mini-Con Team, but they know he means well. Still, his battle-cry of "BLAST OFF!" can get annoying quickly.

Fiction
Armada cartoon
Sky Blast was a Mini-Con whose storage panel lay dormant deep inside the crashed ship that was Autobot headquarters on Earth. When his partner Payload was pinpointed on a deserted island, a signal went out that located Sky Blast and Astroscope beneath the Autobot base and on the moon, respectively. The Street Action Team and the Autobots' pet kids went looking for the Mini-Con in the bowels of the base while most of the Autobots were engaged with the enemy on the island. They found Sky Blast and activated him but, in his petrified state, he fired on the children with his hand-cannon. Awakening

Despite his fearsome firepower, the kids quickly realized Sky Blast was more scared than they were, and Rad tried his best to be comforting to the Mini-Con. The Autobots were having a rough time against the new super-warrior Tidal Wave, and so Rad, Carlos and Red Alert took Sky Blast to the battlefield in the hopes that he could do something to help. The timid Mini-Con was still too unnerved to help, but after both Red Alert and Hot Shot were injured trying to protect him, and Rad constantly stood up for Sky Blast's right to choose for himself, Sky Blast made the brave choice and got involved in the fight. He summoned his fellow Space Mini-Con Team partners, calling up Payload from the ground and calling down Astroscope from the skies. The three of them linked up into the Requiem Blaster in mid-air for Optimus Prime, as he plummeted to the ground after a disastrous fight with Megatron and his Dark Fleet armor. Prime used the Requiem Blaster to carve out a landing spot for himself in the middle of the ocean, and was saved. Desperate

Sky Blast and his teammates briefly ran away from the Autobots, because they didn't want to be used for combat. After Optimus Prime rescued them from Thrust, he promised the Mini-Cons they would only join the battles against the Decepticons if they desired it—no Autobots would force them to fight. Runaway

True to his word, Optimus Prime left Sky Blast and the others back at headquarters when the Autobots were called into battle against the Decepticons, with Smokescreen watching over them. The battle was only a lure for the Requiem Blaster, however, and Megatron and Thrust soon doubled back to attack the undermanned Autobot headquarters. Smokescreen fought bravely to defend the Space Mini-Con Team, but Megatron managed to subvert their programming and powerlinx with the trio, forcing them to form the Requiem Blaster and obliterate their Autobot protector. Sacrifice

Sky Blast and the Space Team had little time to act as individuals after that, remaining powerlinxed as the Requiem Blaster as Megatron's personal weapon, and later when the Decepticons used the gun as one-third of the Hydra Cannon, before it was stolen by Thrust and used to provide power to the heart of Unicron. Sky Blast, Payload and Astroscope reawakened as individuals with the help of High Wire and the Street Action Team, who had journeyed to Unicron's core with Optimus Prime, Galvatron and the Earth children to grant the super-weapon Mini-Cons their freedom. Origin Sky Blast fled Unicron aboard the Autobot Jetfire just before the Chaos-Bringer was finally destroyed. Mortal Combat

Dreamwave Armada comic
Back in the day, Sky Blast lived in Mini-Con village D10 alongside the other Space Team members, until one day when the Decepticons trashed the village and captured them. Dreamwave Armada issue 1 Along with most other imprisoned Mini-Cons, they eventually escaped and made their way to Earth, where their ship crashed on the Moon. For the next million years, Sky Blast and the others built and resided in a fortress base on the moon under the command of Dualor. Him and the Space Team were apparently responsible for the signal that called all the Mini-Cons living on Earth to the moonbase. Dreamwave Armada issue 9 Unfortunately, this attracted the Decepticons, who attacked the base. Dreamwave Armada issue 10

As Mini-Cons' defenses failed them, Sky Blast packed up his belongings (such as a rubber ducky) and prepared to take the next escape pod outta there. He was stopped by Sparkplug, who needed the Space Team's help to save Rad White, a human who was stuck in one of the moonbase's orbital mines. The team was hesitant, but were eventually convinced that they couldn't just run away. Sky Blast obtained the recall code for the relevant mine, but it didn't work properly, so he improvised a plan to bring the whole minefield to low lunar orbit. When this was done, Sky Blast headed out in person, using his rocket mode to reach the mine and pull it onboard a approaching Autobot shuttle. Dreamwave Armada issue 11

With nowhere else to go, the former moonbase residents temporarily sided with the Autobots. Sky Blast was seen listening to one of Rook's speeches about Mini-Con independence. Fire & Ice A while later, the Space Team oversaw a battle in Alaska, and Sky Blast recognized that the Destruction Team had driven Cyclonus berserk by deactivating their safety interlocks. He was later ordered by Optimus Prime to head into space and shoot down Megatron's destructive Solar Scalpel satellite, which he did at the very last second. Dreamwave Armada issue 13

Sky Blast was at the Autobase when the Autobots found an alternate-dimension Optimus Prime, who passed away after giving them a mysterious warning. Worlds Collide, Part 1 of 4 With their own Optimus Prime missing somewhere in the multiverse, the Space Team started researching alternate dimensions in an attempt to find him. While Astroscope went on another mission, Sky Blast and Payload stayed at base, where they sent a temporal probe into a space bridge to scan different realities for Prime. Worlds Collide, Part 2 of 4 While the defending Autobots were taken out one by one in a Decepticon attack, the two Mini-Cons had no choice but to sit tight, keep scanning and hope for the best. Worlds Collide, Part 3 of 4 After 75,890,007 realities, the probe finally found Optimus Prime, and Sky Blast quickly sent his spatial coordinates to Sparkplug, Over-Run and Comettor so that they could retrieve him. Worlds Collide, Part 4 of 4

Some time later, all the Mini-Cons on Earth gathered to join the fight against Unicron, including Sky Blast. They traveled to the Loop on their home planet, where they focused their energies into the Mini-Con Matrix and released a blast that crippled Unicron. The End
Magnus was originally going to be packed with a new-characters redeco of the Street Speed Mini-Con Team (Brakedown, Clocker and Override, no team name given), but were changed towards the last minute. Exactly why the change to the Space Team was made has yet to be determined.

: The toy was a last-minute redeco, along with Rapid Run and Treadbolt. As such, their packaging photography had to be completed before properly painted samples could be obtained, so the box-back photos use the original decos; Magnus's box also shows the original Street Speed Team rather than the Space Team.

: Magnus, Rapid Run and Treadbolt were produced in smaller numbers than the rest of the normal retail Energon line (reportedly only about 10,000 units each) and were only available in the initial shipments of the line. However, Magnus's shipment saw a very limited release, quickly replaced with the second assortment in the US, making him hard to come by. Magnus later showed up in much larger numbers in Australia, Canada and some European markets, and was made available in Japan through e-Hobby with the box altered via a black and white sticker, reflecting the Space Team's addition. The back of the European release's box was further corrected, as the Mini-Cons shown were changed along when more languages were added.
* Test-shots of a slightly altered Space Team have popped up from various sources. It's possible this was intended to be a mid-series deco-change for the team, though it looks unfinished at best. The team has the exact same paint application layouts in the exact same colors as the original. Sky Blast's white and blue plastics changed to black, and that's it.
* The Space Team was also slated to be redecoed as pack-in partners for Universe Spacewarp. When the toy was saved from limbo by Fun Publications, they intended to keep the Mini-Con partners, but were told by Takara that the Armada-era Team molds were too worn out to use again. As such, the team was replaced by a redeco of the Giant Planet Mini-Con Team when "Astrotrain" finally saw release.
:Enemy is a Decepticon Mini-Cassette from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Enemy is one who feels hatred toward, intends injury to, or opposes the interests of another; a foe. He is a hostile power or force, or possibly something destructive or injurious in his effects.

For example, if one were not to want to sound like a robot, Enemy would, counter to this one's desires, change this being's voice into sounding like that of a robot's. And he would do this with only one part of his body; nay, the only part of his body he has.

He is a bastard. Perhaps, even, a nemesis.
