* This issue contains the second of two interlinking stories with the title prefix of "Primus", told through the 2012 Transformers annuals. The stories' unifying theme is that of exploring and revealing a lot of new information about the earliest days of life on Cybertron, embodied in the presence of the Metrotitan, which appears in this story following its disappearance at the conclusion of the More than Meets the Eye annual. The flashback sequences in both these issues are drawn by Guido Guidi in a retro style gloriously evocative of the original Marvel Comics series—particularly the work of Ian Akin and Brian Garvey—which he has also showcased in the variant "B" covers of Regeneration One.
*This issue takes the whole "retro" thing substantially further than the More than Meets the Eye annual did, with many more flashback pages and many more loving references to the classic Marvel series. The first page of the comic is a direct homage to the first page of the first Marvel issue, and the whole comic is filled with scripting that deliberately evokes early Marvel quirks, including unnaturally stilted and florid dialogue and narration, as well as an awesome Decepticon introdump that specifically homages the classic panel from the first issue. It even gets to bust out the classic Marvel square-with-pointy-corners robot speech balloons!
* The title, "All Good Things" is a shortened version of the phrase "all good things come to an end."
A Sparkeater was kept contained in the Lost Light by its original NAIL owners. It was kept docile by turbofox meals. Liars, A to D Part 3: The Chaos of Warm Things

Denied the help of Omega Supreme, Rodimus bought the Lost Light to find the Knights of Cybertron, a group from Cybertron's ancient past. He intended on following a map discovered in the halves of the now empty Matrix of Leadership by Perceptor and Rewind, hoping that the knowledge and power of the Knights could be used to bring Cybertron into a new golden age. Rodimus gave a rousing speech on the day prior to the launch, intending on swaying the varied Transformers currently inhabiting and feuding on Cybertron to accompany him. While Prowl predicted Rodimus would fail to convince anyone to leave with him, at least 200 answered the call. After being checked and cleared by a diligent Red Alert, the passengers boarded the Lost Light, along with a "weapon of mass destruction" brought on board by Ratchet, an unconscious and crippled Tailgate, and mysterious cargo smuggled aboard on Prowl's orders.

The ship launched on schedule, but something went wrong. As the Lost Light lifted off, it was rocked by an explosion and quantum jumped before it was ready. The jump placed the Lost Light over an unknown planet somewhere in space and caused one of the rear thrusters to explode, resulting in a fire and a hull tear in one of the hangars on the upper decks. Before the tear could be sealed, 40 Autobots were ejected through the breach. Rodimus ordered the Lost Light to be set down on the planet's surface so the lost Autobots could be recovered. Liars, A to D Part 1: How to Say Goodbye and Mean It Perceptor and Brainstorm found that the reason for the explosion was that Ore had been standing close to one of the quantum generators when they were activated, and was mashed into it. By the time the rescue mission was done and the Lost Light left the planet, Skids joined the crew while Hyperion and Polaris had been found dead. Liars, A to D Part 2: Hangers On

The Sparkeater that none of the Autobots knew of broke out during their journey, killing Shock and Animus before going on a hunt for the "brightest spark" on the ship: Rung. Rodimus had the rest of the crew locked in their quarters and lured the Sparkeater to the engine room, where he mashed it into a generator when the Lost Light did its next quantum jump. Liars, A to D Part 3: The Chaos of Warm Things

The crew then had a celebration at Swerve's recently opened bar and Rodimus ordered Rewind to give Tailgate a history lesson about the Great War. Life After the Big Bang

Ultra Magnus would later teach Tailgate the Autobot Code while Ratchet, Drift, and Pipes investigated on significant life declining in Delphi. Meanwhile, Red Alert told Rung he was hearing noises below his room in the Sparkeater chamber that was vaguely recognized as "me...kill" over and over again. Later on, Ratchet and his comrades returned with new crew members including Fortress Maximus. How Ratchet Got His Hands Back

Despite attempts to give him therapy, Maximus shot a bunch of crew members before taking Rung and Whirl hostage so he could demand the ship be taken back to Cybertron. Swerve and Rewind, who had been replacing rivets on the ship's hull, attempted to shoot him through the window, but accidentally injured Rung instead. Elsewhere, Red Alert used the deceased Ore's drill arm to find the source of the noise he had heard earlier. Drilling through the floor of the Sparkeater chamber, the lowest level of the ship according its schematics, he found a hidden chamber in which a captive Overlord was suspended, begging to be killed. Interiors

When informed, Orion Pax thought even with the Lost Lights "destruction", Rodimus and his crew were still alive. Syndromica (1)
Ironhide and the Dinobots search for the missing Aerialbots, but unexpected surprises lurk in the wilderness...

Synopsis
Just as the Dinobots make their return to Cybertron, the Autobots detect a signal coming from deep within the unexplored wilderness that now covers most of their planet. Knowing that most of the Autobots are unsettled by him following his return from death and his talk of a vision of the future, Ironhide volunteers to investigate the signal, believing it may have been sent by the Aerialbots, and recruits the Dinobots, equally as ostracized for their refusal to give up their Earth-borne dinosaur modes, to join him. The team are flown out over the wilderness by Sky Lynx, but before long, some form of interference begins to play havoc with his guidance system, and Ironhide orders him to safely return to the city while he and the Dinobots air-drop to the surface and continue on foot. Unfortunately, they drop straight into the lair of a mutated turbofox, and although the Dinobots are able to destroy it with brutal swiftness, the discovery of Silverbolt's wing among the detritus indicates that the team are on the right track to discovering what became of their former comrades. Ironhide advocates finding a place to set up camp for the night, much to Slag's consternation; Swoop, in turn, is amused to hear the two grizzled warriors trash-talking one another.

Back in Iacon, Starscream and Metalhawk have begun pushing for free elections, with Bumblebee resisting out of private concern that Starscream will win. Surprisingly, however, Prowl voices his support for the idea, and when Bumblebee questions him, Prowl encourages him to provide for the voters a counterpoint to Metalhawk and Starscream's romantic spin on the history of the war. Megatron was no freedom fighter, no hero—Bumblebee was a hero, and Prowl believes that if they hold elections, Bumblebee will honestly win.

At the Decepticon pen in Iacon, Swindle approaches Shockwave to talk, though the cyclopean Decepticon has no interest in hearing him, claiming he is content not to interfere in current events. Refusing to believe him, Swindle brings out Dirge, who relates everything that he has seen and heard Prowl do, explaining that he is on the run from the Autobots and wants Shockwave's help. When Shockwave asks what he wants him to do, Swindle grins and dubs that the real question.

Back out in the wilderness, Ironhide and the Dinobots' explorations have turned up signs of a battle that indicate the combatants were not simply wild animals. Ironhide suspects with some concern that Megatron may yet live, hidden in the wilds, prompting Slag to mock him for his new, reserved attitude. By way of explanation, Ironhide details his premonition for the Dinobots, and surprisingly, this placates Slag, who understands the idea of putting your faith in something intangible: after all, he explains, he didn't join the Dinobots out of rationality. Discussion of Ironhide's vision continues as they cobble a shelter together to spend the night in, with Sludge asking if the Autobots will win in the future. Ironhide reluctantly admits that in his vision, the Autobots have spread to all the corners of the galaxy: expansion, the same goal Nova Prime saw for their race. And if that's the case, is that really a victory? Unsettled by the talk, Ironhide is unable to fall asleep as night sets in, and as such, when noises begin outside, he is first into action. The unseen enemy has made short work of half the Dinobots: Snarl's apparently-dead body is hurled at Ironhide from behind, and as he struggles to get his bearings, he stumbles across Sludge's decapitated head. Bellowing challenges into the darkness, Ironhide is unprepared for the next attack...

...as Slag and Swoop run him through from either side!
Notes
*This issue is, of course, named after the Marvel UK story, "Dinobot Hunt!"
*The Aerialbots left Iacon for the wilderness back in issue #3.
*The Dinobots were last seen at the close of the Maximum Dinobots mini-series, over three years before the publication of this issue. Their return in Robots in Disguise coincidences with that of their leader Grimlock across issues #7 and #8 of sister title More than Meets the Eye for a micro-event called out on the August covers, "Dinobot Month!"
*Prior to this issue, IDW continuity has consistently named the team the "Dynobots" (in-story), a term that originated in Dreamwave Productions' War Within: The Dark Ages for the team as they existed on Cybertron before they had dinosaur modes. With this issue, that's obviously been abandoned. This may be an error, but it ties in somewhat into the fact the Dinobots have obviously become attached to their dinosaur forms and refuse to abandon them, suggesting they might have changed the spelling themselves.
*The layered, honeycomb-styled landscape Sky Lynx flies over on page 6 is reminiscent of Cybertron as it appeared in Dark of the Moon.
*Sludge calls Sky Lynx an "oversized Ardurian roc".
*Prowl's flashback to the war shows images of Megatron battling Sentinel Prime from Megatron Origin #4, assassinating Zeta Prime and casting Orion Pax into the Undergrid from Autocracy #8, and ripping the Matrix of Leadership out of Optimus Prime from All Hail Megatron #7.
*Megatron has been missing since the final part of "Chaos", the penultimate issue of the previous ongoing series, having failed to reappear on Cybertron post-reformatting.
*Dirge has been on the run since issue #4, in which he was briefly mind-controlled by Bombshell, an event he alludes to in this issue. He had hooked up with Swindle for protection by isue #5.

Real-life references
*The opening scene, in which Ironhide addresses his "troops" while marching in front of a giant Autobot symbol, pays homage to the opening of the movie Patton, in which the title character does the same in front of a giant American flag.

Errors

Synopsis
Over the last 21 years, Megatron has partially repaired several Decepticons previously off-lined by Starscream. He also lobotomized them so they would follow his orders without question. Megatron did the same to Starscream himself, but left him with enough cognizance to realize his fate, as punishment for defying Megatron in the past. The worst fate was given to Ratchet, whose still-alive head adorns Megatron's desert transport. Megatron orders his zombie-cons to find the marooned Autobots and bring them to him.

Seventy six miles away, the Wreckers cope with their injuries while Kup broods about Earth's fate.

Meanwhile, Grimlock approaches Nebulos and listens to a science log by Borx about Project Lazarus.
Orion Pax is no more... Arise, Optimus Prime!

Synopsis
At the Trion Square in Iacon, Megatron announces to the populace that Zeta Prime's oppression has come to an end, and the Decepticons will now rule Cybertron. He invites any Autobots who wish to rebuild their society to join him, but of course they don't trust him after his previous betrayal and instead choose to go into hiding. Bumblebee, Ultra Magnus and Ironhide are discussing strategies in the city of Ultrix when Hot Rod joins them to pitch in that factions don't matter anymore: the violence will never end anyway.

In the Undergrid far beneath Iacon, Orion Pax lies barely alive where Megatron has disposed of him. In spite of his injuries, he is drawn to move towards a nearby energy source, and ends up in an ancient vault containing the Matrix of Leadership. In his head, he hears a voice much like his own, but older and wiser, urging him to reach out for the artifact. When he does, he is overcome by pain, fear and loneliness--the current emotions of Cybertronians everywhere. As Orion's consciousness expands across Cybertron and beyond, he takes in the few but bright sparks that still burn with courage and hope, and realizes that the Matrix does not only represent leadership or creation, but the sparks of all Cybertronians.

As the Autobots consider rallying the people in a resistance movement against Megatron, their safe-house is compromised by the Decepticons and they're all arrested. While the Autobots are led away, Starscream takes special interest in Hot Rod and invites him to join the Decepticons.

Meanwhile, the Matrix courses throughout Orion Pax, repairing his body and imbuing his mind with clarity and wisdom. He realizes that despite what the Decepticons think, the Cybertronians are not a divided race and that unity is a matter of perception rather than some event that has to be brought about. The Autobots are not supposed to fight to uphold the laws of a broken system, but to protect the freedom of all sentient beings. It's time for a change... a change that begins with Orion Pax's transformation into Optimus Prime!
*Optimus Prime experiencing pain when first united with the Matrix was previously mentioned in "Chaos Theory Part 2", although Ratchet wasn't present despite saying he recalled the event.
*Orion Pax describes the Matrix as "a vast Underbase of collective thought and experience".
*Orion Pax's repairs and transformation into Optimus Prime is presented in a similar fashion to that of Megatron's transformation into Galvatron during The Transformers: The Movie.
Hot Rod chooses his faction while Optimus Prime discovers a new ally for the fight against Megatron.

Synopsis
Hot Rod is brought to the Citadel for an audience with Megatron, who was very impressed by the decisiveness he displayed in the destruction of Nyon and compliments his leadership skills. Though he has lost track of what he's fighting for, Hot Rod chooses against following Megatron after witnessing him ordering the execution of Bumblebee.

Meanwhile, the Matrix guides Optimus Prime back to the ruins of Nyon, where it allows him to feel a weak life force pulsating underground near the Acropolex.

Back at the Citadel, Hot Rod breaks Bumblebee, Ironhide and Ultra Magnus out of jail, explaining that he has realized what the Autobots are fighting for and wishes to join them. The other members of Magnus and Orion Pax's teams escape as well, and together they follow Orion's ID signal to Nyon where they're shocked to learn that Orion has acquired the Matrix and become Optimus Prime. Optimus announces to his troops that he's going to set things right and bring back justice to Cybertron, then introduces them to their newest ally: Metroplex, the giant formerly known as Acropolex who has been sleeping below Nyon since ancient times.
