The '''Cauldron''' is a sinister arena within a dark dimension inside [[Unicron]] himself. Here, [[Transformer]]s are abducted from across time and space and held captive here to fight for his benefit. A [[Unicron virus|virus-like infection]] corrupts the combatants within the Cauldron, turning their thoughts towards evil, which catalyzes further conflict. [[Cauldron drone]]s guard the molten entrance to the Cauldron and herd recently abducted Transformers towards the arena. Some of these drones even watch the battles from the stands, accompanied by Unicron's appointed generals:

A group of seven [[Maximal]]s and [[Autobot]]s was abducted by Unicron and, after being released by the torturous [[Pit]], wandered out into the magma-lined pathways leading to the Cauldron. Here, the abductees battled the Cauldron drones but were eventually overwhelmed. They were then paraded into the arena itself, where they were introduced to the generals, placed in cells, and made to witness a battle between [[Smokescreen (G1)|two]] [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Smokescreens]]. After one Smokescreen perished, Razorclaw informed them that they would be next. {{storylink|Abduction}}

However, [[Primus]] was aware of Unicron's schemes and called back [[Optimus Primal]] from the Allspark to rescue the Transformers held captive within the Cauldron. While [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] and [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]] battled, Primal fought Razorclaw. Meanwhile, [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] and [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] performed a [[primary system program transfer]], bypassing their cells' security measures, and helped free all of the abductees within. The freed captives rushed Razorclaw and the other generals, and Optimus Primal led them to safety through a dimensional portal. {{storylink|Escape (issue)|Escape}}
