'''"Herald of Unicron"''' is a fan term for Transformers who serve, or have been reformatted by, [[Unicron]]. It is used in much the same way as [[shellformer]], or as [[seeker]] used to be; while not in any official sources, fanfictions are rife with it, making it part of the greater [[fanon]]. It mostly likely originates from the term "[[Wikipedia:Herald of Galactus|Herald of Galactus]]" from various Marvel comics, given the similarities between Unicron and [[Wikipedia:Galactus|Galactus]].

==What is a "Herald?"==
While many characters are Unicron-related, not all of those characters are generally thought of as "Heralds". While the term is distinctly fan-based, it does carry certain stipulations. For example, Galvatron was rebuilt to serve Unicron and lead his "armada" of rebuilt Transformers, which include [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]], and an indeterminate number of [[Sweeps]]. All of these characters are often thought of as "Heralds", even though Galvatron's loyalty was wavering. Conversely, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] is generally not concidered a "Herald", for the simple reason of his complete lack of loyalty. Starscream never intended to serve Unicron and so abandoned the Planet Eater after getting his reward.

==Insignia==
The insignia of the ''[[Beast Wars Neo]]'' faction, the [[Blentron]]s, has been associated by some fans with the "Heralds". The symbol looks vaguely Unicron-ish, and the Blentrons were created by him, so the assignment is not totally arbitrary. Some custom sticker suppliers, like Reprolabels, have developed faction sigils and rub symbols with the Blentron logo as a "Herald of Unicron" faction symbol for characters who serve Unicron

When [[Grapple]] shows his fellow [[Autobots]] a working model of a [[Solar Tower]] he asks for [[Optimus Prime]]'s permission to build a life-size version. However, fearing what could happen should such a device fall into [[Megatron]]'s hands, Prime denies Grapple's request. But when the [[Constructicon]]s learn of Grapple's solar tower, they claim they have left Megatron and abandoned the [[Decepticons]] and they offer to help Grapple and [[Hoist (G1)|Hoist]] build a full-size solar tower.

When Megatron hears of the Constructicons' plans he confronts them and devises a plan to allow him to use the completeted solar tower for his own cause.

Sentinel Prime was Autobot leader for the first 500,000 years of the [[Great War]]. More physically massive than Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime's armor was made of trithyllium alloy impregnated with irradiated carbon fibers, unbreakable short of a precisely-aimed point-blank shot.

Sentinel Prime's primary weapons were his swiveling shoulder cannons, capable of firing a variety of specialized payloads including concussive and shrapnel-needle shells, and gyro-inhibiting and magnetic inducer shells. (Disruptive warheads which foul an opponent's systems.) He was also armed with a solar-energy rifle and an energon-charged sword.

Sentinel Prime used an [[electro-disrupter]], a device capable of projecting several copies of his image, to disorient his opponents in battle. When interrupted, electro-disrupter images de-rez, leaving a visible path back to the real projector. Because using direct attacks would reveal which image was the real Sentinel Prime, he must limit himself to indirect weapons like shrapnel shells when using it.

Sentinel Prime's only physical weakness was his shoulder-cannons. A direct hit down their barrel could cause the ammunition inside to explode, causing catastrophic damage. To minimize that risk, he swivels the cannons to his back except when about to fire. <ref>Nearly all of his technical specifications come from descriptions found in the Keepers Trilogy.</ref>

8.2 million years ago, Sentinel Prime went to reason with [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], seeking to reach him with sermon and doctrine. He failed and was tortured and destroyed by Megatron. Megatron was chagrined to discover that Sentinel Prime (suspecting he may be killed) had not brought the Matrix with him into battle.

The Matrix used a vision of Sentinel Prime to strengthen Optimus Prime's resolve during a battle with Megatron by confronting him with the claim that Megatron had chosen Optimus to be Prime, knowing that he was weak. Megatron's alleged influence over the Prime selection process was never substantiated.

[[Keepers|The Keepers]] subsequently created a robotic duplicate of Sentinel Prime to confuse Optimus and undermine his confidence. Though possessing all of Sentinel Prime's considerable abilities, Optimus eventually realized that the duplicate had been created from his own memories of Sentinel Prime, and was incapable of doing anything ''new.'' Optimus destroyed the duplicate of Sentinel Prime, having largely overcome his own doubts about his fitness to be Autobot leader.

In the ancient past of Cybertron's peacetime, Sentinel Prime (or Sentinal Prime, according to the comic) operated out of the [[Security Services HQ]] in [[Kaon]], generally regarded as "the worst place on Cybertron." Prime had much disdain for government authority, viewing the rulers Senators to be spoiled whiners. He worked beside [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] as his lieutenant. {{storylink|Megatron Origin, Part 1}}

After a surge in illegal gladiatorial bloodsport, he assigned [[Bumper]] and [[Fastback]] to stake out one of the sites associated with the matches as part of a dragnet. Unfortunately, their communications were jammed by [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] just prior to their untimely demises.{{storylink|Megatron Origin, Part 2}}

*As revealed in the [[Transformers Collectors' Club]] roundtable panel at [[BotCon 2007]], the original concept for the convention-[[exclusive]] redeco of [[Cybertron Defense Team|Cybertron Defense]] [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] was Sentinel Prime. '''Dreamwave Productions''' was a fairly unknown independent comic book publisher when it obtained the ''Transformers'' license in 2001. For a time, there was gigantic buzz surrounding Dreamwave's relaunch of the Generation 1 title, even pushing it past Marvel and DC's top titles. Many comic book fans had been away from Transformers for a long time and were overjoyed to see highly detailed manga-style art driving a childhood favorite.

Dreamwave published a good deal of ''Transformers'' books, including many varied miniseries, before capitulating to the notoriously fickle comic-buying public. Towards the end of 2004 delays started getting more and more frequent. This was followed by rumors of writers and artists leaving because they weren't being paid, which were then confirmed. In early January 2005, Dreamwave declared bankruptcy, and there were no Transformers comics to be had for more than half of 2005.

'''Star Wars''' is the catch-all banner for an intergalactic conflict between several factions of humanoid aliens and robots engaged in a galactic war.

Known factions include Bounty Hunters, Empire, [[Jedi]], Rebel, Republic, Separatist, and [[Sith]].

==Battle mechs==
Many "star warriors" fight using Transformer-like battle mecha that change from vehicles to large combat robots. These mecha are piloted from within and are not sapient beings like true Cybertronian [[Transformer]]s. The pilots trigger their vehicle's transformation by summoning something called "The Force" or "the dark side". The nature of this mechanism is unclear, but we do know that vehicle-to-robot conversions are a "new technology" for them.

Rather unique to this conflict, many of the key figures in these Star Wars pilot clearly customized mecha whose robot modes are based closely on their own physical appearance. Based on the ''possible'' size of the star warriors relative to the average Transformer ''(see below)'', their transforming ships may be on a scale with massive city-bots like [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]].

Perhaps similar to the inhabitants of [[Femax]], these fearsome beings, though in many cases strikingly [[human]]-like, might be of a gigantic stature, equaling the size of many Transformers. Rare images of star warriors battling against Transformers from the [[Unicron Trilogy]] have been uncovered, though the context is unclear. It has also been speculated that perhaps the Transformers themselves had been somehow reduced in stature for this conflict, or the star warriors' size similarly increased from their normal standard, but without further context, it is impossible to determine which holds true.

==Fiction==
===Unicron Trilogy===
Indications are that the star warriors are native to a universe within the Unicron Trilogy family. In the [[Attacktix]] conflict, they are in an "Intergalactic Showdown" with [[Omega Sentinel]] and those continuities' most recent versions of the [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]]. Given the name of their encounter and the lack of any scrap of a reference to travel between universes, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor Occam's razor] indicates we should assume that these characters are from another galaxy in the same universe. Since a galaxy outside the Milky Way is by definition far, far away from [[Cybertron]], [[Earth]], and [[Mars|other]] [[Nebulos|planets]] local to the Transformers, encounters with the star warriors being an extreme rarity is no suprise.

Hopefully some day more information on this conflict and its [[Spider-Man|other]] [[Nicholas|participants]] may come to light, though the inclusion of numerous [[Generation 1]] and [[Movie (franchise)|Movie]] multiverse Transformers in the conflict casts an odd light on the issue.

===Generation 1===

A pair of mechanoids ''similar'' to two droids that are known participants in the Star Wars ''have'' been seen in a Generation 1 universe at the [[Schaeffer Energy]] plant, suggesting either dimensional travel, or the existence of alternate universe analogues of at least some of the star warriors, or bloody amazing coincidence (actual scientific term). Since these droids only appear in the far foreground of a scene containing a human child, [[Micromaster]]s, and [[Star Saber]] behind them, it is impossible to determine their heights.

At around the same time, [[Star Saber]] travelled to the settlement of [[Iron Town]] on an unnamed planet. The population there included the [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ewok Ewok] and [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jawa Jawa] alien species involved in the Star Wars.

The tall golden droid (or robots that resemble him) has also been seen in ''another'' Generation 1 universe. One was a citizen of the [[Dead End (place)|Dead End]] of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], its appearance (and poor state of repair) recorded for posterity as [[Scrounge]] rolled through on one of his spy missions. It also bears a striking resemblance to the [[Chromite]] mechanical aliens.

In the [[Sector Seven (game)|Sector Seven game]] universe within the [[Movie (franchise)|Movie]] [[continuity family]], [[Reggie Simmons]] and [[John Ho]] attended the premiere of the film ''Star Wars'' at [[Wikipedia:Grauman's_Chinese_Theater|Grauman's Chinese Theater]] on May 25, 1977. This is the same universe in which the film ''Transformers'' (July 4, 2007) is part of a counter-intelligence campaign by Simmons' [[Sector Seven]] organization to discredit claims of the existence of alien robots.
