{{disambig3|Seaspray}}
:''Seaspray is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Generation 1 continuity family]].''

[[Image:G1SeasprayColorModel.jpg|right|300px|thumb|In the Navy! Come on and join your fellow 'bot!]]
[[Earth]]'s ocean: an immense and drastically variable desert made of water, which hides a menagerie of the largest, the smallest, and the strangest creatures on the planet. Sunk in its dark and trackless depths lie ancient and forgotten relics, mingled with the spoils and remains of Man. This ocean, this vast mystery, is '''Seaspray'''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s element, and he loves it dearly.

The oceans of Earth are not alone in his affections. On any planet, at any time, Seaspray is a consummate sailor. Because he is not very comfortable on land, Seaspray does not do well in ground fighting. On the water, however, he has few equals.

==Fiction==
===''The Transformers'' cartoon===
:''Voice actor:'' [[Alan Oppenheimer]] (English), [[Masashi Ebara]] (Japanese), [[Alejandro Abdalah]] (Latin American)
[[Image:GoldenLagoon Seaspray vehicle mode.jpg|thumb|left|250px]]
Seaspray was first seen on Earth fighting pirates with [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]] and [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] when a time warp unleashed a ship full of them on the 20th century. After locating the vessel with his radar, Seaspray helped the other Autobots push the galleon back through the timewarp before it sealed up. {{storylink|Dinobot Island, Part 2}}

He was next seen helping [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and [[Beachcomber (G1)|Beachcomber]] on a geological survey near the coast. When [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]] and the [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]] staged a surprise attack, Seaspray engaged [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] in battle over open waters. Remarkably, the dim-witted Decepticon tried to ''ram'' the Autobot hovercraft and ended up splashing into the briny drink for his troubles. Seaspray got thrown for a loop when Ramjet eventually came back up for air, but still managed to shoot down the [[Conehead]] in the end. [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]]'s discovery of a nearby [[electrum]] pool took away any chance of a fair fight, however, and so Seaspray and Perceptor were captured and taken back to the Decepticon undersea base.

[[Image:MakeTracks Seaspray communicator.jpg|thumb|right|230px|"Damn, it got wet and broke again."]]
After the entire Decepticon army coated themselves with electrum, [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] forced the two Autobots to fight to the death for the amusement of his troops. They attempted to escape by blowing a hole in the outer hull, but were caught on the way out by [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]], who was returning with a third prisoner, Beachcomber. The Autobot geologist later managed to disable their guards, and they shot their way to freedom through a porthole. Using Seaspray's back-mounted propellers, they sped their way to safety and joined up with the rest of the Autobots at the electrum pool. {{storylink|The Golden Lagoon}}

Working with the [[New York City]] police on their Crimebuster program, Seaspray had the unenviable task of patrolling the Hudson River and other waterways. He found nothing useful but sludge and grime. {{storylink|Make Tracks}}

[[Image:SeaChange Human Seaspray.jpg|left|180px|thumb|Why <s>would</s> <b>wouldn't</b> he want to become Fabio?]]
Out waterskiing with [[Bumblebee (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Bumblebee]] one afternoon, the two Autobots stopped at dusk and Seaspray engaged in an old Earth superstition, wishing on the first star of the evening. He didn't tell Bumblebee what his wish was for, but moments later, they received a garbled distress signal from a distant planet. After conferring with [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]], they took Perceptor and [[Cosmos (G1)|Cosmos]] to investigate the signal, only to discover it had been sent by a Decepticon creation known as [[Deceptitran]], requesting aid because his slaves were revolting. The Autobots quickly got involved with the local revolution, and "bubble-head" just as quickly fell head over heels for [[Alana]], one of the human leaders of the rebellion. Thanks to the miraculous [[Well of Transformation]] used by her people, the [[Tlalakan]]s, both Seaspray and Alana were able to experience life in the other's shoes, with him temporarily becoming (mostly) human and her changing into a robot. Deceptitran and his allies were defeated, and Seaspray proved that even a chunky robot with a throat full of mouthwash can find true love. {{storylink|Sea Change}}

In 2006, Seaspray joined [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]] on a search for [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]]'s remains, only to find the giant Decepticon city had not been permanently destroyed by [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] as they had believed. Seaspray picked up a trail, but must have lost it, because it ultimately took Perceptor's separate analysis to locate Trypticon in the Federated Democratic Republic...whatever of [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya|Carbombya]]. {{storylink|Thief in the Night}}
{{noteukonly}}
[[Image:Smeltingpoolminivehicles.jpg|right|150px|thumb|Fish out of water.]]
Seaspray was a member of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor's]] [[Cybertron Seven|resistance cell]] on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. {{storylink|The Smelting Pool!}} He was transported to [[Earth]] with some of his comrades after the raid on [[Darkmount]]. {{storylink|The Bridge to Nowhere!}}

After the catastrophic [[Underbase Saga]], Seaspray was aboard the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]], still functional and helping to move damaged Autobots about. {{storylink|The Man in the Machine!}} ''He was later offlined somehow.'' {{storylink|The Greatest Gift of All!}}

====Marvel UK future timelines====
Seaspray was part of the Autobot army during the all-out battle that Unicron instigated. He was in the thick of it, gunning down one Decepticon at pointblank range ''without looking'' while also firing on a tank. {{storylink|The Legacy of Unicron!}}

{{-}}
===Dreamwave comics continuity===
Seaspray was among the Autobots working for [[Smokescreen (G1)|Smokescreen]] and [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]] in an insurgency group on Cybertron and helped with rising up and overthrowing [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] alongside [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the Ark's crew. Later, he was chosen to travel to Earth aboard the starship ''[[Orion]]'' under [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]]'s command, only to run into the super-freak named [[Sunstorm (G1)|Sunstorm]]. {{storylink|Night of the Combaticons}} The Autobots found themselves forced into a devil's deal with [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] in order to protect the Decepticon leader from his crazed clone brother. He did lead them to the Earthbound Autobots he had already disposed of, but then Starscream turned on his Autobot handlers, disabling Seaspray and his fellow soldiers before making his getaway. {{storylink|The Omega Effect}} [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] quickly got them back online, though, and Seaspray began working on the construction of Autobot City. {{storylink|The Route of All Evil}}

===IDW comics continuity===
Seaspray joined the Autobot forces on Earth at some point after the Decepticon invasion was averted. He arrived alongside [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] and [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]]. {{storylink|Spotlight: Prowl}} Seaspray was seemingly captured by [[Skywatch]] at sea at some point. {{storylink|Seasons in Flight}} After escaping or getting rescued, he lined up with the rest of the Autobot troops when [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] came to investigate their situation. {{storylink|A Rude Awakening}}
*'''Seaspray''' (Mini Vehicle, 1985)
** ''Japanese ID number:'' '''C-64'''

:Seaspray's ''[[The Transformers (toyline)|Generation 1]]'' figure stands three inches tall and is one of the smaller figures of the line. The figure has a simple color scheme consisting of blue arms and feet, a white chest, and yellow legs as well as head and propeller system. The figure's only real articulation is at the shoulders. Like all the [[Mini Vehicle]]s, Seaspray is available in a variety of pack-in variations. He was available with or without a [[Mini-spy]] figure. The mold has the Takara and/or Hasbro copyright stamp on the bottom of the feet portion.

===Generation 2===
*'''Seaspray''' (Mini Vehicle, 1993)

:Seaspray's ''[[Generation 2 (toyline)|Generation 2]]'' release used the same mold as the ''Generation 1'' release, but with the dark blue replaced with a dark blue chrome. It is otherwise identical in mold and color.

:A rare variant exists that may have been a test shot run. These figures were apparently given out internally by Hasbro as [[Christmas]] ornaments, as they have been found bagged with a string attached and a card reading "Transformers Christmas ornament" on one side and "Merry Christmas from the Boys' Toys Marketing" on the other. The same treatment has been seen with a variant ''Generation 2'' [[Beachcomber (G1)|Beachcomber]].

==Notes==
*Seaspray made an appearance in one of five original Generation 1 [[public service announcement]]s, urging nautical children to wear life-preservers. In this PSA, he was voiced by [[Wally Burr]] rather than [[Alan Oppenheimer]], his usual voice actor.
*Speaking of Alan Oppenheimer, the voice he used for Seaspray was virtually the same as what he used for Mer-Man on the early-80s version of the ''He-Man and the Masters of the Universe'' cartoon.
*A reference to Seaspray is made in the [[Transformers The Game|video game]] based on the [[Michael Bay]] [[Transformers (2007)|film]]. Various billboards advertise "Seaspray's Fish 'n' Chips". On the DS Versions, a boat in Tranquility is named ''U.S.S. Seaspray''.
* The [[Sea Spray]] character from the [[Transformers (2010 toyline)|2010 toyline]] was apparently [[Authorial intent|intended]] to be ''this'' Seaspray, according to a [[Hasbro Q&A]] at the time. However, his bio and fictional appearances are rather at odds with this, portraying him alongside live-action film-style characters. As of November 2010, Hasbro maintains he is NOT a movie-verse character, so... well [[Personal canon|you]] can decide for yourself if he really belongs here instead.
Crankstart found a remote beach in eastern [[Africa]]<ref>[[Breacher]]'s bio</ref> to hide from the Autobots. This turned out to be pretty boring, so he would sometimes fire off a missile at passing human sea vessels to pass the time. Many years ago, Armorhide was a civilian during the reign of Protector [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] and science division leader [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus]]. This peaceful existence ended when a [[The Fallen|mysterious relic]] was discovered outside the temple of [[Simfur]], and Megatron changed the military's mission of defending [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to open conquest, Armorhide joined with Optimus ''Prime's'' new faction, the Autobots. He was hiding out at an Autobot facility when [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]] arrived to offer his allegiance to Optimus. During the subsequent civil war, He was present when Optimus Prime revealed his plan to capture the [[AllSpark (Movie)|All Spark]], and due to the lack of space on the ''[[Ark (Movie)|Ark]]'', some Autobots would have to stay behind. Armorhide was among those who volunteered to stay. {{Storylink|Defiance issue 4}}
In response to the threat of [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] at the [[Hoover Dam]], Salazar unveiled, the L.M.-1. As the group prepared to dump the Decepticon remains, Vine wondered if L.M.-1's mechanical failure had anything to do with Wreckage's earlier rampage and forced shut-down. Before long, the Decepticon was brought back online by the one remaining fragment of the [[AllSpark (Movie)|All Spark]]. This makes him the only newly created mold from the movie toyline for a character who's not part of the movie cast that is a faithful recreation of the vehicle the toy is based on, without any major artistic liberties taken to circumvent licensing fees, such as [[Longarm (Movie)|Longarm]], [[Arcee (Movie)|Arcee]], [[Incinerator (Movie)|Incinerator]] or [[Stockade (Movie)|Stockade]].
