With the [[human]] [[Sam Witwicky]] believing that the Decepticons wished to capture Sentinel and force him to use the control pillar to activate his space bridge, Crankcase, [[Hatchet]] and [[Crowbar]] were sent to pursue the Autobots. Crowbar closed in on [[Seymour Simmons|Seymour Simmons']] car, transformed, reached in and tossed the former [[Sector Seven]] agent behind him as he bounded ahead to knock over a highway sign for the other two to use as a ramp.

However, despite their best collective efforts to slow down the Autobots, Hatchet was quickly destroyed, and the remaining Dreads were soon confronted by the Autobot heavy-hitter, [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]], who stopped them in their tracks with a head-on collision. Faced with Ironhide's heavy weapons and [[Sideswipe (Movie)|Sideswipe]], the Dreads seemingly capitulated by dropping their ranged weapons, but as soon as the Autobots followed suit, deployed spears to attack their enemies. With the legs only extending the intended length, he is now one of the shorter-to-average sized Legion figures in the line (Ignoring the truck hood hanging over his head). The joint of the hood/roof/backpack, where it connects to the back, has also had more plastic added so it cannot move more than a millimeter or two back away from the back of the head, just enough to get the chest hood chunks past it during transformation. The original version had no restrictions, and could be pushed back all the way until the bottom of the roof hit the back of the thighs. (This made it a little less obvious that he had a truck hood behind his head, at the expense of a big empty gap at his back.)

As a result of increased Decepticon activity, [[Stratosphere]] was tasked with transporting early [[MechTech]] samples from a NEST base in the Himalayas to Optimus Prime's location for safekeeping. Air Raid was one of the officers there, and intercepted a Decepticon intruder who had been surprised by a NEST trap. To his surprise, the intruder turned out to be the high-ranking Decepticon [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], who had been ordered to track down and destroy the MechTech.

Air Raid briefly engaged Starscream in the base proper along with a squad of Autobots and NEST helicopters, but when Starscream proved too powerful, he retreated to the runway where Stratosphere was preparing to lift off. Despite leading Starscream on a merry chase through the mountains, with NEST forces launching ambushes with anti-aircraft fire and missiles, Air Raid was unable to either disable or lose his pursuer. He did, however, manage to warn Stratosphere of Starscream's approach and board his comrade before the Decepticon arrived.

When Stratosphere's fighter escort and anti-aircraft gun proved unable to bring down Starscream, the massive Autobot unleashed the [[Aerialbot (ROTF)|Aerialbots]], made up of Air Raid, [[Breakaway (ROTF)|Breakaway]] and [[Silverbolt (ROTF)|Silverbolt]]. Now ready for round two, Air Raid confidently assured Stratosphere that they would not fail.
