The Autobots fight to defend Detroit from Megatron and his clones of Omega Supreme.

Synopsis
Outside the plant, the Autobots observe the Lugnut Supremes hovering above Detroit. Bumblebee wonders what they are, and Ratchet assumes that Megatron repurposed Starscream's cloning technology to make clones of Omega Supreme. Aboard the main Lugnut Supreme, Megatron decides to start the field test with Sumdac Tower. Lugnut pontificates on the greatness of Megatron rather than getting it done, leading the annoyed Decepticon leader to ask Shockwave if he can control the clones directly yet. However, Shockwave is still working on finding the necessary security patches from Arcee's memory banks, and tells Megatron in an amused tone that he'll have to filter all orders for the clones through Lugnut.

In Detroit, the Lugnuts turn and open fire on Sumdac Tower. Fortunately, the force field goes up and protects the building. Unfortunately, it will only last for so long. Ratchet says that they need to launch an aerial assault with the Magnus Hammer, but Optimus Prime is a little unsure. Prowl then reinforces his leader's faltering confidence by promising to accompany him. Sari then offers to join them, and cuts off Optimus's "No, Sari—" with a rant about how she's always being told it's "too dangerous" for her to help, leaving her embarrassed when Prime says he was going to tell her to help protect the humans. He orders the others to help Sari in this, while he and Prowl take to the skies. Megatron initially assumes that the figure bearing the Magnus Hammer is Ultra Magnus himself, and is quite relieved when he sees it's only Optimus. The two airborne Autobots manage to avoid the missiles sent in their direction, but Prime's opening shot with the Magnus Hammer misses the Lugnuts. Ratchet says that he's receiving Omega's signal from the moon, and suggests they transwarp to the moon and sever Megatron's connection. Optimus approves, and orders him to take Bumblebee and Bulkhead with him. Prowl says that they need to bring the Lugnuts down all at once, and Optimus uses the Magnus Hammer to cause a tornado which sends the Lugnuts crashing toward Dinobot Island. Megatron, livid, tells Lugnut to abort the field test, but Lugnut is forced to inform him that Prime's attack managed to damage the one Megatron was in and disable the flight mechanisms of the other two. Furious, Megatron tells him to have the clones destroy everything except Megatron himself, then leaves his clone and assumes his flight mode, intending to take a more direct role.

At Sumdac Tower, Ratchet fires up the space bridge, ready to take Bumblebee and Bulkhead to retrieve Arcee and Omega Supreme. Sari decides to go with them, telling Isaac Sumdac that she needs to go. Transforming to her full robot mode, she jumps through the portal with the Autobots. On the moon, Starscream reassembles himself and immediately takes off for Earth, saying he has a surprise for Megatron. The Autobots transwarp in mere moments after he leaves, as Sari is momentarily stunned just by being on the Moon, while the Autobots are more surprised by the lack of Decepticons around. Over by Omega Supreme, Ratchet sees Arcee and runs to her. Unfortunately, she's reverted to her fugue Teacher Bot state. Worse, she's bait: Shockwave fires at them, barely missing them. Bumblebee and Bulkhead take on Shockwave, while Ratchet and Sari take Arcee inside Omega Supreme. Both bots are taken down, but Bulkhead manages to recover and charge Shockwave, knocking off his cannon. Shockwave briefly assumes his Longarm form and pleads for mercy, but Bulkhead destroys his cannon with his wrecking ball. Inside Omega Supreme, Ratchet discovers the damage to Arcee's processor is quite extensive, and any attempts to repair her could take her offline. Sari scans the malfunctioning intelbot and gives Ratchet instructions on how to use his EMP generator to restore her memory from her internal backups.

Over Detroit, Prime orders Prowl to break off from their fight with Megatron, find Jazz and try to slow the clones down. As he grapples with the Decepticon leader, he snaps and loudly declares his name after being patronisingly called "Autobot" by Megatron yet again.

In Omega Supreme, Ratchet manages to bring Arcee fully online, her memory back at the time it was when Lockdown captured them. Ratchet promises that they'll catch up in time, but right now they need her activation codes to retake control of Omega Supreme. Bumblebee and Bulkhead enter and say they've found something Sari needs to see.

Back on Earth, on the ground, Prowl and Jazz try to get inside the Lugnut Supremes, but their armor is too strong to cut through, and Jazz radios Prime with news of their failure. Optimus tells them that the only thing powerful enough to shield the city is the AllSpark, but it's scattered everywhere. In return, flushed by his recent success in reconstituting a fragment, Prowl theorizes that they can use processor-over-matter to make the AllSpark whole again. Prime is doubtful, but Prowl is adamant, and flies his fellow ninjabot to Sumdac Tower.

As Ratchet and Arcee make their way to Omega Supreme's head, Sari is brought before the protoforms, and—believing this to be where she came from—gets a moment of closure from the experience. Outside, Ratchet uses his magnets to keep Arcee above Omega's face and the fembot uploads the codes, severing Lugnut's control over him. Omega Supreme ejects the massive Decepticon and heads for Earth once Sari and all the Autobots are aboard, with the three remaining protoforms.

On Earth, with Lugnut no longer guiding them, the clones briefly shut down... then reactivate with Starscream's face. The treacherous Decepticon tells Megatron that he planted bombs in the clones, aiming to destroy him and everything within a hundred-mile radius. Unable to remove the bombs inside, Megatron decides to instead destroy Optimus Prime, using the Autobot captain's name for the very first time. At Sumdac Tower, the force field fails much to Isaac Sumdac's distress, and Prowl and Jazz direct him to the building's bomb shelter, before they begin using processor-over-matter to collecting AllSpark fragments. Starscream arrives to observe the death of Megatron, but his AllSpark fragment suddenly begins pulling him toward the AllSpark being formed by Jazz and Prowl. Starscream panics and tries to destroy the two ninja-bots, but his AllSpark fragment is pulled from his head, and Starscream falls to the street, dead.

Omega Supreme arrives and begins fighting the two clones. He is able to defeat one and disarm its bomb, but the other knocks him aside and forces him back to ship mode. At Sumdac Tower, Jazz says that they don't have enough Spark to shield the city, but neither he nor Prowl can pull in any more AllSpark fragments. Prowl recognizes that there is one other way to make the AllSpark chunk powerful enough, and levitates towards it. Jazz recognizes what he intends to do, and screams that they can find another way, but Prowl merely turns to give him a reassuring smile. Suddenly, the AllSpark releases a surge of energy, and Prowl falls back to the ground. Jazz catches his body, but it is too late: Prowl merged his spark with the AllSpark to give them the energy necessary to make the force field work. A field soon forms around the remaining clone, but Megatron and Optimus Prime are trapped within it. Megatron gloats that he will take Optimus with him, but a figure of light in Prowl's image removes Optimus from the force field. Megatron roars in anger as the clone detonates, and everything goes white...

Waking up, Optimus sees his fellow bots around him. They declare that they won, and begin to celebrate... until Jazz comes carrying Prowl's shell. Optimus moves toward his fallen comrade, but is instead knocked backwards by a purple blast. Megatron still functions! Ratchet uses his magnets to throw the Magnus Hammer to Optimus. In a rage, Optimus beats Megatron down. Lying helpless, Megatron urges Optimus to finish him, and Optimus brings the Magnus Hammer down...on Megatron's fusion cannon. Optimus says that killing Megatron is the easy way out, and the Decepticon leader doesn't deserve that. Instead, he places stasis cuffs on him.

On Cybertron, the Autobots return is hailed by a cheering crowd (except for Sentinel Prime, who glowers), with Optimus carrying the Magnus Hammer, the large piece of the AllSpark around his neck, and Ratchet, Bumblebee, Bulkhead, and Jazz bearing Prowl's body. In addition, they bring with them the three rescued protoforms, and Megatron, Lugnut, and Shockwave as prisoners. Finally, to top it off, Omega Supreme transforms from ship mode, and this sends the crowd into another round of cheering, hailing Optimus Prime and his crew as the heroes they have proven themselves to be.
Quotes
Megatron: Lugnut, let's begin this field test with Sumdac Tower. I want to see my former prison crumble to the ground.<br>
Lugnut: As you command, oh great and glorious Megatron! Your genius exceeds all others! And I am but your humble and obedient servant! Furthermore—<br>
Megatron: Shockwave! Is there anyway to bypass this endless pontificating and command these clones directly?<br>
Shockwave: Still working on the data patch, my liege. Until then, you'll just have to relay all. Orders. Through. Lugnut.
:—Megatron desperately seeks to cut out the middleman, while Shockwave demonstrates how to smirk without a face.

Sari: I'm going too! I have a jetpack.<br>
Optimus: No, Sari, it's—<br>
Sari: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's "too dangerous", I know. It's always "too dangerous"!<br>
Optimus: I was going to say, "It's more important for you to protect your father and your fellow organics."<br>
Sari: Oh. Right. Sorry.
:—Sari isn't used to being treated as an equal.

Megatron: Lugnut, this field test has been a complete failure! Order the other clones back to the Moon immediately!<br>
Lugnut: Forgive me, oh Great One, but their flight capabilities have been disabled.<br>
Megatron: Then destroy the Autobots. Destroy the city. Destroy anything that's not me!
:-Megatron may have finally went off the deep-end. And it shows, too.

"Get away from my weapons of mass destruction."<br>
:—Megatron, apparently about to send Optimus Prime to bed without his supper.

Shockwave: (changes to Longarm) G-guys...buddies...you..wouldn't want to take out your old platoon mate Longarm, would you?<br>
Bumblebee: No....of course we wouldn't.<br>
Bulkhead: Oh, not in a million stellar cycles, pal.<br>
(smashes Shockwave's arm cannon)
:—Not all Autobots are that gullible, Shockwave. Thanks for playing, though.

Ratchet: Those Deceptiscums fried her processor trying to remove the activation code....but if I tried to rewire her circuitry, it could take her offline for good.<br>
Sari: (touches Arcee on the knee) You need to recalibrate your EMP generator into a data recovery tool. Then you can salvage Arcee's secondary memory storage from her hard drive, bypassing her corrupted input/output systems.<br>
Ratchet: I suppose us...machines just told you that?<br>
Sari: Pretty much.<br>

:—In case you didn't get that, Sari has just solved in five seconds what Cybertron's greatest minds couldn't for millions of years. Wait. WHAT?!

"You're a persistent little Autobot."<br>
"My name is OPTIMUS PRIME!"
:—Megatron and Optimus Prime

"If I cannot save my clones, at least I'll have the satisfaction of destroying you, Optimus Prime."<br>
"So, you can remember my name!"
:—Took you long enough, Megatron.

Notes
Animation or technical errors
* When Omega Supreme runs towards one of the Lugnut Supremes, the clone has a purple Autobot symbol on its midsection as it gets up.

* Megatron's helicopter cockpit kibble (usually seen behind his head on his back) briefly vanishes for a second as he kicks Optimus Prime towards the AllSpark-powered force field.

* Prowl's ghost appears with his armour on, but when it reaches out to save Optimus, the armour has vanished.

* When Megatron makes one last attempt to destroy Optimus Prime, his right shoulder guard is drawn rather small. As he's knocked down to Earth and insists Optimus finishes him, it reverts back to its proper size.

* Quite a number of animation errors can be seen immediately after Optimus Prime stasis cuffs Megatron (right before a kneeling Omega Supreme gets up.) The Magnus Hammer has disappeared, Prowl's body is drawn like a boxy black mannequin in Jazz's arms with very little detail, Jazz himself (as well as Bulkhead) are missing their Autobot insignias, Bumblebee appears rather tiny compared to the other Autobots, and Sari appears to be either hovering off of the ground or standing on Bulkhead's foot. Oh, and Arcee is missing from the shot as well. Dandy.

*When Optimus Prime first disembarks from Omega Supreme at the end of the episode, he is shown to be almost as tall as Megatron and Lugnut, who, by all rights, should be towering over him in height. They are drawn at their proper scale once they stand before the cheering crowd, though.

* When the Autobots hold up Prowl's coffin before the cheering crowd (as seen in the picture on this page), Prowl's body is drawn rather short. If one compared the height of his body to Bumblebee at his left, Bumblebee would actually be a head taller.

* The Magnus Hammer's handle again changes length from shot to shot.

Continuity errors
*Due to the incomplete activation code, the Lugnut Supremes only worked when Lugnut consciously directed them from Omega Supreme. Yet after Omega tossed him out, not only did Starscream take them over, they continued to function autonomously after he was dead.

Transformers references
*At the very end, Optimus Prime is shown with the large piece of AllSpark which Jazz and Prowl pulled together, in a container strongly resembling the Matrix of Leadership—and he's wearing it on a chain around his neck.

*Even at this late stage, a new face still appears in the crowd scene on Cybertron: Hubcap. Dai Atlas and Sky Garry make their first in-person appearances (though Dai Atlas only appears from behind), and the unnamed, orange female robot, whose arm could juuuuuust be seen poking in from offscreen back in "Decepticon Air", also gets to appear in full. The crowd also includes a crazy amount of miscolored-slash-generic robots, including such gems as a Hot Shot-colored robot using the Bumblebee body-form, a blue-and-green Sky Garry and a yellow Warpath.

* Yoketron's dying words in "Five Servos of Doom" (where he tells Prowl that he will understand when his time comes) finally come to pass.

*Speaking of, Prowl's decision to merge with the Allspark to control its energy is very reminiscent of Alpha Trion's decision to merge with Vector Sigma in "The Key to Vector Sigma." Similarly, both episodes also hint that the Autobots in question may not be dead, so much as "become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."

* As Optimus approaches the Lugnut Supremes, Megatron confuses him for Ultra Magnus. Gee, I wonder why?

Real-world references
*Ratchet refers to the Lugnut Supremes as "knockoffs".

Trivia
*Shockwave transforms into a purple Longarm. Maybe he was just confused or something.

*Jazz states that they can't find all the AllSpark fragments; at the very least, this makes sense because Skywarp, Thundercracker, Sunstorm, and Ramjet aren't on Earth anymore. There is no indication that any other Earthbound characters animated by AllSpark fragments were defragmented and killed like Starscream, and they don't seem to be kept alive the same way he is. At 2009, the writers revealed that they had intended to show Wreck-Gar and at least one of the Constructicons to confirm their survival, but that this scene was cut for time.

*This is the first episode since "Megatron Rising - Part 2" to feature Prime's faceplate.

*Shockwave claimed in "This Is Why I Hate Machines" that using Omega Supreme's original activation codes on him once more would wipe his memories, morals and personality, allowing a new mentor-con to turn him into a model Decepticon—a fact which Ratchet and Perceptor apparently both agreed was true. Since Arcee uses the codes on Omega in this episode, did this cause a reset to factory settings? If not, why not? Could it perhaps have something to do with that patch they were talking about?

*There seems to be a scene missing involving Lugnut - when Omega Supreme discards him onto the lunar surface and flies to Earth, he is neither captured nor incapacitated, and it's been shown repeatedly that Decepticons (including Starscream in this episode and Lugnut himself in "Lost and Found") are capable of making at least the Moon-Earth trip under their own power, where Slipstream has apparently evaded detection for the whole of S3. His off-screen capture is therefore noteworthy.

*Arcee didn't join the other Autobots on their victory/funeral parade at the end.

* It is revealed during the events of this episode, that while in her robot mode, Sari doesn't need an external oxygen supply.

* As of this episode, there's a lot of remaining uncaptured Decepticons!
**Thundercracker and Skywarp are still floating out somewhere in space.
**Blackarachnia and a bleeding, shattered Waspinator are still in that mysterious jungle, precise whereabouts (and even whenabouts) unknown.
**Laserbeak fled the scene with the sentient part of Soundwave in "Human Error, Part II".
**Scrapper's whereabouts are presumably still known to the Autobots; he may have returned to Dinobot Island with Snarl after "Human Error".
**Swindle leaves for parts unknown in "Decepticon Air".
**Lockdown, Slipstream, Team Chaar and any unseen Decepticons all remain at large.
**Mixmaster and Dirt Boss may have been destroyed in the explosion in "Three's a Crowd"—if not, add them to the list.
*Several other plot points have yet to have been resolved by the end of this episode:
**Sari's origin has yet to be completely explained. It still hasn't been revealed how or why a protoform showed up on Earth years ago, or why it looked so different compared to other protoforms seen during the course of the series. Since it has been shown that all the protoforms Lockdown stole were blanks, it's unlikely she came from that batch.
**Meltdown was last shown apparently reconstituting himself at the end of "Black Friday", and has not been seen since.
**Wreck-Gar and all three Dinobots are not present at the end of the episode, and presumably are still on Earth. Although it could be speculated that they stayed there by choice, one must wonder what kind of measures that Optimus and company took to prevent said bots from any more disastrous encounters with the populace of Earth.
**Ultra Magnus was last seen being repaired, but his fate isn't revealed.
** Blurr was last seen crushed into a cube and tossed into an incinerator. We don't see him get incinerated, though we also don't see any evidence he survived being cubified.

*So they didn't have time to show the fates of Wreck-Gar, the Constructicons and the Dinobots but they had plenty of time for stock footage? About 44 seconds worth of stock footage.

* This is the final episode to feature Optimus, Sentinel, Megatron, Starscream, Lugnut and every other character in the series. We remind you so we may see you weep...we hate to cry alone.
Slo-Mo first appeared on the scene as a mysterious benefactor who helped out several of Detroit's B-List villains, saving them from capture by the Autobots with an Allspark-empowered timepiece. Gathering these three "also-rans" at her former place of employment, she introduced herself. Formerly a production line worker, she one day discovered what would prove to be an AllSpark fragment mixed into the quartz crystals she fitted into clocks. When it was installed in a clock-like housing, she found it slowed down all electronic and mechanical systems, from automobiles to automatons to Autobots. She realized this was a chance to make it big, she set out on a career in crime, but she also had the sense to recognize she was an amateur at the game, so she proposed that the gathered crooks could
restyle themselves as a crime syndicate. She also revealed that it was her AllSpark-powered timepiece that had undone Nino Sexton's premature
aging, and this favor seemed to kindle a potential relationship between the two.

The as-yet-unnamed syndicate's first bust quickly went south on them, however, when they became cornered not only by the Autobot Bumblebee (who was quickly defeated by Slo-Mo's timepiece) but also by the flesh-and-blood officers of the DPD. Fortunately, an anonymous caller on her watch-phone quickly offered them the services of a nearby Sports Utility Vehicle as a getaway car, complete with 4-wheel-drive, inbuilt weaponry, and comfortable seating for four (complete with a booster seat for Professor Princess). Speeding away, she was nonetheless unimpressed by their patron's attempting to undermine her authority and didn't feel indebted to him for just a truck. After finding out that it was a truck with a ridiculously large turret, she was far more tractable. Now liking what the man was saying, her eyes lit up with dollar signs as their benefactor described the ultimate heist.

Unfortunately, once all the items were gathered, her sugar daddy mentioned one niggling detail: The final part of the device they were going to sell was the very source of her superpowers. The deal soured, forcing the unseen voice to reveal that he was their getaway car. Slo-Mo was a quick thinker, realizing she could blast him with her timepiece. Unfortunately, the Decepticon was a quicker thinker, using first a handy-dandy forcefield, and subsequently an even handier, dandier tractor beam to steal the timepiece. Slo-Mo was out of luck. Gathering her similarly depowered cartel members, she teamed up with the little girl with the pigtails to haul the yellow Autobot to Sumdac Tower. It was all just a ploy to get her timepiece back, though, and she double-crossed the white hats as soon as she was able. Sadly, she was unable to recognize the effects of her own timepiece on the getaway car, and thus was hauled away by the black and white, SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy
He doesn't want to fight. He bruises easily! He has a doctor's appointment! Do you have any idea just how dangerous fighting is?! Sure, he's as fast, as strong and as well armed as any other Starscream clone, but do you realise how many different micro-organisms can get in through one crack in his exo-structure? Skywarp was the second cowardly clone, created after the chicken-hearted Clone #3370318 was destroyed.
Surprisingly, at the start of the battle Skywarp charged in without a look of terror on his face and even took a shot at Megatron. He stopped shooting when Megatron started to deflect the laser with his terrifying swords. When Bumblebee started shooting at him, he mostly cowered and pleaded. Blurr got a pair of stasis cuffs on him, which absolutely terrified him, as he claimed that he had an irrational fear of stasis lock. But then both of them and Thundercracker were accidentally stuck in Mixmasters's glue-like cement and hurled into the space bridge, their destination unknown. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

Skywarp's personal hell only continued on the other side of the space bridge. He was trapped in glue on some desolate planetoid with Blurr and Thundercracker, and the substance was seeping into his circuitry! Even worse, Blurr's idea to get out of the glue was to release short wave sonic pulses, which Thundercracker did, causing an explosion. He could have been hurt! Fortunately, he wasn't. Needless to say, Skywarp did not join Thundercracker in pursuing the Autobot. He might have shot back! TransWarped
The Decepticons aboard the Elite Guard ship decide to take down the Autobots that turned them in.

Synopsis
On Earth, Professor Sumdac and Bulkhead have completed a space bridge terminal in record time, for which Optimus congratulates them. However, the transwarp field sequencers still have to be recalibrated, and Sumdac and Bulkhead argue over whose fault that is. Sari insists she could have helped get it right, but both builders politely rebuff her as insufficiently knowledgeable. As they continue arguing about getting the resequencing done, she takes matters into her own hands—almost literally. Using her new abilities, she fixes the terminal's calibrations and gets it to activate, to the surprise of the others.

Meanwhile, out in space, Sentinel Prime fruitlessly attempts to interrogate his Decepticon prisoners for info on the military cells that have been attacking space bridge outposts. He returns to the bridge after Jazz tells him there's an incoming message from Cybertron. Perceptor, Alpha Trion and Cliffjumper indicate that the Autobot High Council has decided to make public the news of the assault on Ultra Magnus. Sentinel tries to pull rank on them, since he's now technically the pro tempore Magnus, and advises them to keep it quiet, but Alpha Trion makes it clear that they don't quite recognize his authority. Frustrated, Sentinel tries to pull rank on Jazz instead, commanding him to take the ship at full thrust through an energy cloud, despite any risks, as that heading will be the shortest route to Cybertron. Jazz complies despite objections, and of course, his worries prove justified: The energy strikes and flows through the ship, re-energizing Swindle and bringing him out of time-stasis. Swindle soon frees and re-arms the other Decepticons, even if they don't have payment up front for it, as they work for Megatron, his best customer. With the alarms muted by Swindle's Sonic Jammer 3000, the Decepticons strike at the ship's bridge just after the ship emerges from the energy cloud. Swindle quickly takes out Jetfire and Jetstorm with a demo of the SJ3K's other function, a stasis suspension ray. Sentinel and Jazz put up a fight, but to little avail, and finally, Sentinel sends a brief, encrypted call for help to his old buddy, Optimus Prime (as he's too embarrassed to call Cybertron). Shortly afterward, Lugnut strikes him down, but Swindle convinces the massive Decepticon to spare their prisoners' lives: Not only could selling off their Elite Guard parts earn a fortune, but they could be a bargaining chip in finding Megatron.

On Earth, Optimus receives Sentinel's message, which decrypts to "Broken Lance", a coded call for help that Sentinel used with him back in their academy days. Bulkhead notes the space bridge terminal detects an unusual transwarp field aboard the Elite Guard's ship. With Sari's help, the terminal locks onto the field, providing stable coordinates for an arrival point. The space bridge is activated, and Optimus steps through... only to emerge from Swindle's chest, having arrived via the private storage dimension he uses for holding all his stock.

Rather than attack against overwhelming odds and attempt to free Sentinel and the others, Optimus takes off down the ship's corridors to better his situation. Most of the Decepticons give pursuit, with Lugnut ordering Swindle to watch the prisoners in the meantime. Taking an elevator to the ship's energon storage chamber, Optimus perforates a group of energon cubes with his axe, destabilizing them just enough. He then puts them in the elevator car and slices its cables, so it explodes near the bottom just as the Decepticons pry open the doors. Slightly charred from the backblast, Optimus enters one of the service ducts and works his way back to the brig area, grumbling as he does.

Meanwhile, Swindle's greed is still holding sway, and the arms dealer leaves his prisoners unguarded so he can raid the ship's stores. Prime arrives almost immediately afterward and frees his fellow Autobots, earning no gratitude from the power-tripping Sentinel. The Decepticons then return, so Optimus tells Jazz to rewire the decontamination unit on the bridge into a freezing chamber to trap them, his Autobot emblem blinking all the while. Optimus severs a steam duct, giving Jazz cover to escape, but then Lugnut punches a hole in the hull, sending everyone else in the brig out into space.

The Jet Twins prove far more capable in space combat than anticipated, giving the Decepticons a fair amount of trouble. Noting their predicament through a porthole in the storage depot, Swindle metaphorically shrugs and goes back to looting. Meanwhile, despite Sentinel's continued objections and struggling, Optimus uses him as a living spiked slingshot against Lugnut. Sentinel insists he be obeyed as leader, but this only prompts Blitzwing to freeze him and hold him hostage. Sentinel demands they don't surrender, but Optimus convinces the Jet Twins to follow his lead instead, and they capitulate.

On the bridge, Blitzwing, Sunstorm, and Ramjet put Sentinel, Optimus and the Jet Twins in the decontamination unit with Jazz. Blitzwing sneers that Optimus shouldn't have blabbed his plan where all could hear it, as now the Autobots will suffer freezing instead. However, when he activates the chamber, the freezing tubes reverse direction, icing all the Decepticons on the bridge and leaving the Autobots safe. Optimus explains to a surprised Sentinel that back in the brig, he'd used his blinking emblem to send a different message to Jazz in Cybertronian optical code. They all pause as they hear a roar of engines, courtesy of a loot-filled Swindle taking off in one of the ship's shuttles. As the Decepticons are imprisoned again, Sentinel offers Optimus the Elite Guard spot that will be opening when Sentinel becomes Magnus, but Prime demurs, as he's still got plenty to do on Earth.

At Sumdac Tower, Bulkhead frets as Swindle's transwarp signal moves too far away to warp Optimus back. Sari offers to help fix it, but her father points out it won't be necessary, as the Elite Guard ship has come to them. Optimus steps off the ship, and he and Sentinel trade salutes before it departs.

On Cybertron, Sentinel has a victory parade, displaying his prisoners to a cheering crowd and vowing to hunt down and offline Shockwave and any other Decepticon if they accept him as the new Magnus. Perceptor and Alpha Trion exchange dubious glances, but say nothing.

Out in space, Omega Supreme warps into place near a drifting Lugnut, who abruptly finds himself plastered on the front window—right in front of Megatron.
"Megatron cannot be stopped. Megatron is EVERYWHERE!"<br>
"You don't know how true that is."
:—Lugnut and Sentinel Prime

Isaac Sumdac: Fine, I'll just recalibrate the field-sequencers myself!<br>
Bulkhead: Not before I do the calculations myself!<br>
Isaac Sumdac: You think I can not isolate a transwarp frequency barrier?!<br>
Bulkhead: I'm just saying you don't have the same experience as me.<br>
Isaac Sumdac: I have done it before!<br>
Bulkhead: Yeah, for Megatron!<br>
Isaac Sumdac: That was uncalled for!
:m- What happened to the good ol' days where Bulkhead would just break stuff?
<br>
Sentinel Prime: All due respect, Alpha Trion, the Council should concern itself with more important matters, like beefing up security for the Decepticon prisoners that... ahem... I captured.<br>
Swindle: Never could get the hang of cloning. (Pulls out Conehead and Seeker helmets) Why don't you try these on for size, just so I can tell you bots apart?<br>

Icy Blitwing: Ve have lost contact vith Lugnut. But, as you can see, your friend has failed in his attempt to freeze us. Perhaps you should not shout your plans where every audio receptor can hear.<br>
Hothead Blitzwing: Now you puny Autobots vill be frozen in your own trap!<br>
:m- Hey, at least he's not a couch.

Notes
Animation or technical errors
* When Sentinel calls for Jetfire and Jetstorm, the prisoners do not have their facemasks.

* Character heights vary wildly throughout the episode, mostly with the non-Swindle Decepticons being various levels of undersized. The kneeling Decepticons still tower over Swindle as he first talks to them (which seems correct, as Swindle is small), but do not appear to gain any height on him once they're upright. The final scene in particular, Blitzwing and the two clones are downright tiny, looking to be about as big as the average Autobot.

* In the crowd scenes towards the end of this episode, characters change positions relative to each other every time the camera angle switches. Beachcomber, in particular, appears in literally four different places at once.

* When Lugnut crashes against Omega Supreme at the end of the episode, his Deception insignia is missing.

Continuity errors
* Safeguard is able to create a tornado in outer space?

Transformers references
* Swindle claims to have had business dealings on Quintessa, suggests they could make enough from Elite Guard parts to "retire to a beach island on Nebulos", and swears by "the fifth moon of Pz-Zazz".

* His reference to a "personal storage dimension" from which accessories can be pulled at a moments' notice hearkens back to the concept of subspace.

* To help tell the Starscream clones apart, Swindle gives the Ramjet a conehead accessory and Sunstorm a boxy helmet resembling those of the Generation 1 Seekers. The new cone-head is topped with a drill. Cool.

* Sentinel's adoring public consists of a seriously crazy amount of cameos, a great many of which have not been seen before this episode. While many of them could be identified right away, it would take a further few episodes, and some more crowd scenes in "This Is Why I Hate Machines" and "Endgame, Part II", before some of the more obscure characters could all be named and shamed. The crowd includes Tap-Out, Carerra, Searchlight, Flareup, Furao, Freeway, Beachcomber, Red Alert, Huffer, Powerglide, Seaspray, Rattletrap, Hot Shot, Rosanna, Autotrooper (based on Autrooper), Mainframe, Warpath, Cosmos and Tracks. The widescreen-to-fullscreen crop also manages to cut off an unnamed orange female robot (her forearm can be seen for a split-second poking into shot over Rosanna's head) who would reappear in "Endgame, Part II", an unknown, tall blue-and-white robot (behind the second Beachcomber, above Hot Shot) and an equally-mysterious skinny red-and-orange robot (behind Hot Shot). Recolored generic robots in the crowd include a Tracks-colored Mainframe, a red-white-and-blue Warpath, and a Brawn-colored Cosmos, sans nacelles.

* Sentinel and the Autobot Council are carried upon Grandus. Behind them, the Decepticon prisoners are carried by a Grandus lookalike with yellow detailing; Derrick Wyatt stated that this was supposed to represent Grandus's Brave redeco, Dag Base.

* The "Lance" in "Broken Lance" refers to Sentinel's weapon of choice.

Real-world references
* The title is a play on Con Air, a Nicolas Cage movie where prisoners being transported by plane get free and do bad things.

* Sentinel's phrase "Broken Lance" is similar to the U.S. military term "Broken Arrow", which is used to describe a cock-up involving nuclear weapons. In this context, it is more likely to be a reference to the 1996 action film of the same name, in which John Travolta hijacks a stealth bomber (in order to sell the nuclear missiles on board).

* Speaking of action movies, Optimus crawling through an air shaft, while sarcastically complaining about how much fun he's having, is very similar to a famous sequence from Die Hard. The exploding elevator trick also appears in the film.

* When Optimus drops out of the air shaft suspended by a wire harness, it's similar to a famous sequence from the Tom Cruise version of Mission Impossible.

* Optimus claiming to have a small chamber that can trap his foes, only for them to doublecross him and force him inside it, only for him to triplecross them when the chamber is the only place safe from the real trap, is similar to a famous sequence from Superman II.

* Sari's fingers extending and separating when she types are a reference to Ghost in the Shell.

* When Sentinel uses his remote to unlock and re-lock Lugnut's mouth clamps, it makes the same noise as a car alarm remote.

* When Swindle first hears Megatron's name, his facial expression changes with the sound of a cash register.

* Swindle's personal storage dimension features old Hanna-Barbera stock sound effects, typically used to denote magic spells.

* Swindle's "Don't leave Cybertron without it!" is a variation of the American Express credit card slogan "Don't leave home without it." He immediately follows that up with "But wait, there's more!", one of TV huckster Ron Popeil's most famous catchphrases.

Trivia
*Sentinel Prime went through the space disturbance to gain some time, but in the end, agreed to go all the way back to Earth to drop off Optimus Prime. So the whole thing ended up being a rather pointless act. Lesson learned, Sentinel?
*Sentinel seems to have decided to keep his Earth alt-mode this time.

*At the end of "SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy", Captain Fanzone claimed that Swindle would be stripped down for parts. But other than his weapons (which would have been confiscated by the Elite Guard if the Detroit Police hadn't already taken them), nothing obvious seems to be missing from his person. Maybe Fanzone was just trying to freak him out?

*When he's giving the helmets to Sunstorm and Ramjet, Swindle mentions in a very casual manner that he "never could get the hang of cloning." Thinking back, no one was really shocked to see the army of clones that Starscream created. So maybe, cloning is something fairly common among Decepticons, or at least was at some point.

*This episode marks the last appearance of Blitzwing, Sunstorm, Ramjet, and Swindle. They were some of the most loved Decepticons as well!
During a major battle, Wheeljack had become trapped under some rubble in the middle of an inferno. Hot Shot could not free his friend, and left, promising to return with help.

However, Hot Shot's unit commander and his subordinate refused to help Wheeljack, saying that the flames were too hot to enter. Hot Shot objected and attempted to run back in, only to be obstructed by his fellow soldier and struck down by his officer. The officer cited that they could not risk the unit to save only one 'bot.

Hot Shot eventually got up, and despite the warnings of a court-martial, raced back into the flames hoping to save his friend. Past, Part 1
Later, the Autobot officer showed up in the modern era with his subordinate, only to be gunned down by Decepticons. If only all jerks got what they deserve.
A hyperactive wisecracker, Bumblebee is quite convinced he's the fastest—and coolest—thing on four wheels. He has a tendency to bite off more than he can chew, so it's a good thing he pals around with the massive Bulkhead. He does not take well to being called short, and his over-eager ways can get on Ratchet's nerves all too easily. Still, Bumblebee is good people, as evidenced by his fast friendship with Sari Sumdac.

Early in his career, Bumblebee dreamed of becoming a member of the Elite Guard. He joined the Autobot boot camp, but things didn't exactly go as planned—his drill sergeant was a jerk, most of his classmates bullied him and the only bot willing to befriend him was a complete mudflap. His luck seemed to change, however, when he accidentally overheard someone communicating with a Decepticon. He then saw fellow classmate Wasp walk out, which aroused his suspicions. After taking the advice of Longarm, Bumblebee attempted to weed out the spy, but Sentinel Minor got in the way twice. Needless to say, this resulted in many transform-ups for his squadron. After Wasp and Ironhide tore off his legs and put him in a closet, he was saved by Longarm, who encouraged him not to give up. Later that day, the group was put through their first training exercise—combat in a simulated battlezone. When somebody switched the turret settings to fire actual lasers, it was Bulkhead who saved him. However, they accidentally knocked over a building in the process, flattening Sentinel.

When Sentinel was conducting a surprise locker inspection, Sentinel discovered a Decepticon communicator in Wasp's trunk, ousting him as a traitor. Sentinel was prepared to put Bumblebee on an Elite Guard fast track program. Sadly, his new friendship with Bulkhead forced him to throw it all away in order to prevent his new buddy being kicked out, and they both wound up working on space bridges. Autoboot Camp

The two friends were assigned to Optimus Prime's space bridge repair vessel. During one mission, Bumblebee and Bulkhead stumbled across Prowl, a ninja-bot meditating near an isolated space bridge. Due to an energon cube accident on Ratchet's part, Prowl's spaceship was destroyed, and he was forced to join their crew. Endgame, Part I After this, Bumblebee's work continued as usual until the crew discovered the AllSpark itself on another asteroid, which unfortunately attracted the attention of Megatron. Even though he expressed significant fear of the Decepticon leader, he still managed to crack wise at his appearance once they were face-to-face. The humor vanished when Megs pulled out his sword. After Megatron was thrown off the ship, Bumblebee entered stasis with the rest of the crew just before the crew's ship crash-landed on Earth.

Fifty years later, Teletran-1 awoke the crew to alert them to the intrusion of a nanite-powered bug-slug. Sending out a probe to find local disguises, the probe scanned Captain Fanzone's car amongst other things. Bumblebee was given the car for his new bodyform. Lucky him.

Upon noticing "a little creature" struggling with her "owner", 'Bee and Mr. Bulk showed their unfamiliarity with organic life by assuming the owner/pet relationship was reversed. Their speculation was interrupted by the attacks of the giant, nanite-fueled bug monster, and Bumblebee intervened to get Sari out of the way. Later in the battle, Bumblebee was called on to deliver the override command to the beast's nanites, as he was the fastest and most nimble of the crew.

His defeat of the monster seriously impressed Sari, who decided to befriend him. Sari's definition of befriending included cajoling him into sneaking her aboard the Autobots' ship. Of course, Sari wouldn't stay still as Bumblebee asked, compelling him to jettison her into a ventilation shaft. After introducing her to the group, Sari and 'Bee became fast friends. When Starscream attacked Detroit, Bumblebee took a shot intended for Sari, allowing Screamer to capture Bumblebee, Isaac Sumdac, Captain Fanzone, and the Mayor. Sari, with Prowl's help, managed to rescue them. Transform and Roll Out!

The Autobots quickly became famous for their heroic deeds in Detroit, much to Bumblebee's delight. Prowl, on the other hand, was less enthusiastic about all the attention, however, and he and Bumblebee quickly had a clash of opinions on the values of peace and quiet versus the values of fun. When the Autobots' factory base was turned against them, however, Bumblebee was forced to listen to Prowl's "stillness and strike" attitude to get past the motion sensors preventing him from shutting the factory down. In the aftermath, he had a newfound respect for Prowl as the two played a relaxed game of Twister™. Home Is Where the Spark Is

At one point, Bumblebee took part in a match against Cyrus "Colossus" Rhodes, hosted by Prometheus Black to show off the effectiveness of biotechnology. Unfortunately, Cyrus hulked up, then proceeded to beat the slag out of Bumblebee. The other Autobots were forced to rescue him, using it as a chance to riff on his small stature. However, only Bumblebee was able to get into Sumdac Tower when Meltdown went to kill Isaac Sumdac. Bumblebee managed to get him to the ground floor, but Meltdown arrived. Bulkhead tried to stop him, but Meltdown threw a glob of acid at Bulkhead, which Bumblebee took instead (basically, 'Bee is a <s>human</s> robot shield). Bulkhead offered his apologies over his comments, saying he was only having a little fun—which sent Bumblebee into declaring his good moves and speed. He's going to be pretty impossible to live with for a while. Total Meltdown

The troubles in Detroit were far from over, as the Autobots soon found themselves facing three rampaging robotic dinosaurs. During the battle, Bumblebee combined his stingers' electrical with Ratchet's magnets to create an electromagnetic pulse that would hopefully shut the prehistoric menaces down. Sari decided to pitch in by boosting Bumblebee's stingers with her Key, which proved enough to defeat the "Dinobots"... but also provided them with sparks. Blast from the Past He later bought a neat car horn and tried to chase down a mysterious muscle car with little success. The car turned out to be the bounty hunter Lockdown, who kidnapped Optimus Prime and made short work of Bumblebee as well, threatening to take his stingers. In the end, Lockdown was defeated by Ratchet and Prime was saved. The Thrill of the Hunt

After Bumblebee showed a lack of ability (or inclination) to be subtle on Earth, Prime had Prowl try to teach Bumblebee how to blend in. This ruined some plans with Sari, as she wanted to attach some turbo-boosters to him to make him go even faster. During the exercise, they encountered Nanosec, a crook that had gained Professor Sumdac's new speed suit via unknown patrons. Unable to keep up with Nanosec, Bumblebee was convinced by Sari attach the turbo-boosters against Prime's orders. Unfortunately, he couldn't control them in vehicle mode, allowing Nanosec to escape from the Autobots twice. Worse, he was carrying enough Destronium to destroy all of Detroit. Overhearing Bulkhead and Prowl's comments on his change of appearance, Bumblebee realized that the suit was causing him to age the more he used it, so he purposefully ran him into old age (cold, Bee). With the Destronium about to go critical, Bumblebee, with help from Prowl and Bulkhead, managed to use his turbo-boosters to head into the outer atmosphere and get the Destronium away from the city before detonating. The whole experience seems have given Bumblebee a bit more respect for subtlety. Nanosec (episode)

October soon came around, and Sari decided to teach the Autobots about Halloween. Bumblebee dressed up as "Count Dracubot", but his trick-and-treating session went sour when he and Bulkhead were attacked by the spider-bot Blackarachnia and knocked unconscious. They recovered in time to save Sari from falling off a skyscraper, although Bumblebee blew out his tires in the process. Along Came a Spider After participating in Sari's eighth birthday party, Bumblebee decided that he also wanted one of those cool Soundwave toys. He was less enthusiastic after Soundwave took control of all automatons in Detroit and faked Bumblebee's voice in order to confuse the Autobots. Sound and Fury While Soundwave was eventually defeated, the Decepticon attacks were far from over—Blitzwing and Lugnut soon arrived on Earth in their search for Megatron. Bumblebee and the others were knocked unconscious by Lugnut's mighty punch in their first battle, but the odds were in the Autobots' favour when they later fought in the muddy waters of Lake Erie. Bumblebee got to electrocute Blitzwing a bit before both Decepticons were blasted to pieces by Teletran-1's main cannon. Lost and Found (episode)

When Sari was later kidnapped by a pterosaur, Bumblebee participated in the police investigation. Survival of the Fittest Bulkhead later got into the fine arts, so Bumblebee helped out by modeling for him until his friend got his body hijacked by the human villain known as the Headmaster. As the other Autobots investigated, Bumblebee kept Bulkhead's head company and helped him create art pieces for his upcoming gallery (all while relentlessly cracking jokes about the situation, naturally). The Headmaster soon threatened to destroy Detroit using Bulkhead's body, so the Autobots approached him by pretending to be rescue vehicles, with Bumblebee being driven by Captain Fanzone. During the battle against the Headmaster, he got to play both bowling and football with Bulkhead's head before it was returned to its body. Headmaster (episode)

Some time during that winter, Bumblebee and Sari were playing video games and listening to music while ignoring Prowl's lectures on how spending so much time on "electronic devices" was unnecessary. All three of them were then sent out to investigate a Cybertronic energy signal in the woods; a prospect which filled Bumblebee with dread as nature was just so incredibly boring compared to his TV, games and music back home. He came along on what Sari described as a "camping trip" anyway, although he brought plenty of electronic devices with him. Prowl was not impressed, and even less so when Bumblebee decided to use his holographic projector as a TV screen. The lack of electricity proved to be the least of Bumblebee's problems, however, as the group was attacked by a space barnacle monster shortly after nightfall. After a drawn-out fight with the creature, Bumblebee eventually knocked it off a cliff with his stingers, only to find that Prowl had been infected by the barnacles himself. While Sari had the bright idea of trapping the crazed Prowl in a mine, Bumblebee ended up trapping both of them in it as well, and got himself infected. Ultimately, Sari saved the day by using hot water to remove the barnacles, and in the aftermath Bumblebee voiced his opinion that nature should just be paved over as soon as possible. Nature Calls

When Decepticon activity was detected in high levels, Bulkhead spilled the beans on what he and Prowl had done with the Dinobots, and Optimus Prime pretty much lost it. Ranting that all he had was a group of insubordinate malfunctions, he told Ratchet to take Sari's AllSpark-infused key from her, saying it wasn't safe in her hands. As she ran off crying, Bumblebee defended her, and Prime pointed out that Bumblebee wasn't a good character witness. Bumblebee mouthed off that their situation meant that Prime wasn't fit to command, and then went looking for Sari. Heading to Sumdac Tower, Bumblebee spotted Starscream, and disobeyed Prime's order to hold off. Heading up the elevator (which could not only fit him, but also carry his weight), Bumblebee charged, firing his stingers at Starscream. All it really did was interrupt his speech, which made Starscream seriously freak out. However, a crane pulled Starscream, who was holding Bumblebee, up to the roof, where the two fought it out...right until Megatron burst through the roof of the tower. Megatron Rising - Part 1

After Megatron's restoration, Starscream absentmindedly beat on Bumblebee for a while, then threw him aside when Megatron called the Decepticons to him. Once he'd been repaired with remaining key energy in Professor Sumdac's lab, Bumblebee called Prime on his previous statements, and Optimus apologized, saying he'd been out of line. When Ratchet brought the Autobots' ship to them, the Autobots and Sumdacs boarded the vessel in an attempt to lead Megatron and the Decepticons off-planet, but were shot down and crashed on Dinobot Island. As the Autobots rallied to defend the AllSpark, Bumblebee, Ratchet, and Prowl took on Blitzwing. Ratchet and Bumblebee teamed up again to create an electromagnetic pulse, causing him to crash. After shelling them in tank mode, Blitzwing again took to the air for some strafing runs. Prowl noticed a connection between Blitzwing's alternate modes and personalities, so they had Bumblebee use his greatest strength, his obnoxious personality, to cause Angry Blitzwing to emerge. Taunting the triple changer, Bumblebee got him to transform accidentally into tank mode and crash into the lake. Megatron Rising - Part 2

Following the defeat of Megatron and the disappearance of Professor Sumdac, Bumblebee helped Sari run Sumdac Systems until the arrival of the Cybertron Elite Guard. Among their numbers was Sentinel Prime, Bumblebee and Bulkhead's old sergeant from boot camp, but thankfully he didn't seem to remember them. 'Bee and the rest of the crew were subsequently contained within the Elite Guard flagship while the Sentinel and Ultra Magnus went with Optimus Prime to investigate the supposed defeat of Megatron and dispersion of the AllSpark, but soon had to leave to deal with an out-of-control police drone factory. The Elite Guard Shortly afterwards, Bumblebee greeted Sari when she was thrown out of Sumdac Tower by Porter C. Powell and forced to live with the Autobots. He and Bulkhead tried to cheer her up by saying that living together would be like a non-stop party, making her food and teaching her about "stuff and how it works", but were met with limited success. The Return of the Headmaster

Bumblebee and Sari later helped stop a runaway train powered by an AllSpark fragment. When Starscream stopped by again, 'Bee and Ratchet again combined their powers to attack him with an electromagnetic pulse, but the AllSpark-powered Decepticon shrugged it off like it was nothing. Mission Accomplished After noticing truly how bad Ratchet's people skills were, Optimus Prime assigned Bumblebee and Sari to help him improve on them, something neither party was very enthusiastic about. During their training, the three encountered the newly created Transformer Wreck-Gar, who proceeded to throw beef and motorcycles at Bumblebee. The Autobots chased Wreck-Gar across the city to retrieve the experimental nanobots he had in his backpack, but Bumblebee was not present during Ratchet's final confrontation with the confused 'bot. Garbage In, Garbage Out

Bumblebee became involved in the illegal street races organised by the criminal Master Disaster. Believing himself to be the fastest things on wheels, Bumblebee was unsurprisingly shocked after getting thrashed in a race by a Mysterious Blue Race Car. Following this, AllSpark traces, and the appearance of Blitzwing at the race track, Bumblebee became determined to get to the bottom of the mystery (although deep down he just wanted another chance to beat the Unknown Racer.) He made a deal with Master Disaster to appear in his races. Enlisting the help of Sari, Bumblebee returned to the track, and, to cut a long story short, ending up being pursued by the maniacal Blitzwing. After nearly being frozen one minute and melted to slag the next, Bumblebee was eventually rescued by the Mysterious Racer driving into Blitzwing. The excitement wasn't over for Bumblebee yet, as when returning to Master Disaster's trailer for answers, he and his pal Bulkhead (who had angrily followed Bumblebee there for defying him) had to face off against Blitzwing (he was desperate for that AllSpark fragment...), and had to be rescued once again... although this time it was Sari using Master Disaster's controlling device. Velocity

Later, he went on a trip to the Five Banners Roller Coaster Kingdom theme park with Sari. Optimus, fool that he is, believed him when he called it "an important fact-finding mission". A Fistful of Energon

On another occasion, Bumblebee was attempting to clear up the streets of Detroit by catching some of their small time criminals. However, in each case, whenever Bumblebee came close to the capture, he froze up completely, and allowed the baddies to escape. It later became apparent that this was due to the AllSpark-infused timepiece belonging to Slo-Mo. After revealing himself and snatching the timepiece, Swindle froze all of the Autobots and looked set for victory. However, after being lifted to Sumdac Tower by Sari and the members of the SUV and repaired, Bumblebee took on Swindle (even managing to floor him at one point with his stingers.) After getting the timepiece back from Swindle, Bumblebee was double-crossed by the SUV, but fortunately for the Autobot, the rest of his pals were back online by now, and managed to get the criminals arrested. SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy

After learning of Wasp's escape, Bumblebee felt a stirring of his old dreams, and dragged Bulkhead off to trace a signal leaked to them, containing a conversation between Megatron and his spy. As they tracked it down, Bumblebee fell into old habits, and started putting Bulkhead down, just like in the old days. It took a nasty fall to remind him that Bulkhead was the best friend he'd ever have, and he didn't need to spend his time chasing big dreams. Together, the two headed home, never realizing they were just outside of the carbon mines where the Decepticons were hiding.

Later, Bumblebee relayed the information they'd gathered to his old friend, Longarm, now Longarm Prime, head of Cybertron Intel. Autoboot Camp
Due to his inability to stay quiet, Prowl placed a bet on Bumblebee—that he couldn't go 10 cycles without talking. Should he keep to this, a sweet can of axle grease would be his! However, the poor bot just couldn't do it. Prime took 'Bee and Prowl with him to Dinobot Island to investigate Meltdown's prison break, and the plucky yellow bot vowed he would win the axle grease. However, the bet was put on hold after both he and Prowl were off-lined by Blackarachnia's cyber-venom. After the day was saved, Prime used the antidote on the bots, and 'Bee pointed out he'd been quiet for ages! Prowl dryly noted it took 'Bee being comatose to achieve this, but the yellow bot didn't care—he just wanted his grease! Black Friday (episode)

After insulting Bulkhead's latest painting of Sari, Bumblebee realized that he was wrong and actually apologized for his comments. It didn't go over very well, and that was before Megatron showed up with Professor Sumdac. Though Bumblebee suspected that Sumdac was a willing accomplice, Sari refused to hear it. At that moment, the mysterious blue racer appeared. Thinking he was a Decepticon, Bumblebee rolled after the racer, running him off the road. It was only at this point that the racer revealed that he was Blurr, a member of the Elite Guard sent to keep tabs on Decepticons and Prime's crew. Worse, Bumblebee's actions allowed Bulkhead to be kidnapped by Megatron. Once Optimus Prime was informed that the Decepticons were building a space bridge to attack Cybertron, 'Bee went with the Autobots to rescue Bulkhead and destroy the bridge. During a brief skirmish with Lugnut and Blitzwing, Bumblebee admitted that he'd lost his title as "fastest thing on wheels" to Blurr. Unfortunately, when they confronted Megatron himself, the Constructicons managed to incapacitate the pair...just in time for Starscream and his clones to attack. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Managing to escape the Decepticons, the Autobots went for the clones, apparently deciding that they were the greater evil. The battle went poorly for them, as Blurr was lost in the space bridge and Bumblebee was cemented to a wall. When Isaac Sumdac decapitated Starscream and took his body with the Headmaster unit, Bumblebee was convinced that he was working for the Decepticons, though Sumdac revealed that it was to destroy Megatron. That didn't work out too well. After Megatron explained his plan to the captive Autobots, the Decepticon Shockwave revealed that he was Longarm Prime and that Bumblebee had sent an innocent Wasp to the stockade. Fortunately, Omega Supreme arrived, reactivated thanks to Sari and Ratchet, and sacrificed himself to save the Autobots and Sumdacs. With the threat passed, Sumdac revealed that he had been forced to help the Decepticons, and Bumblebee's mistrust of the professor presumably faded away—only to return when Sari saw that the skin of her right arm had torn...revealing robotic circuitry underneath! A Bridge Too Close, Part II

Despite the revelation that one of his best friends was a robot, Bumblebee actually remained focused on the larger picture: namely, Shockwave's presence on Cybertron. Optimus reasoned that since Bulkhead was a genius with regards to space bridges (something Bumblebee said he'd never get used to, revealing his high opinion of his other best friend), so the two headed out to the mine. Bumblebee managed to find a recall beacon generator, which was needed to locate the position in space, and the plasmadynamic thruster, which generated the transwarp field. Unfortunately, the thruster activated before Bumblebee could give it to Bulkhead, sending him across the galaxy. After catching another transwarp wave, he was again transported to another part of the galaxy&mdash;where he was swallowed by a rock alien.

Fortunately, Bulkhead was able to capture Bumblebee's signal, and reel him in. Sadly, it also brought the alien to Detroit. As the Autobots struggled to figure out how to defeat the monster and save Bumblebee, Sari used the Key on herself to upgrade with new weapons and a teenage appearance. Sari quickly trounced the monster, freeing Bumblebee. Unfortunately, Sari didn't remove the key after the upgrade, causing her to overload and lose control of her abilities. Bumblebee made a mad dash to try to remove the key, but Sari's defenses systems registered him as a threat, and Sari horrifically watched as she stabbed Bumblebee through the chest and blasted him across the street. Ratchet immediately went to work, saying that he could repair Bumblebee without the Key. However, the damage was severe, and Bumblebee's spark was fading fast. Even when they got the Key, Ratchet was still hard pressed, as the Key had been burned out upgrading Sari. Fortunately, Ratchet managed to stabilize Bumblebee with his magnets, but Ratchet was forced to deactivate Sari with his EMP generator.

After Ratchet made what repairs he could, the Autobots allowed Professor Sumdac some time alone with Sari. Lamenting on how troubled their day had been, Bumblebee tempted fate by asking how much worse it could get. On cue, the plasmadynamic thruster began to power up, but Bulkhead manged to shut it down. Unfortunately, Omega Supreme soon arrived, under the control of Megatron. Bumblebee was given an illegal stinger upgrade to help against Omega Supreme, but it still did little good. Optimus and Prowl managed to sneak inside and remove Megatron's control while Bumblebee and Bulkhead served as <s>bait</s> a distraction. However, Starscream managed to gain control, and soon moved to conquer Cybertron. Bumblebee came up with the idea to throw the plasmadynamic thruster inside Omega to send the three randomly warping across the galaxy, managing to reach the altitude with his turbo boosters (why Optimus let him keep those is unknown). Later, Sari was awakened, and all was well with the Autobots...except for being out of contact with Cybertron, but still, it's the thought that counts. TransWarped

While Bulkhead and Professor Sumdac began constructing a space bridge, Bumblebee and the other Autobots focused on hunting down the remaining Decepticons on Earth. The first one they found was Lugnut, who was defeated and stasis cuffed after a drawn-out battle. Unfortunately, this left the Autobot force trying to pull the massive Decepticon out of the deep crater he had caused during the fight—a daunting task that they spent the rest of the night working on. Before any real progress could be made, Bumblebee and the others were called away to help Bulkhead, who had been dragged into an oil-stealing scheme by the Constructicons. Upon arriving at the Fossil Fuel oil refinery, Bumblebee fought against Scrapper, but was warned to watch his stingers so he wouldn't set fire to a nearby oil spill. Unfortunately, a collision between Scrapper and Mixmaster led to a spark setting fire to it anyway, so the Autobots were forced to transwarp an entire oil tank (with the Constructicons on it) out to Lake Erie, where it exploded. Three's a Crowd

Some time later, Bumblebee's old friend Wasp arrived on Earth, with a few screws loose and a vendetta against the 'bot who put him away. That night, Bumblebee was on monitor duty as the other Autobots were searching for Wasp, but spent his time playing Ninja Gladiator instead (after all, a TV is a monitor too!), which led to Wasp easily getting the drop on him. Bumblebee tried explaining how Longarm had set the whole thing up back in the day, but the deranged Wasp wouldn't listen, instead knocking Bumblebee out and saying it was his turn to lose everything he'd ever had. When Bumblebee woke up, he found himself equipped with Wasp's helmet, paintjob and voice synthesizer and all his friends staring down at him... including Wasp dressed up as himself. Unable to prove his own identity, Bumblebee was forced to escape from his own friends, only to be chased down by Elite Guard members Jetfire and Jetstorm. Luckily for the small 'bot, Jetstorm's wind blasts were too powerful for him, and he was blown away from danger. A desperate Bumblebee tried painting himself yellow with mustard from a hot dog stand, only to be confronted by Bulkhead and Prowl. Thinking of ideas to prove his innocence, Bumblebee reminded Bulkhead of their misadventures in boot camp—misadventures Wasp could never have known about. While his friends were finally convinced, the newly arrived Jetstorm and Jetfire were not, and a fight broke out until Optimus and Sentinel arrived and sorted it out. Returning to the Autobot base, they confronted Wasp, who had unfortunately spent the meantime researching Bumblebee's past and could easily list many of 'Bee's past adventures like he was there in person. With no way to prove who was the real deal, Bulkhead suggested that they simply play Ninja Gladiator for the title of Bumblebee... after all, the real one would never lose at Ninja Gladiator. The plan worked, as Wasp cracked under the pressure before the match could even begin, grabbing Bumblebee and holding him at stinger-point. With the Autobots unable to attack, Wasp cancelled his and Bumblebee's electronic paint jobs and made a getaway, leaving Bumblebee to be pummelled by a confused Bulkhead. Where Is Thy Sting?

Chasing Wasp across Detroit, the Autobots eventually cornered him, and Bumblebee again tried explaining the "funny story" on how Longarm was the true Decepticon spy who caused Wasp's misfortune. However, Wasp didn't see the funny part of it, and Bumblebee nearly got himself blasted in the face for trying. Before the group could capture Wasp, he was suddenly abducted by Swoop, so Optimus Prime and Bumblebee had to follow him to Dinobot Island. Upon arrival, Prime suggested that Bumblebee stopped making excuses like blaming Longarm and tried apologizing to Wasp instead. Making their way into the tunnels of the island, the two soon found Wasp... mutated into a large, monstrous technorganic form by Blackarachnia. Face to face with the monster, Bumblebee followed Prime's advice and apologized for everything he did and didn't do to Wasp. His old nemesis responded that Wasp forgave him... but he was Waspinator now, and Waspinator would never forgive Bumblebee! However, before Waspinator could destroy Bumblebee once and for all, his new body started going out of control, and he went back to Blackarachnia. After being run down by both the spider and the wasp as the latter chased the former, Bumblebee helped carry the damaged Sentinel Prime out of the tunnels. Predacons Rising

Christmas eventually came around, and between shaking his presents and decorating the tree, Bumblebee didn't notice a Sound Wave toy poisoning the Autobots' oilnog. After having a taste, the 'bots all felt strangely tired and decided to take a stasis nap... only to wake up in human bodies. Bumblebee took it with a pinch of humour as he made fun of Bulkhead for being small, before the "Automen" headed out to see if Professor Sumdac could find out what was going on. However, during a brief break for food at Burger Bot, the city came under attack from a large force of Decepticons. The Autobots chose to fight back despite their small fleshy bodies, but Bumblebee grabbing onto Starscream's leg had no real effect on the marauding Decepticon, and the heroes were quickly forced to run. Eventually arriving at Sumdac Tower, Bumblebee was shocked when Cybertron itself appeared in the sky and blasted part of the tower to smithereens, followed by the arrival of Megatron himself. However, by this stage, Optimus Prime and Prowl had figured out that none of this was actually happening—they were trapped in some kind of simulated reality. Realizing that they could break through the illusion with their imagination, the Autobots fought back and defeated the simulated Decepticons, with the tiny human Bumblebee easily punching out Blitzwing before transforming back into a robot. But before the Autobots could figure out how to escape from the virtual reality, they were subdued by a giant Soundwave—the one who had trapped them to begin with in order to brainwash them into becoming his mind slaves. Human Error, Part I

As Soundwave increased his control over the simulation, Bumblebee and the others were transformed back into humans. Deciding that they had to find Soundwave's interface to the world, they grabbed some vehicles matching their alternate modes, leading to Bumblebee pushing a virtual Captain Fanzone out of his own car. The Autobots took to chasing after a black Soundwave van, only to fall into a trap that let Soundwave brainwash them completely. As Sari and her "Substitute Autobots" came to save the day, Soundwave used the Autobots' bodies to fight back, with Bumblebee and Prowl teaming up against Wreck-Gar. However, controlling five people at once proved too much for Soundwave, and as he lost focus, Bumblebee's mindless body found itself bound up in Christmas lights and defeated. Shortly afterward, Bumblebee's mind was returned to normal when Optimus Prime shattered Soundwave's body. Human Error, Part II

When the Autobots discovered Decepticon signals on the moon, Bumblebee found himself an volunteering (read: ordered) to transwarp there and plant a transmitter. However, the transmitter was inadvertedly broken by Shockwave shortly after arrival, so Bumblebee changed his strategy into infiltrating Omega Supreme. Inside, he found Arcee babbling on and on about school. Deeming it impossible to take her back to Earth, 'Bee chose to activate Arcee's transmitter before leaving, using her to spy on the Decepticons. Endgame, Part I When Megatron used the information inside Arcee to attack Detroit with a trio of "Lugnut Supremes", Bumblebee went back to the moon alongside Bulkhead, Ratchet and Sari to attempt a retrieval of Omega Supreme. They quickly located Arcee again, only to be attacked by Shockwave. While Bumblebee's stingers had no effect on his old platoonmate, he was eventually defeated by Bulkhead's brawns. Shockwave transformed back to his Longarm mode in an attempt to trick his "old pals", but failed and was captured. Bumblebee was aboard Omega Supreme when he battled against the oversized Lugnuts-turned-oversized Starscreams, and following their victory, was told that Prowl had died during the battle. When the Autobots returned to Cybertron, he helped carry his friend's coffin. Endgame, Part II

Toy bios
At some point, Bumblebee began taking stealth lessons from Prowl, presenting him with a new battle tactic: sneaking up from behind instead of racing fender-first into danger. To further that end, Bumblebee apparently painted himself as a police patrol car. Bumblebee (Animated)#ActivPatrol

After "getting up close to members of the AUTOBOT Elite Guard", Bumblebee decided more than ever that he wanted to join their ranks. He had Sari borrow some of her dad's auto-painting robots so that he could truly look the part of an Elite Guard team member. He also began doing combat training with Prowl, and may have gotten his energy stingers enhanced. Bumblebee (Animated)#EliteGuard

{{note|Presumably Bumblebee's "getting up close to members of the AUTOBOT Elite Guard" refers to the events of the episodes The Elite Guard, The Return of the Headmaster and Mission Accomplished. ===Titan Magazines===
In battle with new villain Quake-Maker, Bumblebee got to not only mock the villain but fight alongside the super-cool new Autobot Afterburn. Burnout

The two later went on a mission to Dinobot Island to stop a Rage virus infection, a mission that had Bumblebee nervous. During the mission, Bumblebee screwed up a landing that Afterburn aced, got thrown into a mud puddle by Swoop, was left with an incredibly dirty finish, and generally looked worse than Afterburn and on four separate occasions got put down by him. This made him sad. Ratchet & Grimlock Are DEAD?

When Swoop was in a huff, it was Bumblebee who convinced him to help them against the Wraith-X by appealing to that greatest of emotions, the ego! He didn't have time to gloat though, as he then found Afterburn reporting back to Megatron, who then stormed the base, Transformers Comic issue 23 killed Afterburn, and started a massive battle. Bumblebee was shocked to find Afterburn had only been a sparkless drone infiltrator, but still viewed him as a real Autobot, taking on Megatron himself out of anger for what had happened.

Optimus later consoled Bumblebee that he'd been a hero and that Afterburn hadn't been real anyway. But he'd been real to Bumblebee...Transformers Comic issue 24

But then he got over that and started breaking traffic laws for fun to get pizzas to Sari quickly! This led to Prowl dissing him and claiming Bumblebee wouldn't be so fast if he had to obey some rules, which led to a race between the two at Crazy Coyote Canyon (plus Bulkhead joined in, which gave Bumblebee a good laugh). Autobots doing anything, of course, leads to Decepticon plots, and Bumblebee (who had a Decepticon tracer stuck on his butt) found they'd ambushed Prowl halfway through the race. Locating the tracer, he stuck it on Lugnut's butt and helped Prowl escape to win.

All that excitement had allowed Bulkhead to win the race unopposed though, making him the official fastest thing in Detroit. Bumblebee accepted it amiably enough. Transformers Comic issue 25
: Part of the first wave of Activators, this small version of Bumblebee automatically transforms from vehicle to robot mode via spring-loaded releases when you press his top-mounted police light. Interestingly enough, this toy is probably the closest to "proper" scale in robot mode when compared to the Deluxe Prowl and Ratchet, the Voyager Optimus, and Leader Bulkhead. Like the Deluxe class toy, Bumblebee was intended to be molded with a benign sideways smile on his face, but at this small of scale the effect does not come off as intended, leaving Bumblebee looking rather more like he's grimacing. Furthermore, his insignia is also grimacing; for some reason this toy was given the movie Autobot "angry eyes" insignia, rather than the standard "neutral expression" insignia found on most other Animated Autobots. : Bumblebee transforms from a small yellow hatchback with a single red flasher to a scrappy robot with a smile on his face. He has a fake car roof on his chest (but to be fair, so does his cartoon counterpart.) in robot mode, and the two halves of his stinger weapon, stored in his forearms, can be flipped out and pegged together. In both robot and car mode, his two booster rockets can be attached on his back.

: Due to support struts added inside his forearms to ensure durability, his stingers do not recede all the way back into his arms. The latest releases of the toy fix this problem. There have also been some complaints that the socket in his left arm tends to crack easily, which makes the arm impossible to pose.
The arms hold the legs in place, and need to be pulled out before his legs. His vehicle mode is accurate to the show, and his robot mode is reasonably accurate, although rather on the "bulky" side.
Notes
* Bumblebee's arm-mounted shock stingers are very likely inspired by an early weapon concept from the 2007 movie Bumblebee.

* The character who would become Bumblebee was originally conceived as Hot Shot, but changed to Bumblebee at the insistence of incoming supervising director Matt Youngberg and art director Derrick J. Wyatt. This explains why his character is more like Hot Shot and less like... well, Bumblebee. He also arguably shares personality traits with other, similarly brash "ADHD" characters such as Hot Rod and Cheetor. Cut from the same cloth, at any rate.

* Bumblebee appears to have a fake car roof on his chest in both his toy and on his character model. Not only does Bumblebee transform like his toy in his drawn-out animated transformation sequences, with his legs forming the top of the vehicle and the rest forming the underside, but his "real" windshield is drawn on the back of his legs, just like the toy. Plus the headlights on Bumblebee's feet are upside-down, just like the toy's. However, Bumblebee's vehicle mode stripe doesn't change sides like on the toy. Cheatsy!

* In addition to the above, in "The Thrill of the Hunt," Bumblebee reaches under his fake car roof kibble to get out his air freshener and fuzzy dice. This would mean that he had kept them in his back seat or trunk. Interestingly enough, on the Deluxe toy, you can actually store small items in his chest thanks to his opening 'trunk'.

* He likes to swear a lot. Slag yeah!

* He apparently got his name for being a bumbler in Autobot boot camp. Autoboot Camp

* On the Transformers Animated Season One DVD set, the "Season Two Sneak Peek" special feature shows Bumblebee's character model colored in the Elite Guard Bumblebee toy's deco. Bumblebee did not actually use that color scheme in Season 2, so its inclusion in a Season Two gallery is puzzling at best...

* With the airing of the episodes "Human Error" Parts 1 and 2, an interesting and probably unintentional question has been brought up. Bumblebee's human form is obviously much younger than the others, even Prowl and Bulkhead, putting him somewhere around pre-teen to early teen years. Everything else about the humans reflect their bot conterparts spot on, down to a scar on Ratchet's face to represent his broken chevron. So, seeing as human Bee is obviously so young, does that make him a child soldier?

* Bumblebee's original body-type is apparently quite common on Cybertron—he shares it with Cliffjumper, Wasp, Tap-Out, Freeway, Searchlight, Hubcap, Sedan, Carerra, Furao, Bumper and Glyph.

Synopsis
The Autobots once again must aid in the restoration of the increasingly disaster-prone city of Detroit. There is an odd amount of balking, considering they're a space bridge repair crew, but Optimus Prime reminds them that a fair amount of the destruction is indeed their fault. These musings are cut short by Bumblebee spotting the other party to Detroit's deterioration, the Decepticons. Blitzwing and Lugnut are scurrying by in a most undignified manner, carrying construction supplies for Megatron. A combined effort by Bumblebee and Ratchet manages to knock the two Decepticons skidplate-over-processing unit, but they still manage to flee with a much smaller portion of the supplies. The Autobots are prevented from giving chase by the cracking of a bridge support, which they then repair. At the end of the day, the Autobots are ready to head home. Bulkhead tells Optimus Prime he'll catch up, to mask the fact that he's accidentally adhered his feet to the ground with cement.

Meanwhile, across town, two construction vehicles are seen with AllSpark fragments embedded in them. The two fragments activate, and the machines gain sentience. After a brief debate over naming, they discover their new ability to turn into giant robots. This does not faze them in the slightest, and soon they chase off after a highly attractive sports car.

Thanks to the use of expired fixative, Bulkhead's attempts at mixing more cement prove explosive, knocking him out and nearly getting him skewered by iron girders. Thankfully, the newly minted Constructobots spot this and save his skidplate. They then help the lumbering Autobot to do the job right (making sure he doesn't leave the fixative lying around, either) and then take him off to a tanker for an oil break. Though Bulkhead is quite pleased with the oil he is served, he soon voices misgivings as to whether they ought to be doing this. Asked by the Constructobots whether he's going to act like a little yellow compact, he remembers his friends back at the base and invites his new acquaintances back to meet them.

At the base, the Autobots are not impressed with the crass pair. Loudly carousing to the point that even Ratchet thinks they're a bit rude, they soon wake up Sari. Wondering what all the commotion is, the poor girl gets her pigtails amputated by a game of smashed-oil-barrel frisbee. This is the last straw for Optimus Prime, who kicks the two paisanos out on their keisters.

The next day, Blitzwing and Lugnut are once again hauling heavy construction materials, this time Laurel and Hardy style up a steep hill. Blitzwing's footing slips, and he is nearly offlined by the heavy trailer that sends him careening towards a wall. Bracing for an impact that never comes, he is startled to find Mixmaster and Scrapper have saved him. Immediately, he asks them who and what they are. At first, the jovial pair answer that they are Autobots, but as this is met with some static, they quickly amend it to Constructobots. Blitzwing sees an opportunity in the pair's brawn, and as police sirens approach, he convinces them to help haul the load. Lugnut objects, worried about Megatron's reaction. Blitzwing reassures him, sotto voce, that they will offline the two goombahs immediately after the work is done. Lugnut is all for this plan, and once the goods are delivered, he charges up the Punch Of Kill Everything while Blitzwing distracts the pair. However, Megatron arrives and gives Lugnut an awful case of punchus interruptus.

Megatron invites the Constructobots into the Decepticon inner sanctum, which they would find to be quite commodious if they knew the meaning of the word. Once there, they express how cute Megatron's pet is, and the interstellar warlord shows them the schematics he stole from the Autobots' ship for the building of a space bridge. His hunch turns out to be correct when he finds that the Constructobots display an intuitive knack for grasping construction projects, and they tell him that the supplies he's been gathering will be insufficient to the task. Megatron grins as they reveal to him that they know exactly what is needed and where to get it.

The following morning, Bulkhead goes looking for his wayward friends. He finds them, pursued by Sumdac Systems police robots after a daring heist of construction supplies. Stepping in and generally making a mess of the pursuers, he asks Mixmaster and Scrapper what they're up to. After being told that they stole these materials, he becomes irate because he thought they were so helpful before. They tell him they still are, they're just helping other bots. Becoming suspicious, Bulkhead presses them further and finds out they're working for Blitzwing and Lugnut. The large Autobot tries to convince them that the Decepticons are bad news, but is less than effective. The Constructobots think the Decepticons are just regular fellas and that Megatron is a laugh riot. Bulkhead grows still angrier, saying that Megatron is the worst of the bunch and was only tricking them. This finally clicks in their heads, and they drop what they're doing—on Bulkhead—and tear off down the road to take up their grievances with Megatron. Covered in girders, Bulkhead is unable to pursue.

Upon discovering the Constructobots pounding on the steel door of the mine, Megatron is a bit less genial in tolerating their antics. Picking them up by their collars, he slams them against the mountainside and demands to know what they're doing. They explain that they want a piece of him because Bulkhead told them that Decepticons are the scum of the universe and that he'd tricked them. Megatron softens his demeanor and tells a tragic tale of Autobot oppression and the Decepticons being driven from their homeworld by these cruel tyrants. The Constructobots only understand about every third word of what he says, so he submits it would be a little easier to understand over a barrel of oil. Once inside, Mixmaster and Scrapper are quite impressed by the potency of the oil they're offered, which Megatron reveals to be his "special blend". Suitably placated, they listen to his pitch in which he stresses that as Constructobots, they can spend their lives fixing highway bridges, but as Constructicons, they can build space bridges and be the heroes of millions of Cybertronians.

Back at the auto assembly plant, Bulkhead is relaying his latest encounter with the Constructobots to his fellow Autobots. This doesn't go over well, so he attempts to convince Optimus Prime that his friends were actually angry at the Decepticons and that there's nothing to worry about, as afterwards they can lead the Autobots to the Decepticon base. Ratchet, however, worries that they'll do the exact opposite. Right on cue, Scrapper and Mixmaster arrive. Bulkhead is initially hopeful, as they are still his friends. The two bots agree with him, but business is business, and Megatron has better oil. Thus they say that they won't fight anyone, so long as they can pick up the fragments of the AllSpark and be on their way. Optimus Prime objects, and the Constructicons announce that they're sick and tired of the little dipstick and knock him over. A fight ensues, in which the industrial chassis of the Constructicons prove fairly impervious to most of what the Autobots can dish out. Bumblebee is taken hostage and ransomed for the AllSpark fragments. Optimus attempts to stall, but Bulkhead hands them over. As all the Autobots look on in disbelief, he encourages his old friends to have "one for the road." They partake in the offered oil and depart.

The Autobots give chase, berating Bulkhead for trusting them. The large Autobot, however, states simply that the Constructicons aren't going anywhere. His plan is revealed as Mixmaster and Scrapper start to slow down, emitting smoke and having increasing trouble running. Soon, there is an explosion, and the AllSpark fragments' container lands at Bulkhead's feet. He had tainted the oil with the expired chemicals from his earlier botched repair job. Bulkhead confronts his former friends, but the blast has scrambled their memory. Confused and frightened, they haul tail out of there. The not-so-gentle giant is disappointed, but Optimus reminds him that even if they've lost their memories, they still have a choice not to serve Megatron.
Scrapper: I like it.<br>
:—The Constructicons come to life and name themselves. They had an easier time than Wreck-Gar.

Scrapper: So, uh, what do we do now?<br>
Mixmaster: Duh, we, like, build things. Alright?<br>
[Mixmaster transforms to robot mode]<br>
Scrapper: Uh, Mix? You're buildin' things out of yourself.<br>
[Scrapepr does the same]<br>
Mixmaster: Yo, Scrapper! You're doing it too!<br>
Scrapper: Uh, we couldn't do that before, right?.<br>
Mixmaster: What, talk, think, move by ourselves? I don't think so. We couldn't do any of that stuff before.".<br>
Scrapper: Do you think that this is happening for, like, a reason?<br>
Mixmaster: Uh, yeah.<br>
[A red car speeds by.]<br>
Mixmaster: Whoa! Check out the chassis on that one, huh?<br>
Scrapper: And those tight little tailpipes! Yo, baby, over here!<br>
Mixmaster: Yeah, I like it when they play hard to get.<br>
[They transform and speed off.]<br>
:—The Constructicons contemplate their new-found existence but quickly throw it out the window when red cars are concerned.

"Hey, those don't grow back overnight!"
:—Sari loses her pigtails. Of course, they're back by next episode.

Mixmaster: You okay, bro?<br>
Hothead Blitzwing: DO I LOOK OKAY?!<br>
Random Blitzwing: Or do these wing struts make me look fat?<br>
:—Blitzwing focuses on the important stuff.

[Lugnut prepares to use his punch]<br>
Megatron: Wait!<br>
[Lugnut falls back into mine, where his punch backfires]]<br>
Lugnut:...I'm okay.<br>
:—Lugnut's life sucks, sometimes, you know?

Mixmaster: "You tricked us! You Decepticons are the scum o' the universe!"<br>
Megatron: "...Whaaat? Who told you that?"<br>
Scrapper: "Our friend Bulkhead."<br>
Megatron: "And you believed him?"<br>
Mixmaster: "Well, sure, he's our friend."<br>
Megatron: "And did your friend tell you how his Autobot kind have oppressed us? Driven us from our rightful home? Oh, they may come across as complete imbeciles, but Autobots are cunning, ruthless, unforgiving."<br>
Mixmaster: "Okay, like, this is too confusin' for me."<br>
Megatron: "Then why don't I explain everything over a few barrels of oil?"<br>
Mixmaster and Scrapper: [faces light up] "Oil?!"
:—Seduction of the stupid.

"The Autobots' oil tastes like water next to this stuff!"<br>
"It's my private blend."
:—Mixmaster discovers that Megatrons an oil connoisseur.

Bulkhead: But...I thought we were friends.<br>
Mixmaster: We are friends, Bulky, that's why we ain't gonna hurt you, okay? Long as you hand over whatever bits you got of the...th-...what did he call it again?<br>
Scrapper: Uh, SparkAll? AllSpark, AllSpark.<br>
Optimus: Over my offline body!<br>
Mixmaster: Aghh—you know what? I have had enough of this dipstick-in-the-mud!<br>
[Mixmaster shoves Prime back]<br>
Bumblebee: Hey! He's our dipstick!<br>
Ratchet: And nobody pushes him around!<br>
:—The Autobots defend the honor of their Prime...and fail miserably.

Notes
Animation or technical errors
* When Ratchet tells Bumblebee to "vamoose" (around 1:30), Bumblebee has a red Decepticon insignia. Goldbug in disguise?
* When Bulkhead frees his foot from the cement, his jaw appears out of alignment, then realigns itself.
* When Bulkhead is jumping at the idea of Mix and Scrapper meeting the Autobots, Scrapper's left arm clips through his body, then the forearm briefly vanishes before his arm reappears in the correct place.
* As Megatron explains the Autobots' "cunning" to Mixmaster and Scrapper, the white outline around his insignia is not complete (either that or it's part of a shadow).
* After the Constructicons flee, the road Bulkhead smashed up is in perfect condition.

Transformers references
*Megatron corrupting the Constructicons may also be a nod to the Generation 1 series, in which he did the same thing in "The Secret of Omega Supreme". Except, instead of using the Robo-Smasher, this time he gets them robo-smashed...

* The two surveyors on top of the bridge are decked out in blue jeans, white shirts, tan jackets and yellow hard hats and boots, just like a disproportionate amount of humans from the Generation 1 cartoon.

* A construction crane which appears in a few scenes early in the episode is colored in the traditional Constructicon green-and-purple (Maybe a Constructicon in disquise?). Purple and green excavation vehicles were previously seen in "Nature Calls", and yet the Animated Constructicons themselves are yellow and grey, which might be an homage to the Generation 2 Constructicon toys.

*Scrapper and Mixmaster hit on a little red sports car. Sound familiar?

*Blitzwing's complaining about hauling heavy loads recalls another Constructicon member.

*Constructicons cheating an Autobot has happened once before.

Real-world references
* The Constructicons often hit on cars (which could be the equivalent for them to female 'bots...or something), just like real cartoon construction workers with passing women.
* The Constructicons beep as they back up.
* The whole plot seems to be pretty thoroughly cribbed from every after-school special on the dangers of peer pressure ever...except with giant robots, attempted murder, extortion, and a plot to overthrow one interstellar empire and reestablish another.
* While the "working-class" Constructicons drink their oil straight from the can, the "upper-class" Megatron drinks his oil out of "goblets".
* Mixmaster and Scrapper have a very loose resemblance to Luigi (respectively), mostly in build. Their vaguely Italian-American accents are more native New Yorker than the plumbers' immigrant accents, though.

Trivia
* It was revealed at 2008 that much of Scrapper and Mixmaster's dialogue was actually ad-libbed by their respective actors Tom Kenny and Jeff Glen Bennett.
* This episode first aired in Dubai, around two weeks before its English-language broadcast premiere in Canada.

* It seems that in the Animated-verse, yellow eyes represent the neutral position. Good to know there is a Switzerland equivalent on Cybertron.

* The Constructicons first start off as Constructobots, a portmanteau of "construction" and "Autobot", but later Megatron gives them a new name, formed from "construction" and "Decepticon" instead.

* Even assuming the Constructicons don't drink anything off-screen, they still consume what looks like half their weight in oil over the course of the episode. Where does it go?

* On second thought, don't think about it.

* Bumblebee receives a detailed transformation sequence for his stingers...which becomes extremely anticlimactic when his attacks just bounce off Lugnut seconds later. Likewise, Prowl commences his attack against Scrapper with a sequence showing him deploying his throwing stars, but he has better success hand-to-hand, after the stars ricochet harmlessly.

* Assuming oil prices didn't somehow decrease by the twenty-second century, the "snack" the Constructicons took was worth several hundred dollars. Shouldn't the world be out of oil by then, anyway? Then again, Mixmaster mentions "synthetic junk", which implies a way of creating artificial oil may have been invented.
