Evac
:Evac is an Autobot from the 2007 movie franchise in the live-action film continuity family.

Evac is fearless in the face of danger, and is wholly devoted to the protection of sentient life; two qualities that make him ideally suited for search and rescue missions. When he received Optimus Prime's signal summoning all remaining Autobots to Earth, he came immediately to help humanity rebuild in the aftermath of their devastating battle with the Decepticons.

A member of a scientific specialist group, Evac and his team were called to Earth in the hope they could find a way of stopping its AllSpark-caused apocalypse. Transformers Comic issue 16 Most of their time ended up being spent on damage limitation, with Evac helping evacuate humans from devastated areas. Transformers Comic issue 17 He also used his firepower to make a lava-ditch when a volcano threatened to take out Shallowater, Texas. Transformers Comic issue 18

Optimus Prime kept thinking that Evac ran the specialist unit, even though he didn't. Camshaft, who actually did the leader work in the team's appearances, must have been annoyed about this.

In the mission to rescue Mikaela Banes, Evac did command the team (Optimus was watching, better do some work!) and played the part of evacuating Mikaela from the Decepticon HQ. Transformers Comic issue 22

In the final strike, it was Evac in charge again (ah, finally taking responsibility, eh?), this time of rigging Cybertron's Unicron-gifted teleportation engines so that, once the Decepticons were on the planet, it could be warped away to the far reaches of space. Transformers Comic issue 25

In the age before Cybertron's population was divided between the Autobots and Decepticons, Evac was a member of either the science leader Optimus' research division or the security forces assigned to protect them and keep the peace. After a devastating attack by aliens unknown from the Eshems Nebula, Protector Megatron rallied his forces to war, demanding all Cybertronians to arms. Evac was among those in the crowd who listened to Optimus' plea for them not to go down Megatron's path of violence. Defiance issue 2
**Accessories: Raft/blaster

: As part of the "Power" portion of the movie line, Evac is a retool of the Voyager Blackout, transforming into a Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low heavy-lift helicopter in rescue helicopter colors. An aft "cage" compartment can be opened to release a small rescue raft, which becomes a hand-held gun for robot mode. A button on the very end of his tail can be pressed in a geared action to rotate his rotor blades, but this feature really comes into play when the user attaches the Deluxe-class Scorponok figure to the bottom of Evac's helicopter mode via two pegs. A geared shaft linked to the rotor mechanism connects to a geared peg on Scorponok's back. Thus, pressing the button on Evac's tail not only rotates his blades, but also rotates Scorponok's pincers, though this gimmick is actually easier to activate by rotating the geared wheel on Scorponok's undercarriage.

: During transformation, Evac's Automorphing gimmick is activated when the user swings down his legs, which in turn flips the chest section his head is mounted upon up and into position. Another, less impressive Automorph is in his legs—If you pull his knees down, his shin armor pops out a bit. The figure's retooling involved a new head and new hands that can hold standard weapon pegs such as the raft which replaced the Scorponok miniature.

:Evac was later redecoed for in the ToysЯUs-exclusive "Masters of Metallikato" battle pack as Whirl, for the Revenge of the Fallen toyline, and the original Blackout tooling was reused for Grindor.
: From the final —and barely-distributed— wave of Revenge of the Fallen Deluxes, Evac is a redeco of Blazemaster, transforming into a HH-65 Dolphin helicopter in Coast Guard rescue deco. The top propeller can be spun using a gear-driven action by pressing the small button just under it. The tail rotor cannot move. In robot mode, the top rotor can be used as a spinning weapon, or split in half to sit on both arms.

:Evac's color layout appears to have been inspired by Generation 1 Blades, only with orange in place of Blades's traditional red. He even sports "C-72" tampographed on his side; the original Blades's Japanese ID number. Presumably, his color and name were changed because there had already been three red-and-white Blades-themed 'copter redecoes going by that name in the previous year or so.
Notes
* According to the running commentary of the 2007 movie done by Aaron Archer and Jared Wade at 2008, Hasbro's creation of Evac was prompted by the (ultimately unused) idea that there would be at least one Coast Guard helicopter featured in the film. They implied that, had it been used, it would have been the helicopter that attempted to move Sam Witwicky and the All Spark out of Mission City.
*Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - The Game concept designer Ken Christiansen was requested by Hasbro to change the rear stabilizer of the Protectobot Sniper's vehicle mode. His speculation is that Hasbro requested this to make the character model more similar to the Blazemaster toy, for a potential Protectobot Sniper retooling. With the advent of the Revenge of the Fallen Evac toy, it seems his prediction was partially right in that Hasbro redecoed Blazemaster with a Protectobots theme, though not the colour scheme Christiansen had used for the Protectobot Sniper.
