Known for his low voice, he was originally a blues singer before taking up voice acting, rising to prominence in such roles as Kenpachi Zaraki in ''Bleach'', Yūichi Kirisaki in ''Yakitate! Japan'', Sloth in ''Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood'', and of course, Gendo Ikari in ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'', as well as the narrator (and Gaia Memory voices in the latter) of ''Kamen Rider Kuuga'' & ''Kamen Rider Double''. Canada has had a surprisingly large behind-the-scenes role in producing Transformers. It is home of [[Mainframe Entertainment]], who produced the [[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]] and [[Beast Machines (cartoon)|Beast Machines]] television series. It was also home to the now-defunct [[Dreamwave Productions]] whose top-selling 2002 Generation 1 revival comic led directly to the production of the [[Transformers (2007)|2007 movie]]. Several Transformers voice actors and comic artists also call Canada home.

During the tail end of Generation 1, Canada received several toys the U.S. did not, like the [[Turbomasters]]. Teletraan-I, sensing the imminent danger, activates the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]]. The Dinobots respond and start pounding on the Constructicons opening up a lava channel in the process. The battle not going in their favor, the Constructicons pull out one last trick and combine into the super warrior, Devastator.

The returning Autobots see the battle, but are unable to help. Inside the Ark, Teletraan-I is able to show that Megatron cheated, and the Autobots rush outside to help the Dinobots. Devastator drilled deep within the planet, reaching the Zodiac's chamber, and went toe-to-toe with [[Dai Atlas]]. He managed to get the Zodiac first and pass it off to [[King Poseidon]]. Devastator had the upper hand in battle until Dai Atlas opened a vein of hot lava upon the Decepticon. Devastator was washed-away in the molten magma, apparantly killed by it.

He also destroyed the World Trade Center by flying through it. That damn terrorist!
