Thrust led the Decepticons to some short victories, but was quickly dethroned of his rank after his failures began to stack up. Hated by all the other Decepticons, Thrust began to shrink into himself, eventually joining Sideways after he was tricked into stealing the three super weapons. Thrust met his demise when he demanded Unicron attack his former master, Galvatron, only to have Unicron act totally unaware of Thrust's presense. Thrust fell into Unicron's neck on a seemingly basic body movement, and was crushed to death as Galvatron walked away.

Sam Vincent is not Wing Saber's voice actor in Cybertron. NewBrandon and I have done tons of research to try to figure out who he is, exactly. With our knowledge of the voice cast, we believe it to be either Ted Cole or Michael Daingerfield, with us both leaning towards the latter. -Bodycount

Wing Dagger was a mere security guard on Cybertron, but when [[Shockblast (UT)|Shockblast]] killed his peer, [[Padlock (UT)|Padlock]], he got the chance to become something more. Pursuing Shockblast through the sky amongst the Energon towers, the Decepticon struck one with a beam, causing it to crash down upon Wing Dagger and Tidal Wave. Wing Dagger was destroyed, but his spark was taken to Primus. Primus, with the aid of Rad, restored the warrior. Reformatted into Wing Saber, he joined Optimus' team not only to find Energon, but to avenge the death of his friend. Wing Saber, being reformatted and repowered by Primus himself, understood his task of being Optimus Prime's personal servant. Optimus Prime has reminded Wing Saber that he is not his property, and Wing Saber seems to have had issues finding out who he is. Wing Saber joined Omega Prime and the other Autobots in spark form to confront the massive Galvatron-Unicron being at the end of the Energon series. His current status is as a Cybertron character, having undergone a huge shift in personality.

Wing Saber returned during the search for the [[Cyber Planet Keys]], but with a new rebellious, irreverent edge. Having undergone a fallen out in the brief period between Energon and Cybertron involving the life of a stranded astronaut, Wing Saber took off into space and returned after encountering the Omega Frequency wave after the Speed Planet Key was inserted into the Omega Lock on earth. Wing Saber returned and showed signs of a new defiant attitude towards his former allies, but would quickly find himself part of the team again, which would lead to reviving his ability to combine with Optimus Prime to create their Sonic Wing Mode. Wing Saber would continue to aid the Autobots until the end of the series where he'd depart, and eventually encounter the mighty Starscream, who somehow had been revived.

When [[Optimus_Prime_(UT)|Optimus Prime]] received the [[Mini-Con]] distress signal, Hot Shot was one of two soldiers he brought with him to Earth to investigate. He soon scanned the form of an Earth sports car and partnered with the Mini-Con [[Jolt (UT) (Armada)|Jolt]].

When all three Mini-Cons that combine to form the [[Star_Saber_(UT)|Star Saber]] sword were collected, Optimus assigned them to Hot Shot. The Autobot was young, inexperienced, and hotheaded, so the great advantage the Star Saber granted him went straight to his ego. With the sword, he was nearly unbeatable on the battlefield until a Decepticon named [[Scavenger_UT|Scavenger]] taught him the hard way that power without skill was useless against an experienced opponent. Hot Shot's naivete was his downfall. The double-agent [[Sideways_(UT)|Sideways]] tricked Hot Shot out of the sword, and Hot Shot was beaten nearly to death by his frustrated opponents.

Later, Hot Shot was visited by a friend from his past. Years ago, on Cybertron, he and the Autobot [[Wheeljack_(UT)|Wheeljack]] were amidst a firey battlefield blaze. Wheeljack was incapacitated, so Hot Shot left him, promising to get help. However, his Autobot comrades would not let him return to help his friend. Instead, Wheeljack was rescued by [[Megatron_(UT)|Megatron]] and swore vengeance against Hot Shot and the Autobots.

When Optimus Prime sacrificed himself to save Earth, Hot Shot was put in command. Hot Shot declined to take the Matrix of Leadership, which marked the beginning of a very unassertive and indecisive administration. It was also short, as Optimus Prime returned to life after not too long.

The Decepticons managed to take over Cybertron. [[Unicron]], the Chaos Bringer, was looming over their planet, but [[Megatron_(UT)|Galvatron]] (previously Megatron) would not listen to Optimus Prime's pleas to unite their two factions against him. Hot Shot decided to take matters into his own hands and fought his way through the Decepticon base and countless Decepticon warriors to reach Galvatron and reason with him. If it were not for Wheeljack's intervention, he might not have survived. Under the Autobot/Decepticon alliance, Wheeljack's hatred of Hot Shot seemed to soften, and the two learned to trust each other again.

After the destruction of Unicron and the defeat of Galvatron, Optimus Prime felt he had failed as Autobot Leader, and with the end of conflict between the two factions, he exhiled himself to parts unknown. Hot Shot and [[Jetfire_(UT)|Jetfire]] were left in charge of the Transformers.

During Energon, Hot Shot would find himself stationed on earth as the commander of Ocean City while Optimus Prime was away training new soldiers on Cybertron. Although somewhat less headstrong, Hot Shot was still a young soldier with a large mass of responsiblity placed on his shoulders.

Hot Shot often clashed with Kicker and Ironhide, the latter seeing Hot Shot as his idol. Hot Shot was often paired with Inferno as his Powerlink partner, and also Powerlinked with others as the series progressed. It wasn't until the arrival of Hot Shot's former commander and idol, Rodimus, that he would question his own allegiences. Not moved by Rodimus sudden side-change to aiding Unicron's resurrection, Hot Shot threatened to open fire, only to be struck down by Rodimus. After an incident involving Rodimus saving Hot Shot's life, he would regret his quick judgement in shame. The relationship between Hot Shot and Rodimus was eventually restored and they become Powerlink partners.

Throughout the series, Hot Shot would serve as a close soldier to Optimus Prime, surviving many battles on Cybertron and other worlds. Along with several other Autobots, Hot Shot was injured when the reborn Unicron destroyed a fledgling planet in the reformed Q-system. Hot Shot was reformatted into a slick silver body along with his Autobot comrades. He would eventually merge his spark with that of Optimus Supreme and his partners in the final battle with Galvatron. Hot Shot, like the others, was restored safely at the end of the Energon series.

When [[Unicron]]'s destruction resulted in a black hole that threatened the Transformers' home planet of Cybertron, Optimus Prime ordered the planet to retreat into hiding on Earth. Hot Shot took the form of a blue Earth sports car.

This form came in handy when Optimus reassigned Hot Shot and [[Red_Alert_(UT)|Red Alert]] to search for [[Velocitron]]'s [[Cyber Planet Key]]. He quickly developed a competitive bond with [[Override_(UT) (Autobot)|Override]], the leader of Velocitron. Against Red Alert's warnings, Hot Shot joined the Great Race. Hot Shot pushed himself beyond his means, almost to the point of destruction, but no matter how he tried, he could never defeat Override. The constant racing took a noticeable toll on his body. Was he really doing this to win the Key or just to prove to himself he was still the fastest in the galaxy?

Hot Shot was in big trouble when Optimus arrived on Velocitron and found out what he was up to. But Optimus Prime changed his mind when he realized that winning the race was the only way to win the Key. With the Autobots' full support and [[Coby]]'s help, Hot Shot won the Great Race and the Cyber Planet Key.

Later, he would be severely wounded when [[Megatron (UT)|Megatron]] used his Death Machine Gun on him, [[Scattorshot]], and [[Red_Alert_(UT)|Red Alert]]. Fortunately, the powers of Primus acting through the [[Omega Lock]] repaired him into '''Cybertron Defense Hot Shot.''' When the Cybertron Defense Team was sent on an advance mission to Cybertron, Hot Shot and the others had to fight their way through a legion of Scapmetals. Once Megatron arrived on Cybertron he was quickly defeated in a battle by the Cybertron Defense Team.

Much later on Gigantion the Cybertron Defense Team was caught in Soundwave's smokescreen, but they managed to figure out the mysterious agent's mind games and defeat him.

After Override resigned from leadership of Velocitron in order to travel to a new world, Hot Shot won the race to determine who would be her successor, despite his bulky new body.

Perhaps the most thoughtful action of Demolishor in this time was to tear through a door Megatron had saled in order to stop Megatron from destroying [[Starscream (UT)|Starscream]], who Demolishor valued as a Decepticon ally. Demolishor was destroyed by [[Nemesis Prime (UT)|Nemesis Prime]], only to be reformatted into a red/white color scheme(as a homage to his Japanese namesake, [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]]). He would go on to serve in the United Armada against Unicron.

After the end to the great war, Demolishor was assigned as gate security to [[Ocean City]] on [[Earth]]. He often found himself at odds with the peaceful humans and [[Autobot]]s. Demolishor was a being built for war and strategy, and felt heavily misunderstood by all around him.

Demolishor had a specific relationship with [[Ironhide (UT)|Ironhide]] during this period, who didn't trust him for being a Decepticon. Demolishor considered Ironhide a greenhorn soldier and ridiculed him for it.

During Megatron's return, Demolishor was granted that new life of battle he desired. Due to the time spent on earth in peace, Demolishor had secretly developed a kinship with his new friends on earth that would cause problems between he and the returning Megatron. Demolishor would live in confusion and shame until his death, a death he chose as proof of his cause and purpose.

The death would come shortly after the launch of the [[Miranda II]]. [[Dr. Jones]] had fitted it with a portable Energon Field that could be activated at any time. During a Decepticon assault, one involving Demolishor, it was activated, nearly frying Megatron in the process. Demolishor pushed his leader out of harm's way, only to be blown apart by the Energon Ballistics wave instead.

Megatron was hit hard by Demolishor's sacrifice. He immediatley retreated from battle, taking the damaged spark with him. The spark was fitted into a new body, that of a green drump truck. Due to the damage to his spark, this reborn Demolishor exhibited ape-like traits and was easily excited. Demolishor latched onto [[Cyclonus (UT)|Snow Cat]] as a partner-in-crime due to the common level of intelligence they now shared.

Demolishor made his return in the Cybertron toy series, sportion a recolor of his Armada mold that combined his Energon and original Armada color schemes. In bio, Demolishor is said to have been left behind on Cybertron during the evacuation, but has kept himself busy by fighting off the Scrapmetal Terrorcon hoard. Demolishor has heard rumors that Megatron has once again returned from the dead, but is qouted as hoping it is not true, as he enjoys not being pushed around by his commander.

His goal is to become the living center of a swirling, infinite torrent of nothingness.

The only thing that he fears is Primus' essence, contained inside the [[Matrix of Leadership]].

Frequently, Unicron will make deals with lesser beings, giving them vast new powers in exchange for their servitude. These minions are sometimes stripped entirely of their free will, but others follow him willingly. No matter their intent, Unicron's plans ultimately call for their consumption as well.

At the birth of the Universe, an extradimensional entity known as [[The One]] created twin astral beings to reign over the cosmos. One was Primus, the Lord of Light and Order. The other was Unicron, the Lord of Darkness and Chaos. Unicron sought to devour everything that exists and become one with [[The Void]] at the end of all things.

Primus was no match for Unicron. But Primus did manage to trap both his and Unicron's essences inside metallic planetoids. Over time, Unicron learned to shape his planetoid into a metal being that was able to transform between planet mode and a robot mode which resembled his original astral form. The two brothers shared a mental link. So long as Primus hid himself in slumber, so did Unicron also sleep. Their war ended, for a time, in stalemate.

In a battle with [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s [[Pretender]]s, a laser blast ricocheted off Grimlock and struck the essence of the sleeping Primus, causing a multiverse-shaking Primal Scream that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location.

The battle between Primus and Unicron began anew. Though Unicron would sometimes be defeated, this is always temporary, and there is a whole multiverse of realities to consume. When Unicron is destroyed in one reality, he will respawn in another, ready to eat again.

In his first documented appearance, Unicron was known as a giant Transformer which devoured everything in his path. After the Battle of Autobot City, [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and several dead Decepticons were dumped in space. Unicron reformatted Megatron into [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and out of the dead Decepticons, he created [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]], and Scourge's [[Sweeps]]. He ordered them to destroy the Matrix.

Galvatron returned with the Matrix, but intended to use it to make Unicron his slave. Unicron ate him. After eating two of Cybertron's moons, Unicron attacked Cybertron. [[Shockwave]] and the rest of the Decepticons, at the time in control of Cybertron, fought back, but this had little effect. Unicron swallowed many spaceships, one of which contained the young Autobot [[Hot Rod]]. Hot Rod and Galvatron battled deep inside Unicron. Ultimately, Hot Rod was able to retake the Matrix, change into Rodimus Prime, defeat Galvatron, and use the Matrix to destroy Unicron. Unicron's body exploded, though its head remained intact and orbited Cybertron.

Unicron had no explained origin in the movie, but later, in the third season episode "[[Call of the Primitives]]", his history in the animated continuity was revealed - Unicron was created near the beginning of time by an ancient genius called [[Primacron]], to destroy the universe for him to remake in his own image. But Unicron decided that he would be the one to rule the universe, not Primacron, and rebelled against his creator, voyaging out into the vast expanse of space.

His destruction in the movie was not the last the Transformers saw of Unicron - the ghost of Starscream reactivated his severed head and entered into a bargain with Unicron, performing three labours in exchange for the restoration of his body. [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and Scourge gathered for Unicron [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s eyes (breaking one and replacing it with one from [[Trypticon]]) and Trypticon's [[transformation cog]], and then connected his head to Cybertron, which would become Unicron's new body. Starscream demanded that Unicron restore his body so that he could complete the connection; but once Unicron had done so, Starscream double-crossed him and refused to finish the job. Unicron's head was subsequently blown off into space by an explosion instigated by the Autobots.

Later, when searching for a new supply of anti-electrons, the Decepticons ventured to Unicron's head, where Cyclonus and Scourge accidentally awoke the slumbering demi-god. At the same time, Grimlock - who had gained super-intelligence through an infusion of anti-electrons - had constructed from pieces of Unicron's head the [[Technobot]]s, and one of their number, [[Strafe (G1)|Strafe]], severed enough of Unicron's neural connections to shut him back down.

Unlike the comics portrayal, Unicron is shown to be a large transforming machine and not a godlike being.

Following his destruction in 2006, Unicron's severed lifeforce was displaced in time to Earth's distant past, prior to the Beast Wars. It rested in the pit caused by its own impact, quiescent for many millenia, until found by a Predacon known as The Hunter around the Machine Era.

Taking the name [[Shokaract]], he used this Dark Essence to conquer, ruling over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future.

Due to severe time-travel mischief, the events leading up to Shokaracts's timeline were averted when
the Dark Essence fled Earth from the Beast Wars.

The Dark Essence possessed only rudimentary intelligence, lacking the full force of Unicron's personality. It appears Unicron's Spark remained with his severed head (which has a back-up spark chamber) in 2005, while his power was displaced in time.

Is it unclear if this displacement was accidental, or represents an attemt by Unicron to preserve his power.

Shokaract contained the Dark Essence within a [[Matrix of Conquest]] from which he drew his powers.
This is very similar to the relationship between Primus and the Matrix of Leadership, where The Matrix holds the majority of his power, leaving Primus himself weak. The Matrix of Conquest appears to be unique to Shokaract's timeline branch, and would not exist outside of it.

====Beast Wars II and Neo====

After the events of ''The Transformers: The Movie'', Unicron's lifeforce (the green energy seen exploding from his body) raced across time and space until it landed on the distant world of [[Gaia]], riddling itself into the planet's surface. His lifeforce caused many strange phenomenon all over the planet, and was eventually dubbed [[Angolmois]] energy.

It proved to be a powerful energy source, leaving [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] to attempt to harvest the energy for himself. Using his massive spacecraft, the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], he sucked all the the Angolmois energy out of the planet and into the craft. However, after the interference of [[Lio Convoy]] and [[Lio Junior]], Galvatron sealed all the Angolmois energy into capsules and ejected them from the Nemesis as it self-destructed.

[[Big Convoy]] and [[Magmatron]] then raced to collect the angolmois capsules, as their energy effects were wreaking havoc on planets all over the galaxy. They eventually collected all the capsules only to find themselves attacked by the mysterious, and freakish, [[Blentron]]s. The Blentrons proved nearly invincible and stole the capsules from each team. They released the Angolmois energy and allowed it to possess Galvatron's dead body. Unicron was reborn once more.

Unicron then absorbed the last remaining ounce of stray Angolmois energy, the Blentrons, and left to settle his score with Cybertron. The [[Maximal Elder]]s attempted to hold Unicron off with their entire armada, but Unicron's fiery serpent mode proved too much and he effortlessly destroyed the armada and the Maximal Elders. Unicron then possessed [[Vector Sigma]], the mother computer of [[Cybertron]], effectively possessing the planet. He then morphed the planet into his new body, fulfilling the goal he originally attempted back in 2006 (or 2010, since this is Japanese continuity).

Unicron briefly exited Vector Sigma to deal with the last remaining Cybertronian resistance. Big Convoy, his Maximal new recruits, Lio Convoy and Magmatron all fought side-by-side against Unicron, but all they managed to do was stall him. Big Convoy then powered up his Big Cannon with his own [[Leadership Matrix]], transforming it into the Matrix Buster. Big Convoy shot Unicron with the weapon, the powerful blast seemingly destroying the Chaos Bringer. Unicron's spirit was then evicted from Vector Sigma, returning Cybertron to normal.

After being defeated by the [[Wreckers]], Unicron floated in ruin. Using what energies he had left, he called Transformers from various corners of the multiverse inside him to do battle. Primal was able to set free the captives inside Unicron and begin a new war between the Minions of Unicron and the Children of Primus.

Disguised as Cybertron's moon, Unicron created the race of small robots known as the [[Mini-Cons]] to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war. When conflict exists, Unicron can feed off the energies released.

When the Mini-Cons found their way to Earth, they were followed by the Autobots and Decepticons. Unicron dispatched an agent, [[Sideways]], a mysterious agent that served as the vessel for Unicron's spark in this reality, to carry on his work. Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Cons weapons - the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]], the [[Skyboom Shield]] and the [[Requiem Blaster]], the three keys that were then used to awaken Unicron.

As Unicron turned on Cybertron, the Mini-Cons broke free of his control, deactivating him - but when [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] then began his final battle with [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], the hatred and ferocity of the fight awoke Unicron once more.

To end the circle of hate that gave Unicron life, Galvatron allowed himself to be consumed by the monster, and in a brilliant flash of light, Unicron apparently ceased to exist.

Unbeknownst to the Autobot heroes, Unicron's body had fallen into a state of decay. Operating at low, almost undetectable energy levels, Unicron was rotting away in what was called the "Graveyard of the Universe". A spark from the past would be enough to change all of this. Alpha-Q, a terrorcon-related alien being from a far away world, Planet Q, would awaken within the dying giant and discover that Unicron's cells had the ability to restore life, just as it did to create the mini-cons eons before. Alpha-Q, having had his own homeworld detonated and consumed by Unicron in the past sought to restore Unicron enough to manipulate his body into restoring the world and galaxy that he lost. Alpha-Q used the cells to restore himself to a suit of armor, as well as create sparkless drones of his former race to carry out his deed: collect energon. As energon was collected, Unicron grew stronger.

However, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body.

The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.
Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. In the ensuing battle between Unicron and the super-powered [[Optimus Supreme]], Unicron's body was successfully destroyed.

But unbeknownst to anyone, he lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudgings, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservior of "[[Super Energon]]" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure.

After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron made the decision to plunge himself into the infant sun to rid himself of Unicron's posession. The super energon mass, having now recieved Unicron's spark, ignited into a powerful red sun which gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds.

Primus' plan to trap Unicron in the heart of a new sun failed, and instead resulted in a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] (or Unicron Singularity) that threatened the multiverse. His heralds [[Ramjet (Universe)|Ramjet]] and [[Nemesis Prime (Universe)|Nemesis Prime]] travelled to Cybertron to unleash the [[Dead Matrix]] upon Primus' vulnerable essence.

Vector Prime was able to defeat Ramjet and send him into the black hole in which Unicron was trapped, while [[Sentinel Maximus (Universe)|Sentinel Maximus]] with the help of [[Omega Prime (Universe)|Omega Prime]] was able to stop Nemesis Prime from unleashing the power of the [[Dead Matrix]] on Primus. However, [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] and [[Laserbeak (Cybertron)|Laserbeak]] were able to retrieve the Dead Matrix, and they brought it to ground zero of the Unicron Singularity. With some adjustments, the Dead Matrix was able to extract Unicron's spark from the black hole, looking much the way it did when it took over Galvatron at the end of Energon, and, after the lifeforce consumed the planet [[Yst]], the Dark God exploded from the remains reborn.

Unicron had no explained origin in the movie, but later, in the third season episode "[[Call of the Primitives]]", his history in the animated continuity was revealed - Unicron was created near the beginning of time by an ancient genius called [[Primacron]], to destroy the universe for him to remake in his own image. But Unicron decided that he would be the one to rule the universe, not Primacron, and rebelled against his creator, voyaging out into the vast expanse of space.

His destruction in the movie was not the last the Transformers saw of Unicron - the ghost of Starscream reactivated his severed head and entered into a bargain with Unicron, performing three labours in exchange for the restoration of his body. [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and Scourge gathered for Unicron [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s eyes (breaking one and replacing it with one from [[Trypticon]]) and Trypticon's [[transformation cog]], and then connected his head to Cybertron, which would become Unicron's new body. Starscream demanded that Unicron restore his body so that he could complete the connection; but once Unicron had done so, Starscream double-crossed him and refused to finish the job. Unicron's head was subsequently blown off into space by an explosion instigated by the Autobots.

Later, when searching for a new supply of anti-electrons, the Decepticons ventured to Unicron's head, where Cyclonus and Scourge accidentally awoke the slumbering demi-god. At the same time, Grimlock - who had gained super-intelligence through an infusion of anti-electrons - had constructed from pieces of Unicron's head the [[Technobot]]s, and one of their number, [[Strafe (G1)|Strafe]], severed enough of Unicron's neural connections to shut him back down.

Unlike the comics portrayal, Unicron is shown to be a large transforming machine and not a godlike being.

Following his destruction in 2006, Unicron's severed lifeforce was displaced in time to Earth's distant past, prior to the Beast Wars. It rested in the pit caused by its own impact, quiescent for many millenia, until found by a Predacon known as The Hunter around the Machine Era.

Taking the name [[Shokaract]], he used this Dark Essence to conquer, ruling over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future.

Due to severe time-travel mischief, the events leading up to Shokaracts's timeline were averted when
the Dark Essence fled Earth from the Beast Wars.

The Dark Essence possessed only rudimentary intelligence, lacking the full force of Unicron's personality. It appears Unicron's Spark remained with his severed head (which has a back-up spark chamber) in 2005, while his power was displaced in time.

Is it unclear if this displacement was accidental, or represents an attemt by Unicron to preserve his power.

Shokaract contained the Dark Essence within a [[Matrix of Conquest]] from which he drew his powers.
This is very similar to the relationship between Primus and the Matrix of Leadership, where The Matrix holds the majority of his power, leaving Primus himself weak. The Matrix of Conquest appears to be unique to Shokaract's timeline branch, and would not exist outside of it.

====Beast Wars II and Neo====

After the events of ''The Transformers: The Movie'', Unicron's lifeforce (the green energy seen exploding from his body) raced across time and space until it landed on the distant world of [[Gaia]], riddling itself into the planet's surface. His lifeforce caused many strange phenomenon all over the planet, and was eventually dubbed [[Angolmois]] energy.

It proved to be a powerful energy source, leaving [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] to attempt to harvest the energy for himself. Using his massive spacecraft, the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], he sucked all the the Angolmois energy out of the planet and into the craft. However, after the interference of [[Lio Convoy]] and [[Lio Junior]], Galvatron sealed all the Angolmois energy into capsules and ejected them from the Nemesis as it self-destructed.

[[Big Convoy]] and [[Magmatron]] then raced to collect the angolmois capsules, as their energy effects were wreaking havoc on planets all over the galaxy. They eventually collected all the capsules only to find themselves attacked by the mysterious, and freakish, [[Blentron]]s. The Blentrons proved nearly invincible and stole the capsules from each team. They released the Angolmois energy and allowed it to possess Galvatron's dead body. Unicron was reborn once more.

Unicron then absorbed the last remaining ounce of stray Angolmois energy, the Blentrons, and left to settle his score with Cybertron. The [[Maximal Elder]]s attempted to hold Unicron off with their entire armada, but Unicron's fiery serpent mode proved too much and he effortlessly destroyed the armada and the Maximal Elders. Unicron then possessed [[Vector Sigma]], the mother computer of [[Cybertron]], effectively possessing the planet. He then morphed the planet into his new body, fulfilling the goal he originally attempted back in 2006 (or 2010, since this is Japanese continuity).

Unicron briefly exited Vector Sigma to deal with the last remaining Cybertronian resistance. Big Convoy, his Maximal new recruits, Lio Convoy and Magmatron all fought side-by-side against Unicron, but all they managed to do was stall him. Big Convoy then powered up his Big Cannon with his own [[Leadership Matrix]], transforming it into the Matrix Buster. Big Convoy shot Unicron with the weapon, the powerful blast seemingly destroying the Chaos Bringer. Unicron's spirit was then evicted from Vector Sigma, returning Cybertron to normal.

Disguised as Cybertron's moon, Unicron created the race of small robots known as the [[Mini-Cons]] to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war. When conflict exists, Unicron can feed off the energies released.

When the Mini-Cons found their way to Earth, they were followed by the Autobots and Decepticons. Unicron dispatched an agent, [[Sideways]], a mysterious agent that served as the vessel for Unicron's spark in this reality, to carry on his work. Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Cons weapons - the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]], the [[Skyboom Shield]] and the [[Requiem Blaster]], the three keys that were then used to awaken Unicron.

As Unicron turned on Cybertron, the Mini-Cons broke free of his control, deactivating him - but when [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] then began his final battle with [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], the hatred and ferocity of the fight awoke Unicron once more.

To end the circle of hate that gave Unicron life, Galvatron allowed himself to be consumed by the monster, and in a brilliant flash of light, Unicron apparently ceased to exist.

Unbeknownst to the Autobot heroes, Unicron's body had fallen into a state of decay. Operating at low, almost undetectable energy levels, Unicron was rotting away in what was called the "Graveyard of the Universe". A spark from the past would be enough to change all of this. Alpha-Q, a terrorcon-related alien being from a far away world, Planet Q, would awaken within the dying giant and discover that Unicron's cells had the ability to restore life, just as it did to create the mini-cons eons before. Alpha-Q, having had his own homeworld detonated and consumed by Unicron in the past sought to restore Unicron enough to manipulate his body into restoring the world and galaxy that he lost. Alpha-Q used the cells to restore himself to a suit of armor, as well as create sparkless drones of his former race to carry out his deed: collect energon. As energon was collected, Unicron grew stronger.

However, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body.

The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.
Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. In the ensuing battle between Unicron and the super-powered [[Optimus Supreme]], Unicron's body was successfully destroyed.

But unbeknownst to anyone, he lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudgings, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservior of "[[Super Energon]]" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure.

After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron made the decision to plunge himself into the infant sun to rid himself of Unicron's posession. The super energon mass, having now recieved Unicron's spark, ignited into a powerful red sun which gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds.

Primus' plan to trap Unicron in the heart of a new sun failed, and instead resulted in a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] (or Unicron Singularity) that threatened the multiverse. His heralds [[Ramjet (Universe)|Ramjet]] and [[Nemesis Prime (Universe)|Nemesis Prime]] travelled to Cybertron to unleash the [[Dead Matrix]] upon Primus' vulnerable essence.

Vector Prime was able to defeat Ramjet and send him into the black hole in which Unicron was trapped, while [[Sentinel Maximus (Universe)|Sentinel Maximus]] with the help of [[Omega Prime (Universe)|Omega Prime]] was able to stop Nemesis Prime from unleashing the power of the [[Dead Matrix]] on Primus. However, [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] and [[Laserbeak (Cybertron)|Laserbeak]] were able to retrieve the Dead Matrix, and they brought it to ground zero of the Unicron Singularity. With some adjustments, the Dead Matrix was able to extract Unicron's lifeforce from the black hole, and, after the lifeforce consumed the planet [[Yst]], the Dark God exploded from the remains reborn.

Primus was no match for Unicron. But Primus did manage to trap both his and Unicron's essences inside metallic planetoids. Over time, Unicron learned to shape his planetoid into a metal being that was able to transform between planet mode and a robot mode which resembled his original astral form. The two brothers shared a mental link. So long as Primus hid himself in slumber, so did Unicron also sleep. Their war ended, for a time, in stalemate.

In one particular timeline, circa the Earth year 1990, [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], [[Jazz]], and [[Bumblebee]] found themselves transported to the center of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. In a battle with [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s [[Pretender]]s, a laser blast ricocheted off Grimlock and struck the essence of the sleeping Primus, causing a multiverse-shaking Primal Scream that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location.

The battle between Primus and Unicron began anew. Though Unicron would sometimes be defeated, this is always temporary, and there is a whole multiverse of realities to consume. When Unicron is destroyed in one reality, he will respawn in another, ready to eat again.

Unicron had no explained origin in the movie, but later, in the third season episode "[[Call of the Primitives]]", his history in the animated continuity was revealed - Unicron was created near the beginning of time by an ancient genius called [[Primacron]], to destroy the universe for him to remake in his own image. But Unicron decided that he would be the one to rule the universe, not Primacron, and rebelled against his creator, voyaging out into the vast expanse of space.

His destruction in the movie was not the last the Transformers saw of Unicron - the ghost of Starscream reactivated his severed head and entered into a bargain with Unicron, performing three labours in exchange for the restoration of his body. [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and Scourge gathered for Unicron [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s eyes (breaking one and replacing it with one from [[Trypticon]]) and Trypticon's [[transformation cog]], and then connected his head to Cybertron, which would become Unicron's new body. Starscream demanded that Unicron restore his body so that he could complete the connection; but once Unicron had done so, Starscream double-crossed him and refused to finish the job. Unicron's head was subsequently blown off into space by an explosion instigated by the Autobots.

Later, when searching for a new supply of anti-electrons, the Decepticons ventured to Unicron's head, where Cyclonus and Scourge accidentally awoke the slumbering demi-god. At the same time, Grimlock - who had gained super-intelligence through an infusion of anti-electrons - had constructed from pieces of Unicron's head the [[Technobot]]s, and one of their number, [[Strafe (G1)|Strafe]], severed enough of Unicron's neural connections to shut him back down.

Unlike the comics portrayal, Unicron is shown to be a large transforming machine and not a godlike being.

Following his destruction in 2006, Unicron's severed lifeforce was displaced in time to Earth's distant past, prior to the Beast Wars. It rested in the pit caused by its own impact, quiescent for many millenia, until found by a Predacon known as The Hunter around the Machine Era.

Taking the name [[Shokaract]], he used this Dark Essence to conquer, ruling over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future.

Due to severe time-travel mischief, the events leading up to Shokaracts's timeline were averted when
the Dark Essence fled Earth from the Beast Wars.

====Dark Essence====

The Dark Essence possessed only rudimentary intelligence, lacking the full force of Unicron's personality. It appears Unicron's Spark remained with his severed head (which has a back-up spark chamber) in 2005, while his power was displaced in time.

Is it unclear if this displacement was accidental, or represents an attemt by Unicron to preserve his power.

Shokaract contained the Dark Essence within a [[Matrix of Conquest]] from which he drew his powers.
This is very similar to the relationship between Primus and the Matrix of Leadership, where The Matrix holds the majority of his power, leaving Primus himself weak. The Matrix of Conquest appears to be unique to Shokaract's timeline branch, and would not exist outside of it.

====Beast Wars II and Neo====

After the events of ''The Transformers: The Movie'', Unicron's lifeforce (the green energy seen exploding from his body) raced across time and space until it landed on the distant world of [[Gaia]], riddling itself into the planet's surface. His lifeforce caused many strange phenomenon all over the planet, and was eventually dubbed [[Angolmois]] energy.

It proved to be a powerful energy source, leaving [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] to attempt to harvest the energy for himself. Using his massive spacecraft, the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], he sucked all the the Angolmois energy out of the planet and into the craft. However, after the interference of [[Lio Convoy]] and [[Lio Junior]], Galvatron sealed all the Angolmois energy into capsules and ejected them from the Nemesis as it self-destructed.

[[Big Convoy]] and [[Magmatron]] then raced to collect the angolmois capsules, as their energy effects were wreaking havoc on planets all over the galaxy. They eventually collected all the capsules only to find themselves attacked by the mysterious, and freakish, [[Blentron]]s. The Blentrons proved nearly invincible and stole the capsules from each team. They released the Angolmois energy and allowed it to possess Galvatron's dead body. Unicron was reborn once more.

Unicron then absorbed the last remaining ounce of stray Angolmois energy, the Blentrons, and left to settle his score with Cybertron. The [[Maximal Elder]]s attempted to hold Unicron off with their entire armada, but Unicron's fiery serpent mode proved too much and he effortlessly destroyed the armada and the Maximal Elders. Unicron then possessed [[Vector Sigma]], the mother computer of [[Cybertron]], effectively possessing the planet. He then morphed the planet into his new body, fulfilling the goal he originally attempted back in 2006 (or 2010, since this is Japanese continuity).

Unicron briefly exited Vector Sigma to deal with the last remaining Cybertronian resistance. Big Convoy, his Maximal new recruits, Lio Convoy and Magmatron all fought side-by-side against Unicron, but all they managed to do was stall him. Big Convoy then powered up his Big Cannon with his own [[Leadership Matrix]], transforming it into the Matrix Buster. Big Convoy shot Unicron with the weapon, the powerful blast seemingly destroying the Chaos Bringer. Unicron's spirit was then evicted from Vector Sigma, returning Cybertron to normal.

After being defeated by the [[Wreckers]], Unicron floated in ruin. Using what energies he had left, he called Transformers from various corners of the multiverse inside him to do battle. He feasted upon the sparks of the losers, growing ever more powerful. Primus countered this by calling his own army from the multiverse, led by [[Optimus Primal]]. Primal was able to set free the captives inside Unicron and begin a new war between the Minions of Unicron and the Children of Primus.

Disguised as Cybertron's moon, Unicron created the race of small robots known as the [[Mini-Cons]] to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war. When conflict exists, Unicron can feed off the energies released.

When the Mini-Cons found their way to Earth, they were followed by the Autobots and Decepticons. Unicron dispatched an agent, [[Sideways]], a mysterious agent that served as the vessel for Unicron's spark in this reality, to carry on his work. Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Cons weapons - the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]], the [[Skyboom Shield]] and the [[Requiem Blaster]], the three keys that were then used to awaken Unicron.

As Unicron turned on Cybertron, the Mini-Cons broke free of his control, deactivating him - but when [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] then began his final battle with [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], the hatred and ferocity of the fight awoke Unicron once more.

To end the circle of hate that gave Unicron life, Galvatron allowed himself to be consumed by the monster, and in a brilliant flash of light, Unicron apparently ceased to exist.

Unbeknownst to the Autobot heroes, Unicron's body had fallen into a state of decay. Operating at low, almost undetectable energy levels, Unicron was rotting away in what was called the "Graveyard of the Universe". A spark from the past would be enough to change all of this. Alpha-Q, a terrorcon-related alien being from a far away world, Planet Q, would awaken within the dying giant and discover that Unicron's cells had the ability to restore life, just as it did to create the mini-cons eons before. Alpha-Q, having had his own homeworld detonated and consumed by Unicron in the past sought to restore Unicron enough to manipulate his body into restoring the world and galaxy that he lost. Alpha-Q used the cells to restore himself to a suit of armor, as well as create sparkless drones of his former race to carry out his deed: collect energon. As energon was collected, Unicron grew stronger.

However, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body.

The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.
Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. In the ensuing battle between Unicron and the super-powered [[Optimus Supreme]], Unicron's body was successfully destroyed.

But unbeknownst to anyone, he lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudgings, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservior of "[[Super Energon]]" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure.

After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron once again sacrificed himself in order to stop Unicron, plunging himself into the infant sun, which ignited and gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds.

Primus' plan to trap Unicron in the heart of a new sun failed, and instead resulted in a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] (or Unicron Singularity) that threatened the multiverse. His heralds [[Ramjet (Universe)|Ramjet]] and [[Nemesis Prime (Universe)|Nemesis Prime]] travelled to Cybertron to unleash the [[Dead Matrix]] upon Primus' vulnerable essence.

Vector Prime was able to defeat Ramjet and send him into the black hole in which Unicron was trapped, while [[Sentinel Maximus (Universe)|Sentinel Maximus]] with the help of [[Omega Prime (Universe)|Omega Prime]] was able to stop Nemesis Prime from unleashing the power of the [[Dead Matrix]] on Primus. However, [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] and [[Laserbeak (Cybertron)|Laserbeak]] were able to retrieve the Dead Matrix, and they brought it to ground zero of the Unicron Singularity. With some adjustments, the Dead Matrix was able to extract Unicron's lifeforce from the black hole, and, after the lifeforce consumed the planet [[Yst]], the Dark God exploded from the remains reborn.

A button on the top of the head also activated the blinking eye lights. The Mini-Con Dead End was sold with Unicron and could turn into a moon to go with Unicron's planet mode. Planet Q was not consumed between Energon and Armada. Unicron was also put into stasis after Armada and remained that way. Alpha-Q's demise happened eons ago, right after Rodimus left Cybertron. It's confusing in the dub because it contradicts itself, but Super-Link has it spelled out correctly. Alpha-Q actually states he was lost in Unicron for "ages and ages, alone." which is what drove him to madness. The Energon dub never really explains what timeline all of this occurred and it seems the writers never really knew themselves. Another dub error is that Rodimus states Planet-Q put Unicron into stasis. This is not true, the story is exactly the opposite. Unicron survived just fine, hence why all the sparks from the planet were absorbed into his body as he carried on his world-ravaging. -Bodycount

Thanks. Unicron's a toughie. He has 30 zillion different conflicting stories and origins, but he's canonically all the same guy, and all of his appearances across the different continuities apparently happen in a sequential order. I feel that the Unicron trilogy (Micron trilogy in Japan) Generation section should be broken up between Dreamwave Continuity (the comics) and Animated Continuity (the TV shows.) I feel this way because a) The use of the phrase 'comics continuity' is too confusing when you have some comics liek Linkage and the Colelctor Club stuff in 'toon continuity. b) They should be by continuity, not by series because otherwise it just becoems too disjointed, and the contnections between the series are weak enough as it is. Were the Hasbro and Takara G1 Unicron protos different toys? I was under the impression they were two test-shots of the same mold.

:They're different moulds, I think, but based off the same basic proto, maybe. Takara's is noticably fatter, and has the cord coming from it. It also appears to have an open robot mode mouth, and the "moon" accessory (or perhaps this was a planet Unicron would electronically "eat," but IIRC early Unicronian concept art shows the moon, and all the Movie toys were based off earlier concept art, thusly...) Primus was no match for Unicron. But Primus did manage to trap both his and Unicron's essences inside metallic planetoids. Over time, Unicron learned to shape his planetoid into a metal being that was able to transform between planet mode and a robot mode which resembled his original astral form. The two brothers shared a mental link. So long as Primus hid himself in slumber, so did Unicron also sleep. Their war ended, for a time, in stalemate.

In one particular timeline, circa the Earth year 1990, [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], [[Jazz]], and [[Bumblebee]] found themselves transported to the center of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. In a battle with [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s [[Pretender]]s, a laser blast ricocheted off Grimlock and struck the essence of the sleeping Primus, causing a multiverse-shaking Primal Scream that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location.

The battle between Primus and Unicron began anew. Though Unicron would sometimes be defeated, this is always temporary, and there is a whole multiverse of realities to consume. When Unicron is destroyed in one reality, he will respawn in another, ready to eat again.

After the Primal Scream, Unicron headed directly towards Cybertron. He created three [[Heralds]] to send ahead of him and prepare the Transformers for his arrival: [[Hook (Herald)|Hook]], [[Line]], and [[Sinker]]. He also borrowed a version of Galvatron from another dimension's future in which he was successful in devouring Cybertron.

Unicron placed a mental command in some Transformers, generating a cult of Autobots and Decepticons. His worshippers gathered to attack the leader of the two united factions, which had gathered on Cybertron when they sensed Unicron drawing near. Their assassination attempt was defeated with the help of Galvatron, Unicron's wayward herald.

Unicron was so unimaginably large that the sight of him froze both Transformer factions into inaction. Unicron, disappointed that victory was this simple, tore apart the planet's surface. It was only the actions of the kidnapped Galvatron that snapped the Transformers out of their collective terror. Even the united Transformers were unable to hold Unicron off. After being fazed by the [[Neo-Knight]] [[Rapture]] and temporarily shorted out by [[Circuit Breaker]], it was [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] who flew towards Unicron and opened the Matrix. The life contained inside caused Unicron to explode.

''In an alternate timeline, rather than attack Cybertron in 1990, Unicron made his appearance in 2006, in events similar to ''The Transformers: The Movie''. Destroyed by the power of the Matrix, his head crash-landed on the planet [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]], where he used mind control to force the native [[Junkion]]s to build him a new body out of the planet of Junk. At the beginning of 2008, he pulled [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and [[Death's Head]] into his thrall and used them to re-ignite the stalemated Cybertronian war in order to keep the Autobots distracted from his activities. In his first documented appearance, Unicron was known as a giant Transformer which devoured everything in his path. After the Battle of Autobot City, [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and several dead Decepticons were dumped in space. Unicron reformatted Megatron into [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and out of the dead Decepticons, he created [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]], and Scourge's [[Sweeps]]. He ordered them to destroy the Matrix.

Galvatron returned with the Matrix, but intended to use it to make Unicron his slave. Unicron ate him. After eating two of Cybertron's moons, Unicron attacked Cybertron. [[Shockwave]] and the rest of the Decepticons, at the time in control of Cybertron, fought back, but this had little effect. Unicron swallowed many spaceships, one of which contained the young Autobot [[Hot Rod]]. Hot Rod and Galvatron battled deep inside Unicron. Ultimately, Hot Rod was able to retake the Matrix, change into Rodimus Prime, defeat Galvatron, and use the Matrix to destroy Unicron. Unicron's body exploded, though its head remained intact and orbited Cybertron.

Unicron had no explained origin in the movie, but later, in the third season episode "[[Call of the Primitives]]", his history in the animated continuity was revealed - Unicron was created near the beginning of time by an ancient genius called [[Primacron]], to destroy the universe for him to remake in his own image. But Unicron decided that he would be the one to rule the universe, not Primacron, and rebelled against his creator, voyaging out into the vast expanse of space.

His destruction in the movie was not the last the Transformers saw of Unicron - the ghost of Starscream reactivated his severed head and entered into a bargain with Unicron, performing three labours in exchange for the restoration of his body. [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and Scourge gathered for Unicron [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s eyes (breaking one and replacing it with one from [[Trypticon]]) and Trypticon's [[transformation cog]], and then connected his head to Cybertron, which would become Unicron's new body. Starscream demanded that Unicron restore his body so that he could complete the connection; but once Unicron had done so, Starscream double-crossed him and refused to finish the job. Unicron's head was subsequently blown off into space by an explosion instigated by the Autobots.

Later, when searching for a new supply of anti-electrons, the Decepticons ventured to Unicron's head, where Cyclonus and Scourge accidentally awoke the slumbering demi-god. At the same time, Grimlock - who had gained super-intelligence through an infusion of anti-electrons - had constructed from pieces of Unicron's head the [[Technobot]]s, and one of their number, [[Strafe (G1)|Strafe]], severed enough of Unicron's neural connections to shut him back down.

Unlike the comics portrayal, Unicron is shown to be a large transforming machine and not a godlike being.

Following his destruction in 2006, Unicron's severed lifeforce was displaced in time to Earth's distant past, prior to the Beast Wars. It rested in the pit caused by its own impact, quiescent for many millenia, until found by a Predacon known as The Hunter around the Machine Era.

Taking the name [[Shokaract]], he used this Dark Essence to conquer, ruling over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future.

Due to severe time-travel mischief, the events leading up to Shokaracts's timeline were averted when
the Dark Essence fled Earth from the Beast Wars.

====Dark Essence====

The Dark Essence possessed only rudimentary intelligence, lacking the full force of Unicron's personality. It appears Unicron's Spark remained with his severed head (which has a back-up spark chamber) in 2005, while his power was displaced in time.

Is it unclear if this displacement was accidental, or represents an attemt by Unicron to preserve his power.

Shokaract contained the Dark Essence within a [[Matrix of Conquest]] from which he drew his powers.
This is very similar to the relationship between Primus and the Matrix of Leadership, where The Matrix holds the majority of his power, leaving Primus himself weak. The Matrix of Conquest appears to be unique to Shokaract's timeline branch, and would not exist outside of it.

====Beast Wars II and Neo====

After the events of ''The Transformers: The Movie'', Unicron's lifeforce (the green energy seen exploding from his body) raced across time and space until it landed on the distant world of [[Gaia]], riddling itself into the planet's surface. His lifeforce caused many strange phenomenon all over the planet, and was eventually dubbed [[Angolmois]] energy.

It proved to be a powerful energy source, leaving [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] to attempt to harvest the energy for himself. Using his massive spacecraft, the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], he sucked all the the Angolmois energy out of the planet and into the craft. However, after the interference of [[Lio Convoy]] and [[Lio Junior]], Galvatron sealed all the Angolmois energy into capsules and ejected them from the Nemesis as it self-destructed.

[[Big Convoy]] and [[Magmatron]] then raced to collect the angolmois capsules, as their energy effects were wreaking havoc on planets all over the galaxy. They eventually collected all the capsules only to find themselves attacked by the mysterious, and freakish, [[Blentron]]s. The Blentrons proved nearly invincible and stole the capsules from each team. They released the Angolmois energy and allowed it to possess Galvatron's dead body. Unicron was reborn once more.

Unicron then absorbed the last remaining ounce of stray Angolmois energy, the Blentrons, and left to settle his score with Cybertron. The [[Maximal Elder]]s attempted to hold Unicron off with their entire armada, but Unicron's fiery serpent mode proved too much and he effortlessly destroyed the armada and the Maximal Elders. Unicron then possessed [[Vector Sigma]], the mother computer of [[Cybertron]], effectively possessing the planet. He then morphed the planet into his new body, fulfilling the goal he originally attempted back in 2006 (or 2010, since this is Japanese continuity).

Unicron briefly exited Vector Sigma to deal with the last remaining Cybertronian resistance. Big Convoy, his Maximal new recruits, Lio Convoy and Magmatron all fought side-by-side against Unicron, but all they managed to do was stall him. Big Convoy then powered up his Big Cannon with his own [[Leadership Matrix]], transforming it into the Matrix Buster. Big Convoy shot Unicron with the weapon, the powerful blast seemingly destroying the Chaos Bringer. Unicron's spirit was then evicted from Vector Sigma, returning Cybertron to normal.

After being defeated by the [[Wreckers]], Unicron floated in ruin. Using what energies he had left, he called Transformers from various corners of the multiverse inside him to do battle. He feasted upon the sparks of the losers, growing ever more powerful. Primus countered this by calling his own army from the multiverse, led by [[Optimus Primal]]. Primal was able to set free the captives inside Unicron and begin a new war between the Minions of Unicron and the Children of Primus.

Disguised as Cybertron's moon, Unicron created the race of small robots known as the [[Mini-Cons]] to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war. When conflict exists, Unicron can feed off the energies released.

When the Mini-Cons found their way to Earth, they were followed by the Autobots and Decepticons. Unicron dispatched an agent, [[Sideways]], a mysterious agent that served as the vessel for Unicron's spark in this reality, to carry on his work. Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Cons weapons - the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]], the [[Skyboom Shield]] and the [[Requiem Blaster]], the three keys that were then used to awaken Unicron.

As Unicron turned on Cybertron, the Mini-Cons broke free of his control, deactivating him - but when [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] then began his final battle with [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], the hatred and ferocity of the fight awoke Unicron once more.

To end the circle of hate that gave Unicron life, Galvatron allowed himself to be consumed by the monster, and in a brilliant flash of light, Unicron apparently ceased to exist.

Alas, it was not to be, for there is always hate in the universe. Having survived, Unicron started to consume worlds in the far reaches of space, with the Transformers unaware of his deeds. One such unfortunate world was [[Planet Q]], but the general of that world's armies detonated the planet's core as Unicron consumed it, heavily damaging him and forcing him into dormancy - and within Unicron, the spark of Planet Q's leader, [[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]], still existed, and recreated his planet's armies as Terrorcons to gather [[Energon]] to regenerate all the worlds Unicron had consumed.

However, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body.

The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.
Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. In the ensuing battle between Unicron and the super-powered [[Optimus Supreme]], Unicron's body was successfully destroyed.

But unbeknownst to anyone, he lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudgings, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservior of "[[Super Energon]]" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure.

After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron once again sacrificed himself in order to stop Unicron, plunging himself into the infant sun, which ignited and gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds.

Primus' plan to trap Unicron in the heart of a new sun failed, and instead resulted in a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] (or Unicron Singularity) that threatened the multiverse. His heralds [[Ramjet (Universe)|Ramjet]] and [[Nemesis Prime (Universe)|Nemesis Prime]] travelled to Cybertron to unleash the [[Dead Matrix]] upon Primus' vulnerable essence.

Vector Prime was able to defeat Ramjet and send him into the black hole in which Unicron was trapped, while [[Sentinel Maximus (Universe)|Sentinel Maximus]] with the help of [[Omega Prime (Universe)|Omega Prime]] was able to stop Nemesis Prime from unleashing the power of the [[Dead Matrix]] on Primus. However, [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] and [[Laserbeak (Cybertron)|Laserbeak]] were able to retrieve the Dead Matrix, and they brought it to ground zero of the Unicron Singularity. With some adjustments, the Dead Matrix was able to extract Unicron's lifeforce from the black hole, and, after the lifeforce consumed the planet [[Yst]], the Dark God exploded from the remains reborn.

It featured many Mini-Con ports on the planet's rings and had compartments for Mini-Cons. One Mini-Con port on the back of the robot activated blinking eye lights and a cannon that bursts from the chest and shoots a missile. A button on the top of the head also activated the blinking eye lights. The Mini-Con Dead End was sold with Unicron and could turn into a moon to go with Unicron's planet mode. For additional interactivity, Dead End could plug into the crater on Unicron's planet mode to serve as a gun.

This toy was also very notable for being the first "modern" Transformers release in the main line at the $50-price point.
