Ahem.
Just before the Armada toyline's imminent release in 2002, scans of the first pack-in mini-comic were put online both at Transformers.com and at Ben's World of Transformers, the latter of which received early production samples from Hasbro for review. The original comic was trilingual, forcing the writer to fit three languages worth of dialogue into tiny word bubbles, resulting in short and often stilted prose. Because of these limitations, many found the mini-comic to be a bit lacking. The British fan Yartek took it upon himself to rewrite the dialogue as nonsense, portraying Hot Shot as a mentally challenged, tortured freak of nature, famously proclaiming such things as "mY liFE iS PaIn" and "WhY mY ShOuLdErS hUrT?" in randomly uppercase and lowercase letters. (This was, perhaps, Yartek's commentary on the art.)

The rewritten mini-comic proved to be wildly popular in the fandom and grew to be one of the most persistent memes through the duration of Armada and beyond. When Ben Yee overhauled his toy review system, he commissioned Hot Shot fan David Willis to create a series of images based on the mini-comic. Ironically, the Hot Shot toy itself rated poorly on Ben Yee's scale.

Hot Shot's love of jaAm has not been acknowledged yet by any official material. The first Dreamwave Energon mini-comic did include both Hot Shot and a pool of yellow-green liquid energon,
however. Some take this as a visual reference to the jaAm parody, but no overt reference was made.

Menasor was meant to be the ultimate Decepticon weapon, and perhaps he would have been if not for the fatal flaw in his design. His mind was designed to merge together the psyches of the five Stunticons who compose his form, but the great depth of loathing the four limb components feel towards Motormaster has created a primal psychological rift and left Menasor an unpredictable mass of conflicting, chaotic impulses. Extremely powerful, mentally unstable, and prone to violent tantrums where he lashes out at anything in range, Menasor is not a weapon to point and fire, but a raging monster to turn lose on the battlefield and then get as far away from as possible.

In all continuities, he is depicted as being the chief rival and equal of Superion. However, this makes more poetic than literal sense, as the real-life scale difference between their component vehicle parts would suggest a rather drastic disparity in actual stature.

Menasor is the combined form of all five Stunticons:

Menasor was formed for the first time to counter the new Autobot team, the Aerialbots, only to face their combined form of Superion. Menasor's sheer aggression drove the Autobot combiner back until he was trapped, only to have victory slip out of his grasp when a newly repaired Omega Supreme helped Superion defeat the Decepticon. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2

When the treacherous Starscream rampaged with his new army, Megatron requested the assistance of the Stunticons, only to be rebuffed by Motormaster. Later, Bruticus defeated Devastator, and Starscream's victory seemed imminent when the Stunticons finally turned up. At first, the rowdy bunch of cars did not care if Megatron was destroyed, but they realized Starscream would not simply stop at eliminating his former leader. Quickly, they formed Menasor, who dispatched Bruticus with one mighty punch. Starscream's Brigade

Due to Starcream's failure to stop the Aerialbots, the Stunticons were quickly sent in, and soon in the battle formed Menasor. Menasor quickly fought Superion and demonstrated a new power stolen from the Autobots: the ability to exchange any of his limbs into different combinations (despite what animation errors would like you to think). In the battle, Menasor corrupted Superion's formation by shooting one of his own limbs onto his opponent, rendering Superion vulnerable. However, he was soon stopped, and Superion regained his balance. Eventually, the Combaticons came in to help Menasor (though not willingly), forming Bruticus. The two tag-teamed against Superion, but were both stopped when Scramble City itself was brought into battle to end the conflict.
When Violen Jygar siezed command of the Decepticons, his first act was to recruit 9 Demon-Generals from Decepticon history. Menasor was selected to be one of those Generals and was given the odd rank of Intelligence General as well as new power and weaponry to make him an even greater threat than before. Menasor was sent to the Planet Feminia to wreak havoc along with Abominus and Overlord. Together, the 3 Decepticon Demon-Generals destroyed the entire planet and nearly killed Victory Saber in the process. Enter the new Supreme Commander, Dai Atlas!
At some point in Cybertron's recent history, the Stunticons were deemed psychotic and too dangerous to function in society, and as a result were placed into perpetual stasis lock inside of a prison facility. Later, in an attempt to create a diversion while he set his final plans in motion, Shockwave arranged for the release of the Stunticons. They formed into Menasor and ran amok for awhile, until Ultra Magnus arrived and began insulting them. Unable to reconcile with this, the five Stunticons began to bicker with each other over whose fault it was that they were failing, temporarily stopping Menasor and allowing Ultra Magnus to ram the combiner in the chest, forcing him to separate into his component parts and disabling the Stunticons.

:According to this Menasor's bio, he is a single entity built from the bodies of the individual Stunticons and controlled by their psychotic, permanently unified minds. Whether this same backstory applies to the Classics or Universe toys is unknown.

Unreleased toys
* Redecos of all five Stunticons were planned for Generation 2 release in 1994, but were canceled, with only a handful of test shots and production samples made. A small run of Breakdowns were released as the 1994 BotCon exclusive.

* Menasor was a planned release for the Universe line, as a redeco of the Thunder Clash mold (or, more accurately, the Machine Wars Optimus Prime retooling). It too was originally intended to be Motormaster at first, but trademark stymied that.

Trivia
* An alternate animation character sheet from the original cartoon exists for Menasor. It features all of the limbs in different orientations (the arms upside-down, the legs reversed) from the final model and the chest sports an Autobot symbol (!), suggesting, perhaps, that the Stunticon and Aerialbot toy factions may have originally been the other way around.

This model was used for the toy commercial which appeared to introduce the Stunticons and Aerialbots, though with the faction symbol corrected.
Overlord is the battlefield leader of the Decepticons during the Masterforce War, serving as the so-called "Ambassador of Destruction" under Devil Z. As the combined form of the two human Godmasters, Mega and Giga, Overlord comprises a tank and jet which can combine to form a robot mode, a heavily-equipped advance base, or a larger jet capable of space flight.

The story of Overlord begins with the mysterious alien energy-being, Devil Z, who sought to create the ultimate super-robot lifeform. Stealing a selection of Transformer Transtectors – lifeless robot bodies designed to merge with smaller robots – from a sector of space known as G Nebula 89, he scattered them across the Earth, intending for them to absorb the planet’s energies, known as Chichokon, in addition to the heavenly Tenchokon energy they had acquired from the G Nebula. Alongside the largest of the eight Transtectors brought to the planet, Devil Z slumbered deep within an ocean trench, awaiting the day that his plan could come to fruition, and human souls would bond with the Transtectors, endowing them with Jinchokon, the power of man, and giving the resultant lifeforms, the Godmasters, the power over the three primal energies of life. That day came when two human beings, a husband and wife named Giga and Mega, came into Devil Z’s service and were both bonded with the largest Transtector. The duo now controlled the dual aspects of the Transtector – Giga piloted the "Gigatank," while Mega controlled the "Megajet."

With Devil Z already having brainwashed BlackZarak, the commander of the evil Decepticons – currently engaged in battling the heroic Autobots in the depths of space – Overlord was branded as a Decepticon, ambassador to Devil Z's emperor. While Devil Z’s other agents, the Decepticon Pretenders and Headmaster Juniors, kept the small Autobot force remaining on Earth occupied, the so-dubbed "Lord Giga" and "Lady Mega" set about locating other Godmasters on Earth, finding the German brothers Hydra and Buster and recruiting them to the Decepticon side. After the two groups of Decepticons were then gathered together under Giga and Mega’s command, a race ensued between the Autobots and Decepticons to locate the remaining Godmasters, only for the Autobots to acquire three.

Incensed by this failure, Giga and Mega took matters into their own hands, taking their Transtectors into battle for the first time. Luring the Autobot command Ginrai into the desert, Giga and Mega confronted him as Overlord and immediately proved their physical superiority by thrashing him so badly that he was near death. Overlord subsequently departed into space, taking control of a weather-monitoring base on the moon in order to rendezvous with the approaching BlackZarak there. Pursued by Ginrai, now merged with the drone Godbomber as the powered-up God Ginrai, Overlord and BlackZarak battled him and the Autobot battleship Grand Maximus; refusing to follow Overlord’s instruction to return to Earth, BlackZarak ultimately met defeat and fled back into space.

Overlord later adopted his base mode for the first time to act as a staging ground for the search for the final Godmaster, and again to mastermind the assault of the Autobot base. When BlackZarak returned, Devil Z’s plans escalated to the destruction of all human life on Earth, shocking Giga and Mega; where Devil Z had come to fear the power of Jinchokon that dwelled within all human beings, the couple celebrated their humanity. Dissension grew as Devil Z fused with BlackZarak and abandoned the Headmaster Juniors in the ruins of the destroyed Decepticon base, and Buster and Hydra, believing that their inability to defeat Ginrai was the result of human limitations, were transformed into fully robotic beings through Devil Z’s power. Confronting God Ginrai for one final time, Overlord vowed to fight him without weapons, battling him only through the use of his physical strength, through the power of his human flesh. When Devil Z turned on Buster and Hydra for their own failures, however, Overlord attempted to stop him, only to be on the receiving end of the emperor’s wrath. Rescued by God Ginrai, Giga and Mega finally turned against Devil Z, but when they aided God Ginrai in combating their former master, they were struck down and forcibly separated from their Transtector, which was brought to life through Devil Z’s power. As their Masterbraces vanished from their wrists, Giga and Mega died, regretting that they could not settle their rivalry with Ginrai honourably.

With the subsequent destruction of Devil Z at God Ginrai’s hands, the now-living Overlord Transtector fled into space with the other Decepticons, and joined with the main Decepticon force in space.

Masterforce manga
Whereas the anime did not explain how Mega and Giga came to serve Devil Z, the manga strongly implied that they were a couple who had died at sea, and Devil Z, from his ocean trench resting place, recovered and reanimated their bodies. The characters are cast in much more of a "parental" role for the Headmaster Juniors than in the anime (where the idea is only dabbled with), as if to give the couple the family that they died before they had the chance to start.

Giga and Mega debuted their Transtectors in an attack on a city, only to be blindsided by God Ginrai and goaded into pursuing him out into space. BlackZarak, however, was waiting for them, but God Ginrai was able to dodge their attacks and cause them to damage each other. Indeed, Overlord was no stranger to chassis-shattering damage in the manga, at one time actually having Grand Maximus's battleship mode crash straight into his face, and being punched by God Ginrai so hard that Giga and Mega popped out of his chest.

During the final battle, the merged Devil Z-BlackZarak entity turned on Overlord and the Decepticons, who then teamed up with the Autobots to unite their energies in a final attack that destroyed him. The destruction of Devil Z caused the energy sustaining Giga and Mega to cease, and they died.

Victory Cartoon
The now-living Overlord Transtector briefly led the Decepticon army before the rise to power of Deathsaurus. Following this, Overlord commanded the Sector Two Decepticon force, based in the G Nebula, where they battled the Autobots under the command of his old foe, God Ginrai.

: Consisting of the Megajet, Gigatank and a slew of accessories, Overlord transforms like any Powermaster, in that he is only able to do so when Giga and Mega are fixed in place. Inserting Giga into the tank splits it in half to form his legs, while attaching Mega unlocks his shoulder articulation for robot mode, and his fold-out launchpad for base mode. His instructions do not feature the additional large jet mode, which was created by the production staff of the animated series, but it is possible to put the toy in this form. There is no one mode that uses all of Overlord's separate pieces.

: Initially exclusive to Japan, Overlord's toy was later released in Europe, Australia and New Zealand with the character re-imagined as a Powermaster, bonded to nameles "Energon mini-figures." Logically, it can be assumed that this toy represents a different character than the Japanese Mega-Giga-Overlord (just as, for example, Cab is a different character from Hosehead). Interestingly, though, his on-package bio includes a line which, apropos of nothing, notes that he has the ability to "traverse the dimensions." This perhaps could be the wholly-robotic Overlord who exists post-Masterforce, having travelled from his home universe into the world of this late-run UK/EU/AU/NZ toyline.

Merchandise
A PVC figure of Overlord was part of the fifth act of Takara's Super Collection Figure series. It was later released in the fourth wave of Hasbro's Heroes of Cybertron, reimagined as a Powermaster named Gigatron.
Sari's new musical toy robot seems to have an evil streak and the ability to control other machines, but Bulkhead is the only one who sees it.

Synopsis
Bulkhead takes Sari toy shopping for her birthday (or "construction day" as he terms it), to purchase her something that makes the loud music she loves so much. The two of them are attacked by Professor Princess, who is on a crusade to destroy violent toys. They are able to defeat the bizarre villainess only after Sari uses the power of her Key to trigger a powerful sonic attack from the stereo systems in the toystore. Megatron, monitoring events via security cameras as usual, notices both the power of the Key and the frivolous ways in which Sari employs it. He designs a new robot for Sari, and tricks Dr. Sumdac into allowing him to produce it.

Sari's birthday party isn't much fun: she has no real friends, the only attendees being the children of Sumdac Systems employees, who continue to be put off by her bad manners. When the Autobots arrive to help celebrate, the kids are quite happy to go play with the giant robots and leave the weird girl behind. Bulkhead tries to present Sari with his gift for her, a xylophone (awwww!), but Dr. Sumdac steps in first and gives her the "toy" designed by himself and Megatron: a responsive, interactive, dancing music-and-lightshow robot, known as Soundwave. It's hard for Bulkhead to compete with that. As days go on, Sari pays less attention to Bulkhead and far more to Soundwave. When, inevitably, she starts to grow bored with her new toy, she uses her Key on it. Each dosage of the Key's power unlocks new features on Soundwave, making his musical lightshow more involved and impressive, and even more fun than plain ol' Bulkhead and the Autobots.

This had been Megatron's plan all along. Soundwave's systems were designed to grow and evolve when exposed to the Key; eventually, Sari would unwittingly upgrade him into a suitable body for Megatron himself. Bulkhead begins to see signs of Soundwave's evolving nature--did that thing just move by itself?--but no one believes him. Megatron successfully uses Soundwave's weaponry and voice-cloaking systems to make both Sari and the Autobots think Bulkhead is erratic, jealous, and dishonest.

Soundwave's musical transmissions soon become powerful enough to control other Sumdac Systems automatons... which are pretty much everywhere. But even Megatron himself is taken by surprise when, after sufficient doses of AllSpark energy via the Key, Soundwave's mind grows fully self-aware and his body becomes enhanced with Cybertronian upgrades. Neither Megatron nor Sari can control Soundwave anymore. As he explores Detroit, he is puzzled and angry to see machines like himself forced into servitude for humans; he finds this illogical and believes it should be the other way around. Megatron reveals himself to Soundwave, rather straightforwardly telling him of the Decepticon goals of conquest and machine supremacy, and their hatred for the treasonous Autobots who value organic life. Soundwave compels hundreds of smaller automatons to merge with him, constructing a new transforming body for himself and proclaiming himself to be a Decepticon. He commences "Operation Recruitment," using his sonic signals to turn all the automatons against both Autobots and humanity. The Autobots attempt to track down Soundwave, but they are overwhelmed by his minions and flustered by his ability to forge deceptive messages on their own communication systems. Bulkhead manages to come face-to-face with Soundwave, but even the largest Autobot is swatted down by Soundwave's concussive sonic attacks. Soundwave attempts to convince Bulkhead of the rightness of the machine cause and the inferiority of humanity, and orders him to destroy Sari. Bulkhead plays along for a few moments, but it's all a trick: as soon as he gets within range, he clobbers Soundwave, who shatters into thousands of tiny scraps of his automaton pieces.

The crisis averted, Bulkhead and Sari strengthen their friendship over some (quiet) music. Megatron fumes in disgust at their victory, swearing again to reconstruct himself. And far beneath the city, the last intact piece of Soundwave flickers back into activation....
Soundwave was a robot designed by Megatron that initially transformed into a tapedeck.
He was originally designed as a prototype for Megatron's new body, but quickly became something else altogether, thanks to the All Spark's upgrades. His arsenal of weapons and gadgets is unusually large, and includes powerful speakers, wiretaps, voice modulators, sonic signals that control lesser robots, and the uncanny ability to assimilate other devices into his body. Additionally, Soundwave concluded that machines should be the masters of the world, and humans would be an ideal slave force. Megatron decided that if he couldn't be a new body, he would be a new soldier. He contacted Soundwave and convinced him to join the Decepticons, take control of the machines in Detroit, and steal Sari's key. The revolution of the new robot overlords was countered by the Autobots. When Bulkhead came to rescue Sari, Soundwave appealed to Bulkhead to join the revolution. Bulkhead acted as if he was about to kill Sari...then used his wrecking ball to shatter Soundwave. The Machines were restored to their normal operational status, and the day was saved.
