There's such an AWESOME buried assumption in a section called 'Known Faction Symbols.' This whole idea that there are UNKNOWN faction symbols too. I don't feel the Transtech faction symbols belong here. The line never happened. The events after BM have been well established- Transtech was not it. TFU stupidity aside- they are not all Autobots and Decepticons now.

And I have to ask- there was an Arachnoid faction-symbol?

I think it's fine to include them, just with an info note that they're unused.

Speaking of rare symbols I really want the 5 Predacon symbols from IDW Beast Wars to be up here too, but should they go under BW PRedacon or be their own thing?

Also there should be pics of both the regular Con symbol and the three-pointed Cartoon version.

Do we want to include pics of the diffrent variations of the faction cymbols that appeared on the toy packageing? I have the symbols from the top of the old Tech Spec archive saved on my PC and found images for the Blendtron and Commando symbols. I'd like both, frankly. My source for the G2 Autobot is distressingly low-resolution (I consider anythign under 400px wide low reolution) and I'm not entiely sure my blendtron synbol is 100% right. The G2 Decepticon symbol looks nothing whatsoever like Clench besides sharing that diamond-shaped forehead crest, and it's missing arguably the most distinguishing feature of Clench's face - the triangular (point-up) mouthplate. In my opinion, the G2 symbol is clearly a stylized version of the G1 Decepticon symbol. Similarly, there is essentially no similarity between the G2 Autobot symbol and Pyro - the G2 Autobot symbol couldn't much more clearly be Optimus Prime.

Also, why is the CR Combatron insignia under "Beast Era"? `[[User:LV|LV]] 17:50, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

I'd need to go back to my G2 issues to check, but I question the validity of suggesting that the G2 Decepticon and Cybertronian symbols are any different. (The only distinction shown here is color, anyway) I also question the simplified versions of the symbols used in the cartoon as "symbols" in their own right, but it seems that I've already been outvoted on that count. The only thing I ''would'' ask for is some source text, especially for the more obscure symbols. William (or Irving, possibly William Irving or Irving William) "Sparkplug" Witwicky was a Sergeant in the US Marines. Apparently he spent some time as a prisoner of war in Korea.

He has an indeterminate number of sons ([[Spike Witwicky|Spike]], [[Buster Witwicky|Buster]] and "[[Butch Witwicky|Butch]]") which varies depending on the continuity. No mention ever seems to be made of him ever having had a wife.

==Generation One Animated Continuity==
When we first meet Sparkplug, both he and Spike seem to be oil rig workers. The rig is destroyed in the cartoon episode "More than Meets the Eye," but we never see evidence that either of them has (or needs?) a job ever again.

==Marvel Comics Continuity==
William "Sparkplug" Witwicky was a Sergeant in the US Marines. He was a P.O.W. during the Korean War, where he was forced to repair the Koreans' equipment. However, he secretly sabotaged that same equipment, leading to personnel and materiel losses for the North Koreans. He is a mechanic, and owned his own service station, until it was destroyed by Ratbat and the Predacons. It is never established whether or not he rebuilds the station.

Sparkplug suffers a heart attack as a result of the Autobots in [[The Final Battle]], and is much less friendly with them than in the cartoon.

Note that in some issues, Sparkplug identifies himself as William Witwicky, and in others, he identifies himself as Irving Witwicky. The most likely answer here is that his full name is William Irving Witwicky (or Irving William Witwicky).

In the Dreamwave Comics continuity, Sparkplug has been dead for several years. He was one of the humans chosen to accompany the Autobots back to Cybertron, but was presumed dead when the [[Ark II]] exploded.

As of February 2006, this is the current Transformers animated series, ''Cybertron''. US continuity has connected this series to the ''[[Armada]]''-''[[Energon (series)|Energon]]'' continuity, but the series is based off of the Japanese ''[[Galaxy Force]]'', which is intended as a continuity reboot. The series premiered in the United States in July 2005.
