In the year 2011, the Decepticons are back, and they've got added power in the form of the newest addition to the Transformers' war - Headmasters!

*English/Malay dub name: The Four Soldiers from the Sky
*R2 DVD name: Four Warriors from Outer Space

Detailed synopsis
On Cybertron in the year 2011, the space bridge suddenly reactivates, and Galvatron leads a force of Decepticons - including mysterious new recruits Weirdwolf, Skullcruncher and Mindwipe - in an attack against the unsuspecting Autobots. Caught unawares, the Autobots contact Optimus Prime and the Autobots in their secondary headquarters on the planet Athenia, and Prime leads troops to aid in the battle on Cybertron. Hound theorises that the loss of the Matrix's energy has destabilised Vector Sigma and Spike deduces that the Decepticons have targeted the computer, intending to take control it, and through it, the planet.

Meanwhile, on Earth, the Autobots under Ultra Magnus's command have received orders to join the conflict on Cybertron, but their way to the space bridge is barred by a Decepticon contingent led by Sixshot, and he and Magnus square off. At the same time, Wheelie and Daniel are pursued by Trypticon and manage to escape by tricking him into falling down a ravine. The arrival of the Trainbots tips things in the Autobots' favor, and they break off the fight to head for Autobot City; the pursuing Decepticons are dispatched by Metroplex, and the troops are carried through the space bridge aboard the Trainbots, while Wheelie and Daniel stowed away.

As the battle escalates and conditions worsen on Cybertron, Kup is reminded of the early days of the war when many Autobots fled the planet to escape the conflict. As if on cue, a mysterious light appears in the sky, approaching Cybertron - a light that Blurr soon realises is not a star, but a starship! As the Decepticons approach their goal, demolishing the Autobots that stand in their way thanks to Mindwipe's sleep-inducing hypnosis power, this ship appears in the skies over Cybertron, and four new warriors soar out to bar their advance - Chromedome, Hardhead, Brainstorm and Highbrow!
Other notes
Animation and/or technical glitches
*When the Decepticons emerge from the space bridge at the start of the episode, Hun-Gurrr is missing from the Terrorcons, Swindle is missing from the Combaticons and both Divebomb and Headstrong are missing from the Predacons. The two Predacons reappear later on, but the others don't, and Rippersnapper actually gives out orders to the team.
*Similarly, when the Technobots appear, Strafe is missing, but when the angle switches, Scattershot has disappeared, and Strafe is in his place (just as Lightspeed issues orders to the team!).
*Perhaps in an attempt to outdo his brother, Sideswipe is seen on both Athenia and Earth.

Continuity errors
*Although he does not speak, Prowl appears quite prominently in a few scenes, despite his death in The Transformers: The Movie. The fact that the movie had not yet been released in Japan at this point is often cited as a reason for this, but Prowl's name was included on the list of dead Autobots in the Japanese dub of Dark Awakening, so they did know. The Binaltech storyline seemed like it was going to explain this, but got shunted off into it's own alternate reality when it ended.
*Blitzwing is shown with the Decepticons, but he was banished from their ranks in Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5. This previously occurred in The Ultimate Weapon, and it will not be the last time that this occurs in The Headmasters.

Transformers references
*This episode occurs a year after the The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2 (which takes place in 2010 in Japanese continuity, compared to America's 2006), taking the place of The Rebirth, Part 1 for this continuity.
*Athenia previously appeared in Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1, but it has been seriously re-worked since then.
*The energy of the Matrix was released in The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2.
*The concept of Autobots fleeing Cybertron to escape the war was established in Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2, and revisited in Fight or Flee.
*Up to this point, the space bridge has been the province of the Decepticons alone, but this episode establishes that the Autobots have now created their own network, linking Autobot City on Earth to Cybertron and Athenia.

Miscellaneous trivia
*This episode has been released on DVD quite a few times in the United Kingdom. The "Star TV dub" version was included on Maverick's release of The Transformers: The Movie to promote the company's upcoming release of it, and five further episodes of the series on a single disc (all in StarTV dub format). This version of the episode was also included on Metrodome's Season 2, Part 2 DVD box set. Metrodome then included an original Japanese language version with subtitles on The Transformers: The Movie - Reconstructed, as promotion for their dual-language boxset release of the entire series. This version of the episode is missing the opening montage.

MOST OF THE INFORMATIONS POSTED HERE ARE JUST TRASH!

Floro Dery was the design supervisor for the original cartoon. He was also responsible for simplifying many of the original designs down to the eventual character models.

He has also taken credit for fully designing many of the elements of the series, including all the human characters and incidental robots. He has further claimed to have been the originator of the idea of a transforming planet, despite early Japanese concept sketches which precede his involvement. Many of his claims have been met by skepticism among the online fandom thanks to his own contradicting interviews throughout the years.

Floro Dery is very fond of his 1986 movie designs, especially Hot Rod and Gnaw (though even Dery doesn't like Wheelie, and he designed the guy). In fact, if he hadn't drawn the movie characters more humanoid than their boxy predecessors, then "the Transformers by now would be a has been already like the Go-bots." Sadly, though, nothing excites him anymore except the coming Armageddon.

Participation in the modern fandom
Dery is fairly infamous in the fandom for the outlandish and often very egocentric claims he has made in various interviews down the years. Although it can't be proven, stricly speaking, there's a wealth of evidence suggesting that for years, he searched out Transformers forums and messageboards for mentions of himself and his work, then posted under various aliases (often claiming to be one his "associates") to inflate his own legend and verbally attack fan and foe alike for daring to criticize him, or suggesting that someone other than Dery designed something in the show.

The first such instance occurred on alt.toys.transformers in 2002 , which was a fairly civil series of posts, even if the rampant egomania was clearly in evidence from the outset. Later, he basically repeated the same post to correct the long-standing misconception that Marvel artist John Romita had been responsible for designing the animation models. Following Zobovor's interview with Dery, however, which caused many to comment on Dery's self-centred eccentricities, the civility level began to drop as more posts from "kuest144" were made claiming that any critics of Dery were "jealous" and that he was so envied that it had led to "harassment". Not to worry, thoughm-Marvel had specially set it up so he could work at home to avoid encountering these vicious haters! It was at this point that Rik Bakke pointed out that the screename was (and indeed, still is) the same as one of Dery's homepage accounts. A quick perusal of the Google Groups archive quickly reveals that every other post made by kuest144 either relates to Floro Dery or is to a Filipino newsgroup.
Perhaps the most public case was that of "Ote," a poster who briefly appeared on The Allspark to decry any critics of Dery's as "racists". Only a small archive of this hilarious series of interactions has been preserved, but "Ote" was firmly silenced when everyone pointed out that one of the most popular Transformers artists around, Don Figueroa, is also Filipino.

And then, of course, there's the possible case in evidence on this very wiki.

The writing style and mannerisms evident in these assorted tirades, including the assorted howls at being insulted, the claims that clear arguments against him somehow prove his point, and the general unhalting stupidity of the whole affair, makes it pretty clear that they're all the work of the same person, and they're immensely similar to Dery's own pontifications as seen in his interviews m- so if it isn't him, then he has got one majorly rabid fan running around.

:Sunstreaker is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Sunstreaker knows to his core of his spark that he is better than any other Autobot, and he makes sure everyone else knows it, too. His sociopathic tendencies, combined with his incredible vanity and arrogance, usually result in tension between himself and the other Autobots. He is generally unwilling to help those who are having trouble keeping up, and is quite audible when it comes to complaining about the shortcomings of everyone else. The only Autobot he truly gets along with is his twin brother, Sideswipe, and even that can seem strained at times.

The main reason Optimus Prime keeps him around is most likely Sunstreaker's effectiveness in the battlefield. Ruthless and skilled in all forms of combat, there is not much Sunstreaker cannot handle. As a front-line warrior, Sunstreaker is a great asset for the Autobot army. If a rather scary one.

Prior to the outbreak of Cybertron's planet-wide civil war, Sunstreaker was a gladiator in the State Games.

Sunstreaker was among the crew of the Ark that crashed on Earth four million years ago and woke up in 1984.

In the first few days on Earth, Sunstreaker diverted an attack by Thundercracker and Skywarp towards a human civilization so as to keep himself from harm. Perchance to Dream

When Shockwave took control over the Decepticons and possession of the Ark, he destroyed Sunstreaker's body as a demonstration and warning to the deposed Megatron. The New Order Because of this, Sunstreaker's body was in disrepair for a very long time, and at one point, when G.B. Blackrock asks about him in the med bay; Jazz tells him that Ratchet isn't even sure if Sunstreaker will ever be operational again. The Next Best Thing to Being There!

(Note: This rendering of his body appears to have occurred in a panel on page 9 of US issue #5, but the coloring is completely wrong for Sunstreaker. However, given Sunstreaker's absence in the scene on page 4 of US issue #9, which is meant to include all the Autobots, and Yomtov's penchant for completely botching the colors, it seems reasonable that Sunstreaker is the Autobot which Shockwave destroyed. Issue 10 shows him still in repair. The 1986 Marvel UK annual also listed his status as "injured; little possibility of revival.")

However, Sunstreaker was fully repaired in time to view the duel between Blaster and Grimlock on the moon. Totaled! The subsequent massive battle with the Decepticons apparently left him badly damaged once more, as he wound up in stasis aboard the Ark again, to be revived by Nucleon in 1990, when he and the other newly revived Autobots joined the attack on Unicron. On the Edge of Extinction! Surprisingly, he survived that battle as he was able to attend the first meeting of the shaky Autobot-Decepticon alliance. Exodus! (issue)

Earthforce
(Note: These stories do not fit into the normal Marvel UK continuity. See Earthforce for details.)

Early into the Autobot-Decepticon war, Sunstreaker was a member of the Magnificent Six. While they were on a mission to the Stanix region of Cybertron, he made a remarkably callous joke that convinced their allies to turn them over to the Decepticons. The entire unit was tortured for a week, and Stampede was killed. Nice. The Magnificent Six!

An injured Sunstreaker, along with several other Autobots, was awakened not by Nucleon, but by Galvatron's Dream-Inducing Bug. Galvatron had studied their dreams in the aim of finding dissenting members of the Autobots that he hoped to put into his own employ, but after a short skirmish, Galvatron's device was placed on himself. Sunstreaker and the others would go on to join the Earthforce unit.

Later, Sunstreaker was sent on a new mission to the Stanix region of Cybertron with Silverbolt, Prowl, Wheeljack, Jazz, and Inferno by Optimus Prime. While there, he overcame the ghosts of the past and helped defeat the mad Decepticon Megadeath. Of course, he was the only member of the team that didn't seem particularly haunted by those events in the first place, but the others overcame them, and wasn't that nice for them? The Magnificent Six!
:Voice Actor: Corey Burton (US), Kenyu Horiuchi (Japan)

Sunstreaker was part of the original crew of Autobots aboard the Ark that crashed on Earth four million years ago. When reawakened in 1984, he and his brother Sideswipe were reformatted into Lamborghini sports cars. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker often operated together.

When Chip Chase was kidnapped by the Decepticons and brought to the recently conquered antimatter laboratory of Dr. Alcazar, the Autobots successfully staged a rescue operation to get him back. Sunstreaker then led a second team of Autobots into the lab, declaring that they had to get the antimatter cubes before it was too late, smashing a Sunstreaker-shaped hole in the wall. Unfortunately, he and the other Autobots were damaged when Megatron threw an antimatter cube at them. After returning to the Ark, Sunstreaker was heard to complain about a 'very sensitive junction' in his elbow, but was soon repaired quickly enough to arm wrestle with Sideswipe. When the antimatter-fueled Decepticons attacked the Ark, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker took to the air to battle with the incoming Seeker jets, in a rambunctious m- if ultimately ineffective m- display of "jet judo." After the Decepticons were defeated, Sunstreaker congratulated Chip, declaring him a hero and gave him a ride on his shoulder. Roll For It

Sunstreaker was one of several Autobots who glommed onto Hoist's job as a Hollywood extra in the hopes of becoming a movie star. This mainly resulted in him wearing a ridiculous alien mask and spouting out stilted, wooden dialog. Hoist Goes Hollywood

Before the Decepticon attack on Autobot City, Sunstreaker was helping Kup move a roadblock. He was knocked over when Hot Rod and Daniel Witwicky drove through it.

Meanwhile, he was also on Moon Base One and helped pilot the shuttle that flew Optimus Prime and the Dinobots to Autobot City.

Seriously. He's THAT good. The Transformers: The Movie

After the Pax Cybertronia, Sunstreaker left Cybertron with four other survivors of the Great War (Sideswipe, Roulette, Shadow Striker, and Trailbreaker). One year after Cybertron was reformatted into a technorganic planet, they returned. They were greeted by many of the Maximal and Predacon inhabitants and with vast media coverage.

However, what appeared to be celebratory fireworks struck the five Autobots and also the Maximals Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. They were transported to a fiery cauldron deep within Unicron, where all but Trailbreaker were rebuilt painfully into new bodies.

Seeing an arena up ahead, the seven moved towards it, only to be attacked by a swarm of shape-shifting, lava-like creatures. Sunstreaker and the others were overwhelmed and taken into the arena (or, the Cauldron), where they were caged along with a multitude of Transformers kidnapped from across the multiverse.

The Unicron-influenced ambiance of the place was slowly driving the more violent of the group mad. This, of course, included Sunstreaker. He and Sideswipe were forced into combat in the arena (each wielding spiffy Energon weapons), but were rescued by a reborn Optimus Primal. The group, sans a corrupted Blackarachnia and Shadow Striker, fled back to Cybertron.
Binaltech
Sunstreaker was mentioned as present at the Earth Defense Command Antarctic base, shortly after the Protector's spark manipulated the timelines. It was not made clear whether he was a Binaltech warrior or one of the few Autobots who avoided the Cosmic Rust infection.

Sunstreaker is a member of the Cybertron (Autobot) Race Team, which may or may not have any other Transformers on it. He's sort of a mascot for them, and the team doesn't actually use him in races. He resents that people pay more attention to him as a promotional image than as a race car.

Sunstreaker is partnered with m- for unknown reasons m- the human "race queen" model Junko Shiragami, and acts as her car. Once, Sunstreaker got into a race with a human-driven sports car, much to Junko's dismay. He used his transformation ability to take a particularly sharp curve, destroying a road sign in the process, for which Junko chewed him out.

It is said that Sunstreaker drives faster when he smells Junko's marigold-scented hair. Make of that what you will.

Sunstreaker was part of Operation Liberation in 1998, a joint human-Autobot effort to defeat the Earth-bounded Decepticons. At the end it was a success, and the captured Decepticons, along with the Autobots and a human crew, departed Earth en route to Cybertron in the Ark II. The ship, however, was sabotaged and exploded upon liftoff.

A few years later Megatron and other Transformers, including Autobots, were seen causing havoc. It was discovered that Lazarus, a scientist who participated in the Ark II project, was responsible for the sabotage of the Ark II and the resurrection of several Transformers under his control via technological tampering. Prime Directive issue 1

General Hallo of the U.S. Military contacted Spike Witwicky to ask him if he could do something to help them reactivate Optimus Prime, whom they had recovered locked in a state of stasis. Spike managed to reactivate Optimus with a portion of the Matrix that Optimus had given him prior the ill-fated journey of the Ark II. Optimus subsequently went to the Arctic and used the Matrix to reactivate several Transformers, including Sunstreaker and his brother Sideswipe. Prime Directive issue 2

Sunstreaker accepted the new task at hand and fought alongside his brother when the Autobots faced the Decepticons at Lazarus' ruined base, before Hallo betrayed the Autobots by attempting to destroy both factions with a nuclear weapon. Prime Directive issue 3 The Autobots survived when Megatron's technovirus absorbed the blast, and Sunstreaker helped his comrades recover the captive Autobots imprisoned inside the base. Prime Directive issue 4

As Jazz's unit worked on Megatron's virus, Sunstreaker followed Optimus Prime to San Francisco for the last battle against Megatron and his Decepticons. When Superion was taken down, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe heroically (though foolishly) charged at Devastator; they where smashed between the giant Constructicon's palms for their trouble. After Optimus Prime destroyed Devastator's head, Sunstreaker was restrained by the surviving Decepticons. Prime Directive issue 5 However, through human intervention, Optimus Prime freed his Autobots and the battle was rejoined. Sunstreaker tag-teamed with his brother to pummel Soundwave, though the Decepticons eventually escaped when Superion sacrificed his life to save the city from General Hallo's unauthorized nuclear missile launch. After Optimus Prime came back online, Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker discovered the traitorous Grimlock buried under rubble. Prime Directive issue 6

When Ultra Magnus arrived on Earth to enforce Shockwave's edict that the Earth-bound Autobots surrender themselves to the Cybertronian alliance, Optimus Prime ordered a portion of his troops into hiding in Portland, Oregon. This group, led by Jazz, included Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Ratchet, Brawn, Wheeljack, and Windcharger. However, Starscream, Soundwave, and his cassettes soon escaped to Earth with Bruticus. Attacking the Ark, they defeated all of Jazz's group minus Ratchet and Brawn. Sunstreaker and the others were left in a swamp, deactivated.

A ship crewed by Minibots (led by Bumblebee) arrived on Earth with supplies, and Warpath and Bumper pulled the deactivated from their would-be swampy grave. They were promptly arrested by Commander Marissa Faireborn of the Earth Defense Command and her armored troops. The damaged were repaired.

Commander Faireborn came to Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, and Jazz with a mission. The American city of San Desto was under attack by Cybertronian creatures.

(Note: Long after Dreamwave closed, Matt Moylan revealed that their version of Sunstreaker was intended to be gay fact, though this specific facet of his character didn't seem to be made apparent in any fiction.)

IDW comics continuity
Long ago, before the war, Sunstreaker was a patron of illegal underground deathmatches in the Forge. where he cheered on Megatron in his first victory there. He returned several times more, including to watch Megatron's 54th battle in the arena, this time apparently alongside his brother, Sideswipe. Megatron Origin issue 2

When Megatron, rising in power and influence, put on a recruitment call to all-comers, Sunstreaker happily answered his call. Sideswipe tried to talk him out of joining the fights, to no avail. Sunstreaker apparently thought the call was for participation in the illegal gladiatorial games, but it was actually the first recruitment call for the Decepticon army. How they took Megatron's announcement, the apparent murder of a Senator, and how they faired when Autobot security forces raided the meeting is unknown. Megatron Origin issue 3 Neither he, nor any of the other Autobots-to-be that were present at the "rally", were seen again in prison or upon the Decepticons' escape and ravaging of Kaon. Megatron Origin issue 4

After that, Sunstreaker's history is spotty, but we know he was one of many Autobots trained by Kup. Spotlight: Kup The next time Sunstreaker is seen is the modern day, where he serves is part of a detachment of Autobots that has operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency. His attitude is about as superior as his original incarnation, dismissing the three humans Ratchet saves as "noisy creatures".

ongoing
Sunstreaker, along with Ironhide was assigned the task of escorting the noisy creatures back to the big wild world, Tulsa, Oklahoma. On a road in the vicinity of Lebanon, Missouri, Sunstreaker and company were ambushed by the Machination. He and his passenger Hunter O'Nion became separated from Ironhide and seemingly destroyed. It was soon revealed that it was not the case, the debris recovered by Optimus Prime was revealed by Ratchet to be an elaborate fake.

After re-awakening in a Machination stronghold, Hunter was horrified to find an unidentified being, possibly Cybertronian, had been creating a series of Sunstreaker "clones." Escalation issue 6

Having been able to dupe the Machination into believing that he was catatonic, Hunter went exploring their headquarters. Eventually, he discovered Sunstreaker's own decapitated head, which was still functioning. Tortured, Sunstreaker begged the fleshling to kill him. Meanwhile, Hot Rod and Wheeljack ran afoul of the Sunstreaker clones... piloted by Headmasters, humans who could transform into robot heads. Devastation issue 2 It turned out all of the Headmasters are connected to the original Sunstreaker and are leeching knowledge from him, a process that is extremely painful. (This had its disadvantage m- Sunstreaker doesn't read Autobot memos so the Machination have less inside knowledge than they think; Hot Rod and Wheeljack escaped by using a weapon that Sunstreaker didn't know about) Hunter, rather than kill the Autobot, asked for his help to learn how to be a Headmaster so he could pilot one of the Machination's spare clones. Devastation issue 3
The Diaclone version was originally painted only in red or police deco; this is one of several items that have led to the fan speculation that Sunstreaker and Sideswipe's coloration and bio text were swapped around before their final release (another being that, in his bio, Sunstreaker feels that Sideswipe's car-mode lines are ruined by his rear-mounted engine, when in fact Sunstreaker is the one with said engine.) The statistics, however, are correct.

: In 1986, he was made available as a mail-away item (as he was no longer shipping to retail shelves), several different promotions, among them a Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction flier packed with most boxed Transformers toys. He cost $8 and two robot points.

: Sunstreaker is generally considered to be one of the early Generation 1 toys harder to find complete and unbroken. There also appears to be little chance of a reissue of the toy, as this mold has been stated by Hasbro and Takara representatives to be one of several whose original molding has been either lost or in a state of disrepair too extensive to justify the cost of re-casting.

: Sunstreaker's only release in Japan was in the VS-Z set, along with Buzzsaw and Skids.
: A retool of the Robots in Disguise Prowl mold, Sunstreaker was the "hotel exclusive" toy from OTFCC 2003, available only to those who booked their room at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare at the convention rate, the official hotel for the convention.

: It is notable that the part that connects the toy's windshield to the main body uses a yellow decal rather than paint, as that part is made out of unpaintable plastic. The police lights from the original mold were removed, leaving this area bare.

: This mold is also used by Sideswipe and Inferno.

: In 2005, Takara and Hasbro released near-simultaneous and similar, but significantly different takes on Sunstreaker. The first to the market was the Binaltech Asterisk version of the toy, including with a PVC driver figurine, a girl named Junko. A redeco of the Dead End Alternator, Sunstreaker transforms into a 1:24-scale "street performance" Dodge Viper with opening doors and hood, and an open passengers' compartment. His engine block becomes a rifle for his robot mode. Like the rest of the Binaltech Asterisk line, he was packaged in robot mode instead of vehicle.

: A few months later, the Hasbro Alternators version was released as part of the standard Alternators line, in the redesigned "bubble" packaging (the third version of Alternators packaging). Though both are yellow redecos of the mold, the detailing between the two is very different, with the Hasbro version being a direct color-swap of the paint mask previously used for Dead End, adding red to the robot-mode parts as well as a pair of black racing stripes in car mode. Drastically put, the only two details virtually identical on both versions at first sight are the paint mask for the head and the license plate layout.

Trivia
* In the Transformers series bible entry for his brother Sideswipe, Sunstreaker is referred to by a different name, Spinout . "Nearly the equal of his twin brother, Spinout, in combat, but less cold-blooded."

* Alternators Sunstreaker was originally planned as the first retool of the Side Swipe Dodge Viper toy. Early prototypes that were leaked to the public sported a sculpted Autobot logo, and development concept art and color maps detailed in the Transformers: Binaltech & TF Collection Complete Guide show a black-decoed figure, labelled as "Blackstreaker". This suggests he was still intended to be Sunstreaker but, like Tracks, Meister and Prowl, sporting the manufacturer's preferred coloring. A listing for "Blackstreaker" even appeared for a short time in the Wal-Mart computers. For reasons unknown, however, the toy was ultimately released as the Decepticon Dead End instead, possibly to satisfy fan demands for Decepticons in the line, but this is mere supposition. It took a couple of years until Sunstreaker would see shelves as originally intended.
* A model of Buzzsaw's helicopter form appears in the final leg of the Planet Cup race on Velocitron as an announcer. However, it is excessively unlikely that this is Buzzsaw, and just someone who happens to look like him, a not uncommon occurrence in Transformerdom.

* Buzzsaw's Cyber Planet Key info claims he named himself after the Beast Wars hero of the same name, and that his new head is patterned after his. This means either that some version of the Beast Wars occured in Unicron Trilogy continuity where Buzzsaw was present (which becomes more and more likely with the repaints of BWX Optimus Primal and Megatron in the later stages of the line--even if their tech specs do not mesh with this theory--as well as all universes supposedly merging into one) or that Buzzsaw's Key info isn't canon (Which is far more likely. It's possible that the entry was merely to inform younger fans of an homage to a previous series.)
Cybertron
Eons ago, reportedly Crosswise captured and imprisoned lots of Decepticon "monsters" in a crazy egg-cave-place on Earth. He did this becaues he's a MONSTER HUNTER!

He was subsequently entombed in ice himself, till some humans freed him.

Crosswise' first thought on being de-iced was frantic concern over his imprisoned "monsters", and so he rushed to the prison site to check on them. It turned out that the hundreds of Decepticons had stayed put quite nicely... until Starscream found the prison by following the oblivious Crosswise, and promptly liberated all the prisoners to serve as his personal army.
Stick a Cyber Planet Key in his tailgate and a pair of missile racks pop up, astonishing! This feature also functions in his robot mode, and is great for parties. Two more guns are molded into his inner running boards, and can be deployed beside his hips, or just left to drag behind and get dirt-fouled.
You know Wikipedia encourages such out-sourcing, right? you can set it up an article to live-mirror an article on another wiki? (I think it checks for changes every 24 hours or so.) Legally speaking it's aboveboard- content on other wiki's is public domain. (you know, assumign they didn't just C&P from a non-pd source.)

Or is it just a point of policy on this wiki that other wikis may mirror our content, but everything ON HERE originates centrally? -150.253.70.55 21:16, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

The latter, really. Especially since this wiki would be more expansive on just about any subject of TFs than the main Wikipedia. Plus, it does discourage C&Ping from non-public-domain stuff.<br>
You pretty much nailed it with the second part, 150.253.70.55. We can legally use Wikipedia's content... but this isn't Wikipedia, and hopefully, we'd like to have articles on this wiki end up being different from ones you'd find there. Wikipedia, as much as it's wonderful, has a very different perspective on TF things than we do here; and not only does it just reflect better on our part if our content is original, but it actually provides a far more useful resource. If someone wants to look at what Wikipedia says about a given subject, then let them go to Wikipedia.

Although as just a side note, Wikipedia or this Wiki aren't public domain: they're released under GFDL, which basically sums up to "you can do whatever you want with it, so long as you let others do the same, and give credit". It's not quite just semantics, since if we wanted to copy Wikipedia content (WE DON'T), it'd have to be credited as such.--Suki Brits 21:29, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

...and because it means we give up any control on derived work created by someone usign TT1 content. (I wasn't disagreeing w/ the idea that everything originate on this wiki, merely seeking if this was actual policy or a lack of understanding of the possible relationships involved, legally and technicly.) -150.253.70.55 22:32, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
So it's not "our" work any more than we're "making" the "beginner" do all the work. It's just that at this wiki we feel it is wasted effort when we have to fix the mistakes of someone who is plainly not expending the effort to put things into the proper format, use complete sentences, or even use more than one sentence in most cases. Better to leave a summary blank than to put out a halfassed article that looks like the dog's breakfast.

:If these summaries are important to you, then show us that you're not lazy before asking us to invest more effort or help you out.--Rosicrucian 23:28, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Galvatron

:Galvatron is a Decepticon from an alternate Generation 1 future.

Galvatron was Megatron reborn in the fires of Unicron. In an alternate timeline, Unicron consumed Cybertron and Galvatron was given Earth to rule. It is the year 2009, and only a handful of Autobots remain -- even their leader, Rodimus Prime, has fallen. What chance, then, do the rest of us have?

Fiction
Marvel Comics continuity
Galvatron originally controlled the Americas in an alternate 2009 where Unicron had been victorious in his attack on Cybertron. He knew that the other countries of Earth were planning a nuclear strike against the force-field with which he barricaded the continents. He thought that his shield could withstand, and absorb, the energy of the attack. This Galvatron was quite mad in his home time - he lethally punished his close lieutenant Cyclonus, and continued to 'kill' a long-dead Rodimus Prime whose remains he'd strung up on what was left of the World Trade Center.

Before he could make good his plans for nuclear energy, though, he was snatched through time to 1991 by Hook, Line, and Sinker, who were working for a Unicron who 'may or may not become' the one who created him. This Unicron tried to use him as a soldier in his own attack on Cybertron, but Galvatron quickly turned against him. He assisted Emirate Xaaron in his attempts to awaken Primus; Unicron sent Hook, Line and Sinker to eliminate Galvatron, but he easily destroyed the trio.

After Unicron's destruction, a group of Decepticons hijacked the Ark, and Galvatron stowed away on board. He then fought against and subsequently allied with this era's Megatron, teaming up with him to destroy Shockwave before the Ark crashed on Earth. Now driven completely mad, he wreaked havoc until he was defeated by Fortress Maximus. He hasn't been seen since Maximus threw him into a frozen lake.(Completely unintentionally mirroring Galvatron's fate in Japanese Headmasters animated series).

Japanese THS mini-comics
Galvatron II menaced Ultra Magnus (in his Laser Rod body) with his personal Warworld.

Magnus put up a rather poor fight and Galvatron II succeeded at defeating and nearly killing him. Before he could finish his foe off, Optimus Prime (upgraded with new missile launchers and a heat-absorbing "Black Body" coating) intervened, destroying Galvatron's arm cannon. Although weaponless, Galvatron took the blow in stride and continued to mock Optimus Prime, who was not amused.

:(Note: This story seems to take place in the same loose continuity as the Japanese Generation 2 pack-in mini-comics. Both were written and drawn by Hidetsugu Yoshioka.)

Toys
Generation 1
*Galvatron II (Decepticon, 2006)
: Japanese ID number: D-66

: Galvatron II was an e-Hobby exclusive. It has the physically retooled parts of the 2006 Galvatron reissue, but with the grey paint scheme of the original 1986 toy. It also has one additional voice clip and extra stickers to add gold filigree details that had previously been seen only on a pre-movie advertisement. These stickers are very difficult to apply.

: Galvatron II also comes with the Creation Matrix, a green redeco of "Anime" Galvatron's Matrix of Leadership.

Trivia
* Compared to the first Galvatron, this guy was a bit underwhelming. His predecessor was shot by just about every Transformer you can name, buried under a volcano, soundly beaten by Unicron on more than one occasion, then lost half of his head before finally being destroyed by a rift in space and time. Makes you wonder how this guy beat Rodimus Prime in his own time, but meets his end thanks to a frozen lake.

* That's not blusher he's wearing in the picture at the top. It's the fires of evil burning within his soul.

Thundercracker

:Thundercracker is a Decepticon in the Armada and Cybertron portions of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Thundercracker suffered from low self-esteem and longed for approval from authority figures to validate his existence. He was willing to work as hard as necessary to gain attention and praise from Megatron, but when all his efforts were ignored or taken for granted, he grew frustrated. Thundercracker felt the need to engage in ever more risky and reckless behavior in an attempt to gain Megatron's notice. Many predicted this would lead to his destruction.

When next we see Thundercracker it is over ten years later, loyally serving under Starscream during the search for the Cyber Planet Keys. In the intervening years he became something of a jokester and goofball. This has often gained him the attention that he craves. Though frequently, especially when Megatron is the brunt of the joke, it is far from positive attention. Thundercracker doesn't seem mature enough to tell the difference, but he does know when to get the smelt out of Decepticon HQ before Megatron looks for someone to pummel.

(Note: the Dreamwave More Than Meets The Eye bio compilation for the Armada series portrays Thundercracker very differently, as a former Decepticon who left the army centuries ago. However, this does not seem to mesh with the glimpses of unreleased Energon comic issues where Thundercracker, along with several other Armada-series characters, show up in the present day.)

Fiction
Animated continuity
Armada
The character "Thundercracker" is never seen in the Armada cartoon. When Starscream gains his Powerlinx coloration, however, he happens to look just like Thundercracker. In Armada (although not Micron Legend) he specifically says "I look like Thundercracker," with a clear tone of distaste, proving that, although he is not seen, Armada Thundercracker must exist in this continuity as well and is probably a goober.

Cybertron
:Voice actor: Mark Oliver (US) Kazunari Tanaka (Japan)

Back outside the boundaries of the Unicron Singularity, Thundercracker and the few remaining Decepticons still loyal to Galvatron were given a boost of Omega Lock power, super-sizing them so they could take on the massed armies that had gathered from all of the colony worlds to oppose them. Thundercracker took on Optimus Prime himself to give Galvatron time to achieve his goal. However, Thundercracker was then gang-attacked by Leobreaker, Hot Shot, Jetfire, and Landmine, giving Prime the opportunity to chase Galvatron into the black hole.

Thundercracker continued to fight, and came very close to being directly in the path of the singularity-collapsing cannon-blast from the massive Ark starship.

After the defeat of Galvatron and the closing of the Unicron Singularity, Thundercracker realized that Galvatron was going to let him die in the cataclysm that his plan would have caused, and along with the other now-de-powered Decepticons, ran off. When the rocket boosters that built on the Jungle Planet to push the world back to its normal place in the cosmos began to fail, the four Decepticons arrived, cackling... and helped with the efforts to keep the thrusters upright and functional, deciding to try being on the winning team for once.

Thundercracker spent most of his time then on Earth, under the supervision of Mudflap, helping rebuild cities damaged by the Singularity's effects. When the Autobots were ready to begin their Space Bridge initiative, Thundercracker went to see his new "best friend" Optimus Prime off. Unfortunately, he ran across his former Decepticon allies, who were sick of trying to fit in, and had built a ramshackle rocket and taken off to form the New Decepticon Army. The trio shanghai'd Thundercracker, who really didn't want to join them, and took off for parts unknown.

They made it as far as Mars before the rocket crashed.

: Thundercracker is a redeco of Armada Starscream, transforming into a Cybertronic fighter jet. In both modes, pressing down on his cockpit canopy activates electronic sound effects; in jet mode, it also deploys his Mini-Con partner Zapmaster if he is stored under the cockpit. Plugging a Mini-Con onto his rearmost Powerlinx plug releases two spring-activated over-shoulder spring-loaded missile launchers, as well as more electronic sound effects. His left wing detaches and unfolds to form a large sword for use in robot mode. He is something of a rarity in the Armada line, in that he is a redeco that is a new, separate character rather than a "Powerlinx" upgrade of an existing character.

: This mold was retooled to make Armada Skywarp and Universe Ramjet.

:(Note: In Japan, Thundercracker's toy is simply a "powered up" version of Starscream.)

: For the Built to Rule line, Thundercracker was once again a redeco, a new-color version of the Starscream set. He can be assembled into a Cybertronic fighter jet or a robot, or to whatever else you feel like making out of the blocks provided (or any blocks you feel like adding). He came with a building-brick version of Zapmaster. The set features two missile launchers that use a unique "twist-block" pressure-launch mechanism. He was one of the last of the Transformers Built To Rule toys released at wide retail.
Inserting a Cyber Planet Key into his rear fuselage pops up the back panel, revealing a spring-loaded missile launcher. This assembly becomes his left forearm in robot mode, despite being almost as long as he is tall. He came with a silver-bordered Earth-style Cyber Planet Key; the Hasbro release has the Key Code "d98d" tampographed on the back of it.

: The Takara Galaxy Force release of the toy is slightly different from the later Hasbro Cybertron release, mainly the Hasbro version added a Decepticon insignia to the missile-launcher cover.
: In 2006, Target got multiple exclusive toys and reduced-price multi-packs, among them a set with unaltered versions of Thundercracker and Crosswise for about 75% the cost of two Deluxees normally.

*Thundercracker with Downshift (Tiny Tins multi-pack, 2006)

: Part of a run of Wal-Mart exclusive sets, Dirt Boss was also sold in a larger box that came with a special redeco of the Race Mini-Con Team member Downshift, plus a special Tiny Tins carrying tin for the Mini-Con. Dirt Boss himself was unaltered from his normal release.

: A smaller, simplified version of the deluxe toy was released in the fourth wave of the Legends of Cybertron line. Unlike the large toy, this version has two robot-mode fists, and the blaster-weapon is now an arm-mounted double-barreled weapon.

: This mold was used to make Classics Jetfire.
Trivia
* According to Joe Kyde, the reason for Armada Thundercracker's red face was because the gray plastic used to make the eyes is unpaintable plastic, so he changed to original plan from gray face and red eyes to red face and gray eyes.
* One of Thundercracker's lines in the episode "Inferno", as well as several other episodes, is <i>"git 'r' done"</i>. Seriously.

The name Optimus Prime has been assigned to several different characters:

*Optimus Prime, the original version of the Autobot Commander from Generation 1. For toys of this character, see Optimus Prime (G1) toys.

*Optimus Prime, the Autobot commander fire truck from Robots in Disguise.

*Optimus Prime, Autobot Commander truck from the Unicron Trilogy series.

*Optimus Prime, an Autobot commander killed by Unicron and sent into another dimension during the Dreamwave Armada comic's Worlds Collide storyline.

*Optimus Prime, commander of the Autobots from the Transformers live-action movie continuity.

*Optimus Prime, a younger and less experienced leader of the Autobots from the Transformers Animated continuity.

Optimus Prime is not to be confused with:

*Other uses of the name "Optimus"

*Other uses of the name "Prime"

Additionally, Optimus Prime is not to be confused with the real-life persons:
* Mr. Optimus Prime , a well-known Transfan and National Guardsman who legally changed his name to Optimus Prime. Hey, did you hear he went to Iraq? Pretty cool huh!

Override

:Override is an Autobot from Velocitron in the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Override is the best racer on Velocitron, and as such is the leader of the planet. She seemingly embodies the culture itself; she is quick-witted, decisive, self-sure and always looking for a challenge. This has its upsides and downsides: while she's brave and determined with a never-give-up attitude, she can also be cocky to the point of arrogant, if not selfish and shortsighted. She entered the great race for leadership disguised as a "boy", and has been defending her title and proving herself more than a match for anyone since.

After contact with the Autobots from Cybertron, particularly Hot Shot and Optimus Prime, she has matured into a more careful, more compassionate robot, less focused on being the best racer and more focused on being the best leader for her people... though she still maintains her never-lose attitude and love of high-speed challenges.

She has developed a close bond with the human girl Lori, referring to her as "Little Sister", which Lori reciprocates by calling Override "Big Sister".

:(Note: In Japan, Override is a "male" Transformer. She was originally intended to be a "male" in the Hasbro version of Cybertron, but Cartoon Network, the channel with the airing rights to the show, felt it needed more female presence in the main cast, and Override was chosen to change genders. This seems to have worked out really well.)

: Part of the Speed Planet theme, Override transforms into a sleek futuristic race car. Plugging a Cyber Planet Key into the rear portion of her car mode causes two non-firing blasters to flip out into attack position; this assembly becomes a hand-weapon for robot mode. Override's transformation is partially spring-loaded, flipping her torso and arms into position, requiring only her lower body and backpack to be manually configured. She came with a gold-bordered Velocitron-style Cyber Planet Key.

: There are a few small deco changes between the Hasbro and Takara versions of the toy; Takara's has a gold face and no faction sigil, while Hasbro's has an orange face, Autobot faction sigil, and gives her Key the Key code "dy7p".

: This version of Override also was available in two different store-exclusive multi-packs. The first was a Wal-Mart set, including the Cybertron-series Tiny Tin version of the Race Mini-Con Team member Mirage. The second was a Target-exclusive "Drag Race" set with Hot Shot.

: This mold was used to make the evil clone Dark Nitro Convoy.

*Override GTS (Deluxe class, 2006)

: Override's first toy was redecoed into a non-show coloration, replacing her white for a light gray, and gaining more black in her scheme. She still came with a gold -bordered Velocitron Cyber Planet Key, though this one has the Key code "dj9n".

: Early solicitations for this toy used the name "Double Clutch", suggesting that at one time, it might have been under consideration as being a new character. However, the first true Hasbro announcement of the toy at 2005 was that it was Override again.

Trivia
* Override's robot-mode CGI model appears in the viewscreen of the Hasbro version of the Real Gear Robots toy Zoom Out 25X.
* Override's alternate mode of a futuristic race car, as well as its red and white color scheme evokes the Mach 5 from the Speed Racer series.
* Override's color scheme is similar to the Generation 1 Autobot Minerva.
* In Cybertron, Lori and Override refer to each other affectionately as "big sister"/"little sister". Being male, Galaxy Force Nitro Convoy's relationship with Lori is slightly different, where he refers to Lori as what essentially translates to "little miss".
Quickmix is the right-hand-mech to Gigantion's leader Metroplex. He is cautious and a bit set in his ways, but he's also incredibly brave in battle and "knows a lot about a lot", as Metroplex puts it. But when things get hairy, he's also rational enough to know that sometimes, you do have to bend the rules.
*Quickmix (Voyager, 2006)

: Quickmix transforms into a Cybertronic (Gigantian?) cement mixer, with a drum that actually turns (on a ratcheting joint, though). The top of the mixing assembly flips up to reveal a control panel for Quickmix's pack-in Mini-Con Stripmine to stand on; pegs fold out that plug into holes in Stripmine's arms for stability.

: In robot mode, plugging a Cyber Planet Key into the Key jack on his drum splits it open and reveals his spring-loaded missile launcher. The "pipe" piece on his left arm is actually removable, and can be repositioned on his arm, or even used as a hand-held "blaster" thanks to its Powerlinx peg. He also has an alternate "work" robot mode, which basically just pushes his hips up into his torso and raises his shoulders up as well. He comes with a silver-bordered Gigantion-style Cyber Planet Key, with the Key Code "ve37" on the back.

: In Japan, Quickmix was only available through e-Hobby's online ordering service, in Hasbro packaging, in October of 2006... ten months after Galaxy Force stopped in Japan.

Trivia
* Quickmix's "work mode" is only seen in the Cybertron cartoon as a "halfway" point in his vehicle-to-robot stock footage transformation sequence. Unlike those of Metroplex and Menasor, Quickmix's work mode was also omitted from the instructions of his American release. Closer inspection would reveal to only the maddest fanboy that Quickmix seems to alternate between his work and regular modes at random in specific scenes.

* According to the color guide unlocked by his Cyber Planet Key, Quickmix's working title was "Mix Master".

Menasor is filled with rage. He finds his planet's laws stifling and stupid, and believes his people are destined for greater things than merely building with no seeming goal in mind other than to continue building. On top of that, being one of the younger Gigantions, he feels that he's simply not given the respect he deserves from Metroplex and the others. As such, he's joined up with Megatron and his Decepticons, who have promised much to the disillusioned worker.

Menasor is always accompanied by his Mini-Con partner Heavy Load, who doesn't seem to share Menasor's anger, and sometimes tries to set the rebellious machine straight.
: Menasor transforms into a Cybertronic (Gigantian?) excavation machine. He has an "assault" vehicle mode that widens the space between his drills and separates the "cowcatcher" halves on his front so his partner Mini-Con Heavy Load can fit in, expanding the blade's width. In robot mode, Menasor's chest panel flips down to reveal a space for Heavy Load to fit in his robot mode. The panel also has a double-barreled flip-down (non-firing) blaster. He also has an alternate "work" robot mode, which widens his stance and reverses the direction of his knees.
Placing a Mini-Con on the Powerlinx plug on his right drill unlocks the spring-activated grippers to the side, plus unlocks the drill, which can extend by pushing the Mini-Con forward. The left drill spins through a gear-wheel mechanism on its underside, while plugging a Cyber Planet Key to its Key jack activates electronic lights and sounds. He comes with a silver-bordered Gigantion-style Cyber Planet Key with the Key Code "us4r" tampographed on the back.

: The Mini-Con hardpoints on its knees are notable for being awkwardly placed; in its true robot mode, the toy's legs can't be positioned staight down because the pegs bump into eachother. This gives the toy an unusual bowlegged stance, and additionally adding Mini-Cons to the pegs will it from being able to stand at all, since the added robots would make Menasor actually have to do a split.

: In Japan, Menasor was only available through e-Hobby's online ordering service, in Hasbro packaging, in October of 2006... ten months after Galaxy Force stopped in Japan.

* Menasor's vehicle mode actually connects together better than shown in the stock photos (the official instructions and show model do not even acknowledge that the connectors exist). The plugs on the backs of his elbows fit into the sockets on his feet; these are supposed to connect together in vehicle mode. They do so fairly well, but must be disconnected for Menasor's Heavy-Load-added assult-vehicle mode. It actually comes packed like this, though there's no mention of it anywhere.

* Like the other Gigantions, Menasor's "work" robot mode is only seen in the Cybertron cartoon as a halfway point in his vehicle-to-robot stock footage transformation sequence.
Clocker likes to hit the energon overdrive when going into sixth gear while racing, which seems to be a surefire way for him to cross the finish line first. Well, for most of him to cross the finish line first.

: Part of the Speed Planet theme, Clocker transforms into a Cybertronic (Velocitronian?) open-topped race car, complete with driver's and passenger's seats (why?). Plugging a Cyber Planet Key into his rear assembly pops up a pair of thrusters with pull-out non-firing blaster barrels. This assembly becomes a hand-held weapon for robot mode. He also has a pair of removable side-pipes that can also be used as hand-weapons. He comes with a silver-bordered Speed Planet style Cyber Key; the Hasbro release has the Key Code "s129" stamped on its back.

: The Hasbro and Takara versions of this toy go about two different ways of creating the same color layout. Where the Hasbro version is cast in orange and blue plastics and uses ample paint applications to make parts white, the Takara version is cast in mostly white plastics with some orange, which means his head, both arms and blaster-base use extensive paint to make them blue and orange. The Hasbro toy has a further difference, painting his side-pipes silver rather than the Takara version's unpainted white.

: This mold was also used to make Cybertron Swerve and the live-action movie universe Clocker. It was also retooled for the Timelines versions of Cheetor and Tigatron.

Primus is Unicron's sibling, and the creator god of the Transformers. His body is the planet Cybertron, and the mega-computer Vector Sigma serves as his internal mainframe. The spark of each Transformer is a small piece of Primus's essence, and together they form his lifeforce, the Allspark.

In the beginning
Before the dawn of time, Order and Chaos existed within an extradimensional entity known as the One. To explore the fledging universe, he created the astral being known as Unicron, and then subdivided him, creating his twin, Primus. Both brothers were multiversal singularities, unique in all realities, but whereas Unicron could only exist in one dimension at a time, moving between them at will, Primus existed simultaneously in all realities at once. It is suggested, in fact, that the two brothers embody the basic concepts of reality - good and evil, order and chaos - and that their continued existence is necessary for the stability of the multiverse.

As Unicron and Primus went about their appointed task, venturing through the cosmos, it became apparent to Primus that Unicron was a corrupt being, and he took it upon himself to stop the threat posed to all of existence by his sibling. In combat, Primus was no match for Unicron. In cunning, however, he proved himself to his brother's superior when he shifted their battle to the astral plane, and then back to the physical world once more, only to have both their essences manifest within metallic planetoids, leaving them both trapped. It was with this act of sacrifice that Primus hoped to contain Unicron's evil forever. Unfortunately for him, over time, Unicron learned to psionically shape his prison into a giant metallic planet, and Primus followed suit, becoming the mechanical world of Cybertron. When Unicron then learned to transform his planetary form even further, into a gigantic robot form, Primus adapted the idea to suit his own ends - rather than transforming his own body, he would create small beings that would be able to change their shape, like Unicron. After performing a "test run" on the moon of Protos, where he successfully created twelve transforming robotic beings, Herald, Covenant, Schism, Paradox he birthed from his own body a group of thirteen robots that possessed the ability to change shape, like Unicron. These were the 13 original Transformers, each one infused with a fragment of Primus' life essence known as a spark.

The Thirteen were Primus' soldiers in his war with Unicron, which came to its seeming end during a climactic battle in which one of the Thirteen, who would forever afterwards be known as the Fallen, betrayed Primus and became an acolyte of Unicron. The battle ended when the Fallen and Unicron were sucked into a black hole and disappeared from reality. With Unicron gone for now, Primus entered an eons-long slumber, his self-imposed sleep preventing Unicron from detecting him through the mental link the brothers shared. The Transformer race grew, and Primus fell into the realm of legend, with a portion of his power, the Matrix of Leadership, handed down through the generations, serving as the Transformers' ever-present link to their creator.

Evolution of the Primus/Unicron myth
The Primus/Unicron backstory has evolved and been rewritten a good number of times since it first originated in the Marvel Comics series. The version recounted above is the current iteration, which has slowly solidified across a wide swath of media (beginning around the time of Armada). Before the Primus/Unicron mythos reached its present form it went through several distinct versions in the Marvel G1 comics and elsewhere.

Unicron's story
The first time we ever heard the Primus/Unicron backstory was in the UK comic continuity, from Unicron himself, in the story Legacy of Unicron, when he recounted it to Death's Head. Per Unicron's telling of events, he was a primal force of evil at the dawn of the universe, who led a legion of Dark Armies against his mortal foe, Primus, Lord of the Light Gods (note the plural). Events proceeded to play out basically as described above, though the role of the Light Gods and Dark Armies would diminish with each subsequent retelling of the story, until the current version, in which Primus and Unicron are alone, and have a unique origin. (Only one of the other Light Gods was ever named - the Chronarchitect. How exactly he factors into the current iteration of the myth is unknown.)

The Keeper's story
The second time the story was told was in the US book by the Keeper, an ancient mechanoid who guarded Primus's head at the center of Cybertron. This telling is effectively the same as the previous UK story, but mentions that their battle was towards the end of the era of gods, that Primus and Unicron were the last of their respective pantheons, and Primus had to defeat Unicron before he could take his place with the other gods in the "Omniversal Matrix".

Primus's story
The third time the story was told was also in the US Marvel series, this time by Primus, when he gathered all his children together to prepare for Unicron's coming. It was with this telling that we learned that Unicron predated the current universe, and had destroyed the previous universe which existed before the current one. He had slept peacefully, alone in the void of uncreation that remained, until fragments of the old universe that he had overlooked reacted, causing the Big Bang and birthing the current universe. The "sentient core" of this new universe recognized the threat that Unicron posed, and so created Primus to counter his evil and be guardian of the new creation.

Fleer and DK
The first modern retelling of the origins of Primus and Unicron did not come from G1-oriented media, but from a set of Armada trading cards released by Fleer. It was the backstory printed on Unicron's card which introduced the concept of the two being brothers created to explore the new universe by an extradimensional entity, here named the "Allspark."

This was subsequently expanded on and combined with aspects of the various Marvel Comics stories in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide, published by Dorling Kindersley and written by Simon Furman, who had written all three prior tellings in the first place. Here, the entity Fleer had called the "Allspark" was redubbed "The One," and the modern iteration of the myth detailed above was firmly established, and went on to form the backbone of subsequent fiction such as Universe and Fun Publications' Cybertron comics.

It was also at this point that it was established that Primus could transform from Cybertron into a robot mode like Unicron, but preferred not to, choosing to remain connected to the universe on a planetary level.

Generation 1
Marvel Comics continuity
Eventually, millions of years later, in one version of Generation 1 continuity, Grimlock, Jazz, and Bumblebee found themselves transported to the center of Cybertron, where they discovered the sleeping form of Primus and were told the tale of his and the Transformers' origins by the Keeper. Subsequently, Bludgeon's Pretenders attacked, and during the battle, a laser blast ricocheted off Grimlock and struck the essence of the sleeping Primus, causing a multiverse-shaking "Primal Scream" that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location. Primus himself immediately slipped back into his sleep, but it was too late. Primal Scream

Unicron dispatched a group of heralds to attack Cybertron and pave the way for his coming, including a Galvatron plucked from an alternate future. Galvatron, however, was not content to serve under Unicron, and instead captured Autobot leader Emirate Xaaron, forcing him to fully awaken Primus, who possessed Xaaron's body and summoned Transformers from all across the universe back to Cybertron. Out of Time! Primus intended for all his children to battle Unicron together, but when the planet-eater arrived, sheer terror prevented them from carrying out his desire. Primus instead made a stand himself, attempting to dupe Unicron into believing he still retained his full power, but Unicron saw through the deception, and destroyed Xaaron's body. Optimus Prime subsequently used the Matrix, the full measure of Primus's power, to destroy Unicron. On the Edge of Extinction! His body in this universe obliterated, Unicron moved on to another dimension, to ravage other worlds, and make further attempts on Cybertrons throughout the multiverse.

(Note: As originally written, it is quite clear that the story intends for Primus to have died after his battle with Unicron. As the current retcon makes it clear that this cannot possibly be, one must assume that Prime was wrong in his analysis that Primus had died. Notably, even in the original comics themselves, the Matrix - the life-force of Primus - is shown to still exist and is functioning fine in the G2 Marvel Comics series that follows his supposed death.)

Animated continuity
Primus did not exist in the Generation 1 cartoon as it was originally written. There, Cybertron's oldest revealed status was as a factory world of the Quintessons who invented the Transformers, and Unicron was created by the ancient genius Primacron. The animated continuity is, then, easily the fiction that is least compatible with the subsequent retcon that establishes Primus as a multiversal singularity and part of all Transformers universe, although Wreckers #3 did attempt to retcon the Primus mythology into the Quintesson-creation backstory of the original cartoon.

Beast Era
Beast Wars/Beast Machines
In addition to its occasional invocation in prayer or in righteous anger by the Beast Warriors, Primus's name was also leant to a set of propehtical datatrax, known as the Covenant of Primus. From this document, the Megatron of this era took his name (as did, presumably, the original Megatron), and the scriptures foretold the events which completed the Beast Wars. Nemesis, Part 2

After the Beast Wars, Megatron intended to incorporate Primus's essence, the Allspark, into his own being and become godlike by stealing every Spark of every Transformer on Cybertron. Sparkwar Part 3: The Siege Ultimately, this was merely one step of the Oracle's plan to reformat Cybertron into a technorganic paradise. After Megatron and Optimus Primal were plunged into the planet's core, the planet was reborn and the abducted Sparks were returned to new technorganic bodies. Endgame Part 3: The Seeds of the Future

Universe
Following the recreation of Cybertron as a technorganic world, Unicron began gathering Transformers from across the multiverse, forcing them to fight and harvesting the Sparks of the losers to restore his power. With each spark devoured, Primus was weakened, and so, communing with Autobot elder Alpha Trion, called back from the Allspark the now-legendary Maximal commander and Cybertron's savior, Optimus Primal, to rescue the possessed, battling captives from the Pit of Unicron -- and to lead a team of multiversal warriors to put a stop to his soul-stealing scheme before it could cause the Allspark to collapse.

Primus allowed Optimus Primal to choose any Transformer who ever existed -- living or dead -- for his army. This required considerable amounts of Primus's power, so Primal was told to choose sparingly. Primal chose his departed former troops Rhinox and Depth Charge. Ultimately, however, Unicron's defeat came not as a result of their efforts, but as a consequence of another battle, happening in another corner of the Transformers multiverse.

Unicron Trilogy
Energon
Voice actor: Ron Halder (US), Tesshō Genda (Japan)

In the Unicron Trilogy universe, Primus made was introduced as the living energy core of Cybertron, as well as the originator of the precious and ancient fuel, energon. Transformers of this universe believed the stories of Unicron, Primus, and Omega Supreme to be only myth and legend until the existence of Unicron was revealed in the "Unicron Battles" of 2010. With Cybertron left in a disastrous state after the chaos-bringer's attack, large amounts of Energon were required to repair the planet, and to search for and acquire the mineral, the united Autbot-Decepticon forces entered into an alliance with the Earth Federated Government.

Primus entered into the equation when the project's head scientist, Dr. Brian Jones, brought his son, Kicker, to Cybertron. Terrified of the giant robots surrounding him, Kicker fled, only find himself tumbling through tunnels into a hidden chamber deep beneath Cybertron's surface. Primus awoke and saved Kicker from what would have been a fatal fall, and for his own reasons, imbued the child with a special gift - the ability to detect energon throughout the universe. Optimus Prime subsequently discovered Kicker in Primus's chamber, and the god chose to work with the Transformers quite directly, imbuing them with the "Spark of Combination," which would allow the Autobots to combine and increase their powers. Primus went on to advise Optimus Prime on his actions in order to prepare for the future, including the Terrorcon invasion, the return of Megatron, and the next battle with Unicron; although vague at times, he would offer just enough information to allow his children to survive the threats they faced. Primus was often very weak due to the damage done to the planet's surface, and spent most of his time in a mode of stasis to preserve his energy and keep Cybertron's energy grid online.

When Megatron succeeded in reanimating Unicron, most of the Autobot army was critically wounded in the ensuing battle. This prompted the sleeping Primus to awaken and infuse their armor with his power, upgrading them into new forms, and allowing Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme to combine into a gigantic form and defeat Unicron. Unicron Perishes Unicron's spark survived, however, and Primus sought to contain it by trapping it at the heart of a new sun that he created from a reservoir of "super energon" hidden within Cybertron. The Sun
Voice actor: Michael Donovan (US), Tesshō Genda (Japan)

Primus's plan to contain Unicron's essence in the center of the sun failed when the star collapsed into a massive black hole which threatened not only Cybertron and the universe, but the entire multiverse itself. His energy drained to the point that he had once again been rendered dormant, Primus could now only be awakened and restored to full power by the four ancient Cyber Planet Keys, lost to the far reaches of the galaxy in a failed space bridge experiment eons ago. The magnitude of the threat posed to the multiverse was enough to summon Vector Prime - one of the original thirteen Transformers, who had been following Unicron through the multiverse and repairing the damage he had done - back to Cybertron to aid the Autobots in the quest for the keys.

Eventually, despite continued attempts by both Megatron and Starscream to steal the power of the Cyber Planet Keys, the Autobots were able to gather the keys from Velocitron, the Jungle Planet and Earth, and brought them and their focusing device, the Omega Lock, back to Cybertron. Coupling these three keys with the power of the Matrix, Optimus Prime was able to initiate Primus's transformation from planet mode to robot mode. Communicating with the Autobots through the Mini-Con, Jolt, Primus explained that the destruction of Unicron, the embodiment of the force of evil, had unbalanced the universe, and that only he could seal the black hole and restore order - but to do that, the fourth Cyber Planet Key, from Gigantion, the Giant Planet, was required to reconnect Primus's spark with his body and restore his full power. Cybertron (Cybertron episode)

Attempting to retrieve the Omega Lock, Starscream made a rather pointless attack on Primus, only to be smacked down hard. Balance Shortly thereafter, when Primus was in the process of channelling some of his power into holding back the ever-growing black hole, Starscream tried again, plunging into the energy beam and absorbing some of Primus's power into himself. Strscream expanded in size until he was as large as Primus himself, but Primus did not take this slight lightly, as he converted Cybertron's moons into a pair of mace weapons and relentlessly pounded Starscream into submission. Titans

Eventually, the Autobots were able to acquire the final key, as well as to reactivate the four ancient ships which had carried the keys to the respective worlds ages ago - the Atlantis, the Lemuria, the Hyperborea and the Ogygia. Primus fused the four ships together to form the Ark, and with his powers subsequently restored by all four keys, he channelled all of his power through the Ark as a beam, straight into the heart of the black hole. With a massive blast, the black hole was finally sealed, and Primus transformed back into Cybertron - not Cybertron has it had been, but a new Cybertron, infused with the differing aspects of Velociton, Jungle Planet, Earth and Gigantion, a true paradise for Transformers and humans alike. End

Fun Publications Cybertron comic
While the Autobots were occupied with the quest for the Cyber Planet Keys, Unicron's heralds Ramjet and Nemesis Prime arrived on Cybertron, intent on unleashing the Dead Matrix - as the Matrix was the antithesis of Unicron, so too would the Dead Matrix ensure the destruction of Primus, thereby totally destabilizing the multiverse and reducing it to a sea of entropic chaos. For the first time, it would be possible to Unicron to strike at Primus in all realities simultaneously, ending their cosmic feud once and for all.

Ramjet and Nemesis Prime were ultimately stopped by Vector Prime and allies Sentinel Maximus and Omega Prime, plucked from the midst of the Universe conflict by the multiverse-warping energies of the black hole. The Dead Matrix, however, was cast into the heart of the black hole by Unicron's servant Soundwave, freeing Unicron's spark and allowing it to adopt a new, diminutive physical form. Unicron participated in the escalating Mini-Con civil war on Cybertron's moons, but when the planet transformed into Primus's robot mode, Unicron fled. His whereabouts are unknown.

Kiss Players continuity
While on an adventure through space and time, the singing group known as the Kiss Players - natives of the Generation 1 universe - were accidentally scattered across the multiverse, and found themselves in the Unicron Trilogy universe. Shaoshao Li and Zangetsu found themselves stranded on the surface of Cybertron, where they were menaced by Scrapmetals. Shao was rescued by Safeguard, who told her that she stood upon Primus himself. Shortly thereafter, with help from Vector Prime, the giant golden hand of the Primus from her native universe took her back home.

IDW comics continuity
As of this writing, neither Unicron nor Primus has appeared in the new IDW comic universe. Writer Simon Furman has stated that he may specifically exclude Primus and Unicron from this universe, which might be seen as retconning out the previous retcon and rendering Primus as being once again a feature of only "some" Transformer continuities. Without a fairly direct in-story description of Cybertron's origins, however, it is impossible to say whether Primus is in fact absent in this universe, or merely not up to anything. This last one is possible, seeing as how Cybertron itself is a barren wasteland, with the stories taking place on Earth and other planets. It was at least confirmed that Transformers have a diety named Primus when Cybertronians were shown taking his name in vain while under attack by the Seekers in Megatron Origin, part 4.

In the absence of Primus, there were some other interesting things to mention in Cybertronian religion. In the Stormbringer miniseries, Jetfire and Scoop make mention of Primacron in an almost religious manner ("Primacron help us" and "Primacron only knows"). Bludgeon claims that there is a spirit of Cybertron which needs to be appeased to restore Cybertron, which one could easily interpret as Primus. However, Bludgeon's idea of appeasing Cybertron was to allow Thunderwing to destroy a bunch of planets in a mass sacrifice, so his sources (and his sanity) are a matter of debate.

Primus in Japan
While Primus has been a staple in Western Transformers fiction since 1988, the character has only recently made the leap across the Pacific to take part in the world of Japanese Transformers storylines.

Unicron Trilogy
Primus did not exist in Japanese Transformers fiction until he was introduced in Superlink (Energon). Although his nature is not fully divulged in the course of either this series or Galaxy Force (Cybertron), some early Superlink pre-production notes go into the specifics of Primus's creation. Not particularly in-line with the Western multiversal origin of the character, they present Primus as an entity consisting purely of energon. Energon, the notes state, is the product of the "genetic material" of the sun interacting with planetary bodies - this, then, appears to be a very literal interpretation of Primus's role as a "light god," presenting him as an actual product of the light of the sun.

Kiss Players/Teletraan Go! Go!
The Japanese decided at last to introduce a "G1" equivalent of the character in the Kiss Players fiction of 2007, wholly distinct from the version seen in Energon and Cybertron, since the character is not a multiversal singularity in Japan. Here, the character was envisioned as part of a complicated retcon that merged various animated concepts - Primacron's assistant, Vector Sigma and the Oracle - into one singular entity, who was also Primus.

Formerly the assistant to the Primacron, the ancient genius who created the giant mechanoid Unicron, the robotic being known as the Oracle was badly damaged when Unicron rebelled against his creator. His essence fled to a dead world at the centre of the galaxy, which he used his powers to transform into a verdant, green planet. This world was eventually discovered by the alien Quintessons, and the Oracle was captured and transformed into the mega-computer, Vector Sigma. The Oracle's world was transformed into the metallic planet of Cybertron, his powers were harnessed by the Quintessons to create the races of robots that would eventually become the Transformers, and the shell that had held his essence became the Matrix of Leadership.

Eons later, in the year 2007, three of Unicron's servants, the Sparkbots, co-opted the human singing group, the Kiss Players, into helping them gather up the scattered essence of the master following his destruction in 2005. The three girls - Marissa Faireborn, Atari Hitotonari and Shaoshao Li - were taken on a journey through space and time, and were tricked into believing that they were recovering fragments of the so-called "Allspark" from Autobot or Maximal leaders throughout history. The Oracle - by this stage calling himself Primus - was forced to intervene, appearing as a giant golden hand which began to steal away the fragments before the Kiss Players could gather them. Pursuing him across the multiverse, the Kiss Players collided with the Wall of Time and were scattered across dimensions.

Primus rescue the girls from the Unicron Trilogy universe and revealed the Sparkbots deception, before transforming into his "golden ark" mode (which Shaoshao thought looked more like a camper truck) to pursue the three villains back in time to prehistoric Earth. They arrived just in time to witness the Sparkbots' successul restoratin of Unicron to life, but Primus transformed once more and unleashed the power of his mobile cannon platform, destroying Unicron's energy and sealing it and the Sparkbots deep within the planet. To ensure that Unicron would never be freed again, he created a mighty guardian, Fortress Maximus, who would watch over it and the Earth. With the battle over, Shaoshao asked about the Kiss Players' future, but Primus did not reply. His work complete, the god transformed into a golden sphere and went to sleep.

Generation 1
*God Primus (2004)

:Unbeknowst to many Western fans, the first Primus figure was a "Lucky Draw" toy in Japan, a vacuum metalized gold chrome recolored Rodimus Prime that was given away as a contest prize from the collector book, Transformers: Generations. Supposedly, only 100 pieces of these lucky draw figures were manufactured.
:As a redeco of a Rodimus (no doubt inspired by the resemblance of his astral form to Rodimus in the UK comics), Primus transforms into a futuristic truck resembling nothing so much as a winnebago. Following the trend started by Optimus Prime, his trailer splits down the middle to transform into a battle station with an extending double-barrelled cannon. The figure comes with a large, hand-held blaster, and two blast-shield accessories that plug into the sides of his battle station cannon.

Cybertron
*Cybertron Primus (Supreme, 2006)
: Japanese ID number: C-00

:Cybertron Primus is the first toy representation of the Transformers' creator as their home planet of Cybertron. In planet mode, he is considerably more detailed than Unicron from the Armada line, with visible cities, including Iacon, based upon its appearance in the DK Books Transformers Ultimate Guide, and Kaon as seen in The War Within. On the 'bottom' of the planet mode there are four hard rubber legs, molded to be shaped like towers, allowing Primus to be displayed in planet mode, yet not require a flat base as Unicron did.

:Primus's transformation is unusual, in many ways similar to a Powermaster, in that he requires the owner to insert his accompanying Omega Lock accessory into several special ports around the planet, then manipulate it to unlock his parts and transform him. When the Omega Lock is initially inserted and pushed, a transforming sound is heard. When it is inserted into his chest and pushed up to reveal his head, his eyes glow red and a laser-type sound effect is heard. The Lock itself lights up red when it is inserted into any of the ports.

:In robot mode, Primus resembles both the Beast Wars Neo Unicron prototype as well as Don Figueroa's Primus concept, created for The War Within and used in The Ultimate Guide. He is bristling with weaponry, including two shoulder-mounted cannons that can fire missiles, two forearm blasters that raise and extend when a Cyber Planet Key is inserted, and several banks of gattling cannons, lasers and missile launchers in his shins and legs revealed by the Omega Lock.

:Primus also has what might charitably be called a third mode - an intergalacticic world-ship, which is basically formed by transforming the figure halfway and leaving the head down and the legs backward. It features no dedicated parts or transformation steps, making it very obvious that it was created after the fact.

:Primus comes with two accessories, the aformentioned battery-operated Omega Lock that lights up red when inserted into any of the four Omega Lock ports, and a special silver Cybertron-Planet Cyber Planet Key. Any four Cyber Planet Keys can be inserted into the four key slots at the base of the Omega Lock, though doing this does not activate any feature. There are also nine Mini-Con dead powerlinx ports on the Primus figure, including two on the claws on his legs. Attaching Mini-Cons to these also do not activate any features.

:In North America, limited early-run versions of Cybertron Primus came packaged with a "battle damaged" Unicron head based upon his Armada appearance.

:A later version, exclusive to Wal-Mart as a Black Friday 2006 special, included four Mini-Cons; Strongarm, Knockdown, Nightscream, and Offshoot.

*Megatron (Decepticon Leader, 1984, 2001, 2002)
: Japanese ID number: 16

: Megatron was released in 1984 as part of the first year of the Transformers line in the United States. It transformed into a Walther P-38 pistol, as seen in the popular 1960s spy television series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., with attachments. It was originally released in Takara's Microman toyline as "MC13 Gun Robo - P38 U.N.C.L.E." The Japanese release didn't come with the attachments. While the American release was chrome and red, the Japanese release was flat grey and blue (one of the Microman decos for the standard P-38).

: In 1986, Megatron was made available as a mail-away item (since he was theoretically no longer shipping to retail shelves) in the Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction flier packed in with boxed Transformers toys. He cost $21.50 and five robot points.

: The flat grey and blue deco Megatron was also used in the Japanese VS-X giftset with Optimus Prime.

:It was again released in grey and blue with Starscream in the Good-Bye Megatron set. This time, it came with his fusion cannon.

:In 2001, Megatron was reissued in Japan, and came with all of the American and Japanese accessories. A black redeco (the other standard P-38 Microman deco) was released the same year as a BotCon Japan exclusive.

:Megatron was again reissued in 2002 in Takara's Transformer Collection series. This release was identical to the previous reissue, but came with the mace used in the episode "More Than Meets the Eye, Part 2", a sheet of Decepticon stickers, and a Decepticon mouse pad.

:The toy was reissued yet again in 2007 as part of the "Transformers Encore" line.

:Megatron returned as an Action Master in 1990, and as with most Action Master figures, he could not transform. His sculpt was based heavily upon the Megatron's animation model design. He came packaged with the Neutro-Fusion Tank, a large tank vehicle whose hull could transform into a base/gun emplacement, with the turret forming a flight pod.

Generation 2
: Owing to the inability of Hasbro to re-release the original Megatron because that toy was a pistol, Generation 2 Megatron was released in 1992 as a large green M1A1 Abrams main battle tank. His main gimmick was a 'lock and load' cannon that can load most of his projectile ammunition, and then fire them one at a time. This was accompanied by electronic sounds (including engine, laser and cannon sound effects) and a voice chip.

: In robot mode, Megatron is by the standards of the time, a very large robot, towering over all Generation 2 incarnations of Optimus Prime. His legs were immobile, but he had upper shoulder rotation and elbow joints. His left arm, when raised, activates a laser sound. Pressing down on his head activates his battlecry "Megatron Attack!". His main cannon still functions in this mode.

This mold was slightly redecoed and restickered as Megastorm.

:Megatron was released again the following year as "Hero" Megatron: a smaller, but similarly styled tank based off the M1 Abrams. This Megatron was purple and came with a bellows that fired an air-propelled missile.

: Hero Megatron was designed with articulation in mind, so he was loaded with multiple swivel and universal joints, giving him far greater movement compared to his original Generation 2 toy.

: This toy was released in Europe, albeit with "MEGATRON RULES"-free blank chest sticker, as Archforce. It was also redecoed into Robots in Disguise Bludgeon.

*Megatron (Go-Bot, 1995)

: Megatron was released in a third form, "Go-Bot" Megatron. This was a minor repaint of the previously released Blowout mold, substituting silver for transparent gray plastic.

: In Japan, his hood was tampographed with a stylized T, with the Transformers logo set within.

:In addition to these, Megatron had a few unreleased toys in the G2 line. The first was the Megatron ATB (with Starscream), a recolor of the Dreadwing mold. The Beast Wars II BB and Starscream used the same deco, but had diffrent stickers. A second toy was a recolor of the Hero mold in a grey deco with black camoflauge stripes. The third toy was the flip changer used in 1997 as Machine Wars Megatron and Megaplex (MW).

: This toy was redecoed from an unreleased Generation 2 flipchanger Megatron.
: Oddly, The Machine Wars stock photos (and even the boxart) have Megatron as the gray F-22 jet and Megaplex as the blue one, the opposite of the actual toys. Which means that either the package designers got everything wrong, or the toys were put on the wrong cards. The latter is more likely since gray is more associated with Megatron than blue is. Like most other toys in the line, the boxart was recycled from an earlier figure, in this case from the Predator Falcon.
: Japanese ID number: TFC-09

: The Transformers Collection reissue of Starscream with a notionally more show-accurate redeco included an original accessory, a G1-scaled representation of Megatron in his Walther P-38 altmode. Needless to say he doesn't transform (well, maybe not quite needless to say), but he is designed to be capable of being "held" by Starscream... in both modes!

: Megatron's handle splits apart to reveal a peg, which can be inserted into a secondary specialised right hand that comes with Starscream especially for this purpose. While the gun's peg slots into the hand, the hand itself features an additional peg that slots into the corresponding hole in the other half of the gun. This leads to a rather ugly result, as the halves do not sit flush to Screamer's rounded fist, and since the handgrip is now merely positioned on either side of the fist rather than replacing it (by, y'know, gripping), it gives the appearance of Megs having a double-length handle. Also, given the design, it is only compatible with Starscream; none of the other the Decepticons can hold him (Soundwave is pissed)... buuut, Optimus Prime can! Despite the broader shortcomings of the compatibility of this accessory with other figures, the set does rather considerately include a similarly-modified "pegged" hand for the classic G1 Prime toy.

: Slightly more effective is the method of attaching to Starscream's jetmode. The right-hand side of Megs' butt features a square peggy thing which is designed to fit snugly in either of Starscream's "boob exhausts", as in that one episode where he does that. Or, alternatively, he could still do it in robot mode if he fancied, wearing his hated leader like a rather macabre and oversized brooch.

: Unfortunately, this peg has, for no fathomable reason, been cast in the same sky blue colour as Screamer's hands, unnecessarily making it as obtrusive as humanly possible.
: Smallest Transforming Transformers Megatron was released in 2004, coming with only his fusion cannon. Its other attachments were planed to be released, but were scrapped as the line was eventually cancelled. He is a simplified version of his original toy, yet retains most of his articulation.
Since that Megatron's gun form was nonviable as a toy, a "tweaked-out" German Maus tank alternate mode was designed. The backstory of the Megatron from the crossover, including references to Cobra, was retained on the package, make it the first US figure ever produced as part of a G.I.
:A new Megatron Titanium based on his War Within design was shown at Botcon 2006, and was released in spring of 2007.

:This Megatron is a "fusion blaster" based loosely on the original Megatron toy and apears to transform into a Nerf N-Strike Maverick blaster to Comply with modern US toy gun regulations(an orange cap on a Walther P-38 Won't cover it). Its scope/arm cannon houses a working crosshairs and its trigger includes clicking action. In order to pass modern safety regulations (both the government's and Hasbro's), its blaster mode includes lots of purple and green, plus bright orange on both the tip of the "barrel" and the scope.

:Although some official Hasbro photographs, including those appearing on the toy's packaging, show the gun mode's trigger and other small parts as being orange, those parts were gray in later stock photography and the final release.

:In these above mentioned early promotional photographs, Megatron also had noticeably different "eyebrow" paint applications that matched those of the original Megatron toy. These were two small black triangles on a gray plastic forehead. The final release has the placement of the black reversed, with two small gray triangles and a black forehead, sometimes referred to as Megatron's "unibrow" by fans.

:It has been recently discovered that the orange parts on Megatron, particularly the more exposed ones, seem to have their colors fade out over time. The exact cause of this change has not yet been discovered but care should be taken to avoid this from happening.

: The Megatron included in this two-pack is a tank inspired by the first Megatron toy from Generation 2. Instead of a right hand, its arm ends in a blade with "spinning dervish action." He comes packaged with Optimus Prime and a "The Ultimate Battle" DVD.

:Many (all?) units of this figure come with Megatron's splayed feet assembled backwards, a fact which is not immediately apparent as the "heel" half of his feet are actually larger than the "toe" half (this is the opposite of most splay-footed transformers), and the situation is not helped by the promotional (exhibit A to your right) and box-art photography displaying an identically misassembled figure. However, examination of the instructions and any attempt to transform Megatron into tank mode immediately demonstrate the mistake, which is easily corrected by unscrewing the halves of his lower legs and reversing the foot pieces.
: The Masterpiece Prime/Convoy included an accessory of Megatron in his classic Walther P-38 altmode. Although nontransforming, it is quite detailed and includes a removable silencer, scope, and (hinged) stock.
: Although notionally scaled to be wielded by Masterpiece Prime, the handle is marginally too short and thus has a sliding joint diagonally across the butt of the gun, thus slightly lengthening and narrowing the grip so that Prime can actually hold it. The reason for this odd design concept is unknown.
: Needless to say, the later-released Masterpiece Starscream can also hold this version of Megatron, and far more appropriately too!

*Megatron (2007)
: Japanese ID number: MP-5

: Scaled to the same height as 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime/Masterpiece Convoy, Masterpiece Megatron is designed to make a figure closely resembling Megatron's fairly non-toy-accurate original animation model actually able to transform into a realistic (if oversized) Walther P-38 altmode. Something which, on paper, should be impossible. This results in an incredibly complex transformation, likely making it one of the most elaborate Transformers toys to date, even including the unusually complicated automorphing Movie toys.

: Similar to Masterpiece Starscream, Megatron contains virtually zero die-cast, the only metal components being his feet and some structural rods (and not even as many as you'd expect). Combined with the fact that most of his parts are very thin in order to accommodate the intricacy of the transformation, this results in a comparatively light toy for its size.

: Megatron has the least articulation of the Masterpiece line, lacking the ability to pivot out at the shoulder by more than a small angle, and his head also cannot look upwards. The figure is completely incapable of rotating its arms sideways at the elbows. Also, due to the fact that the fusion cannon is very large (being scaled for a realistic gun mode sight), it butts into the gun mode barrel behind his right shoulder whenever his arm is raised at any angle other than straight ahead.

: Accessories include Megatron's purple energy flail from More Than Meets the Eye, Part 2, the lightsaber (referred to by Takara as an "energy dagger" for obvious legal reasons) used in his duel against Prime in Transformers: The Movie, as well as the discarded laser pistol with which he subsequently kills him. Also included is a tiny translucent Kremzeek figure. His fusion cannon also contains a powerful red LED which casts a short-range spotlight when a button is pressed.

: Due to updated realistic toy gun laws, a debate arose surrounding the Masterpiece Megatron toy. Many fans thought the toy would prove difficult to import into the United States. These fears lead to some online importers to modified the toys to comply with customs laws. Although initially believed that this would involve permanently painting both the sight and gunbarrel tips blaze orange or gluing on a large plug, final versions have been comparatively discreet. Manufactured by the individual importers, some retailers have elected to attach a rounded red plug into the barrel with "adhesive" (permanent?), while others have used a flat-tipped yellow plug that was apparently only temporarily secured with double-sided tape. Still other retailers chose not to modify the toys at all.

: Additionally, Australians have also had to deal with strict gun and gun replica laws. While some collectors have managed to recieve their Megatrons without incident, Australian Customs and the Federal Police have seized mass shipments and individual packages of the toy sent by certain online retailers, as they now classify Masterpiece Megatron as a gun replica.

: Some owners of this figure have reported rust problems for this figure. Seibertron.com is hosting a guide to combat the Cosmic Rust problem.
Megs comes with a non-removable fusion cannon and a few alternate hands, as well as an alternate head with its mouth open in either a smirk, growl or sneer, depending on how you read it. His sculpting is explicitly in the style of Pat "serfdom" Lee's interpretation of Megatron.
:Megatron has an incredibly powerful transluscent missile (don't fire it at at children or small dogs if you value their lives) and a Recover special power that allows the figure to stand back up if there's another Decepticon in play. :Seeking to exploit the tremendous energy potential of sweatshops, Megatron has taken on the new altmode to cement his alliance with Nike inc., since Cobra evidently wasn't enough of an Evil Empire for him...

:This rather unusual product line, thus far comprising only three entries, entirely utilises the same body mould with different heads, making this the first time Optimus and Megatron have had identical bodies.

:Something of a shellformer, Nikeatron is coloured primarily black and grey in his altmode of a realistic-looking scaled-down Nike sneaker, complete with (gratuitously long) real fabric shoelaces. In robot mode he incoporates a little additional red in predictable areas, and has a somewhat uniquely-shaped yet instantly recognisable G1-insipred head, with rather snooty (or camp, take your pick) pursed lips. An undocumented aspect of his transformation is that his gun, which splits in two halves and scretes inside his kibble when transforming (much like Rattrap's) has two handle pegs on opposite sides, so that the gun can be held either at its far end or halfway along its length. Additionally, the Megatron figure has an aditional peg hole in his right forearm (well, technically so does Prime), allowing you to insert the mid-length plug of his black-coloured weapon at this point, positioning the weapon in such a way as to (vaguely) resemble his traditional fusion cannon, rather than simply holding it in his hand.

:Somewhat perversely, Sneakertron's feet are sculpted in the likeness of his own sneaker altmode, so in effect he is wearing himself! Kinky...
Trivia
* It seems no-one could get Megatron's box art right in Japan. His standard release used edited boxart from the standard Microchange P-38 toy's black deco, recolored to Megatron's US toy color scheme with shiny 'chrome' and red on his legs and arms instead of the Japanese toy's flat grey and blue. The VS-X art replaced the red with blue, but kept the 'chrome'. The art on the 'Goodbye Megatron' set used edited US boxart (which in turn was the Microchange P-38 UNCLE art with an added sigil) that replaced the red with blue, yet this toy used red plastic.

* In a possible fit of madness, a triple changer was proposed that would switch between Skywarp (possibly mistaken for Starscream), Megatron, and Skywarp's jet mode.

* In a slightly more sane attempt, another triple changer was proposed which would switch between Megatron, a very awkward Galvatron, and a Walther P-38 handgun with added futuristic silencer and laser sight.

* According to Don Figueroa, the mysterious clip on the back of 6" Titanium War Within Megatron was meant to carry the sword Megatron was depicted as using in the War Within. As in the comics, it would presumably have resembled the sword packaged with various versions of G1 Megatron. It may have been omitted due to cost concerns.
