The Autobot Brothers rushed to the power plant, but it wasn't under attack. They hung around a while anyway, and chatted to Koji Onishi, who was visiting the power plant on a class trip. Though Sky-Byte was rubbing his fins together in glee that the Decepticons would have a reception committee waiting for them, it turned out that the Decepticons were attacking Crestline power plant, not Bayshore. Once T-AI told the Autobot Brothers as much, they were less than impressed with Sky-Byte. The Fish Test

Kiss Players
Flint and his family were living in New York City in the mid-1990s, but his work was keeping him busy, and his daughter Marissa was starting to resent him. As such, when Optimus Prime saved Flint and Marissa after one of Flint's missions went sour, Marissa began looking upon the Autobot leader as a kind of surrogate father figure... and maybe a little bit more.

Yeah, Flint gave his kid some issues.

Story of Binaltech
By the year 2004, Flint had become a member of the Earth Defense Command, working with the Autobots to safeguard Earth. After the Autobots upgraded themselves into Binaltech bodies with the E.D.C.'s help, the Decepticons infiltrated the project and began co-opting Binaltech shells for their own warriors. Arise! Evil Binaltechs Fearful that the unjust suspicions amongst the Binaltech Project collaborators that this breach of security had caused could completely derail the joint venture, Flint teamed with Jazz to head up "Operation: Carwash". This special operations units that would suppress information of the Decepticons' infiltration, and help to weed out the truth behind the infiltration, along with any traitors responsible. Operation: Carwash

Flint's investigation led him to the Concurrence, a group of villainous humans who sought to eventually rid the solar system of all Transformers. He learned that the Concurrence had teamed up with the Decepticons to achieve their goal, and that they had used an advanced combination of Doctor Arkeville's hypno-chips and Bombshell's cerebro-shells to brainwash innocent Binaltech Project scientists into reviving injured Decepticons for them. Flint transmitted this information to the Autobots, noting that it should go straight to commander Ultra Magnus at Autobot City as soon as possible, so that the mind control devices could be found and nullified. Knowing that Concurrence agents would soon be upon him, he signed off by reminding the message's recipients to keep his cover story up by telling his family that he'd be enjoying himself at the Lunar Colony for a little while longer. Expose All of Evil's Designs!

Marvel Comics continuity
Marvel US
Flint was present at a temporary G.I. Joe base-camp that was set up outside of Milleville, New York. The Joes had been staking out the town after being tipped off about a Cobra air armada being on the move—an armada, they would soon learn, that included Megatron and the Ark. Goin' South

The Decepticon army, under Megatron's full command once more, relentlessly attacked the Earth in an attempt to draw out Optimus Prime. London, Moscow, Tokyo, Washington, D.C.... the Decepticons' carnage was global, the entire planet becoming a smoldering ruin before them.

The U.S. Army was in shambles. The G.I. Joe team, under the command of General Hawk, was given the task of salvaging the dwindling counter-offensive.

Flint was present as Hawk voiced his fears about humanity's chance of survival; unless Skydive could get them significant reinforcements, they were done for. Interrupting Hawk in mid-sentence came both Skydive and Optimus Prime... which caused Flint to wonder if Skydive knew that "significant" meant "more than one".

Skydive tried to explain that Optimus was no ordinary Autobot, but Prime cut him off. The Autobot leader went on to explain his reasoning to Hawk and Flint, saying that a full-scale conflict would only make things worse. Optimus hoped to speak to Megatron, to make him aware of an even greater evil that threatened them all... which Flint promptly spat at, figuring the giant killer robot wasn't in a listening mood. The Gathering Darkness

Marvel UK
On Earth-120185, Flint is David R. Faireborn, born in Lincoln, England. He wears a US Army belt, an honourary award for his part in a hush-hush mission. As the field commander of Action Force's European operations, working out of London, Flint once found himself caught in the middle of the Autobot/Decepticon war on Earth.

When exploring a mysterious report of giant creatures in the Roman sewers under London with archaeologist Susan Hoffman, Flint and the Action Force encountered first the Protectobot Blades, and then, more ominously, Megatron (sort of). The situation swiftly escaped his control and, when he falsely believed Wild Bill to be dead, he sent in Action Force's Mauler tanks and Dragonfly copters... which Megatron stomped. Horrified by what he'd caused and noticing the Autobot forces couldn't stop Megatron, he ended up ordering a Skystriker air-strike on a gas refinery to stop the mad robot. Autobot leader Grimlock would be killed, but it was his life for countless thousands...

Flint bore witness to the sacrifice of the noble Centurion, who engaged Megatron at the refinery so Grimlock could be safely pulled out of there. After hearing that Centurion had been suffering from concerns that he was an outdated relic, Flint stated that Centurion was more an old soldier, and that he was proud to honour him. Ancient Relics!
G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers
Following the emergence of Cobra, Dashielle Faireborn became one of the three founding members of G.I. Joe, serving as their chief tactician. He was more than a little boastful about his strategic knowledge. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 1 After taking on the codename Flint, he helped figure out where Cobra would most likely strike next, namely the SPS Research Center. {{storylink|G.I. Joe prepared to attack Cobra Island, two generals arrived from the Pentagon and ordered them to cancel the attack and betray their new alien friends, as they were going to nuke the island. Flint protested on the basis that the Transformers were living beings, but his argument fell on deaf ears. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 4

Roughly two years later, Flint led a G.I. Joe strike force to Cybertron, where they helped the Autobots defeat Serpent O.R.'s Decepticon army. The Art of War issue 5

Flint and his troops arrived too late to stop Destro from illegally selling S.N.A.K.E.s in Cuba, if only because the Autobots beat them to it. While flirting with an unimpressed Lady Jaye, Flint got a phone call from Hawk, who needed some help with a secret mission in Tibet. After being air dropped in the area by the helpful Chinese military, Flint, Hawk and Optimus Prime started searching for the emitter of a mysterious signal. In the Himalayan mountains, the three were beset by Bludgeon and Cobra-La soldiers, with the latter group easily shrugging off the effects of Flint's shotgun. He eventually managed to wring the helmet off one of the soldiers, and was horrified with what he saw underneath. The team retreated into some caverns, where they found wall paintings describing Unicron, and were in turn found by Joe Colton. Black Horizon, Part 1 of 2

Flint was tangled up by a Cobra-La tentacle weapon and missed out on some action until Hawk freed him. He then called Colton a crazy old coot and pestered him with questions about his imprisonment, neither of which helped gain him respect with the older man. The two were suddenly attacked by Yeti, but saved by the timely arrival of Cosmos. After devicing a plan to use Cobra-La's metal-eating fungus to destroy Unicron, Flint decided to "make like Flash Gordon" and come with Cosmos to make sure the fungus didn't eat the Autobot instead. They flew into space and inside Unicron's head, where Cosmos was shot down and paralyzed. Flint disembarked and fought his way through the planet-eater's "anti-bodies", and ultimately managed to throw the fungus straight into Unicron's brain. As Unicron was devoured from the inside, Flint escaped aboard Cosmos, cracking jokes all the way back to Earth. Upon landing, he was greeted with a kiss from Lady Jaye and words of gratitude from Hawk and Colton. Black Horizon, Part 2 of 2
Transformers/G.I. Joe
In 1985, a G.I. Joe team led by Flint attacked a Cobra shipping facility in New York City. While the facility was largely destroyed, Destro and Scrap-Iron managed to escape via Trouble Bubble, an act that led to Flint being reprimanded by his superior, [[Duke (G.I. He apologized, but Duke only told him that "Nathaniel never gave apologies... he gave results." Soon afterwards, the Joes detected the crash of an Autobot shuttlecraft near Portland. Flint and several other Joes were sent to retrieve it, and after meeting with a rookie team led by Spirit, they repelled a Cobra strike team and recovered the unconscious Blaster and Perceptor. Hours later, Flint and Spirit were briefed by Duke, Stalker, and Scarlett on the threat posed by the Transformers. Targets of Opportunity
Notes
*Because of the romantic relationship shown between Flint and fellow [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. In an interview on the Sony BMG re-release of The Transformers: The Movie, former Transformers writer and story editor Flint Dille confirmed Lady Jaye as Marissa's mother.

The Dinobots are a rowdy, arrogant, lowbrow, disobedient band of warriors that some Autobots would rather scrap than deal with. They're also one of the most devastatingly powerful and close-knit combat units in the Autobot army, being incredibly powerful in robot mode and taking alternate modes based on dinosaurs, the most powerful creatures to ever roam the Earth.

Most of them dislike Optimus Prime, so whether or not they follow the Autobot leader's orders depends on what those orders are. If it's to destroy stuff, they're down with that. If it's to help people, it kinda depends on what the weather is like. They like chocolate milk.

The group's members are:

*Grimlock (the mary sue) Decepticon
*Slag (the BANNED IN THE UK) Autobot
*Sludge (the born-again christian) Autobot
*Snarl (the deleted scene) Autobot
*Swoop (the faggot) Autobot

and in one universe:

*Paddles (the 'Pete Best" one)

In at least one universe, the Dinobots can combine to form a monstrous super-robot called the Beast. (Grimlock explicitly states that this is not the case in another universe, though he has been known to stretch the truth. Hopefully not here though.)
Cartoon continuity
The Dinobots were modeled after the dinosaur dongs that Ironhide found in the volcanic caves near the Ark. Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge were built first. {{storylink|S.O.S.

The Dinobots' role was simply to pulverize anyone or anything that was too strong for the Autobots to handle on their own. In the process, they frequently mouthed off, rebelled and started brawls inside of Autobot Headquarters (and the occasional dinosaur-shaped city).

At one point, the Dinobots became sick of only being used as the hammer of the Autobot army, so they deserted, saying that they would fight when they wanted to. However, the Dinobots were called in when the Autobots and the Decepticons began suffering from Cybertonium depletion. During the battle with the Constructicons, they were accidentally sent to Cybertron, where they briefly reduced Shockwave to the role of chew toy. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1 However, Shockwave altered the Dinobots' memory circuits and forced them to work in the Cybertonium Pit. Spike Witwicky and Carly managed to rescue them, and the Dinobots decided to follow Optimus Prime's orders... until such time that they decided not to do so. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2

During the Battle of Autobot City, the Dinobots were dispatched to defeat Devastator. Despite their incredible strength, Devastator manhandled them. During Galvatron's subsequent attack, Kup and Hot Rod literally had to drag them aboard the shuttle, which was shot down over Quintessa. The Dinobots managed to avoid being captured and met Wheelie, who helped them find Kup and Hot Rod. Later, the Dinobots literally kicked the butt of a god. The Transformers: The Movie
Marvel Comics continuity
Shortly after the crash, the Arks computer detected Shockwave landing on the planet in the Antarctic land-out-of-time that would one day become known as the Savage Land. The Ark used the last of its capabilities to revive these five warriors and rebuild them to transform into the Savage Land's dominant lifeform: dinosaurs. The Last Stand They were then dispatched to deal with the Decepticon, where they sank to the bottom of a tar pit and remained dormant until Ratchet revived them in the 1980s. Repeat Performance!
It was established that Grimlock once commanded a splinter faction of Autobots known as the Lightning Strike Coalition, which included the Dynobots. It was also established that following this, these five robots used the Cybertronian designation "Dynobots". Transformers: War Within: The Dark Ages

The Dynobots traveled to Earth separately from the rest of the Autobots. Grimlock emerged on his own, and the Ark Autobots found him battling the Insecticons. The fate of the other Dinobots was unknown, but somehow Megatron had captured them and kept them in stasis in a secret base. After being freed, they traveled to Cybertron and helped liberate it from Shockwave's control. War and Peace

Devil's Due comic continuity
The Dinobots were originally five present-day Autobots who were sent back in time by Teletran 3 and reformatted into dinosaurs. When G.I. Joe traveled back in time, they recovered the Dinobots, who proceeded to beat Shockwave's Decepticons three ways from Sunday. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II issue 4

Grimlock was later sent to Earth to oversee the decommissioning of Cybertronian technology The Art of War issue 1, where his team found that human scientists had used the deactivated Megatron's technology to create the evil Serpent Organic Robot. The Art of War issue 2 Grimlock and the others followed this new threat back to Cybertron, only to be captured and imprisoned by the Decepticons. The Art of War issue 3 He was eventually freed by his G.I.
Before the Great War, Grimlock and the Dynobots were amongst the gladiatorial teams that competed in the Forge. When Megatron put out a call for combatants, the Dynobots were amongst those who were shown grudging respect by the Predacons as opposed to the remainder of the "amateurs" in the crowd. Megatron Origin issue 3

And by that, what we really mean is that Grimlock and Slag had never met before both were thrown in a brig for pissing off their commanding officers (shooting them in Slag's case). Bonding over their mutual desire to get things done and ignore the rules, they decided to form their own strike team: the Dynobots. In a personal quirk, however, Slag didn't want them to be seen as a proper team. Maximum Dinobots issue 2 The five warriors deliberately cultivated a terrifying reputation with their sheer brutality. Maximum Dinobots issue 1

Eons later, the Dynobots followed Shockwave to prehistoric Earth on a revenge-fueled crusade, after Optimus had told them to get over it already. The planet's energon fields forced them to take on the forms of the local animal life. Thus protected, they attacked Shockwave on the surface. Sadly, it did not protect the Dynobots from Shockwave's energy blasts, which melted the artificial skin and caused the Dynobots to go into stasis lock due to excessive energon radiation. Due to a deadman's switch, The Dynobots' ship (the Skyfire) blasted a volcano that buried everyone in molten lava. They were later unearthed by a human archaeological dig Spotlight: Shockwave which was taken over by government agents. Escalation issue 5

Though Grimlock was the first to be brought back online, he was freed from Skywatch's control through a virus implanted by a Machination spy (under orders from Scorponok). Scorponok wanted Grimlock to join him, but Grimlock refused, fought Scorponok and escaped, vowing to find and rescue the other Dynobots. Scorponok, however, planned to take control of the Dynobots himself and use them to assassinate Grimlock. Spotlight: Grimlock

Reactivated by Skywatch, the Dynobots were put through their paces, seemingly to great success (secretly because the Machination had "helped" set up Skywatch's neural nets). When Grimlock appeared in Fallon, the town was cordoned off and the "Thunder Lizards" were sent to engage him. Maximum Dinobots issue 1 The resulting clash caused massive damage to Fallon, helped along by Scorponok causing the neural nets to fluctuate so he could increase the conflict between the Dynobots.

Eventually they were allowed to have their sentience so they could find out Grimlock had set up the deadman's switch, which left them buried on Earth, without telling them. While feeling some guilt for what he did, Grimlock defended his actions by saying "er, hello, we're vicious amoral rule-breakers, of course I did it". Which worked. Maximum Dinobots issue 2

Rightfully so, the Dynobots were pissed with their leader, and walked away after Swoop read Grimlock the riot act. When Grimlock was attacked and almost destroyed by the Sunstreaker clones, however, the team reunited once again for battle. Although fighting valiantly, they might have been destroyed, if not for the intervention of the Monsterbots, whom were earlier contacted by Grimlock.
Maximum Dinobots issue 3

Aboard the Monsterbots' ship, the Dynobots wondered why Grimlock would side with the outcasts. They gave Grimlock a stern look when he exited the cockpit. The Dynobots didn't see the point of fighting Scorponok, but Grimlock said that Scorponok made it their fight when he turned the Dynobots against him. Snarl disagreed, saying that it has always been Grimlock's fight, that he and the other Dynobots went along with him, and that it was now Grimlock's wounded pride at stake. After the Monsterbots blasted away the defenses, Grimlock exited the ship, saying that there was no way he could let this go, and that with or without the Dynobots, there would be a reckoning for Scorponok. The Dynobots decided that arguing is pointless and followed Grimlock. When Hunter O'Nion pulled the cords from Sunstreaker's head, shutting him down, the clones ceased to function. Sludge cried out in victory, but the moment is short-lived as Scorponok blasted Sludge into stasis. Maximum Dinobots issue 4

Grimlock stared down at Sludge's dead body, brooding about how it was his fault Sludge was dead... while a battle between Scorponok and Shockwave (for rights of revenge upon Grimlock) raged on around him. Eventually Snarl, Slag, and Swoop decide to get to the Monsterbots' ship while the getting was good, but Grimlock stayed behind with Sludge. Grimlock tried infusing some of his spark energy into Sludge to revive him, but it seemed to have no effect. Shockwave got the upper hand and let Scorponok escape, and in frustration, Grimlock attacked Shockwave. Grimlock and Shockwave were too busy fighting to notice the return of Slag, Snarl, and Swoop, who reasoned that, while helping Grimlock might not be much of a cause, it still beat being no better than the Monsterbots. They were noticed by Sludge, however, who seemed to have recovered due to Grimlock's treatment after all. The four of them dove into the fray proper, but Grimlock ordered them to go after Scorponok instead. When Hot Rod was about to get squished by Scorponok, the remaining Dynobots showed up in just the nick of time. At Hot Rod's urgings, Swoop severed the connections keeping Scorponok's head conscious. But before the Dynobots could kill the rest of Scorponok, Ultra Magnus showed up and told them that Scorponok would be revived and made to answer to a tribunal instead. He then said they should purge the entire Machination facility, gather up all related Machination technology, and get as far away from Earth as possible as soon as possible—a plan that the Dynobots, Hot Rod, and Hunter were all perfectly OK with. Ultra Magnus later told Grimlock that having Scorponok and Shockwave in custody could help offset Grimlock's own sentence, and that the other Dynobots' warrants had been canceled, and Grimlock was content with that and the fact that Sludge was alive again thanks to him. On Earth, the other Dynobots meanwhile happily repaired the Skyfire. Maximum Dinobots issue 5
Notes
* The Dinobots are the first Transformers whose creation is shown in the cartoon. It seems simple enough: The Autobots simply construct their bodies, flick the switch, and they're animate. Wheeljack later upgrades their brains, after which they display sentience. However, the later episode "The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1" heavily implies that there's no way to bring a Transformer to life without the use of the supercomputer Vector Sigma. Still other episodes would show the creation of Trypticon and the Technobots without the use of Vector Sigma. For more on this issue, see the separate article Reproduction.
*Four of the original five Dinobot designs served as the templates for the "Geisters", recurring villainous henchmen on the Takara/Sunrise co-production Brave Exkaiser; Slag became Horn Geist, Sludge became Thunder Geist, Snarl became Armor Geist, and Swoop became Ptera Geist. In what might be called a vision of things to come, the four were once briefly fused into a single robot called "Mad Geister" (マッドガイスター Maddogaisutā). However, because each Geister controlled a portion of the combined body—and, aside from Ptera Geist, they had the accumulated brain power of a Froot Loop—this ended rather badly for them. In a more successful (if not also prescient) later development, the Geisters learned to merge in groups of two, with Ptera Geist and Thunder Geist forming the centaur-esque "Pteder" (プテダー Putedā) and Horn Geist and Armor Geist forming "Hormor" (ホーマー Hōmā).
* The 2003 Dinobots line, a Wal-mart exclusive, reuses most of the Generation 1 Dinobots' names. In the absence of any bios or fiction, however, it is unclear if they are meant to represent the same characters.
* The 2005 Grimlock and Swoop two-pack was originally intended to portray the Generation 1 characters, but ended up as part of the Energon toyline instead, representing new characters.
Dinobot
:The Dinobots are an Autobot subgroup from the Generation 1 continuity family. In some continuities, before they arrive on Earth, they are known as the Dynobots.

The group's members are:

*Grimlock (the mary sue) Decepticon
*Slag (the BANNED IN THE UK) Autobot
*Sludge (the born-again christian) Autobot
*Snarl (the deleted scene) Autobot
*Swoop (the faggot) Autobot

and in one universe:

*Paddles (the 'Pete Best" one)

In at least one universe, the Dinobots can combine to form a monstrous super-robot called the Beast. (Grimlock explicitly states that this is not the case in another universe, though he has been known to stretch the truth. Hopefully not here though.)

Fiction
Cartoon continuity
The Dinobots were modeled after the dinosaur dongs that Ironhide found in the volcanic caves near the Ark. Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge were built first. S.O.S. Dinobots After some initial troubles, their performance pleased Optimus Prime enough that he had two more built, adding Snarl and Swoop to the ranks. War of the Dinobots

Dreamwave comics continuity

Joe allies The Art of War issue 4, and helped defeat Serpent O.R. Meanwhile, Snarl was seen among the Autobot troops fighting against Serpent O.R.'s army. The Art of War issue 5

Legends anthology
The story "Paddles" features a sixth Dinobot of the same name. This is also the only appearance of the character. Paddles (story)

IDW comics continuity
ongoing
Crash and Burn!

As Ginrai and Road King fought BlackZarak in China, the powerful Decepticon summoned one of each of the three Sparkdash Decepticons to aid him. Although the Autobots were briefly taken aback by the arrival of the new enemies, the Sparkdash quickly proved to be as fragile as the Seacons. When Ginrai scored a single hit on the Guzzle, it promptly exploded, and Road King quickly took out the remaining drones. God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?
Multiple Guzzles were among the Sparkdash and SeacoAutobotn legions that backed up the Decepticons when they staged an attack on North America from within the Grand Canyon. Shūta Gō, Cab, Minerva and Cancer were badly outnumbered by the huge robot swarm, but help soon arrived in the form of Wilder and Bullhorn, who added enough extra firepower to wipe out the Decepticon drones. {{storylink|Battle to the Death!! As the Sparkdash set the city aflame, the Autobot Godmasters arrive to thwart their fiery felony. * Despite the fact that the toy features a unique color scheme, when Guzzles appear in the Masterforce animated series, they are colored in the purple and yellow hues of their American counterpart, Cindersaur. Even the Masterforce toy catalog's photos use the Hasbro coloration.
* Much like Masterforces Seacons, the Sparkdash are never depicted in robot mode in either the cartoon or manga. The toy's package art, seen at right, is the only known "fictional" depiction of a Guzzle in robot mode.

Jhiaxus is an Autobot. He and his faction left Cybertron eons ago and formed the Cybertronian Empire of cyberformed planets. He views the original Autobots and Autobots as evolutionary throwbacks, simple animals, insults to his race's memory which must be wiped out. But his ice-cold demeanor of control and amoral objectivity is merely a facade. It is only a mask, a face he wears to forget the mad tyrant he once was. He has been repressing this side of himself, burying it, for millennia. Unfortunately, recent encounters with Autobots and Autobots have been testing his resolve...

Jhiaxus is not one for improvisation. He has been denying his impulses for so long, it has weakened his ability to think on his feet in many situations. Millions of years ago, some time after Optimus Prime and Megatron left Cybertron and crashed on Earth, Jhiaxus was born through the long-forgotten "budding" means of reproduction. The Power and the Glory At first a cruel and petty tyrant ruled by his irrational desires, Jhiaxus learned slowly to bury this part of himself beneath layers of icy control. Primal Fear! Tired of the Autobot/Autobot conflict, Jhiaxus left with his budded brethren into space, determined to begin a new Cybertronian Empire free of the war waged by those he deemed "evolutionary throwbacks". War Without End! He was anointed the rank Liege Centuro of this new Cybertronian faction by the Liege Maximo, A Rage in Heaven! and Jhiaxus began to wipe out what he considered to be inferior life and terraform their conquered worlds.

A decade after Optimus Prime and Megatron's war had restarted on Earth, Prime and his Autobots found out about this empire while pursuing the remnants of Bludgeon's Autobots across the universe. Quickly thereafter, Jhiaxus's ship, the Twilight, abducted them and delighted in telling Prime and Grimlock that for his side of the universe, the war had been over for millions of years and that Prime and his adversaries were embarrassments to him. Jhiaxus hoped that Prime would see the error of his ways, but he escaped in a stolen ship with his fellow Autobots. However, Jhiaxus had launched a ship of his own to follow them. War Without End!

Jhiaxus traced the Autobots to the K'tord Nebula, and his Cybertronians battled Prime's bitterly on the surface of one of its planets. Parasitic creatures on the planet began to feed on the hate and fury buried in the minds of both sides, which caused Jhiaxus to revert back to the barbaric version of himself he thought he'd long buried. Despite Prime's own problems with the parasites' induced rage, he was able to convince Jhiaxus and their respective warriors to stop fighting and go their separate ways. Primal Fear! Jhiaxus retreated to his flagship, and thanked the maker that, as far as he knew, there were no Autobots left of the original generation to cause him further conflict. Sadly, he was misinformed. Primal Fear!#"Old Evils"

When Grimlock and a bloodthirsty group of Autobots tried to sneak a Chaosmaster Bomb on board the Twilight, Jhiaxus easily saw through their ruse. He shipped the survivors in a prison ship to be examined by the Liege Maximo, but the ship was intercepted by Optimus Prime. Devices and Desires! (Marvel) Later, Jhiaxus made a visit to Outpost D-109, a recently conquered planet the Cybertronians were busy eco-structuring into a Cybertron-like world. Though the process was ahead of schedule, Jhiaxus was still disappointed. The Autobots had mysteriously halted their attacks on his troops, and their absence worried him. The Power and the Glory

One of his teams crossed paths with the original-generation Autobots, and the incident ended badly. Jhiaxus decided to make his move, and ordered a full-scale attack on Megatron's Warworld near Tykos. This altercation resulted in casualties in Megatron's forces while Jhiaxus battled Megatron himself in orbit. Jhiaxus relished condescending to his opponent, an act reinforced by his superior might. He shot Megatron out of orbit, leaving him for dead on the moon's surface. New Dawn However, Megatron miraculously survived, and his Autobots and the Autobots forged an uneasy alliance against the Cybertronians. Increasingly frustrated, he vowed to escalate his galactic efforts, ordering that every planet be stripped of life. He hoped to force the hand of the original generation Transformers and overwhelm them, a plan that nearly worked on Ethos against the Autobots until Autobot reinforcements arrived. Escalation! Indeed, the battle there decimated the best of Jhiaxus's forces. But Jhiaxus soon gained an unexpected advantage—Starscream sold out the location of the original generation's base of operations in exchange for a high-ranking position. Swarm (issue)

Jhiaxus attacked the base on Earth. Tales of Earth Part Six The headquarters itself was quickly destroyed, but Optimus and Megatron's troops fought back strongly and met the challenge equally. Jhiaxus wanted to end the conflict here and then, so he called for reinforcements from every corner of his empire. Total War! Adding insult to injury, Jhiaxus was informed that his troops had lost the Warworld to the backstabbing Starscream. Jhiaxus lost his composure, and when he tossed his subordinate, Rook, in anger, Rook arranged a trip to the Liege Maximo. Jhiaxus returned to the Twilight, and upon receiving a transmission from Optimus Prime onboard the Warworld, he acted upon his anger by targeting a random spot on the Earth with nuclear weapons. Before Jhiaxus could order another shot, the Twilight was knocked away by a blast from the Warworld and the Swarm arrived. Dark Shadows!

Despite his officers' pleas to withdraw, Jhiaxus's troops were ordered to stay their ground even as the Swarm ate its way through them effortlessly. Optimus Prime, ever trying to reach a solution, arrived on the Twilight to talk, but Jhiaxus would not have it. He threw Prime around, powered by his increasing rage, and blamed him for how his life, his empire, had disintegrated. Before he could strike the final blow, however, the Swarm broke through the bridge of the Twilight, and Jhiaxus challenged it. Unicron abducted Jhiaxus's spark and stripped him of his rank and power. Though he once again wore the brand of an ordinary Autobot, he still nursed a hatred towards Autobot and Autobot alike. They were all, of course, unevolved, inferior throw-backs. This bias forced him to work alone.

While still abducted by Unicron, Jhiaxus was kept locked inside one of the chambers within the Cauldron and periodically forced to combat other Transformers so that Unicron could feed on the loser's Spark. He was freed along with countless others when Optimus Primal orchestrated a prison break. Escape (issue)

IDW comics continuity
Jhiaxus was Nova Prime's chief theoretical strategist and pioneer of attempts to push forward the Transformer race, as well as a mentor to Shockwave. Spotlight: Doubledealer

He pioneered gestalt technology, bonding six Transformers into one combined entity to create an ultimate Transformer—resulting in an insane murdering monster that eventually was imprisoned in a dimensional prison by Omega Supreme. Spotlight: Optimus Prime Jhiaxus also was behind the introduction of gender to the Cybertronian genome, produced by his tampering with the CNA of Arcee. This had the slight side effect of turning her into an insane murdering monster. Spotlight: Arcee

Despite this slight pattern to his results, he remained in Nova Prime's inner circle and was part of the crew aboard the original Ark spacecraft, which was subsequently was lost in the Benzuli Expanse. Now stuck in the Dead Universe (only able to leave for brief periods before dying), Jhiaxus became a confidant for the rechristened Nemesis Prime and plotted on a plan to merge the Dead Universe with the regular one, allowing them to go home and gain power over the combined reality.

Jhiaxus began prepping Nega-Cores on three worlds, which would enable this universal "Expansion". Spotlight: Arcee He also set up an underground base on Gorlam Prime, where a large portal to/from the Dead Universe resided; he then began poking Gorlam Prime's evolution with a stick, accelerating the development to an advanced technological race with the end result of turning them into tiny Transformers. These were the template for what all life would be turned into to survive the Expansion, and the first few batches served as guards and general minions. (Shockingly, while murderous and with monstrous origins, they weren't insane.) Spotlight: Hardhead

On the eve of the Expansion, Jhiaxus told Nemesis Prime that he suspected Galvatron of having his own agenda. The point would become moot, however, once their plans unfurled. Devastation issue 6 After Cyclonus secured the Nega-Core and activated its guardian, Jhiaxus initiated the Expansion with Nemesis Prime and the rest of the Dead Universe crew. Spotlight: Cyclonus

Jhiaxus was in mental control of the three guardians of the Nega-Cores, Spotlight: Doubledealer and also took mental control over Nightbeat and sent in hordes of Micromasters when the Autobot, alongside Hardhead, began investigating on Gorlam Prime. Unfortunately, his intricate and long-plotted strategy was undermined by Hardhead's "shoot people in the head" plan. The Autobot then leapt into the Dead Universe portal. Spotlight: Hardhead

He also monitored the Autobots' efforts to withstand their attacks. When he noticed Jetfire preparing to disrupt his mental control over the guardians, he took mental control of Bludgeon to defend the project. Spotlight: Doubledealer

Unfortunately, as Jetfire pointed out, the Autobots were quickly destroying all his hard work, and his attention was divided. So much so that he not only was frozen and distracted from offing Jetfire, he didn't realise someone was in his control room until they sliced off his arm. Turning round, he was faced with a gleeful Arcee.

Making a run for it, and using his Micromasters to keep Arcee busy, he made his escape through the portal... or he would have if an undead Hardhead hadn't popped up, slowing Jhiaxus down enough for Arcee to stab him and cut off his head. But, in the realm between the living and dead universes, Jhiaxus was practically immortal. Which meant Arcee could keep killing him for as long as she liked. Spotlight: Sideswipe

Helpless, Jhiaxus spent several years being repeatedly killed by Arcee over and over again, until one day when the portal to the Dead Universe suddenly began to act strangely and lure people into mindlessly wandering into it. The entire Micromaster population of Gorlam Prime disappeared into the Dead Universe, and though Jhiaxus was also tempted, he was seemingly too damaged to follow them. Arcee and Hardhead subsequently left him to investigate the matter. Heart of Darkness issue 2 Eventually, his broken body was discovered by Galvatron, who had earlier betrayed Nemesis Prime and stolen the Heart of Darkness from him. Jhiaxus was restored by the power of the Darkness, though he was disoriented and couldn't explain where everyone on the planet had gone to. He led Galvatron and his men to the Dead Universe portal, which had now turned from a pool into a large sphere. Heart of Darkness issue 1

At the portal's location, Arcee and Hardhead returned and attacked them. Filled with terror upon seeing his tormentor again, Jhiaxus tried to fight back against her, with little success. Galvatron managed to chase Arcee off and read Hardhead's memories to learn what happened on Gorlam Prime, eventually learning of the "D-Void", a major threat to all Transformers. He subsequently took Jhiaxus with him to raise an army capable of opposing this entity. Heart of Darkness issue 2

Jhiaxus quickly got to work rebuilding the space bridge network, based out of Gorlam Prime, allowing Galvatron to travel the galaxy and recruit soldiers for his army. Heart of Darkness issue 3 Later, after Galvatron's ship was infested by zombies and crashed on Earth, Jhiaxus put up a space bridge portal that allowed the crew to leave. The Transformers: Infestation issue 2 Jhiaxus found the zombie virus very intriguing, especially its ability to infect both organic and robotic lifeforms, but Galvatron dismissed it as irrelevant and inefficient. Heart of Darkness issue 4

Chaos Part Four: Genesis
After using Kimia Facility to blow a large hole in Cybertron's surface, Galvatron took Jhiaxus with him to the blast crater. Chaos Part Two: Numbers Their goal was to reach and destroy the planet's core, though they were briefly hindered by Optimus Prime on the way. Chaos Part Three: Kings When they located Vector Sigma, Galvatron inserted the Heart of Darkness into it in the hopes that this would stop D-Void. Then Optimus Prime caught up and fired on them, and Jhiaxus wasn't seen again during the events that followed. Chaos Part Four: Genesis
: Jhiaxus is a redeco of the deluxe-sized Jetstorm toy in orange and gray. His jet-mode cockpit has a spring-loaded extension, giving him a bird-like head in this form that is articulated at the neck to "search" for targets. Both jet and robot modes feature spring-loaded "energy blast" missiles. He also has an alternate robot mode, which folds his legs into a "flight cone" and reveals jet thrusters. Jhiaxus was available exclusively at KB Toys stores.

:Although most previous versions of the mold have the wingtips swept forward in vehicle mode, Jhiaxus was packaged and depicted in his instructions with the wingtips swept back. His toy art and instructions also show the robot-mode wingtips swept forward, as shown here; this contrasts with the Universe art above.

: This mold was also used for Sonic Attack Jet, Robots in Disguise Storm Jet, and Universe Skywarp.
Notes
* Jhiaxus's name is a pun on "gee, axe us", a phrase which expressed writer Simon Furman's dread of the Generation 2 comic's cancellation by Marvel.
* Generation 2 Jhiaxus's robot mode design seems to be based loosely on the Seekers. He keeps the air-duct boobs, the cockpit torso, the ear-vents, the wing placement, one shoulder-mounted jet engine (including Starscream's stickers), and a nosecone on the back of the head.
* Among the many, many toy ideas Glen Hallit suggested was a repaint of Go-Bots Aero-Bot as Jhiaxus. It was to be distributed as the Dinner Exclusive at OTFCC 2003, but as with most of Hallit's toy proposals, it was not produced.
* In the IDW continuity, Jhiaxus' obsession with improving the Cybertronian form has led to him altering even his own body. This has resulted in a chassis that strongly resembles an entirely different Starscream.
