: Bruticus transforms into a Cerberus, a mythical three-headed dog. His robot mode continues the motif, with three different dog-shaped faces on his head. his beast-mode hind legs, which end up on his robot mode back, can unfold into a second pair of arms, each one brandishing a (non-removable) melee weapon. He has a flip-up chestplate that reveals indications of an intended spark-crystal-activated gimmick (as all second-year Beast Machines toys had). But this gimmick was seemingly abandoned, and it is unknown just what it was meant to do; it has been suggested, due to the shoulder design of the figure, the gimmick would have involved some kind of lunging attack with the two side heads (the ones that turn into the main robot arms) in beast mode when the center head was pressed down..
*Bruticus was the first Transformers color layout done by Aaron Archer.
*It is possible, though difficult, to arrange the "bat wings" of Bruticus' robot head to effectively make any of his three faces the "primary" one (the one that faces forward); what this accomplishes is unknown, aside from an obscure Quintesson reference.
* Similarly, the transformation design of Bruticus' figure gives it an unofficial "centaur" mode; what this accomplishes, aside from being quaint, is equally unknown.

The US series finale sees Galvatron invades Autobot City and then Cybertron with a plan to destroy the Autobots forever! This is something new?

Detailed synopsis
Goldbug is talking with the Technobots at Autobot City. Things have been quiet for the Autobots in the months since the return of Optimus Prime and the Hate Plague crisis. Not a word has been heard of the [[Decepticons in months. Who knows where they are. The answer? Right at their doorstep. Meanwhile, Ultra Magnus walks into a room to find Optimus on his knees. Optimus claims that he has been having visions since he opened the Matrix, and it's something big. Goldbug informs Optimus of the approaching Decepticon force, and Optimus realizes that what ever he's been sensing, it's starting right now.

Leading the Autobots out, the Decepticons attack. The Technobots and the Throttlebots take point, but the Decepticons have gotten some new raw poer in Apeface and Snapdragon, while Mindwipe has some fun with Lightspeed. However, Punch sees Wingspan and Pounce enter into Autobot City. Transforming into Counterpunch, he follows to check up on their progress, where he sees them steal something from the vaults. They Clones quickly dispatch Punch, and take their prize to Scourge. Having claimed what they wanted, Galvatron orders a retreat. Optimus, realizing this was a diversion, runs into Autobot City, finding Punch and the vault. Horrified, Optimus orders everyone to board the ships and head for Cybertron.

On Cybertron, Blurr is racing with Hot Rod, with Daniel ridding in Hot Rod. Blurr, however, losses control, while Daniel shoots several Decepticon targets and wins the race. Brainstorm claims that this is evidence of his theory that human partner's would be able to assist the Autobots in the war with the Decepticons. Hardhead and Cerebros are unsure of the idea. However, Optimus contacts the Autobots, telling them Galvatron stole the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. This the was forge which was used to create the bodies of the original Autobots. Since the Quintesson rebellion, the key has been in the safekeeping of the Autobot leaders, who have guarded it. However, Galvatron intends to open the chamber and destroy Cybertron. The Decepticons arrive, and chaos insues. The Aerialbots are quickly taken down by Sixshot.

During the onslaught, Kup and Hot Rod's team notice Scourge heading for the Plasma Energy Chamber. They pursue in an attempt to stop him, but when Scourge opens the chamber, he is nearly killed, but Spike and Cerebros manages to grab the key. The Autobots' ship is hit by a wave of energy from the Plasma Energy Chamber. Their ship is hurled off Cybertron itself. Discovering Scourge, the Decepticons reactivate him. Scrouge explains what happened, and a team under Cyclonus heads out to find the Autobots with the key.

Meanwhile, the Autobot ship crashes on Nebulon. With the engines fried, the Autobots and the Witwickys decide to look for civilization. However, they're captured by a resistance movement that thinks they're machines being controlled by the Hive. They plan to destroy the Autobots with magnetic bombs, even though Spike tries to talk them down. However, the Decepticons show up. Spike finally convinces the Nebulons to release the Autobots. In the subsequent battle, Daniel is injured by Snapdragon, and Hot Rod, Kup, Blurr, Crosshairs, and Sureshot are taken captive. Some of the Autobots persue them into the forest, but are quickly driven off by machines. The Nebulons explain that the Hive is a tyrannical group of telekinetics who have used machines to enslave Nebulon. The resistance members know the weakpoints of the machines, but they just don't have the firepower. Spike thinks that Brainstorm's idea of organic partners just might be the ticket. The Autobots agree to allow the Nebulons to use their heads as suits, except for Cerebros, who walks out, tired of fighting. Arcee asks to be Daniel's partner, and Spike agrees. As they remove their heads, Spike decalres that they are about to become Headmasters.

Summary
A violent storm rages, causing significant damage and knocking out power to both Maximal and Predacon bases. While the Maximals stash their extra ammo deeper in their ship's hold to prevent undue accidents, Waspinator attempts to get a Darksyde computer console online...only to be greeted by a ghostly, shrill voice from it. A power surge hits the bugbot soon afterwards, and when the other Preds begin to wonder what has happened to him, in he comes, announcing his return "at long last" in the same eerie voice.

The voice belongs to Starscream, air commander of the Decepticon forces and second in command to the original Megatron, whose spark had been tumbling through time and space for an unknown number of years before settling within Waspinator; as he puts it, he was destroyed defending Megatron from the Chaos Bringer Unicron, but his spark endured. As a show of his good faith, he pledges his loyalty to the Predacon Megatron, revealing vital information about the state of the Maximal base due to the storm that he could use to plan a sneak attack. Intrigued by the idea, Megatron accepts Starscream into his ranks, but warns Scorponok in private to watch their new ally closely.

The next day, as the Maximals are making repairs to their base, they are suddenly attacked by the Preds, Starscream's intel proving very useful in catching them off-guard. In the ensuing firefight, Dinobot is inured and the Decepticon Air Commander flies rings round Optimus, forcing the Maximals to abandon ship and regroup outside. Happy with their victory, Megatron puts Starscream in charge of holding the Axalon, with Scorponok and Blackarachnia under his command, while the rest of the Preds return to their base, in case the Maximals decide to go for a sneak attack of their own. Once they're alone, though, BA shows off her knack for history by correctly pointing out to Starscream that he was murdered by Galvatron (the Unicron-reborn Megatron) after he betrayed the Decepticon commander; she's willing to keep this a secret, though, if she's let in on his real plans: to destabilize Megatron's control and rule both factions.

Deep in the forest, as the Maximals recover, Optimus voices his confusion and concern over Waspinator's new personality; he isn't entirely convinced he is possessed by the spark of Starscream, but as the Maximal Elders had long since sealed the Decepticon's records, they're not able to confirm or deny it, either. Fortunately, Dinobot's as much of a military history buff as BA is, commenting on how Webster's Cybertronian Dictionary has pretty much replaced all definitions of "traitor" with Starscream's name. Are you pondering what I'm pondering, Optimus?

He is. Returning to the Axalon, the Maximals call Starscream out to announce their surrender, citing the need to use the ship's RC Chamber to repair Dinobot's (now exaggerated) wounds. Feeling generous, the Decepticon Air Commander allows Optimus and Dinobot to come on board, but as predictably as night follows day, betrays them and strips Optimus of his weapons and locks him up in the hold as soon as he steps on deck. With their leader now his prisoner, Starscream orders the other Maximals to attack the Darksyde, over the token objections of Scorponok. They comply, and the trap is set.

Unbeknown to the Air Commander, he's been duped by the oldest trick in the book; by allowing himself to be betrayed, Optimus has put himself and Dinobot in the perfect position to retake their base, which they do in a dazzling display that forces Starscream to retreat back to Pred territory. Optimus pursues, and manages to best the Decepticon in an aerial dogfight, leaving him grovelling at the Maximal's feet...until Blackarachnia shows up, prompting Starscream to plead for her aide, believing they can still complete their coup. No dice; this new generation is much less gullible than their ancestors, and BA has skillfully pulled off a double-cross on the double-crosser, igniting a small energon cache underneath Starscream to "exorcise" the Decepticon's spark from Waspinator's body.

At the end of the day, Megatron gets done fixing the now-normal Waspinator as BA explains her betrayal; if she didn't, she maintains, she wouldn't have been able to sniff out Starscream's true motives. This is seemingly accepted as a viable excuse by the Predacon commander, but he warns her that it still doesn't invoke confidence in her loyalties. Back at the Axalon, the Maximals are finishing up repairs of their own...everyone but Cheetor, who's slacking off with a bout of stargazing, quipping "Twinkle, twinkle, little Starscream" as the camera pans up to beyond the planet's orbit, showing Starscream's spark screaming mech fluid-drenched vengeance on all within the Beast Wars as he drifts away into the void...

Quotes
Waspinator: What is this, program will not respond! Waspinator does not understand!<br>
Starscream: I'll bet Waspinator seldom does, but try not to let is depress you, bug face!

Megatron: Starscream, perhaps the centuries of weightlessness have taken a toll on your neurological circuitry.

Rhinox: I'd say it's tramplin' time.

Notes
Continuity Inquiries
*Megatron knew a great deal about Cybertronian history, yet apparently did not know the real nature of Starscream and his demise. However, Megatron might have been playing dumb to lure Starscream into being bolder with his actions. It should also be of note that both the Predacon and Maximal Elders had a large portion of his records sealed due to his history.
*Oddly, despite being born from a Maximal Protoform, Blackarachnia refers to the Decepticons as "our" (the Predacons) ancestors.
*For some reason, Inferno is absent for the entire episode.

Transformers references
*Obviously, Starscream himself firmly ties Beast Wars to established G1 history.
*Starscream's spark, or "ghost" as it was then called, had possessed several Decepticons (including Cyclonus, Scourge, and Trypticon) in the G1 episodes "Starscream's Ghost" and "Ghost in the Machine."
*During the episode, if you look closely, one of Waspinator's Predacon insignias on the side of his cranium changes into Decepticon insignia while Starscream's spark is inhabiting his superstructure.
* This is the first episode of Beast Wars to refer to the Autobots and Decepticons, revealed here as the ancestors of the Maximals and Predacons respectively. Incidentally, this is the first episode to refer to any G1 characters and events at all. It begins here, folks!!

Real-World references
*Optimus Primal says "Hasta la vista, Starscream." This is a reference to Terminator 2.
*As he flies away immediately after saying this, Optimus Primal is seen wearing a pair of sunglasses. This may or may not be a reference to the same movie.
Summary
Primal watches a bolt of lightning shatter a mountain, revealing a cache of Energon. Because of the hazardous conditions, he radios to his team to abort their current operation. The storm garbles the transmission, though, preventing the other Maximals from receiving it. The mission, by the way, involves energon monitoring devices, designed by Rhinox, who has just gotten done building the last of them. Impatient to get going, Cheetor carelessly plays with one of Dinobot's projects - a time bomb - and accidentally drops it out the floor hatch...where it's caught by a returning Primal, who reiterates his order for the mission to be scrubbed. Everyone's clearly upset over the development, not believing the storm to be that severe, yet, but Primal is adamant; it'll have to wait until later. Dejected, everyone returns to quarters to wait out the storm.

In Cheetor's quarters, Dinobot meets with the catbot and endorses the mission being continued regardless of the danger from the weather and the Energon; he points out that Primal clearly treats Cheetor like a child, and with his speed, the catbot could easily outrun the storm and plant the devices before it hits. This appeal to vanity works, and Cheetor sneaks out to complete the mission.

In the field, he plants survey apparatuses in quick succession, but a bolt of lightning causes the cat to accidentally plant one of the posts dangerously close to an energon vein. He tries to remove the device and correct his mistake, but in the middle of struggle a second lighting bolt hits, and he finds himself suddenly teleported - onto a control panel in the Predacon base!

Terrorsaur welcomes Cheetor and attacks the Maximal, but Cheetor grabs a hover-platform and tries to escape. After being knocked off the platform, Cheetor lunges at Terrorsaur and pushes the Predacon onto the control panel the Maximal arrived on, causing Terrorsaur to vanish. Scorponok and Waspinator arrive and chase Cheetor around the Predacon base, but lose him in the Darksyde's ventilation shafts.

Meanwhile, Terrorsaur finds himself in the Axalon command center, where he's given a warm reception by Dinobot. However, the former Predacon is more concerned over how the pteranodon arrived, eventually working out that a freak combination of the survey devices, the storm, and the energon created a transporter link between the two bases. Using this to his advantage, Terrorsaur seems to convince Dinobot into forming an alliance, swearing to rid themselves of both factions and rule together...until Dinobot drops the charade and unceremoniously flushes the Pred out of the Axalon through a waste disposal unit.

Back on the Darksyde, Cheetor continues to run through the Predacon base, avoiding fire from Waspinator. He sneaks away from the two long enough to determine that both bases sit on a common underground Energon vein - an explosion at one base would cause a chain reaction that would obliterate both ships. Cheetor is discovered as soon as he outputs this data to a disk.

On the Maximal base, Primal confronts Dinobot on Cheetor's whereabouts; Dinobot tells him about the link and how the catbot has "surely" been destroyed by now, but convinces him that they could use the link to annihilate the Pred base with the bomb, a plan Primal only agrees to as long as the bomb's timer is set with enough time to allow the Preds to evacuate. Just as the bomb is sent, though, Cheetor tosses the disk with the data on the energon vein onto the console, transporting both items simultaneously. Cheetor is cornered just then, but by that time, the bomb has magnetically locked itself onto the Pred console, forcing the Preds to let the catbot go so he can release it. With a few seconds left, Cheetor throws it up to Terrorsaur, who flies it out of the base (and is blown up with it), while Cheetor escapes through the link...just as he's shot at by the Preds, the errant shots destroying the console instead. Furthermore, his return trip to the Axalon shatters all of the survey posts he's planted, ensuring the link is severed for good.

Afterwards, Rhinox and Rattrap congratulate Cheetor's prevention of the Maximal base from being destroyed by their own explosive. But Primal commands Cheetor to take more care to obey direct orders. Cheetor says he will (except when he doesn't) and scampers off - leaving Rhinox and Rattrap to have a jolly laugh.
Megatron challenges Optimus to a one on one battle to end the war.

Major Characters (in order of appearance): Constructicons, Megatron, Starscream, Optimus Prime

Minor Characters (in order of appearance): Ironhide, Dinobots

Original Air Date: Saturday December 15, 1984

Summary
A busy construction site is attacked by driverless construction equipment, and several components are stolen. The construction vehicles return to Decepticon headquarters and are revealed to be the newly built Constructicons. The components they stole are parts to a machine that will allow Megatron to absorb the power chip rectifiers from his Decepticon warriors.

While the final preparations are completed on the machine, Megatron flies to Autobot headquarters and makes Optimus Prime an offer he can’t refuse. Megatron offers Prime a one on one battle with the winner staying on Earth to do as he pleases, and the loser taking his army and exiling themselves to deep space. Prime, confident in his own abilities, accepts the challenge and sets the match.

Knowing that Prime would be unable to resist a chance to honorably end their conflict, Megatron returns to the Decepticon base and uses the newly completed machine to gain all of the special powers of his warriors. Skywarp’s teleportation, Thundercracker’s sonic boom, Rumble’s seismic attack, etc. Knowing that Megatron would now be unbeatable, Starscream voices concerns that the Autobot computer Teletraan I would be able to detect what Megatron had done. Anticipating this problem, Megatron dispatches the Constructicons to take care of the computer.

The two armies arrive at the battle site, and the contest begins. Megatron unleashes a barrage of powers, (while Starscream gives a running commentary) and Prime is outclassed at every step. Not knowing that he has been deceived, Prime concedes the fight and comments that he underestimated Megatron. The shocked Autobots begin the trek back to base, and the Decepticons follow to make sure they leave.

Meanwhile, the Constructicons have nearly tunneled their way into the Ark and Teletraan-I. Teletraan-I, sensing the imminent danger, activates the Dinobots. The Dinobots respond and start pounding on the Constructicons opening up a lava channel in the process. The battle not going in their favor, the Constructicons pull out one last trick and combine into the super warrior, Devastator. The returning Autobots see the battle, but are unable to help. Inside the Ark, Teletraan-I is able to show that Megatron cheated, and the Autobots rush outside to help the Dinobots.

Distracted by one of Hound’s holograms, Devastator is shot by Optimus Prime and falls apart and into the lava. The other Decepticons are routed by the Autobots and also pushed into the lava. There is much rejoicing.

Notable Quotes
"But I need my power chip rectifier. Besides, the Cybertron Code of Combat states that each combatant must fight as they are -- without additional reinforcements. You wouldn't want to cheat, would you, leader?" <br>
"I will win by any means! At any cost. Even if it means terminating you, Starscream!" <br>
"I was only making a legal point..." <br>
-- Starscream and Megatron.

"Let's see how he likes my new shockblast cannon! [The cannon explodes in his hands] ...It's a shock, alright." <br>
-- Wheeljack

"It's no use, Scrapper. They've brought in the heavy artillery." <br>
"Then it's time we did the same -- only heavier!"
<br>
-- Hook and Scrapper as the Constructicons prepare to merge into Devastator for the first time.

"Nothing defeats the Devastator! Nothing!" <br>
"Nothing, little one? What would you say about me? HAHAHA!" <br>
-- Devastator and a "Giant Autobot".

"Is it really over, Optimus? I mean, have we seen the last of this war forever?" <br>
"Who can say, Spike? In this vast universe, is anything truly... forever?" <br>
-- Spike and Optimus Prime, with a question that is quickly answered, at least for the audience.

"We... shall... rise... AGAIN." <br>
-- Megatron floating in lava.

Other Notes
Technical/Animation Glitches
*The Rhino DVD version of this episode is full of animation errors that do not appear in the original broadcast version (as a result of incomplete film masters being used for the DVD), as well as crude attempts made by Rhino to fix some of these errors.
*When Megatron descends to speak to the Autobots, and at two points during the duel with Optimus Prime, he is colored dark grey.
*When Megatron laughs maniacally after being infused with the power of the other Decepticons, his head is disproportionally small, and his Decepticon insignia moves independently of his body.
*When Megatron talks to Starscream after that, the two rectangular things on Starscream's chest are colored white instead of black.
*In the Rhino DVD version, when the Constructicons move out to dig the passage to the Autobot headquarters, Mixmaster is constantly moving a bit back and forth while driving, as if the animation frames are not ordered properly.
*During the duel between Optimus Prime and Megatron, where are the Autobots seen in the background sitting, in midair?
*In the Rhino DVD version, when Skywarp boasts that Megatron acquired the power of teleportation from him, he is colored like Starscream, who is seen sitting right next to him.
*When the Autobots cheer inside their headquarters, Bumblebee's insignia is missing.

Continuity Errors
*The Constructicons' origin would be one of the most confusing and inconsistent of the series. In "Heavy Metal War", Megatron states that they were recently built on Earth; however, in the second season episode The Secret of Omega Supreme, Omega reveals that millions of years earlier he befriended the then-benevolent Constructicons and that they would be subsequently reprogrammed by Megatron as a combining force for evil. Further complicating the Constructicons origins is a flashback in Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4 where the Constructicons are shown creating Megatron, which contradicts the origin of being built on Earth.
*Where were you on THAT one, Flint Dille?
*The building site ruined and from which the components were stolen from by the Constructicons was actually a power plant that one of the construction workers stated to be able to provide whole planet with limitless energy. Evidently wasting the opportunity to harvest endless energy and fighting petty duels with Optimus Prime while being able to cheat is much more fun in the optics of Megatron than sticking to the old plan of acquiring as many energon cubes as possible and conquering the universe.
*Ironhide is apparently able to detect the Decepticons by himself, without relying on Teletraan I. However, in "The Ultimate Doom, Part 1", the Autobots were unable to detect the approaching Decepticons with Teletraan sabotaged.
*Was it really wise for Optimus to bring all the Autobots outside to watch the duel, thus leaving the headquarters undefended?
* It's strange that Starscream should point out the legal standings on Megatron's cheating and suggest he try to fight honorably; Decepticons by their very nature are treacherous and manipulative, and even if he's afraid of empowering Megs even more, surely he couldn't pass up an opportunity to crush the Autobots (like the plan almost did, for a while).

Transformers References
*This episode introduces the Constructicons and Devastator.

*This episode is also the "source" of the aborted "Lava Bath Safety" deco for the original Megatron toy.

Miscellaneous Trivia
*During Teletraan's montage of the sources of Megatron's acquired powers, the descriptions for the individual Decepticons are verbatim quotes from the Transformers Series Bible's "Decepticon Rolecall" page, albeit including several lost-in-translation typographical errors ("Decepticon Lider", "Decepticon Commicator", "Sky Warp"). The most notable of those is Rumble (misspelled as "Runble") being identified as a "red robot". Furthermore, the seemingly random numbers listed on those screens are actually Hasbro's product codes for the respective toys. Interestingly enough, even Reflector is given a product number, even though he was never released at mass retail. However, the renditions of the Decepticons are not the official model sheets for those characters, but rather all-new drawings.
Summary
With Megatron a prisoner and the Predacons scattered, the Maximals prepare to wrap things up. Optimus Primal summons Silverbolt to his office and comes down on him about Blackarachnia. Silverbolt points out that she was originally a Maximal protoform and that he himself was a Predacon once, but Primal counters that Blackarachnia is evil to the core, whereas Silverbolt just didn't know any better. He confines Silverbolt to quarters and dispatches Cheetor to deal with Blackarchnia, despite Silverbolt's request to be sent, if only to protect Cheetor.

In his cell, Megatron berates Ravage for siding with the Maximals, to which Ravage responds that Megatron is an inferior leader when compared to his namesake. Megatron also points out that Ravage's ship is depleted of energon. He offers a stash of cubes for his freedom, but Ravage reveals he already knows the stash's location, as Tarantulas is a Lieutenant in the Predacon Secret Police. Cheetor prepares to go out for Blackarachnia, but first apologizes to Silverbolt, who also apologizes&mdash;for the punch he gives Cheetor right afterward. Escaping, Silverbolt locates Blackarachnia following Waspinator to a mountain. Silverbolt begs her to come in, but Blackarachnia claims to have no feelings for him at all. To prove her point, she shoots him. But as Silverbolt points out, it was non-fatal, saying she does care for him and won't simply kill him. While they are distracted, the hoverpod they're in rams into Waspinator, shattering both, but Silverbolt saves Blackarachnia. (Waspinator is out of luck, as usual.)

Heading for the energon cubes, Optimus and Cheetor discover that they are actually unstable crystals and part of a trap by Megatron. Inferno attacks, but soon suffers from energon buildup. Inferno then ignites the crystals in an attempt to destroy them all. The chain reaction destroys the mountain and seemingly incinerates Inferno, but Optimus and Cheetor manage to escape. Once they're safe, Optimus informs Ravage of what happened.

At his ship, Ravage confronts Megatron over his treachery. Megatron points out that Ravage intends to kill them all, Maximal and Predacon. Ravage admits to this and arms the vessel's internal autoguns. Desperate, Megatron reveals he had ulterior motives for stealing the Golden Disk, something which could affect the Great War. Ravage doubts him, pointing out the Disk's destruction, but allows Megatron to convince him. Released from his power bonds, the Predacon commander reveals that he still has a fragment of the Disk, and it holds proof that Ravage will believe&mdas;a message from Megatron, the leader of the Decepticons. Noting his potential defeat, Megatron left instructions for the descendants of the Decepticons to use transwarp technology to travel back in time to Ancient Earth. Although the message cuts out partway through, the Predacon's gambit succeeds: Ravage, moved by the sight of his former leader, releases Megatron.

At the mountain, Blackarachnia and Silverbolt discover that Megatron was already there, having dug a tunnel and then sealed it. Blackarachnia attempts to make Silverbolt leave, but finally accepts his help. As Optimus and Cheetor return to the Axalon, Rattrap radios Optimus, telling him they no longer need to depend on Ravage&mdash;he's switched sides! As Ravage transforms to interface with his ship, the Predacons launch an attack.
Rattrap and Airazor reach the site, which is a large circular plaza of stone, pulsing with energy and containing a stable energon crystal. When Airazor tries to scan it, it zaps her, blasts Rattrap away, and engulfs the entire site inside an organic dome-like structure with Airazor inside

Airazor awakens inside the "nutty alien bungalow", where a garbled alien voice speaks to her. She assures the aliens she means them no harm -- but they have no such compunctions, and painfully scan her until she converts to beast mode. After the scan ends, they are left with one word of information: "Cybertron."

Outside, Waspinator arrives to "secure the area", but Rattrap drives him off with a vigorous bout of fisticuffs.

Primal arrives, surveys the situation. Rattrap's efforts to cut through the dome structure are ineffective. Megatron arrives with Terrorsaur and Scorponok, the latter of whom fires a "toxic sting" that eats through the structure. Primal and Rattrap venture inside; Rattrap drags the semi-conscious Airazor out, while Primal stays to confront the aliens. A series of whip-like metal tentacles ensnare him and lift him up into an agonizing scanning grid.

Tarantulas and Blackarachnia have made their way to the Maximal base, where Blackarachnia activates a device that creates a small opening in the shields. The spider move in, unaware that they are being followed by Inferno, who notes that they're up to no good and develops his own entry by digging a tunnel below ground.

Rattrap pulls Airazor out thorough Scorponok's opening just before it self-seals, to find himself facing Predacon guns -- the truce is over.

Primal's scan ends, and to address him, the aliens take the form of a "figure of authority" -- the head of Unicron. The aliens tell him that the Transformers have contaminated their experiment, which will be "sterilized". Primal pleads for a chance to fix the damage, and for the lives of the planet's native creatures, but the aliens are dismissive, citing greater dangers unknown to Primal. The conversation ends with the aliens activating a "termination sequence".

The alien construct begins to pulse with building energy. The distraction proves enough for Rattrap and Airazor to overpower the Predacons. With renewed urgency, Primal breaks his bonds and flies right through the dome; the Maximals beat a hasty retreat -- as the dome bursts open, spewing a directed geyser of energy into the sky. The energy activates hidden systems on the second moon, burning away its earthen surface to reveal an endless grid of weapon-like emplacements that being powering up. The moon itself begins to change its shape, and the alien energies cause the orbiting stasis pods to tumble out of orbit.

Rhinox observes all this at the Maximal base, taking measures to track what's happening even as the sensors begin to fritz out. Thus engaged, he doesn't see the spiders coming up behind him till it's too late. Dinobot is likewise gunned down in short order. Staring at Rhinox's displays, Blackarachnia wonders what they're looking at, to which Tarantulas replies: "The beginning... of the end."

Quotes
Optimus arrives at the alien site after Rattrap has brutalized Waspinator.<br>
Optimus: I swear, I can't take you anywhere!<br>
Rattrap: Hey, e-heh, just keeping the peace.

Airazor: We can't leave Optimus in there.<br>
Rattrap: Hey, ours it not to reason why, but to blow dis joint before we die!

Alien-Unicron: It is too late. You and your enemies have already contaminated the project. The harm has been done. That which does not become part of the one - shall become void.<br>
Optimus: No - wait! We can fix whatever damage's been done.<br>
Alien-Unicron: We are not interested, the experiment will be sterilized.

Notes
*When the Vok appear before Optimus Primal, they take the form of Unicron's head. This is just a visual reference and is not meant to suggest any connection between the aliens and Unicron. In fact, later episodes imply just the opposite.
*"Scan complete, this is the specimen we analysed before."- The Vok previously analysed Optimus in Chain of Command
* This is the first episode with a title consisting of "Other" followed by a "V" word. This is a trend of alien-centric episodes which is carried on by Other Visits, Part 1, 2, and Other Victories.
*This is perhaps the only episode of Beasties without an appearance from Cheetor.
*The Unicron hologram's statement "That which does not become part of the one - shall become void." May be a very twisted referance to a certian autobot mantra, but then again this won't be the last time someone will miss the point of the saying, just ask Megatron.
** It may also be a reference to a similar quote attributed to the real Unicron, which itself references his desire to consume everything and make it "one with the void".
*Bob Forward has said this was originally meant to be a 4-parter but the plans were changed at the last minute -"Apparently anything more than a two-parter is too hard to schedule".

*After Waspinator is... defeated by Rattrap, he actually talks with an even higher pitched voice. Sigh, talk about humanizing
No Decepticon has a stronger loyalty to Megatron than Ravage. One of Soundwave's most reliable spies, Ravage believes unwaveringly in the Decepticon cause, and Megatron embodies that cause. To better serve Megatron and the Decepticons, Ravage has become the most efficient and deadly war machine under his command. He hides himself in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike with grim accuracy. His name is synonymous with stealth. His survivors are few.

Ravage was loyal bodyguard for the Overlords, the Autobots that once ruled all of Cybertron, for generations. He witnessed as their planet-wide rule crumbled into a loose collection of feuding city-states. Like ancient Rome, the last Overlord barely managed to hold together the autocracy through the gladiatorial games, which allowed the city-states to vent their frustrations over low fuel supplies on each other in scripted, controlled conflicts. A war broke out between Vos and Tarn, however, and Ravage and his partner Nightstalker attempted to escort the Overlord to safety. Joined by the gladiators Megatron and Optimus Prime, their journey was perilous. The Overlord was now an enfeebled mechanoid who required constant re-energization to survive, and constantly slowed them down. After Prime raced ahead to get help, Nightstalker self-destructed himself in a final loyal act to defend the Overlord, leaving the ruler alone with Megatron and Ravage. Though the Overlord was near death, Ravage refused to give the Overlord any of his energy, instead allying himself with Megatron, whom he believed would be the future ruler of Cybertron. State Games!

As a member of Megatron's Decepticons, Ravage attempted to hijack the Ark four million years ago, only to fail and fall into deactivation sleep until 1984. The detonation of the volcano in Mount St. Hilary reactivated the Autobots and Decepticons, unleashing their war on Earth. Ravage acted as the top spy for his leader.

Shortly into their stay on Earth, the ever-treacherous Starscream attempted to build up support against Megatron by demanding action when Megatron cautioned patience, knowing his fellow Decepticons were getting restless for battle. Fearing that an outright execution of Starscream would turn popular opinion against him, Megatron asked Ravage to spy on the Seeker and find him an excuse to get rid of Starscream. Ravage was discovered, though, and critically injured by Starscream during their fight. Ravage managed to crawl home across the desert, however, and reported the betrayal to Megatron.

Having dishonored himself by attacking his fellow Decepticon, Starscream was forced to engage in a trial by combat with the Autobot Brawn, who had fallen into a similar situation by unrelated circumstances. After defeating Brawn in combat and flying back to Decepticon headquarters to declare his victory, Starscream was shot down by the vengeful Ravage on Megatron's orders. Ravage reported the Autobots were responsible for the attack, and thus Megatron was able to galvanize the Decepticons for battle himself, effectively stealing Starscream's thunder and punishing the mutineer in the process. The Enemy Within!

As the Decepticons assaulted the Ark, Ravage fought against the magnetic Autobot Windcharger, employing his own electromagnetic shield to protect himself from his opponent's powers. When Optimus Prime attempted to awaken the ship's computer Auntie during the battle, however, she awoke in a scrambled state and turned against all the Transformers, using magnetic force to hold all the combatants against her hull...except for Ravage and Windcharger. Forced to work together for the benefit of both their armies, they managed to deactivate Auntie. Raiders of the Last Ark

Time passed, as did leadership of the Decepticons...several times. Still, Ravage remained the dutiful soldier, and was at one point assigned to watch over "Robot-Master", really a human named Donny Finkleberg who was unwillingly helping the Decepticons sow mistrust of the Autobots among the human population. When the human escaped their coal shaft base during an Autobot offensive, Ravage took off after his prey. But after getting into a confrontation with the Autobot named Skids, Ravage was sent tumbling down a mine shaft and rendered inoperative on impact. Showdown!

He was eventually awakened by a series of earth tremors, set off by the time storm raging throughout the universe. Finding much had changed since his deactivation, Ravage stumbled into the underground bunker of none other than "Megatron" and Galvatron. Initially siding with his old leader(s?), Ravage was soon surprised to learn the fate of the entire timestream was at stake. He abandoned the battle and sought out the reclusive Shockwave, and managed to use logic to convince the mentally shaky Decepticon to give up the body of Cyclonus and toss it into the timestorm, ending the threat to the present and future. Time Wars

In the aftermath, he hooked up with Megatron and they returned to Cybertron to seek new fortunes. In the Decepticon capital city of Helex, though, they found Autobots wandering around unmolested, and the area free of Decepticon supervision. After deposing the inadequate Triumverate, Megatron established a new beachhead for his conquests, with Ravage by his side. The Fall and Rise of the Decepticon Empire Before long, though, Ravage's Megatron was destroyed by the original Megatron, who revealed that the Megatron from Time Wars was a reconstruction of Lord Straxus. Two Megatrons!

Ravage eventually resurfaced on Earth, working with Starscream and Shockwave in an auxillary Decepticon army, planning to overthrow then-leader Scorponok. Eye of the Storm! Their plans were placed on hold when Primus summoned all the Transformers of Earth to Cybertron to do battle for Unicron. Ravage was not seen again after the war against the Chaos-Bringer. On the Edge of Extinction!

One of the original team of Decepticons that accompanied Megatron on the attack of the Ark spacecraft, Ravage was reformatted by Teletraan I as an audiocassette to better blend in for operations based on Earth. Ravage served loyally as a Decepticon spy. He was one of the first Transformers to have been encountered by a human, as workers investigating a destroyed power station fell afoul of Ravage who pounced upon them and frightened them away. More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1

Shortly thereafter, Ravage accompanied Soundwave on an infiltration mission to gather data from Teletraan 1. Though Soundwave was discovered, Ravage was captured in an energy net and held captive. More Than Meets the Eye, Part 2 The Decepticon spy figured into a disinformation plot hatched by the Autobots, who purposely leaked the presence of a rocket fuel depository in the outlying desert. In truth, there was no rocket base -- Autobot Hound projected a holographic illusion in the hopes of luring the Decepticons into a trap. The Autobots allowed Ravage to escape and report back to Megatron, who easily saw through the ruse. More Than Meets the Eye, Part 3

During Megatron's gladiatorial match with Optimus Prime, Ravage was let out to watch his master battle their nemesis. Soundwave also petted him. This would be cute if it wasn't creepy. Heavy Metal War

During Megatron's attempt to convince the humans that the Decepticons were good and the Autobots were evil, Ravage was dispatched to track down Spike Witwicky when the human searched for evidence that would exonerate the Autobots. Cornering the flesh creature in a studio control room, Ravage had a door closed on him, was electrocuted by a control panel, and had a shelf filled with video cassettes pushed onto him. To make Ravage feel better, Soundwave took Ravage along with the other cassettes to a teen dance party, where Ravage was a big hit with the ladies. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2

Some time later, Ravage, along with Starscream, Thrust, and Soundwave, were transported to a planet with massive inhabitants, along with a group of Autobots, in a space bridge accident. The first creature they encountered, Aron, thought the Decepticons were toys. Ravage attempted to escape, but Aron's cat Nitro chased after Ravage like a mouse (how embarrassing). Aron put him with his pet hamster, Blooper, in his cage. Instead of immediately asserting his dominance by killing the beast, Ravage went and ran on the creature's exercise wheel. When captured by scientists, they attempted to disect the Transformers, but Ravage was able to pick his locks and free the Decepticons, who hijacked the Autobots light beam to head back to Earth...and landed in a lake filled with alligators. That was a very bad day for Ravage. Child's Play (episode)
He was then kept Status Locked in Cassete-mode inserted his future/past self's Tapedeck, in order to provide his body with a "Life Essence Nucleus", as part of the I.I.I's "X-9 Revival Plan". Ravage, with a much more arboreal alt mode, was part of the second assassination team Megatron sent after the new Autobot Supreme Commander Optimus Prime. Ravage got savaged.
Millions of years later, Ravage was a member of a team of Transformers controlled by Lazarus and sent to destroy an oil refinery. Ravage, always loyal to Soundwave, seemed to switch to Shockwave's side when they traveled to Cybertron. Unfortunately for him, he tried to tackle Starscream and got a mouthful of energy blast.

IDW comics continuity
Ravage can talk. Seriously. He was last seen chained in a Skywatch facility alongside Laserbeak. And he hasn't seen Megatron or Soundwave in twenty years. He's not in a good mood, but this was rendered moot when Skywatch reprogrammed him to track down the other Transformers. Time will tell if Skywatch's programming is stronger than Ravage's loyalty to the Decepticons. Devastation, Part 1
Starscream sent Ravage to kill Tobias Muldoon, who had deserted the Decepticons when he learned they were evil. Ravage tracked him to Stanford Merriweather's house in San Francisco, and crashed into the household, startling Muldoon, Merriweather, Merriweather's daughter Kitty, and Mark Twain.

He then pretty much got his ass kicked by Mark Twain, who took advantage of Ravage being momentarily trapped in rubble to flick a cigar at him, thus igniting a gas leak. The explosion flung Ravage into the bay, never to be seen again.

Ravage is one of the few Decepticon warriors who was granted amnesty at the end of the Great War and reformatted into a Predacon, complete with classy Russian accent. He was sent by the Tripredacus Council to capture Megatron, clean up any messes he might have made, and deal with the rest of the beast warriors. (Whether this translated to "kill them all" in the minds of the Tripedacus Council is unclear, but that was apparently Ravage's intent.) Ravage made the trip to prehistoric Earth in a specially modified stealth Transwarp Cruiser. He successfully contacted the Maximals and allied with them to capture Megatron. Due to the stealth capabilities of his ship, and the fact that Tarantulas was also an agent of the council, Ravage and the Maximals easily captured Megatron and imprisoned him. The Agenda, Part 1

Megatron, however, had one more card to play. He knew that Ravage wasn't going to let any of the Beast warriors live, and also knew he had the one thing that would turn Ravage to his side. Using a fragment from the Golden Disk, Megatron showed Ravage something which shocked him&mdash;a message from Megatron, the leader of the Decepticons. As a safeguard against potential defeat, Megatron left instructions for the descendants of the Decepticons to use transwarp technology to return to prehistoric Earth. Although the message cuts out before it is finished, Megatron's plan worked: Ravage, moved by the sight of his former master, released Megatron. After Megatron explained the rest of the message, Ravage joined the Predacons and turned on the Maximals. Megatron and Ravage attack Cheetor and Optimus, at which point he transformed into his old mini-casette alt-mode, jumped into the tape player on his ship, and started playing wicked guitar solosThe Agenda, Part 2

His latest treachery was short-lived. During the assault on the Axalon, Rattrap infiltrated his ship and caused an explosion that destroyed the vessel and Ravage himself. As the inferno headed toward the bridge, Ravage raised a fist and shouted, "Decepticons forever!" to whomever heard or cared. The Agenda, Part 3

His head, seemingly all that remained of him, was knocked into the water below the Axalon by one of Tarantulas' spider-drones. Optimal Situation

Magmatron recovered Ravage's heavily-damaged torso, which still contained his spark. He then inserted the spark into a blank protoform, and Ravage was reborn. In his Transmetal 2 body, he and his fellow Predacons, under the command of Magmatron, sought out Razorbeast's band of Maximals. Viewing from a safe distance, Ravage ordered his soldiers to engage. Additional Maximal forces arrived, however, and Ravage's forces were defeated. Ravage retreated into the wilderness. The Gathering

Subsequently, Ravage would utilize all the Predacons under his command in a desperate attack as a diversion while he crept into the Maximal base to steal the chronal phase facilitators left behind by Magmatron. He was confronted by Razorbeast, who guessed incorrectly that Ravage intended to use them to board the Autobot shuttle and return to Cybertron. Ravage corrected him by stating that he intended to free Megatron and eradicate the Maximal forces. His ambitions however were thwarted by Snarl who caught him off guard and gave Razorbeast the opportunity to knock Ravage offline. The Ascending, Part 1

It is not certain if Ravage's intentions for Megatron were another ruse or if he was actually out of his kitty mind regarding the tactical feasibility of this endeavor.

However, what WAS a ruse was Ravage being offline - as soon as he had been tied up by Razorbeast, the Maximal commander had to leave to help on the battlefield - upon which Ravage stopped playing dead and broke loose rather easily, managing to obtain the chronal displacement bands that Razorbeast had put him right next to after pointing them out. (A tactical genius, that Razorbeast.) However, upon activating the bands, Ravage was pulled into Chronospace by the trapped Magmatron, who warned him of the apocalypse that was to come, and ordered him to form a truce with the Maximals to fight this menace. And after hearing the warning, Ravage heeded the sage advice, sneaking out of the base while chronically displaced and re-emerging to the sight of several gun barrels from Lio Convoy, Razorbeast, and the Pack. However, just as he explained the situation, Rartorata emerged from nowhere and turned Razorbeast into a Princess Mononoke homage. The Ascending, Part 2

After introducing himself to Lioconvoy, Ravage agreed with him on a truce until they deal with the menace of Shockarakt. Commandeering his Predacons, Ravage's forces defeated Rartorata and Ravage extracted the Anglomois capsule from the belly of the Lionfish/Hornet Fuzor. Ouch. When he told Lioconvoy to abandon the anglomois-infected Razorbeast, the Pack leader warned him that if he made light of his friend's peril again, he'd personally de-spark him... Ravage boarded the Pack's ship and returned to Cybertron with them, on the way analyzing the Anglomois capsule, to come up with an immunizer for the poison. However, as he explained, none of them were qualified scientists for the task. After arriving on Cybertron, Shockarakt blasted the Maximal ship out of the sky. Ravage's fate is uncertain so far.The Ascending, Part 3
{{note|Despite being a continuity that borrows heavily from other G1 continuities, where it is suggested that Ravage is completely loyal to Megatron, before attempting to revive Ravage, Magmatron suggests that Ravage's most important loyalty is to Ravage himself. This could simply be Magmatron's opinion, however, and is not necessarily indicative of Ravage's true loyalties.
Binaltech
The Government-run Intelligence and Information Institute (or Triple-I) unearthed a mysterious black box during an archaeological dig. After years of probing, the container, dubbed "Schrödinger's Box" by the group's scientists, was revealed to be the flight recorder of the Predacon Ravage's stealth ship, containing a copy of the feline's personality and memory engrams, deposited into his vessel before his final blaze of glory The Agenda, Part 2. When the scientists found a way to communicate with this personality, it offered them its knowledge of future events in exchange for a new body. Triple-I agreed, and used a fake Binaltech project (filled under the pretense of "technological synthesis tests"), to provide their part of the bargain. However, to truly bring the new Ravage to life, Triple-I stole the present-day Ravage - who had been captured by the Earth Defense Command and stasis-locked into his cassette mode - and implanted him into the new Ravage, thereby 'fusing' the old and new Ravages into one.

This new Ravage, however, had no intention of fulfilling his end of the bargain and, after eliminating his benefactors and learning to his shock that history did not change in his faction's favor, decided to rectify his mistake. First on his agenda was his former commander, Megatron; stealing an Autobot shuttle, he located and repaired the Kronosphere and - during a decisive battle between Megatron's and Optimus Prime's forces that would have normally ended with the Autobots being forced off of Cybertron and into their moon bases - turned the weapon on his own faction, trapping Megatron and his crew in a space-time rift. This alteration in the timeline served two purposes: first, it would give the Autobots the chance to retake Cybertron, which would then lead to them having to face off against the oncoming Unicron alone, severely weakening them in the process. The second, and more important, purpose was to keep Megatron alive and in good mental health (relatively speaking), thus preventing him from becoming the insane Galvatron, and allowing him to lead the Decepticons to victory over the battle-weary Autobots. Ravage also Transmuted Shockwave into a new Binaltech body of his own, so he could lead the remaining Decepticons in Megatron's absence, and secretly derailed many of the Autobots' supply missions, further weakening them for their battle with the Chaos Bringer.

Unfortunately for him, the Autobot named Overdrive became aware of Ravage's meddling in history, thanks to his acute sensitivity of the timestream, and - with the help of Wheeljack - captured the wayward Decepticon and forced a confession out of him. Ravage, however, was not without a trump card, revealing that his alterations may prevent the deaths of many of the Autobots destined to die in the normal timeline (which, as a distinction between the two, was dubbed 'Prime Time' by Wheeljack, Ravage's altered timeline being called 'Ravage Time'), though in the grand scheme of things, only Optimus could not be considered expendable, as he contained the one thing that could bring down Unicron (the Autobot Matrix of Leadership). By the time of his capture, however, Unicron had already been sighted on a collision course with Cybertron and, despite the temptation of preventing future deaths among his ranks, Optimus decided Ravage's plans to be too dangerous to allow to come to fruition. To that end, he ropes Ultra Magnus into helping him fly to Unicron in a preemptive strike against the monstrous threat, while the other Autobots (left in the command of Skids), were to initiate "Operation: Distant Thunder", which involved sending a copy of Wheeljack's memories of what Ravage confessed to them, back in time to a point prior to the Decepticon panther's meddling, via the energies located on Dinobot Island. If "Operation: Distant Thunder" worked as planned, Ravage's plans would be foiled, and any tremors in the timeline he caused would be smoothed over by "Project Body Shop" (aka, the Binaltech project). However, just as Skids gives the signal to transmit the memory engrams, the Autobot base is rocked by an entire fleet of Decepticons. The Autobots just barely manage to hold off the fleet, ensuring that "Operation: Distant Thunder" proves to be a success (though a black Optimus Prime ends up separating the Binaltech timeline from the original, as supposedly the Binaltech-bodied Transformers have a higher purpose in the grand scheme of things). Whatever happened to Ravage is not known.

15 Go! Go!
After a mystery assailant badly damaged Teletraan I, destroying vital data, the thinly-disguised (actually not-at-all-disguised) "Black Panther Man" stationed on the artificial Earth satellite Nana ordered the mobile computers Teletraan 10 and Teletraan 15 to travel through time collecting data on Transformers of the past and future.

Although his plan was indeed to repair Teletraan I's databanks, Ravage had his own intentions for the information. He had traveled back from the future to the year 2005 in an attempt to use the "bio and tech specs" data stored inside the computer to manipulate the future and create a timeline free of "unnecessary conflict". When he was foiled by the unknown saboteur, he infiltrated the Autobots as Black Panther Man and created the Information Control Center on Nana in order to control the recovery effort.

The bumbling Teletraan 15 (and eventually Teletraan 10 as well) resisted, escaping back in time using Ravage's Transwarp cruiser and becoming the very saboteur that caused her mission to begin. Though annoyed that his scheme had been thwarted, Ravage expressed pride in the independence of his underlings and graciously ejected them into space—a survivable situation for the pair and their Kiss Player cassette friends.

Kids Stuff Read-Along book
Ravage immediately recognized what a hydro electric station was, a method of generating power used on Cybertron "way way back in the mists of time," when Transformers were not much more advanced in science than humans are now.

This suggests that Ravage is among the oldest of the Decepticons (even Megatron only feigned familiarity with this form of technology), or that he's a serious student of ancient energy generation techniques.
: Beast Wars Metals Jaguar is a heavy retooling of Transmetal Cheetor, just as Ravage's robot mode CG model in the show is an altered Transmetal Cheetor. He transforms into a robotic big cat, with flip-out thrusters for a third "flight" mode (not, as in the episode, into a cassette tape that plays wicked 1980's style electric guitar, for obvious reasons). His forearms each have a spring-loaded flip out pistol stub, which can be extended with add-on barrels that clip to his rear legs in beast mode. his tail also can detach to form a whip-weapon, but he doesn't hold it very well.
This is a toy of many "firsts". Not only is it the first Alternators character with two distinctly-different toys, it's one of the first two Decepticon Alternators with an original mold (alongside Rumble). And, it's the first Alternators character to have a non-humanoid "robot" mode, as its non-car form is now a quadrupedal big cat.

: After shipments appeared in various European markets, Ravage and Rumble's releases in the US were questionable for a while. However, it appears they were shuffled to be Wal-Mart exclusives, set in an endcap display alongside the Classics Constructicon exclusive gift-set in March/April of 2007... in some stores. It was, of course, adapted for his Transformers Universe profile , but was also used (twice) in 1985's "back-of-the-box" battle scene , was copied in licensed coloring books and storybooks, and the pose also showed up repeatedly in the Marvel Comics. In "Time Wars Part 2" (Marvel UK #200), artist Robin Smith copied the art multiple times across several subsequent panels. And it was, of course, recolored for Howlback's card-art. Yikes.
* Reportedly, Hasbro wanted to bring Ravage's Jaguar X-9 figure over to the states as part of the Beast Wars 10th Anniversary line, but they couldn't find the mold. Bummer.
Beast Wars: Transformers is a third-person shooting game released for the PC platform in 1996. It was later ported to the Sony Playstation platform.

Players picked their side and sent their Transformers on missions against both the opposing side and the Skriix aliens.
Trivia
* A game model was made for Waspinator with plans to have him in the game, but those ultimately fell through.
* The Beast Wars cast did not reprise their characters' voices for the game, and while their presence would have made the game marginally better, it's probably best that they managed to avoid marching in this crap parade.
* While the Playstation version of the game was limited to a single-player affair, the PC version surprisingly had an option to play with up to 8 people over LAN or online; in fact, for a while during the game's release, the MSN Gaming Zone reserved several rooms for multiplayer Beast Wars games. "Fans" of the game claim this is enough to dredge the game out from being horrible to barely mediocre.

Bruticus tirelessly guards the prisons of the Predacon leader Megatron. He's got just enough brains between his three heads to do his very simple job: make sure Autobot prisoners don't escape, and if they do, smash them.

Toys
Robots in Disguise
*Bruticus (Deluxe, 2001)

: Bruticus transforms into a Cerberus, a mythical three-headed dog. His robot mode continues the motif, with three different dog-shaped faces on his head. his beast-mode hind legs, which end up on his robot mode back, can unfold into a second pair of arms, each one brandishing a (non-removable) melee weapon. His triple tail becomes a flail weapon for robot mode.

: Bruticus' mold was originally developed to be a Maximal for the Beast Machines series. When that series was cut short, apparently the toy had made it far enough into the development process to continue. He has a flip-up chestplate that reveals indications of an intended spark-crystal-activated gimmick (as all second-year Beast Machines toys had). But this gimmick was seemingly abandoned, and it is unknown just what it was meant to do; it has been suggested, due to the shoulder design of the figure, the gimmick would have involved some kind of lunging attack with the two side heads (the ones that turn into the main robot arms).

Trivia
*Bruticus was the first Transformers color layout done by Aaron Archer.
