On seeing [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] crash to the ground in the mountains near his hut, Katsu Don mounted his steed [[Brutalo]] and went to investigate. He recovered Perceptor, who was suffering from transformation lock, and was able to remove the Autobot's [[universal emulator]], hidden behind his Autobot [[insignia]], and use it to repair Nijika. Interrupted by the arrival of two [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]], of which he made short work, Katsu was surprised when Nijika at last spoke—Perceptor had become housed in the small robot as part of the universal emulator. The Autobot was able to extract from Katsu the history of his world and how the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]] had sealed it off from the rest of the universe with a [[quadrant lock]].

Concerned that the Quintessons had returned, Katsu and Perceptor went to the [[Zamojin Empress]] with the news, and they were able to interrupt [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]]'s imminent sacrifice. During the confusion, Nijika was grabbed by [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]]. Katsu grabbed the Decepticon by the legs and was taken aboard the Quintesson spaceship, where he was seized and a device used to torture him. The Quintessons traded Katsu's life for the universal emulator, and he was able to escape with the Autobots.

Fortunately, Perceptor had sabotaged the quadrant lock, releasing Zamojin from its prison. With the Zamojin telepathic network restored, Katsu promised he would someday complete his ancestor's work, and that Nijika would reach the stars. {{storylink|The Face of the Nijika}}

At some time before approximately 2995 BC,<ref>The Quintessons said they had "kept Zamojin imprisoned in darkness for five thousand years" in what is assumed to have been the year 2006.</ref> [[Zamojin (species)|Zamojin]] scientist Niko Don had developed a "flying tower", a rocket which was evidently capable of escaping his planet's atmosphere. However, the [[Zamojin Empress]] of the time forbade Niko Don himself from flying his tower to the stars. Assenting to the Empress's wishes, Niko Don created [[Nijika|Nijika, the Sky-Dancer]], an intelligent gynoid, who would ride the rocket in his stead.

The night of the launch, Niko Don and the Empress presented Nijika to the jubilant citizens of [[Tozin]]. The revelry was cut short, however, as a group of [[Quintesson]]s attacked, damaging both the rocket and Nijika. The Quintessons deployed the [[Quadrant lock]] soon afterwards, depriving the Zamojins of the starlight which enhanced their intelligence—and leaving Niko Don unable to repair his creations.

* The coloring of Niko Don's beard inverts between his long-shot near the Empress and his unveiling of Nijika.
* There is no indication as to the length of a Zamojin's lifespan, making it impossible to tell how many generations came between Niko Don and Katsu Don. In any case, between looking pretty old in the flashback and being referred to as an "ancestor", he was probably long-dead by the time of the episode.
* Niko Don's name is likely a play on nikudon, a Japanese dish of pork on rice. This would make sense given that his descendant, [[Katsu Don]], shares his name with katsudon, a Japanese fried pork dish.
