... You know, if it's going to be "popular" alternate modes, it should be a form that at least, you know, more than two people share. I say three seperate characters (if not three different MOLDS) is the bare minimum. -hx 03:13, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

: Me, I'd say five to six characters, with preferably a minimum of three or four different "molds" (since some of these bodies/characters may end up as fiction-only). Rampant redecoing is kinda cheating. --M Sipher 03:38, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

:: I think we also have to be kind of tough on what counts. For cars, it should be same make and model. For critters, though, I'm gonna have to go with same general species. "Scorpions" seems acceptable to me, but "birds" doesn't. You'd have to do something more like "falcons" or "eagles" for it to seem alright. I dunno why. Also, what do we do with Fuzors? I'm kind of loath to include the Sharkticons and Seacons and shit, but, say, Overbite's bio identifies him as a "shark," while Snapdragon's just calls him a "reptile." -hx 22:11, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

::: For invertebrates, I don't know HasTak have ever made multiple distinct species, so the way we count scorpions and crabs is fine. Spiders might be the exception there. The vertebrate section, however, is a MESS. We have a "wolves" section that excludes the domestic subspecies of Canis lupus, and then an entire order of mammals lumped together as "bats". Vertebrates should probably be broken down by species, although that makes a mess of bears. Breaking it down by genus, though, would lump together the lions, tigers, and jaguars... which is just wrong. -Rotty 23:06, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

::::This just seems to be the way humans think about other animals--there's a strong pro-mammal bias. Every child can identify mammal species on sight ("wolf," "lion," "tiger," "gorilla"), but more distantly related animals are usually known only at the order or even subclass level ("parrot", "shark"). Their kind all look alike. --66.65.149.94 00:48, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

:I think this page is a useful reference whenever three or more characters from multiple molds share a vehicle mode. In the case of rampant redecoing, that mold's section on each character's toy page covers the body-sharing, so we should delete things like the Volkswagen Beetle. -Rotty 03:40, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

::We are getting a section on Tigers, right? -Derik 03:44, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind seeing this article changed from "popular" to "shared," and have no numerical restrictions, just list all specific alt modes that more than one character uses. --KilMichaelMcC 03:58, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

: Then we're basically making the page utterly redundant and useless, since we're talking what, half the TF cast?<br>
: This is looking at the phenomenon of certain alternate mode models popping up more often than others, and across multiple unique toy molds. There are a LOT of unique Dassault Rafale jets in TFdom. A LOT of that Fizzle-style Baja Buggy. A LOT of those huge earth-mover dump-trucks. Two characters having the same altmode over almost 25 years doesn't quite impress, especially considering the sheer amount of redecoing of molds going on. --M Sipher 04:24, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

On an unrelated note, with the section on beast modes containing only lions, tigers, and bears, it's practically crying out for an "Oh My" header. Any Transformers that turn into beasts that are so utterly bizarre no one has any idea what they hell they are? - Dark T Zeratul 08:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

:Enough of them that are similar enough to each other to make up a listing on this page? Without checking, I'd say "probably not". --Sntint 13:57, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
:Frenzy is a Decepticon from the Movie continuity family.

Frenzy is small, sneaky and... likes to keep up on current events. He's a hyper-articulated, hyper-active, sentient evil alien shape-changing robot from outer space that turns into various small electronics devices depending on the situation at hand. But he doesn't shrink (because that would be unrealistic), so he's quite a good contortionist. He's not that tough without his head, and he loses it frequently. In short, he's a creepy little abomination, with an irritating habit of reading over people's shoulders and jibbering at lightning speeds in his own tongue.

He is neither red nor blue.

Ghosts of Yesterday novel
Frenzy is the smallest member of the Nemesis' crew. He likes to sneak-attack from behind Autobots while they're concentrating on his larger teammates. He doesn't fare well in this particular battle but is presumably repaired at some future point.

Transformers (2007) film
:Voice actor: Reno Wilson (English)

A skittering little spaz, Frenzy smuggled himself aboard Air Force One disguised as a CD player boom-box. He made his way to the lower decks, carried by an unsuspecting flight attendant who was on a vital mission to the storage area to "rustle up some Ding-Dongs" for the President. Once left alone, he got into the server area, and began to simultaneously hack the national database and upload a virus, re-attempting the hack that Blackout had tried at the SOCCENT Base in Qatar earlier. This attempt was discovered by government agent Maggie Madsen, and the defense network was shut down in order to half the hack. Frenzy was pissed, but he got the virus uploaded, which would later shut down global communications, and got a little bit of info on what he was looking for.

He was discovered by Secret Service agents, who he quickly dispatched with his machineguns and disc-blade launcher before hiding away in boombox form again. When Air Force One landed, he escaped through the landing gear, slipping into the awaiting Decepticon Barricade. After flipping the military the bird and complaining about how they shot at him, he updated Barricade on their next target... a human called "LadiesMan217".

When Barricade was forced to go to robot mode in order to handle Bumblebee, he released Frenzy to chase the humans the Autobot was guarding. Frenzy managed to tackle his primary target and even managed to get his pants off him (kinky!), but the other human attacked him with a power saw she'd found and cut his head off. To add insult to injury, Sam punted the Decepticon's head away. It was actually to Frenzy's benefit, however, as he landed not too far from Mikaela's purse, which had spilled when Bumblebee had dumped them out earlier. Still alive and ambulatory despite losing most of his body mass, he speared and scanned Mikaela's cel phone, changed his form to match it, and hid out in her purse.

Frenzy stayed hidden, watching the activities of the humans and Autobots until they were taken to Hoover Dam. Frenzy slipped away then... and fell off the side of the dam, landing painfully at the bottom. This did allow him to sneak into the secret Sector Seven operations hangar deep within the damn, where both the AllSpark and Megatron had been kept for nearly a hundred years. He tapped into the AllSpark's power to restore his body, and sent a signal to all the Decepticons on Earth that their prizes were here. He also killed a few technicians, letting him screw with the cryo-stasis machines that kept Megatron entombed, allowing the Decepticon leader to escape.

When Agent Simmons, Secretary Keller, Maggie and Glen Whitmann ran to an ancient storage room to try and get a Morse Code message to the Air Force via shortwave radio, Frenzy followed. While Glen jury-rigged outdated machinery to send the messages, Simmons and Keller tried to shoot the diminutive Decepticon. Frenzy made it into the room via the air ducts, and sent a series of flying blades at the humans. One, however, ricocheted madly across the room, and took out most of Frenzy's head. With a muttered "ohshit", Frenzy collapsed.

:(Note: How fatal this actually was to Frenzy is up for debate. Though presumably his remains would have been gathered up by remaining Sector Seven personnel and disposed of with the other defeated Decepticons, he is not seen again after the storeroom attack. Little bastard could still be out there with the other un-accounted-for Decepticons Barricade and Scorponok.)
* Frenzy (or at very least, a robot who looked just liked him) was most certainly NOT in a cage in the back of the Sector Seven Mobile Command Unit. You were seeing things. It was swamp gas. No wait, a weather balloon. But DEFINITELY not a robot alien from outer space.
Toyline
First previewed in Hasbro's pannel at Botcon 2007.

The Transformers animated toyline successfully merges the more fluid, expressive design style of the cartoon with extremely poseable robot forms (to a degree even Hasbro seemed pleasently surprised by). Unlike the most recent franchises before it there is no line-wide gimick (such as Minicons or Cyberplanet keys) rather transforming IS the gimick, and toys will have other special features that are unique and appropriate to the character they depict. Though the designs have originated with Hasbro and Cartoon Network, Takaratomy is stepping up to the plate once again ot design the toys.

The toyline is currently schedualed to debute ~March 2008 with a special "battle pack" featuring several figures. The full toyline will debute sometime a few months after that.
