In return, Cheetor has grown to idolize Primal, whom he calls "Big Bot." Optimus Primal knows the young and inexperienced Cheetor needs a good role model, so he doesn't mind too much. And, hey, he's a good kid. Just...keep him away from [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], okay? Impressionable minds, and all.

Speaking of bad influences, Cheetor had a brief crush on the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] turncoat [[Blackarachnia]], adding some real tension between him and [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]]. He seems over her now.

After the ''[[Axalon]]'' crash-landed on a mysterious planet, the most youthful crew member of the disabled ship chose a cheetah as his new beast form. Impressed with his own appearance, the young 'bot renamed himself Cheetor.

Far too frequently, Cheetor looked up to Optimus Primal enough to rush out in an all-too eager attempt to prove himself. He seemed to botch as many missions as he carried out successfully; he broke an experimental communicator, rushed into combat, got himself captured by [[Tarantulas]], and set up remote survey posts in the middle of a lightning storm on a bed of unstable energon crystals.

It seems Cheetor also trusted [[Dinobot]] more than the rest of his crew. When Optimus Primal was feared dead, a vote was held to decide whether [[Rattrap]] or [[Dinobot]] would lead the Maximals. Naturally, both parties voted for themselves, but as Rhinox read out the votes, he was only surprised by Dinobot's second vote. This would imply that he did NOT vote for Dinobot, and that it must have been Cheetor. {{Storylink|Chain of Command}}

When the [[quantum surge]] from the explosion of the [[Planet Buster]] engulfed the planet, Cheetor's exostructure was mutated into a shiny new [[Transmetal]] body. Along with a tougher metal hide and built-in weaponry, his beast mode gained the ability to fly via two powerful thrusters in his torso. Unfortunately, his first attempt at flying led him on a one-way trip into a bulkhead. As Rattrap later remarked after a disastrous rescue attempt, a few flying lessons wouldn't have hurt. {{Storylink|Aftermath}}

While supporting [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge's]] attack on Megatron's perverse cloning experiments, Cheetor came in contact with the direct energy beam of the [[transmetal driver]], causing a massive explosion that made his fellow Maximals believe he was dead. However, he was seriously damaged and wandered around for megacycles afterwards, not knowing where he was, before he finally stumbled back to base.

Refusing treatment in the CR chamber, he was prone to hallucinations, panic attacks, paranoia, and delirium. He escaped the base and would rest for hours at a time, only to awaken and find himself somewhere foreign, his gears exhausted. {{Storylink|Feral Scream Part 1}}

In reality, his Transmetal body was in conflict with the alien "Transmetal 2" power infused into it by the transmetal driver. While unconscious, he would undergo a mutation into a feral beast that acted with savagery and aggression. With Optimus Primal's help, he finally gained control of the power and rejoined the rest of the Maximals, who were surprised at the rapid changes to him. {{Storylink|Feral Scream Part 2}}

This "new" Cheetor regularly lost his temper, particularly with Rattrap. Still, he was considerably less reckless, and all of his decisions seemed to have a casual air of confidence and a youthful belief in invincibility. At heart, he was still Optimus's little guy.

At the start of [[Beast Machines]], Cheetor was stripped of his Transmetal 2 power and thrust into a dark and unfriendly world. As a result, he relapsed slightly into the dependent bot that he was at the start of the first series, idolizing Optimus Primal and blindly following orders. However, as he slowly got a handle on his new situation, the maturity Cheetor had gained during the Beast Wars seemed to come full circle. He acted calmer, frequently took over leadership in place of Optimus Primal, and overall behaved more "adult". (The role of "kid" was taken over by [[Nightscream]].)

After Optimus Primal and Megatron fell into the planet's organic core, starting the Cybertron-wide reformatting, the Oracle spoke to Cheetor's mind, possibly suggesting that Optimus Primal had passed his communication abilities to Cheetor as he died.

In beast mode, two rocket boosters can be flipped out of the sides of the cat torso to create a "flight mode", plus his tail rotates 180 to provide a "stabilizer" fin. In robot mode, his removable tail becomes a spiked whip, but he has no ranged weaponry, though you can put his hideous hands together to simulate the "gun" he used on the show. The toy suffers from a design flaw in that the breast plate's hinges that holds both arms up in beast-mode gets a lot of stress on it, and over time, can't hold the cheetah head up properly anymore.

* The first Cheetor toy was originally intended to be part of the first wave of ''Beast Wars'' Deluxes released, but experienced a delayed initial release, coming several weeks afterwards. This was likely due to a change made to his "tail gun", which on the toy is much different from the version glimpsed in catalogues, commercials, and toy packaging cross-sells. The prototype gun is held via a handle on the top side of the tail rather than underneath the haunches and has a small blue gun barrel that flips out. Why this change was made and whether it was the actual cause of the delay are currently unknown.

* Cheetor's design art seems to indicate he wasn't originally designed to be a cheetah...or was at least designed to be generically big-cat-like enough to be other types of feline.

* It's interesting to note that Cheetor fired the first shots of the Beast Wars. First he shot at [[Waspinator]], unprovoked, and again at [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] while [[Optimus Primal|Optimus]] was attempting to negotiate. What a little rascal.

* Aside from [[Tigatron]], Cheetor is the only character in ''[[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]'' who is definitely [[Scale|in the correct scale]] to the lifeform he has adopted as a beast mode. As a result, Cheetor has the odd distinction of being the yardstick by which other ''Beast Wars'' characters' scale inconsistencies can be measured.

* On the other hand, [[#Dx1|Cheetor's original toy]] is ''monstrously'' out of [[scale]] with his fellow Deluxe Class toys and is only scale-compatible with larger toys such as the Ultra-class [[Optimus Primal]].

* [[Mainframe Entertainment]]'s original plan for [[Transmetal]] Cheetor was to have his face mature over the course of the season, from a big-eared, wide-eyed, rounded face into one close to the toy. Also, he would have had a "Hero's Heart" which glowed after completing brave or heroic feats, somewhat akin to the classic anime character "Astro Boy". Due to time and financial restrictions, none of these concepts panned out. Thankfully.

* ''[[Comic Bom Bom]]'' advertisements for the Game Boy Color's ''[[Duel Fight Transformers Beast Wars: Beast Warriors' Strongest Decisive Battle]]'' feature Cheetor with a completely different (and much happier) head than the version which appeared in the game's instruction manual. Both are sickeningly cute, though.

'''Sentinel Prime''' is a member of the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]] under the command of [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]]. Sentinel has a history of rivalry with [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]], who attended the [[Autobot Academy]] with him. In his academy days, he was somewhat of a maverick, leading the more responsible Optimus to refer to him as a "walking malfunction." Of course, he's the one that ended up on the Elite Guard while Optimus was sent off to repair space bridges, of which fact he's all too fond of reminding his former classmate. He also has a bit of a superiority complex toward non-guardsmen Autobots, not to mention that he's intensely organic-phobic.


All things considered, he's kind of a jerk.

His alt-mode is a snow plow truck. He possesses an energy lance and an arm-mounted shield which can be expanded into a force-field, as well as tossed about as a weapon. Basically, he's a knight in shining armor...if he wasn't such a jerk.

Sentinel took Optimus and [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Elita-1]] on a mission looking for an old Decepticon warship, hoping to get all the [[energon]] stored within. However, they ran into a pack of massive arachnids. Sentinel tried to hold them off long enough for Optimus and Elita to escape. When he came across a ship that Optimus and Elita had found, Optimus had to drag him away from the exploding energon, forcing them to leave Elita-1 behind. Optimus's radar couldn't find Elita's energy signature, and he assumed that she was dead. A furious Sentinel blamed Optimus for what happened, even though this whole disaster had been ''his'' idea. Years later, he was still a dick. When Optimus Prime rang up the Cybertron Elite Guard to tell them of the Decepticons in pursuit, he sneered that a screw-up like Optimus wasn't worth the attention of Ultra Magnus. Piping through a visual of the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] from the cargo hold of the ''Ark'' shut him up quickly enough. {{storylink|Transform and Roll Out!}}

Later, the Elite Guard visited Earth to reclaim the AllSpark. When [[Jazz (Animated)|Jazz]] decided to take a closer look at the humans, Sentinel warned that organics could spew out slime that melts through armor plating, deliberately goading Optimus Prime with memories of Elita One's fate. He decontaminated Optimus Prime's crew after setting a force field around the ship. When he heard that they'd defeated the Decepticons, he didn't believe Optimus, almost causing a fight between him and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]]. Sentinel boasted to Ultra Magnus that he had taken the initiative and scanned some "typical" Earth vehicles so they would not draw undue attention. He had, in fact, scanned massive, destructive vehicles for them both.

En route to [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]], Sentinel further evidenced how subtlety obviously isn't his strong point by driving through a blockade and off an overpass still under construction. When he, Optimus and Magnus arrived, they encountered the [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobot]]s, and Sentinel began to attack, believing their technology was primitive. [[Grimlock (Animated)|Grimlock]]'s subsequent [[transformation]] caught him off guard. They then went back to the city to take care of malfunctioning police drones. Sentinel started to act like a jerk again, more worried about organic contamination, and vowed to see Optimus arraigned on charges of high treason, but Optimus finally told Sentinel off, saying to his former friend that Sentinel was on his turf now. Even when shown proof of the AllSpark not being destroyed, Sentinel's attitude did not change. He was thus rather surprised when Ultra Magnus said that Optimus had characteristics that Sentinel himself could stand to learn.

Not taking the criticism to heart at all, he continued to be a general jerk to Optimus, the local police, humans, and pretty much everyone. His comeuppance would soon come in the form of a humiliating body-jacking by the Headmaster. Putting his reputation (and his noggin) in Optimus Prime's hands, he trusted his comrade to help him get his body back without letting anybody else find out. In this state he was slightly less condescending to Optimus, but it was hard to talk down to someone when reduced to 1/10th his size. He still had choice words about Optimus' practices in the process of saving his body however, such as ripping its arm off and using his head as a soccer ball. Deep down, Optimus was enjoying himself.

After recovering his body, Sentinel had to face the embarrassing prospect of reporting to Ultra Magnus, but surprisingly enough, Optimus covered for him. It took every ounce of effort for the big guy to utter a "thank you" to his comrade later.

While in the Headmaster's possession, Sentinel's body's weapons were upgraded into more powerful forms. At the moment it's not clear whether Sentinel got to keep the upgrades when the Headmaster Unit was separated or not.

* Sentinel Prime's blue coloration and ''especially'' pronounced chin (even by normal ''Animated'' standards!) really make him look like [[wikipedia: Tick (comics)|The Tick]]. He's even voiced by Townsend Coleman, who provided the voice of the Tick in his 1990s animated series. At present, we don't know if the character was designed to look like the Tick and the casting was done based on that, or if the casting of Coleman prompted the Tick-style design, or some other combination of factors, but it's pretty evident that the writers are working with it, having him utter silly, Tick-esque lines like "Energon-y goodness!"
* Sentinel Prime's shield-tossing fighting style is a fairly direct reference to [[Captain America]]. Far more coincidentally, one of Captain America's many sobriquets is the "Sentinel of Liberty".
* In "[[The Elite Guard]]", it is revealed that the "Prime" in his and Optimus's name is a designation of rank, so despite Optimus being an academy washout, he's still Sentinel's equal. This no doubt irritates Sentinel quite a bit.
* This is the first time the name "Sentinel Prime" has been used outside the comics.
* If he doesn't get a toy, there will be much sadness.
