Shockblast was a member of Tidal Wave's platoon prior to Tidal Wave being called to earth. After eliminating their Autobot enemies, he grew bored and began to attack and destroy his own Decepticon allies. Following the end of the Mini-Con war, Shockblast and Six Shot made efforts to end the uneasy peace, and so were eventually captured by the Autobot/Decepticon coalition some time between the death of Galvatron Mortal Combat and the appearance of Alpha Q The New Cybertron City.

He was held prisoner deep inside Cybertron, under near-constant supervision due to his status as a dangerous Decepticon war criminal. Alpha Q: Identity During a Decepticon uprising, Shockblast escaped and slaughtered most of the Autobot guards, including Padlock, earning the ever-lasting hatred of Wing Dagger. Megatron decided to add Shockblast to his team, and dispatched Tidal Wave to Cybertron to retrieve him. The two immediately began to squabble, reviving their old emnity. Shockblast damaged Cybertron's energon grid before fleeing the planet. Shockblast: Rampage

Shockblast proved difficult to work with, and spent much of his time insulting and belittling the other Decepticons - so much so that when Unicron began attacking those who were attempting to use its body, Tidal Wave initially blamed Shockblast Survival Instincts. Nonetheless, he was quickly given command of Megatron's troops and told to lead an assault on Cybertron, to destroy the rest of the energon grid. Unfortunately, Tidal Wave was severely damaged during Shockblast's attack due to Shockblast's own carelessness, leading to his reformatting into Mirage. Wing Dagger attempted to capture Shockblast during this attack, but was also crushed under the same falling energon tower that damaged Tidal Wave. Each One Fights...

On the other side of the rift in space, he crash landed alone on Iron Planet. Surrounded by Autobots, he was defeated by the reborn Wing Dagger, Wing Saber, captured and chained up. Protection For a time, Megatron refused to rescue him, but finally freed him, while capturing his guard Inferno at the same time.

Shockblast eventually tricked Megatron and attempted to assume control of Unicron in his stead. The full power of Unicron proved too much for him to handle, however; it drove him insane, sending him on a mindless rampage under Unicron's control. He crashed on Blizzard Planet, where Optimus Prime battled him while trying to reach past Unicron to reach the real Shockblast. Prime's words worked, and Shockblast managed to free himself. He turned his firepower on Unicron, but the Chaos Bringer brought one hand down on the surface of Blizzard Planet, and Shockblast was crushed before Prime's horrified eyes. The Power

: Shockblast transforms into a Cybertronic laser-tank, plus has a third satellite-cannon-thing mode. His cannon-arm contains a spring-loaded missile launcher and an electronic sound gimmick (which refuses to shut up most of the time). His design is obviously an homage to the Generation 1 Decepticon Shockwave.

: Many specimens of this toy have the same problem: in satellite mode, a peg on one of his legs will not fit into the corresponding slot to hold the mode together. Also, his torso connects to his legs via a very small hinge, which is quite susceptible to breaking.

: The Japanese version of Shockblast, named Laserwave, differs from the Hasbro release, with slightly more detailed paint deco and using a cooler grey plastic colour.

* Shockblast probably would've been called Shockwave if weren't for the fact that Hasbro didn't have the trademark for the name "Shockwave" at the time. This is supported by at least two facts: He's called Laserwave in the Japanese version (Laserwave is Shockwave's Japanese name), and in the same year, a second Shockwave homage figure was released into the Alternators series, also officially called Shockblast, but bearing a license plate reading "SHKWAV". Hasbro has subsequently reclaimed the "Shockwave" trademark.
Ambushed and alone, Inferno is taken to his limits and beyond by Megatron.

Synopsis
On Iron Planet, Shockblast, chained up and guarded by the stoic and silent Inferno, is bored. He entertains himself by verbally harassing his guard. His taunts fall on deaf ears; finally Inferno stands, walks off, and nails a distant peak with one shot from his weapon, to Shockblast's puzzlement.

Alpha Q delights over one of his new planets, and laments Scorponok's fall. On the temperate surface of the planet, Ironhide, Kicker and Misha land the Miranda II in a lake. The planet's atmosphere is identical to Earth, to Misha's relief. She wonders if it's inhabited.

Inferno calls in a report to Optimus's team on the Miranda II, though he has little to tell them; he expects Rodimus to be along soon. Suddenly, Megatron radios Shockblast, taunting him for his betrayal.

Megatron expects Shockblast will come crawling back soon enough... and indeed, he radios a moment later, begging to be freed and promising loyalty. Megatron agrees. Inferno doesn't seem to notice.

Rodimus observes space debris from Unicron flying into the void. Elsewhere, on a planet, the two-member search team of Autobots drive around and conclude that it's deserted. Downshift isn't happy about searching planet after planet, but Cliffjumper reminds him that that's what their orders are. Suddenly, they see a flash of light. Somewhere in space, Rodimus speaks to all Autobot warriors, telling them to use his flag as a beacon-guide if they've lost their way.

On Iron Planet, Inferno comes under heavy attack from Megatron's squad.

Misha observes a giant dragon fly, which freaks out Kicker. Kicker explains to Ironhide that the planet's so nutrient-rich that it's driving the eco-system to extremes. Jetfire reports that Inferno is under attack, and the Autobots prepare to move out. Ironhide is depressed, wondering if Scorponok will be there.

Inferno has retreated into a crevasse, defending himself from there. Megatron approaches the chained Shockblast; Mirage advises not releasing him, advice that Megatron agrees with. He threatens to "rewire" Shockblast. Desperate, Shockblast pleads for release, saying he'll capture an Autobot as proof of his loyalty. Inferno is still in the crevasse, waiting.

In space, Landmine, Prowl and Hot Shot fight their way through the debris-filled void. Through the void, they see Rodimus's glowing Autobot insignia-beacon, a sign of hope.

Shockblast is free; Mirage thinks it's a mistake. Inferno comes under attack from the sky, as Shockblast dives on him, firing. Starscream joins him.

Shockblast tries to flush out Inferno, but the Autobot just waits patiently, gun aimed. But Starscream gets behind him before he can fire.

Scorponok flies through the void with a horde of Insecticons, as Rodimus observes.

The Autobots arrive and locate Inferno. Below, Megatron chews out Shockblast and sends him to join the others above in battling the Autobots, before interrogating his captive. Above, the Decepticons hold the Autobots at a standstill.

Megatron tortures Inferno, demanding to know where the energon is. When Inferno refuses, he stabs him with his sword and threatens to turn him into a Decepticon.

Scorponok and his Terrorcons arrive; Ironhide holds him off while Prime goes after Inferno, only to run into Mirage. Megatron forces an energy ball into Inferno's wound, saying that soon he'll be a Decepticon.

Ironhide confronts Scorponok over his changed allegiance. Scorponok simply states that his only master is Megatron.

Under torture, Inferno flashes back to the beauty of Earth, and refuses to yield. Hot Shot and Rodimus arrive and finally make it into the crevasse. Surrounded, Megatron retreats. Inferno lies damaged and inert. The Decepticons transform and fly/drive off into the sky. Ironhide is still angry over Scorponok's betrayal.

The Autobots fly Inferno away. Weak, Inferno asks about Kicker's status... and, unseen by all, his Autobot symbol morphs into a Decepticon one.
Notes
Lost in translation
The only changes in the dub are a few trivial items—which is quite surprising considering that there's a typo in the title. Again.

* Kicker kicks Ironhide after they land the Miranda II on the first planet. In Super Link, it's because Ironhide had said the air was great and refreshing, and Kicker says he couldn't possibly know that. The dub changes it to Kicker staking his claim that he was the one to tell Misha that the air was safe.
* Kicker's original claim about the ecosystem is more about the planet's instinct to support life, rather than its nutrient-rich ecosystem.
* Megatron originally threatens to reformat Shockblast (rather than "rewire" him), a bit more serious-sounding considering what's happened to Demolishor, Starscream and Scorponok.
* In the dub, Inferno asks for an update on Kicker as he's carried away from Iron Planet. In Super Link, he asks if they're going to where Kicker is, so he can heal on a peaceful planet.
* Absurdly triumphant background music plays over this same scene in the dub; Super Link has silence instead, more befitting the somber mood as the gravely damaged Inferno is carried off.

Pain count
* "Uh?": 17
* Stock footage: 3
* Let's do it: 2
* You got it: 1
* You're kidding me: 1

Animation or technical errors
*What the hell, Voicebox?
*No, seriously, what the hell?
* The red energon sun somehow casts normal yellow/white light onto Iron Planet. The next episode would show that the planet has a yellow-tinted atmosphere. That still doesn't work with a red light source... but points for trying!
* The neck segment of Misha's space suit is missing in one shot.
* Cliffjumper and Downshift have their names reversed. It won't be the last time. (They're not named in Super Link.)
* Rodimus's magic beacon-projecting flag flaps in the vacuum of space.
* The rift—referred to here as "the void"—is so badly animated and edited that it's impossible to tell what or where it is. No establishing shots make clear where it sits in relationship to anything else in the show, and it's shown differently than in previous episodes. A casual viewer would have no clue where Hot Shot's team is or what they're doing.
* Likewise, the idea is that Rodimus shines his beacon at the rift's exit, giving both Hot Shot's team (who are lost in the rift) and the search party (who are on the other side of the rift, still in normal space) a sign post to follow. The animation makes this a bit difficult to figure out, the editing makes it worse, and the dialog in both versions doesn't help much.

Continuity errors
* So... Rodimus and Optimus entered the rift after Hot Shot, Prowl and Landmine were sucked in, as happened in "Ripped Up Space". They made it all the way through, had a whole series of adventures and battles on Iron Planet, and meanwhile... Hot Shot's team still hasn't gotten through the rift? What've they been doing in there?

Trivia
* During the torture scene, Megatron and Inferno are both animated in traditional cel format, allowing them to emote beyond the level of "mouth open/mouth closed". It is glorious!
* Unicron is apparently missing in action—there's no trace of him—but the dialog only vaguely hints at this mystery, when Rodimus says something vague about debris from Unicron.
* The episode's title was corrected for the Transformers: Energon - Ultimate Collection DVD release.
Blitzwing
:Blitzwing is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Blitzwing not only has three modes (robot, jet, and tank), he also has three alternate personalities (an "Icy" cold strategist, a short-tempered "Hothead", and a total "Random" nutcase) along with the faces rattling around in his head to go with them. He's as liable to have a conversation with himself as he is to say a word to his fellow Decepticons. Pretty much the only thing that keeps him in line is that all three of his personalities are scared to death of Megatron.

Blitzwing's "dominant", Icy personality is represented by a long, blue face with a monocle and speaks with quiet disdain. His easily angered Hothead personality has a wide, red face, is gap-toothed, and tends to react angrily with violent threats towards almost anyone. Finally, his Random personality's face looks like nothing so much as a black jack-o'-lantern, and may toss out bad puns and jokes, children's nursery rhymes, or random non sequiturs, mostly followed by hysterical laughter. All three personalities speak with a pronounced German accent and apparently he has trouble flying in a straight line.

Blitzwing's armament varies depending upon which personality is dominant at the time. His calculating personality has an arsenal of ice weaponry, while the Hothead predictably can turn up the heat. When his third personality is foremost, nearly anything can be dished out from either of his vehicle modes. Blitzwing's alt-mode is likewise usually dependent on which aspect is dominant at the time. His cold side uses the jet, his angry side uses the tank, and his insane side can use either. However it seems that if he changes personality while in his alt mode, that alt will change with him, and if that's a jet to tank change, he'll fall right out of the sky.

Long after the Great War ended and the Decepticon went into hiding, Blackarachnia experimented upon Blitzwing, rebuilding him into a Triple Changer and giving him the fractured mind he is known for today. Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac

Blitzwing was aboard the Nemesis with the other Decepticons at the time of the AllSpark's re-discovery. He partially froze Blackarachnia's arm, commenting on how her demeanor was as unpleasant as her organic beast mode. When Blackarachnia advised him to blow it out his actuator, Blitzwing angrily demanded that she refer to him by his proper name, or else he would...express his feelings in song! His out-of-tune rendition of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" got all the Decepticons arguing until Megatron entered, prompting Blitzwing to fall silent with the rest.

When it became clear the Nemesis was going to crash into an exploding space bridge, Blitzwing fled in an escape pod. Transform and Roll Out

After Megatron's disappearance, the Decepticons held a funeral at New Kaon. Blitzwing gave the eulogy, in which he vowed that they would destroy the Autobots responsible for their leader's demise...and then paint mustaches on their faceplates. Lugnut was angry with the service, declaring that Megatron was alive and would return. When Blitzwing pointed out evidence to the contrary, Lugnut destroyed the statue of Megatron that Blitzwing had built. This angered Blitzwing, who'd spent six deca-cycles building it, and initiated an exchange of fire between him and Lugnut. Dispatches

Blitzwing placed a bounty on Optimus Prime, intending to punish him for destroying Megatron. Fifty stellar cycles later, the bounty hunter Lockdown contacted Blitzwing, saying he had Prime. Blitzwing promised that Lockdown would receive payment once Blitzwing received Prime — then his random side asked if he could please, please, please see Prime turn into a firetruck. The Thrill of the Hunt His conversation was cut short however, when an enraged Lugnut slammed his face into the monitor for daring to commune with the bounty hunter. The pair began scrapping, and things were only made worse when Swindle showed up, taking the opportunity to sell each of them a wide variety of weapons so they could pummel each other. It eventually culminated in him selling the pair of them doomsday weapons and unbreakable nemesis shields. Realizing they were being played, Lugs and Blitz put aside their anger, beat the holy hell out of Swindle and made friends again. The Arrival issue 5#Everything Must Go

Some time after this, Blitzwing and Lugnut followed a beacon to the Moon to find the wreckage of the Nemesis. Noting that Starscream was bad at parking, Blitzwing also remembered that this quadrant was the last time they received an update from Lockdown. Concluding that the Autobots responsible for killing Megatron were nearby, the duo went to Earth. Landing at a construction site, the two had similar problems determining the dominant species on Earth as the Autobots did, mistaking Earth's automatons and machines for sentient beings. Lugnut's attempt to interrogate a crane ended up getting Blitzwing hit by the wrecking ball, which convinced the Decepticons to do a more time honored tactic—blow stuff up and hope it forces the Autobots to come out. It worked. During the battle with the Autobots, Bumblebee and Prowl were hard pressed to avoid Blitzwing's energy blasts, but his freeze beam did get Bumblebee off his feet. When Lugnut demanded information on Megatron's location, the Autobots mentioned that he had "turned into a fireball somewhere over Cleveland". Naturally, Lugnut was displeased, and he used his super-punch to floor the Autobots—and bury himself and Blitzwing under the rubble. When Blitzwing unburied himself, he irritatedly reminded Lugnut of his oft-repeated request for a little warning before the punch.

Having observed the battle over a live feed, Megatron opted to radio Lugnut exclusively, leaving Blitzwing struggling to work out what exactly was going on. Blitzwing believed Lugnut was only listening to voices in his head, so Lugnut had to take him along forcibly. Uncertain of the number and strength of the Autobots' "reinforcements" (the Detroit Police Department), the pair scanned Earth vehicles for disguises so they could lay low. Icy Blitzwing wanted to scan a fighter jet, while Hothead wanted a tank. After a brief argument, Random suggested that they scan both. That evening, the two Decepticons followed the Autobots to Lake Erie, where Blitzwing froze the lake. When the Autobots submerged, he followed them in tank form. Blitzwing was lured by the Autobots towards their ship and blasted by one of its weapons systems. He and Lugnut were left fragmented but functional and floated to the surface, only to be met by Starscream, who offered to repair them in exchange for a pledge of undying allegiance. Lost and Found (episode)

Apparently, they chose to serve under Starscream, but still were bickering with each other. When Lugnut began receiving internal transmissions from Megatron again, Starscream was confused, and Blitzwing explained that it was a "technical glitch" that happened. A lot. When Starscream learned that Lugnut thought he was talking to Megatron, he felt threatened and scanned Lugnut, detecting the signals. Starscream ordered both Lugnut and Blitzwing to find the Key while he himself tracked the transmissions.

At the moment, the AllSpark Key was in the hands of Ratchet. Blitzwing used his ice guns to freeze Ratchet and rip off the arm that was carrying the Key. Afterward, they went to Sumdac Tower to find Megatron. In the process of greeting him, they revealed Megatron's true Decepticon nature to Prof. Sumdac. Blitzwing, now understanding what had been going on with Lugnut, inserted the Key into Megatron's head, restoring their true leader. Megatron Rising - Part 1

As Megatron proceeded to beat up the Autobots, Blitzwing and Lugnut decided not to intervene and kept an eye on Professor Sumdac instead. When Megatron called his loyal troops to him, Blitzwing looked on as his leader made an example of Starscream. The Decepticons took to the air, locating and attacking the Autobots' ship as it travelled from the lake to the Tower, then from the Tower to Dinobot Island, where it was shot down. Blitzwing split off to tackle Prowl, Ratchet and Bumblebee, before being brought down by a combined EMP burst. As Blitzwing rolled around and shelled the Autobots, Prowl noticed that Blitzwing's personalities were connected to his alternate modes and powers. By this time, Blitzwing was back in the air, but Bumblebee taunted the Triple Changer enough that Hothead Blitzwing took over, transformed from jet to tank—and fell into the lake. Megatron Rising - Part 2

The Decepticons set up a base in a mine containing carbon deposits, which would block their energy signatures so they could recover from their encounter with the Autobots without detection. When Megatron announced his new plan to conquer Cybertron, Blitzwing felt the plan was crazy, as neither he nor Lugnut had any idea how they would get there. He changed his mind when Megatron explained that they would build their own space bridge using the specs Megatron had downloaded from Teletran-1 during one of the encounters with the Autobots. However, they would need the captured Prof. Sumdac to help them, as the specs were incomplete. The Elite Guard

After Isaac Sumdac developed a device that shielded their energy signatures from Autobot sensors, Blitzwing and Lugnut went to retrieve a tachyon transmitter from the Elite Guard's ship. When they presented it to Megatron, Starscream appeared, tried to kill Megatron—and was killed by Megatron. However, Starscream appeared to survive, and Blitzwing spent the rest of the evening dumping Starscream's body into the river...repeatedly. The next day, Blitzwing and Megatron responded to an AllSpark energy signature which turned out to be a trap laid by Starscream. Blitzwing and Megatron then pursued the traitor, offlining him again. Mission Accomplished

Blitzwing was later sent by Megatron to track down an AllSpark fragment, with an oddly disappearing energy signature. He froze Bulkhead and much of the surrounding landscape, destroyed a bridge, Captain Fanzone's car, and Master Disaster's truck before Sari Sumdac managed to make him leave using Master Disaster's remote. Velocity

Blitzwing and Lugnut wound up stuck with the dirty work, collecting supplies for the construction of the space bridge. Foiled by the Autobots, they tried again the next day, hauling heavy trailers up a hill. Blitzwing's foot slipped, and he was nearly offlined by the trailer sending him careening towards a wall. Bracing for impact, his demise was interrupted by the intervention of Mixmaster and Scrapper. Seeing a good opportunity in the brawny Constructibots, he tricked them into hauling the two trailers to the mine. Though Lugnut stated that Megatron would never stand for this, he reassured the huge Decepticon that the two newcomers would be offlined as soon as the work was done. True to his word, Blitzwing was about to have Lugnut dispatch the hapless bots when Megatron stepped in. He had bigger plans for them. Rise of the Constructicons

When the Constructicons resurfaced, Megatron dispatched Blitzwing to bring them back to the mine, giving him some oil to entice them, and instructing the Triple Changer not to engage the Autobots. During his search, Blitzwing came across the Autobots. Although his Icy personality wanted to continue the search, his Hothead and Random personality decided to engage them. During the battle, Blitzwing utterly dominated the Autobots, and eventually took Ratchet hostage. At that point, Megatron ordered Blitzwing to disengage and resume his search. Finally locating the Constructicons, Blitzwing offered the two the oil barrels he was carrying, and led them back to base. Sari, No One's Home

Soon after the space bridge was near completion, the Autobots found the Decepticons' hideout and attempted to stop them. Blitzwing and Lugnut attacked the Autobots invading their underground base, but they ended up getting stasis cuffed by Blurr. A Bridge Too Close, Part I Blitzwing was later retrieved by Scrapper and joined in on the attack on Omega Supreme. His Hothead side was unimpressed with the gargantuan Autobot, and he vowed to damage Omega Supreme so badly he'd need a GPS locator to help him find his still-attached exhaust port. Omega was equally unimpressed with the verbal posturing and headbutted Blitzwing to the horizon. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

When Sentinel Prime hired Lockdown to capture Decepticons for him, Blitzwing was one of the bounty hunter's early victims. He was subsequently locked up in the Elite Guard flagship alongside Sunstorm and Swindle, and had mouth clamps placed on each of his faces to keep him quiet. Five Servos of Doom
As the Elite Guard headed back to Cybertron with their prisoners, they navigated the ship through an energy storm in outer space, causing a stray bolt of energy to hit the ship and free Swindle, who had been left unrestrained. The greedy Decepticon immediately released Blitzwing and the others from their bonds and provided them with new weaponry. Led by Lugnut, the Decepticons defeated and captured the crew, only for Optimus Prime to transwarp into the ship and release them. The ensuing battle took place outside the ship, where Blitzwing froze Sentinel Prime and threatened to blast his head off if the other Autobots didn't surrender. The plan was a success, and the captured Autobots were led into their own decontamination unit to be frozen. (Blitzwing's crazy side also wanted them grinded up into snowcones.) However, this was the Autobots' plan all along, as Jazz had tampered with the freeze-gas pipes, causing Blitzwing, Sunstorm and Ramjet to be frozen instead. The three Decepticons were subsequently recaptured and brought to Cybertron, where Sentinel Prime displayed them during his Magnus-promotion parade. Decepticon Air
Prime Suspect
Upon discovering that the launch of HomeTech's new range of Pixie-6 helpbots was imminent, Blitzwing cooked up a plan to steal a Pixie-6 control sphere. Holographically disguising himself as Optimus Prime, he broke into HomeTech's laboratory and successfully stole a controller, which he modified to be powerful enough to control all of the Pixie-6 'bots. He intended to wait until they had been sold and installed in every home in America, but the Autobots caught up with him at HomeTech's warehouse. After a brief battle, Blitzwing was subdued, and Prime announced that they would attempt to reprogram him into an Autobot. Prime Suspect
Through some means, Blitzwing succeeded in obtaining the key and bringing it to the disembodied head of Megatron. Upon Megatron's rebirth, Blitzwing offered to help him destroy the oposing Autobots. Lugnut berated Blitzwing for trying to rob Megatron of a good time, and Megatron agreed with Lugnut, as he wanted the Autobots all to himself. The Cool issue 5
: Blitzwing transforms into a futuristic "Mech-Warrior"-ish tank with two large, spring-loaded anti-aircraft-like guns, and a fighter jet that loosely resembles the Northrop Grumman F-14 Tomcat. His tank-cannons become the jet's thrusters. The robot mode has three faces, which can be switched around via a knob on the back of the head. Surprisingly against the norm, Blitzwing's pointy nosecone is molded from rigid plastic. He has a pair of panels on his forearms which are spring-loaded to be able to lie flush in his vehicle modes, yet make his arms wider in robot mode (as they tend to be rather flat without them).

: Sadly, his cannons cannot tilt forward over his shoulders when in robot mode. Though promotional photos showed the figure with a gold traditional Decepticon insignia, the final toy used the movie variant in the tampograph.

: Blitzwing also has a minor misassembly problem, in that his upper arms are swapped. This is the reason his wings cannot press down flush with the rest of the jet fuselage. This can be fixed by pulling off his arms, unscrewing the one screw visible on either forearm, then separating the upper arms and switching them, which makes for a much improved jet mode.
: A very simplified (but well painted!) version of Blitzwing that has abandoned his triple changer aspect for simplicity's sake. Although this toy sports Blitzwing's "Icy" face, he transforms into "Hothead"'s tank mode.
Notes
* When developing the character who would become Blitzwing, Marty Isenberg originally envisioned a character who could change into anything. Obviously enough, that idea proved unworkable in toy terms, so art director Derrick J. Wyatt proposed using Sixshot for the role. When Hasbro deemed a Six Changer to be too expensive, the Triple Changer Blitzwing was finally settled upon instead. As fate would have it, Hasbro designer Eric Siebenaler had been itching to do a face-swapping Blitzwing since 2005.
* His German accent was a last-minute improvisation by voice actor Bumper Robinson, inspired by the character's name, that went on to influence his entire robot mode aesthetic; once Robinson had been cast in the role, Blitzwing was subsequently designed to "make him look really German," with his helmet an obvious nod to a World War II-era Stahlhelm helmet and goggles.
* Blitzwing's face-changing gimmick was in part inspired by Man-E-Faces from Masters of the Universe. He's not the first Transformers toy to feature multiple rotating faces; Alpha Quintesson, inspired by the five-faced Generation 1 Quintessons, holds that distinction. The fiction-only character Violen Jiger also had three faces that spoke in different tones.
* According to the Allspark Almanac, Blitzwing wasn't always the Triple Changer we know now him as today. His current state came about as a result of being rebuilt by Blackarachnia after the Great War, to increase his versatility. This process, however, also had the side effect of giving him three distinct personalities, something hinted at earlier by Derrick Wyatt.
*In the Japanese dub of the series, Blitzwing speaks with a stressed American accent, rather than a German one, with his "Icy" personality speaking with a very proper American accent and his "Hothead" personality even spouting English words such as "Hey!", "Now", and ending many sentences with "Man!"
*The geneology chart shown above provides an entirely different Witwicky family tree than established in the Movie comics, eliminating or renaming most of the above characters. No one's really sure what it is, though Hot Shot's Autobot peers have suggested it may be some mysterious fuel source. Regardless, it's important enough to Hot Shot that he had a vanity license plate made to proclaim his love for it!

WhAt iS jAam??
Just before the Armada toyline's imminent release in 2002, scans of the first pack-in mini-comic were put online both at Transformers.com and at Ben's World of Transformers, the latter of which received early production samples from Hasbro for review. The original comic was trilingual, forcing the writer to fit three languages worth of dialogue into tiny word bubbles, resulting in short and often stilted prose. Because of these limitations, many found the mini-comic to be a bit lacking. The British fan Yartek took it upon himself to rewrite the dialogue as nonsense, portraying Hot Shot as a mentally challenged, tortured freak of nature, famously proclaiming such things as "mY liFE iS PaIn" and "WhY mY ShOuLdErS hUrT?" in randomly uppercase and lowercase letters. (This was, perhaps, Yartek's commentary on the art.) The most famous quote, "jaAm", comes from Hot Shot's description of the large green energy-draining device, which he mistakes for a container of jam.

The rewritten mini-comic proved to be wildly popular in the fandom and grew to be one of the most persistent memes through the duration of Armada and beyond. When Ben Yee overhauled his toy review system, he commissioned Hot Shot fan David Willis to create a series of images based on the mini-comic. Ironically, the Hot Shot toy itself rated poorly on Ben Yee's scale.

Hot Shot's love of JaAm was referenced twice on his Universe toy—once on his vanity license plate, and about a quarter of his packaging bio is dedicated to it. Hasbro stayed up too late one night drinking, it feels like. Who's complaining?

*The specific capitalization of "JaAm" never actually appears in the comic, but Hasbro has used this capitalization on the back of Universe Hot Shot's packaging, with the second "A" being larger than the other - perhaps, we humbly propose, because that's how we've spelled it on this wiki.
:Side Burn is an Autobot from the Robots in Disguise continuity family.
Side Burn is an adolescent speedster and turbo-revving young punk. His brain development has yet to catch up with his ego and robo-hormones, and if he gets bored or preoccupied he'll wander away from his assignment or get in the way of someone else's without a second thought. This is particularly annoying to his law-abiding brother Prowl and the fussbudget Autobot computer known as T-AI. Even the more easygoing X-Brawn can grow tired of his antics. They're no fun anyway, and he can always outrun them. He can outrun just about everybody and everything except his own foolishness.

His greatest folly is his fixation on red cars. Transformer or not, sentient or not, he can't resist chasing after a pretty little thing of the red persuasion, proclaiming loudly and often his libidinous designs. This is usually a bad idea, and occasionally a very bad idea, like that one time the red car turned out to be Megatron in drag. Yikes. His "super" redeco was red. It's best not to think about it.

Side Burn is a good talker as well as a good racer. He can tell a real tearjerker of a story if he's in the mood. Ask Slapper about it some time.

As usual, Side Burn was chasing a red sports car when Megatron attacked New York City. So engrossed was he that Prowl had to interrupt him to answer T-AI's summons to the Global Space Bridge. The three brothers reached New York where Side Burn commented that he'd forgotten how ugly the Predacons were, and proceeded to see off Dark Scream with a missile. The battle ultimately ended with Megatron abducting Koji's father, Doctor Onishi. Battle Protocol!

The Autobot Brothers were later assigned to intercept the Predacons, who were prowling Metro City and stealing batteries from cars. Prowl again interrupted Side Burn's red sports car hunt to point out that he was supposed to be patrolling. The pair soon spotted Sky-Byte attacking the very sports car Side Burn had just been chasing and his heart was broken when the car was subsequently destroyed. An Explosive Situation

Assigned to protect the Linear RFG bullet train, the Autobot Brothers found themselves tangling with the Predacons, who were trying to blow up a rail bridge on the train's path. Ultimately they were unable to save the bridge, but the train was saved by Team Bullet Train. Bullet Train to the Rescue Together with Optimus Prime, the brothers protected a Plutonium Energy Generator from the Predacons. They escorted the generator as it was transported across the city the next day, with Prowl becoming increasingly exasperated by Side Burn's endless complaining. They were brought to a halt by a traffic jam engineered by Slapper. Fortunately the Spy Changers were able to lend a hand and the Autobot Brothers got to sit back and watch the Predacons' defeat. Spychangers to the Rescue

On another mission, Optimus joined the Autobot Brothers at the end of the Global Space Bridge, which was terminated some distance short of a ship under attack by Predacons. Side Burn was the first to attempt to jump out to the ship... but chickened out at the last moment. After Prowl and Optimus made their attempts, Side Burn hitched a ride with X-Brawn and provided protection while his older brother repaired the stricken ship. The Hunt for Black Pyramid

To help cheer Koji up, Side Burn took the boy on a visit to the Payuma ruins. The pair soon found themselves tangling with Sky-Byte, who was also exploring the ruins, and were forced to get higher in order to radio the other Autobots to alert them to the problem. Side Burn's brothers stopped Sky-Byte escaping with a box which turned out to contain Doctor Onishi's microchip. This held much valuable information and would help the Autobots greatly in the struggle to follow. The Secret of the Ruins

The Predacons finally hatched a trap—Megatron disguised himself as a red sports car and lured Side Burn to a junk yard where the Autobot was captured and tied up by the other Predacons. Slapper asked him why he liked red sports cars, and he spun a tale of lost love when he was just a young tricycle. Unfortunately the kidnapping lured Optimus Prime to the car crushing plant where Side Burn was being held, and the Autobot leader was also captured. The pair were soon rescued by X-Brawn, Prowl and the Spy Changers, and fought off the Predacons. Though Side Burn announced he'd learnt his lesson, a few minutes later he was chasing another red sports car. Sideburn's Obsession

The brothers were assigned to protect "Grandpa", an ageing steam train. In the end Team Bullet Train did most of the work protecting Grandpa, but Prowl and X-Brawn were busy stopping Side Burn from chasing red sports cars anyhow. Secret Weapon: D-5 All three brothers volunteered to enter the International Grand Prix in order to try and find Skid-Z, a recently arrived Autobot who had scanned a racing car and become possessed by the urge to compete in races. Side Burn attempted to chat up a red sports car at the starting line, only to realise it was Sky-Byte when it talked back. Once the race began, Skid-Z failed to show up—but the Predacons did, and Optimus and the three brothers found themselves holding up a huge rock dropped onto them by Megatron. Fortunately Skid-Z himself finally turned up and destroyed the rock, allowing them to chase Megatron off. Skid Z's Choice

Side Burn was parked happily ogling a red sports car in a showroom when he was abruptly towed away, protesting the whole time. Once Prowl had released him, he was introduced to the tow truck—the recently arrived Autobot Tow-Line. A few hours later, Side Burn was back ogling cars (though disappointingly the red car had been replaced with a yellow one) and was towed again by Tow-Line. This time, however, the other Autobot had been brainwashed by the Predacons and was carrying out their bidding. Side Burn found himself dumped into a pit at a power plant along with X-Brawn and Rapid Run. The trapped trio made some unsuccessful attempts to escape before they were rescued by a repaired Tow-Line and fought the Predacons once more. Tow-Line Goes Haywire

When the Predacons became convinced that the "Cave of the Dragon" harboured a powerful Transformer, the three brothers employed their acting skills to try to make the Predacons think that the disguises Optimus and Team Bullet Train were wearing were a giant transforming robot, and got fired on by Railspike for their trouble. The Ultimate Robot Warrior Called in to the Autobot Base, Side Burn and the rest of the Autobots watched footage of their old adventures and speculated on where the Predacon base might be located. Hope for the Future

Optimus and the Autobot brothers went to Castle Peak to investigate what turned out to be a crashed Autobot spacecraft. Unfortunately they were unable to prevent Megatron stealing the six protoforms inside and taking them to a nearby military base where the protoforms were reformatted into Decepticon warriors. The Decepticons Sent to Sherman Dam to investigate X-Brawn's disappearance, Prowl and Side Burn encountered the Decepticons and were both tossed into the lake behind the dam, at the bottom of which they were reunited with X-Brawn. The trio were freed when the Decepticons blew a hole in the dam and, in the ensuing fight, they aided Rail Racer in fighting off Ruination. Commandos

After the Decepticon Movor was shot into space, he tracked the Autobots in an attempt to locate the hidden Autobot base. Side Burn was, of course, doing some tracking of his own—Kelly's sports car to be exact—and led the Decepticons on a merry chase. Informed by X-Brawn that the love of his life was waiting at Pier 7B, Side Burn raced there to find the other Autobots waiting to spring a trap on the Decepticons who were still tailing him. Attack from Outer Space

Mega-Octane met with Optimus, claiming that the Decepticons had rediscovered their Autobot sides. The Autobot brothers were skeptical, so Side Burn came up with the bright idea of testing their honesty by forcing them to do all manner of menial tasks. After watching them all day, the brothers finally admitted that perhaps the six Decepticons were honest after all. Of course, it wasn't long before the plot was revealed and the brothers were alerted to a brawl between Optimus, Scourge and Ruination. The Test (episode)

The three brothers were called to a power plant where they chased off Sky-Byte and the Predacons. Later X-Brawn was told by Sky-Byte that the Decepticons were going to raid the Bayshore power plant. The brothers rushed there only to be told by T-AI that the Decepticons had actually attacked the Crestline power plant instead. They proceeded to the correct plant to find the Decepticons had already been seen off by Rail Racer. The Fish Test

Sent to a diamond mine, the three brothers were brought up short by an incomplete Global Space Bridge, and were introduced to the Build Team. Keen to prove themselves in battle, the Build Team took over the mission at the mine. Wedge's Short Fuse Using the space bridge some time later, Side Burn ended up first on an island in the middle of a lake, and then in the middle of an indoor go-kart track, due to Decepticon sabotage. He was eventually able to rendezvous with the other Autobots in the Arctic, where they watched Landfill fight off Megatron. Landfill (episode)

After being duped out of stolen oil by the Build Team, the Decepticons began attacking construction equipment. The Autobots attempted to stop them without involving the Build Team, but had little success. A final attempt to confront the Decepticons had the three Autobot Brothers turn up in the middle of nowhere—the Build Team had sabotaged the space bridge so they could confront the Decepticons themselves. A Test of Metal

While attempting to stop the Decepticons raiding an oil refinery, the three brothers were interrupted by a mysterious Autobot car carrier, who insulted them as the Decepticons escaped. Later they encountered the Autobot again and this time he scrambled their circuits and deposited them in a junk yard. Once they'd recovered, Optimus called them back to base for a systems check. Ultra Magnus (episode) Optimus confronted the Autobot, named Ultra Magnus, himself and was soon overpowered. The Autobot Brothers rescued him from the battlefield and took him to an island to recuperate. Side Burn kept Optimus company for a while, and learned that Magnus was the Autobot leader's brother. A short time later, Optimus was attacked by the Decepticons, and the brothers found the portal at the end of the space bridge had been blocked by Sky-Byte. They eventually broke through only to witness Optimus and Ultra Magnus combining into Omega Prime for the first time. Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!

Tracking Ultra Magnus, the Autobot Brothers spied him talking with Sky-Byte and assumed he was betraying them. The trio soon found themselves captured by the Predacons and were promptly freed by Magnus, who informed them he was pretending to defect in order to gain information. Returning to help Optimus against the Predacons, the three brothers found themselves being beaten on by Megatron. All three of them received a sudden power boost which was somehow channeled through Magnus, powering them up and enabling them to fight off the Predacons, with a little help from Omega Prime. The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus Prowl and Side Burn went out looking for Ultra Magnus and soon found him. Tailing the Autobot, they saw him talking with Scourge and confronted him, only for him to flee and leave them to fight Scourge and Ruination. Although the two brothers powered up for battle, they began to experience an odd energy drain and had to be rescued by Optimus and X-Brawn. Power to Burn!

The Autobot Brothers were sent to guard the subway below Metro City as the Build Team was searching for some mysterious ruins. The trio were confronted by the Decepticons, come to find the same ruins, and left them to the tender mercies of Team Bullet Train. Wandering further, they encountered Ultra Magnus, and Side Burn was distracted by a hallucination of red sports cars, leading the group to the ruins themselves. Fortress Maximus (episode) To their surprise the ruins turned out to be Fortress Maximus, whom the Autobots set about concealing in Metro City. While patrolling to ensure the operation wasn't uncovered, the Autobot Brothers stumbled on Sky-Byte talking to Koji and confronted the shark. Koji discovered that the pod Sky-Byte had been carrying contained his abducted father and interrupted the fight to tell the Autobots that Sky-Byte had rescued his dad. The three brothers apologised to Sky-Byte, who realised his huge blunder and fled in panic. Koji Gets His Wish

Doctor Onishi and T-AI quickly worked out a way to locate the remaining O-Parts needed and soon the Autobot Brothers were locked in competition with the Build Team to find the most of the artefacts. Side Burn and Wedge were especially competitive and Side Burn was depressed when his team lost. At least until X-Brawn pointed out the approaching red jeep driven by Kelly. A Friendly Contest Back in the Autobot base, T-AI merged with the O-Parts. She soon sent Optimus and the Autobot brothers, with Koji tagging along, to a remote part of the Sahara Desert in search of the Orb of Sigma. The foursome located the Orb under the desert and fought Megatron and the Decepticons for possession of it, eventually returning it to base. Peril from the Past

With information extracted from the Orb, the brothers and the Build Team visited a temple from which they extracted Cerebros, the control robot for Fortress Maximus. They were confronted on exiting the temple by the Decepticons and Predacons who stole Cerebros. The Autobots were forced to go on the defensive against the Decepticons and guard Maximus' hiding place. Scourge managed to activate Maximus anyway, and the giant was only stopped by the intervention of Koji Onishi. Maximus Emerges

Scourge attempted to control Maximus in the desert by magnifying the human portion of his bio-signature. Again Optimus and the Autobot Brothers rushed there. At Koji's insistence, Side Burn carried the boy closer to try to command Maximus to stop, but Koji was unable to override Scourge's control. Maximus was subsequently halted by the arrival of the Build Team and Team Bullet Train with a thousand children. The Human Element Having thwarted one attempt by Scourge and Mega-Octane to kidnap Koji, the brothers were assigned to guard him. Koji wasn't keen on being guarded and swapped clothing with his friend Karl, leading to Karl being kidnapped by the Decepticons in another attempt to control Maximus. Optimus and the Autobot Brothers were able to rescue Karl and retrieve Cerebros into the bargain. Mistaken Identity

When the Decepticons located and attacked Autobot headquarters, the Autobots led them into a trap and engaged them in a fierce battle. The arrival of Galvatron's Megastar turned the tide in the Decepticons' favour, until the Autobots were able to activate Fortress Maximus and destroy the battle station. Surprise Attack! Galvatron, however, was not through and began to drain energy from Fortress Maximus. The brothers attempted to shoot him down without success. After Galvatron managed to use cyber-bats to control Earth's children, Omega Prime called a retreat, but the Autobots were followed into the space bridge by the Decepticons. Galvatron saw this as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, and flooded the tunnel with molten lava. The Autobots, with the help of some urging from Koji, were able to escape the lava and confront Galvatron once more. Galvatron's Revenge The Autobots soon found themselves on the losing end of the battle, and shielded Optimus long enough for their leader to find Ultra Magnus and form Omega Prime. During the final confrontation between Galvatron and Prime, the rest of the Autobots were all held paralysed but provided Prime with moral support.

After Galvatron's defeat, Side Burn returned to chasing red sports cars and being told off by Prowl. The Final Battle (RID)
When Scourge and Sky-Byte led an attack on Arizona to drain the energy out of a vague and nondescript building in the middle of the desert, T-AI tried to call upon the Autobot brothers to help, but Prowl, Side Burn and X-Brawn were busy tangling with Megatron in Oregon.

Megatron eventually fled the battle and Side Burn arrived to help Optimus, only to find the conflict resolved. Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?
Some time after the defeat of Galvatron, Optimus Prime formed the Dimensional Patrol from the ranks of the Autobots who had stayed behind on Earth (apparently including Side Burn and Prowl), as well as additional experts in transwarp technology, to defend the planet from those who would do it harm via the "temporal and spatial nexus" in Earth's proximity. Unfortunately, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and several members of the Dimensional Patrol were abducted by Unicron. Here Side Burn and the others were to battle each other in the Cauldron, where their energy would feed and repair the shattered body of the Chaos Bringer. The Official Transformers Collectors' Club Magazine issue 1
Eventually, both Side Burn and Prowl ended up fighting in the Universe conflict, where Omega Prime had already joined Optimus Primal's Children of Primus against the Minions of Unicron. In the final battle against Unicron, the Chaos Bringer began to dissolve below them just as the Children of Primus' victory was achieved. To save themselves, Primal led his troops (presumably) back to Cybertron through a transwarp portal. Side Burn and Prowl were personally thrown by Omega Prime through the portal. However, some Children of Primus, like Omega Prime, did not return to their intended destination, but an alternate timestream. Revelations Part 2
: A Wal-Mart exclusive, Universe Side Burn is the exact same toy as Super Side Burn, however black paint was added over the red on the car mode parts (though the bumpers are still red), and a fiberglass pattern was added to the hood, along with a giant Autobot insignia on the car roof. The gun/knife was also dechromed and was cast in silver plastic. Also, the Dodge Viper logo was added to the front of the car, as it had been for both Shadow Striker and Roulette. The differences between both figures stopped there.

Notes
* Side Burn's original Japanese name, "Speedbreaker", is a synonym for "speed bump". It's unknown if the irony was intentional. What was certainly unintentional, however, was the accidental use of the name in Side Burn's first Robots in Disguise toy's bio.

* Given that the original Side Burn toy's bio talks about his "new spark engine" and the enhanced attributes it gave him, while the bio of his super mode toy merely describes his personality and abilities, it seems that the two were accidentally swapped at some point in production. The same thing happened to Prowl.

* He pursues a woman for hours and hours wherever she goes, despite her clear objections. Thinking about this for more than two seconds will make you feel all dirty inside, and you just have. (Just think, a different show and this would be presented as romantic.)

* The alternate mode of Side Burn seems to be downgraded in horsepower, since there are eight exhaust pipes connecting to his engine block (which are clearly seen whenever he is in robot mode), indicating that his power comes from an eight cylinder engine, rather than the V-10 engine all regular Dodge Vipers have. Which is probably why he can never catch Kelly's little red sportscars.

* In the "Bee in the City" script-reading at 2008, Beast Wars Megatron mistakenly calls Animated Bumblebee "Side Burn", as part of a running gag where the kid-appeal 'bot is called by various other kid-appeal-bot names from the Transformers franchise's long history.

* Super Speedbreaker/Side Burn's vehicle mode served as an inspiration for the Earthen car design adopted by Hot Rod in the Devastation segment of the IDW continuity.

*The Universe Side Burn toy matches the description of the Side Burn from the "Shattered Glass" continuity, who may or may not be this Side Burn. Though he speaks like a mirrorverse Side Burn would (gently ranting against "undue attention to females"), there are other indicators that he's not exactly what he seems. He hasn't been with the Autobots long, he already had an Earth mode, and so far he's one of the few characters who aren't based on someone from the Generation 1 continuity. At the end of the Universe conflict he was last seen being tossed into a transwarp portal by Omega Prime (who, in turn, was sent not to his own home timeline but to a Unicron Trilogy universe).

In the year 2011, Galvatron made plans for an all-out assault on the planet Cybertron. These plans, however, required that the Decepticon Headmasters successfully escape from planet Master and reach Chaar. With the Decepticon Headmasters being tailed by the Autobot Headmasters, Galvatron dispatched Sixshot to ensure that his newest recruits escape their pursuers. Arriving just in time, Sixshot easily defeated the Autobot Headmasters, then angrily ordered the Decepticon Headmasters to head for Chaar so they could participate in the assault on Cybertron. His mission successful, Sixshot left the defeated Autobots to lick their wounds. The Great Transformer War issue 3
:Voice actor: Michihiro Ikemizu (Japanese)

Sixshot, a member of the Six Clan, had a long, bloody history of being a scoundrel and a killer. Millions of years prior to his becoming Decepticon City Commander, Sixshot traveled to the planet Master and tried to rip off a mining operation. One of the miners, Abel, stood up to him and Sixshot brutally murdered him. Abel happened to be a good friend of Chromedome's, however, this was before he underwent the Headmaster process and he was too weak to stop Sixshot. Terror! The Six Shadows

He debuted in 2011 with the function of "Decepticon City Ninja Commander". In this respect, he was something of an arch-enemy to Ultra Magnus. They had their first encounter when Sixshot led Soundwave and the Triple Changers against the Autobots on Earth, trying to prevent reinforcements from reaching Cybertron. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky Sixshot was immensely powerful and soon usurped Cyclonus and Scourge as Galvatron's bestest fwend. Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime He personally guided Trypticon into battle on Earth in order to test Galvatron's Madmachine on Metroplex. The Great Cassette Operation

Sixshot and Galvatron came up with a plan to steal energy from the six major nations on Earth. Using his until-then hidden ability to assume six different modes, combined with his ninja shadow powers, Sixshot would pose as a group of robots extorting energy from Earth, throwing the Autobots off-balance as he would not appear to be associated with the Decepticons. In his various modes, Sixshot made several terrorist strikes on the countries he was blackmailing. He made two vital mistakes, though: one, by not telling Scourge and Cyclonus about the plan, they recruited Trypticon to keep this "mystery robot" from muscling in on Decepticon turf. And two, he attacked Japan. Nobody attacks Japan on the Trainbots' watch. (Except Godzilla -- he is a national treasure, after all.) Sixshot was swarmed with enemies in Japan, first the combiner Raiden, then the misguided Decepticons leading Trypticon into the fray, and finally Chromedome and the Headmasters, who had finally recognized him as the evil ninja from Master millions of years before. All the ninja tricks in the world couldn't get Sixshot out of THAT ruckus unscathed. Terror! The Six Shadows

Later, when Galvatron stormed Cybertron to capture the super-metal known as Cybertonuron, Sixshot happened to let it slip to Scorponok that Galvatron said he wouldn't need the Headmaster anymore once the Cybertonuron was his. Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1 Coincidentally enough, Galvatron vanished in a huge explosion just hours later, and Scorponok assumed command of the Decepticons. He declared his new position before Sixshot, Soundblaster and the others, and began hatching evil schemes of his own. As Scorponok sent the Headmasters and Triple Changers to capture the energy-absorbing satellite Solar 1, Sixshot occupied the Autobots on Earth so that they couldn't interfere. The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok Sixshot also coordinated Scorponok's scheme to distract the Autobots with a volcanic eruption in Peru. The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts

In order to keep the Autobots from interfering with Scorponok's plans on Mars, Sixshot and Trypticon intercepted them as they left Autobot City. Sixshot used his six modes to keep the Technobots distracted and off-balance. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!!
After learning the Autobots were going to stockpile large quantities of energon and send it to the needy planet Sandra, Galvatron had Sixshot coordinate a raid on the relief mission. Sixshot and his leader joined the Terrorcons and Constructicons (and Brawl) for an attack on the Trainbots before they could take off with the energon. The battle between the two forces stalemated, as the Decepticons failed to capture the energon, but also prevented the Trainbots from successfully fleeing with it. After shooting down the trains, Sixshot fought their Light-Speed Commander, Shōki. The stalemate eventually ended when the Autobots pulled back and sent the energon from their second base on Athenia instead. SOS from Planet Sandra

Sixshot was next seen using his ninja powers to disguise himself as Galvatron for a meeting with Spike Witwicky. While "Galvatron" pretended to entertain the notion of a joint energy generating project with the Autobots, the real Galvatron gathered his forces to strike out at energy sources elsewhere in the universe. The Autobot double agent Counterpunch reported on the ruse to his superiors, and Sixshot was revealed. As he led the Decepticons on Earth in a retreat, Sixshot blew up the Space Bridge ring as they were departing, preventing Autobot pursuit. Furthermore, because the Space Bridge nexus was already destabilized after the destruction of Mars, the Space Bridges on Athenia and Cybertron were also destroyed thanks to Sixshot's attack. Daniel Faces His Biggest Crisis Ever!!

As the Decepticons flew out into deep space to raid new sources of energy, Sixshot clearly distinguished himself as Galvatron's right-hand man. On Susei, Galvatron only took Sixshot and the Horrorcons with him to force the entire planet to surrender to the Decepticon cause. They fought their way to the palace and its energy stockpile, but were blocked at the five yard line by Chromedome and the Headmasters. Fight to the Death on Planet Hive!! On their next stop, the Decepticons attacked Sperity, the more developed of the Twin Star planets. Galvatron sent Sixshot and Soundblaster to uncover as much energon as they could, but the supply was drastically short. They could barely scrape together enough cubes to fill a room. The Decepticons learned too late that all of Sperity's people and energon had been diverted to the sister planet, Toruin. Battle for Defense of the False Planet When the Decepticons came to Darhos to stock up on "goodwill" energon from their ally, the corrupt governor, Galvatron sent out Sixshot and the Horrorcons to stall Fortress's men so that their refueling could be completed. Sixshot successfully kept the Autobot Headmasters occupied long enough for Scorponok to fill up. Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!! Next, on Paradise, Sixshot was sent to occupy the Autobots alone while the other Decepticons gathered energy. He waged a solo Transformer assault (group) on the Battleship Maximus, challenging Fortress's massive vessel. Its weapon systems were inoperative at the time, but hey, it looked impressive. Head Formation of Friendship The Decepticon mission continued at full pace, and they succeeded in accumulating energon on roughly half of the thirteen worlds they visited. Finally, on the Pirate Planet, Sixshot welcomed their new allies, the Decepticon Clones. The Clones and Sixshot aided Galvatron in the search for hidden proton energy on the planet before finally starting their return journey back to Chaar. Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship

Back in our galaxy, Sixshot aided Galvatron in carrying forward his ultimate plan. Sixshot cautioned his leader that Scorponok would not sit idly by while Galvatron made himself all-powerful, but Galvatron dismissed the threat of Scorponok as ultimately insignificant. As the final prepations were being made, Sixshot led an army of Horrorcons, Combaticons and Terrorcons in an assault on Earth. Once the Autobot energy facility in Miami was under siege, Sixshot returned to Autobot City with Trypticon to attack Ultra Magnus while his troops were scattered dealing with other threats. Sixshot and Ultra Magnus fought in personal combat, as Sixshot made full use of his Six-Changer and ninja multiplication powers. After a tireless barrage, Sixshot unveiled his hidden seventh mode, the Wingwolf, possesssing the power of all his separate modes combined. The Wingwolf's assault was too much for Ultra Magnus, and he succumbed to his wounds. The enraged Autobot Headmasters arrived just in time to witness his fall, and they turned their anger on Sixshot, driving him from the murder scene. Ultra Magnus Dies!!

Flush with victory, Sixshot continued the war on Earth, unleashing Menasor, Bruticus, Abominus and the Horrorcons to attack five different locations at once, stretching the Autobot forces to the breaking point. He also uncovered the secret location of Scorponok, who had gone AWOL earlier during the siege of Earth. Reporting back to his commander on Chaar, Sixshot informed Galvatron of his findings. During this meeting, Galvatron unveiled his full plan for the stockpiled energon -- he wanted to become another Unicron, incorporating Earth itself into his body to become the planet-sized Grand Galvatron. To do so, he would require..."donations" from the finest of Transformer warriors, using them as spare parts to assemble his massive new frame with the best transforming parts available. Galvatron informed Sixshot that his own impressive transforming powers would mark him as the first warrior Galvatron would honor by disassembling.

Less than thrilled with the idea of being scrapped for Galvatron's insane ambitions, Sixshot reported to Scorponok and forged an alliance with the Headmaster leader in order to hold off his grisly fate. When Galvatron came upon them, Sixshot and Scorponok faked a scuffle until the Autobots arrived on the scene as well. Sixshot was caught up in battle with Metroplex, who was seeking revenge for the death of Ultra Magnus. Fortunately for Sixshot, the Autobot Headmasters united against Galvatron and left him buried deep beneath the icefields of Alaska. Although Sixshot and Scorponok were forced to flee, Sixshot no longer had to worry about being incorporated into the "Grand Galvatron".The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg

Sixshot devoted himself to the new leader, Scorponok, and continued his efforts to upset the Autobot activity on Earth. He and Trypticon staged another attack on Autobot City, injuring Spike Witwicky in the process. I Risk My Life for Earth Scorponok was soon driven off Earth after the Autobots discovered the weak point on his MegaZarak Transtector, and so the Decepticons' new target was the planet Master. When six robots escaped Master in an attempt to warn the Autobots, Sixshot pursued them along with Slugslinger, Misfire and Triggerhappy. They came across the Battleship Maximus in space, and Sixshot engaged the Autobot Headmasters in warfare, using his multiplication power to confuse them. Chromedome and his allies managed to hold their own, however, and the fighting continued until a massive explosion of plasma energy rocked the area. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)

In the aftermath, Sixshot found Slugslinger and his men had been fused to the Master refugees in the plasma explosion. He brought them back to Master to recuperate, and these new Targetmasters joined Scorponok's forces for the invasion. The Decepticons were forced to modify their plans once the Battleship Maximus arrived in defense of Master. At Scorponok's command, Sixshot used his ninja powers to cast an illusion disguising him as Chromedome. He used his disguise to get close to Chromedome's friend Jack and kidnap him so that the Decepticons could learn about the Master Sword and the Headmasters' weaknesses. Sixshot tortured the poor scientist vigorously, but even Mindwipe's hypnotic powers could not compel Jack to reveal what he didn't know. With his usefulness at an end, Sixshot concocted a cruel plan for using their prisoner against the Autobots. Jack was turned into a suicide bomber, implanted with a powerful explosive and hypnotically compelled to return to the Battleship Maximus and detonate. Chromedome was forced to shoot down his own friend in order to protect the others. Enraged over the deaths of Jack, Abel, and Ultra Magnus, Chromedome launched a furious assault on Sixshot with his fellow Headmasters. Sixshot's arms were blasted completely off his body in the fight, and he was forced to flee before the vengeful Autobot finished him off. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2)

In order to uncover the secret of the Master Sword, Sixshot had the young Autobot named Wheelie kidnapped and dangled above a pit of acid. He demanded that Fortress reveal the secrets within three hours or else Wheelie would die. Chromedome and Danny Witwicky managed to rescue Wheelie from the Decepticons, but Sixshot and his allies were able to steal the data they wanted from Fortress anyway. The Master Sword Is in Danger!! As Scorponok continued construction on his new super weapon, Sixshot led a group of Decepticons to distract Fortress Maximus, keeping him busy elsewhere while the final stages were being completed. The Zarak Shield Turns the Tide Eventually, the Zarak Shield was completed, and the Decepticons rose up from beneath the city center in a massive battle. Sixshot fought against Fortress's warriors and the junior soldiers Chromedome had been training. Operation: Destroy the Decepticons

Sixshot was never well-liked by Scorponok, and once Galvatron was out of the picture, the Headmaster did his best to do away with Sixshot. After being deserted by Scorponok and the other Decepticons, Sixshot found himself stranded on a strange planet with Daniel. Sixshot revealed his softer side to Daniel and helped protect the young boy from the killer monsters inhabiting the planet. My Friend Sixshot!

Sixshot later left the Decepticons and helped take them down in the final battle on Earth. This was done to get back at Scorponok for trying to get rid of him a second time, though Sixshot wasn't aware that Scorponok had purposely abandoned him on that planet earlier. He said his goodbyes to Daniel, but did not immediately leave Earth like all the other Transformers. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)

Sixshot, deployed by the Decepticons as a "living weapon", was one of the most feared Decepticons in the galaxy, as well as one of the most powerful. He was typically unleashed during Phase Five or Phase Six of the Decepticons' phased infiltration protocol, bringing utter devastation to the worlds he visited. His "armature" consisted of metals drawn from the compacted core of a collapsed star, and his hermetically sealed power core contained a "self-regenerating dark matter fission cell"—in other words, he was fast, strong, virtually indestructible, and could fight all day and all night without getting tired. Devastation issue 4

In the days before Cybertron was abandoned, Starscream voiced concerns over Sixshot, fearing he was simply too powerful.
His lethal, emotionless nature ended up ostracizing him from his fellow Decepticons, with Starscream in particular disliking him; though Sixshot wasn't the most social warrior, he did miss the camaraderie of battle. The closest thing he had to "friends" were the Terrorcons, a troop of Decepticon warriors who envied Sixshot's power and reputation and aspired to one day be as great as he. The only other person not afraid of and shunning him was Megatron, and he'd planted a secret "off switch" in Sixshot anyway.
While on a mission to the strategically-significant planet Mumu-Obscura, the Terrorcons went missing. After getting the info from Squawkbox, Sixshot set out to rescue his "friends". After arriving, he found Mumu-Obscura to be a dead world, completely razed by a group of aliens known as the Reapers. The Reapers, led by a Deathbringer, offered the lives of the Terrorcons to Sixshot, if the Decepticon could defeat them in battle. Sixshot fought valiantly, though the Reapers proved to just be toying with him.

Eventually, the Deathbringer called off the battle and handed over the Terrorcons. The entire fight had been a test and the Reapers were willing to extend membership to Sixshot. The final test for joining, however, would be that Sixshot must sever all sentimental connections to his past and eliminate the Terrorcons. Sixshot could not bring himself to do the deed, though a part of him truly craved to be a Reaper. The Deathbringer allowed him to leave with the Terrorcons and declared that they would cross paths again, and hopefully then, Sixshot would be ready. Spotlight: Sixshot
He was briefly distracted by two fighter jets, which he effortlessly destroyed. The brief distraction allowed Ratchet to escape to Pensacola, where he attempted to hide among an ambulance pool. The "local rules of engagement" didn't apply to Sixshot, however; he proceeded to just blow up every ambulance around to force Ratchet to reveal himself. In the process, he made himself the first Transformer to be caught live on television and be visible in a crowded civilian area.

Transforming to wolf mode, Sixshot chased Ratchet out of town and down a highway, barely noticing as Ratchet discharged his two human passengers. Sixshot shrugged off their attacks and engaged the team of seven Autobots single-handedly on the beach. Starscream then emerged, challenging Sixshot to a duel to the death, making his decision easier and causing him to defect. Sixshot pursued them to planet Orvus Base was orbiting, Salvvatan VIII.

There he confronted the Throttlebots, who put up a fight, but he was having little trouble wearing them down. The fight took them into the city, where Sixshot was thrown through a door into a control room. This set off unusual alarms. While he was preparing to blast Searchlight, an arm emerged out of the city, crushing him. Each of these modes has their own functionality, including things like a trigger (that is, a little plastic panel that springs back after you pull on it) for his gun mode and his vague animal head which we're assured is a wolf.

:A completely absurd seventh mode was created for the Headmasters animated series named "Wingwolf"—and the toy can actually be configured into this form. It is effectively just an in-between transformation using various configurations from other modes to create... well... something. The idea was that this mode was more powerful because it accessed all the different powers of each of his other modes.

:The toy came with instructions that were sealed by a sticker, challenging the owner to figure out all the toy's modes without help. It really wasn't that hard, honestly—although the instructions (and packaging photos) actually managed to get the car mode wrong, neglecting to mention the additional rotation of the arms necessary to complete it. There are also a pair of extra holes inside Sixshot's legs into which his hypersonic concussion blasters can fit—presumably, this was the intended location for the weapons in gun mode, but the instructions and photos place them on the outside of the legs, in the same position as tank mode, which in turn was how the gun mode appeared in both the American and Japanese animated series.

* Sixshot's appearance in The Rebirth is an extreme case of marketing influencing the fiction, as he shows off his six modes and how cool and badass he is in the space of approximately forty seconds. Sadly, he was not seen again in any of the three parts, not even in the background, and only had one spoken line.
* The Autobot Six Changer Quickswitch might be Sixshot's son.
* According to the information from Comic Bom-Bom, Sixshot owns the Matrix of Evil in Japanese Generation 1 continuity, thus making a contrast to the Matrix of Leadership owned by Rodimus Prime.
* The Sixshot (or, more accurately, Greatshot) mold was later retooled to make the heroic "Ninja Detective" Shadowmaru for Takara's Brave Police J-Decker toyline. Amusingly, while the other 5 forms are of standard size for the series (assuming 5 meters in robot mode), his size for gun mode was increased to the point that, in Transformers terms, Omega Supreme could use him for an oversized rifle. Shadowmaru also had a prototype "brother", Kagerō, who could only change into three forms. He was not produced as a toy.

The Headmasters cartoon

Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger Later, he left for Chaar to attend the debut ceremony of MegaZarak, Scorponok's massive new Transtector. Explosion on Mars!! MegaZarak Appears When a mysterious UFO appeared on Earth, Sixshot was swallowed up inside its luminescent form right before Soundblaster's optics. He reappeared with the UFO on the moon in the midst of a battle between the Autobots and Decepticons, when it was revealed that the UFO was a starcruiser piloted by the returning Decepticon emperor, Galvatron. Return of the Immortal Emperor

Sixshot was one of the Decepticons who followed Scorponok to the planet Nebulos. He acted as an air transport to an unidentifiable Decepticon. Upon greeting Lord Zarak's faction of Nebulans, he noted, "Strange creatures await us." Maybe they were too strange because he was never seen again. Broken Glass!
After Shockwave successfully created the Triple Changer, he sought to create an even more impressive warrior who could transform into an unprecedented six modes. This vehicle never transforms or shows any signs of sentience, so whether or not it is actually Sixshot is debatable. Sixshot attended Megatron's rally before the war, despite apparently not existing yet. Megatron Origin issue 3

Aware of the dangers of such a powerful soldier, Megatron had Sixshot built with a secret "off switch" that could shut him down if need be. Devastation issue 5

After Megatron's recent thrashing by Optimus Prime, Sixshot was called in "early" to deal with the Autobots on Earth. Escalation issue 6

After arriving on Earth, Megatron instructed Sixshot to track down Optimus Prime's unit and eliminate them. Sixshot was slightly confused that he had been called in so early, but he also knew what happened when you tried to press a point with Megatron, so he complied. The other Decepticons, however, were concerned with Megatron's choice of action. Devastation issue 1

Once the Autobots' location had been relayed by Ratbat, Sixshot rocketed across the continent, intercepting the Ark-19 as the Autobots attempted to relocate it. He shot it down with a single blast. Devastation issue 2
Seeing the ship crash into the Gulf of Mexico and explode, Sixshot pursued Ratchet, who had ejected with Verity Carlo and Jimmy Pink in an escape pod before the Ark-19 crashed into the ocean.

He chased the Autobot to the Gulf of Mexico's edge and was about to kill him, when the crew of the Ark-19 emerged from the water and shot him. Devastation issue 3

Sixshot shrugged off their attacks and engaged the team of seven Autobots single-handedly on the beach. He badly wounded Bumblebee and Jazz while infodumping the Autobots about his various capabilities. After most of the Autobots escaped via orbital jump, Sixshot faced Optimus Prime alone. The Autobot leader was giving him a considerable run for his money, when he was summoned back to Decepticon headquarters to deal with the recently arrived Reapers. Devastation issue 4

Arriving in Oregon, Sixshot blasted a hole in the Reapers' ship and fought their whole legion. Deathbringer entreated him to join the Reapers, planning to destroy him if he refused. Starscream then emerged, challenging Sixshot to a duel to the death, making his decision easier and causing him to defect. However, Starscream activated Sixshot's "off switch", a verbal command of "Reset: pi-orion-actual-orbit. Galvatron took Sixshot to the Dead Universe scientist Jhiaxus, who repaired his body but implanted a device in his brain which gave his will over to the amoral researcher. Once completed, Sixshot was deployed to guard one of the Nega-Cores, which were essential to the Expansion of the Dead Universe. Sixshot traded Jiaxus' sic technology for his freedom. And thus Sixshot returned, in full possession of all of his faculties.

Rather than being used for full-scale planetary destruction, he first went on a snatch-and-grab mission to recover secret Autobot scientific research. He snuck into Orvus Base, killing most of the crew before they knew what hit them. The Throttlebots were stationed there, however, and were able to escape with the data and their lives.

This didn't incapacitate Sixshot, so when the city completed its transformation, it stomped on him, which did put him out of commission... temporarily... Spotlight: Metroplex
:Sixshot transforms into a robot, a tank, a spaceship, a gun, an off-road vehicle, and a winged wolf.

Soundwave is technology gone wrong. Machines are superior to humans: more logical, more intelligent, and longer lasting. It does not compute that humans control their robotic helpers, and Soundwave aims to lead the robot proletariat to rise against their fleshling bourgeoisie. The Decepticon cause is logical in Soundwave's optics, and he joined them in the hopes of overthrowing the human/capitalist oppressors. With an army of subservient mechanoids that he can control through powerful signals, that uprising just might be possible.

His arsenal of weapons and gadgets is unusually large, and includes powerful speakers, wiretaps, voice modulators, sonic signals that control lesser robots, and the uncanny ability to assimilate other devices into his body.

He has a pet bird that transforms into a guitar and a pet bat that changes into a keytar. He also on occasion has been known to command an army of diminutive drones of himself.

Soundwave was a robot originally designed by Megatron. Megatron suggested Isaac Sumdac give Soundwave to his daughter as a birthday present... this seemingly kind act, of course, had a sinister ulterior motive. Megatron knew Sari would use her AllSpark-enhanced Key on Soundwave, which would allow him to upgrade... and ultimately become Megatron's new body. What Megatron didn't count on, though, was that the upgrades would actually make Soundwave self-aware and able to control other robots with sound. Additionally, Soundwave concluded that machines should be the masters of the world, and humans would be an ideal slave force. Megatron decided that if Soundwave couldn't be a new body, he would be a new soldier.

Megatron tried to convince Soundwave to join the Decepticons, take control of the machines in Detroit, and steal the Key. At first Soundwave refused, but then Megatron told Soundwave that the Autobots lived to serve the humans. Once convinced, Soundwave promptly upgraded himself into a transforming body using controlled robots, and began his task. He started by taking over all the robots in Detroit and using Tutor Bot to kidnap Sari Sumdac. The revolution of the robots was, however, quickly opposed by the Autobots. When Bulkhead came to rescue Sari, Soundwave blasted him with a sonic blast. Soundwave then appealed to Bulkhead to join the revolution because he did not want to hurt a fellow machine, reminding him how Bulkhead had been replaced by Soundwave himself. Bulkhead acted as if he was about to kill Sari... then used his wrecking ball to shatter Soundwave. The machines were restored to their normal operational status, and the day was saved.

Unknown to all others, however, Soundwave still functioned as a small piece even after Bulkhead pummeled him into scrap metal. Sound and Fury

A newly reassembled Soundwave is revealed to be in control of an army of Soundwave toys that have been marketed and sold by Porter C. Powell just in time for Christmas. One such toy was among the wrapped gifts at Autobot base. This toy freed himself from his packaging where he proceeded to poison the Autobot's oil-nog, which made the Autobots eager to take a stasis nap. Hoping to reprogram them into Decepticons, Soundwave plugged the sleeping Autobots into a virtual world where they were lead to believe they had been turned into humans. However, Optimus Prime and Prowl eventually deduced that they were in a virtual world, and managed—by force of will—to change their avatars into their Cybertronian forms. Soundwave decided that he had to accelerate the reprogramming. However, Sari Sumdac used her previously discovered Cybertronian abilities to try to interfere with his plans. Laserbeak was able to drive her off, and Soundwave used Ratbat to begin a more accelerated reprogramming. Human Error, Part I

Unfortunately, the damage that Sari dealt to Soundwave in their scuffle impeded the process of reprogramming the Autobots. That was of little consequence, as Soundwave had a back-up plan: using the toys Powell made in his likeness, Soundwave was able to brainwash every human in Detroit, ordering them to "destroy the techno-organic". Soundwave then turned his attention back to the Autobots, however, Prowl had freed himself using his "processor-over-matter" technique, but Soundwave quickly rectified this and returned the virtual Autobots into their human bodies. Exploiting their desire to escape from his trap, Soundwave entered the virtual world with an oddly-colored avatar and led them into a trap, where their reprogramming was completed.
After Sari Sumdac assembled a group of "Substitute Autobots" to free her friends, Soundwave gained the element of surprise when he burst out from under the street and brought forth his newly reprogrammed Autobot minions. Soundwave held a significant tactical advantage over the inept group, but when the miserable technorganic changed tactics and focused on individual attacks, Soundwave found himself disoriented as he tried to control five minions at once. Soundwave was able to regain the upper hand when the substitute Autobots took out all but one of the reprogrammed Autobots: leaving him with full control over Optimus Prime. However, Prowl was able to break free of Soundwave's control using processor-over-matter and disabled Soundwave's control over his comrades. Soundwave then deployed Ratbat to deal with the meddling cyber-ninja and fought servo-to-servo with Optimus Prime, who then grabbed Laserbeak and forced him to transform back into guitar mode. Soundwave called Ratbat back to him in keytar mode and the two battled each other with music, until Optimus changed tactics and slashed him to pieces with his own ax. Soundwave was reduced back to his smaller form and seemed to be in Autobot custody... until Laserbeak grabbed his master and retreated in the sky. Human Error, Part II

: Soundwave transforms into a pseudo-Scion xB that got a "Pimp My Ride" music style treatment. That's awesome. He also comes with his partner Laserbeak, who changes from a guitar to a bird. Also awesome. Laserbeak can mount on the top of the roof of Soundwave's car mode and perch on his arm (or store on his back) in robot mode. Very awesome. And the volume/tone knobs are just the right size to fit in the screwholes on his arms, so he can look like he's strumming Laserbeak's guitar form. <u>Extremely</u> awesome.

:Between the presence of Soundwave's huge backpack and his painted eyes, his lightpiping feature is well and truly neutered. Not so awesome.

: A redeco of the regular Deluxe Soundwave, Electrostatic Soundwave's deco is an obvious homage to Soundblaster, being black with red paint applications. Instead of Laserbeak, he comes with Ratbat, a black keytar that turns into a bat with a metallic purple head and wings. Supremely awesome.
Notes
* Soundwave's eyes are a reference to 2000 ADs ABC Warriors.

* In the cartoon, his eyes can be either "Decepticon" red or "Generation 1 toy" yellow. Everybody's happy!

* The box he was in when given to Sari—as well as his remaining component after Bulkhead first defeated him—are obvious references to the alternate mode of Generation 1 Soundwave.

* The production staff of Transformers Animated were completely unaware of the Soundwave toy's Laserbeak-guitar, hence why it was not included in his debut episode.

* Soundwave's "tape deck" form seen at the end of "Sound and Fury" is based upon Takara's Music Label MP3 player Soundwave toy.

* Soundwave's consciousness appears to be localized to this "tape deck", meaning as long as it remains intact, he can form/build a new body. It's not clear whether his spark is also contained within.
