'''Prowl''' is the Autobot military strategist. As such, Autobot Commander [[Optimus_Prime_(G1)|Optimus Prime]] will keep Prowl near at hand for his indispensable expertise. He does not react well to the unsuspected and despises disorder. He believes his dedication to logic and rational thought puts him next in line for Optimus Prime's job and dreams of making grand speeches -- even though in reality he's stoic and uncharismatic.

He really doesn't tend to get along well with his fellow Autobots, many of whom find his strict adherence to military protocol stifling, and his uptight personality sure doesn't help matters. The [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] commander [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] ''especially'' honks Prowl off, and Grimlock feels pretty much the same way in return, only with more swear words.
Prowl was part of the crew of the ''[[Ark]]'', the Autobot starship that left Cyberton looking for alternate sources of energy only to crashland on Earth. Four million years later, the Transformers were reawakened and reformatted by Teletraan-1. Despite being situated in the United States, Prowl was reformatted as a Japanese police car. No one seemed to notice.

On Earth, Prowl continued to serve as [[Optimus Prime]]'s right hand man, filling the role of military advisor and strategist. His precision thinking and by-the-books planning served as a valuable counterpoint to Jazz's more improvisational style, and it was up to Optimus Prime to weigh their views and come to a decision.

Prowl met his maker in the year 2005, alongside fellow Autobots [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]], [[Brawn]] and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]. During a [[Decepticon]] assault of a shuttle run to earth from Moonbase One for energon. He almost throws [[Ratchet_(G1)|Ratchet]] in the brig for breaking cover to rescue three humans from the Decepticons, and subsequently refuses to contact Optimus Prime until further evidence of enemy activities is uncovered. He does not willingly believe Ratchet when the medic tells him that the Decepticons have stepped up their presence by constructing a second base.
Prowl was part of the first series of Autobots released in 1984, reusing a mold originally developed for a Diaclone Datsun Fairlady Z (280 ZX) police car. The Diaclone version had decals that identified him as a Japanese police car, which in turn were translated into "Highway Patrol" for the North American Transformers release. The original instructions booklet, though, features a visible Japanese label sheet complete with the chrysanthemum emblem found on Japanese police cars. Prowl uses the same mold as [[Bluestreak]], though with some specific tooling on his backplate / car roof to depict his police lights.
[[Image:Cliffjumperg1.jpg|right|thumb|300px|He's got a piece of paper that he claims contains a list of known traitors. Everybody is on it. Including you.]]

'''Cliffjumper''' hates traitors. And anybody could be a traitor. Therefore, Cliffjumper hates everybody. It's unclear if he hates traitors more than he hates [[Decepticon]]s, but it's at least a neck-and-neck thing.

He makes a habit of pulling ridiculously huge guns from nowhere and attacking impulsively despite orders or sanity. Somehow, this gets him neither killed nor demoted.

Cliffjumper's special weapon is his "glass gas", which embrittles metals on contact so that they shatter like glass. He is not immune to its effects, so its use requires careful consideration of wind direction. Actually, this may explain why he prefers the big guns. He doesn't seem like the calculating type.

In vehicle mode, Cliffjumper is one of the fastest ground-vehicle Autobots, if not absolutely the fastest.

Cliffjumper was a part of the crew onboard the [[Ark]] when it crashed into [[Earth]] four million years ago while clearing an asteroid field in the path of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron.]] He was deactivated for a while during [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]'s occupation of the Ark, but was repaired without incident when [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] reclaimed it.

However, the head of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was still missing, and during an attempt to retrieve it, an imposter head took control of Prime's body, firing on Cliffjumper. ''Presumably repaired, he later participated in the Dinobot Hunt, along with [[Gears]] and [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]]. Although they found [[Sludge (G1)|Sludge]], immediately thereafter all three were captured by the Decepticons. They were rescued by [[Bumblebee]].''

He was one of the observers to [[Blaster]] and [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]]'s battle on the moon. HOw he fared in the following [[Decepticon]] attack is unknown, but he's never seen again.

Cliffjumper was a part of the crew onboard the [[Ark]] when it crashed into [[Earth]] four million years ago during a search for new energy sources. His alt-mode was reformatted into an oddly proportioned Porsche 924.

When the Autobots awakened from their four million-year slumber, Cliffjumper was eager for action. He volunteered to tag along on [[Hound]]'s recon mission to scout out Decepticons because he was itching to "boot some Decepticon right in his turbocharger." Though [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]'s orders were only to find the Decepticons, Cliffjumper brashly tried to engage the enemy once Hound sniffed them out.

Cliffjumper missed his shot, and the Decepticons dispatched [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] to chase off the Autobot eavesdroppers. Hound got pasted by Laserbeak's laser blasts, requiring extensive repair from Autobot medic, [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]. though Cliffjumper was remorseful for having acted without thinking, Hound didn't hold a grudge.

While pursuing [[Nightbird]], the female robot ninja built to benefit mankind, Cliffjumper was the only Autobot unable to jump up the cliff after her.
: Cliffjumper was part of the initial series of 1984 Autobots. His mold was originally used to make a [[Microchange]] Porsche 924 Turbo, a cutesified 'Penny Racer' type car. In the original release, there were common instances of Cliffjumper being packaged as a yellow version, and [[Bumblebee]] likewise being packaged as a red version, leading to some confusion about the two characters, especially if the toys were found without their packaging.

''Blitzwing is a [[Decepticon]] in the [[Generation One]] continuity.''

[[Image:Blitzwingg1.jpg|thumb|right|250px|"Blitzwing has no feet. Blitzwing needs no feet!"]]

'''Blitzwing''' is loud. He likes to think he has a sense of humor, but what he considers funny is, more often than not, offensively cruel. Obnoxious, belligerent, and nasty, he makes even his fellow Decepticons feel uneasy. His anti-social tendancies can relegate Blitzwing to an outsider status. Due to his social isolation, he's able to see the bigger picture; he can see when his teammates are being played by unseen forces. Of course, if he thinks the trap is amusing enough, he might just let it happen anyway.

''French-Canadian name:'' '''Le Blitz'''<br>
''Italian name:'' '''Triplex Due'''

==Fiction==
===Animated Continuity===
'''Voice Actor:''' [[Ed Gilbert]] (US), [[Keiichi Nanba]] (Japan)

For someone as powerful as he is, Blitzwing does not have the best track record when it comes to decision-making. First, he and fellow Triple Changer [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]] decided to do away with both [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and strike out on their own in search of fame, fortune, and [[energon]]. While this would normally be considered suicidal, the two Triple Changers somehow pulled it off and were free to finally do whatever it took to wipe out those pesky Autobots once and for all.

The way they chose to do this, however, did not do much to inspire confidence in their abilities. While his partner went off to play with some trains, Blitzwing's personal strategy for victory was to kidnap a football coach under the mistaken impression that the human was some kind of master strategist. Both Blitzwing and his pet tactician were beaten so quickly that it was almost embarrassing, and he crept carefully back to the [[Decepticon]] ranks, hoping that nobody would remember what had happened.

Blitzwing was also present during the infamous assault on [[Autobot City]] in 2005, where he was at the head of the first attack. Together with [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]], he battled [[Hot Rod]] and [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] at [[Lookout Mountain]], a fight that did not go in his favour (Kup being surprisingly nimble for an old guy). Blitzwing is also shown participating in the general carnage at Autobot City a short time later, and is one of the several Decepticons who ran afoul of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. Unlike his less fortunate comrades, Blitzwing was able to avoid getting run over, and even managed to shoot back a little before Prime beat him, which is more than most Decepticons expect when facing Optimus Prime. In fact, Blitzwing made it through the entire battle more or less intact, which meant he got to ride all the way to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] without anyone trying to kick him out the back door when he wasn't looking.

When the [[Quintesson]]s arrived on [[Charr]] to bribe the [[Decepticon]] army with promises of [[energon]] and revenge, Blitzwing was the only one of his comrades to turn down their offers. He had met their kind before (or at least he thought they seemed familiar to him for ''some'' reason) and did not trust them, though he could not remember why. Upon the triumphant retun of [[Galvatron]], Blitzwing was the only Decepticon left to greet him. Later, during an assault on Cybertron, it was Blitzwing who discovered that the Quintessons were lying to Galvatron and plotting to destroy all Transformers (instead of just the Autobots, which Blitzwing had no problems with). He tried to report this to Galvatron, but when he could not convince the Decepticon leader, he turned to [[Rodimus Prime (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] for help. Together, Blitzwing and Rodimus were able to stop the [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticon]] commando team that had infiltrated Cybertron. Galvatron, unfortunately, suspected that Blitzwing was trying to betray the Decepticons and steal the "Decepticon Matrix of Leadership" for himself and threw the switch the Quintessons' nullifying switch, deactivating Transformers galaxy-wide until [[Spike Witwicky]] destroyed it. With the Quintessons' deception revealed, Galvatron attempted to renew hostilities with Rodimus, but Blitzwing drew his weapon and targeted Galvatron, stating that the battle was over for now. Seething, but seeing little alternative, Galvatron accepted and withdrew his forces from Cybertron, but banished Blitzwing from the Decepticon ranks forever.

Ironically, Blitzwing had gotten away with ''actually'' betraying Megatron, but then managed to get himself branded a traitor and was hurled out of the Decepticons while being perfectly loyal. He would appear again briefly in some crowd scenes, and in the ''[[Headmasters (TV series)|Headmasters]]'' animated series, likely as the result of carelessness in production.

It should also be noted that when Rodimus offered Blitzwing a place among the Autobots, Blitzwing did turn it down, but also mentioned his respect for Rodimus. This makes Blitzwing one of the few notable Decepticons (along with [[Octane (G1)|Octane]], [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]], and [[Carnivac (G1)|Carnivac]]) who do not seem to have any real hatred for the Autobots.

''('''Note:''' In the original script for ''[[Five Faces of Darkness]]'', after Blitzwing's banishment, Rodimus extended his offer to Blitzwing a second time, and in this instance, he did not accept, but did not ''refuse'', saying that he would think about it. The later episode, ''[[Starscream's Ghost]]'' was originally written to feature Blitzwing, but was later re-written to be about the newest Decepticon Triple-Changer, [[Octane]], although there is no explanation offered for why Octane is friendly with the Autobots. It would seem that this would have originally been Blitzwing following up on Rodimus's offer.)''

===Marvel Comics===

===Dreamwave Generation 1 Comics===

Blitzwing participated in [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]'s assault on [[Iacon]] and demonstrated triple-changing abilities. However, after the disappearance of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] in a [[space bridge]] explosion, Blitzwing was captured and imprisoned by the Autobots as a dangerous experiment of Shockwave's. He was freed from [[Autobase]] by the [[Fallen (G1)|Fallen]], and presumably released back to the Decepticons after the temporary truce that resulted from the Fallen's defeat. Following the departure of the [[Ark]], Blitzwing served as Shockwave's lieutenant, and appeared to be undergoing some sort of mutation which Shockwave did not fully understand.

Somehow, Blitzwing made his way to [[Earth]], and was among the Decepticons captured and deactivated during [[Operation Liberation]]. Despite this, he was not among the Transformers recovered and controlled by [[Lazarus]], but instead ended up back on Cybertron, once more under Shockwave's command. Blitzwing was one of the warriors who accompanied Shockwave to Earth to capture the Earth-bound forces of Optimus Prime and Megatron, and was badly damaged by [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] in the battle that ensued. Some time later, Blitzwing was attacked and destroyed by the [[Predacon (G1)|Predacons]] on Cybertron. His remains were then examined by an unknown Transformer.

''(Note: Blitzwing's history in Dreamwave Comics was rather convoluted and contradictory. His appearance among the captured Decepticons on Earth in Generation 1 is at odds with his later appearances on Cybertron in [[War and Peace]] and [[Micromasters (comic)|Micromasters]]. Furthermore, his earliest chronological appearance in [[The War Within]] depicts him as a triple changer, while his appearances in [[The Dark Ages]] and Micromasters show him mutating into his triple changer form for the first time. The answers to these conundrums, and the identity of the being who examined his fallen form (though it was likely [[Sixshot (G1)|Sixshot]]) will remain forever unanswered, due to the bankruptcy and collapse of Dreamwave.)''

Blitzwing is part of a Decepticon infiltration unit that has operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, working to destabilise Earth's governing organisations and create global anarchy. He is assigned along with [[Skywarp_(G1)|Skywarp]] to destroy all traces of the [[Nebraska]] operation, but is severly damaged, if not outright destroyed, by Megatron.

'''Unicron''' is the arch-enemy of his twin brother [[Primus]]. He is known as the Dark God, the Chaos Bringer, the Planet Eater, and he is dedicated to consuming the multiverse, the tapestry of all Transformers realities. Imprisoned in a physical form by Primus, his power is limited to one reality at a time, though he can move between them at will. His goal is to become the living center of a swirling, infinite torrent of nothingness.

The only thing that he fears is Primus' essence, contained inside the [[Matrix of Leadership]].

Frequently, Unicron will make deals with lesser beings, giving them vast new powers in exchange for their servitude. These minions are sometimes stripped entirely of their free will, but others follow him willingly. No matter their intent, Unicron's plans ultimately call for their consumption as well.

==Fiction==
===In the beginning===

[[Image:Unicron_original.jpg|thumb|left|Unicron's original body]]

At the birth of the Universe, an extradimensional entity known as [[The One]] created twin astral beings to reign over the cosmos. One was Primus, the Lord of Light and Order. The other was Unicron, the Lord of Darkness and Chaos. Unicron sought to devour everything that exists and become one with [[The Void]] at the end of all things.

Primus was no match for Unicron. But Primus did manage to trap both his and Unicron's essences inside metallic planetoids. Over time, Unicron learned to shape his planetoid into a metal being that was able to transform between planet mode and a robot mode which resembled his original astral form. The two brothers shared a mental link. So long as Primus hid himself in slumber, so did Unicron also sleep. Their war ended, for a time, in stalemate.

===War of the balance===

[[Image:Primalscream.jpg|left|thumb|Primus' Primal Scream.]]

[[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], [[Jazz]], and [[Bumblebee]] found themselves transported to the center of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. In a battle with [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s [[Pretender]]s, a laser blast ricocheted off Grimlock and struck the essence of the sleeping Primus, causing a multiverse-shaking Primal Scream that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location.

The battle between Primus and Unicron began anew. Though Unicron would sometimes be defeated, this is always temporary, and there is a whole multiverse of realities to consume. When Unicron is destroyed in one reality, he will respawn in another, ready to eat again.

===Generation 1===
====Marvel Comics====

After the Primal Scream, Unicron headed directly towards Cybertron. He created three [[Heralds]] to send ahead of him and prepare the Transformers for his arrival: [[Hook (Herald)|Hook]], [[Line]], and [[Sinker]]. He also borrowed a version of Galvatron from another dimension's future in which he was successful in devouring Cybertron.

[[Image:Acolyte_of_unicron.jpg|thumb|100px|right|Unicron cultist with mask.]]

Unicron placed a mental command in some Transformers, generating a cult of Autobots and Decepticons. His worshippers gathered to attack the leader of the two united factions, which had gathered on Cybertron when they sensed Unicron drawing near. Their assassination attempt was defeated with the help of Galvatron, Unicron's wayward herald.

Unicron was so unimaginably large that the sight of him froze both Transformer factions into inaction. Unicron, disappointed that victory was this simple, tore apart the planet's surface. It was only the actions of the kidnapped Galvatron that snapped the Transformers out of their collective terror. Even the united Transformers were unable to hold Unicron off. After being fazed by the [[Neo-Knight]] [[Rapture]] and temporarily shorted out by [[Circuit Breaker]], it was [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] who flew towards Unicron and opened the Matrix. The life contained inside caused Unicron to explode.

Unicron showed up a few more times in this universe. He showed up again in 2005 in events similar to his appearance in ''The Transformers: The Movie''. In 2007, he used mind control to force [[Junkion]]s to build him a new body out of the planet of Junk. And in the far, far, future, his essence began to corrupt the Matrix itself, turning Rodimus Prime evil and forcing him into isolation.

====The Transformers: The Movie====

[[Image:Unicronplanet.jpg|right|thumb|Oh, shit! What are we gonna do now?]]

In his first documented appearance, Unicron was known as a giant Transformer which devoured everything in his path. After the Battle of Autobot City, [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and several dead Decepticons were dumped in space. Unicron reformatted Megatron into [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and out of the dead Decepticons, he created [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]], and Scourge's [[Sweeps]]. He ordered them to destroy the Matrix.

Galvatron returned with the Matrix, but intended to use it to make Unicron his slave. Unicron ate him. After eating two of Cybertron's moons, Unicron attacked Cybertron. [[Shockwave]] and the rest of the Decepticons, at the time in control of Cybertron, fought back, but this had little effect. Unicron swallowed many spaceships, one of which contained the young Autobot [[Hot Rod]]. Hot Rod and Galvatron battled deep inside Unicron. Ultimately, Hot Rod was able to retake the Matrix, change into Rodimus Prime, defeat Galvatron, and use the Matrix to destroy Unicron. Unicron's body exploded, though its head remained intact and orbited Cybertron.

====Generation 1 animated series====
[[Image:Primacron.jpg|right|thumb|Primacron, the one responsible for Unicron's construction. Thanks so much, Primacon.]]
Unicron had no explained origin in the movie, but later, in the third season episode "[[Call of the Primitives]]", his history in the animated continuity was revealed - Unicron was created near the beginning of time by an ancient genius called [[Primacron]], to destroy the universe for him to remake in his own image. But Unicron decided that he would be the one to rule the universe, not Primacron, and rebelled against his creator, voyaging out into the vast expanse of space.

[[Image:Unicron_head_orbit.jpg|left|thumb|Unicron's head orbited Cybertron through much of the third season.]]
His destruction in the movie was not the last the Transformers saw of Unicron - the ghost of Starscream reactivated his severed head and entered into a bargain with Unicron, performing three labours in exchange for the restoration of his body. [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and Scourge gathered for Unicron [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s eyes (breaking one and replacing it with one from [[Trypticon]]) and Trypticon's [[transformation cog]], and then connected his head to Cybertron, which would become Unicron's new body. Starscream demanded that Unicron restore his body so that he could complete the connection; but once Unicron had done so, Starscream double-crossed him and refused to finish the job. Unicron's head was subsequently blown off into space by an explosion instigated by the Autobots.

Later, when searching for a new supply of anti-electrons, the Decepticons ventured to Unicron's head, where Cyclonus and Scourge accidentally awoke the slumbering demi-god. At the same time, Grimlock - who had gained super-intelligence through an infusion of anti-electrons - had constructed from pieces of Unicron's head the [[Technobot]]s, and one of their number, [[Strafe (G1)|Strafe]], severed enough of Unicron's neural connections to shut him back down.

Unlike the comics portrayal, Unicron is shown to be a large transforming machine and not a godlike being.

In the series, Unicron's role was taken on by [[Roger C. Carmel]].

===Beast era===
====Omega Point====
[[Image:Unicrons_dark_essence.jpg|thumb|left|''Beast Wars'' Megatron and time-traveler Windrazor fight above the Dark Essence.]]
Following his destruction in 2006, Unicron's severed lifeforce was displaced in time to Earth's distant past, prior to the Beast Wars. It rested in the pit caused by its own impact, quiescent for many millenia, until found by a Predacon known as The Hunter around the Machine Era.

Taking the name [[Shokaract]], he used this Dark Essence to conquer, ruling over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future.

Due to severe time-travel mischief, the events leading up to Shokaracts's timeline were averted when
the Dark Essence fled Earth from the Beast Wars.

====Dark Essence====
[[Image:Matrix_of_conquest.jpg|thumb|right|The Matrix of Conquest served as a container for Unicron’s power.]]

The Dark Essence possessed only rudimentary intelligence, lacking the full force of Unicron's personality. It appears Unicron's Spark remained with his severed head (which has a back-up spark chamber) in 2005, while his power was displaced in time.

Is it unclear if this displacement was accidental, or represents an attemt by Unicron to preserve his power.

Shokaract contained the Dark Essence within a [[Matrix of Conquest]] from which he drew his powers.
This is very similar to the relationship between Primus and the Matrix of Leadership, where The Matrix holds the majority of his power, leaving Primus himself weak. The Matrix of Conquest appears to be unique to Shokaract's timeline branch, and would not exist outside of it.

====Beast Wars II and Neo====
[[Image:BWNeo Unicron.JPG|thumb|left|Unicron's show apearance in ''Beast Wars Neo''.]]

After the events of ''The Transformers: The Movie'', Unicron's lifeforce (the green energy seen exploding from his body) raced across time and space until it landed on the distant world of [[Gaia]], riddling itself into the planet's surface. His lifeforce caused many strange phenomenon all over the planet, and was eventually dubbed [[Angolmois]] energy.

It proved to be a powerful energy source, leaving [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] to attempt to harvest the energy for himself. Using his massive spacecraft, the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], he sucked all the the Angolmois energy out of the planet and into the craft. However, after the interference of [[Lio Convoy]] and [[Lio Junior]], Galvatron sealed all the Angolmois energy into capsules and ejected them from the Nemesis as it self-destructed.

[[Big Convoy]] and [[Magmatron]] then raced to collect the angolmois capsules, as their energy effects were wreaking havoc on planets all over the galaxy. They eventually collected all the capsules only to find themselves attacked by the mysterious, and freakish, [[Blentron]]s. The Blentrons proved nearly invincible and stole the capsules from each team. They released the Angolmois energy and allowed it to possess Galvatron's dead body. Unicron was reborn once more.

Unicron then absorbed the last remaining ounce of stray Angolmois energy, the Blentrons, and left to settle his score with Cybertron. The [[Maximal Elder]]s attempted to hold Unicron off with their entire armada, but Unicron's fiery serpent mode proved too much and he effortlessly destroyed the armada and the Maximal Elders. Unicron then possessed [[Vector Sigma]], the mother computer of [[Cybertron]], effectively possessing the planet. He then morphed the planet into his new body, fulfilling the goal he originally attempted back in 2006 (or 2010, since this is Japanese continuity).

Unicron briefly exited Vector Sigma to deal with the last remaining Cybertronian resistance. Big Convoy, his Maximal new recruits, Lio Convoy and Magmatron all fought side-by-side against Unicron, but all they managed to do was stall him. Big Convoy then powered up his Big Cannon with his own [[Leadership Matrix]], transforming it into the Matrix Buster. Big Convoy shot Unicron with the weapon, the powerful blast seemingly destroying the Chaos Bringer. Unicron's spirit was then evicted from Vector Sigma, returning Cybertron to normal.

====Universe====

[[Image:UnicronDeathstarII.jpg|thumb|right|Unicron's ruined body in ''Transformers: Universe''.]]
After being defeated by the [[Wreckers]], Unicron floated in ruin. Using what energies he had left, he called Transformers from various corners of the multiverse inside him to do battle. He feasted upon the sparks of the losers, growing ever more powerful. Primus countered this by calling his own army from the multiverse, led by [[Optimus Primal]]. Primal was able to set free the captives inside Unicron and begin a new war between the Minions of Unicron and the Children of Primus.

====Dreamwave continuity====
=====Armada=====
[[Image:Unicronarmada.jpg|thumb|left|Armada Unicron]]
Unicron sends forth heralds to prepare the Armadaverse for his arrival.

=====Energon=====
[[Alpha Quintesson]] and the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]]s try to revive Unicron.

====Animated continuity====
=====Armada=====

Disguised as Cybertron's moon, Unicron created the race of small robots known as the [[Mini-Cons]] to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war. When conflict exists, Unicron can feed off the energies released.

When the Mini-Cons found their way to Earth, they were followed by the Autobots and Decepticons. Unicron dispatched an agent, [[Sideways]], created from part of himself, to carry on his work. Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Cons weapons - the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]], the [[Skyboom Shield]] and the [[Requiem Blaster]], the three keys that were then used to awaken Unicron.

As Unicron turned on Cybertron, the Mini-Cons broke free of his control, deactivating him - but when [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] then began his final battle with [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], the hatred and ferocity of the fight awoke Unicron once more.

To end the circle of hate that gave Unicron life, Galvatron allowed himself to be consumed by the monster, and in a brilliant flash of light, Unicron apparently ceased to exist.

=====Energon=====

[[Image:Energon Unicron.jpg|thumb|right|Unicron sported awesome colors during ''Energon''.]]
Alas, it was not to be, for there is always hate in the universe. Having survived, Unicron started to consume worlds in the far reaches of space, with the Transformers unaware of his deeds. One such unfortunate world was [[Planet Q]], but the general of that world's armies detonated the planet's core as Unicron consumed it, heavily damaging him and forcing him into dormancy - and within Unicron, the spark of Planet Q's leader, [[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]], still existed, and recreated his planet's armies as Terrorcons to gather [[Energon]] to regenerate all the worlds Unicron had consumed.

However, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body.

The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.
Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. In the ensuing battle between Unicron and the super-powered [[Optimus Supreme]], Unicron's body was successfully destroyed.

But unbeknownst to anyone, he lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudgings, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservior of "[[Super Energon]]" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure.

After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron once again sacrificed himself in order to stop Unicron, plunging himself into the infant sun, which ignited and gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds.

=====Cybertron=====

[[Image:Unicroncybertron.jpg|thumb|left|The Planet-Eater's back, and you're gonna be in trouble...]]

Primus' plan to trap Unicron in the heart of a new sun failed, and instead resulted in a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] (or Unicron Singularity) that threatened the multiverse. His heralds [[Ramjet (Universe)|Ramjet]] and [[Nemesis Prime (Universe)|Nemesis Prime]] travelled to Cybertron to unleash the [[Dead Matrix]] upon Primus' vulnerable essence.

Vector Prime was able to defeat Ramjet and send him into the black hole in which Unicron was trapped, while [[Sentinel Maximus (Universe)|Sentinel Maximus]] with the help of [[Omega Prime (Universe)|Omega Prime]] was able to stop Nemesis Prime from unleashing the power of the [[Dead Matrix]] on Primus. However, [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] and [[Laserbeak (Cybertron)|Laserbeak]] were able to retrieve the Dead Matrix, and they brought it to ground zero of the Unicron Singularity. With some adjustments, the Dead Matrix was able to extract Unicron's lifeforce from the black hole, and, after the lifeforce consumed the planet [[Yst]], the Dark God exploded from the remains reborn.

==Toys==
===Armada===
[[Image:Unicrontoyarmada.jpg|right|thumb|And the fandom rejoiced (and complained).]]
*'''Unicron'''
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''MX-00'''
:Unicron from the ''Armada'' toyline was a orange and transparent purple Supreme toy that could transform into a planet. It featured many Mini-Con ports on the planet's rings and had compartments for Mini-Cons. One Mini-Con port on the back of the robot activated blinking eye lights and a cannon that bursts from the chest and shoots a missile. A button on the top of the head also activated the blinking eye lights. The Mini-Con Dead End was sold with Unicron and could turn into a moon to go with Unicron's planet mode. For additional interactivity, Dead End could plug into the crater on Unicron's planet mode to serve as a gun.

This toy was also very notable for being the first "modern" Transformers release in the main line at the $50-price point. Due to his success, other releases like Energon Omega Supreme and Omega Sentinel came into being proving that there is indeed a demand for a high-end, large transforming toy in today's marketplace. (Of course, this didn't stop the item for being blown out as low as $10 in select markets.)

===Energon===
*'''Unicron'''
:Unicron from the ''Energon'' toyline was a redeco of ''Armada'' Unicron, being sported in black and transparent orange, with "Energon damage" patterns. Dead End was sold in different colors with ''Energon'' Unicron. Collectors should take note: the Energon packaging shipped with either the orange Armada Unicron or the black Energon Unicron inside. As such, take care when purchasing an Energon Unicron to ensure you get the one you meant to purchase.
*'''Unicron''' (European Happy Meal)
:The Happy Meal Unicron toy was based on ''Energon'' Unicron, being primarily black. It is very small, and the transformation consists of simply opening the planet mode to reveal the robot.

===Cybertron===
*'''Unicron'''
:Unicron in the ''Cybertron'' line was a Deluxe that transformed into a futuristic tank.
:Certain shipments of ''Cybertron''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Cybertron Primus toy had a pack-in Unicron head. The head was based on ''Armada'' Unicron's and half of the face stripped away to reveal a robotic "skull". To provide the impression of locomotion, tentacles were added to the base of the head.

===Unproduced Unicron toys===
*Unicron (G1 Hasbro)
:An unproduced toy for Unicron was to have been released in Generation 1. It was a blue and yellow robot about one foot tall and was able to transform into a planet. It was to have come with a voice chip, and a "planet microphone" to allow owners to speak through the toy. It is very fat. It was only shown on display at [[BotCon 1996]].
*Unicron (G1 Takara)
:Takara was to release a toy similiar to Hasbro's attempt, but it was green and yellow, possessing different paint applications. It also was to come with a base that set up a "planetary system" with Unicron and a moon.
[[Image:Neocron.jpg|thumb|In crazy, backwards universe, we should've gotten this rather than ''Armada'' Unicron.]]
*Unicron (''Beast Wars Neo'')
:Takara tried again to produce a Unicron toy, only going as far as the resin stage. It was said to be around the size of Optimus Primal, and had several gimmicks, such as a laughing face when the horns were squeezed, and a claw and a drill that were stored in the planet "shell" in robot mode. One hardcopy was shown at the Tokyo Toy Fare.
==Trivia==
[[Image:Model-TheEntity.jpg|thumb|right|250px|Early Unicron model sheet.]]

*In early preproduction for ''The Transformers: The Movie'', Unicron was referred to as the '''Entity'''.

*A model sheet from later in the movie's preproduction revealed that, at one point, the ''planet'' Unicron would turn into the ''robot'' '''Ingestor'''. This idea was, obviously, dropped before the film's release.
'''Optimus Prime''' is the awe-inspiring commander of the Autobot forces. It was his leadership that turned the tide of the Great War. Originally a mere civilian, he was chosen by the Matrix to lead, the first in a number of heavy burdens he has been forced to bear. Another is his bringing of the Transformers' conflict to Earth. Every casualty, human or Cybertron, weighs heavily on his [[spark]]. He does not show this side to his soldiers, and he never succumbs to despair. The Autobots need a decisive, charismatic leader, and that is what he gives them.

On the battlefield, there are few who rival Optimus Prime's prowess. He is easily the strongest of any Autobot his size, and what he lacks in raw firepower he easily compensates with guts. His compassion for other sentient beings is his only real weakness... though it's also the source of his strength!

Prime carries within him the [[Matrix of Leadership]].
====Generation One====
''(Note: Events from the UK-only comic stories are in italics.)''

''Before the [[Great War]] broke out on Cybertron, the robot who would be Optimus Prime (his name before becoming the Prime Autobot remains unknown) was a Transformer of note, displaying his skills in the Infraformers Sharpshooting Competition.'' Subsequently, when the war began, Prime quickly made a name for himself as a combat leader. On a mission with the [[Triggerbot (G1)|Triggerbots]] to stop [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] from claiming the [[Underbase]], Prime was forced to jettison the massive databank into space to prevent anyone acquiring its power, but with this action, proved his wisdom and skill to the [[Autobot Council of Elders]]. ''The outbreak of the Great War saw Autobot territories falling under Decepticon dominion, one City-State at a time. The last City-State to be taken was the Autobot capital of [[Iacon]]. As Decepticons besieged Iacon, the Council of Elders prepared to surrender. Councillor [[Xaaron]] suggested that High Councillor [[Traachon]] step down and allow a military officer to assume Autobot leadership. Traachon then used his powers of veto and effectively elected himself out of office, allowing Optimus Prime to assume supreme command of the Autobots, becoming the first soldier to ever hold the mantle of Autobot leadership.''

Four million years ago, Cybertron - shaken from its orbit and drifting through space - came under threat when it floated into the path of a massive asteroid swarm that could potentially devastate the planet. Prime led a group of his most powerful Autobot warriors on the Autobot starship, the Ark, on a mission to destroy the asteroids, and although successful, in the aftermath of this mission the Ark was attacked by Decepticons, hoping to overcome their weakened foes. Intent on keeping the secrets of the Ark's computer, [[Auntie]], from the Decepticons, Prime set the craft on a suicide course, crashing it into the prehistoric planet Earth.

In 1984 C.E., a volcanic eruption reactivated Auntie, which in turn brought the Transformers back on-line. Prime led the Autobots in their opening battles to prevent the Decepticons from plundering Earth's resources, but following their initial victory, the Autobots were all deactivated by [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]. Prime was decapitated by Shockwave, and had the energy of the Creation Matrix leeched from his mind to give life to Shockwave's creations, the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] (although Shockwave was unaware that the Matrix was not merely a program in Prime's mind, but a physical object in his chest). Before Shockwave could give life to his next Decepticon, [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]], Prime transferred the Matrix energy into the mind of [[Buster Witwicky]], who used the energy to turn Jetfire on Shockwave, allowing Prime to reclaim his body and retake leadership of the Autobots, giving Jetfire true life as a reward.

After a period of effective leadership, Prime engaged Megatron in a [[video game]] duel for possession of a super fuel. Prime was victorious, but Megatron implemented a cheat code, allowing him to re-enter the game. Prime was able to defeat him yet again, but in doing so, he also destroyed several of the game sprites, and refused to accept his victory, as he had performed an action that compromised his beliefs about the preservation of life, which he would never have done, had the duel been real. In accordance with the rules of the game, Prime's body exploded and he died. Autobot surgeon [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]'s subsequent efforts to restore him were unsuccessful, and his body was launched into space. The funeral barge eventually crashed on giant moon where it lay for untold time. At one stage, an alien ship crashed near the barge. The dying alien reached out toward the Matrix, with the Matrix choosing to revive the being as Death Bringer. Much later, the Matrix would revive a small predatory animal which would prove instrumental to the conclusion of the Matrix Quest.

Prime's personality had been copied onto a [[floppy disk]] by the technician running the game, [[Ethan Zachary]], who employed him in various video game scenarios he developed. Prime's damaged mind led him to belive that he himself was a video game character, and in an attempt to bring him back to life, [[Bumblebee (G1)|Goldbug]], [[Joyride (G1)|Joyride]], [[Slapdash (G1)|Slapdash]], and [[Getaway (G1)|Getaway]] took the disk to the planet [[Nebulos]], where a new body was constructed for Prime. They built a new body for Optimus Prime, and even upgraded it with the ability to combine with the trailer to form a larger robot. In an effort to keep Transformers off their planet, however, the Nebulans had poisoned their fuel, and the sensation of dying convinced Prime that he was truly alive, and not a game character. To save his life, the Nebulan scientist [[Hi-Q]] [[binary-bonding|bonded]] with him, creating '''[[Powermaster]] Optimus Prime'''.

Powermaster Prime and his Autobots later battled [[Death Bringer]]. ''Optimus Prime immediately sensed Matrix energies emanating from Death Bringer, and realised that the undead reaper was a creation of the Matrix. Although Death Bringer proved to be invulnerable, Optimus Prime was finally able to defeat it by convincing it to self-destruct in concordance with its primary function. The battle with Death Bringer alerted Optimus Prime to the fact that his old body was still out there somewhere in space, and more importantly, that the Matrix that it carried was also with it. With a war to win, the location of the Matrix was not a high priority.''

With the subsequent threat of [[Unicron]] looming, priorites quickly changed and Prime began a quest to locate his old body and the physical Matrix object within it. When the Matrix was successfully reacquired, Prime sacrificed his life one more time to destroy Unicron by plunging the Matrix into his maw. However, the Powermaster process had been working to fully bond Prime and Hi-Q, and with Prime now destroyed, the process completed itself in Hi-Q's body, and the two minds and souls became one. Hi-Q's biomechanical body was stripped down and reconstructed by the [[Last Autobot]], creating a brand new Optimus Prime.
====Generation Two====
[[image:Optimusprime-g2.jpg|right|thumb|Generation Two Optimus Prime from the Marvel Comics.]]
Prime was plagued by visions of the [[Swarm]] - a destructive by-product of Transformer reproduction - entering into an alliance with Megatron against it and the forces of the second-generation [[Cybertronians]] led by [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]]. Prime's body was destroyed yet again when he confronted the Swarm, but upon releasing the energy of the Matrix into it, purifying it, Prime was reborn by the repentant creature. At the end of the battle, Prime’s dream of reuniting the two races of Transformers into a single force for good seemed to be a possibility when the [[Autobot]]s and [[Decepticon]]s fought side by side against a common foe.

Optimus Prime began his life as a robot named '''Orion Pax''', a simple dock worker during the Golden Age of Cybertron nine million years ago, with a girlfriend named [[Elita One (G1)|Ariel]], and a best friend named [[Dion (G1)|Dion]]. At the time, a new breed of robot had recently appeared on the planet - ones with new robot-mode flight powers that made Orion idolize them. Unfortunately for Orion, when [[Megatron_(G1)|Megatron]], the leader of these robots, approached him with inquiries about using one of the dock warehouses, Orion fell for the deception and he and Ariel were fatally wounded when Megatron and his forces then attacked in order to claim the energy stored there. Searching for someone to help them, the time-displaced [[Aerialbots_(G1)|Aerialbots]] took Orion and Ariel to the ancient Autobot [[Alpha Trion]], who used them as the first subjects for the new reconstruction process he had developed - rebuilding the frail Autobot frames into battle-hardy configurations. With this reconstruction, Orion Pax became Optimus Prime, the first of the Autobot warriors, who took the mantle of leadership as the civil war against Megatron and Decepticons erupted, while Ariel was rebuilt into [[Elita One (G1)|Elita One]], the commander of the Autobot resistance on Cybertron.

[[Image:Optimusmtmtep1.jpg|thumb|right|Turn INTO the skid.]]

As leader of the Autobots, Prime headed up the Autobots' mission to search out new worlds with new sources of energy to revitalise the depleted Cybertron. However, shortly after its launch, the [[Ark (G1)|Autobots' craft]] was attacked by the [[Nemesis|Decepticon space cruiser]] and boarded by Megatron and the Decepticons. In the ensuing struggle, the g-forces of a nearby planet pulled both crafts down, and the Autobots' ship crashed into a volcano, thrusting all the occupants of the ship into emergency stasis. Four million years later, in the Earth year 1984 C.E., a volcanic eruption jarred the ship's computer, [[Teletraan I]] back to life, and it reactivated the Decepticons, programming them with new Earth-based disguise modes. As a petty parting gesture, [[Starscream_(G1)|Starscream]] fired upon the Autobot ship, creating a landslide that knocked Prime into the path of the computer's restoration beam, restoring him to life, and beginning the war anew on Earth.

Prime was perpetually at the forefront of the action throughout the early years of the war on Earth, usually confronting Megatron, and, in some rare instances, being forced to team up with him for the greater good (or the lesser evil). He has suffered his fair share of battlefield scrapes, almost meeting his end when his vital [[cosmotron]] component was critically damaged by the Decepticon jets and [[Laserbeak_(G1)|Laserbeak]], and suffering a severe - though unfair - defeat when Megatron challenged him to one-on-one comabt while imbued with the different powers of all the Decepticons.

Generally, Prime acting in a commanding role as part of larger battles and event, but played prominent and solo roles in a few, also. In 1985, Megatron created a perfect duplicate of him, leaving the Autobots unable to differentiate between the two until the clone disregarded the safety of their human companion, [[Spike Witwicky]], exposing the deception. Later in the same year, Prime's fame and prowess led him to become the target of the demented big-game hunter, [[Lord Chumley]], who sought his head to go along with his other rare trophies. Entering the hunter's estate alone, Prime defeated all the traps and beasts lying in wait and brought Chumley to justice. The same year also saw Elita One captured by the Decepticons on Cybertron and used to lure Prime there alone; although knowing it was a trap, he ventured in solo and was defeated by the Decepticons and nearly destroyed, until Elita's stasis-field powers froze time long enough for them to escape. Prime was forced to seek out Alpha Trion to save the wounded Elita's life, and in the process, rediscovered his forgotten connection to his creator.

[[Image:Optimusg1passingthematrix.jpg|thumb|left|Oh, hey, I have this in me now, by the way.]]

Over the course of the next twenty years, the [[Decepticon]]s succeeded in seizing control of all of [[Cybertron (planet|Cybertron]], forcing the Autobots to operate from their new city on Earth, and from two bases on Cybertron's moons. In the Earth year 2005 C.E., Prime was stationed on [[Moonbase One]], and dispatched troops to Earth to acquire energy for an upcoming strike on Cybertron. The Decepticons, however, got wind of the plan and used the shuttle run to attack Autobot City; a distress call summoned Prime and support troops to Earth, and in the ensuing battle with Megatron, Optimus Prime sustained fatal injuries, but not before turning the tide of battle and forcing the Decepticon to flee. Despite the efforts of [[Perceptor_(G1)|Perceptor]], Optimus Prime died. The [[Matrix of Leadership]], and with it leadership of the Autobots, fell into the hands of [[Ultra Magnus_(G1)|Ultra Magnus]], and subsequently to [[Hot_Rod_(G1)|Rodimus Prime]].

Prime's body was entombed in a massive deep-space mausoleum with the many other fallen Autobots, but his corpse was desecrated by the [[Quintessons]] in 2006, when they reanimated it as part of an attempt to destroy the Autobots by using Prime to lure their space fleet into a trap. However, the Matrix was able to purify Prime of the Quintesson influence, and he got the other Autobots clear while he piloted his flagship into the Quintessons' detonator, triggering the explosion of a nearby sun. Prime was believed to have been destroyed in the explosion, but in reality, before the flagship impacted with the detonator, his body was recovered from the craft by two human scientists, [[Jessica Morgan]] and [[Dr. Gregory Swafford]]. However, as their ship departed, it was coated in solar spores released by the explosion of the sun. Jessica's father, [[Dr. Mark Morgan]], loathed the Autobots, and his hatred only grew when an attempt by the Decepticons to steal a heat-resistant alloy he had developed resulted in Jessica being paralysed. Swafford and Morgan reconstructed Optimus Prime's body in an attempt to use it as a delivery system for the spores, which induced hatred and madness, in order to destroy the Transformers. However, when they could not reanimate him, they used his body as a lure instead, bringing the Autobots to their lab, where they were infected. As this "[[Hate Plague]]" proceeded to spread across the galaxy, [[Sky Lynx_(G1)|Sky Lynx]] retrieved a Quintesson, who fully restored Optimus Prime to life. Coating himself in Morgan's heat-resistant alloy, Prime reclaimed the Matrix from Rodimus and unleashed its concentrated wisdom to destroy the Hate Plague.

In 2007, Prime began to suffer visions following the release of the Matrix's energy, which foretold a great transformation for Cybertron. Events began with the Decepticons' theft of the key to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]], which forced Prime to consult Alpha Trion within [[Vector Sigma]], learning that the mega-computer had orchestrated events in order to restore Cybertron's Golden Age. When the Plasma Energy Chamber was opened and threatened to drive Earth's Sun supernova, [[Spike Witwicky]] and the other organic [[Nebulans]] who had become involved in the conflict as a result of these events were able to drain off the excess solar energy and revitalize Cybertron.

One year after Prime's resurrection, the Autobots had entered into an even closer relationship with Earth and began the colonization of other worlds, the first of which was the planet Athenia, where Optimus Prime was stationed. It soon became apparent, however, that when Prime had released the energy of the Matrix to cure the Hate Plague, the consequences were more far-reaching than he had anticipated - without the energy of the Matrix to act as a balancing factor, [[Vector Sigma]] had become destabilized, and the Decepticons suddenly returned to exploit this, assaulting Cybertron in order to seize control of the mega-computer. Prime took a squad of troops to aid in the battle on the planet, and when the arrival of the Autobot [[Headmaster]]s tipped the battle in their favor, Prime broke off from the main attack and headed down into the depths of the planet, planning on stabilizing Vector Sigma at any cost.

Guided through the dangers of the planet's catacombs by the spirit of Alpha Trion while the other Autobots searched for the Matrix on Earth, Prime eventually arrived at the computer, only to find his way barred by [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] and [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]]. Hot Rod then arrived with the Matrix, with which Alpha Trion merged, re-energizing it and transforming Hot Rod back into Rodimus Prime; for the first time, the two Primes fought side-by-side and defeated Galvatron.

Before Rodimus could implement the Matrix to stabilize Vector Sigma, however, Optimus Prime sacrificed himself to perform the task, merging with the computer and restoring its balance to save the planet.
Optimus Prime took a new Missle Trailer body and repelled the Decepticons with a new Generation of Autobots. But After being fatally wounded by Megatron, Prime used his [[Reconfiguration Matrix]] to build himself a new body, becoming '''Battle Convoy'''. [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], in a desperate gambit, decided to attempt to change history by killing Optimus Prime, who was still laying in the Ark in [[stasis lock]]. Megatron hoped that this would result in the Decepticons winning the Great War and eventually [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] control of Cybertron. Megatron unleashed a full-power weapon blast at Optimus Prime's face, near-fatally injuring him. However, [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]] proceeded to take Prime's spark into his body to protect it from surgical trauma while his injuries were repaired. The subsequent power increase caused by Prime's spark's connection to the Matrix mutated Primal into a large, [[Transmetal]] "Optimal Optimus" form. Then, with the repairs complete, Prime's spark was restored, and he briefly activated before sinking back into normal stasis.
[[Image:Optronix_optimus.jpg|thumb|right|Optronix becoming Optimus Prime through the power of the [[Matrix]].]]
Optimus Prime started life as '''Optronix''' (Orion to his friends), a data archivist. After taking note of a battle in which the Autobot leader [[Sentinel Prime (G1)|Sentinel Prime]] had been defeated by Megatron, he was summoned to the council of elders and informed that the Matrix had chosen him to be the next leader of the Autobots. He received the Matrix of Leadership shortly thereafter, gaining a powerful new body in the process, and almost arranged for the Autobot evacuation of Cybertron, intending to leave the Decepticons to their own devices, until a battle with Megatron beneath the planet's surface, accompanied by visions from the Matrix, stirred him on to fight for the safety of his homeworld. Some time into his role as leader, Prime disappeared in a [[space bridge]] explosion along with Megatron, but returned some time later, having spent a period of time on [[Quintessa]].

Following the awakening of the Transformers on Earth, the Autobots allied with humankind and eventually defeated the Decepticons at the turn of the century. They planned to return to Cybertron aboard the newly constructed "Ark II," but the ship was destroyed as part of a military conspiracy to take control of the Transformers. However, a terrorist organization run by the enigmatic [[Lazarus]] was able to seize control of several of the Transformers that fell back to Earth, while the U.S. military located Prime's body. Before his departure, Prime had entrusted a small portion of the Matrix to [[Spike Witwicky]], who was forced by the product chief, General [[Robert Hallo]], to use it to reactivate Prime. Functional again, Prime used the Matrix to reactivate more of his fallen comrades, and then faced off against Megatron in [[San Francisco]].

Following this, Prime began to experience subconscious urgings, leading both the Autobots and the Decepticons to the Arctic Circle, where Shockwave arrived to greet them - and arrest them as war criminals. Shockwave had succeeded in ending the war on Cybertron, but Prime soon fell in with a rebel Autobot group that had discovered Shockwave had a greater agenda. Rallying Autobots across Cybertron to the cause, Prime faced Shockwave in battle but was defeated and had the Matrix ripped from him and used to activate Vector Sigma. Before Shockwave could make full use of the mega-computer's data, however, Prime's brother [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] arrived and bested him. The injuries Prime took in this conflicted necessitated a prolonged restoration period in stasis.
''Megatron is a [[Decepticon]] character in the [[Unicron Trilogy]]. When in his powered-up form, is known as '''Galvatron'''.''

'''Megatron''' is not content with conquest of [[Cybertron_(planet)|Cybertron]]. When he learns of powers greater than his own, he does not attempt to merely defeat them. He will subjugate them, bend them to his will, carve up their corpse and integrate their power into himself. He is a monster. Megatron tempers this barbarism with regal militaristic formality. He calls his closest troops "gentlemen." He speaks politely and intelligently. He makes it perfectly clear that he is completely cognizant of his madness.

Megatron's only weakness is his obsession with [[Optimus_Prime_(UT)|Optimus Prime]]. No matter how much power he attains, his final, glorious battle must be against him. On the occasions Prime has seemingly been destroyed, Megatron has sunk into a deep depression. Once Optimus Prime is gone, there may be no further challenges in this universe.
The toy for Megatron is a Leader-class and transforms into a modern-style tank. His partner Mini-Con, Leader-1, can be used to reveal extra guns, pull out a hidden dagger, and activate a variety of electronic lights and sounds. Additionally, the Mini-Con itself can be transformed into a gun for Megatron to use. The original release of the toy is primarily green, with red, black, and silver accents. The re-release, a redeco called Galvatron, is mostly purple and gray with some gold accents and several black "battle damage" marks.

===Energon===
The toy for Megatron is a Leader-class and transforms into a futuristic jet. He is packaged with a black miniature replica of Armada Megatron's vehicle mode (tank), which can be used as a gun weapon of its own or combined with a concealed blade to form a sword weapon. Pulling out certain sections of the wings opens them up to reveal small guns. The original release is mostly white, with dark blue accents and clear-green "Hyper Power" parts (the gimmick of the Energon-series Decepticons).

===Cybertron===
The toy for Megatron is a Leader class and transforms into a Batmobile-style car and a jet. His Cyber Key activates his Death Machine Gun, Death Claw, and boosters, for when in vehicle mode. The original release is a fairly even mix of green, orange, purple, and black, while the re-release, called Galvatron again, is primarily gray and silver with some black and red parts.

The '''Golden Disk''' is a recurring object throughout the Beast Wars series, beginning with the first episode, [[Beast Wars, Part 1]]. It plays a major role in the escalation of the conflict between the [[Maximal]]s and the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]], and lead to the death of a major character. It was destroyed in the episode [[Code of Hero]], but the Predacon leader, [[Megatron_(BW)|Megatron]] recovered one of the shards and used it in the episode [[The Agenda, Part 2]] to escape capture at the hands of a Cybertronian government agent.

==Major Appearances by Episode==
===Season One===
====[[Beast Wars, Part 1]]====
The Predacons steal the Golden Disk from the [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] archives. Megatron claims that the disk holds the location of a vast store of energon, with which the Predacon commander believes he can reignite the Great War against the Maximals.

===Season Two===
====[[Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1]]====
[[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] breaks into the [[Darkside|Predacon base]] and steals the Golden Disk.

'''''Incomplete'''''

==Origins==
===Within ''Beast Wars''===
Sometime within roughly a decade of when the Transformers aboard the [[Ark]] awoke in the eruption of [[Mount Saint Hilary]] (possibly earlier, possibly later) the humans of planet Earth launched a spacecraft to study the outer planets in their solar system. Attached to this spacecraft was a gold disk which contained information about Earth. The Decepticon leader, [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], at some point encoded an additional message on the disk.

''(Megatron is shown writing to the disk in a mildly abstract sequence that makes it difficult to pin down. He may have intercepted the space probe in interplanetary space, or he may have done his work before the probe was launched.)''

Megatron's message was even more of a "message in a bottle" than the disk itself, although the complete message was never revealed. He orders any Decepticons who might, in the future, come across the message to use [[transwarp]] technology to achieve some particular end -- exactly what, however, is unrevealed because the disk was destroyed before the message was ever played on-camera. [[Megatron (BW)|BW Megatron]] plays only a surviving fragment of the message for [[Ravage]]. Presumably, the rest of the message indicates the location of the Ark and asks that future Decepticons use transwarp to travel through time and rewrite history, much as BW Megatron attempts to do.

At some point between G1 Megatron adding his message to the disk and the beginning of the ''Beast Wars'' series, the spacefract holding the disk -- or perhaps only the disk -- fell into the hands of the Transformers. BW Megatron is said to have stolen the disk from the Cybertron Archives, where it was seemingly considered a precious artifact, even though the general population of Maximals had no idea what it really was. The [[Maximal Elder]]s were presumably aware of the Disk's origin.

The nature of the connection between the Golden Disk and the mysteriously similar [[Alien Disk]] is completely unknown.

===The real Golden Disk===

The Golden Disk that appears in ''Beast Wars'' is based on a real object: In 1977, NASA launched two sparecraft called ''Voyager 1'' and ''Voyager 2'', which flew by our planetary system's four gas giants. (Jupiter and Saturn were visited by both craft, Uranus and Neptune only by ''Voyager 2''.) The ''Pioneer 10'' and ''11'' spacecraft which preceded them had carried copies of a plaque depicting human beings and showing the location of Earth with respect to several highly-visible pulsars. For the ''Voyager'' mission, a more sophisticated message was composed.

The "disk" consists of a cover or canister -- on which a set of pictograms are found -- and a phonograph record inside the canister. The record, titled "The Sounds of Earth", has a "data" portion and a sound portion. In the data portion are over a hundred encoded images including photographs of the Earth and its lifeforms, as well as drawings of human biology and reproduction. The audio portion includes sounds of natural environments on Earth, wildlife, human voices, and music. The pictograms on the record's cover explain how to play the disc and decode the images.

As portrayed in ''Beast Wars'', the Golden Disk seems to be an amalgam of the cover and the record itself. It appears to be at least a few centimeters thick and has the cover's pictograms on one side, but the record grooves and title "The Sounds of Earth" on the other.

''Magmatron is a [[Predacon]] and a [[Dinobot]] in the [[Beast Wars]] and [[Beast Machines]] portions of the [[Generation 1]] continuity''

[[Image:Magmatronbm.jpg|right|thumb|Part robot, part 3 different prehistoric animals, all jerk.]]

As befits a decorated Warrior-General '''Magmatron''' is capable of both elegant, reasoned judgement and wild, vicious action. Once he has set his sights on a goal his drive to achieve it is unwavering and he will accept nothing less than total victory. Despite these atributes, and prodigious physical power, Magmatron's greatest advantage often lies in his charasmatic leadership. Reveared and admired by his soldiers, Magmatron fits the title "Emperor of Destruction" better than most.

On the surface Magmatron seems to have much in common with [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]. Both are schemers and planners, willing to subvert the established Predacon power structure to suit their plans and ultimate ambition for power. Their key difference lies in their relationships to that power structure. Megatron is at heart a rebel, working outside existing society. Magmatron, on the other hand, values his position of power and eminence in the current Predacon hierarchy, and though he schemes to someday stand at the top of that body, he is unwilling to risk his current high-standings any more than he must even to achieve those future goals.

Magmatron possesses a mitotic [[spark]] which allows him to seperate into three dinosaur forms called '''Landsaur''', '''Seasaur''', and '''Skysaur'''.
==Fiction==
===''Beast Wars Neo'' cartoon===

After the defeat of [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]], the [[Tripredacus Council]] elected Magmatron as the new [[Predacon]] Emperor of Destruction. A loyal and effective servent to the cause of Predacon equality on [[Cybertron]], Magmatron was perfectly suited for the job. He had a long-standing rivalry with [[Big Convoy]], though there was a mutual respect between the two enemies.

On board his ship the [[Dinosaur (BWN)|Dinosaur]], he tracked Big Convoy and his [[Maximal]] recruits to the planet [[Gaia]] where he learned of the [[Angolmois]] capsules that had been launched from the self-destructing [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]]. Magmatron immediately set a course to track them down, desiring their incredible power. Competing with Big Convoy, Magmatron secured numerous capsules for the Predacons.

However, he did not keep them long. The [[Blentron|Blentrons]], a trio of super-powerful and freakish Transformers, stole the capsules from both factions. As it turned out, the Angolmois energy was really the lifeforce of [[Unicron]]. Offering up Galvatron's corpse as a new body, the Blentrons released the Angolmois energy and Unicron was reborn.

Magmatron immediately challenged the Chaos Bringer but was quickly vanquished into a wormhole, leaving his crew of Predacons leaderless and rather ineffective. Magmatron escaped the wormhole toward the end of the Unicron battle, after he had possessed Vector Sigma, and willingly fought side-by-side with Big Convoy and the Maximals to stop their mutual enemy.

After a lengthy battle, Unicron was defeated and driven from Vector Sigma by Big Convoy's Matrix Buster. Putting aside their rivalry, Big Convoy and Magmatron formed an alliance. The Maximals and Predacons then worked side-by-side and hand-in-hand to rebuild their ravaged planet.

===''Beast Wars Neo'' manga===
Magmatron and all his forces were changed into Transformers from actual animals by the power of the [[Angolmois]] capsules. Magmatron and [[Big Convoy]] battled across the cosmos, until Magmatron was finally felled by the might of [[Unicron]]. In his dying moments, he repented of his wrong-doings, and indeed, Big Convoy struck the blow that finished Unicron once and for all with Magmatron's own sword.
''Arcee is an [[Autobot]] in the [[Generation 1]] continuity.''

'''Arcee''' is a female Transformer, usually seen in the same general area as her friends and fellow Autobots [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] and [[Springer (G1)|Springer]], both of whom she cares for deeply. The level-headed and logical one of the three, it is usually Arcee who needs to reign in the other two when their egos or attitudes are getting out of control. In addition to being a fierce warrior and talented gunner, she also just might be one of [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap's]] ancestors.

=Fiction=
===Generation 1 Cartoon===
''Voice actress:'' [[Susan Blu]] (US), ? (Japan)

Although there are many other female Autobots, Arcee appears to be the only one to hold any sort of rank or position amongst the forces found in Autobot City. She seems to share the same basic design as the medical bots on the planet of [[Paradron]], implying that she may have begun her life as a medic before picking up the art of war. Certainly, during the assault on Autobot City her main role seemed to involve gathering the injured and dying Autobots (possibly for triage). Arcee was also instrumental in helping [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] transform Autobot City to repel the [[Decepticon]] invaders, buying precious time for reinforcements and likely saving many lives. She was among the few Autobots to survive [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron's]] savage blitz on the city, and was nearly left behind when [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] forced the Autobots to evacuate.

Arcee survived the attack, and the crash landing on the planet [[Junk|Junk]], all the while going to great lengths in order to protect and care for young Daniel Witwicky, a human friend of [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod's]] who had wound up on the shuttle with her. Throughout the entire battle with [[Unicron]], Daniel's safety was Arcee's top priority. The almost maternal connection between Daniel and Arcee was a powerful one, which was only strengthened some time later when they became binary bonded as [[Headmaster]] partners during an adventure on the planet [[Nebulos]].

====Headmasters====

''(The Headmasters anime ignores the events from the 3-part "The Rebirth" story arc)''

In 2011, Arcee either lost her taste for combat or was slapped into her place by the male Autobots. Mostly because, through-out Headmasters, she acted as [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress']] secretary. That is not an exaggeration... she was literally his secretary, filing reports, working computers and monitoring events. At one point she wanted to leave with [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]], [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] and [[Kup]] to search for a new homeworld after Cybertron blew up, but Rodimus told her to stay because women are useless. During a party shortly afterward, she slow-danced with [[Chromedome]] and the pair had ''something'' resembling a mutual attraction through-out the show (at one point, Chromedome becomes aroused at seeing her transformation from a car).

''Dammit'', Japan.

===Marvel UK Generation 1 Comics===

[[Image:Arcee-modelkit.jpg|right|thumb|150px|S.O.B's shot my Leia-buns!]]

Arcee was constructed by the Autobots as a good-will attempt to placate angry humans who thought that they were "sexist" for having no women in their group. After trying multiple times to explain that Autobots, being robots, had no genders, Optimus Prime gave up and ordered the resident mad scientists [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] to make a new Autobot who would meet the humans' demands for sexual equality.

Arcee's creators built her to resemble a human female, and programmed her with "feminine" responses in her personality matrix. Just to be on the safe side, they even painted her pink so that there could be no doubt that she was a girl. [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] gave her life, and held a public unveiling ceremony to introduce her to the public.

The humans' reactions were mixed, as were the rotten fruits and vegetables that many people started to throw at the Autobots. Apparently, according to the human females present, Arcee had been made ''too'' feminine - now, she was just supporting sexist stereotypes of what women were supposed to look and act like. They especially hated the fact that she was pink.

Being less picky when it came to appearances than the public, Optimus Prime decided to keep Arcee around after she managed to fight off a Decepticon attack on the stadium where she was being unveiled. During this attack, Arcee also managed to save the life of a young Autobot named [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]], who was suitably impressed and loudly declared how great she was.

Realising that even though they liked Arcee, the humans did not, and that they had no idea what would make the protestors happy, the Autobots decided to stop trying. This left Arcee in the unenviable postion of being both the first and the last female Autobot to ever exist.
*'''Arcee''' (Mega, 2001)

: The very first true transforming Arcee toy (and currently the ''only'' one of the Generation 1 character) is a [[redeco]] and minor [[retool]]ing of the ''[[Beast Wars]]'' [[Transmetal 2]] [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]], transforming into a malformed mish-mash of machine and organic parts in the form of a large spider. The spider-mode fangs become a grappling weapon for her robot mode which extend on a retractable string. The robot mode also features a spring-powered waist-swivel for "power kick" action. Arcee lacks the retail version's additional chest armor, and the oddly-placed holes in her... well, chest, that keep the armor in place.

: Arcee was available only as an [[exclusive]] to [[BotCon 2001]], and along with [[Tigatron (BW)|Tigatron]] were the first time since the inception of [[3H]] that they were allowed to use pre-existing characters for convention exclusives. Arcee is also the first convention toy to feature retooling. Attendees to the semi-formal dinner recieved their Arcees with a bonus; the box contained a light-sensitive sound chip featuring voice actress [[Susan Blu]]'s voice saying "Don't underestimate me, I'm more than just a pretty face. Arcee, MAXIMIZE!". These chips are VERY light-sensitve. Many won't shut up to this day.
Rattrap was a crewmember of the exploration ship [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']] when captain [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]] got word that the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] criminal [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] had stolen the [[Golden Disk]] and a [[Darkside|ship]] with [[transwarp]] capabilities. The ''Axalon'' was the closest vessel that also possessed a transwarp drive, so Rattrap's ship was sent to engage them. After following the Predacons through a transwarp portal and appearing above a mysterious planet, both ships were damaged in the ensuing space battle, and before both ships crashed into the planet's surface below, the [[stasis pod]]s carrying the rest of Rattrap's crew were ejected into orbit.
The planet was rich with [[energon]] -- so much so that prolonged exposure would short out their bodies, so the Maximals and Predacons were forced to take organic forms from the local creatures. Rattrap took the form of a rat. Rattrap was annoyed to be on an unknown planet with a young, experienced captain, and so he continually second-guessed Optimus Primal's command decisions. This made him few friends. Rattrap especially disliked Primal's decision to allow the Predacon [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] to join their team.

==Major Appearances by Episode==
===Season One===
====[[Beast Wars, Part 1]]====
The Predacons steal the Golden Disk from the [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] archives. Megatron claims that the disk holds the location of a vast store of energon, with which the Predacon commander believes he can reignite the Great War against the Maximals.

===Season Two===
====[[Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1]]====
[[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] breaks into the [[Darkside|Predacon base]] and steals the Golden Disk.

'''''Incomplete'''''

==Origins==
===Within ''Beast Wars''===

===The real Golden Disk===

'''Pepsi Convoy''' has but one mission -- to bring cool, refreshing carbonated beverages to the thirsty sentients across the galaxy. With his powerful [[CO2 gun]] and [[Bottle Station]], no thirst shall go unquenched!

He is made of a special sample of "[[sentient metal]]" originally developed by NASA that was entrusted to the [[Autobot|Autobots]]. This same metal makes up the mysterious thirst-quenching "superhero" [[Pepsiman]]. It is unknown if Pepsi Convoy shares other traits with Pepsiman, namely a good running speed, near-muteness and rather poor luck.
: In 1985, a special version of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was released with bonus Pepsi decals for his trailer in the US market. This toy was the inspiration for the 2005 Japanese reissue of the Optimus Prime toy as Pepsi Convoy, a much more... ''overt'' cross-branding. This release has several new Pepsi-themed paint masks and decals, as well as an entirely new trailer unit, specially designed to carry a single 500ml-size bottle (a common size in Japan), three 350ml cans, or 12 bottle caps (bottle cap figurines being a common and popular collectable item in Japan).
