A hyperactive wisecracker, Bumblebee is quite convinced he's the fastestm-and coolestm-thing on four wheels. He has a tendency to bite off more then he can chew, so it's a good thing he pals around with the massive Bulkhead. Bumblebee can save a little girl from a rampaging slug creature and retain his cheerfulness and good humor while doing so. He also calls Optimus "Big Bot"... sounds familiar.

His hands can transform intro electronic welders, which he can use to shoot electric jolts. Also, he has a strangely familiar faceplate—probably also for welding. Despite the fact that he maintains that he's a repair-bot and not programmed for combat, he's quite useful in battle.

Bumblebee is a member of Optimus Prime's repair crew, assigned to perform maintenance on malfunctioning space bridges. He proved agile enough to help his stronger (but much larger) teammate, Bulkhead, who had managed to lodge a wrecking ball in an asteroid. Even though he expressed significant fear of Megatron, he still managed to crack wise at the Decepticon leader's appearance once they were face-to-face. The humor vanished when Megs pulled out his sword. After Megatron was thrown off the ship, Bumblebee entered stasis with the rest of the crew just before the Ark crash-landed on Earth.

Upon awakening the crew to alert them to the intrusion of a nanite-powered bug-slug, the ship's computer scanned vehicle modes to disguise them. Bumblebee got reformatted into Captain Fanzone's car. Lucky him.

Upon noticing "a little creature" struggling with her "owner", 'Bee and Mr. Bulk showed their unfamiliarity with organic life by assuming the owner/pet relationship was reversed. Their speculation was interrupted by the attacks of the giant, nanite-fueled bug monster, and Bumblebee intervened to get Sari out of the way. Later in the battle, Bumblebee was called on to deliver the override command to the beast's nanites, as he was the fastest and most nimble of the crew.

His defeat of the monster seriously impressed Sari, who decided to befriend him. Sari's definition of befriending included cajoling him into sneaking her aboard the Ark. Of course, Sari wouldn't stay still as Bumblebee asked, compelling him to jettison her into a ventilation shaft. After introducing her to the group, Sari and 'Bee became fast friends. When Starscream attacked Detroit, Bumblebee took a shot intended for Sari, allowing Screamer to capture Bumblebee, Isaac Sumdac, Captain Fanzone, and the Mayor. Sari, with Prowl's help, managed to rescue them. Transform and Roll Out!

Total Meltdown

At one point, Bumblebee took part in a match against Cyrus "Colossus" Rhodes. Unfortunately, Cyrus hulked up, then proceeded to beat the slag out of Bumblebee. The other Autobots were forced to rescue him, using it as a chance to riff on his small stature. However, only Bumblebee was able to get into Sumdac Tower when Meltdown went to kill Isaac Sumdac. Bumblebee managed to get him to the ground floor, but Meltdown arrived. Bulkhead tried to stop him, but Meltdown threw a glob of acid at Bulkhead, which Bumblebee took instead (basically, 'Bee is a human shield). Bulkhead offered his apologies over his comments, saying he was only having a little fun—which sent Bumblebee into declaring his good moves and speed. He's going to be pretty impossible to live with for a while. Total Meltdown
*Bumblebee (Deluxe, 2008)

: Bumblebee will be yellow, look a bit like the little car from Lupin the Third (and a little like a smart car), and have these cute little rocket booster pods that can go on either side. It seriously looks to be the cutest Transformer ever (right up there with Moon). He cheats a bit in robot mode, with a fake car roof chest. He will not have a faceplate on the toy. Just a smirk. He will also have shock stingers.
comingsoontoy
: Bumblebee's arm-mounted shock stingers are very likely inspired by an early weapon concept from the 2007 movie Bumblebee.

To say Brawl is a warrior is like calling Cybertron a hunk of metal. Brawl does not just enjoy fighting, he is consumed by it. Tearing Autobots apart is embedded into his very core, and every fiber-optic cable of his being is obsessed with wild, unyielding combat. The only thing he enjoys, or even cares about, is the fury of battle. And he loves a good explosion. Particularly if it's one he created, and if it was an Autobot that is exploding.

Brawl arrived in Mission City shortly after Jazz took down Starscream, Blackout and a pair of Dreadwings single-handedly. The Autobot's victory was short-lived... and so was the Autobot, as Brawl punctured Jazz's chest with his claw, extinguishing his spark. Ironhide arrived just in time to witness the killing, and fought through a horde of Decepticon units to destroy Brawl.

Decepticon campaign
Brawl, Bonecrusher and Starscream were hiding out in a human military installation in the desert when they received word that Frenzy and Barricade had discovered the location of the AllSpark. When the three Decepticons mobilized, the two ground-based machines were assaulted by tanks designed to fire holding beams of electrical energy, forcing Starscream to back-and-forth babysit the two Decepticons as they tried to escape.

Brawl later stood by Megatron's side in Washington D.C. after they had retrieved the AllSpark from the destroyed Autobots and had decimated pretty much everything in their path.

:(Note: Brawl was not a playable character in the console versions of the game.)
Transformers (2007) film
Brawl (here called "Devastator") first took part in the battle for the Allspark in the final confrontation in Mission City. Although a three-on-one fight against Jazz, Ironhide and Ratchet deprived him of a missile rack and a hand, he nevertheless continued to attack the human soldiers until Bumblebee, aided by Mikaela Banes and a group of the soldiers, destroyed him.

: Deluxe-class Brawl transforms into a heavily modified fictional tank vaugley resembling an M1A1 Abrams, fitted with angular reflective armour, a mine plow and external spare fuel canisters. Mounted upon the turret is a smaller sub-turret housing two anti-aircraft cannons and rocket launchers. The spring-loaded main cannon fires a translucent red projectile.

: In robot mode, Brawl faithfully replicates his (as of writing) seldom-seen movie design, with the only major divergence being that his main gun does not split into smaller guns. He is reasonably articulated, with ball and swivel joints in his arms and legs. Thanks to Automorphing, pushing down on the front of his tank during transformation raises the front of the treads and his head up into position for his robot mode, and vice versa for the tank mode. He is armed with his spring-loaded main gun on his right arm and a flip-out blade on his left.

: There is a design flaw in the way Brawl's arms attach to his torso - the hexagonal peg and socket system used does not provide a tight enough fit, and thus the arms have a tendancy to detach at the shoulder when moved. There have also been some reports of the gears for the treds crack easily and no longer function properly.
: Brawl is a 41-point "Rare" piece in the 3D Battle-Card Game. Constructed of punch-out pieces from plastic cards, he can be assembled into his tank mode, or a sort of representation of his robot mode. Oddly enough, he does not actually have his movie-model head; rather, he uses a recolored version of Barricade's noggin slapped on the Brawl body.

: He uses the same construction as the Wreckage card.

Trivia
*During the movie, Brawl is identified in subtitles as 'Devastator', his working name, though the character is credited as Brawl in the end credits. When queried, director Michael Bay said he had always preferred Devastator and that it is not a mistake. Writer Roberto Orci felt that it was a mistake that would hopefully be fixed before the full official release of the film, this did not happen. At Botcon 2007 Hasbro representatives said they consider "Devastator" a "continuity glitch" and as far as they are concerned the character's name is Brawl.

*According to Picture Vehicle Coordinator Steve Mann, the filming prop of Brawl was a redress of a tank prop made for another movie . Specifically, it was the 'stealth tank' seen in the film XXX: State of the Union.
Bumblebee is one of Optimus Prime's most trusted lieutenants. Though not the strongest or most powerful of the Autobots, Bumblebee more than makes up for this with a bottomless well of pluck and determination. He would gladly give his life to protect others and stop the Decepticons.

Badly damaged in a conflict with Megatron, Bumblebee lost the ability to speak verbally, though he can still communicate over inter-Autobot frequencies (in a fashion that seems somewhat akin to instant messaging, a useable but more distant and less personal means of interaction).
Bumblebee commanded the Autobot forces at Tyger Pax attempting to hold the Decepticons off while the Allspark was launched off-planet. He succeeded, but Megatron crushed his voice box, and he lost his ability to speak in the process. Ratchet has been having trouble fixing it ever since. Later he was the first to track the Allspark to Earth, where he learned to express his emotions by tuning in appropriately emotive music on his car radio. Awww...

Bumblebee is Sam Witwicky's first car. After an initial misunderstanding, Bumblebee came to Sam's aid when Barricade attacked Sam. Mikaela Banes commented that his car mode was a piece of crap, prompting Bumblebee to turn into a sleeker version. Taking them to meet the rest of the Autobots, Optimus Prime explained their mission. When Sam and Mikaela were captured by Sector Seven, Bumblebee helped rescue them, eventually releasing lubricant on a particularly hostile agent. A backup team arrived, attempting to capture them. Prime took Sam and Mikaela, but they nearly fell to their deaths while hiding. Bumblebee saved them, but Sector Seven captured and the children. Unwilling to use deadly force, Prime was forced to leave Bumblebee, something Jazz and Ironhide particularly disputed.

Taken to Hoover Dam, Bumblebee was constantly doused with cryoblasts to prevent him from attacking. Sam and Mikaela (with some armed persuasion from Captain Lennox) convinced Sector Seven to release Bumblebee. Seriously pissed, Bumblebee prepared to slag anything between him and the door, but Sam informed him of the presence of the All Spark and Megatron. Switching it to a more portable version, Bumblebee and a military escort fled to Mission City, meeting the Autobots enroute. After arriving at the city, Starscream launched a sortie, and Bumblebee's legs were damaged. He gave Sam the All Spark, to keep it safe from Megatron, and Mikaela strapped him to an abandoned towtruck. Mikaela, feeling guilty for leaving Sam, drove the truck as Bumblebee provided coverfire, resulting in the destruction of Brawl.

After the destruction of Megatron and the All Spark, Bumblebee (who had regained his voice, presumably from the All Spark) requested permission to remain with Sam, to which the young man agreed. After his legs were repaired, he allowed Sam and Mikaela to make out on top of him, as the other Autobots watched.
Unusually for an all-new sculpt in the Movie toyline, he features traditional-styled fists with 5mm holes. Bumblebee is armed with two shoulder-mounted spring-loaded missile launchers, which also double as hand-held weapons or can be mounted on ports on the undersides of his elbows. His legs and chest Automorph during transformation. Press the button or you'll break him. Seriously.

: Packaging photos and early test shots of Bumblebee featured transparent blue plastic windows and missile parts. However, the final Hasbro production toy has opaque yellow plastic. The Japanese Takaratomy release of Bumblebee retains the transparent blue plastic parts.
*Bumblebee (Legends, 2007)

:Legends Bumblebee transforms into a yellow 1974 Camaro. Being a highly simplified toy of a highly complex design, Legends-class Bumblebee does not replicate the appearance of the robot mode very well, and has very limited articulation, detail and paint application.

*Bumblebee vs. Barricade: First Encounter (Multi-pack, 2007)

: This battle pack contains the 1974 Camaro deluxe-class Bumblebee and the deluxe-class Barricade figures, based upon their confrontation as seen in the movie. The box features a diorama-style background from a movie scene, but toys themselves are unchanged from their original carded releases.

*Ultimate Bumblebee (Ultimate, 2007)

:Ultimate Bumblebee transforms into the concept vehicle for the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro. He is very expensive and very vaguely animatronic.

*Bumblebee (Camaro Concept) (Deluxe, 2007)
:Japanese ID number: MA-10

:Similar in appearance to the Ultimate toy, albiet much smaller, this second Deluxe class version of Bumblebee also transforms into a concept vehicle of the 2009 Camaro. Maintaining the high standard for car accuracy in the movie line, Bumblebee is very faithful to the real-life vehicle, featuring clear blue windows in contrast to the opaque windows seen in both his previous Deluxe class toy and the Ultimate Bumblebee toy.

: This model also features a somewhat Movie-accurate cannon-weapon that is attachable to his hands and is capable of transforming into an energy-blade weapon. Another difference from the '74 Deluxe model is that the automorphing of the legs results in more Movie-accurate and less unpleasant-looking feet.

: Oddly, this one is MORE accurate than either the older-model deluxe OR the Ultimate figures, with the chest properly articulating in a fairly Movie-accurate manner. It's also slightly larger than the other Deluxe figure, which makes Jazz very sad.

: Bumblebee, like other Cyber Slammers, has motorized action. When you push down on the car, it zooms forward and slowly pops into robot mode! Sure to please the toddler you brought with you to the PG-13 movie.

:This Bumblebee is a three-inch tall painted mini-statue of his 1974 Camaro bodyform. He features die-cast in his torso and thighs, and he has swivel-joints at the shoulders, head and waist. Oh, and he comes with a Movie-style Autobot logo base to stand on.

: Beatmix Bumblebee is a device that hooks up to a music device, similarly to an iDog. Like the aforementioned product, Beatmix Bumblebee reacts to the music being played (outputed via a speaker within him). With a touch, he can also sample the owner's music tracks and replays them with sound effects from the movie. His arms are posable, but Bumblebee cannot transform.
Trivia
* According to an article on Edmunds.com, the filmmakers wanted Bumblebee's original Earth form to be the 1974 iteration of the Camaro because it was the worst Camaro possible that also had chrome bumpers.
* The same article indicates that the 1974 Camaros used in the film were all purchased via online auction for under $6000.
