{{disambig3|Grimlock}}
:''Grimlock is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Transformers Animated]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:TFAnimated Grimlock.jpg|right|256px|thumb|Some people got collar and cuffs, me Grimlock got collar and brass knuckles.]]
'''Grimlock''' is a ''Tyrannosaurus rex'' in charge of a small, three-mech group of dinosaur transformers known as the [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobots]]. Born from a fusion of Earth and Cybertronian technology, with some [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] intervention thrown in, he's a force to be reckoned with. A little short on brains (at first he didn't actually realise he was a Transformer) and a lot short on temper, Grimlock's answer to a problem is usually the simplest: squash it, slash it, bite it, burn it, or eat it.

Physically, Grimlock is one of the most powerful Transformers, with enough brute strength to give even the likes of Megatron pause for thought. In his beast mode, his powerful jaws and flame breath give him excellent short- and long-range combat abilities, while his flaming sword is an effective weapon in robot mode. Factor in his temper, and facing Grimlock can be a terrifying experience.

Currently, Grimlock and his fellow Dinobots are living on [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|an island]] in Lake Erie, hidden there by [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] from the rest of the world. But don't think he's not willing to come to the mainland, find the biggest 'Con around and feed 'em their own chassis after he's eaten his fill of it. After all, him Grimlock badass.

[[Image:Grimlockanimatedinskin.jpg|left|150px|thumb|Cars shot me T-rex, out come me Grimlock! Him [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] sure blew it.]]
Grimlock, [[Snarl (Animated)|Snarl]], and [[Swoop (Animated)|Swoop]] were originally theme park animatronic displays that [[Isaac Sumdac]] upgraded with the help of [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] and a flash of [[spark]] from the [[AllSpark Key]]. When they came online, Grimlock dubbed himself the Dinobot leader, despite Megatron's commands. However, [[Tutor Bot]] brought up videos on how cars use fossil fuels. Grimlock believed this to mean that cars ate [[dinosaur]]s, and Megatron convinced them to destroy the "fossil feeders", including the only thing worse than cars...cars and trucks that turn into robots.

[[Image:Grimlockanimatedbeastmode.jpg|right|150px|thumb|Me Grimlock beginning to [[Repeat Performance!|hate black sticky stuff!]]]]
As the Dinobots raged against the machines, the Autobots drew them away from the city towards a park. Finally getting out of his funk, [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] managed to throw them into a parking lot that their fire breath had melted into tar, trapping the Dinobots. After their defeat, they were imprisoned in an energy cage and were scheduled for meltdown. Believing they had life and were not just some mindless machines, [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] freed the Dinobots with the help of Bulkhead and secretly relocated them to an island.

Dwelling within the peaceful forest, Grimlock dubbed cars and trucks bad, but nature good—until two birds pooped on him. Redubbing
nature stupid, Grimlock expected the two birds to fight like Dinobots, but they escaped! Tail twitching and stomach opening, Grimlock [[Transformation|transformed]], shocking Snarl and Swoop. He drew a [[Sword|huge, blazing sword]] and decided he liked the results. {{storylink|Blast from the Past}}

He was later forced by the villain [[Prometheus Black|Meltdown]] to attack Sari's would-be rescuers, Prowl and Bulkhead. Once Meltdown
was trapped and unable to hurt him, he demonstrated he'd learned to transform and joined his fellow Dinobots in threatening the
acid-thrower. However, before Meltdown could be hurt, Grimlock's attention was diverted to [[Colossus Rhodes]] and two of Meltdown's mutants, and he and the other Dinobots beat up on them instead. {{storylink|Survival of the Fittest}}

Shortly after this, the Autobots learned that the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]] were mobilizing, and Bulkhead spilled the beans on the Dinobots' location. Seriously pissed, [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Prime]] had them take him to [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]], where he tried to convince the Dinobots to help them fight the Decepticons. Grimlock was...uninterested, to say the least. He told Prime that Dinobots didn't need robots to fight, but that they would destroy robots. When Prime pointed out that the Dinobots ''were'' robots, this seemed to compel them to fight each other. When Grimlock gives an order, the Dinobots carry it out without question. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 1}}

[[Image:Animated cartoon Grimlock Sentinel Prime.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Me Grimlock say you jerk!]]
When Optimus brought [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] and [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel]] to see [[Teletran-1|his damaged ship]], which had crashed into Dinobot Island as a result of [[Megatron Rising - Part 2|a recent Decepticon attack]], the Dinobots showed up. Optimus advised the [[Cybertron Elite Guard|Elite Guardsbots]] that as long as the Dinobots weren't provoked, they wouldn't attack. Sentinel thought they were just primitive scrap heaps and acted like it. Grimlock responded by transforming, taking out his sword and knocking the jerk flying. Alas, neither he nor the other Dinobots could withstand the elemental lightning summoned by Ultra Magnus, Bot of Thunder. {{storylink|The Elite Guard}}

[[Image:T-Rex Ambush Predator.JPG|right|200px|thumb|Prowl learned T-rex defensive tactics from ''[[Jurassic Park]]''. Sadly, Grimlock never watched that movie.]]
Later, reports reached the Autobots of rampages on Dinobot Island, and Optimus sent Prowl and Bulkhead, the only two Autobots the Dinobots accepted, to investigate. Prowl's disbelief at the idea that the territorial but relatively peaceful Dinobots would be going on rampages was quickly dispelled when a furious Grimlock burst from the bushes and charged. He easily thrashed the two Autobots, and in his rage would have roasted a nest full of baby birds if Prowl hadn't used [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]]'s loaned [[EMP]] generator to drop the massive beast. But a blast that would have knocked out an Autobot for a while merely dropped Grimlock for a moment, and a few seconds later, he began to wake up. Upon examination, it was revealed that Grimlock had a large piece of metal embedded in his foot, and the pain had driven him mad. Prowl used the EMP generator to loosen the shard while Bulkhead yanked it out, and an exhausted Grimlock collapsed and allowed the Autobots to fix him up. {{storylink|A Fistful of Energon}}

[[Image:TFA Black Friday ME GRIMLOCK IN LOVE.jpg|left|180px|thumb|I, Grimlock, am hot-headed when in love, wot.]]
When [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]] washed ashore after the defeat of Megatron, the Dinobots took her in as one of their own. Ever the [[wikipedia:Alpha_(biology)|alpha male]], Grimlock was quick to remind Swoop and Snarl that "Spider-Lady like me Grimlock best" (he was taller than them), and was not above using violence to drive the point home. After Blackarachnia discovered Meltdown's genetic research, she had the Dinobots take Meltdown from prison. When the Autobots arrived to investigate, Prowl and [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] were poisoned with venom, and Grimlock accompanied Optimus Prime to the mainland to help him find the [[Genetic modifier|genetic thingy]] that Meltdown needed.

[[Image:Animated Black Friday Grimlock Prime Powell.jpg|right|180px|thumb|Me Grimlock will love you and hug you and feed you and pet you and hug you and love you and call you George.]] Grimlock refused to listen to Prime's claims that Blackarachnia was using them, and he tore through the city to show the "puny humans" that "Dinobots rule". Arriving at [[Sumdac Tower]], Grimlock threatened [[Porter C. Powell]] with becoming lunch, which convinced the businessman to surrender the modifier. When the two Autobots returned to the island, Meltdown turned the tables on them, planning to remove Blackarachnia's technological half and leave him with an organic Transformer. To delay Grimlock and Prime, Meltdown sicced [[Fusion creature|his experiments]] on them. Grimlock nearly burned down half the forest while fighting "bad bat", but the other Dinobots arrived and helped them defeat the monsters while Prime put out the fire. After Prime defeated Meltdown, Blackarachnia urged him to hold her, causing Grimlock to attack Prime in jealousy. However, it was a trick to allow Blackarachnia time to escape, as Prime had predicted. Practically in tears, Grimlock begged Blackarachnia to return, saying he loved her, but all for naught. {{storylink|Black Friday (episode)|Black Friday}}

He later looked on as an oil rig with the Constructicons appeared out of nowhere and exploded off Dinobot Island. {{storylink|Three's a Crowd}}

Grimlock and the Dinobots once again fall under Blackarachnia's sway. After having Swoop abduct [[Wasp]] she orders the Dinobots to stand guard. Sentinel Prime, along with [[Jetstorm (Animated)|Jetstorm]] and [[Jetfire (Animated)|Jetfire]], sneak onto Dinobot Island to retrieve Wasp. Sentinel tells the Jet twins to create a diversion to get the Dinobots away from the enterance so he can sneak into Blackarachnia's lab. Grimlock is tricked into chasing Jetstorm and was [[to sell toys|defeated off camera]]. {{storylink|Predacons Rising}}

Later when Sari went to get the help of the Dinobots to fight [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]], Grimlock and Swoop refused to help her. When she asked about Snarl, Grimlock tells her they kicked him out after he decided to become [[Scrapper (Animated)|Scrapper]]'s pet. {{storylink|Human Error, Part II}}
[[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] attempted to greet the Dinobots and thank them for their aid, but Grimlock responded simply by attacking Prime and demanding he leave as well. A mechanized switch in the right robot-mode wrist interacts with a spring-loaded feature in his fiery sword, revealing pop-out flames when the wrist is tilted. Purely by coincidence, a peg on his left leg is the exact right size to serve as a [[Powerlinx]] port for any [[Mini-Con]].

: Some Grimlocks have been reported with legs that are impossible to shorten into arms for robot mode. Others contract, but the two halves of the thighs/shoulders start to separate when they do. Others still have no problem. It looks like a quality control issue rather than a running change to fix the problem, as the most recently bought Grimlocks still suffer with this issue.
* Grimlock took his name by forming a portmanteau out of a sentence spoken by Megatron: "My prospects are '''grim''', '''lock'''ed in this prison of a lab." Who knew he had it in him? For the entirety of seasons 1 and 2, he was the only Dinobot in the cartoon to have a name. This changed when Snarl finally received his name from Scrapper in mid-season 3. (Swoop wasn't named in the show at all.)
* He's still the only ''Animated'' Dinobot actually to speak. He may not talk pretty, but maybe he deserves some credit for making it THAT far.
* His Italian voice actor is the same as [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]].
* And so's his Japanese! He even shares the same speech pattern of saying "dā" at the end of his sentences a lot.
'''Ambushed and alone, Inferno is taken to his limits and beyond by Megatron.'''

==Synopsis==
On [[Iron Planet]], [[Shockblast]], chained up and guarded by the stoic and silent [[Inferno (Energon)|Inferno]], is bored. He entertains himself by verbally harassing his guard. His taunts fall on deaf ears; finally Inferno stands, walks off, and nails a distant peak with one shot from his weapon, to Shockblast's puzzlement.

[[Image:E29 mirangaiilands.jpg|left|180px|thumb|Like some [[Furmanism|vast, predatory bird]] casting its shadow over the land...]]

[[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]] delights over one of his new planets, and laments [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]]'s fall. On the temperate surface of the planet, [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]], [[Kicker Jones|Kicker]], and [[Misha Miramond|Misha]] land the ''[[Miranda II]]'' in a lake. The planet's atmosphere is identical to [[Earth]], to Misha's relief. She wonders if it's inhabited.

Inferno calls in a report to [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]'s team on the ''Miranda II'', though he has little to tell them; he expects [[Rodimus (Energon)|Rodimus]] to be along soon. Suddenly, [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] radios Shockblast, taunting him for his betrayal.

Megatron expects Shockblast will come crawling back soon enough... and indeed, he radios a moment later, begging to be freed and promising loyalty. Megatron agrees. Inferno doesn't seem to notice.

Rodimus observes space debris from [[Unicron]] flying into the [[Rift (Energon)|void]]. Elsewhere, on a planet, the two-member search team of [[Autobot]]s drive around and conclude that it's deserted. [[Downshift (Energon)|Downshift]] isn't happy about searching planet after planet, but [[Cliffjumper (Energon)|Cliffjumper]] reminds him that that's what their orders are. Suddenly, they see a flash of light. Somewhere in space, Rodimus speaks to all Autobot warriors, telling them to use his flag as a beacon-guide if they've lost their way.

On Iron Planet, Inferno comes under heavy attack from Megatron's squad.

Misha observes a giant dragon fly, which freaks out Kicker. Kicker explains to Ironhide that the planet's so nutrient-rich that it's driving the eco-system to extremes. [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] reports that Inferno is under attack, and the Autobots prepare to move out. Ironhide is depressed, wondering if Scorponok will be there.

Inferno has retreated into a crevasse, defending himself from there. Megatron approaches the chained Shockblast; [[Tidal Wave (Armada)|Mirage]] advises not releasing him, advice that Megatron agrees with. He threatens to "rewire" Shockblast. Desperate, Shockblast pleads for release, saying he'll capture an Autobot as proof of his loyalty. Inferno is still in the crevasse, waiting.

In space, [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]], [[Prowl (Energon)|Prowl]], and [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] fight their way through the debris-filled void. Through the void, they see Rodimus's glowing Autobot [[insignia]]-beacon, a sign of hope.

Shockblast is free; Mirage thinks it's a mistake. Inferno comes under attack from the sky, as Shockblast dives on him, firing. Starscream joins him.

Shockblast tries to flush out Inferno, but the Autobot just waits patiently, gun aimed. But Starscream gets behind him before he can fire.

Scorponok flies through the void with a horde of [[Insecticon (Energon)|Insecticons]], as Rodimus observes.

[[Image:Energon InfernoImprisoned torture.jpg|right|150px|thumb|Such excellent animation... something's wrong.]]

The Autobots arrive and locate Inferno. Below, Megatron chews out Shockblast and sends him to join the others above in battling the Autobots, before interrogating his captive. Above, the [[Decepticon]]s hold the Autobots at a standstill.

Megatron tortures Inferno, demanding to know where the [[energon (fuel)|energon]] is. When Inferno refuses, he stabs him with his sword and threatens to turn him into a Decepticon.

Scorponok and his [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]]s arrive; Ironhide holds him off while Prime goes after Inferno, only to run into Mirage. Megatron forces an energy ball into Inferno's wound, saying that soon he'll be a Decepticon.

Ironhide confronts Scorponok over his changed allegiance. Scorponok simply states that his only master is Megatron.

Under torture, Inferno flashes back to the beauty of Earth, and refuses to yield. Hot Shot and Rodimus arrive and finally make it into the crevasse. Surrounded, Megatron retreats. Inferno lies damaged and inert. The Decepticons transform and fly/drive off into the sky. Ironhide is still angry over Scorponok's betrayal.

The Autobots fly Inferno away. Weak, Inferno asks about Kicker's status... and, unseen by all, his Autobot symbol morphs into a Decepticon one.
==Notes==
===Lost in translation===
The only changes in the dub are a few trivial items—which is quite surprising considering that there's a ''typo in the title''. [[Scorpinok|Again.]]

* Kicker kicks Ironhide after they land the ''Miranda II'' on the first planet. In ''Super Link'', it's because Ironhide had said the air was great and refreshing, and Kicker says he couldn't possibly know that. The dub changes it to Kicker staking his claim that ''he'' was the one to tell Misha that the air was safe.
* Kicker's original claim about the ecosystem is more about the planet's instinct to support life, rather than its nutrient-rich ecosystem.
* Megatron originally threatens to ''reformat'' Shockblast (rather than "rewire" him), a bit more serious-sounding considering what's happened to Demolishor, Starscream and Scorponok.
* In the dub, Inferno asks for an update on Kicker as he's carried away from Iron Planet. In ''Super Link'', he asks if they're going to where Kicker is, so he can heal on a peaceful planet.
* Absurdly triumphant background music plays over this same scene in the dub; ''Super Link'' has silence instead, more befitting the somber mood as the gravely damaged Inferno is carried off.

===Pain count===
===Animation and technical errors===
[[Image:Improsonedinferno.jpg|thumb|For God's ''sake''.]]
* This episode was originally titled "Improsoned Inferno". The episode's title was corrected for the ''Transformers: Energon - Ultimate Collection'' DVD release.
* The neck segment of Misha's space suit is missing in one shot.
* Cliffjumper and Downshift have their names reversed. It won't be the last time. (They're not named in ''Super Link''.)
* Rodimus's magic beacon-projecting flag ''flaps in the vacuum of space''.
* [[Rift (Energon)|The rift]]—referred to here as "the [[void]]"—is so badly animated and edited that it's impossible to tell what or where it is. No establishing shots make clear where it sits in relationship to anything else in the show, and it's shown differently than in previous episodes. A casual viewer would have ''no clue'' where Hot Shot's team is or what they're doing.
* Likewise, the idea is that Rodimus shines his beacon at the rift's exit, giving both Hot Shot's team (who are lost in the rift) and the search party (who are on the other side of the rift, still in normal space) a sign post to follow. The animation makes this a bit difficult to figure out, the editing makes it worse, and the dialog in both versions doesn't help much.

===Continuity errors===
* So... Rodimus and Optimus entered the rift ''after'' Hot Shot, Prowl and Landmine were sucked in, as happened in "[[Ripped Up Space]]". They made it all the way through, had a whole series of adventures and battles on Iron Planet, and meanwhile... Hot Shot's team ''still'' hasn't gotten through the rift? What've they been ''doing'' in there?

===Trivia===
* During the torture scene, Megatron and Inferno are both animated in traditional cel format, allowing them to emote beyond the level of "[[Dull surprise|mouth open/mouth closed]]". It is ''glorious!''
* Unicron is apparently missing in action—there's no trace of him—but the dialog only vaguely hints at this mystery, when Rodimus says something vague about debris from Unicron.

'''The Autobots take on Unicron, luring him into a running battle within the space bridge.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Kicker Jones|Kicker]] recaps the ''[[Miranda II]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s mission, [[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]]'s plans, and [[Rodimus (Energon)|Rodimus]]'s reappearance.

The ''Miranda II'' approaches [[Unicron]], and her crew prepares for battle. The plan is to fry Unicron from the inside with the [[energon grid]].

[[Image:Energon-MirandaII-Attacks-Unicron.jpg|230px|left|thumb|Attack pattern alpha, go now!]]

The [[Decepticon]]s note the ship's approach; [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] has Unicron open fire. The [[Autobot]]s fire back. It doesn't seem to do any damage, but they continue forward and infiltrate Unicron. As they fly amid Unicron's inner workings, Megatron has Unicron stir, and huge panels threaten to crush the ship. [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] orders a withdrawal. The panels close in, damaging the energon grid antennae. The ship barely escapes; Unicron growls and glows with energy.

[[Misha Miramond|Misha]] can't raise the energon grid; the [[Omnicon]]s report the antenna damage. Optimus Prime decides to lure Unicron into the space bridge. As the bridge activates and the ''Miranda II'' heads toward it with Unicron in pursuit, the Decepticons decide to attack. Prime and some others counter-attack. The ship enters the space bridge; Unicron follows, straining the gateway... but both make it through intact.

Aboard Unicron's head, Rodimus's contingent watch the battle. They're amazed to see Unicron's body just disappear. Alpha Q wonders if there's no way to stop Optimus from destroying Unicron. Rodimus says it's out of his hands. [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]] stirs, calling out Kicker's name.

[[Image:Energon-Demolishor-VS-Inferno.jpg|230px|thumb|right|[[Transformation]]? In ''my'' Transformers?]]

In the space bridge, Kicker responds to Ironhide's call, and tells the Omnicons to drop him off at "the sky bridge", where he and Ironhide got separated. In the midst of the battle, Prime tells him that though Ironhide's decision was a bad one, they can't help him now. Kicker says that he won't let his partner down, despite Misha's pleas.

Prime relents, despite [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]]'s protests. With Prime's blessing, Kicker rockets off the ship's hull toward a warp gate that suddenly appears in the [[space bridge]] warp field. [[Grindor (Armada)|Grindor]] comes with him.

Rodimus and the others note that Ironhide is awake; Alpha Q orders Scorponok to tend to him.

[[Image:Energon-Unicrons-Arms.jpg|230px|thumb|left|BRAINS!]]

Kicker begins searching for Ironhide.... and is joined by Misha. She defends her actions, saying that Ironhide is her friend too.

The Decepticons suddenly remember that they can [[transformation|transform]], and do, lending the unstoppable power of a flying space dump truck to their side. Optimus orders the Omnicons to send the ''Miranda II'' toward Unicron at full speed. As the battle continues, Unicron overtakes the ship, actually bumping into it. The ship approaches the exit gate. Prime orders everyone to re-board the ship, and contacts [[Rad White|Rad]], who says he's ready. Unicron, and all the combatants, arrive at Cybertron.

Rad activates Cybertron's energon grid. The [[energon tower]]s open fire on Unicron. Megatron partially transforms Unicron to crush Prime, but an energon blast destroys his arms. The assault continues, inflicting further damage on Unicron. Megatron finally relents, and retreats.

Kicker has a sudden premonition, and warns Misha to take cover. Rodimus's ship emerges from a warp gate. Rodimus asks them to come with him; Kicker hesitantly agrees.
==Notes==
===Pain count===
* "You can't be serious": 1

===Lost in translation===
* Continuing the dub's ceaseless efforts to paint Alpha Q as a villain, Kicker's recap focuses on Alpha Q's effort at reviving Unicron, rather than Megatron as in ''Super Link''. The dub narration is also heavily padded out with a ''ton'' of extra verbage.
* ''Super Link'' opens with Prime noting that, if Unicron activates, they must immediately lure him into the space bridge. The dub doesn't bring up this plan until the middle of the battle, after Unicron is already active, and replaces it with some random "be ready to act on the double" chatter. Prime finally mentions the space bridge plan as if it were just a random thought: "What if we could lure it into the space bridge?"
* The dub further makes it sound like the plan is to fly inside Unicron and destroy him from within with ''Miranda II''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s energon grid. This is actually what seems to happen in the animation... yet in ''Superlink'', the dialog seems to be referring to ''Cybertron''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s energon grid.
* Unicron makes some ridiculous growling noises as Megatron activates him. They're a dub addition.
* During the scene of the Decepticons watching the Autobots enter the space bridge, the dub omits a couple of key points. First, Starscream has a short line reacting to Tidal Wave's question, explaining why Snow Cat hits him and speaks to him. Second, the impetus for the attack is that they know the ''Miranda II'''s energon grid is down. Third, the point of the attack is stop the Autobots from escaping. Fourth, Megatron's threat to devour Earth is omitted.
* As the ''Miranda II'' approaches the space bridge, several different dub lines make it seem like Prime's troops are off flying around in space, away from the ship. All are contradicted by the animation, which clearly shows Prime's group standing on the ''Miranda II'''s hull:
** "Stay close to the ship!" (originally a command to keep the Decepticons ''away'' from the ship)
** "Why are they taking their time getting to the space bridge?" (originally a complaint that the space bridge wasn't ready yet)
** "Hurry men! To the space bridge!" (originally an order for the ''ship'' to enter the space bridge.)

* The dub is missing some animation effects after Unicron enters the space bridge. ''Super Link'' features green glowing space behind the flying Decepticons, rather than normal space. In the dub, Alpha Q's holo-viewer-globe-thing is left out of one the subsequent shots, with a black void in its place.
* Kicker's statement about "the sky bridge" is dub nonsense. In ''Super Link'', he requests the Omnicons to set up a "link-up gate" for him.
* Prime and Kicker's argument is a bit more coherent and forceful in ''Super Link'', with Prime clearly ordering Kicker to forget Ironhide (since he left without orders), and Kicker clearly ignoring Prime's order. Jetfire's subsequent statement that they'll have to use force to stop Kicker is a dub insertion.
* Dub Scorponok says that Alpha Q has wanted to meet Ironhide for a while now. It should be the other way around, of course—Ironhide wanted to meet Alpha Q.
* Strongarm's statement that "we're still pointing directly at Unicron", when Prime orders engines to full throttle, is dub nonsense. Both the plot and the animation show that they're ''fleeing'' from Unicron.
* Misha's responses to Kicker, when they meet up in space, are all dub alterations. In ''Super Link'', she says she was worried she'd never see him again.
* ''Super Link'' uses a different still shot of Unicron after he emerges from the space bridge.
* Prime's ''Megatron... when will you learn'' is a dub addition, which rather disrupts the flow of Prime's obvious doubts about destroying Unicron.
* Jetfire reports "warp field dead ahead" as Unicron escapes, as if they've been looking for it and are flying toward it. He's ''supposed'' to be just reporting that a warp was detected, explaining how Unicron escaped.

===Animation and technical errors===
* In an early shot of Hot Shot and Inferno working the controls, they are simply bashing at the buttons with closed fists.
* When Prime tells Hot Shot and Jetfire to stand by to attack, it's ''Inferno'' and Hotshot that reply. Prime presumably meant Inferno, as he and Hot Shot were the ones at the helm.

===Continuity errors===
* Grindor pretty much comes out of nowhere. He hasn't been seen at all since the ''Miranda II'' left Earth.

===Trivia===
*During Kicker's narration in the beginning the flashback to [[Armada (cartoon)|Armada]], Unicron is shown again.
*Craploads of firepower are exchanged in this episode, and ''not a single combatant is injured''.
*Demolishor literally ''bounds'' out of Megatron's chamber to go attack the Autobots. However horrible his character arc may be, he's amusingly crazed.
*Misha's space helmet has a gap in the back to let her hair flow out. Don't ask how that works.

'''Ironhide follows Rodimus, determined to find out more about the mysterious Alpha Q.'''

==Synopsis==
Aboard the ''[[Miranda II]]'', the [[Autobot]]s have tracked the tracer signal to a [[Decepticon]] warp point.

[[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]] freaks out in light of the recent [[energon (Energon)|energon]] theft. [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]] offers to get more, using his position in [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]]'s ranks... and [[Rodimus (Energon)|Rodimus]].

[[Kicker Jones|Kicker]] is worried about a Decepticon attack, and "that [[Unicron]] thing". Suddenly, they see an approaching ship, flying a flag (literally) with the AutoBrand—Rodimus's ship!

Rodimus opens a channel, asking permission to come aboard. [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]], naturally, [[Rodimus Friend or Foe?|isn't too happy about this]], but can't offer any proof to the others that anything's amiss.

[[Image:Energon-Optimus-And-Rodimus.jpg|left|230px|thumb|A dream is born, double prime!]]

Rodimus lays it out: he wants [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] not to destroy Unicron, and focus on defeating Megatron instead. He tells Optimus that Unicron can create new life, such as the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]]s created by Alpha Q, and that it's only dangerous in the wrong hands. Prime isn't buying it, but Rodimus tells him that Unicron consumed [[Planet Q|Alpha Q's planet]].

Kicker asks [[Inferno (Energon)|Inferno]] how Rodimus and Optimus know each other. Inferno tells him a story that doesn't answer the question.

Rodimus says that the consumed planets can be re-created. Prime still thinks it's too dangerous. Rodimus leaves... and as he does, [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]] overhears him and [[Prowl (Energon)|Prowl]] discussing what they're going to tell Alpha Q.

Kicker finds Ironhide watching Rodimus's ship depart, and deduces that he plans to track him back to Alpha Q's location. The ''Miranda II'' powers up. Ironhide doubts if he should go by himself, since he's spent his whole life following others, but a pep talk from Kicker gets him going; Kicker lends him the [[Energon Saber]]. Optimus solemnly watches Rodimus's ship depart.

[[Image:Energon-Ironhide-Teary-Hand-Drawn.jpg|230px|thumb|What is this, 1994?]]

Rodimus is well aware of his stowaway, but decides to let him be for now.

The Autobots get their first look at Unicron. Hot Shot notices Ironhide's absence and figures out that he's gone to do something foolhardy. Kicker confirms it, and notes that Hot Shot must surely understand, given his past. Hot Shot does understand... and immediately reports it to Optimus. Prime isn't worried.

Rodimus's ship approaches Unicron's head and enters, as Ironhide grows more and more worried.

Within Unicron, Megatron is delighted to hear a report from [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] that a ship has been sighted, and orders Starscream to do nothing. When the titan is activated, Optimus will be its first victim!

The Decepticons immediately attack the ''Miranda II''. As Prime goes to counter-attack, Kicker tells [[Misha Miramond|Misha]] to release all the energon, to help Ironhide. Or a small chunk.

Within Unicron, Ironhide comes to his senses and begins tracking Rodimus. Alpha Q observes him and frets, but Rodimus tells him not to worry. Alpha Q sends Scorponok to bring in the stowaway. Ironhide follows an opening door, and finds himself in a warehouse full of Terrorcon eggs. They hatch, of course, unleashing a swarm of [[Cruellock]] drones on him.

[[Image:Energon-Ironhide-Infiltration.jpg‎|left|230px|thumb|Alpha Q tries to imitate Saruman.]]

Misha sends out a chunk of energon, which Kicker tosses into space. As the Terrorcons swarm toward it, Inferno blows it up, annihilating them.

The drones steal Ironhide's [[energon star]], but he fights his way free... and finds himself facing Scorponok. He demands to know where Alpha Q is, and peppers Scorponok with questions. They struggle. Ironhide punches him, and somehow knocks himself out. Scorponok agrees to take him there. He brings the unconscious Autobot into Alpha Q's chamber, to Rodimus's horror.

The Autobots have driven off their attackers, and vow to be ready next time. Megatron gloats that they don't have a clue what they're in store for.
===Lost in translation===
Nothing major or devastating, but this episode is rife with examples of the dub team just not paying attention:

* It starts almost immediately, as Optimus advises that they've tracked the Decepticons' "warp signal", and warns the others that the Decepticons have probably set up a defensive line to defend Unicron and a battle will happen as soon as they emerge from warp. The dub mangles this into the Autobots ''detecting'' a Decepticon warp point, in clear contradiction to the animation, which shows that they're ''already in warp space''. The dub also omits the important point that they're heading for Unicron, instead having Prime just say "we don't want to walk into a trap".
* In ''Super Link'', Scorponok doesn't propose to use Rodimus for the mundane task of retrieving more energon, but for ''re-taking Unicron's body'', since it's apparently going to be finished soon.
* Kicker's question is originally about the ''relationship'' between Optimus and Rodimus. The dub transmangulates this into "how do they know each other"; this turns Inferno's answer, correctly translated, into a non sequitur.
* In ''Super Link'', Inferno further elaborates that the two leaders don't see eye-to-eye, and that their ways of living are not compatible; Misha describes them as two heroes who walk different paths. The dub dumbs this down to Misha saying "they really are heroes, aren't they", somewhat at odds with the dramatic background music.
* The dub replaces Megatron's implied intention to attack ("we should go ahead and start the fun") with him telling Starscream not to attack. This makes it very odd when the very next scene is... the Decepticons attacking the Autobots.
* The purpose of Scorponok and the Terrorcons attacking Ironhide is to test his strength (thus showing if he can be of some use to Alpha Q), not to "see if he can be trusted" per the dub.
* Megatron's final lines are a dub addition; ''Super Link'' just has him laughing ominously.

===Animation and technical errors===
[[Image:E18_titlecard.jpg|thumb|]]
* The dub budget was so cheap, they couldn't afford an "e" for the title card. [[Scorpinok|(Not]] [[Imprisoned Inferno|again.)]] This was not fixed for the DVD release. However, the DVD menus and case have the correct spelling.
* Kicker says "It's hard to tell what his intentions are!" without moving his mouth. (Despite appearances, the dialog is not a dub addition; the error repeats in ''Super Link''.)
* Prowl is ''tiny'' compared to Rodimus, as they prepare to leave the ''Miranda II''. They should be nearly the same height.
* Some odd editing, as Prime reacts to something off-screen, then immediately goes into his combination sequence, without the viewer ever learning what he was reacting to.
* The flag on Rodimus's ship waves in the wind... in space.

===Continuity errors===
* Hot Shot says that he doesn't "know how, but I think Rodimus is somehow involved with Unicron"; that he doesn't have proof, just a feeling. He apparently was not paying attention when Rodimus [[Rodimus Friend or Foe?|previously laid out directly, specifically and in great detail his involvement with Alpha Q and Unicron]]. Perhaps it's that blaster shot he took at close range just moments later.
* Kicker urges Ironhide to hurry and transform as Rodimus leaves. But they're in space. Ironhide remains in robot mode the rest of the episode.
* A second later, Kicker produces the Energon Saber out of nowhere.
* It's not a terrible leap of logic to figure out that Ironhide's gone to follow Rodimus, but how does Hot Shot figure out that he's heading for ''Unicron''? The mention of Unicron is another dub artifact.

===References===
* In an obvious ''Star Wars'' homage, Jetfire looks at Unicron and comments "Look at the size of that thing!" It'd be a bit less nonsequitur if it was his first reaction, but by that time he's already made several other comments.
* Kicker references the time that Hot Shot single-handedly "stormed that Decepticon base", which could be a nod to the events of the ''Armada'' episode "[[Credulous]]" or "[[Dash (episode)|Dash]]".

===Trivia===
*Ironhide complains that he's been walking for what seems like hours. Guess he forgot that he turns into an automobile.
*The final battle is... not really there. The Decepticons swoop in once, then are never seen again. Optimus combines and takes off, then is not seen again till the battle is over. Inferno blows up some Terrorcons, who weren't shown until it was time for them to die. All the while, Kicker floats around outside the ship, not doing much of anything.
*There's another hand-drawn moment in this episode, which illustrates just how lackluster ''Energon's'' CGI really is. When Kicker encourages him to go after Rodimus, Ironhide displays the robotic equivalent of getting teary-eyed. This sort of minor shaking was done pretty much constantly back in ''Beast Wars'', but over ten years later it's apparently too difficult to animate.

'''Megatron creates three giant comets and launches them at the Earth, intending to devastate the planet.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Unicron]]'s body shakes and rattles, as [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] struggles to create several cucumber-shaped "comets" to destroy [[Earth]] and the [[Autobot]]s, inspired by [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]]'s attempt to crush the Autobots with the mobile fortress on the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]. Scorponok is angry that he's not leading the mission, as [[Tidal Wave (Armada)|Tidal Wave]] and the others push the comets toward [[Earth]]. [[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]] observes and speculates that this will destroy the whole planet... making it easy for him to collect the [[Energon (Energon)|energon]].

[[Carlos Lopez|Carlos]] detects the three comets approaching. Scorponok wonders why they aren't using the warp gate; Tidal Wave replies that the purpose of the attack is to strike fear into the [[human]]s.

[[Image:Energon-Cel-Megatron-Straining.jpg|200px|thumb|left|Megatron strains so hard the CGI renderer can't keep up.]]

The Autobots work to get the [[energon grid]] fully operational before the comets arrive in six hours. [[Lunar City]] is protected, and the troops move on to [[Ocean City]]. Soon only [[Desert City]] remains, but the tower output there isn't at full strength yet. [[Kicker Jones|Kicker]], [[Misha Miramond|Misha]] and [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]] wait for the fireworks.

Megatron decides that once all the humans are dead, he wants their [[spark]]s brought to him, so he can create a new batch of soldiers. [[Demolishor (Armada)|Demolishor]] tells him that won't work.

[[Brian Jones (Energon)|Dr. Jones]] still can't locate the problem, so Kicker and Misha head to [[Desert City]] aboard [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], with Ironhide following. Jetfire lifts Kicker and Ironhide up to the suborbital portion of the tower.

As the reformatted [[Cyclonus (Armada)|Cyclonus]] remains bound to the wall, Megatron laughs in anticipation of Earth's destruction and the Autobots' fear. Demolishor reflects that he's becoming mad with his own power, but when Megatron asks, he simply offers up that [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]'s destruction will be a good thing.

[[Image:Energon-Optimus-And-Dr-Jones.jpg‎|200px|thumb|right|C'mon, gizza lookee!]]

Prime and [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] meet up with Jetfire in space. If the grids fail, Lunar City will be the front line, and the Autobots will have to stop the comets themselves. Alpha Q watches and speculates that they can't possibly do it, and that the energon will be his soon.

Ironhide lowers Kicker deep into the darkness of the tower, noting as he does that if they don't fix the problem, it's all over. Ironhide wonders why humans bother struggling to survive when they have such short lives; Kicker replies that it's just part of being alive, and that every human wants to live as long as possible. Ironhide doesn't quite get it.

Suddenly, Kicker sees something in the darkness. Ironhide's lights reveal a pair of blue-colored [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]]s, who attack. Ironhide shoots down their [[energon weapon]]s. Alpha Q tells "[[Blackout (Terrorcon)|Blackout]]" that he must not shoot at the human and the Autobot...a voice that Kicker hears. Alpha Q reviews Ironhide and Kicker's conversation.

[[Image:Energon-Rodimus-Into-Torpedo.jpg‎|200px|thumb|left|Geronimo!]]

Kicker reports in to Misha, who sends a [[Skyblast (Energon)|Skyblast]] to check out the problem. Ironhide and Kicker suddenly see several inert [[Omnicon]]s below the two Terrorcons. They deduce that there was a battle; Misha says they can't get there in time, and Kicker will have to handle it.

The comets have passed [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], so Prime's team prepares to engage them.

Kicker takes Ironhide's [[energon star]], reasoning that it will lure the Terrorcons out. When they fail to follow, he realizes that they're damaged and can't fly, so he leaps down to them. They open fire, hitting Ironhide.

The comets are nearly to Earth. Megatron and Demolishor arrive to watch the show, the latter not so happy about it. At Lunar City, [[Inferno (Energon)|Inferno]] orders the city's defenses to attack the passing comet; Prime's team also attacks, though it seems to be doing little good.

[[Image:Energon-Kicker-Feed-Terrorcons.jpg|200px|thumb|right|Eat up, my pretties...]]

Kicker offers the energon star to the Terrorcons, saying that they just need a little help. Alpha Q is intrigued.

Suddenly, Hot Shot and Prime see a fleet of blue-hued Terrorcons approaching... led by [[Rodimus (Energon)|Rodimus]]! The creatures smash into the comet, breaching its hull; Rodimus enters and destroys it from within. Megatron responds by deciding to smash the other two into Earth.

The Terrorcons eat the energon and self-heal; Kicker calls in to Misha. Outside, the other two are approaching. Prime's team magically glows with the power of energon, and tries to push them away. Megatron observes with delight, as tidal waves begin to rise on Earth. Dr. Jones orders Prime's team to clear out, as the grid activates just in time, destroying the comets. The [[Decepticon]]s retreat under fire from Ocean City, and the Autobots enjoy the fireworks.

Kicker senses a ship of unknown origin, landing near the city. He realizes it's come to pick up the two stray Terrorcons. It lifts off into the sky and through the grid. Ironhide realizes it's a [[Transformer|Cybertronian]] ship and wonders who's piloting it; Kicker votes to just let them go, certain that it's a friend, possibly Rodimus. Ironhide reveals that he put a homing device on one of the Terrorcons, which he regards as a great joke on Kicker, prompting Kicker to kick him.

Alpha Q wonders why he helped the Autobots, and how Rodimus controls the Terrorcons; he decides that Kicker is the key to the energon.
"Once we've destroyed the Earth, collect the energon and bring me all of the ''humans''' sparks as well. I think I'm going to use them to create a new batch of soldiers for my army."<br>
"But, sir. You can't do that."<br>
"Why not?"<br>

==Notes==
===Lost in translation===
* The dub adds in a lot of explication about Megatron's plan in the early scenes, which were mostly silent for ''Super Link''.
* Alpha Q wonders if it's right to allow Earth to be destroyed, a point lost in the dub.
* The dub changes the Desert City tower's output from 10 percent to 70 percent—quite a difference.
* Demolishor tells Megatron that humans don't ''have'' sparks, and that if they die, that's it for them. Megatron replies that they're an inferior species. The dub warps this conversation around a bit, making it sound rather nonsensical (see quotes above).
* In ''Super Link'', Megatron more pointedly asks Demolishor if he still has feelings for Earth.
* Ironhide and Kicker's conversation on the nature of human life isn't changed much for the dub, but the dub omits Kicker likening his own life to the glow of fireworks, thereby diminishing a running theme of the episode.
* Misha responds to Kicker that she ''already'' sent Skyblast(s) to investigate, thereby explaining where the inert Omnicons came from. The dub mutates this into her saying she ''will'' send Omnicons, only to say a second later that her group can't get there in time.
* The dub no longer explicitly state that one of the comets has pulled ahead of the other two, though it remains discernible from the animation... sorta.
* Alpha Q's closing self-conversation is more a debate on whether he wants to help the Autobots and protect the Earth. The dub makes this somewhat less clear.

===Pain count===
* "Uh?": 17
* Stock footage: 2
* Energon is great: 2
* We've gotta: 1
* What's going on: 1
* Aw, great: 1

===Animation and technical errors===
* Megatron is not voiced by David Kaye in this episode, but [[Richard Newman]]—which is somewhat more inexplicable than normal because Newman was not otherwise part of the ''Energon'' dub cast.

===Continuity errors===
* A comical moment relies on Ironhide barely managing to grab hold of Jetfire as he flies up the tower, in defiance of all the Transformers' previously-demonstrated ability to fly just about anywhere.
* If the Terrorcons are draining the tower's energon, why do they need to be given energon to heal themselves?
* Kicker and Ironhide never did anything to actually fix the tower (on screen, at least).

===Trivia===
*As Jetfire arrives at Desert City, one of the Omnicons in the background is rather amusingly kicking his legs around as he's pulled up by a cable.
After [[Sentinel Prime (ROTF)|Sentinel Prime]] was retrieved from [[Earth]]'s [[Moon (moon)|Moon]] and reactivated, [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] put into motion the plan that had been waiting in the wings for hundreds of years. With the [[human]] [[Sam Witwicky]] believing that the Decepticons wished to capture Sentinel and force him to use the control pillar to activate his space bridge, Hatchet, [[Crankcase (DOTM)|Crankcase]] and [[Crowbar]] were sent to pursue the Autobots. Hatchet was targeted by the Autobot [[Mirage (Movie)|Dino]], who embedded his anchored blades into the Decepticon's back, and corralled Hatchet into the firing line of [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] and [[Sideswipe (Movie)|Sideswipe]]. After Hatchet was pounded with Autobot ordnance, Dino tossed the Decepticon into the oncoming side of the highway, where he slammed into a passing car and was destroyed. {{storylink|Dark of the Moon (film)}}
* '''Decepticon Hatchet''' (Cyberverse Commander, 2011)
**''ID number'': '''Series 1, 007'''
**''Japanese ID number'': '''CV21'''
**''Accessories'': 2 attack drones/alpha-rez cannons

:Unlike his onscreen appearance, ''[[Cyberverse]]'' Hatchet transforms into a modified Eurofighter Typhoon jet. He includes two attack drones that can be carried under his wings in vehicle mode or transformed into two cannons, one single- and one multi-barreled. These cannons can then be combined end-to-end to form a larger two-handled rifle. Despite being a quadruped, his claws are still designed to be able to hold Cyberverse-scale weapons. He has sculpted "muscle" detailing on his torso, sculpted spine detailing on his back, and the jet exhaust around his neck resembles a collar. His jet mode has flip-out landing gear in the nose.

:Most likely to save space, his lower legs are not fully transformed in-package (the official photos also depict him mistransformed this way.). The instructions also don't mention it, but Hatchet can stand very well on two legs, being able to hold his weapons in his hands without balance issues.

:In an undocumented step of his transformation, the flap behind his cockpit (at the base of his robot mode tail) flips back to cover much of the open space in his torso. In a total design fluke, this cavity is large enough for a Human Alliance human figure, making Hatchet function like a Human Alliance toy.

:Another undocumented feature involves his drone weapons. There is a small tab on the back of the single-barreled gun which can fit into a hole in the center of the front of the larger Gatling gun drone, creating a single rather large (in Cyberverse scale) rifle, even larger than the combined form for Cyberverse Ironhide's cannons.

==Notes==
* An early working name for him was "Dirtbag".<ref name="nizzi">[http://www.joshnizzi.com/TF3.htm Josh Nizzi DOTM concepts.]</ref>
*Several Dread Assaulters identical to Hatchet appear in the [[Dark of the Moon (Xbox 360/PS3)|Dark of the Moon video game]].
*Three giant versions of Hatchet with back-mounted guns were present in the opening battle scene of Dark of the Moon.
Following the [[Battle of Autobot City]] in 2005, Scourge was created from the remains of [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] by [[Unicron]]. Scourge was designated commander of his legion of huntsmen, the [[Sweep]]s, and traveled with his new leader, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Galvatron, Scourge and [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] then returned to [[Autobot City]] and sent the remaining Autobots fleeing into outer space.

After blasting their ship, the Decepticons believed the Autobots dead. Unicron sent a painful message to Galvatron, informing him he was wrong. Galvatron argued the point until Scourge reminded his leader "we belong to him". The Decepticons then tracked the Autobots to the [[Junkion (planet)|Planet of Junk]] where Scourge and the Sweeps dismembered [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] and stole the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. Unicron learned of Galvatron's intended rebellion and attacked Cybertron. Whether Scourge, who was vocally loyal to Unicron, fought to protect Cybertron is unknown. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}}

After the Decepticons were sent packing to [[Chaar]], Cyclonus and Scourge went on an expedition to track down their lost leader, Galvatron, who hadn't been seen since Unicron went kablooey. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1}} They found Galvatron soaking in a lava pit on [[Thrull]], and much to their disappointment, discovered their leader had gone totally nuts. Galvatron was set to plow his way through his minions before Scourge took to bended knee and appealed to Galvatron's ego to stop. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2}} Scourge and Cyclonus took their leader back to Chaar to command the Decepticon army, only to find the planet all but deserted. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3}} It turned out that the other Decepticons had allied with the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]], which after some negotiation led to a Decepticon-Quintesson joint attack on Cybertron. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4}} Scourge participated in this attack, but the Decepticons were eventually driven away. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5}}

Scourge and his Sweeps were working with Galvatron and Cyclonus to hunt Rodimus Prime, when they came across the [[Autobot Mausoleum]] in deep space. Infiltrating the space barge, they continued their attack on the Autobots until [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] himself rose from the grave to fight back. Scourge and his huntsmen fled before the former Autobot leader, forcing Galvatron and Cyclonus to withdraw as well. {{storylink|Dark Awakening}}

Scourge and Cyclonus were hunting the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbot]] called [[Air Raid (G1)|Air Raid]] for sport, but were caught in an ambush when the other Aerialbots jumped them in an asteroid field. The two Decepticons fled through a nearby vortex and crashed on the peaceful planet known as [[Paradron]]. Finding the world rich with energon resources, Scourge and Cyclonus immediately alerted Galvatron to their find and began to plunder the world of energy. {{storylink|Fight or Flee}}

When [[Octane]] took [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] to [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya|Carbombya]] without permission, Scourge came with Galvatron and the other Decepticons to chastise the fueler for disobedience. His discovery of super-energon made from Carbombyan oil temporarily assuaged Galvatron's anger, but once the Decepticons were forced out of Carbombya by the Autobots, Galvatron expelled Octane as a traitor to the cause. {{storylink|Thief in the Night}} Sometime later, Scourge was hunting Octane on Cybertron with Cyclonus and the Sweeps, when their prey fled underground into the [[Decepticon Crypt]]. Scourge would prove to be a very poor leader, with his followers, the Sweeps, refusing his order to follow Octane below (though they were scared to death of Cyclonus). {{storylink|Starscream's Ghost}}

Scourge stood with Cyclonus and Galvatron as they eavesdropped on the Autobots, who were preparing for a galactic Peace Conference. Foolish Autobots, thinking there can be peace! Galvatron ordered Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps to intercept a shuttle commandeered by [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]] and [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]], but it seemed to be only Cyclonus and Sweeps who were seen thereafter. {{storylink|Surprise Party}}

He was later possessed by the disembodied [[Spark|ghost]] of [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]], though this eventually became a mutual partnership. Starscream intended to help Unicron turn Cybertron into his new body in exchange for a new body of his own. Scourge began to have second thoughts about this until Unicron reminded him that "what I have given you, I can also take away". Scourge eventually left Unicron and rejoined the Decepticons. Why Galvatron accepted his return instead of, oh...reducing him to composite particles is unknown. {{storylink|Ghost in the Machine}}
While searching for a new source of [[Anti-electron|anti-electrons]], the Decepticons attempted to raid Unicron's brain. At one point, Autobot commander [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] was separated from the Matrix of Leadership by Galvatron. Galvatron, who was haunted by the spirits within it, instructed Scourge to dispose of the Matrix. Scourge decided to use the power of the Matrix to his advantage and installed it within his chest. ''Very'' bad idea. The Matrix proved incompatible with Decepticon programming, causing Scourge to morph into a hideous freak with the power driving him mad. Scourge attempted to seize control of the Decepticons until Hot Rod took back the Matrix. Scourge was left at the mercy of a very unhappy Galvatron, but somehow beat the reaper yet again. {{storylink|The Burden Hardest to Bear}}
In 2007, the Decepticons stole the [[Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber|key]] to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]] on Cybertron, and Scourge was set with infiltrating the chamber whilst the other Decepticons performed a full-scale assault on the planet as a diversion. He succeeded, but inserting the key into the chamber led to a plasma energy burst that very nearly killed him. He was saved by an [[Energon infuser|energon infusion]] from Cyclonus, and was subsequently sent to find the Autobots who had taken the key back while Scourge was unconscious. Together with Cyclonus, [[Slugslinger (G1)|Slugslinger]], [[Triggerhappy]] and [[Misfire]], Scourge tracked the Autobots to [[Nebulos|Nebulon]]. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

After clashing with the brand new Autobot [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] and losing badly, Scourge and the others were kidnapped by the Nebulon group known as the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]], who offered to [[Binary-bonding|binary-bond]] with the Decepticons and increase their power. Scourge chose to become a [[Targetmaster]], getting the loud Nebulan [[Fracas]] as his partner, and the Decepticon Headmasters and Targetmasters subsequently attacked and defeated the Autobots. Scourge got the key to the Plasma Energy Chamber back and voiced his desire to destroy the Autobots completely before moving on, only for Fracas to threaten to shoot him unless the Decepticons went back to the Hive as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the Autobots copied their Targetmaster technology and went back into battle, and [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] managed to knock Scourge down and steal the key back. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 2}} {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 3}}
Scourge took part in one of Galvatron's schemes alongside Cyclonus and [[Gnaw]]. The Autobots intervened when their mechanized space monster captured a human vessel. The Decepticons almost managed to snare Rodimus Prime, but he tricked Galvatron into blasting him an exit, leaving behind an explosive device that ended the Decepticon threat. {{storylink|The Story of Super Robot Lifeforms: The Transformers issue 1|The Story of Super Robot Lifeforms: The Transformers #1}} Later on, Scourge and his Sweeps joined the assault on the [[Prime Energy Tower]] on [[Feminia]]. {{storylink|The Story of Super Robot Lifeforms: The Transformers issue 5|The Story of Super Robot Lifeforms: The Transformers #5}}

Both Scourge's and Cyclonus' intelligence seemed to have evaporated by the year 2011, leaving Galvatron's once right-hand men nothing but a pair of bumbling oafs. They assisted Galvatron in the attack on Cybertron to seize control over [[Vector Sigma]]. {{storylink|The Mystery of Planet Master}} Despite the fact that Optimus Prime had spent hours, perhaps days trying to reach the supercomputer's core, Scourge and Cyclonus somehow go ahead of him within mere minutes. {{storylink|Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime}} Scourge participated in the Decepticon operations on Planet [[Beast (planet)|Beast]], but was largely ineffective in Galvatron's fight with Rodimus Prime. Not as bad as Cyclonus, who beaned his leader with a rock, but still. {{storylink|Rebellion on Planet Beast}} Scourge later called the Sweeps out of retirement to help occupy the Autobots until Galvatron's gravity-warping meteorite could reach [[Athenia]]. {{storylink|Approach of the Demon Meteorite}} Acting as Galvatron's social secretary, he informed his leader that [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] had arrived for a meeting. {{storylink|The Four-Million-Year-Old Veil of Mystery}}

At one point Scourge and Cyclonus attempted to prove their worth by stealing [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] and using him to hunt down a mysterious Six Changer. However, that plan failed miserably when that Six Changer turned out to be their own ally, [[Sixshot]]. Both Scourge and Cyclonus ditched Trypticon in battle, leading to the Decepticon city's destruction (though he was eventually repaired). {{storylink|Terror! The Six Shadows}} After Galvatron vanished during Cybertron's destruction, and the unfamiliar [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] took over as Emperor of Destruction, Scourge and Cyclonus felt even less secure in their positions. When [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundblaster]] proudly sucked up to Scorponok, reporting on a new energy-absorbing satellite named [[Sol 1]] set for launch, Scourge vowed to steal the satellite in order to gain favor in Scorponok's eyes. Joined by Cyclonus and [[Predaking]], he attacked the launch pad, but was repelled by [[Raiden]] and the Headmasters. [[Brainstorm]] did some aerial dogfighting with Scourge, and the Decepticons were forced to leave empty-handed. {{storylink|The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok}}

Scourge and Cyclonus were concerned that Scorponok's latest series of attacks on Earth were more likely to destroy the planet than allow the Decepticons to gather energy. Scorponok told to them that the awe-inspiring [[plasma energy]] was released from Cybertron in its destruction. {{storylink|The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts}} In his next scheme, Scorponok explained to the duo that he planned to detonate a series of bombs to destroy the planet [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], and harvest the plasma energy its destruction would surely generate. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! [[Image:ReturnoftheImmortalEmperor-CyclonusScourge.jpg|right|thumb|300px|When did we become Bebop and Rocksteady?]]

Later, Scourge and Cyclonus made arrangements for Scorponok's official society debut as leader of the Decepticons. The Autobots attacked during the proceedings on Earth's [[Moon (moon)|moon]], but all combatants were interrupted by the triumphant return of Galvatron. Scourge was quick to redirect his boot-licking towards his old commander, as Scorponok's leadership was immediately overruled. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} Scourge and Cyclonus would later field an SOS call from the planet [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]], and reported their findings to Galvatron. {{storylink|SOS from Planet Sandra}}

Presumably left behind on Earth while Galvatron plundered the cosmos for energon, Scourge and Cyclonus were not seen for many months. After he returned, Galvatron heaped praise on Sixshot, telling Scourge and Cyclonus that they could learn a thing or two from the Ninja Commander. Grumbling to themselves, the duo noticed [[Punch (G1)|Counterpunch]] acting shifty, but were too caught up in their own problems to think too much about it. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}}
''Following Unicron's consumption of Cybertron's moons, Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge [[Time travel|traveled back in time]] from 2006 to 1986 as part of a plan to free themselves from Unicron's control by constructing a massive cannon that would destroy him upon their return to the future. The three Unicronian Decepticons proved themselves almost invincible in the face of the Autobots' attacks, though a lucky shot destroyed Scourge's weapon after he had incapacitated [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]], and Scourge was relatively weaponless (most of his weapons could only be used in vehicle mode). Though he also took down [[Grapple]], Megatron managed [[Anti-grav manacles|to down]] Scourge and use him as a bargaining chip.
''Following the destruction of Unicron at the hands of Rodimus Prime and the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]], Galvatron transported himself back in time to 1987, leaving Cyclonus and Scourge in the future, under [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]’s command. The duo were attacked by the freelance peace-keeping agent, [[Death's Head (G1)|Death's Head]], who was seeking the bounty on Galvatron’s head, and Cyclonus revealed Galvatron’s whereabouts to him.'' {{storylink|Wanted: Galvatron — Dead or Alive!}} ''Later, Shockwave hired Death’s Head to kill Rodimus Prime, but Cyclonus and Scourge interfered with the job as they sought to kill Rodimus first, in order to reclaim their lost standing amongst the Decepticons.'' {{storylink|Headhunt}} ''This did not please Death’s Head, and consequently, he willingly accepted a contract from Rodimus to hunt down Cyclonus and Scourge, eventually tracking them down to the planet of Junk as 2008 dawned. Before he could finish the job, however, all three of them fell under the mind-controlling influence of Unicron, whose disembodied head had survived the destruction of his body and had landed on the planet, where he was having the native Junkions construct a new body for him.''

''Under Unicron's control, Cyclonus and Scourge killed Shockwave and became Decepticon leaders, reigniting the stalemated Cybertronian war to a furious degree to cover Unicron's actions. Death's Head, however, was able to fight the mind control and work with the Autobots long enough to stop the chaos-bringer's plan. As explosions destroyed Unicron, Death's Head tackled Cyclonus and Scourge, pushing them through a time portal Unicron had built, promising to kill them another time. Cyclonus and Scourge traveled with Scorponok and several other Decepticons to the peaceful planet [[Nebulos]] in pursuit of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]'s Autobots. After Scorponok and the [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]] were defeated by the new Autobot [[Targetmaster]]s, the Nebulan [[Vorath]] attempted to duplicate the technology on the Decepticons. Scourge was partnered with [[Fracas]], a Nebulan recruit who had been bio-mechanically engineered to be able to transform into his weapon. Scourge was soon presented with an opportunity to test his new Targetmaster abilities when some Autobot Headmaster prisoners escaped. The fury of the battle destroyed the city of [[Koraja]], culminating in Fortress Maximus knocking down Scourge and the other Decepticon Targetmasters with part of a beloved fountain. Ultimately, Scourge and Scorponok's Decepticons followed the Autobots off Nebulos to [[Earth]]. {{storylink|Brothers in Armor!!}}

''Once there, Scourge and Cyclonus sought out Galvatron, and, no longer willing to serve him, instead demanded that he hand over his [[Time-jump trigger device|time travel device]] so that they could return to the future and their position as Decepticon leaders. The confrontation was disrupted by the sudden appearance of the Autobot commando squad, the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]], who drew the ensuing battle away from the human settlement it was taking place in by professing to have stolen Galvatron's time jump mechanism, when in reality, the Decepticon no longer even had it for them to take.'' {{storylink|Wrecking Havoc}}

''Cyclonus and Scourge’s displacement into the past had circumvented the normal mass-replacement method used by time travel, and had hence unbalanced the space-time continuum, causing a rift to appear in the fabric of space and time. Cyclonus's death, eighteen years before he was even created, proved to be the final straw, accelerating the rift, which soon threatened to consume Earth and Cybertron. Realizing that the only way to stop it was to return himself, Galvatron and Cyclonus to their original time, Scourge attempted to recover Cyclonus’ body from Shockwave, only to be attacked by the deranged Decepticon, who had lost his mind due to the illogical nature of the situation, and had strung Cyclonus' remains up like a twisted trophy. Scourge staggered back to the time rift and allowed it to take him, hoping that that would have some effect on the situation. It didn't. [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], however, succeeded where Scourge had failed, and was able to bring Shockwave back to sanity enough for him to deposit Cyclonus’ remains after Galvatron and Scourge, and then seal it with an x-ray blast. [[Image:ColdWar-Scourge.jpg|left|thumb|300px|Pssst, Scourge, "then you crack the nuts inside."]]
Millions of years ago, as [[Unicron]] entered a stage of hibernation, the first wave of his herald drone fleet was launched to scour the galaxy, looking for Cybertron. The Alpha drone designated Scourge managed to find Cybertron during the [[Great Shutdown]], an enforced shutdown of all Transformers on the planet, and managed to reactivate [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] for the purpose of observing the Decepticon from afar. {{storylink|Generation One issue 0|Generation One #0}} However, Shockwave was soon attacked by the [[Quintesson]] [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticon]] extermination units left behind on this world. Forced to intervene, Scourge easily destroyed a number of Sharkticons and drove off the rest, saving Shockwave's life. {{storylink|Cold War (issue)|Cold War}} As a way a saying thank you, Shockwave shot Scourge in the back, took him prisoner, dissected him and studied the Unicronian Transformer, gaining great knowledge of Cybertron's origin and its inhabitants. {{storylink|Generation One issue 0|Generation One #0}}

[[Image:OriginalSin-Scourge.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Later I look like my toy!]]
Scourge (or another drone like him) escaped to Earth and attacked [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] and [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme's]] shuttle just as it arrived on its mission to search for the missing [[Ark (G1)|Ark]]. Tricking the drone into pursuing an escape pod, Jetfire managed to shutdown the advanced Transformer's systems and was dragging him back to their crashed ship when they were both buried in an avalanche. {{storylink|Original Sin}}

Thousands of years later, the Autobots were drawn to the [[Alaska]]n shore, right into a trap set by the Decepticons. The Autobots fought desperately to keep the Autobot escape pod out of Megatron's hands, and during the fighting, it was inadvertently activated. Just as the Autobots gained the upper hand, Scourge ordered the combatants to stand down, informing them that the war was over, the factionalism that had divided their race had ended, and Cybertron was now unified under a new leader. Before he could speak further, Shockwave shot him in the back, declaring both Autobots and Decepticons to be war criminals. {{storylink|New World Order}}

Evidently Shockwave never bothered to recover Scourge's body, as he was retrieved by the [[Earth Defense Command]] and taken to their secret base for reverse-engineering. After the failure of the [[Expansion]], [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] gathered the remains of his comrades on [[Gorlam Prime]] and prepared to melt them down as a warrior's burial. Scourge was barely alive, and Cyclonus sadly said this was the last thing he could do for him. However, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] emerged from the [[solar pool]] and blasted Scourge and the others. Though Cyclonus thought him crazy, Galvatron explained the [[Darkness (G1)|Darkness]] would not let Scourge die. Scourge recovered, and Galvatron again flung him into the slag, from which he emerged in pain but fully restored. Soon, the other warriors were transformed into clones of Scourge (though Galvatron complained they should have been made in ''his'' image). The clones, known as the [[Sweep]]s, were bonded to Scourge, who was to keep them in line. Scourge asked Cyclonus what they should do, and Cyclonus responded that as [[Seeker (body-type)|Seeker]]s, they should follow Galvatron's bidding. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 14|All Hail Megatron #14}}

At Galvatron's command, the Seekers searched all over Gorlam Prime for signs of life, as the planet's entire population had apparently vanished at some point while they had been wasting away. Scourge and his Sweeps found nothing, so Galvatron opted to track down their ally [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] and the portal to the Dead Universe. They found him as a crushed and dismembered wreck, but Galvatron easily undid his injuries using the Darkness. They were saved by Galvatron's mighty firepower, and were sent by him to chase after Arcee as she tried to flee. After sending her tumbling into an abyss, they returned to Galvatron's side and watched him enter the Dead Universe, where he met the malevolent entity known as "[[D-Void]]". He emerged rather panicky, telling his troops that they needed to raise an army to stand against this threat. {{storylink|Heart of Darkness issue 2|Heart of Darkness #2}}
Seeking to add [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]'s Autobots to his army, Galvatron traveled towards [[Earth]]. On the way, his ship encountered a space-time anomaly containing a frozen block of corpses, both organic and robotic. The crew brought in on board to investigate it, only to be faced with a [[zombie]] outbreak once the ice was thawed. Scourge and the others battled the undead, including several of his infected Sweeps, until their ship was sabotaged and crashed in [[Las Vegas]], Earth. He comes with two weapons that can combine (via clip joints) into a weapon that looks like [[Fracas]]. These weapon halves store inside the wings of the aircraft, which unfold to create Scourge's cape-like batwings in robot mode (though this is not suggested in the instructions). The weapon with the clip can also attach to his head-mounted laser, as can any other weapon that makes use of [[C joint|3mm clips]]. His head can also rise up farther in vehicle mode so that you can reenact hilarious [[character model]] mishaps. It's not mentioned in the instructions either, but this is actually a necessary step in transforming him into robot mode (otherwise he hides like a turtle in his shell with his head half-buried in his chest). The package photo shows Scourge with red [[light-piping|light-piped]] eyes, but the production version changes that to blue, which is odd considering this is clear plastic ''painted'' blue.

:Like many, many aircraft-based Transformers, Scourge possesses landing gear in his alternate mode. There is a pair of flaps near the middle of his underside that can unfold to display six wheels, and underneath his robot mode head is a seventh landing gear wheel that can be flipped out. ==Notes==
[[Image:ScourgeG1-charactermodels.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Hooked On Steroids worked for me!]]
* Like most of the [[The Transformers: The Movie|1986 Animated Film]] characters, Scourge has two [[character model]]s. The first one was designer [[Floro Dery]]'s original, which inspired the action figure and was used prominently in the Marvel Comics stories. The second was revised from Dery's to have more standard, "heroic" proportions and was used in the original cartoon, though not 100% consistently. Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of Dery's Scourge was the revealed head in vehicle mode. This was removed entirely for the revised version probably because it looked extremely dorky.

* When asked why Scourge and the Sweeps stick their heads out while they're in vehicle mode, Floro Dery replied: ''"The heads stick out because the idea is like a regular fighter plane. You can see just the head of the fighter pilot. If you have seen my [http://web.archive.org/web/20060704085053/hometown.aol.com/celydery/egg.html "Egg" design] on my web site, I based Scourge on it."''<ref>[http://web.archive.org/web/20060625115408/http://members.aol.com/tfencyc/interview_dery.html Zobovor's Interview with Floro Dery]</ref>

* Early drafts of The Transformers: The Movie script also portray Scourge as propping his head out in vehicle mode to serve as sort of the "eyes" of the expedition. More interestingly, his alt mode was originally land based with Cyclonus and his armada being the only jets.

* A close examination of Scourge's character model (both final and early versions) reveals that his animation model transforms somewhat ''backwards'' from the way his toy representations do. Whereas the toys have the upward-facing torso concealed fully within the wings, the animation model actually has nearly ''all'' of the chest and body front details visible on the ''underside'' of the vehicle mode. This further implies that the robot head twists 180 degrees and folds backwards to complete formation of the vehicle mode rather than just staring at his own chest.

* It's not known how much (if any) communication there was between Marvel's US office and the UK offices where Simon Furman was churning out his behind-the-scenes stories, but regardless, Cyclonus and Scourge completely disappeared from the US book after ''[[The Transformers: Headmasters|Headmasters]]''—leaving Furman free to send them off to find Galvatron in "[[Wrecking Havoc]]".

* For some reason, Scourge's head-mounted cannon was implied to not be a cannon in the comics, as the loss of a handgun in "[[Target: 2006]]" apparently left Scourge completely weaponless in robot mode, making transformation a complete necessity.

*In the same manner as [[Lockdown (ROTF)|ROTF Lockdown]] and Generations [[Darkmount]], [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]], and [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]], Generation Scourge's instructions clearly depict a different head. However it is currently unknown which charachter this is intended for.
