Originally published: In the Transformers Legends anthology, November 2004

Synopsis
Following his destruction at the hands of the Hydra Cannon, Optimus Prime finds himself in Maccadam's Old Oil House, encountering a similarly ghostly Optimus Primal. Both of their sparks 'split,' resulting in the arrivals of the original Optimus Prime, and a future Optimus Primal. (See Trivia/Notes for 'when' each version came from.)

All four attempt to discern why they're here, eventually concluding that Armada Optimus Prime is the key, as he was here first. Optimus Primal theorizes that each of their sparks, though separate, have affinity across time, space and dimensions, drawn into similar events and conflicts with similarly affinitive sparks. (Their deaths at the hands of 3 respective Megatrons.)

Armada Optimus Prime's sacrifice differs from that of the others. While a leader is always prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if there is no other choice, he must be cautious against the urge to sacrifice himself, especially when his leadership is still needed, especially as redemption for perceived mistakes. While a leader is responsible for his mistakes, he is also responsible for his troops, and cannot recklessly throw his life away, as Armada Optimus Prime attempted to do.

Armada Optimus' crisis of confidence resolved, all four briefly join, feeling the Prime Spark, the part of all of their sparks that resonates as one (the affinity Primal theorized about,) then separate to share a drink together before fading back to their respective dimensions and eras.

On the way out, all four encounter their respective Megatrons, fresh from a similar meeting. They run at one another for a hilarious comedy moment before fading out.

With renewed vigor, Optimus Prime returns to life, ready to kick Decepticon skidplate!

Continuity
Prime Spark takes place in late in Armada's cartoon continuity, spanning the 3 episode gap between Crisis and Miracle from Armada Optimus Prime's point of view. It also touches on the events of The Transformers: The Movie and the Beast Wars and Beast Machines television series.

Trivia/Notes
* Armada Optimus Prime comes from the moment of his destruction in "Crisis", the 39th episode of the Armada Cartoon series.
* Generation 1 Optimus Prime comes from the moment of his death defending Autobot City in The Transformers: The Movie.
* Optimus Primal comes from his destruction in a Transwarp explosion in "Other Voices, Part 2", the 26th episode of Beast Wars. His later incarnation arrives from either his disintegration in the Plasma Energy Chamber in "End of the Line", the 13th episode of Beast Machines or his final moment in the series finale, just which one is never actually stated.
* The Beast Machines Primal really shouldn't be here. (Instead, he should be tripping around in the Matrix), but hey, he died, so what the hell.
* The physics text by Robert Nagisa that Generation 1 Optimus Prime mentions reading appears to be fictional.
* The meeting takes place in Armadas version of Maccadam's Old Oil house, in the relative present of the animated series.
* Beast Machines Optimus Primal is described as huge and hulking, larger than Armada's Tidal Wave; the author was going by the toy, not realizing the character was supposed to be much smaller than Optimus Prime.
* Two of the four Megatrons lack equivalent deaths for their meeting, and one of the other two is never actually revived in any canonical source, making it a little strange that he's depicted as leaving the establihment. This is glossed over.
* The Transformer generally regarded to be Maccadam is identified merely as the bartender in this story.
* Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime is conspicuously absent. Okay, he had no death/rebirth to speak of, but still.

A continuity family is SITENAMEs term for a group of distinct but closely-related individual continuities. For example, Generation 1, the original Transformers toyline and franchise, had several separate continuities. Therefore, there is no single Generation 1 continuity, but many related ones. Further, these continuities are clearly distinguishable from the various Unicron Trilogy continuities, or from Robots in Disguise.

There are, at this time, five known major continuity families:
# Generation 1
# Robots in Disguise
# Unicron Trilogy
# Movie
# Transformers Animated

There is also one minor (i.e., much less prominent) family:
# Go-Bots

Specific families
Generation 1 continuity family
Generation 1 is by far the most extensive continuity family in the Transformers multiverse. It includes the original toyline and all related media, the divergent Japanese exclusive material begun in 1987, and the Generation 2 revival of the franchise from the 1990s, as well as later "rebooted" versions of the Generation 1 story, such as those created by Dreamwave and IDW. Additionally, the so-called "Beast Era" also belongs to this continuity family. This includes Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, and Beast Machines.

This family had 17 years of exclusive reign, encompassing all material that was produced between 1984 and the end of Beast Machines in 2001. Even after the establishment of other continuity families beginning in 2001, the rate at which Generation 1 fiction has been produced is almost equal to that of non-G1 fiction.

Robots in Disguise family
This includes the television series, the short comic story from the Dreamwave Summer Special and the expanded toyline-spawned fiction.

Although RiD's original, Japanese incarnation -- Car Robots -- was initially thought of as part of this new family, Car Robots has since been retconned into a part of Japan's Generation 1 continuity family. (See Continuity#Unified Japanese continuities.) Good luck figuring that one out.

Unicron Trilogy family
This includes the Armada, Energon, and Cybertron toylines and all related media. Japanese incarnations are included. Initially, the Japanese version of Cybertron (known as Galaxy Force) was not part of this family, but has apparently been retconned back in. (See Continuity#Unified Japanese continuities.)

Movie family
This family's central feature is the 2007 live-action film Transformers and any sequels. Accompanying the movie is a large array of supporting fiction in the form of prequels, novelizations, children's adaptations, and the like.

Animated family
In 2008 a new continuity family was born with the premiere of the Transformers Animated cartoon. This family will presumably also include comics and other ancillary fiction.

Go-Bots family
The least prominent continuity family, this is based around the Go-Bots toyline, encompassing the Playskool Transformers lines and cartoons aimed at ages five and below. (Sometimes called Go-Go-Go-Bots by fans.)

Quibbles
Categorizing stories into their continuity families is a subjective business, so all of the above should be taken merely as operational definitions agreed upon by the editors of SITENAME to make our job easier. They are not declarations of universal truth.

IDW comics
Although the main IDW comics such as Infiltration and its sequels are clearly beholden to Generation 1, the IDW continuity differs from previous G1 continuities more significantly than most. Among the differences:
*Only a handful of Transformers were dormant, hidden away on Earth for an extended period of time. Instead, most of the cast has only recently arrived and they are not stranded.
*Galvatron and Megatron are separate characters with no relationship to each other.
*The basic overarching nature of the Cybertronian civil war is radically different to earlier G1 continuities, featuring a galaxy-spanning Cold War with complex diplomatic rules of engagement and a heavy emphasis on the covert infiltration of many planets on multiple fronts, while Cybertron itself is an unihabitable wasteland due to a past catyclysm.
*There are no signs of Primus or Unicron. According to statements by writer Simon Furman, they may in fact not exist at all here, throwing a wrench in Universes retcons about the gods being "multiversal singularities". On the same note, however, Galvatron serves a very Unicron-like entity. Spotlight: Galvatron

*Unlike all previous major incarnations of G1, most of the IDWverse versions of these familiar characters have different altmodes and/or transformations to their original toy-based designs, even after adopting "Earth modes". This tends to be either through having a different vehicle altmode (Skywarp as an F-22 instead of an F-15, Hot Rod as a real car) or even an entirely different transformation scheme for their classic altmode (Bumblebee with the Volkswagen hood in his chest instead of his feet). Even virtually identical characters such as Optimus Prime and Megatron have subtle design nods to differentiate them from more mainstream iterations of G1, such as Prime's truck-mode sun visor, and Megatron's new altmode (and slightly different transformation scheme) as a stockless Walther P99 instead of the classic U.N.C.L.E.-configured P38.

On the other hand, every major and most minor characters (save the humans) come directly from the Generation 1 toyline or the Transformers fiction contemporary with it. While the similarities outweigh the differences, it is still worth noting that this continuity is a bit far out from the center.

IDW Evolutions
IDW's Evolutions line of comics features explicitly alternate-universe treatments of Transformers characters. E.g., the only existing example, Hearts of Steel, sets the G1 characters in the 19th century, where they transform into locomotives, ironclad ships, etc. As Hearts of Steel broadly resembles G1, it is treated here as part of the G1 family. (Though it is arguably further-out than even the main IDW continuity.) Future releases in the Evolutions line may be judged differently.

Movie
Some fans think of the movie as being another "reboot" of Generation 1 rather than an all-new entity. This is largely because several of the characters are new incarnations of G1 characters. SITENAME initially decided to treat the movie as a new family as a matter of practicality: the movie was bound to give us large quantities of new information as well as several sub-continuities based on books and comics. Trying to force all of that additional info into already-long Generation 1 articles would be difficult. Additionally, burying movie-related information in gigantic pre-existing articles would be a disservice to people who come to the wiki looking for information about the movie.

In the end, after more background on the movie became known, it became clear that the movie differed quite a bit from G1 despite a handful of mostly-the-same characters. Also, about half of the robots in the Unicron Trilogy have G1 counterparts(some just in name, others moreso), so there is a precedent for this sort of thing.

Universe
The Universe franchise features a meta/cross-continuity family storyline which begins as part of the Generation 1/Beast Era continuity family, but also includes characters from the Unicron Trilogy and Robots in Disguise, and even one character from the Go-Bots franchise. However, because the "home base" of the Universe stories is post-Beast Machines Cybertron, it is generally thought of as belonging to the Generation 1 family.

Summary
Vastly outnumbered, Dinobot, Rattrap, and Cheetor attempt to hold off the Predacons some distance form their base, to allow Rhinox to complete his mission to travel through the Allspark. When Megatron orders them to take no survivors, Silverbolt protests, saying they should let the Maximals surrender, only to be struck by the irate Predacon commander. When Silverbolt is preplexed by their resistance, Megatron realizes that they are keeping them from their base. He orders Waspinator and Silverbolt to head to the Axalon. Cheetor takes to the air, and Rattrap converts to vehicle mode, ordering Dinobot to hop on and provide cover fire (disgusting the former Predacon).

Tarantulas, however, is using the psychic link to force Blackarachnia to search for information on the Golden Disks. While she searches through the files, she discovers something of importance, but refuses to show Tarantulas. When Tarantulas is rendered unconscious by a boulder, Blackarachnia downloads the information, then destroys the computer, claiming that it was boobytrapped.

Reaching the Axalon, Silverbolt is shot down by the autoguns, and captured by the Maximals. Dinobot prepares to destroy him, but Rattrap and Cheetor prevent him, instead taking him in to repair him. Rhinox, who has finished, tells the Maximals to they must hold the Predacons off for a little while longer. Inside the Axalon, a charge hits the device Rhinox was connected to, traveling to a stasis pod with a blank protoform. Outside, the shields fail under the fire, and the Maximals engage&mdash;to discover that they are out of ammo. The Predacons seriously injure the Maximals.

Having waited a long time for their victory, the Predacons approach, prepared to deliver the killing blow. Before they can finish the Maximals off, there is an exlposion in the hull of the Axalon. When the smoke clears, the Maximals and Predacons alike are shocked to see the cause of the explosion&mdash;Optimus Primal. The Predacons attempt to destroy him, but Primal, now with his own Transmetal body, causes the Predacons to scatter. Primal takes to the air, dispatching the rest of the Predacons. Megatron attempts to kill Primal, but Silverbolt knocks Megatron off a cliff, defecting to the Maximals.

After the battle and some repairs, Primal inquires on how to the new bodies do with absorbing energon. Rhinox remarks that all the energon within the area either detonated or was converted to Energon cubes, so it isn't really a problem right now. They'll have to wait for Tigatron and Airazor's report on the rest of the planet. In the meantime, Primal remarks that he has to put his house in order, such as get to know the new additions, and remove Rattrap's personal effects from his quarters.

At the Predacon base, Blackarachnia tells Megatron that Dinobot stole the Disks and destroyed the computers. Megatron and Tarantulas ask if anything from the back ups can be recovered, and when Blackarachnia reveals that it was totally destroyed, Megatron smashes Tarantulas into the wall in rage. Megatron then declares that the Beast Wars has entered a new phase, while, unseen, binary code flashes across Blackarachnia's eyes.

Quotes
Notes
Trivia
*After Rattrap throws a rock in the air as an example of what would happen if they moved away from the cover of the boulder, it's blasted into a tiny pebble and hits the ground. All 3 Maximals "eyes" then pop out of their heads towards the rock in the fashion of the eyeball gag in classic Tex Avery cartoons.
* Blackarachnia's theft of the Golden Disk data would have consequences carrying through the remainder of the series.
* Though neither admits it, it seems likely that both Tarantulas and Megatron see through Blackarachnia's sleight-of-hand with the backup data tracks. Blackarachnia tells Megatron that the computer was destroyed by Dinobot... after telling Tarantulas that it was destroyed because it was booby trapped. Tarantulas says nothing to contradict this lie to Megatron, and later interrogates her when the chance presents itself in "Bad Spark" Megatron likewise guesses the truth and attempts to strong-arm the data from her in "The Agenda (Part III)".
* This episode continues the Spaghetti Western film references, especially when Optimus fights Inferno.
* As of the end of this episode, four of the eight members of Primal's team have spent time as Predacons, one way or another.

Technical/Animation glitches
*When Megatron opens fire on the Maximals the second time in this episode, his middle, ring, and pinky "fingers" are shown clipping through his cannon.
*While in pursuit of Rattrap and Dinobot, Megatron transforms from his beast mode in mid-flight and continues to attack from the air, yet his VTOL engines are inactive on his back rather than deployed.

Continuity errors
* Tarantulas and Waspinator arrive again mid-battle, despite having already arrived at the end of the previous episode.
* Waspinator and Silverbolt take off for the Maximal base twice, clearly going over the Maximals' heads a second time as they reassert the danger of the situation in different phrasing than before.
* Dinobot says his weapon is depleted, despite clearly having ammunition bandoliers criscrossed over his torso. The weapon gets fired more times before the episode ends, anyway.
* There's no real in-story reason for the Maximals to run out of ammunition before the Predacons, who have been unloading ordnance at them all night. Rhinox in particular should have fully loaded weapons when he enters the fight.

* The Transmetalization of Optimus Primal's new body doesn't quite fit the established Transmetal pattern, which is that bodies active before coming to Earth were Transmetalized (unless in a CR chamber at the time), while those "born" on Earth were not. As a raw protoform, Primal's new body seemingly should not be mutated.
* An earlier script revision called for the elevator into the Maximal base to be destroyed during the fight, giving Primal a more practical reason to blow a hole in the side of his own base.

Transformers references
* While Blackarachnia is searching through Megatron's stuff, a gray model of Starscream's head is in the pile. (It's too small to be the real thing, given that Beast Warriors are shown later in the series to be much smaller than G1 characters. Part of a bust maybe? Ah, yeeesssssss.)
* Other items in the pile include a WW2-era model airplane, a model helicopter, a number of books, the Holy Grail, two identical spiky planets, a pocket-watch, and a rubber ducky.
* During one of Rhinox's trips through the Matrix, near the end of the episode, the Autobot Matrix of Leadership is seen floating.
* When Rattrap asks where Rhinox went, he describes the Matrix as "where all are one".

*The Rat Patrol was a 1960s TV show about a group of Allied soldiers fighting Rommel's Afrika Corps on the North African front during World War II. A remake starring Dinobot and Rattrap would be awesome.
Summary
At the Predacon base, the ships sensors detect two stasis pods. Desparate for troops, Megatron and Inferno move out to secure them. Waspinator notices that there is only one moon now, and flies back into the base. Dinobot, looking from afar, also notices the planet's single satellite. Sneaking into the base, Dinobot corners Waspinator, who is looking at the Golden Disks. Grabbed by the thorax, Waspintor points out that there is only one moon now, and Dinobot explains the significance. They're on Earth, and the Disks can fortell the future. In a surprising show of ambition, Waspinator offers to join forces with Dinobot to steal the disks, but Dinobot uses Waspinator to deactivate the shield (by throwing him at it) then escaping and shooting the computers. Blackarachnia, hauling the deactivated body of Tarantulas to his lab, making a half-hearted effort to stop Dinobot. Having been reduced to crushed ball, Waspinator is forced to drag himself to the restoration chamber. Poor Waspy.

Meanwhile, the Maximals have found another stasis pod. Tigatron and Airazor are heading out for a more extensive survey to see what other effects the Planet Buster has had on the planet. Rattrap says that they should open up the pod, but there is no spark within, and the protoform is a blank. Rattrap asks what the use of that is, and Rhinox says there isn't a use&mdash;yet. Elsewhere, the two pods the Predacons are seeking activate their DNA scanners, but the scanners malfunction. Two Transformers emerge, one a wolf-eagle hybrid, the other a scorpion-cobra hybrid. Neither recognizes the other, the scorpion-cobra speculates that he could beat the wolf-eagle up, and attacks. Inferno arrives, and attacks. Megatron, observing, alters their command codes to become Predacons. Introducing himself, the Predacon leader shows them that they are Transformers. The scorpion-cobra names itself Quickstrike, and the wolf-eagle names itself Silverbolt.

Elsewhere, Dinobot is talking to himself about the two disks. Do they hold the future, or just what might be the future? A quick look would confirm how he dies, but it could be used once, and Dinobot could not live unless he were master of his own fate. Destroying them would be a coward's act, so he resolves to note the truth, but later. Placing the original disk under a rock, he takes the alien disk back to the Axalon. At the Maximal base, Cheetor is sent to find Dinobot, while Rhinox hooks himself up to some equipment for an unnamed purpose. Cheetor spots the Preds, but is attacked. Being alerted, Rattrap prepares to unload Sentinel on them, only for the computer to inform him that any disturbance to the base could separate Rhinox's core conciousness from his body. Dinobot arrives (hiding the disk) and asks what's going on. As Rattrap explains the problems, Dinobot, carrying more armament than Roadbuster, declares that they must take the fight away from the base.

At the Darksyde, Tarantulas's mind is restored to his body, but he left a psychic link with Blackarachnia, in an attempt to control her. Megatron contacts the base, and Waspinator, finally revived, tries to tell Megatron what happened early, but Megatron orders them to link up with other Predacons. As Rattrap and Dinobot find Cheetor, the Predacons, doubling the Maximal numbers, prepare to attack.
Frustrated by his inability to transform and ashamed of his uselessness, Rattrap makes a deal with the devil.

Summary
Optimus Primal, still exhausted after Nightscream's recent reformatting, awakens from a dream and is informed by Blackarachnia that Rattrap is on a recon mission with Cheetor and Nightscream.

At a manufacturing facility, Rattrap, Nightscream and Cheetor are being attacked by Aero Drones and Tank Drones. Since Rattrap still is unable to transform, Cheetor orders him go and download the data from the computers. As Megatron observes this, a Diagnostic Drone warns him that the DNA purging process is still in its experimental stage. But Megatron, eager to be rid of his hated beast mode, wishes to proceed before the Maximals can discover any more “mongrel beasts”.

During the fight, Nightscream uses his sonic powers and discovers that if they attack the generals, the drones stop operating. Cheetor and Nightscream plan to ambush Tankor to test the theory.

Unfortunately, Rattrap observes the ensuing entrapment setup from his computer, unaware of the plan. He finally transforms successfully, and being eager to help, swings into action as Nightscream and Cheetor are attempting to disable Tankor and Jetstorm. His interference ends up spoiling the ambush, however, and causes the factory's machinery to start operating and building more Tank Drones at a faster and faster rate. Rattrap realises his robot form is unarmed, so he is unable to help in the battle.

As the new tank drones run wild, Megatron takes control. Rattrap attempts to stop the manufacture of the drones by linking himself into the main computer, only to become a sitting target for Megatron's Aero Drones. The resulting feedback travels along the power cables and causes a system failure, the total destruction of the manufacturing plant, and a power cut for the whole sector.

On their way back to their base, Cheetor and Nightscream harshly reprimand Rattrap for not following orders. Rattrap later complains to a sleeping Optimus Primal about his robot mode, when the others appear. Cheetor knocks Rattrap to the ground, ordering him to transform to beast mode; this jolt to Rattrap's system causes him to realise Megatron is weak as he replays vital stats he downloaded earlier. However, Cheetor brushes off his suggestions of an attack on their weakened enemy.

Rattrap overhears Blackarachnia, Cheetor and Nightscream discussing what to do with him and how he is such a burden with his useless robot mode. Infuriated, he leaves the base alone.

Megatron is being told the extent of the damage caused by the feedback earlier, when Rattrap saunters into his citadel, saying he wants “noisemakers”. After a bit of back and forth, Megatron and Rattrap work out a deal wherein Rattrap will defend Megatron for one night when he is at his weakest. If anything happens to Megatron, Rattrap forfeits his new weaponry.

Unexpectedly, Cheetor, Nightscream and Blackarachnia arrive to rescue Rattrap, forcing Rattrap to honour his word with Megatron—and he does so, firing on his friends as they advance. While this is happening, Megatron returns to full strength and begins rebooting his control of Cybertron. The Maximals and Rattrap are at an impasse when Optimus Primal arrives, still exhausted, and asks Rattrap to look inside himself and re-evaluate what he's doing. Primal tells him that Rattrap is stronger than any of them realize.

Megatron orders Rattrap to to attack Optimus Primal, but Rattrap reiterates the terms of the deal: The sun is rising, the solar cycle is over, and Rattrap has kept his end of the bargain. Impressed with Rattrap's handling of the situation, Megatron upholds his word and lets the Maximals walk away. Megatron vows to his Diagnostic Drone that they shall liberate the Maximals' sparks another day.
Notes
Perceived characterization inconsistencies
* This episode was the source of some controversy, as Rattrap was arguably depicted as being a "traitor" to the Maximals, something many fans claimed was completely against the grain of his character (which never happens in Beast Machines).

* Fans also complained about Megatron's behavior at the end. Whereas before, he would have crushed a subordinate for merely mentioning "the h-word," here he makes a huge point of displaying honor when he keeps his word to Rattrap at the end of the episode, with no ulterior motive.

* In fact, either side could have potentially won the war right there, but the two characters with the least scruples suddenly became interested in fair play for no reason (other than to keep the series from ending, obviously).

* Other fans counter the points above by mentioning how Megatron implies Rattrap deserves to win because of his gambling skills, which refers back to Megatron's repeated use of gambling and card-playing idioms throughout the Beast Wars.

* It is suggested in return that "he played a fair hand" doesn't align with how Megatron used gambling lingo before, since he previously emphasized cheating (e.g., "stacking the deck") rather than fair play.

Technical/animation glitches
* When Rattrap says, "Gangway! Rat crossing!" and the Vehicons turn towards the camera, Jetstorm's mouth angles upwards, over his nose.

Continuity errors
*Uh, how can Tankor and the Aero drones track and fire on Rattrap while said Maximal is in Beast Mode?

Real-world references
* When the weakened Megatron sees Rattrap in his chamber, he remarks: "Ah, so this is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a simpering...rodent." This is a paraphrased quote from the poem "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Eliot.

Trivia
* Blackarachnia calling Rattrap a traitor is, quite frankly, the pot calling the kettle BLACK.

Jazz

:Jazz is an Autobot from the Movie continuity family.

First Lieutenant Jazz is one happy-go-lucky Autobot. Good-natured and always able to take things in stride, he provides a decent contrast to the more serious demeanor of Ironhide or Prime himself. He's also a talker, something Ironhide and Prime like to tease him about. He might be the smallest Autobot but he's by no means a coward. His only real complaint is that he always gets stuck fighting the small ones.

Fiction
Ghosts Of Yesterday
Onboard the Ark, Jazz was the first to detect the Ghost 1's presence, and was later badly damaged in a fight with the Decepticons. After being repaired, he and Ratchet fought together against Barricade.

Titan Magazines
Jazz likes "to keep his bodywork buff" by externalizing his Spark Core forcefield - in the past, that led to him almost being killed when Bonecrusher almost tore out his unprotected Spark. He only survived thanks to fellow Autobot Clocker, who was killed covering his retreat. Transformers Comic issue 6

When the All Spark was launched, Jazz, Ratchet and Ironhide attempted to distract Megatron from pursuing it. They ended up attacked by Devastator and warped across space by a fold-space weapon. Transformers Comic issue 2

Jazz ended up on a planet that he dubbed "the Information Highway" - a constantly-morphing world with "the accumulated knowledge of countless alien cultures, condensed into some kind of sensory precipitation". He loved this world and the constant new experiences so much that he deliberately ignored Ratchet's homing beacon, wanting to stay here forever. However, the planet was alive and predatory, and ended up absorbing him into it - he fired off a warning buoy to stop others arriving, and only this led to Ratchet & Ironhide finding where he was and rescuing him. Transformers Comic issue 6

He doesn't like the war and, as the Information Highway incident shows, has no qualms about deserting if given the opportunity.
Autobot campaign
Jazz arrived on Earth as part of Optimus Prime's unit, summoned to Earth by Bumblebee. After taking on the form of a Pontiac Solstice, he met up with the other Autobots. His first mission was to distract Sector Seven and law enforcement units, which he did, buying his fellow Autobots time to escape. Jazz was then surrounded by Sector Seven SUVs and Decepticon drones numerous times, requiring Ironhide's help to escape.

He would then make his way to Mission City, where he engaged Starscream, Blackout and two Dreadwing drones. Jazz defeated all four of them, but as he celebrated his great victory, Brawl appeared behind him and punctured Jazz's chest with his claw, extinguishing his spark. Ironhide arrived just in time to witness the killing, swore he'd make Brawl's death slow, and fought through a horde of Decepticon units to destroy him.
Go to the bonus features, then the Generation 1 option to use a G1-homage deco on Jazz. This does not change his appearance in the Decepticon campaign, however.)

Decepticon campaign
Jazz arrived in Mission City with Sam and Mikaela (taking the role of the destroyed Bumblebee), where he was confronted by Barricade. After a brief chase through the city, Jazz engaged Barricade in battle, where he was defeated with ease.

Transformers: Autobots
Jazz's first appearance is with the other Autobots, meeting in an old junk yard. Setting out into the city, he retrieves a number of Sector Seven vehicles before running into Blackout; after a tedious battle, Blackout runs. Returning to the group, Jazz reports his findings, and is promptly forgotten about until he's unlocked as a playable character.

Transformers: Decepticons
Much like in the movie, Jazz's big scene in Decepticons is his battle with Megatron. At the Hoover Dam, Jazz has set up several automated turrets and Autobot drones around the lower perimeter of the Dam, preventing Megatron from escaping. However, this line of defense only works for so long, since the turrets only fire at air-borne objects. Finally getting up the side of the Dam, Jazz steps in Megatron's path, doing little more than trash talking before Megatron jumps into battle. After a roughly equal fight, Jazz finally falls. Megatron then finishes him off and desecrates his corpse. But Jazz must have been hyper on Energon because taking Jazz over to the Dam, he will jump into the water on his own.
:Voice actor: Darius McCrary (English), Taitem Kusunoki (Japanese), Torsten Michaelis (German)

Jazz was part of Optimus Prime's unit, summoned to Earth by Bumblebee after the latter Autobot came to be in the possession of Sam Witwicky. After his protoform crashed through a baseball stadium, he investigated a nearby car dealership and chose a Pontiac Solstice hardtop as his vehicle mode.

Linking up with his fellow Autobots in a deserted alley, Jazz greeted Sam and Mikaela Banes as "little bitches," stating that Earth seems to be a cool place to hang out. He casually sat on the hood of another car while Optimus Prime explained to Sam they learnt Earth's languages through the internet. He then relayed their mission to find the All Spark and explained how his grandfather's glasses were the key to its location.

Soon after, as Sam looked for his grandfather's glasses, the Autobots attempted to assist by clumsily destroying the yard where they went. When it came to hide from the parents, Jazz had the easiest time blending into the shadows due to his small stature.

When Sam and Mikaela were captured by Sector Seven, the Autobots mounted a rescue that saw Optimus Prime tearing the roof off Agent Simmons' vehicle. When the agents attempted to resist, Jazz used a magnet to relieve the humans of their weapons. After Bumblebee was captured by Sector Seven during the retreat, Jazz expressed his desire to rescue him, but was overruled by Optimus Prime, who didn't believe it possible to accomplish this without harming the humans, and so they should let them go.

The next day, after Optimus used his navigation scanner on Archibald Witwicky's glasses, Jazz again commented that they could not leave Bumblebee to die at the hands of Sector Seven, to become a human experiment. Optimus replied that Bumblebee would die in vain if they did not find the All Spark, and when Ironhide asked if the primitive and cruel humans deserved to be saved, Optimus countered by asking if Transformers were so different in the past. Going on to explain what he saw in the humans, Prime declared that if it came to it, he would sacrifice himself to destroy the All Spark - the humans should not pay for Cybertron's mistakes. Inspired by his words, Jazz and the other Autobots rolled out, filled with determination.

On the way to Hoover Dam, the Autobots encountered Bumblebee leading a column of Sector Seven assault vehicles. Jazz and his fellow Autobots applied brakes and did a hard u-turn to join the formation.

Entering Mission City, the human soldiers tried to call for air support from their own forces, only to be attacked by Starscream disguised as a human F-22 fighter. Jazz, oddly, sat in vehicle mode after the explosion which crippled Bumblebee, destroying his legs. When Devastator began shelling the battle site, Jazz led the Autobot charge toward the Decepticon, speeding to the tank in vehicle mode, then transformed and hopped on top of the turret to distract the Decepticon from the humans. As Devastator also transformed, Jazz managed to wreck his left-side rocket launcher pod before being tossed off. He then sped back to the battle, firing at Devastator, while Ratchet sliced of Devastator's left arm.

Jazz then attacked Megatron when he appeared on the scene in order to cover the escape of several fleeing humans, but all he got for his trouble was being blasted by the Decepticon's fusion cannon. As Ironhide and Ratchet escorted Sam and the All Spark to safety, Jazz attempted to buy them some time by taking on Megatron by himself but was completely overmatched. The Decepticon leader tossed him through the air, then landed upon him with the crushing grip of his talons. Valiantly, Jazz fought on to the bitter end as Megatron tore him in two, throwing his pieces to the ground before attacking Optimus Prime.

After being separated from Sam Witwicky, Ratchet hurried to Jazz, but his spark had already faded. In the aftermath of Megatron's defeat, Ironhide somberly handed Optimus Prime Jazz's remains as Ratchet reported that he could not save their comrade. The Autobot leader somewhat half-heartedly eulogized him, and quickly moved on. Transformers (2007)

: A much smaller version of the character, Legends Jazz features limited articulation and detail, along with a much simpler transformation. A rather glaring side-effect of this simplicity, in a desire to mimic the hood chest of the larger toy, is the addition of a second front bumper on the roof of his alt-mode. Whether this means Jazz also includes a second engine to go with this front bumper or an attempt at compensation for a case of police car envy is unknown. Ironically, the smallest version of Jazz is the biggest Legends toy in the movie line. Even bigger than Optimus. This may make up for the Arcee toy being taller than his Deluxe figure.
: As part of the AllSpark Battles refresh of the Movie toyline, Legends class Jazz with slightly different deco with more paint for his robot mode chest... but less paint for the vehicle mode hood while the vehicle mode windows are now blue, painted on all sides.
:Once again Legends class Jazz is redecoed, this time in a battle-damaged deco based upon his appearance during the battle in Mission City. Amusingly, like the Deluxe class Final Battle Jazz toy, the "battle damage" can only be seen in robot mode. He comes packed with a redecoed Legends class Megatron toy colored with blue accents.

:Jazz transforms into a silver Pontiac Solstice Custom Hardtop. Included is a blaster weapon that elongates into a sniper rifle, which may also be clipped directly onto his rear spoiler when in vehicle mode. In robot mode, the section featuring this same rear spoiler may be kept folded onto his back or worn on either shoulder as a shield. An interesting undocumented feature is a hinge joint located on the bottom of the rifle can attach to the shield's hinge joint, creating three choice weapon configurations: (a) a mounted long range sniper rifle, (b) an ambidextrous shoulder-mounted cannon, or (c) a short range blaster with built-in shield somewhat akin to what has been seen in Jazz's concept art and in the movie itself.

: As with most of the mainline toys, he features a Automorphing gimmick that is activated by pushing the car roof down onto his back and locking it into place. This raises his head and slides his chest panels into proper position for the robot mode. This feature, like the weaponry mentioned above, is not documented at all, so one must be careful to not press the chest and the back at the same time.

: An extensive redeco of Deluxe class Jazz, this Target-exclusive is heavily based on Generation 1 Jazz's Martini Racing scheme. He's lacking in Martini sponsorship for all the obvious reasons, replacing them with his own name. Disco Jazz doesn't need to advertise really, but he does.

: This figure also features a minor retool of the joint in the forearm. On the initial, mass retail release of Deluxe Jazz, the black hinge-joint was able to slide over slightly as part of the original design. The new version features a shorter joint, which makes it a lot less floppy in robot mode.

*Final Battle Jazz (Deluxe Class, 2007)
:Japanese ID number: MA-14

: An extensive retool of Jazz, modifying his head and most of his legs to give them a broken, battle-scarred appearance. Amusingly, because Hasbro chose to keep his vehicle mode pristine, the rest of his body is undamaged. All the damaged parts have a black and blue deco, representing glowing circuitry and exposed conduits.

: Jazz comes with a brand new spring-loaded weapon (called a Crescent Cannon on the packaging), partially modeled after the actual weapon Jazz appears with in the film. It can fire a transparent blue projectile and, not unlike his original featured weapon, can be mounted in different configurations: (a) Mounted on his right arm with the Crescent Cannon missile launcher (with the crescent up) facing forward a la the film, or (b) mounted on his left arm with the flip-out rifle barrel pointed forwards (with the crescent down). The cannon can actually be rotated on the connecting peg, allowing the gun to be mounted in either configuration on either arm.

: Unusual for a regular Deluxe class figure, this version of Jazz is packaged on his card in robot mode, no doubt to highlight the changes to the figure that would not be visible in the vehicle mode.

: In addition to the retooled forearm joint also found on the Target exclusive "G1 color" Jazz, a running change variant of Final Battle Jazz adds another peg to the Crescent Cannon, thus allowing Jazz to use the weapon in all the different configurations on either arm.

: In spite of the claim that this is a "final battle" version of Jazz, his torso does not separate easily from his legs.

: This Target exclusive features the Deluxe Class Jazz in unique cylindrical packaging, with the only difference from his standard release being that key robot mode parts are highlighted by the slavish 'All Spark Blue' color for no other reason than to sell toys.

: This more movie-accurate version of Jazz sports a shinier coat of silver paint, along with added paint application detail to his robot mode parts.

Fast Action Battlers
*Ion Blast Autobot Jazz (Fast Action Battler, 2007)

:Though larger than the standard Deluxe class Jazz, Fast Action Battlers 'Ion Blast' Jazz is a simplified toy with comparatively few parts and detailing. In vehicle mode he's kind of a squat and cutified Pontiac Solstice while in robot mode he bears greater resemblance to Generation 1 depictions of Jazz due to the simple transformation sequence. Amusingly, FAB Jazz's head is mounted on a piece of plastic extending from the roof/windshield piece, just like the Generation 1 toy. His articulation is limited to his shoulders, hips and knees, and has a missile launcher in place of his left hand.

: This toy was later redecoed into Sonic Shock Smokescreen.

: Cyber Slammers Jazz is an amazingly cute Pontiac Solstic that transforms into an amazingly cute Autobot hipster. 'Slam' his robot mode down into car mode and he rolls along, slowly transforming back up into robot mode. Like most Cyber Slammers, Jazz manages to cram most of his vehicle mode's major details into a compact, super-deformed version of that mode.

Robot Replicas
*Autobot Jazz (Robot Replica, 2007)

:As part of the Robot Replicas line, this version of Jazz is a non-transforming action figure that utilizes Revoltech-style jointing. The sculpt hews much closer to the movie CGI model than is possible with the full transforming toys, plus the universal jointing of the line allows for his forearm to be replaced with his gattling cannon, or parts from other Robot Replica figures. Jazz's shoulders are actually on the wrong sides of the toy.

Titanium Series
*Autobot Jazz (3" Robot Masters, 2007)

:Titanium Jazz is a die-cast metal and plastic figurine, with an accurate sculpt based on the slender CG model owing to the fact he doesn't need to transform. Being a figurine, he only has articulation in his shoulders, neck and waist. Jazz is sculpted with a small handgun that was only featured in concept art early in film developement that still showed Arcee as part of the main cast. Jazz comes with a Movie-style Autobot symbol display stand, as is expected.
Trivia
* The packaging text for the Deluxe Jazz figure refers to his weapon as a "telescoping sword". As ridiculous as this sounds considering this weapon looks like a firearm and can attach to his spoiler in vehicle mode as such, this very idea actually comes from concept drawings of a sword weapon featured on the same concept art that also had Jazz showcasing the short range blaster/shield thingy both featured in the film and included with his Final Battle retool. So, really... not that ridiculous anymore.
* In an earlier draft of the movie script, Megatron was supposed to "consume" the Sparks of Autobots he killed. A remainder of this can be found in the novelization and the IDW comic adaptation of the movie, which both explicitly state that Megatron tears out Jazz's Spark. In the movie itself, however, Megatron simply appears to kill Jazz by ripping him apart at the waist, even though Frenzy was previously able to survive as a detached head. However, a recent rejiggering of Frenzy's biology makes this a moot point.
* Though it is very brief, Jazz does indeed get a face close-up during the Mission City battle when he is shot by Megatron and falls over in pain, before he is ripped in half.
*The waist of the Deluxe Class Jazz toy consists of a simple hinge joint instead of a ball-joint, thus making it impossible to replicate his final moment in life.
*Deluxe Class Jazz is the only toy representing a character who actually appears in the movie at a scale larger than 1:100 that doesn't have a single ball-joint, or the equivalent thereof, anywhere above the robot-mode's waist.

:Arcee is an Autobot from the Movie continuity family.

Though small compared to many of her peers and adversaries, Arcee compensates with speed and aggressive maneuvers, making her one of the most dangerous Autobots around. Moreover, Arcee is a born hunter. She honed her speed hunting turbofoxes with other speedsters, challenging herself to get as close as possible before tagging them with her bow. She's a crack shot with said crossbow weapon, and Ironhide has trained her to use her speed to her advantage in battle, striking suddenly and swiftly and then vanishing away again as fast as she appeared.

Arcee believes without question that the Decepticons must be stopped at any cost.

Fiction
Arcee was one of a handful of Autobots under the command of Bumblebee who desperately fought against Megatron's vast army at Tyger Pax. She was captured and interrogated by the Decepticons but survived the ordeal. She recounted to their Autobot rescuers Bumblebee's heroics in delaying Megatron, preventing Megatron from intercepting the wormhole-bound All Spark.

Target Robovision Bio
Arcee was on Earth for a short time at the beginning of the conflict there, presumably arriving shortly after Bumblebee. When the situation on Earth began to ramp up into out-and-out combat, she was reassigned elsewhere, where her stealth skills would be of more use.

Now she fights in the Charii system against a Decepticon splinter cell working on a star-breaking weapon. If she has her way, the only things breaking will be their heads.

Titan Magazines
In a world where the Decepticons captured the All Spark and conquered Earth, Arcee was one of the six Autobot reinforcements hiding on the moon. Transformers Comic issue 9 When Starscream attacked them, the quick-thinking Arcee was the one who took command and rallied the troops. When this still failed to work, she ordered them to Earth (following Strongarm's initiative) and their prearranged targets. Transformers Comic issue 11

*Arcee (Target exclusive Scout Class, 2007)

: Arcee is a redeco of Energon Arcee, replacing her pinks and most of her whites and blacks with blue, and her translucent red with smoky brown plastic. She transforms into a "superbike"-type racing motorcycle. Unusually for a Transformer, she does not hold her weapon in her hands as most figures do. Instead, her Energon Bow mounts on a peg in her arms, with her hands being positioned to give the appearance of her using the bow. The bow itself is spring-loaded, firing a grey missile 'arrow'.

:Arcee (and the rest of the Scout wave) are exclusive to Target stores, where they are all part of a Robo-Vision promotion. Arcee comes with a Robo-Vision Decoder which allows you to see the Robo-Vision Code printed on her cardback. Starting June 2, 2007, Target's website allowed users to input those codes to access exclusive content, a concept similar to the online Cyber Planet Key info from the Transformers: Cybertron toyline. <!--Arcee's code is "BULLSEYE."-->

: This mold also was used to make Superlink Ariel Paradron Type, as well as 2005 Descent into Evil set's Chromia, Flamewar, Flareup, and the fellow Target-exclusive movieverse Elita-One.

Deluxe Class toys
**Acessories: Launcher, missile

: Deluxe Arcee transforms into a purple 2006 Buell Firebolt XB12R motorcycle, genericised to get around licensing issues. Arcee has references tampographed on her vehicle mode, such as her motorcycle's model name, "RC 1100", and her Massachusetts license plate marked TF7407, the original release date of the movie.

: Arcee's Automorphing feature is located in her crossbow weapon (formed out of the seat/storage area of the bike), activated when the projectile (the bike's tailpipe) is inserted, which pushes out the recurved lath parts on the sides of the weapon. The rectangular peg which is supposed to be used to attach her weapon to her forearm in robot mode is sometimes a poor fit, and the weapon may pop off. As an alternative, the round peg by which the weapon is attached in vehicle mode can also be used in robot mode, with a little rearranging of parts.

: Undocumented in the instructions, the two shoulder-mounted half-wheels contain a small niche on the edge of the tires, and by folding the wheels down with the hubcaps pointing towards the chest and by turning the tires towards the shoulders, one can feel the wheels gently click into place via the tire niches and hidden tabs in the shoulders, allowing the wheels to remain in place and more closely resemble the figure as pictured on its packaging.

: As with most larger Transformers toys that become motorcycles, Arcee has a kickstand on the left side of the bike; unfortunately it's mounted so low that she will fall in the opposite direction if it is fully extended.

:This Japanese redeco of Deluxe Class Arcee is cast in black in an attempt to match the look of the motorcycle Lennox rides near the end of the film. Surprisingly, it is not evil.

:Like all Japanese "Allspark Power" toys, black Arcee comes with a small Allspark cube accessory.
Trivia
* Arcee was originally going to be a member of the live-action movie's Autobot cast, but was later replaced by Ironhide. According to screenwriter Roberto Orci, they would have needed to explain the point behind female robots, which there wasn't any time for in the movie. In another interview, Alex Kurtzman cited "scale issues" as an additional reason for dropping Arcee; allegedly, Michael Bay simply considered her too small as compared to the rest of the Autobots. It's commonly assumed that Arcee's big part in the movie would have been the scene in which William Lennox starts his solo assault on Blackout using an abandoned motorcycle. However, the screenwriters rejected that notion, stating that this scene wasn't written until after Arcee had already been dropped from the scriptm-but if she had remained in the movie, that scene would have featured her as the motorcycle.
* As part of 2007's Hasbro tour, fans viewed "Robot Scale Chart v03", dated 11.22.05, which showed Arcee's height as 9' (2.7m). However, all of the designs on this chart were very early and later revised.
*Apparently, Arcee will have a different alternate mode than her current (2007) toy in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. It's either that or Elita One is actually going to arrive, possibly as a replacement for Jazz.
