'''Swerve''' is a menace to anyone driving nearby. He's easily distracted by just about anything that catches his attention. Despite this, he's quite intelligent and skilled as a metallurgist, analyzing the properties of a material with unique sensors in his hands. When he gets caught up in a scientific problem, he becomes almost laser-like in focus and intensity. Unfortunately, this generally leaves him just as distracted from any other tasks at hand and just as accident-prone a driver as ever. Swerve and "traffic accident" just go hand in hand. He's almost always in need of some repairs, major or minor, because of it.

Now if only [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Prime]] could get him to not get easily distracted when receiving his orders too...
Two Sweeps were created by Unicron from the fallen Decepticons [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]] and [[Kickback (G1)|Kickback]], though seconds later there were suddenly more of them.
{{note|One of the great continuity problems within the G1 animated series concerns the minions of Unicron. Namely, Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps. The issue stems from the original script never specifying which Decepticons were thrown off Astrotrain and remade into Galvatron’s followers essentially rendering them [[Generic| generics]]. As the third season episodes were most likely made using the script and not the as-yet-unfinished film, the Insecticons regularly reappeared in later episodes as well as later on in the movie itself. Much scuttlebutt has been made about who has been turned into whom, but ultimately, it falls on the viewer to decide who were the genuine article and who were Decepticons that simply looked like these characters.}}
[[Image:FFOD3 Sweeps.JPG|left|200px|thumb|A rare moment of not being shot by Galvatron.]]

After Galvatron's defeat at the hands of [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]], the Sweeps followed Scourge and [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] in their search for him. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1}} They eventually discovered him on the planet of [[Thrull]], only to be attacked by their crazed leader. Galvatron sent every single Sweep crashing into the planet's plasma pits, and the only one that fought back did no damage whatsoever to his leader. They all survived, though, and followed Galvatron's commands after he regained his senses (kind of). {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2}}

One of them got shot in the face by [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]], and promptly crashed into a storm on the surface of [[Jupiter]], screaming like a little girl all the way down. As this Sweep died an agonizing death, the last thing he likely heard was his own commander calling him a giant sissy. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3}} Next, Galvatron led the Sweeps to the planet [[Goo]] and ordered them to fire on all Decepticons who were following the [[Quintesson]]s instead of him. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4}} After Galvatron joined forces with the Quintessons, the Sweeps participated in an all-out attack on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Much later, three Sweeps hunted the Decepticon exile [[Octane]] alongside Scourge and Cyclonus, and cornered him in a [[Decepticon Crypt|crypt]] on Cybertron. A number of Sweeps later followed Galvatron when he was tricked by the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]] into releasing the dangerous [[Trans-Organic|Trans-Organics]] sealed beneath Cybertron's surface. They didn't fare too well against the monsters, and even worse against the one known as the "[[Dweller]]". {{note|The varying number of Sweeps is never explained in-fiction. Cyclonus, Scourge, and his Sweeps surrounded an [[Autobot shuttle]] during a surprise attack. On [[Gorlam Prime]], [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] tossed the dying [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] into a [[solar pool]] and using the power of the [[Darkness (G1)|Darkness]], brought him back to full strength. The pool, which also contained the remains of denizens from the [[Dead Universe]], reformatted the bodies into clones of Scourge, who would be their master. Galvatron was incensed that the Sweeps were not created in ''his'' image. In a universe where a [[zombie]] virus collectively called [[Undermind]] was attempting to spread to other universes, four portals opened that depicted scenes from four separate universes. Eventually, the ship crash-landed on Earth, where the infected Sweeps scattered through [[Las Vegas]]. {{storylink|The Transformers: Infestation issue 1|The Transformers: Infestation #1}}
After the zombie threat had been dealt with, Galvatron took his army with him to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], their first line of defense against D-Void. Noting that they were [[Slingshot (weapon)|armed]], he broke Galvatron's orders by engaging the Autobots, and was subsequently shot down by Wheelie. Under the command of Cyclonus, a large number of Sweeps invaded [[Kimia Facility]] in order to take control of it for Galvatron's use. Their numbers easily overwhelmed the Autobot defenders, and some of them were even seen ''eating'' their enemies. Meanwhile, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] arrived on Cybertron but refused to join Galvatron's army, and several Sweeps were sent to destroy him and his landing party. '''Roadbuster''' is a powerful and charismatic fighter. Usually armed to the teeth, he's an inspiration to other Autobots in combat and a natural leader on any battlefield. Outside of combat though, his natural ease and surety fail him. He simply doesn't know how to handle life out of combat. He becomes the quietest of the Autobots, grows withdrawn and depressed, and is easily bored. He counters this by spending most of his free time between battles either planning for the next one or "demolishing" any random Decepticons he can find. Some Autobots worry about what will become of the heroic and well-loved Roadbuster they know if the war ever ends. Combat truly is his life and without it, he might just fade away.

Roadbuster is a member of the elite [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] unit in, well, every universe he's been in.

''Roadbuster was a rather hardened soldier, deliberately feeding false information to an Autobot who had turned [[Autobot traitor|informant]] for the Decepticons, and stood by in the shadows while [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]] tortured the Autobot for the info and then executed him. Despite allowing this to happen, he still felt that even a traitor deserved better than that. Roadbuster took part in a training session with the rest of the Wreckers involving [[facsimile construct]]. The training session was in anticipation of [[Operation: Volcano]], an effort to assassinate some of the Decepticons' deadliest warriors. When [[Impactor]] decided that the Wreckers were going to bow out of Operation: Volcano, Roadbuster, [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]], and [[Twin Twist]] took some down-time at [[Maccadam's Old Oil House]]. Both Twin Twist and Roadbuster felt distinctly uneasy about Impactor's decision. When a Decepticon by the name of [[Fang]] started bullying [[Piano Transformer guy|one of the bar's patrons]], Roadbuster urged Twin Twist not to get involved. But Twin Twist trashed Fang anyway, coming to the realization that as Autobots, it was always their duty to stand in the Decepticons' way. Casting their doubts aside, Roadbuster, Whirl, and Twin Twist all decided to go ahead with Operation: Volcano. Likewise, Impactor was convinced by [[Emirate]] [[Xaaron]] to go through with the mission, despite his earlier doubts. Unfortunately, Volcano was a bust, leaving Impactor dead and [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] the new leader of the Wreckers.'' {{storylink|Target: 2006}}

''Roadbuster was strangely absent from the Wreckers for awhile, but returned to take part in the so-called Time Wars. The Wreckers were forced to temporarily ally with the [[Mayhem Attack Squad]] in order to combat the combined threat of [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]. The mission to eliminate the two powerful Decepticon leaders was a complete disaster, with most of the Wreckers and Mayhems meeting violent ends. For Roadbuster's part, he managed to blow off a chunk of Galvatron's face with an experimental Decepticon [[Pathblaster]] weapon. However, as Roadbuster took the time to celebrate his shot, the weapon's power core exploded, killing him.'' {{storylink|Time Wars (issue)|Time Wars}}
''In the year 2510, Roadbuster joined the Wreckers on Cybertron's northern front, where they finally exterminated the last Decepticon outpost, bringing the war to an end. Later on, [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] called an official end to the war effort, and announced his plans to pass the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] on to Springer. The Decepticons were not totally gone, however—a deep cover agent named [[Triton]] lived on inside the Autobot ranks. In order to stir up discord, Triton challenged Prime's decision, declaring that [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] was a better choice to carry the Matrix. Whirl manhandled the little creep to make him pipe down, but Triton punched the Wrecker to the ground. Roadbuster raised his gun in anger, but it was the [[Technobot (G1)|Technobot]] [[Scattershot (G1)|Scattershot]] who fired first in defense of Triton and Magnus's reputation, blowing up Roadbuster's head. This disastrous turn of events led to a new Autobot Civil War between the forces of Ultra Magnus and Springer.'' {{storylink|Peace}}

====Marvel books====
Roadbuster was stationed on [[Earth]]. The Autobots' initially failed to stop a new plan of Megatron's to take millions of people hostage, but came back to fight again once they were repaired. Roadbuster blasted a hole in the Decepticons' fortress's wall so the Autobots could get inside. {{storylink|Battle for Earth}}
When [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and Megatron went missing in a [[space bridge]] accident, Roadbuster was part of an elite force of Autobots known as the Wreckers who broke off as an independent faction, led by Springer. Much of their efforts were concentrated on keeping [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]'s [[Ultracon|Ultracons]] contained inside [[Polyhex]] and away from the [[Tagan Heights]], an area which contributed to a full 40% of Cybertron's manufacturing potential. They ran into more than a few [[Devastator (G1)|difficulties]] with that defense protocol. {{storylink|War Within: The Dark Ages}}

Much later Roadbuster, critically low on energy, was ambushed by a group of Decepticon [[Micromaster|Micromasters]] and defeated by them. A group of Autobot Micromasters led by [[Big Daddy (G1)|Big Daddy]] intervened and managed to pull Roadbuster's inert chassis out of there, sparing him the indignity of having what little [[Energon (fuel)|Energon]] that remained in his system drained. {{storylink|Destined for Nothing|Destined For Nothing}}

During [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]'s rule of Cybertron, Roadbuster was a member of the new Wreckers, a small unit of Autobots under Ultra Magnus's command, dedicated to keeping the peace wherever (and however) necessary. When [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] released the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]] from their imprisonment in Cybertron's [[Detention Banks]], the Wreckers were sent in to deal with the escapees. Unfortunately, both Roadbuster and [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] were crushed before Magnus brought the Stunticon combined form, [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]], down. {{storylink|Passive Aggression}}
===IDW comics continuity===
Before the war, Roadbuster was a member of the [[Kaon]] security services. However, while he attended mission briefings he seemed mysteriously absent from funerals and actual battles. {{storylink|Megatron Origin issue 1|Megatron Origin issue #1}}

According to official paperwork, Roadbuster and the Wreckers embarked on a hunt for [[Squadron X]], a Decepticon battle unit known for the atrocities it left in its wake. The hunt culminated in a battle between the two groups on [[Pova]]. A desperate surprise tactic by Springer and Impactor, along with support from Roadbuster and [[Rack'n'Ruin]], turned the tide in the Wreckers' favor and Squadron X was defeated. However, as the Wreckers were prepping them for transport and imprisonment, Squadron X managed to escape. Impactor would not allow this, and a second battle with them ended in the deaths of every single member of Squadron X. However, this particular version of events was a cover story. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4|Last Stand of the Wreckers #4}}

What had ''actually'' occurred on Pova was that the Wreckers were going to be forced to release the captive Squadron X, as they were violating a neutrality agreement with the Povians by fighting there. Not willing to go along with this, Impactor locked himself in a room with the bound and helpless Decepticons and personally executed them all. Roadbuster and the other Wreckers, save Springer, made no move to stop him. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 5|Last Stand of the Wreckers #5}}

[[Image:Stormbringer2 Roadbuster.jpg|left|150px|thumb|[[Jero|Human sacrifice,]] [[K-9|dogs]] [[Ravage (G1)|and cats]] [[Pax Cybertronia|living together...]] [[Kelly (RID)|mass hysteria]]!]]
Many stellar cycles later, Roadbuster used his considerable armament against the Decepticons holed up in their [[Infiltration protocol|siege mode]] armature on the world of [[Varas Centralus]] in the [[Kol]] system. During the battle he handed Springer a comm-unit with an urgent call from Operations Command: orders from Optimus Prime himself redeploying the Wreckers to Cybertron. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 2|Stormbringer #2}}

After the Wreckers arrived on Cybertron, Roadbuster saved [[Nosecone (G1)|Nosecone]] and [[Afterburner (G1)|Afterburner]] from a group of [[Centurion droid|Centurion droids]], before having [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] evacuate the two unconscious [[Technobot (G1)|Technobots]] out of the area. After the Wreckers blasted their way into [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s base and very, very, very quickly defeated the cultists, Roadbuster and Whirl rescued [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] from where he and the other Technobots were being recycled into raw materials. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 3|Stormbringer #3}} After [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] returned to Cybertron, Roadbuster, [[Scoop (G1)|Scoop]] and [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]] served as advanced scouts, watching the giant [[Pretender]]'s activity. They legged it when Thunderwing unleashed a wave of destruction in memory of his failed attempts to convince Megatron and the scientific community of Cybertron to support his experimentation. As the battle was joined, Roadbuster's group tried to get Thunderwing's attention, but were blown away by a thunderous clap of his giant hands. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 4|Stormbringer #4}}

[[Image:Roadbustertotherescue.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Why worry? Each one of us is carrying an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back.]]
Much later, the Wreckers were called in by [[Hound (G1)|Hound]]'s unit to fight Thunderwing on [[Corata-Vaz]]. Roadbuster was part of the vehicle mode ground assault, but all the Autobot combatants were blown away by the monster's ionic discharge. {{storylink|Spotlight: Hardhead}} Thunderwing eventually assumed his powered-up [[Super Mode|Ultra Mode]], and Roadbuster poured hundreds of rounds into the being's left flank before Jetfire came up with an idea to take control of Thunderwing. {{storylink|Spotlight: Doubledealer}}

Jetfire managed to gain remote control using Bludgeon's old axis cradle trick, and the Wreckers slipped past to disable the [[Nega-Core]] that Thunderwing had been guarding. Jetfire eventually lost control and Thunderwing turned back to advance on Roadbuster and the others as they futilely poured firepower into the massive Pretender. {{storylink|Spotlight: Sideswipe}}

Some time later, more than half of the Wreckers were captured and imprisoned by the Decepticon commander [[Turmoil]] and his crew. The recently rehabilitated [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] led a rescue team that included Roadbuster to infiltrate Turmoil's ship. There, they ran into [[Drift (G1)| Drift]], who was also trying to rescue the captured Wreckers. Roadbuster and the others managed to rescue their comrades and Kup formally offered Drift a spot on a new unit he was planning to form. {{storylink|Spotlight: Drift}}

Subsequently, Roadbuster appeared as part of the crew of the starship [[Trion]], under Kup's command. Receiving a distress call from [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]], Kup's team went to rescue him. They found Hot Rod being menaced by Bludgeon and the [[Pretender Monster|Monstructor Six]]. Bludgeon quickly commanded the team to merge into [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]] and the [[combiner|gestalt]] easily brushed Roadbuster aside, knocking off his shoulder cannon. But Monstructor was soon thereafter defeated when [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] demonstrated his newly-honed sniping skills. Bludgeon opted to retreat in his ship and the crew of the Trion, now joined by Hot Rod, went in pursuit of the fleeing Decepticons. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 15}}

[[Image:Slowmotionmoviewalkahm5.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Let's show this prehistoric bitch how we do things downtown.]]

The Trion was eventually lured into an enemy ambush, and had its defenses disabled due to its command codes having been gleaned from an Autobot traitor. Forced to crash-land, Roadbuster was stranded with the remainder of the ship's crew on the surface of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], using their former ship as a base of operations. They eventually met up with the demoralized crew of the incapacitated Optimus Prime. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 5}}

After the Trion's crew had settled in, [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and Roadbuster had a little chat outside, where Roadbuster revealed how frustrated he was that they had been taken down by the Decepticons without even a chance to shoot back. Noting Roadbuster's eagerness for a fight, Ironhide began to tell him something, but caught sight of a strange creature in the distance. It turned out to be an advance scout of the [[Insecticon swarm]], and Roadbuster immediately notified Kup of its presence. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 6}}

The Autobots soon relocated their base-camp, and in his vehicle mode, Roadbuster served as a mobile command platform for Kup to ride on and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] to snipe from as they traveled. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 7}}

[[Image:Roadbuster_Loves_Guns.jpg|right|250px|thumb|You're not ''sleeping'' with it, are you Ray?]]

After Optimus Prime was repaired and the Autobots prepared to make their final stand against the Insecticon swarm, [[Wheeljack (G1)| Wheeljack]] removed and modified one of the Trion's cannons to be used as a mounted turret for Roadbuster to fire. Roadbuster was quite enamored with the weapon and wanted to give it a name. When the swarm attacked, Roadbuster managed to destroy quite a few of them with his new cannon. But eventually he was forced to shove the cannon off its mount to crush a few of the Insecticon horde as they scaled the walls of the Autobots' temporary fortress. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 10}}

After the Autobots returned to Earth aboard [[Omega Supreme (G1)| Omega Supreme]], Roadbuster jumped into battle alongside his comrades against the Decepticons. He grappled with [[Astrotrain (G1)| Astrotrain]] and overpowered him, disappointed that the Decepticon turned out to be a "lightweight". Roadbuster was then blasted away by Megatron. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 11}} He survived though, and stood victorious behind Optimus Prime and the others as the Decepticons retreated. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 12}}

At some unspecified point, an event known only as "the Roadbuster affair" occurred. It's one of [[Ironfist (G1)|Ironfist]]'s favorite subjects in the entire history of the Wreckers. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 1|Last Stand of the Wreckers #1}}

At some point following Megatron's defeat, Roadbuster became deeply involved in something called the [[Sparkeater]], and was unavailable when Springer started to reform the Wreckers. {{storylink|Bullets}}

Two years later, he was on Earth when Optimus Prime chose to surrender to [[Skywatch]]. Hot Rod and some like-minded individuals broke off from the main Autobot force to find a way off the planet. Roadbuster chose to stay behind with the remaining Autobots, who elected [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] as their new leader. {{storylink|The Impossible Knot}}

Alongside most of the Autobots, Roadbuster later returned to Cybertron to fight [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]'s army. He was part of an early landing party, but wasn't among those who accompanied Optimus Prime as he confronted Galvatron. {{storylink|Chaos Part One: Lamentations}}
It's possible that this was a typo in the style of [[Blitzwing (G1)#Notes|Blitzwing]], and that Roadbuster was instead supposed to be a Ground Assault ''Commando'', but Roadbuster's rank of eight is closer to the "commander" range than Blitzwing's rank of six. [[Personal canon|You be the judge]].

*The ''[[Transformers Generations]]'' guidebook [[Engrish|mistakenly]] spelled Roadbuster's name as "Roadbaster". This would seem to imply that the cannon on his shoulder is loaded with piping hot giblet gravy.

* Poor Roadbuster never got a printed ''[[Transformers Universe (Marvel comic)|Transformers Universe]]'' bio. One was written though, and finally revealed to the fans on [http://boltax.blogspot.com/2011/01/extended-bio-whirl.html ''Disciples of Boltax''] in 2010.
'''Nosecone'''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s natural slowness of thought and action is often taken for laziness, but this is a misperception. Nosecone is a perfectionist, valuing precision over speed, and will take whatever time is needed to complete his objective as completely and competently as possible. His results speak for themselves—he's not the quickest bot on the block, but he'll do the job right.

He can combine with the other Technobots to form [[Computron (G1)|Computron]].

===Marvel Comics continuity===
{{noteukonly}}
Nosecone was part of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]' group of Autobots on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. When Fortress Maximus decided to leave the war and head to [[Nebulos]], Nosecone and the other Technobots agreed to follow him on his quest for peace. {{storylink|Ring of Hate!}} However, the Decepticons followed the Autobots to Nebulos and brought the war with them. {{storylink|Broken Glass!}}

In the Nebulos resort city of [[Splendora]], Nosecone and the Technobots fought [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]] as the combined [[Computron (G1)|Computron]]. Though Abominus was defeated and routed, Splendora lay in ruins. {{storylink|Love and Steel!}} The Autobots and Decepticons ultimately left Nebulos for [[Earth]].

After [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] was empowered by his short exposure to the [[Underbase]], he obliterated all of the Technobots, including Nosecone, in [[Buenos Aires]]. {{storylink|Dark Star (issue)|Dark Star}}

====Marvel UK future timelines====
''When [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] responded to a garbled distress signal on Cybertron, he brought back-up in the form of [[Eject]], Nosecone and the rest of the Technobots. Surprisingly enough, the Autobots found themselves fighting alongside their Decepticon nemeses against the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]]. {{storylink|Space Pirates!}}''

''In an alternate future of 2510, the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons concluded, and an Autobot Civil War began. During a heated discussion over whether Ultra Magnus or [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] should succeed [[Rodimus Prime (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] as Autobot leader now that he was stepping down, the Autobots came to blows and rashly opened fire, leading to several deaths. Nosecone and the Technobots joined up with Ultra Magnus against Springer and his [[Wrecker|Wreckers]], and so new battle lines were drawn. {{storylink|Peace}}''

Nosecone was the first of the Technobots to be created by the temporarily super-intelligent [[Grimlock (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Grimlock]]. He was built using parts from within [[Unicron]]'s head, specifically for the purpose of tunneling through the reinforced walls within the chaos-bringer. {{storylink|Grimlock's New Brain}}

Less than a week later, he and the other Technobots were sent to [[Earth]] to learn how to interact with [[Human|humans]], taught by [[Marissa Faireborn]]. While there, they encountered the unscrupulous trader [[Dirk Manus]] and his allies, the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]] and [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]]. The Technobots defeated [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]] with the help of Manus. {{storylink|Money Is Everything}}

The Technobots responded to the Terrorcon attack on [[Mark Morgan]]'s laboratory. Combining into Computron, they fought Abominus, but the battle inadvertently injured Morgan's [[Jessica Morgan|daughter]], leading the scientist and his friend [[Gregory Swofford]] to infect the Autobots with the [[Hate Plague]]. {{storylink|The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1}} Months later, the Technobots were present for the attack on Autobot City where the Decepticons stole the key to the [[Plasma energy|plasma energy chamber]]. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

====''The Headmasters'' cartoon====
In 2011, Galvatron staged a major attack on Cybertron. Nosecone and the Technobots joined the Dinobots on the front lines of defense. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}} As [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Hot Rod]] began his search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]] on Earth, [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]] gathered Nosecone and the Technobots to prevent the Decepticons from hampering his quest. When Hot Rod finally located the Matrix, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] confronted him with the Decepticon [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]]s and Terrorcons, but the Technobots arrived to help even the odds. Scattershot ordered them to form Computron, and the mighty giant occupied the Decepticons so that Hot Rod could make a break for the [[Space Bridge]]. {{storylink|Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime}}

Later, Galvatron launched [[Metamorphose]], a metal-twisting meteorite, and the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbot]]s were its first victims. Nosecone and the Technobots were sent out to recover their damaged comrades for repairs, but they were intercepted by the Terrorcons. The fighting escalated with new arrivals on both sides, as the Decepticons tried to keep their foes occupied until the meteorite reached [[Athenia]], destroying the Autobots completely. The [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Battleship Maximus]] eventually arrived to carry the Headmasters into space to confront the meteorite, and so Nosecone and the Technobots formed Computron and covered their retreat. {{storylink|Approach of the Demon Meteorite}}

When [[buridanka|a giant carnivorous plant]] took root in [[San Francisco]], Ultra Magnus sent Nosecone and the Technobots to deal with the incident. The plant proved to be extraordinarily resilient, however, and it was also guarded by the Decepticons. The Technobots were distracted by combat with the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]], first as individuals and later combined as Computron and [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]]. {{storylink|Head On!! Fortress Maximus}} After the Trainbots ran into trouble on [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], Nosecone and his team were on the way to help when [[Sixshot]] and [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] intervened. The Earthbound Decepticons succeeded in occupying the Technobots so that they couldn't make it to Mars. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger}}

Nosecone and the Technobots were part of a strike team that flew to the [[Moon (moon)|moon]] to disrupt Scorponok's gathering of Decepticons. They immediately formed Computron upon entering the battle. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} Nosecone's regiment later helped load the Trainbots with energon supplies for the destitute planet [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]]. They were attacked by the greedy Decepticons and fought back both as the mighty Computron and as individuals, using the Trainbots' large vehicle modes as a shield. {{storylink|SOS from Planet Sandra}}

The Technobots accompanied Fortress on his quest to prevent the Decepticons from stealing energy elsewhere in the galaxy. During this extended mission, Nosecone and his teammates formed Computron to battle [[Predaking]] on the planet [[Paradise]]. {{storylink|Head Formation of Friendship}}

After returning to Earth, Nosecone and the Technobots reassociated with Ultra Magnus at Autobot City on Earth. They were sent to [[Miami]] to counter a Decepticon attack, and battled Abominus as Computron. Unfortunately, the attack was a ruse to draw them away from Autobot City, and they were unable to stop [[Sixshot]]'s assassination of Ultra Magnus. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus Dies!!}} The Decepticon attacks continued even after Magnus's death, as Sixshot launched five separate strikes at once around the world. Nosecone and the Technobots were dispatched as Computron to one of the many battle sites. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}} When the Decepticons seemingly abandoned Earth, Nosecone and the Technobots assisted Spike in rebuilding the planet after the enemy's departure. On one occasion, they located Sixshot's old command base. By combining into Computron, the Technobots helped Defensor and Raiden obliterate the base, wiping out all trace of the Decepticons' presence. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)}}

As part of Computron, Nosecone participated in the Autobots final battle with Scorponok's Decepticons at the North Pole. He lent his energies to the Headmasters' [[Head Formation]] to revitalize Fortress Maximus at the critical moment. {{storylink|The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)}}
[[Image:Stormbringer2 Nosecone Afterburner.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Nosecone will always walk you home after a long night of Energon exposure.]]
Nosecone and the other Technobots crewed the Autobot vessel ''[[Calabi-Yau]]'', under the command of [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]]. After landing on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], [[Scattershot (G1)|Scattershot]], [[Lightspeed (G1 Technobot)|Lightspeed]] and [[Strafe (G1)|Strafe]] accompanied Jetfire on a reconnaissance mission and were captured by [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s group of [[Decepticon|Decepticons]]. Nosecone and [[Afterburner (G1)|Afterburner]], having taken the ''Calabi-Yau'' back into orbit, were fired on by missiles, barely getting off an SOS. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 1|Stormbringer #1}}

The two crash-landed back on Cybertron after escaping the doomed ship in an emergency pod. As if the toxic environment of the planet wasn't enough, they were attacked almost immediately by [[Centurion droid|Centurion droids]]. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 2|Stormbringer #2}}

With Afterburner knocked out, Nosecone survived just long enough to see the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] charge in to the rescue. He was evacuated by [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] to a safer location, and then revived by [[Topspin (G1)|Topspin]]. The clearly still-hurting Nosecone wanted to accompany the Wreckers as they invaded Bludgeon's base to rescue the others, but was told by Topspin to "leave it to the professionals". {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 3|Stormbringer #3}}

After Jetfire's team finished their study of Bludgeon's base and left Cybertron, they arrived in the [[Muta-Gaath Nebula]] on the ''[[Ark-27]]'s'' to assist in the recovery of [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]] and to incarcerate [[Pretender Monster|six Transformers]] capable of [[Combiner|combining]] with each other to form a [[Monstructor (G1)|single robot]]. Nosecone oversaw the transportation of the prisoners onto their ship. {{storylink|Spotlight: Optimus Prime}}

Later, he was with the Technobots helping Jetfire try to reverse the debilitating effects of [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]]'s gestalt technology on [[Garrus-9]]'s newest inmates. During the subsequent attack by the [[Decepticon Secret Police]] in an attempt to kidnap the gestalt members, Nosecone and the other Technobots were disabled by the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]]. {{storylink|Spotlight: Arcee}}

Years later, Nosecone was stationed at [[Kimia Facility]] when [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] and the [[Sweep]]s attacked and massacred the Autobots there. He met with an especially horrible fate as the Sweeps ripped him apart ''with their teeth''. {{storylink|Chaos Part One: Lamentations}}
'''Grotusque''' laughs at life and everything in it. Why shouldn't he when nothing out there could ever be as frightening as his own reflection in the mirror? Still, Grotusque gamely laughs off even his own hideous appearance and alternate mode with a joke about [[Primus]] having had a little '''too''' much high-grade [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] that day.

He's jovial, upbeat, and irreverent by nature despite his frightening exterior. To the frequent amusement (and sometimes annoyance) of his comrades, Grotusque can be counted on to fill the air with laughter and lighthearted jokes in even the darkest or least appropriate of situations. To their dismay he's simply incapable of taking ''anything'' totally seriously. Yet they have little other reason to complain, even if there are rumors he was once on the other side of the war; Grotusque's courage is legendary and he's a top-notch fighter. He's also quite brilliant at his function as strategist, with a sharp and analytical mind that's perfect for planning masterful campaigns (and witty quips). Fighting is fun, in Grotusque's opinion, or he simply wouldn't do it, and, in the end, death is as much a joke as life, so smile and laugh a little, and enjoy yourself while you're here.
Grotusque and the Monsterbots joined [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] in abandoning [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], hoping to find a new life for themselves on the planet of [[Nebulos]]. Grotusque's flight abilities proved handy as the Autobots awkwardly made their way down to the surface from their orbiting ship; he arrived with a fellow Autobot hitching a ride by hanging on to his tail, noting as he did that the organic planet before them looked quite strange. {{storylink|Ring of Hate!}}

[[Image:Brothersinarmor-monsterbots2.jpg|left|150px|thumb|]]
Conflicts with the locals made the Autobots' lives on Nebulos difficult, and those conflicts were only exacerbated by the Decepticons' arrival and subsequent [[binary bonding]] with a deceitful group of local Nebulans, including the pairing of Decepticon leader [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] with high-ranking official Lord [[Zarak (G1)|Zarak]]. Zarak turned the Nebulan people against the Autobots, portraying the Decepticons as public heroes even as they raided Nebulos's resources to serve the lust for power of both Zarak and Scorponok. When the Decepticons attempted to take control of the [[Mercury Gardens of Melanossus]], the Monsterbots and several comrades attempted to stop them. They failed—not only did the Decepticon [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] kill every Autobot but the escaping Monsterbots, they also successfully proclaimed their heroism to the media for driving off the Autobot "attackers". {{storylink|Brothers in Armor!!}}
Grotusque is part of the mercenary Monsterbots team, who do violent work not for fun but for money (and also fun). The Monsterbots were called in to assist [[Grimlock (G1)| Grimlock]], who was having [[Machination]] problems. {{storylink|Maximum Dinobots issue 2|Maximum Dinobots #2}} Grotusque helped by ''eating [[Sunstreaker clone| Headmasters]], god damn''. {{storylink|Maximum Dinobots issue 3|Maximum Dinobots #3}}

After the initial bout of Headmaster slaughter, the Monsterbots agreed to drop the [[Dinobot (G1)| Dynobots]] off at Machination headquarters for a final reckoning. Aboard their ship, Grotusque and Doublecross observed quietly (and slightly menacingly) as Repugnus negotiated a fee with Grimlock. The Monsterbots dropped the Dynobots off at their destination, while taking some anti-air fire. Luckily, the Monsterbots' ship was well-armed and they were able to easily destroy all ground defenses with a blanket dispersal of firepower. {{storylink|Maximum Dinobots issue 4|Maximum Dinobots #4}}

Their agreement with the Dynobots called for evac as well, and [[Slag (G1)| Slag]], [[Snarl (G1)|Snarl]], and [[Swoop (G1)|Swoop]] eventually showed up to be pulled out. Repugnus even offered up membership in the Monsterbots to the trio. But the three Dynobots eventually decided that they would stay behind to fight after all. The Monsterbots presumably left the planet shortly thereafter. {{storylink|Maximum Dinobots issue 5|Maximum Dinobots #5}}
A few years later, Grotusque had apparently rejoined the Autobot cause. Together with [[Cloudburst]], he was performing a routine security inspection of [[Kimia Facility]] when [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] blasted straight through said security with a huge number of [[Sweep]]s in tow. Grotusque and Cloudburst rushed to Kimia's armories only to find them already infested with Sweeps, and were ultimately killed in the battle for the facility. {{storylink|Chaos Part One: Lamentations}}
Leaving the beast hindquarters partially unconnected to the forequarters (as was done in his original catalog photo) allows Grotusque a more "normal" posture.

==Fiction==
===IDW comics continuity===
Garnak and his boss [[Codder]] were both from a "collective", from which they were sold to an [[Ilxian]] ship where Garnak worked as a custodian. At some point, the ship crashed on planet [[LV-118]], killing everyone on board other than him, Codder, and an Ilxian scientist. The Ilxian developed quite an ego, calling himself "[[Admiral]]" and ordering Garnak and Codder around during his attempts to repair the ship, but since he ''was'' earnestly trying to get them off the planet, the two listened to him.

After being stuck on the planet for a long time, Garnak and Codder discovered the [[Autobot]] [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus]] when he too crashed in the vicinity, and found him similar to the weird "[[Wheelie (G1)|Jangle Man]]" who lived on LV-118. Though Garnak wanted to show him to the Jangle Man, Codder thought it better to take him to the Admiral. The Admiral tried to use Rodimus's [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] to power the ship, but he resisted and fled, prompting Garnak and Codder to try to recapture him. Garnak followed him to the Jangle Man's wrecked ship, where he was knocked out by the Jangle Man himself and interrogated by Rodimus. After telling Rodimus about how he got there and what he knew about Wheelie, Garnak agreed to be a part of his plan to steal the Admiral's ship. Returning to the Admiral with Rodimus, Garnak tricked him and Codder into coming outside, where Wheelie called on a [[Chaosteros]] to attack them. While his old companions were fighting off the beast, Garnak boarded their ship with the two Autobots and left the planet. {{storylink|Space Opera Part 1: The Stars My Destination}}

Wheelie steered the ship to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], where after greeting a newly awoken and confused Rodimus, Garnak noted that the Matrix had stopped powering their ship. When the ship was then suddenly broken into, Rodimus sent him to get weapons,
and he soon returned and attacked the intruder... who turned out to be [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]], another Autobot.
As the Autobot weapons supervisor, '''Crosshairs''' oversees the procurement and maintenance of a dizzying arsenal of implements of death for his fellow Autobots. Long association with such machinery has made him meticulous and careful, possibly to a fault. Crosshairs will often refuse to fire his own weapon unless he's certain it won't miss.

Crosshairs enjoys a good relationship with his equally methodical Targetmaster partner [[Pinpointer (G1)|Pinpointer]], who is content to let Crosshairs call the shots.

==Fiction==
===Marvel Comics continuity===
Crosshairs was Weapons Supervisor in his hometown on Cybertron; he had a long career of acquiring and maintaining his comrades' arsenal of boom sticks. He found the role disturbing, however, as he saw more and more casualties as a result of his work. {{storylink|Transformers Universe (Marvel comic)|Crosshairs's ''Universe'' profile}} Eventually, Scorponok's Decepticons came along and blew the place up and took everybody captive. Crosshairs was being shuffled off toward a messy end in the [[smelting pool]]s when an attack by [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] and company saved him.

Crosshairs quickly joined Maximus's band, and he was among the first to agree when Maximus decided to quit the war and seek peace on Nebulos.

However, when stuff exploded on Nebulos, Fortress Maximus was all "Waah, I'm on fire, where did our guns go?" and Crosshairs was pressed back into service as the Autobots' armorer. {{storylink|Ring of Hate!}}

When the Autobots' Nebulan allies feared that the Decepticons were planning to attack [[The Nursery]], Crosshairs didn't care: he had already given away his gun to make peace with the Nebulans, so it's not like he could do anything about it. Instead, he suggested leaving Nebulos and traveling to [[Earth]], but was voted down and forced to go save The Nursery with the other Targetmasters. Unfortunately, the ensuing battle just ended up destroying the place, so the Autobots retreated. {{storylink|Brothers in Armor!!}}

Crosshairs eventually ended up on Earth like he wanted, where he participated in a failed attack on the Decepticons' [[Club Con|island headquarters]]. {{storylink|The Desert Island of Space!}} He later watched [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] and [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]] fight it out over Autobot leadership on the [[Moon (moon)|moon]], but the duel was interrupted by a full-scale Decepticon assault on everyone present. {{storylink|Totaled!}}

When [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] took control of the [[Matrix of Leadership|Creation Matrix]], he blasted Crosshairs. [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] later mentioned that three Autobots were deactivated by Thunderwing, and since Crosshairs was never seen again, it's possible he was one of the casualties. {{storylink|All Fall Down (issue)|All Fall Down}}

====Earthforce====
{{earthforcefiction}}
''Crosshairs was among the "new age" Autobots who attended [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]]'s meeting with [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]] and the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] about their more brutal methods. When Grimlock threatened to quit the Autobots, Prime seemed all too willing to let him, and the two of them actually came to blows. After beating some sense into each other, however, Optimus Prime agreed to allow Grimlock his autonomy, to lead "Earthforce" while he and the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'s crew took off for space. {{storylink|Break-Away!}}''
Crosshairs does quite the Ronald Reagan impression. Or maybe Jack Nicholson. He is very concerned with "the hubbub".

Crosshairs was among the group that pursued [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] into [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]'s depths and into the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]]. The group's shuttle was subsequently blasted across the cosmos, crash-landing on [[Nebulos]]. They were captured by the natives, and only released when the Decepticons attacked. While several of his teammates were knocked out and captured in the subsequent battle, the completely undamaged Crosshairs just ''stood there'' while [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]] grabbed him and flew off with him.

Seriously, he didn't even ''try'' to get away. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}
:''Voice actor:'' [[Hōchū Ōtsuka]] (Japanese)

Crosshairs was one of the top two lieutenants of [[Pointblank]], a famed Autobot sub-commander of fantastic skill. They arrived on Earth shortly after the final defeat of [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] to join forces with [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]] and his men. Fortress was in the midst of dealing with some planetary-level explosives left behind by the Decepticons, and so Crosshairs and his comrades went with Fortress aboard the Battleship Maximus to dispose of the bombs. Out in space, they had just reached a safe distance from Earth when they passed a refugee ship being attacked by the Decepticons. Crosshairs, Pointblank and [[Sureshot (G1)|Sureshot]] went out onto the surface of the battleship to engage the enemy long enough for the refugees to get inside. The battle continued to rage outside until the refugees attempted to return the kind favor by removing the bombs to a safe distance themselves. The Decepticon sub-commander [[Slugslinger (G1)|Slugslinger]] flew out after them, and Crosshairs joined his comrades in pursuing them, right up until the plasma bombs exploded, bathing Autobot and Decepticon alike with tremendous energies. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)}}

The [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]]s recovered the unconscious Crosshairs and his friends from space. Miraculously, the three Autobots had not only survived the explosion, each of them had also been fused to one of the Master refugees in a kind of symbiotic combination. The smaller Master robot known as Pinpointer could now transform into a powerful weapon and affix himself to Crosshairs' hand, creating a Targetmaster. Pointblank and his men seemed cocky before, but their newfound power made them almost unbearable. Crosshairs and Sureshot had to get between Pointblank and the Headmasters when their leader simply would not shut up about how awesome he was. After the Autobots arrived on Master, [[Apeface]] and [[Snapdragon (G1)|Snapdragon]] were triple-teamed by the new Targetmasters. Perhaps not considering the [[Horrorcon]]s worthy of their new powers, Crosshairs and the Targetmasters spent the whole battle unarmed and in vehicle mode, and still royally smacked the chips out of the two Decepticons. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2)}}

Crosshairs continued to serve on Master with Pointblank and Fortress. He and his fellow Targetmasters were involved in the battle for data on the [[Master Sword]]. {{storylink|The Master Sword Is in Danger!!}} While in orbit around Master in the Battleship Maximus, the Targetmasters spot [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]] spying on them, and chase him and [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundblaster]] back to the planet's surface. Their pursuit was interrupted by the arrival of the Decepticon Targetmasters, who tried to eliminate the Autobots by blasting open a natural reservoir, washing Crosshairs and his friends away in a massive wave. The Targetmasters survived, however, and located the Decepticons' secret cavern base. They sent out their small partners to covertly investigate the base, but the loud and bolsterous arrival of [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] and the Headmasters made stealth impossible, and so a battle was joined. {{storylink|The Zarak Shield Turns the Tide}}
In the modern day, Crosshairs was stationed out of the [[Autobot Orbital Command Hub]] and was seen acting as navigator for the crew of the ''[[Ark-27]]''. They transported Optimus Prime into battle with [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] on Cybertron {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 2|Stormbringer #2}} and later brought him to Earth to follow up a lead on the Decepticons' resurrection and to investigate the why the Decepticon [[infiltration protocol|Infiltration unit]] there had assumed Siege Mode. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 4|Stormbringer #4}}
Later, Crosshairs was with the rest of the ''Ark 27's'' crew as they worked to recover the heavily-damaged [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]] after his battle with [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]]. {{storylink|Spotlight: Optimus Prime}} He was present on the Orbital Command Hub when [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] announced his return to the airwaves, and was one of the trusted Autobots [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]] chose to help him apprehend the mind-controlled [[Beachcomber (G1)|Beachcomber]], who was programmed by [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] to kill Blaster. {{storylink|Spotlight: Blaster}}
Crosshairs also spent time as a weapons designer at the [[Kimia Facility]]. * Along with many other ''Generation 1'' characters, Crosshairs' animation model appeared as a generic Autobot in the [[Armada (cartoon)|''Transformers Armada'']] cartoon. Specifically, it's his Japanese model from ''The Headmasters'' cartoon.
* Crosshairs' voice in the American cartoon seems to be an impersonation of [[President of the United States|Ronald Reagan]].
:''Brainstorm is an [[Autobot]] [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] from the [[Generation 1 continuity family]].''

[[Image:Brainstormg1.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Hey, we just met. Want to be my head?]]
'''Brainstorm''' believes that all of society's problems can be resolved so long as ideas can be developed free of outside constraints. This is understandable, as Brainstorm is a never-ending font of ideas. Even when he isn't consciously working on one of his projects or even when he's in the middle of a fight, new ideas are the background noise of his mind. Brainstorm thinks so much, he sometimes causes his brain to overheat. He looks forward to a time when military demands no longer frame his creative output.

Brainstorm is at least partly responsible for developing the [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] process. It's sometimes hard to tell how much of it was his doing and how much was his Headmaster partner [[Arcana]]'s, the two work together so seamlessly.

{{note|Brainstorm was quite different in Japan's [[The Headmasters (cartoon)|''The Headmasters'' animated series]]. See below for details.}}

==Fiction==
===Marvel Comics continuity===
{{noteukonly}}
[[Image:Brainstormtrialbyfire.jpg|left|250px|thumb|He's green, dammit! Green!]]
After [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]] and his troops aboard the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] went missing, Brainstorm was one of several under the leadership of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]. Their faction was mired in a seemingly endless war with a band of [[Decepticon]]s led by [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]], in a struggle so pointless and self-perpetuating that Fortress Maximus decided to leave [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] and its war and settle on the peaceful planet [[Nebulos]]. Brainstorm followed Fortress Maximus's lead, building the ''[[Steelhaven]]'' and departing their war-torn home.

It would not be so easy. The [[Nebulan|Nebulans]] were xenophobic towards the strange robots which invaded their world, and after several missteps in communication, Fortress Maximus, Brainstorm, and a handful of others surrendered their heads as hopeful proof of their benevolence and compliance. {{storylink|Ring of Hate!}}

[[Image:Brainstormworldsapart.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Brainstorm would rather fight and die than live with the knowledge that he ran.]]
When the Decepticons arrived on Nebulos, Fortress Maximus and Brainstorm convinced [[Galen]] to attempt the creation of hybrid warriors through a bio-mechanical engineering process. An experimental surgeon named [[Arcana]] constructed the necessary equipment based on the Autobots' theories and underwent the process himself along with several other Nebulans, [[binary bonding]] with Brainstorm. {{storylink|Broken Glass!}}

''During an adventure that happened at some unspecified point that was logically impossible given the circumstances, Brainstorm and the other Autobot Headmasters fought the Decepticon [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] while the Autobot [[Targetmaster|Targetmasters]] were held captive by the Decepticons. Mindwipe hypnotized Brainstorm, causing him to crash into [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]], and in general, the Autobots put up a terrible fight. But Brainstorm refused to give up and abandon their captured comrades. The four attacked the Decepticons' [[Fortress of Despair]] and were overwhelmed, but because the Autobots learned to work together with their new Nebulan partners, they were able to rescue the Targetmasters. {{storylink|Worlds Apart!}}''

The new Headmasters managed to drive off the Decepticons, but also inadvertently created a new "arms race", as the Decepticons later created Headmasters of their own, and both sides also implemented Targetmaster warriors as well. Fearing things could only get worse for Nebulos, Fortress Maximus and Galen took the excuse of an intercepted distress signal from Earth to abandon Nebulos and prevent the war from causing any further harm to the planet. {{storylink|Brothers in Armor!!}}

On the way to Earth, Brainstorm re-engineered Fortress Maximus to be larger and stronger than ever before. Then, he and Arcana managed to triangulate the Autobot signal to [[Mount St. Hilary]]. This led into their first battle with Scorponok's forces on Earth and to the death of Galen. {{storylink|Trial by Fire!}}

As the ''Steelhaven'' orbited the Earth, Brainstorm was kept busy building [[Bumblebee (G1)|Goldbug]] a new body, repairing the injured Fortress Maximus and assisting in the creation of the Autobot [[Pretender|Pretenders]]. {{storylink|Pretender to the Throne!}} Unfortunately, those projects used up most of the group's available resources and prevented the proper recreation of Optimus Prime. The project proceeded despite Brainstorm's accurate warnings of failure. {{storylink|Totaled!}}

[[Image:Tastybrainstorm.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Can Unicron detect how much cinnamon is packed into every bite of Brainstorm?]]''Brainstorm was displaced to [[Limbo]] along with a handful of other Autobots when [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] traveled to the past with a group of Autobots of his own. {{storylink|Time Wars (issue)|Time Wars}}''
Later, he was one of the victims of a rogue Autobot Mark V Guardian droid, which resulted in him being thrown from the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] and landing at the feet of Optimus Prime. Brainstorm's flaming body helped contribute to the Autobot leader regaining his desire to fight. {{storylink|Yesterday's Heroes!}}

Brainstorm was killed when [[Unicron]] ravaged [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] in 1991. Even Brainstorm's vast intellect failed him when confronted with the devil himself, so he simply screamed and shot desperately until Unicron scooped him up. He was quite tasty. {{storylink|On the Edge of Extinction!}}

[[Image:Brainstormspike.jpg|right|250px|thumb|"Okay, we'll become Headmasters, but you gotta take the old man."]]Brainstorm was first seen on Cybertron, touting his new theory that an integration of human and Autobot would dramatically enhance their fighting abilities. Most of the other Autobots, though, thought he was a crackpot. Things turned around when he and a group of Autobots met a band of freedom fighters while stranded on the planet Nebulos. With several comrades kidnapped and the safety of the <s>MacGuffin</s> [[Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber|key]] to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]] in jeopardy, the Autobots arranged to bond with the Nebulan soldiers. Their heads were reconstructed to accommodate Nebulan passengers and then "transform" around their partners as personal battle armor. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

[[Image:Brainstormrebirthvehicle.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Uh, Arcana, he has a cockpit.]]
With the help of their partners, the Autobot Headmasters freed their comrades and drove off the Decepticons. Unfortunately, their foes then joined forces with the freedom fighters' enemies, a group of evil machinesmiths called the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]]. They also created a new form of binary bonding called Targetmasters. The revitalized Decepticons returned and engaged the Autobots in battle anew. [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]] detected the key on Brainstorm and managed to disarm him. Several Hive agents then swarmed Brainstorm and removed the key from him, but he was able to run a full spectrum exo-scan on [[Nightstick (Cyclonus)|Nightstick]], one of the Targetmaster partners, before they got away. With that information, Brainstorm was able to recreate the Targetmaster process for the Autobots. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 2}}

Returning to Cybertron in pursuit of the key and the new Decepticon city-base, Scorponok, Brainstorm and the others joined forces with [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]], and their partners were instrumental in reversing the chamber's power to usher in a new [[Golden Age]] for Cybertron. In the aftermath, Brainstorm and the Headmasters returned to Nebulos to clear out the Hive's machines and restore the planet to peace and prosperity. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 3}}
Brainstorm was one of the newest Autobot recruits added to their ranks when Optimus Prime rose to become Supreme Commander. [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] didn't think much of Brainstorm's chances of survival in the early days of the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]]. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 13#"Old Ways"|Old Ways}}

Brainstorm briefly appeared among the Autobot troops fighting [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and the Decepticons on Cybertron in the distant past. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 1}}

[[Image:AHM15_Brainstorm.jpg|thumb|right|200px|]]
He was later stationed at the [[Kimia Facility]], working on lots of experimental technology and weaponry for the Autobot cause. Brainstorm was often considered the insane standard that all other weapon designers in Kimia held themselves to. More than any other Autobot, he had beaten a path to [[Room 113]] where his creations were time and time again rejected by the [[Ethics Committee]] as violations of the [[Non-Conventional Weapons Act]]. Undaunted by the rejections, Brainstorm continued to dream up more outlandish and dangerous weapons in his time at Kimia. His most daring inventions were referred to as the "[[Unmentionable]]s". {{storylink|Bullets}}

On [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]]'s orders, he (alongside [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]]) used [[Pretender]] technology to rebuild [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] into a sane, rejuvenated 'bot. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 15#"Everything in Its Right Place"|Everything in Its Right Place}}

At [[Ironfist (G1)|Ironfist]]'s request, Brainstorm agreed to go over the gun that misfired the [[cerebro-sensitive bullet]] into Ironfist's skull, looking for what went wrong with the firing mechanism. Brainstorm let the review fall into his backlog for several months, probably because Ironfist neglected to mention the accident had left a bullet in his skull, slowly killing him. Brainstorm finally reported back just as Ironfist was leaving for the [[Wrecker]]s, revealing his findings that showed the gun had been rigged to go off at a certain angle. The saboteur, [[Skyfall (G1)|Skyfall]], wasn't apprehended until nine months later, so Brainstorm apparently did nothing to follow up on his findings after alerting Ironfist. {{storylink|Bullets}}

While he may have been in possession of some brilliant weapons, Brainstorm was not a warrior. He was killed alongside his fellow scientists when [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] and the [[Sweep]]s invaded Kimia. It appears that Ironhide's prediction finally came true. {{storylink|Chaos Part One: Lamentations}}
He was rescued by [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] and his other comrades, and in turn helped rescue those who were still imprisoned. Brainstorm, believing he was the match of the Decepticon leader, challenged [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s march on [[Zel Samine]] as his forces made their way through an array of wind turbines. They handed his aft to him, leaving Brainstorm shocked and confused; how could his frontal attack against superior forces have failed?

He retreated to formulate a new plan.
A [[commercial]] for [[Ring of Hate!|Headmasters #1]] featuring animation of Brainstorm and others is the only time these designs were used.
* The Headmasters appeared in a second commercial with much more sophisticated animation. In this entry, we see the Autobot Headmasters lined up in vehicle modes as their Nebulan partners run up into their cockpits and then launch into an attack. [http://youtube.com/watch?v=dDSemtc0JaU]
* Additional footage of the Headmasters featured in the animated introduction to the first commercial for the [[Pretender|Pretenders]]. * In all three of these commercials, Brainstorm is colored in his [[Marvel Comics]] colors rather than his color scheme seen in "[[The Rebirth]]", with his dark green and orange being replaced with cyan and yellow.
:''Afterburner is an [[Autobot]] [[Technobot (G1)|Technobot]] from the [[Generation 1 (franchise)|Generation 1]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:Afterburner1.jpg|right|250px|thumb|You'd be antisocial too if Grimlock was your dad.]]
'''Afterburner''' hates authority, hates being given orders, and is generally a seething cauldron of anger. Even innocuous remarks from teammates can send him into a furious rampage. He is ruthless and relentless in battle, giving him the greatest outlet for his rage. Somehow, he can get his temper under control long enough to form the giant [[Computron (G1)|Computron]] with his fellow [[Technobot (G1)|Technobots]], and it does not affect the combiner’s mental processes.

{{bigquote|Mellow out, Afterburner.|[[Lightspeed (G1 Technobot)|Lightspeed]] gives Afterburner some good advice|"[[Grimlock's New Brain]]"}}

==Fiction==
===Marvel Comics continuity===
{{noteukonly}}
Afterburner was one of the Autobots who left [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] aboard the ''[[Steelhaven (G1)|Steelhaven]]'' in order to start a new life away from war (maybe he was feeling sick that day). {{storylink|Ring of Hate!}} But the Decepticons followed them to their new home on [[Nebulos]]. Afterburner and the other Technobots repelled a [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcon]] attack on the resort city [[Splendora]] {{storylink|Love and Steel!}} before all of the Transformers left Nebulos. {{storylink|Brothers in Armor!!}}

When [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] took control of the powers of the [[Underbase]], Afterburner was part of the joint Autobot/Decepticon force that challenged him in the city of [[Buenos Aires]], and one of Starscream's many, many victims. {{storylink|Dark Star (issue)|Dark Star}}

====Marvel UK future timelines====
''In the post-[[Time Wars (issue)|Time Wars]] version of 2009, Afterburner was stationed at [[Autobot City]] on Earth. He was seen racing to the rescue of [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] and his shuttle crew when [[Unicron]] possessed [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] and turned him against the Autobots. {{storylink|Shadow of Evil}}''

''In 2510 of another future, Afterburner was present when Rodimus Prime announced the official end of the Autobot / Decepticon war. Unfortunately, hostilities were stirred up between the Technobots and the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] at the peace ceremony, leading to a NEW war on Cybertron. Don't look at Afterburner—he really didn't have anything to do with it. {{storylink|Peace}}''

===Generation 1 cartoon continuity===
====''The Transformers'' cartoon====
:''Voice actor:'' [[Jim Cummings]] (English), [[Toshio Ishii]] (Japanese)

[[Image:G1_afterburner_moneyiseverything.jpg|right|250px|thumb|]]
The Technobots were created by [[Grimlock (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Grimlock]] as a countermeasure to the new [[Decepticon]] [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]], using the heightened intelligence the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] had gained through an accident. Once their bodies had been built, Grimlock transferred his powerful intellect into them, returning to his original intelligence settings. {{storylink|Grimlock's New Brain}}

Later stationed in [[Autobot City]] on [[Earth]], the Technobots helped [[Earth Defense Command|EDC]] captain [[Marissa Faireborn]] track down a [[Quintesson]] base within the solar system, with the help (and occasional hindrance) of the smuggler [[Dirk Manus]]. {{storylink|Money Is Everything}}

The Technobots responded to the Terrorcon attack on [[Mark Morgan]]'s laboratory. Combining into Computron, they fought [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]], but the battle inadvertently injured Morgan's [[Jessica Morgan|daughter]], leading the scientist and his friend [[Gregory Swofford]] to infect the Autobots with the [[Hate Plague]]. {{storylink|The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1}} Months later, the Technobots were present for the attack on Autobot City where the Decepticons stole the key to the [[Plasma energy|plasma energy chamber]]. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

====Japanese cartoon continuity====
=====''The Great Transformer War''=====
The Technobots, upgraded with the help of the human scientist Doctor [[Dalton (G1)|Dalton]], faced off against the Terrorcon Abominus, but it was a trap set by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]. Forcing Abominus to split into his components, the individual Terrorcons spat a mind-controlling substance at Computron. Before Galvatron could get far with his new warrior, [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] came to the Technobot’s rescue in an [[exosuit]], firing a beam into Computron’s eyes that removed the mind-controlling effect. {{storylink|The Great Transformer War issue 2|The Great Transformer War #2}}

=====''The Headmasters'' cartoon=====
In 2011, Galvatron staged a major attack on Cybertron. Afterburner and the Technobots joined the Dinobots on the front lines of defense. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}} As [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Hot Rod]] continued his search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]], [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]] gathered Afterburner and the Technobots to prevent the Decepticons from hampering his quest. When Hot Rod finally located the Matrix, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] confronted him with the Decepticon [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] and Terrorcons, but the Technobots arrived to help even the odds. Scattershot ordered them to form Computron, and the mighty giant occupied the Decepticons so that Hot Rod could make a break for the [[Space Bridge]]. {{storylink|Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime}}

Later, Galvatron launched [[Metamorphose]], a metal-twisting meteorite, and the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbot]]s were its first victims. Afterburner and the Technobots were sent out to recover their damaged comrades for repairs, but they were intercepted by the Terrorcons. The fighting escalated with new arrivals on both sides, as the Decepticons tried to keep their foes occupied until the meteorite reached [[Athenia]], destroying the Autobots completely. The [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Battleship Maximus]] eventually arrived to carry the Headmasters into space to confront the meteorite, and so Afterburner and the Technobots formed Computron and covered their retreat. {{storylink|Approach of the Demon Meteorite}}

When [[buridanka|a giant carnivorous plant]] took root in [[San Francisco]], Ultra Magnus sent Afterburner and the Technobots to deal with the incident. The plant proved to be extraordinarily resilient, however, and it was also guarded by the Decepticons. The Technobots were distracted by combat with the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]], first as individuals and later combined as Computron and [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]]. {{storylink|Head On!! Fortress Maximus}} After the Trainbots ran into trouble on [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], Afterburner and his team were on the way to help when [[Sixshot]] and [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] intervened. The Earthbound Decepticons succeeded in occupying the Technobots so that they couldn't make it to Mars. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger}}

Afterburner and the Technobots were part of a strike team that flew to the [[Moon (moon)|moon]] to disrupt Scorponok's gathering of Decepticons. They immediately formed Computron upon entering the battle. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} Afterburner's regiment later helped load the Trainbots with energon supplies for the destitute planet [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]]. They were attacked by the greedy Decepticons and fought back both as the mighty Computron and as individuals, using the Trainbots' large vehicle modes as a shield. {{storylink|SOS from Planet Sandra}}

When Fortress was choosing his team to chase after Scorponok and the Decepticons through space, Afterburner was one of the Autobots tapped for service. {{storylink|Daniel Faces His Biggest Crisis Ever!!}} During this extended mission, Afterburner and the Technobots formed Computron to battle [[Predaking]] on the planet [[Paradise]]. {{storylink|Head Formation of Friendship}}

After returning to Earth, Afterburner and the Technobots reassociated with Ultra Magnus at Autobot City on Earth. They were sent to [[Miami]] to counter a Decepticon attack, and battled Abominus as Computron. Unfortunately, the attack was a ruse to draw them away from Autobot City, and they were unable to stop [[Sixshot]]'s assassination of Ultra Magnus. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus Dies!!}} The Decepticon attacks continued even after Magnus's death, as Sixshot launched five separate strikes at once around the world. Afterburner and the Technobots were dispatched as Computron to one of the many battle sites. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}} When the Decepticons seemingly abandoned Earth, Afterburner and the Technobots assisted Spike in rebuilding the planet after the enemy's departure. On one occasion, they located Sixshot's old command base. By combining into Computron, the Technobots helped Defensor and Raiden obliterate the base, wiping out all trace of the Decepticons' presence. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)}}

As part of Computron, Afterburner participated in the Autobots final battle with Scorponok's Decepticons at the North Pole. He lent his energies to the Headmasters' [[Head Formation]] to revitalize Fortress Maximus at the critical moment. {{storylink|The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)}}
[[Image:Stormbringer2 Nosecone Afterburner.jpg|left|150px|thumb|Don't think, just kiss me. No one will know except the wiki.]]
Afterburner was a member of the Autobot survey ship ''[[Calabi-Yau]]'s'' crew, along with his fellow Technobots and [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]]. They discovered mysterious signs of active energon on the supposedly dead world, and sent a team down to investigate. Afterburner and Nosecone stayed aboard the Calabai-Yau, but were shot down by [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]] and his hidden team of fanatics. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 1|Stormbringer #1}} Hunted by [[Centurion droid]]s and worn down by the planet's dangerous radiation levels, the two Technobots managed to survive until [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Wrecker]]s arrived and took them to safety. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 3|Stormbringer #3}}

When Optimus Prime came across a [[Pretender Monster|group of Cybertronians]] who had been [[Combiner|grotesquely re-engineered]] into a [[Monstructor (G1)|combined form]] by the scientist [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]], he turned the sextet over to Jetfire and the Technobots for study and possible help. {{storylink|Spotlight: Optimus Prime}} Afterburner and his science team took up work at the [[Garrus-9]] penitentiary, until it was assaulted by the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]] under the command of the [[Decepticon Secret Service]]. Under heavy fire, he and Scattershot were prepared to carry out Prime's instructions and terminate the combiners rather than let them fall into Decepticon hands, but ultimately failed to do so before [[Vortex (G1)|Vortex]] triggered an orbital bounce and stole the sextet right out from under them. {{storylink|Spotlight: Arcee}}

Events escalated shortly after that when [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] and the [[Ark-12]] chased an [[Cyclonus (G1)|unknown Cybertronian]] to a cave on [[Corata-Vaz]]. The cave was emanating an unusual but powerful energy source, and was guarded by none other than a reactivated Thunderwing. Afterburner and the Technobots were put to work by Jetfire to do their best to analyze the energy signature despite Thunderwing's efforts to keep them from making direct contact with it. When the Autobots quest for answers led them to the void of the [[Benzuli Expanse]], Jetfire volunteered to try Pretender technology as a means of entering the Expanse safely. {{storylink|Spotlight: Hardhead}}

Aboard their new cargo vessel ''[[Nightbird (ship)|Nightbird]]'', Afterburner and the Technobots rushed to reach [[Cloudburst]]'s team at the edge of the Benzuli Expanse. As they traveled they also worked on perfecting new Pretender carapaces for the journey inside the [[Dead Universe]]. {{storylink|Spotlight: Doubledealer}} They arrived just in time to execute a ship-to-ship transporter beam, pulling Cloudburst and the ''[[Mirror-Manifold]]'s'' crew to safety. The Technobots provided the carapaces Cloudburst and company needed to enter the Dead Universe and dispose of the [[Nega-Core]]s threatening their universe. {{storylink|Spotlight: Sideswipe}}

After the [[Surge (event)|Surge]], Afterburner was reassigned to a platoon under the command of [[Pyro]]. They successfully defeated the [[Tremorcon]]s on [[Hydrus 5]], thanks largely to the heroic actions of their commanding officer. {{storylink|Bullets}}

He later ended up stationed at [[Kimia Facility]]. When [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] invaded the facility, he fought back against the hordes of [[Sweep]]s, but to no avail. Everyone at Kimia was killed, including Afterburner. {{storylink|Chaos Part One: Lamentations}}
[[Image:Afterburnerback.jpg|right|100px|thumb|Yeah, just stick that anywhere.]]
*The rear view of Afterburner's animation model misses the second wheel and offsets the top wheel on to Afterburner's left shoulder, a misinterpretation of the animation model's front view. This model was seemingly only used in the [[AKOM]]-animated episodes "[[Grimlock's New Brain]]" and "[[The Rebirth]]" — in "[[Money Is Everything]]", Afterburner's back is drawn to match his toy. It is incorrect again throughout the entirety of the Headmasters series, unfortunately.

*Strangely, Computron's animation model has Afterburner's wheels correctly represented.

*Afterburner's bio has the peculiar last line [http://www.botchthecrab.com/archive/techspecs/autobot/1987/ts_afterburner.jpg "Combines with fellow Combaticons to form Computron."] This was corrected in the tech spec on the giftset box.
