Bad things happen in Altihex.
Fiction
Generation 1
Dreamwave Generation One comics
8.2 million years ago, not long after the death of Sentinel Prime, the Decepticons launched an attack on Altihex. The Autobots fought back as well as they could while doing everything to get the civilians evacuated. They suffered big losses during the battle, which was prolonged by a last group of about twenty civilians who refused to leave. They had hijacked one of the towers in Altihex to demonstrate against the war and convince both factions that they were all part of one race. In other words, they were sitting dynametal ducks for the Decepticon Seekers Thundercracker and Skywarp. The building was destroyed well before the Autobots could do anything to rescue the civilians, which on the other hand made their decision to retreat when it was reported that Decepticon reinforcements were approaching all the easier.

As Altihex was razed behind the fleeing Autobot forces, Grimlock decided that whoever would succeed Sentinel Prime had to be willing and capable of turning the Autobot forces into an army that would do more than react, defend and retreat. That, or he had to take matters into his own hands to prevent all of Cybertron ending up like Altihex. The War Within issue 1

*Locations
**An underground energon refinery

Altihex possessed an energon processing plant which was mostly located belowground. Only one level, housing the administrative offices, was aboveground. Because of this setup, the refinery became lost during the war for several centuries, until it was rediscovered by the Mini-Cons trying to rebuild the planet for the return of the Autobots. Soon after, the Mini-Con leader Modus Prime led an expedition to the energon processing plant. Comprising the expedition were the technical specialists of the Heavy Hauler Team and Urban Renewal Team and security chief Broadside, with the Clear Skies Team keeping recon overhead. The goal of the expedition was to investigate if the refinery could be made functional again and if so, inventorize what had to be done to achieve that.

However, Broadside, Sledge and Wideload had other plans for Cybertron than most of their peers. To realize those plans, they had agreed to murder the others of the expedition and blame it on the Autobots. Only a few minutes had gone by of the Mini-Cons exploring the lower levels of the refinery and Modus Prime occasionally insta-repairing equipment, when the trio made their move, after which they blew up the plant to hide the evidence.

The Clear Skies Team immediately moved in to extinguish the flames and look for survivors as Mini-Cons in the vicinity swarmed to the disaster site. Broadside came out of the burning building first, carrying the corpse of Modus Prime. With the Night Rescue Team assisting the Clear Skies Team, both Sledge and Wideload were also "saved" from the inferno. The two Mini-Cons dragged a fake corpse decorated with an Autobot insignia with them, claiming the expedition had been ambushed. Broadside called for revenge, but changed his tune to promote caution when another Mini-Con suggested that perhaps the Autobot had been driven mad by radiation or biomechanical parasites. Claiming they had to prevent themselves from getting infected, Broadside had the corpse taken out of anyone's reach before it could be further investigated. The Mini-Con crowd dispersed with mixed feelings shortly after. The New World

Cybertron
Armorhide was a stand-up comedian who performed at the great hall in Altihex. A Decepticon raid destroyed his city while he was on tour, and he joined the Autobots to exact revenge. Cyber Key Codes
Live-action film series
If the Transformers RISK game is to be taken at face value, Altihex exists and is surrounded by the area where the Smelting pool is located, Kolkular, Kaon and has passage that leads to Moon Alpha Spaceport. Risk
**Altihex Casino

Sentinel Prime was at Altihex Casino, attending a performance by comedian Armorhide, when Decepticons launched a bomb attack. Sentinel was taken to the Seekers Skywarp and Thundercracker by his bodyguard Starscream, whom he said would escort him to safety. He lied. Transformers: Exodus
