:Venom is a Decepticon Insecticon in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Venom is the official leader of the Insecticons, but he's so paranoid about one of the others trying to usurp his position that he does more damage to his own standing among them than most of the plots they might hatch against him. He trusts none of them and suspects everyone of being after his place. He wont hesitate to utilize his manipulative and destructive psychological warfare techniques on those under him to stay in power.

Fiction
Marvel UK Comics continuity
Venom and his teammates in the elite Mayhem Attack Squad were sent to aid the Wreckers against the team of Megatron and Galvatron. Despite the Mayhems' reputation, however, they were no match for their opponents, and Venom was slain by Galvatron shortly after the battle began. Twice.

Dreamwave comics continuity
8.2 million years ago, Venom participated in Shockwave's assault on Iacon. The War Within, Part 3 He presumably retreated with the rest of the Decepticons when Starscream activated the planetary engines, devastating the city.

After the fragmentation of the Decepticon forces following Megatron's seeming destruction in a space bridge accident, Venom joined Ratbat's Ultracons. He accompanied Ratbat and fellow Ultracons Chop Shop and Ransack on a mission to the Tagan Heights, where they unleashed the deadly Devastator on the Wreckers. Capturing the Wreckers' leader Springer, the Ultracons were prevented from executing him when Devastator's battle with Defensor raged out of control. The Dark Ages, Part 2 In the chaos that ensued, Venom and his allies escaped, leaving Devastator behind. The Dark Ages, Part 3

Later, Venom, Chop Shop, and Barrage were involved in an altercation with Ultra Magnus, Blaster, and Grimlock. Venom also accompanied his leader to the Autobot/Decepticon peace ceremony at Tyger Pax. The Age of Wrath, Part 1

Venom, along with Barrage, Chop Shop, and Ransack, remained on Cybertron following the departure of the Ark and the Nemesis. The planet's chronic energon shortage reduced them to a vampiric existence, forcing them to capture Micromasters and drain them of their fuel. While pursuing Falcon and Flanker in the Wastelands, they ran into the middle of a conflict between the Hot Rod Patrol and Race Track Patrol. Destined For Nothing

After devouring Falcon they soon set upon the other Micromasters, but were driven back by the timely arrival of Groundshaker, who left with the Hot Rod Patrol. The subsequent arrival of Shockwave prevented them from devouring the Race Track Patrol, but he did surreptitiously toss them Flanker as a snack once the others had left. The Gray Race The Insecticons subsequently abducted the Race Track Patrol and several other Micromasters from Little Iacon, in an attempt to ferret out the Hot Rod Patrol and gain some new recruits in the process. He berated Chop Shop after he accidentally snatched Road Hugger, accusing him of trying to undermine the mission. As he attempted to persuade his captives to join the Decepticons, he ordered Barrage to blast Blaze Master as a show of force. Taking his captives and recruits back to Decepticon HQ, Venom passed along a communique from Shockwave (actually a disguised Skystalker) to Barricade and his team-mates, summoning them to his quarters. Recipe For Hate While attempting to stop an invasion force of Micromasters from freeing their comrades, Venom was skewered by a revived Blaze Master. Victims of the Revolution

Devil's Due G.I. Joe vs the Transformers comics continuity
As part of Serpent O.R.'s forces, Venom defended the newly unified Decepticon army's base against a combined Autobot/G.I. Joe strike force. During the battle, he and Barrage were pounded on by Snarl and Storm Shadow. The Art of War, Part 5
Toys
Generation 1
*Venom (Deluxe Insecticon, 1985)

: Venom transforms into a robotic cicada. He comes with a small blaster and an axe, and is one of the few Deluxe Insecticons whose arms actually let him aim either in any useful manner.

Trivia
* Venom, like all of the Deluxe Insecticons, was originally designed by Takatoku Toys for the Armored Insect Battalion Beetras toyline (Nihongo: 機甲虫隊ビートラス). Takatoku Toys went out of business before the end of the Beetras line and their assets were purchased by fellow Japanese toymaker Bandai. Bandai licensed Takatoku's Beetras molds (alongside toys from Special Armored Battalion Dorvack and Super Dimensional Fortress Macross) to Hasbro in 1985 to make the Deluxe Insecticons.

* Venom's mold was originally released as the Beetras toy named Beet Zeguna.

* Neither Venom nor the rest of the Deluxe Insecticons ever appeared in an episode of the original Transformers cartoon series. As none of the Deluxe Insecticons were based on toys owned by Takara there is little likelihood that they will ever be reissued by TakaraTomy or Hasbro.

* In the cartoon, where Venom did not appear, the Insecticons appeared to be rather communal in leadership, though Shrapnel was often shown in a leadership position. Venom has been keeping an eye on Shrapnel ever since.

* Cicadas have no venom. They don't even bite or sting. They're just noisy.

* Venom has shown no evidence in any fiction of a desire to eat your brains.

:Steeljaw is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Where the Decepticon cassette with a cat-mode is a master of moving about undetected, it is fitting that the his Autobot counterpart is one of the best at tracking down robots who don't want to be found. Steeljaw is a tenacious tracker of unmatched skill. His olfactory sensors can track even the faintest scent for a range of 800 miles. All business when on the job, he can come off as cold, even rude to others but that's just his professionalism and determination getting the better of him. Steeljaw has a nearly unbreakable bite, wich gave him his name and is armed with two solar powered pelet guns. He can electromagnatize himself to stick to surfaces in cassette mode. His only real weakness is a tendency to rust.

In an alternate timeline in the year 2008, Steeljaw was stationed at Autobot City: Earth when it was sacked by Quintessons. He survived, hidden within Blaster's tape compartment, and was activated by Hot Rod and Arcee to help them fight off the invaders. Space Pirates!

G.I. Joe Starring Snake-Eyes and the Transformers
In the normal timeline (albeit in a G.I. Joe comic), Steeljaw was part of a team sent by Optimus Prime to stop a Cobra-rebuilt Megatron. Steeljaw was killed rather abruptly, being the first victim of Megatron's new "hyper-velocity" rail gun. Final Transformations

Megatron sent Soundwave's cassette forces to find the secret location of Metroplex's construction site. Blaster ejected his own cassette troops, Steeljaw among them, to counter the Decepticon threat. His cassette army failed, allowing Ratbat to slip through and discover the location of Metroplex.

Generation 1 cartoon
In 2005, during Megatron's attack on Autobot City, Soundwave ejected several of his cassette warriors to prevent Blaster from sending a radio transmission to Optimus Prime on Moonbase One. To fend off Soundwave's cassettes, Blaster ejected his own force, with Steeljaw among them. Blaster's cassettes and Soundwave's cassettes appeared to be evenly matched.

In the year 2006, Steeljaw participated in several missions. In one notable appearance, he was chosen as a "Primative" by Primacron's Assistant and summoned to face the threat of Tornadron.

Headmasters cartoon (Japan-only)
After Blaster was killed in a duel with Soundwave, Steeljaw, his cassette partners, Wheelie and Daniel Witwicky pleaded with Rodimus Prime to rebuild their friend. Rodimus eventually caved and rebuilt Blaster as Twincast.
the Decepticon Micromaster

:Bombshock is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Bombshock is old because he's hard. And he's hard because he's fought his way through the biggest, baddest battles of the Cybertronian Civil Wars. Millions of years of unrelenting combat have burned away all traces of mercy, compassion, and idealism, leaving nothing behind but his cold, ruthless core. He leads the Military Patrol well, and he doesn't seem to mind that all three of his teammates are plotting against him. They want a fight, and fighting's all he's good at. And when he gets into the heat of battle, even the destruction of his enemies won't stop him. Sometimes, he won't stop fighting until his bombs have blown most of himself apart.

Fiction
Dreamwave comics continuity
A highly-decorated Decepticon warrior, Bombshock was rebuilt as a Micromaster and took up residence in Little Iacon. He helped train an inter-faction group of young Micromasters, and convinced Barricade to join the Decepticons. Victims of the Revolution Some time later, while arm-wrestling Dropshot and Groundpounder simultaneously (with one arm - and winning!) in a bar, Bombshock witnessed an altercation between the Hot Rod and Race Track Patrols. He then watched a race between Big Daddy and Roadhandler. The Gray Race He accompanied a group of Insecticons back to Decepticon headquarters, where he joined Skystalker's Micromaster insurrection. Recipe For Hate He helped defend their newly-taken base against a Countdown-led Autobot force, and refused Countdown's offer of an alliance against their larger counterparts. Victims of the Revolution

Toys
* Military Patrol (Micromaster Patrol, 1990)
:Bombshock transforms into a blue and green M1 Abrams tank. He was available only in a four-pack with Dropshot, Growl, and Tracer.

: This toy was released in the Japanese Battlestars line without changes as the Autobot Bombshock.
