Denied the help of [[Omega Supreme (G1)| Omega Supreme]], Rodimus prepared the ''Lost Light'' to find the Knights of Cybertron, a group from Cybertron's ancient past. He intended on following a map discovered in the halves of the now empty [[Matrix of Leadership]] by [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and [[Rewind]], hoping that the knowledge and power of the Knights could be used to bring Cybertron into a new golden age. Rodimus gave a rousing speech on the day prior to the launch, intending on swaying the varied Transformers currently inhabiting and feuding on Cybertron to accompany him. While [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] predicted Rodimus would fail to convince anyone to leave with him, at least 200 answered the call. After being checked and cleared by a diligent [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]], the passengers boarded the ''Lost Light'', along with a "[[Whirl (G1)|weapon of mass destruction]]" brought on board by [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], an unconcious and crippled [[Tailgate (G1)|Tailgate]], a disabled [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], and mysterious cargo smuggled aboard on Prowl's orders.

The ship launched on schedule, but something went wrong. As the ''Lost Light'' lifted off, it was rocked by an explosion and quantum jumped before it was ready. The jump placed the ''Lost Light'' over an unknown planet somewhere in space and caused one of the rear thrusters to explode, resulting in a fire and a hull tear in one of the hangars on the upper decks. Before the tear could be sealed, 40 Autobots were ejected through the breach. Rodimus ordered the ''Lost Light'' to be set down on the planet's surface so the lost Autobots could be recovered.

'''Tailgate''' is an Autobot scout, not so much for his skill (for he is mediocre at best) but for two unrelated reasons. First, his hood conceals a ridiculously powerful iron-cobalt magnet, which he can use to tailgate closely beside other vehicles and travel far into enemy territory without fuel. Second, his bizarre ''idées fixes'' make him extremely poor company for other [[Autobot|Autobots]].

Nobody knows where Tailgate got his screws knocked loose. Some say he was traumatized in a hazing ritual that went terribly wrong; others think it's simply the length of the war taking its toll. At any rate, he began causing problems soon after arriving on [[Earth]], proclaiming speed limits to be an affront to liberty, and attempting to liberate "enslaved" household appliances from their alleged slavemasters. Nothing the veteran Autobots could do would dissuade him from his mad quest, or convince him of non-sentient machines on Earth. Eventually, it was decided to make him a scout, with strict orders not to break cover for any reason.

Still, every time he sees a bicycle chained to a pole, his [[spark]] burns hot with righteous anger. "Some day, my brothers will wear no chains," he thinks. "Some day, we shall break free!"

With the [[Autobot]]s being framed by the [[Decepticon Trailer Brigade]] for numerous crimes, [[Kenji]] was feeling a bit dejected at how his schoolyard chums were suddenly turning on them. Tailgate appeared to give him a lift home from school and attempted to cheer him up, reminding him that as an [[Honorary Autobot]] he had nothing to worry about. Their drive was interrupted by a crowd gathering around a display put on by a pair of robed figures (secretly [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] and [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]]), decrying the Autobots and preaching the heroism of the [[Decepticon]]s. Dying from its wounds, the dog transferred the super science into Powerglide, giving him brief access to [[Scramble Power]]. According to him, if he wasn't there for the launch, [[Spotlight: Galvatron|the mission was doomed]], and so he tried to detonate his [[energon]] rations in the hope of being detected. Despite passing out over and over, he did finally manage it... six million years later, outside the ''[[Lost Light]]'' launch, and he had a panic attack when he saw his explosion had damaged [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]]. The Autobots, not knowing who Tailgate was, took him onboard the ''Light'' since he'd mentioned "the launch".

Dipstick was not a happy bot when [[Ironfist (G1)|Ironfist]]'s test run of the [[lightformer cannon]] resulted in extensive damage to the reconstruction project, and let him and his buddies [[Pyro]] and [[Guzzle (G1)|Guzzle]] know in blunt terms. Guzzle attempted to justify the incident by claiming that's what [[Wrecker]]s do, while Pyro tried to simply apologize for it. Unfortunately, Pyro's apology was cut brief as [[Rotorstorm]] dropped a payload, narrowly missing poor Dipstick. Understandably, he was all too happy to be rid of this troublemaking quatuor as the pick-up signal from [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] arrived. As the soon-to-be Wreckers boarded, Pyro told Dipstick they'd be seeing him, but he quipped back that as Wreckers, they probably won't live long enough for that to happen. He is not a fighter, but his strength is found in his convictions. Xaaron, though physically unimposing, speaks and acts with incredible confidence that grows from his irreverent brand of wisdom. [[Impactor|A few]] under his command wish he weren't such a "wily old buzzard," since Xaaron's touch is about as subtle as a boulder to the head. It is this heavy-handed approach, however, that makes him extremely valuable to the Autobots as a source of inspiration; some believe he is so important to the cause that most would willingly lay down their lives to save him.

Xaaron suggested he do it, but Ultra Magnus wouldn't have it, as Xaaron was too important to the Autobot resistance movement. No, the deed was done by Impactor, who had regained his wits, despite his zombie state. ''During their tour of duty, [[Seawatch]] was returned to Autobase, catatonic. Xaaron sent the Classic Pretenders to investigate, and they found the [[Demon|Demons]], relics of Cybertron's past.'' {{storylink|Demons!}} ''From Seawatch's manic ramblings, Xaaron was clued in to the lore of the Demons and their weakness. Arriving on the battlescene with a weapon, Xaaron overloaded them with pure [[energon]], destroying the creatures.'' {{storylink|Dawn of Darkness}} The Classic Pretenders needed to return to [[Earth]], but while Xaaron had opened a transdimensional portal to send them home, the Autobots were suddenly under attack by [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s [[Mayhem Attack Squad]]. With [[Unicron]] now nearing Cybertron, Xaaron aided Optimus Prime in their search for the Autobot [[Matrix of Leadership|Creation Matrix]] by sending out teams into a sector of the galaxy where the Matrix (in Optimus Prime's old body) had likely been jettisoned. {{storylink|Matrix Quest|Martix Quest}} But Unicron had his own plans in mind, sending a [[Galvatron II|Galvatron from a possible future]] to Cybertron to prepare for his arrival. The timelost herald pursued Xaaron specifically, finally cornering him deep below the surface of the planet. Galvatron revealed that he felt betrayed by Unicron and wished to ask Xaaron how to defeat him. Xaaron gasped, recalling an old legend which stated that if the Transformers united as one, Unicron could be defeated. {{storylink|...All This and Civil War 2}} Galvatron brought Xaaron down into the center of Cybertron, where Primus' chamber lay, and had the resistance leader attempt to pray Primus out of his renewed slumber. Primus spoke through Xaaron's body, causing it to glow and float above the startled Transformers, and he told them the history of their race. After the Autobots and Decepticons joined forces long enough to ward off brainwashed [[Unicron cultist|Unicron cultists]], Primus' avatar nominated Optimus Prime to be their united leader. This union dissipated quickly into chaos and terror once the impossibly huge Unicron arrived. {{storylink|The Void! (US)|The Void!}}

It would not be so easy. They also created a new form of binary bonding called Targetmasters. The revitalized Decepticons returned and engaged the Autobots in battle anew. [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]] detected the key on Brainstorm and managed to disarm him. In the year 2011, when Galvatron launched his latest attack on Cybertron with the added power of his new Decepticon Headmasters, Brainstorm and his fellow Autobot Headmasters travelled to the planet to help their comrades defend their homeworld. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}} On arrival, they set about fighting the Decepticons. Brainstorm and Chromedome were able to overcome [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]], despite the Decepticon's powers of hypnotism. Following the battle's conclusion, they traveled to [[Athenia]] on board Battleship Maximus to join the Autobot forces there. Though they volunteered to accompany [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] to [[Earth]] to help search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]], he insisted on sidelining them. {{storylink|The Mystery of Planet Master}} After [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]]'s death, the Headmasters joined Hot Rod anyway and helped him search. Daniel pointed out they were still upset about Blaster's death, however Fortress resurrected Blaster as Twincast. The Headmasters were sent to [[Praum]] to investigate reports of a Decepticon attack. On arrival, they found the base had been devastated and the occupants apparently destroyed, moving Brainstorm to make the sign of the cross. It turned out to be a trap set by Scorponok, but the five Headmasters remembered their struggles back on Master and swapped Transtectors in order to escape. During the launch of the [[Sol 1]] satellite, the Headmasters defended [[Sol System Center|the launch pad]]. Brainstorm took to the air to try and chase off Cyclonus and Scourge. They succeeded in launching the satellite, but when the Decepticons made another play for it, Sixshot kept the Autobot Headmasters busy. Brainstorm was ready to charge over to [[Chaar]] to get Sol 1 back, but Fortress had a better idea where it was. The Headmasters found the satellite near [[Zarak (planet)|Zarak]], but were forced to destroy it to keep it out of Decepticon hands. {{storylink|The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok}}

The Headmasters went to Earth to assist when a Peruvian volcano erupted. While fighting [[Predaking]] and the Decepticon Headmasters, Brainstorm used his whirlwind attack to draw hot ash from an ash cloud and blast the Decepticons with it. He also assisted during the evacuation of the village of [[Pan]] by rescuing [[Pipiro]]'s donkey, [[Koro]]. {{storylink|The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts}} When they attacked a [[buridanka]] plant on Earth, Brainstorm boldly threw himself into one of the plant's mouths. When reports came in of the Decepticons being up to something on [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], Brainstorm and the other Headmasters traveled there in [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]]. After tangling with [[Predaking]] they rescued Daniel and found out that the Decepticons were planning to blow the entire planet up. Brainstorm offered the opinion that a UFO Daniel saw might be aliens. He and the other Headmasters patrolled space near Chaar and came under attack from MegaZarak, but escaped thanks to another appearance by the mystery UFO. It wasn't until the Autobots gatecrashed Scorponok's coronation ceremony that the UFO was revealed to be the returned Galvatron, and they had to retreat. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} After an SOS was received from [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]], the Headmasters prepared to take a shipment of energy to that world. The Decepticons set out to stop them, but Brainstorm and Highbrow kept them busy while Chromedome and Hardhead sneaked ahead with the energy. When the Galvatron who met with Spike turned out to be an impostor, Brainstorm and the others rescued Carly and Daniel before attacking the Decepticons. As Maximus neared the [[Twin Star]] system, Brainstorm got the other riled up by claiming battle was about brain over brawn. He volunteered to accompany Daniel, [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] and [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]] to the planet of Toruin while the others fought the Decepticons on Spherity. The four of them weren't on the barren planet for long before they stumbled on an underground city—the inhabitants of Spherity were using the planet as a refuge. Brainstorm returned to the battle on Spherity, using a head swap technique with the other Headmasters so he could reach Fortress and deliver the news that Spherity was an empty world. He later apologized to the other Headmasters for his earlier comments about warfare. {{storylink|Battle for Defense of the False Planet}}

An SOS led the Headmasters to the planet [[Daros]] where they fought the Decepticons again and overthrew the corrupt government. {{storylink|Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!!}} Brainstorm noticed that Battleship Maximus's weapons systems were malfunctioning and had Chromedome and Hardhead go to fix them. Brainstorm was keen to take the fight to the Decepticons before their foe could return to Chaar. Brainstorm was one of the newest Autobot recruits added to their ranks when Optimus Prime rose to become Supreme Commander. He was later stationed at the [[Kimia Facility]], working on lots of experimental technology and weaponry for the Autobot cause. Brainstorm was often considered the insane standard that all other weapon designers in Kimia held themselves to. More than any other Autobot, he had beaten a path to [[Room 113]] where his creations were time and time again rejected by the [[Ethics Committee]] as violations of the [[Non-Conventional Weapons Act]]. Undaunted by the rejections, Brainstorm continued to dream up more outlandish and dangerous weapons in his time at Kimia. On [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]]'s orders, he (alongside [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]]) used [[Pretender]] technology to rebuild [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] into a sane, rejuvenated 'bot. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 15#"Everything in Its Right Place"|Everything in Its Right Place}}

At [[Ironfist (G1)|Ironfist]]'s request, Brainstorm agreed to go over the gun that misfired the [[cerebro-sensitive bullet]] into Ironfist's skull, looking for what went wrong with the firing mechanism. Brainstorm let the review fall into his backlog for several months, probably because Ironfist neglected to mention the accident had left a bullet in his skull, slowly killing him. Brainstorm finally reported back just as Ironfist was leaving for the [[Wrecker]]s, revealing his findings that showed the gun had been rigged to go off at a certain angle. The saboteur, [[Skyfall (G1)|Skyfall]], wasn't apprehended until nine months later, so Brainstorm apparently did nothing to follow up on his findings after alerting Ironfist. {{storylink|Bullets}}

Sureshot was one of many Autobots living in an unnamed city on Cybertron. The city was eventually incinerated by Scorponok's Decepticons; Sureshot was among the numerous Autobots captured and marched off toward the [[smelting pool]]s. Only a timely attack by Fortress Maximus's band saved them, driving off their Decepticon captors.

Sureshot apparently joined Fortress Maximus's group at this point; he was part of the group of Autobots who abandoned the war under the leadership of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]], attempting to give peace a chance on the new world of [[Nebulos]]. Their efforts at peaceful coexistence with the natives were destabilized by mistrust and treachery, however, prompting Fortress Maximus to make a desperate bid for peace. Sureshot was one of nearly a dozen Autobots who gave up their personal weapons to the Nebulans as a sign of cooperation—a major sacrifice for Sureshot, to be sure. {{storylink|Ring of Hate!}}

The arrival of the Decepticons was almost beneficial for the Autobots, as it compelled the Autobots and Nebulans to work together by [[binary bonding]] into integrated [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] pairings. After [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] and his army made a deal with the unscrupulous Lord [[Zarak (G1)|Zarak]] and became Headmasters themselves, though, they were able to use Zarak's connections and [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]]'s hypnotic power to turn public Nebulan sentiment against the Autobots. Sureshot and many of his fellow warriors were still weaponless, and now leaderless after Fortress Maximus and the Headmasters were captured by Zarak's crew. Luckily, some Nebulans still believed in Max's partner, [[Galen|Peer Galen]], and had themselves bio-mechanically engineered to transform into weapons that would replace those the Autobots lost. In defending the Nursery botanical gardens, Sureshot first combined with his Nebulan partner [[Spoilsport]] as an Autobot [[Targetmaster]]. How many Decepticons, you ask? ALL of them. It seemed [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] had learned of the Plasma Energy Chamber, the foundry in which the original Autobot bodies were forged, and had a plan to take the Chamber's key, open it, and turn the massive energies within to his advantage. Sureshot and his allies managed to get the key back from Galvatron's lackey, [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]], just before a blast of [[plasma energy]] sent their shuttle rocketing through space. They eventually crash-landed on the planet Nebulos and were captured by machine-hating rebels who mistook the Autobots for creations of their enemies, the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]].

When the Decepticons arrived, [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] was able to convince the Nebulan leader [[Gort]] to release the Autobots to fight for them. Mere moments after the energy bonds were undone, though, Sureshot was disabled by the Decepticons' opening volley of laser fire. The 'Cons disengaged after a short battle, taking the fallen Autobots with them as leverage and to torture them for the location of the key. After applying Brainstorm's ideas for bio-mechanical engineering to themselves and the Nebulans to become Headmasters, the free Autobots assaulted the Decepticons and managed to reclaim Sureshot and the rest of their comrades.

[[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], Scourge and the other Decepticons then made a devil's bargain with Zarak and the Hive, creating Decepticon Headmasters and a new variant in binary bonding: Targetmasters. Their enhancements proved effective, and they managed to steal back the key from the Autobots. On the other hand, Brainstorm's exo-scanner captured a full bodyscan of a Targetmaster warrior, allowing him to recreate the process and turn Sureshot and several others into Autobot Targetmasters, binary bonded to six Nebulan sharpshooters. Having created two giant transforming starships as well, Scorponok and later Fortress Maximus, the Transformers carried the battle back to Cybertron, where the power of the Plasma Energy Chamber was ultimately reversed back into the planet's core, revitalizing Cybertron back to what it was in the Golden Age. '''Rollout''' is a different flavor altogether: loud, brash, impulsive, violent and overall leaving one wondering just how in the hell he actually gets any of his objectives accomplished. His behavior is better-suited to front-line brawlers and heavy artillery units, especially his penchant for finding bigger, louder, and more devastating weaponry to try out. Send him to steal a file and he's likely to detonate the entire building it was stored in. When he's off-duty, he's constantly letting everyone know that he's seriously on some high-stakes top-secret mission that he totally can't give you any details about, but believe him, it's big important stuff! But somehow... the job he was sent to do gets done, to the bafflement of just about everyone who's ever met him.

He probably would have been fine metal shavings centuries ago, or at least severely demoted, if it weren't for the efforts of his "partner" [[Glitch]]. Few realize that the tiny bot they consider a remote-controlled battle drone is actually working fervently behind the scenes (typically scenes of carnage and destruction that Rollout is smack in the middle of), stealing data, eliminating problems and—most importantly—covering up for Rollout's many, many mistakes.

Of course, Rollout keeps getting the credit for all this. Whether he's even cognizant of Glitch's role in their job is unknown, as is how Glitch himself feels about the arrangement.

''Amory'' required the services of Nightbeat and his team in finding her pilot, [[Phyrion]]. However, the entire arrangement was a setup put together by the Decepticons [[Ruckus (G1)|Ruckus]] and [[Needlenose]], who had assembled an alleged "new [[Mayhem Attack Squad]]" by promising payment to [[Octopunch]] and [[Stranglehold]] for their assistance. Ruckus wasn't very smart, however, and had brought his hostage with him. Soon after Siren disoriented Ruckus with his [[Sonic-screamer pistol|sonic-screamer pistols]] and Slag separated Ruckus from the hostage by ''chopping off his arm'', the Decepticons were defeated and Phyrion was returned to ''Amory''. He flew his brave comrades to Earth where it took the combined firepower of the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]] and [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] to shoot him down. A [[Quintesson]] once used Sky Lynx's sublime appearance as a disguise. During the course of this investigation, Sky Lynx was forced to save his comrades from [[Blast Off (G1)|a pale imitation of himself]] and [[Runamuck (G1)|a mere hooligan]], who had somehow obtained [[death crystal]]s. Sky Lynx carried his team to [[Dread (planet)|Dread]], where he was again forced to intercede, rescuing Blurr from a swamp while simultaneously leading the counter offensive against the Predacons. Did they not learn their last painful lesson in humility on Io? They made another attempt during the battle at [[Queeg Mountain]], but even as Sky Lynx attempted to enlighten them on the error of their ways, a lucky shot destroyed the rock he was standing on. Naturally Sky Lynx suffered only minor damage, and he was about to execute his usual daring nick-of-time rescue for Kup and the [[Dread slaves|slaves]] as the mountain erupted. {{storylink|Chaos (episode)|Chaos}}

Sky Lynx lent his skill and finesse to the assault on [[Paradron]] after the planet was conquered by the Decepticons. While his beauty was gracing the entrance to a peace conference, Sky Lynx was approached by Ultra Magnus, who needed a ride to some dingy asteroid or other to save the galaxy. Sky Lynx took him there and helped him fight off a small swarm of some disgusting alien parasites. Unfortunately he was unable to fit through the corridors of the storage asteroid and thus couldn't help defeat the Decepticons, but he could at least take Ultra Magnus, Wheelie and Daniel to safety before the asteroid exploded. {{storylink|Surprise Party}} After Sky Lynx dropped Kup and [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]] off at [[Autobot City]], there was a dreadful kerfuffle resulting in him transporting a group of Autobots to [[Unicron]]'s head. While he was parked outside, [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] attacked, and Sky Lynx was forced to retreat to a safe distance, from where he was later able to swoop in and rescue Ultra Magnus and his team. {{storylink|Ghost in the Machine}} During an [[isodrite]] mining operation, Sky Lynx alerted his fellows to incoming Decepticons. A brief battled ensued, in which Galvatron claimed more Decepticon casualties than the Autobots, and Sky Lynx suggested they strategically withdraw with what isodrite they'd gathered. During a journey to through the [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]] sector, Sky Lynx came under attack by [[Astrotrain (G1)|another pretender to the shuttle throne]]. The two proceeded to engage in combat, until both were fired upon by the [[Junkion (species)|Junkions]]. Though the Junkions posed no threat to one of Sky Lynx's skill, he recognized that their actions were out of place, and sped with all possible haste back to Cybertron, informing [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] of their out-of-character actions. Despite acknowledging his "ace work", Rodimus, for some reason, dispatched those [[Aerialbot (G1)|uncouth flyboys]] to investigate. However, Sky Lynx proved his undeniable talents by rescuing [[Superion (G1)|their combined form]] from imminent destruction. {{storylink|The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)|The Big Broadcast of 2006}}

When [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] detected a Quintesson signal, he naturally dispatched Sky Lynx to investigate. Unfortunately the planet from which the signal emanated proved to be covered in vegetation, preventing Sky Lynx's otherwise flawless chassis from landing and forcing him to send his passengers, [[Outback (G1)|Outback]] and [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] instead. He was nonetheless able to provide air support against the Predacons, and spirited away the Autobots along with the [[Quintesson Journal]] they'd found. Alas, he was subsequently seized by the Quintessons. No sooner had he and his chums escaped that predicament, than they were set upon by Decepticons, who blew a hole in Sky Lynx's side and stole the journal. While they battled over control of the journal, the Quintessons reclaimed their toy, and Sky Lynx was later able to extract it from the Quintesson ship by deftly cutting a hole in the hull at exactly the right point. He could then return the journal to the peace conference, where its contents were used to settle a centuries-old war. {{storylink|The Quintesson Journal}} On one occasion, Sky Lynx's normally-superb gyros malfunctioned, causing him to crash on Cybertron. Later still, during a skirmish on [[Earth]]'s [[Moon (moon)|Moon]], superior forces arrived to save the Autobots in the form of Sky Lynx, though the brutish [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] dared challenge him. However, before Sky Lynx could deliver what would have likely been a stunning finishing blow, the other [[Primitive|vulgars]] were drawn away from the battle by a voice in the distance. For some reason, his magnificence was included in this motley crew and was even forced to voyage with them to the far reaches of space, a sojourn they surely could not have made themselves without Sky Lynx's intellect and sense of direction. Upon landing, Sky Lynx took command of that ill-tempered, uncivilized group of evolutionary throwbacks and directed them in a proper manner, a task which nearly exceeded his incredible skill. However, upon finding the caller, [[Oracle (G1)|the fool]] had the audacity to call him Primitive! Can you imagine? Unfortunately for Sky Lynx, the menace [[Tornedron]] was too much even for him. {{storylink|Call of the Primitives}}

Finding Galvatron bashing on a [[quadrant lock|strange disc]] in space, Sky Lynx released his passengers to investigate. He was unable to prevent them from being sucked through the disc into a sealed region of space, however after the seal was broken, he joined them on the newly-freed world of [[Zamojin (planet)|Zamojin]]. {{storylink|The Face of the Nijika}} Sky Lynx carried Rodimus Prime and Kup to [[Japan]] during a Decepticon attack, arriving in time to prevent [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] from shooting [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]]. Kup even complemented him on his shooting, but Sky Lynx just responded "I know". Once they'd landed, Sky Lynx passed on the message that Rodimus was wanted at the Imperial Palace by an irate [[Prime Minister of Japan|Prime Minister]]. {{storylink|The Burden Hardest to Bear}}

In one of his most successful endeavours, Sky Lynx's unquestioned skills were called into play yet again when Rodimus Prime required a [[Quintesson]] during the [[Hate Plague]] crisis. With his customary flair and talent, not to mention amazing speed, Sky Lynx located and retrieved one, who subsequently restored [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] to life. Jolly good show! Just as Sky Lynx hoped, Optimus Prime knew how to stop the Hate Plague. {{storylink|The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1}} Sky Lynx accompanied Optimus Prime to obtain the heat resistant alloy from Galvatron. When Galvatron attempted to betray the Autobots, Sky Lynx's swift speed enabled him to grab Galvatron's cannon when it was knocked away. During the retreat, Sky Lynx was blessed by not being infected by the Hate Plague despite being grabbed onto by [[Jessica Morgan]]. Truly special this was! This did not protect him being infected by Rodimus Prime later on Earth. As Predaking squashed his foes, Galvatron chuckled, having ensured that Predaking's only worthy opponent, Sky Lynx, was entangled on [[Earth]] battling Decepticons in [[New York City]]. With Sky Lynx unavailable, surely nothing could stand in Predaking's way?

(The uncouth [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] was overly obsessed with catching the rogue Autobot, [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]].) Upon the venerable Sky Lynx's arrival, Wheeljack requested that he put his considerable skills on temporary hold. What a waste of his immeasurable potential! Before too long, thankfully, Sky Lynx was at last called into action! After Grimlock tossed some [[Spacehikers|juvenile humanoids]] out the airlock of the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] into space (for "conspiring" with Blaster), Sky Lynx, with utmost aplomb, rescued them, and put to use his finest displays of agility evading those mongrel Dinobots. Indeed, Sky Lynx's feats were subverted only by the actions of another. To wit: While Sky Lynx was surrounded (which posed no true disadvantage to the ever-resourceful paragon), Blaster turned himself in to Grimlock in exchange for the guaranteed safety of Sky Lynx's young charges. {{storylink|Spacehikers!}}

However, before speedily returning the kids to their home, Sky Lynx took them to a traveling space carnival. As they had no money to pay for tickets, Sky Lynx charitably agreed to work for the carnival, while the kids were taken care of. Unfortunately, the fine print in the magnificent Autobot's contract made all of them unwilling guests of the wretched carnival. Before Sky Lynx could effect a no-doubt-brilliant escape plan, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Powermaster]]s passed by and rescued the group, saving Sky Lynx the indignity of facing down such unworthy foes as a [[Gilashark]] and [[Rorza, the Rocket-cycle Racer from Rigel III]]. {{storylink|The Cosmic Carnival}}

Taking advantage of Starscream's gross overconfidence, Sky Lynx tipped the scales ''further'' in his favour by splitting in half into his separate lynx and dinosaur modes, then soundly thrashing the pitiful Combaticons before the shocked Starscream reactivated the energy dampeners.

During the course of this investigation, Sky Lynx was forced to save his comrades from [[Blast Off (G1)|a pale imitation of himself]] and [[Runamuck (G1)|a mere hooligan]], who had somehow obtained [[death crystal]]s. Sky Lynx carried his team to [[Dread (planet)|Dread]], where he was again forced to intercede, rescuing Blurr from a swamp while simultaneously leading the counter offensive against the Predacons. Did they not learn their last painful lesson in humility on Io? They made another attempt during the battle at [[Queeg Mountain]], but even as Sky Lynx attempted to enlighten them on the error of their ways, a lucky shot destroyed the rock he was standing on. Sky Lynx lent his skill and finesse to the assault on [[Paradron]] after the planet was conquered by the Decepticons. While his beauty was gracing the entrance to a peace conference, Sky Lynx was approached by Ultra Magnus, who needed a ride to some dingy asteroid or other to save the galaxy. Sky Lynx took him there and helped him fight off a small swarm of some disgusting alien parasites. Unfortunately he was unable to fit through the corridors of the storage asteroid and thus couldn't help defeat the Decepticons, but he could at least take Ultra Magnus, Wheelie and Daniel to safety before the asteroid exploded. {{storylink|Surprise Party}} After Sky Lynx dropped Kup and [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]] off at [[Autobot City]], there was a dreadful kerfuffle resulting in him transporting a group of Autobots to [[Unicron]]'s head. While he was parked outside, [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] attacked, and Sky Lynx was forced to retreat to a safe distance, from where he was later able to swoop in and rescue Ultra Magnus and his team. {{storylink|Ghost in the Machine}} During an [[isodrite]] mining operation, Sky Lynx alerted his fellows to incoming Decepticons. During a journey to through the [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]] sector, Sky Lynx came under attack by [[Astrotrain (G1)|another pretender to the shuttle throne]]. The two proceeded to engage in combat, until both were fired upon by the [[Junkion (species)|Junkions]]. Though the Junkions posed no threat to one of Sky Lynx's skill, he recognized that their actions were out of place, and sped with all possible haste back to Cybertron, informing [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] of their out-of-character actions. Despite acknowledging his "ace work", Rodimus, for some reason, dispatched those [[Aerialbot (G1)|uncouth flyboys]] to investigate. However, Sky Lynx proved his undeniable talents by rescuing [[Superion (G1)|their combined form]] from imminent destruction. {{storylink|The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)|The Big Broadcast of 2006}}

When [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] detected a Quintesson signal, he naturally dispatched Sky Lynx to investigate. Unfortunately the planet from which the signal emanated proved to be covered in vegetation, preventing Sky Lynx's otherwise flawless chassis from landing and forcing him to send his passengers, [[Outback (G1)|Outback]] and [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] instead. He was nonetheless able to provide air support against the Predacons, and spirited away the Autobots along with the [[Quintesson Journal]] they'd found. Alas, he was subsequently seized by the Quintessons. No sooner had he and his chums escaped that predicament, than they were set upon by Decepticons, who blew a hole in Sky Lynx's side and stole the journal. While they battled over control of the journal, the Quintessons reclaimed their toy, and Sky Lynx was later able to extract it from the Quintesson ship by deftly cutting a hole in the hull at exactly the right point. He could then return the journal to the peace conference, where its contents were used to settle a centuries-old war. {{storylink|The Quintesson Journal}} On one occasion, Sky Lynx's normally-superb gyros malfunctioned, causing him to crash on Cybertron. It later transpired that the glitch had been caused by anti-electrons and thus was outside Sky Lynx's control. {{storylink|Grimlock's New Brain}}

Later still, during a skirmish on [[Earth]]'s [[Moon (moon)|Moon]], superior forces arrived to save the Autobots in the form of Sky Lynx, though the brutish [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] dared challenge him. However, before Sky Lynx could deliver what would have likely been a stunning finishing blow, the other [[Primitive|vulgars]] were drawn away from the battle by a voice in the distance. For some reason, his magnificence was included in this motley crew and was even forced to voyage with them to the far reaches of space, a sojourn they surely could not have made themselves without Sky Lynx's intellect and sense of direction. Upon landing, Sky Lynx took command of that ill-tempered, uncivilized group of evolutionary throwbacks and directed them in a proper manner, a task which nearly exceeded his incredible skill. However, upon finding the caller, [[Oracle (G1)|the fool]] had the audacity to call him Primitive! Can you imagine? Unfortunately for Sky Lynx, the menace [[Tornedron]] was too much even for him. {{storylink|Call of the Primitives}}

Finding Galvatron bashing on a [[quadrant lock|strange disc]] in space, Sky Lynx released his passengers to investigate. He was unable to prevent them from being sucked through the disc into a sealed region of space, however after the seal was broken, he joined them on the newly-freed world of [[Zamojin (planet)|Zamojin]]. {{storylink|The Face of the Nijika}} Sky Lynx carried Rodimus Prime and Kup to [[Japan]] during a Decepticon attack, arriving in time to prevent [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] from shooting [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]]. Kup even complemented him on his shooting, but Sky Lynx just responded "I know". Once they'd landed, Sky Lynx passed on the message that Rodimus was wanted at the Imperial Palace by an irate [[Prime Minister of Japan|Prime Minister]]. {{storylink|The Burden Hardest to Bear}}

In one of his most successful endeavours, Sky Lynx's unquestioned skills were called into play yet again when Rodimus Prime required a [[Quintesson]] during the [[Hate Plague]] crisis. With his customary flair and talent, not to mention amazing speed, Sky Lynx located and retrieved one, who subsequently restored [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] to life. Jolly good show! Just as Sky Lynx hoped, Optimus Prime knew how to stop the Hate Plague. {{storylink|The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1}} Sky Lynx accompanied Optimus Prime to obtain the heat resistant alloy from Galvatron. When Galvatron attempted to betray the Autobots, Sky Lynx's swift speed enabled him to grab Galvatron's cannon when it was knocked away. During the retreat, Sky Lynx was blessed by not being infected by the Hate Plague despite being grabbed onto by [[Jessica Morgan]]. Truly special this was! This did not protect him being infected by Rodimus Prime later on Earth. As Predaking squashed his foes, Galvatron chuckled, having ensured that Predaking's only worthy opponent, Sky Lynx, was entangled on [[Earth]] battling Decepticons in [[New York City]]. With Sky Lynx unavailable, surely nothing could stand in Predaking's way?

[[Lieutenant Commander]] Sky Lynx, of the [[Autobot Third Air Strike Division]], {{storylink|Monstercon from Mars!}} was called upon by his old chum [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] to join the Autobots on Earth, where [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]]'s less than stellar performance as Autobot leader threatened to doom them all! (The uncouth [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] was overly obsessed with catching the rogue Autobot, [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]].) Upon the venerable Sky Lynx's arrival, Wheeljack requested that he put his considerable skills on temporary hold. What a waste of his immeasurable potential! Before too long, thankfully, Sky Lynx was at last called into action! After Grimlock tossed some [[Spacehikers|juvenile humanoids]] out the airlock of the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] into space (for "conspiring" with Blaster), Sky Lynx, with utmost aplomb, rescued them, and put to use his finest displays of agility evading those mongrel Dinobots. Indeed, Sky Lynx's feats were subverted only by the actions of another. To wit: While Sky Lynx was surrounded (which posed no true disadvantage to the ever-resourceful paragon), Blaster turned himself in to Grimlock in exchange for the guaranteed safety of Sky Lynx's young charges. {{storylink|Spacehikers!}}

However, before speedily returning the kids to their home, Sky Lynx took them to a traveling space carnival. As they had no money to pay for tickets, Sky Lynx charitably agreed to work for the carnival, while the kids were taken care of. Unfortunately, the fine print in the magnificent Autobot's contract made all of them unwilling guests of the wretched carnival. Before Sky Lynx could effect a no-doubt-brilliant escape plan, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Powermaster]]s passed by and rescued the group, saving Sky Lynx the indignity of facing down such unworthy foes as a [[Gilashark]] and [[Rorza, the Rocket-cycle Racer from Rigel III]]. {{storylink|The Cosmic Carnival}}

Sky Lynx then returned the Spacehikers to Earth with flair and dispatch. The humans, however, seemed impervious to his charm, and drove him away from Earth again with thrown produce and such. {{storylink|Monstercon from Mars!}}

Some time later, the [[Mecannibal]]s, through an unfair deception, managed to capture the magnificent Sky Lynx. While they did admit to his wondrousness, they unfortunately considered him wondrously ''tasty.'' Luckily, [[Landmine (G1)|Landmine]] and [[Cloudburst]] happened upon the impending banquet aboard the [[Mecannibals' ship]], and assisted in Sky Lynx's escape. {{storylink|Guess Who the Mecannibals Are Having for Dinner?}}

When those selfsame [[Pretender]]s later found themselves harried by [[Darkwing]] and [[Dreadwind (G1)|Dreadwind]], the noble Sky Lynx showed up to repay his debt, easily dispatching the Decepticon [[Powermaster]]s. He then explained to the Autobots that [[Hi-Test]] and [[Throttle (G1)|Throttle]] were the binary-bonded partners of the Decepticons. (Which, really, they should have been able to figure out for themselves.) The ever-helpful Sky Lynx then held the [[Nebulos|Nebulan]]s hostage while the Pretenders blackmailed the Mecannibals into reconstituting all their former victims. In an alternate future of 2006, Sky Lynx's impeccable perspicacity led him to discover suspicious activity on [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]], and he swiftly and surely reported his findings to [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]]. Rodimus recognized Sky Lynx's greatness by declaring him to be one of the best, but inexplicably sent those lesser (though still valiant) fliers, the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]], to Junkion to investigate Sky Lynx's report. Far be it for him to refuse combat, but did these fools not realize they were up against the mighty Sky Lynx, even with the Decepticon energy dampeners in effect? Sportingly, the Autobot lieutenant commander warned Starscream that it was hardly a fair match, which the Decepticon, for some reason, misinterpreted to mean that it was not fair to Sky Lynx.

Taking advantage of Starscream's gross overconfidence, Sky Lynx tipped the scales ''further'' in his favour by splitting in half into his separate lynx and dinosaur modes, then soundly thrashing the pitiful Combaticons before the shocked Starscream reactivated the energy dampeners.

Naturally, Sky Lynx's personal punching bag [[Predaking]] only appeared ''after'' his magnificence was offline, which is just typical, really. {{storylink|The Route of All Evil}}

On the first version, the rear thruster panel was connected to the body by a basic hinged piece.
