Drill Nuts (ドリルナッツ Doriru Nattsu) is a self-proclaimed genius (of the Wheeljack variety) and "Master Inventor of the Insectrons". When he's not making bombs and explosives for use in underground operations, he spends most of his free time building strange and intricate doodads. Most of it is really just junk that doesn't even work that well ("Boomerang Bomb," anyone?) but he enjoys doing it nonetheless. He has a very sarcastic personality that often comes off as rude or insulting, at least to those who fail to appreciate his genius. Drill Nuts is more at home underground than above it and is an expert at laying booby traps or popping up under an unsuspecting foe. His only real flaws are when his inventions backfire (admittedly, a fairly common occurrence) or he gets too paranoid and forgets exactly how many traps he's laid and where.

Seeking to control the mysterious and powerful Angolmois energy of the planet Gaea, Galvatron set course for the planet in his ship, the Galvaburg II, along his younger brother Megastorm, the Combatrons and the Autorollers. Knowing that the Maximal commander Convoy was sure to stand in his way, Galvatron staged a trap for his enemy, luring him into the depths of space and apparently destroying him with the explosion of an artificial planetoid. Despite the loss of their leader, Convoy's troops pursued Galvatron's forces to Gaea, but were soon captured by the Predacons. Little could Galvatron have realized, however, that the explosion did not kill Convoy, but had instead hurled him to Gaea, where the planet's Angolmois energy restored him as "Lio Convoy". In this new form, he rescued his troops, and they escaped Galvatron's clutches together. The New Forces Arrive!

Seeking alternate modes for his Predacons scan, Galvatron investigated some ruins on Gaea and discovered an ancient, but still-functional, computer. The machine provided vehicular forms for his men, but when Galvatron demanded that the computer provide him with information on the strongest vehicle and creature from Gaean history, the resultant surge of data was so powerful that it knocked him offline. White Lion, Run!

Galvatron's unconscious form was brought aboard the Galvaburg II, and he remained there, soundly sleeping, while Megastorm led the Predacons in his stead for some time. Unfortunately for Galvatron, this gave Megastorm a taste for leadership, and he eventually decided to try and dispose of his brother so that he could take his throne for good. Hauling the unconscious Galvatron off the ship, Megastorm dropped his slumbering sibling into a well of Angolmois energy, thinking it would destroy him... only for Galvatron to re-energized, and rudely awakened! Exploiting his brother's slightly disoriented state, Megastorm claimed that it was the Maximals who had thrown him in the well, and Galvatron promptly set off to eliminate Lio Convoy and his team. Unable to deal any damage to Galvatron's new drill-tank alternate mode, the Maximals tried luring the Predacon Emperor to the rim of a volcano, where he unveiled the second form he had scanned: a colossal, fire-breathing dragon! The Maximals attempted to shoot out the ledge beneath Galvatron's feet and send him falling into the mouth of the volcano, but were unsuccessful. Megastorm, however, had been observing the battle from afar, and emulated their strategy with great aplomb, sending his brother sinking into the molten lava below. Galvatron Revived

What Megastorm had not realized, however, was that Starscream had also been watching the fight, and quickly recovered Galvatron from the volcano, bringing him back to the Galvaburg II, unconscious once more and sealed in a coffin of solidified lava. Mystery of the Ancient Ruins

This situation was not to last, as Galvatron eventually awoke under his own power a little later and broke free. Seeking to slake his thirst, Galvatron came upon a stockpile of tainted oil that Starscream had brewed in order to inebriate the Insectrons as part of a plan to have them destroy the Maximals and then each other. Naturally, Galvatron was unaware of any of this and began chugging the oil down, until he was completely sozzled and proved himself to be a really mean drunk by turning on the other Predacons and chased them out of their ship. Galvatron's rampage carried him to the site of the Insectrons' drunken battle with the Maximals, where the two sides sobered up enough in order to team-up and take Galvatron down. With the Insectrons' help, Lio Convoy was able to fire a round of missiles into Galvatron's mouth, causing an explosion that hurled him into a nearby river, from which he did not emerge. The Strongest Tag Team?

Galvatron was subsequently "missing in action" for a while, spending his time tunneling around underground in vehicle mode, still not quite back in his right mind. Happening upon a pipeline set up by the Autorollers to as part of an Angolmois-energy drilling scheme, Galvatron tore the pipe in half and happily began guzzling the energy that was flowing through it. This infusion of the ever-unpredictable Angolmois caused the Predacon leader to grow to huge size, and his temper did not improve when Starscream and BB, remembering the last time he had gotten drunk, shut off the flow of energy. To stop the rampaging Galvatron, the Maximals teamed up with the Autorollers, and employed Scuba's plan to do just the opposite of what Starscream and BB had tired: force-feeding Galvatron's Angolmois energy until he was overloaded. The plan was a success, causing a huge explosion that reverted Galvatron to normal, and sent him crashing into the sea, his mind restored, and his memories of his drunken rampage lost. Galvatron Rampages

At some point, an alien device called a "teleport gate" crashlanded in the frozen wastes of planet Gaea. Sensing it might bring the Predacons great fortune, Galvatron immediately dispatched his warriors to secure it before the Maximals could. The Predacons were quickly defeated and driven away, however, the events of the battle resulted in the young Lio Junior receiving a military reprimand. Galvatron observed the hurt Lio Junior, who possessed the control unit needed to operate the teleport gate, flee into the forest on his own and hatched a scheme. Approaching the young and naive Maximal, Galvatron convinced him that the teleport gate was actually a weapon of mass destruction that would destroy all of Gaea if not shut down with the control unit. Lio Junior fell for the ruse and, after handing over the control unit, was immediately beaten and imprisoned on the Galvaburg II.

At the teleport gate, Galvatron ordered Gigastorm to summon Megatron, the most fearsome and vicious Transformer in history. Gigastorm screwed up and summoned the mighty Majin Zarak, instead. Galvatron was not displeased, though, as he considered Majin Zarak an even greater weapon than Megatron. Taking command of the behemoth in aircraft carrier mode, Galvatron steered the monster on a path of destruction toward the Maximals, defeating them all with ease. However, Lio Junior managed to escape Predacon custody and used the teleport gate to summon Optimus Primal to aid the Maximals. Primal then sent Galvatron a challenge via text message: "You think you've won, but we won't be defeated. Let us settle this. Come to point B-2." Galvatron angrily accepted the challenge and steered Majin Zarak toward point B-2.

A bad move on his part, as the location was actually a part of Optimus Primal's strategy. Point B-2 being a narrow canyon, Majin Zarak's great bulk made him ineffective in the tight arena. Majin Zarak eventually decided he'd had enough of this noise and, revealing his sentience, ejected Galvatron from his command deck and transformed into a giant kaiju. Galvatron was then picked up by Gigastorm in hovercraft mode and carried off to safety, swearing vengeance. The Maximals eventually succeeded in destroying Majin Zarak and, after sending Optimus Primal back home, destroyed the teleport gate as well Lio Convoy in Imminent Danger!

Galvatron eventually set his final plan into motion, summoning his "artificial planet", Nemesis, into Gaea's orbit. The ship then proceeded to suck all the Angolmois energy out of the planet and store it within itself. The Maximals followed Galvatron and his Predacons to Nemesis to stop him. Lio Convoy and Lio Junior merged into the Great Green Lion and narrowly defeated Galvatron in battle, thwarting his plans by ejecting the Angolmois energy from Nemesis in capsules.

Defeated but not willing to surrender, Galvatron activated his Galva-Matrix, which set off a self-destruction sequence in Nemesis. The explosion killed Galvatron, sent the Predacons drifting helplessly through outer space, and trapped all the Maximals within a wormhole.
That canyon was unguarded for a reason, and Vashik soon found his army wiped out by a river of magma. In robot mode, Galvatron's dragon-wings unfold into a pair of serrated claws that can either be angled over his shoulders, or disconnect to become a hand-held weapon called the "Galva-Claw" that features a lever-activated pinching gimmick. :Galvatron is a Predacon from the Beast Era of the Generation 1 continuity family.
An Emperor of Destruction (either "New" or self-proclaimed), Galvatron (ガルバトロン Garubatoron) journeys to Gaea in search of a powerful energy source. He is a strong and cunning warrior, though a little on the crazy and suicidal side. His younger brother, Megastorm, secretly desires to overthrow his brother and take his place as Emperor. Galvatron is well aware of this, however, and lets it slide out of love for his li'l bro.

He is incapable of not grimacing like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy, even during one of his narcolepsy attacks, unless it is...the Final Battle.
On planet Cybertron, Megatron once disagreed with Galvatron over opinions on galactic conquest and engaged him in battle over it. At the time, Megatron momentarily let his guard down and was defeated by Galvatron, who declared "Your era is over, Megatron!"

Later, Megatron noted that while Galvatron was ambitious, he cared for his underlings—and although he was loath to admit it, he acknowledged that Galvatron probably had all the regal bearing of a new Emperor of Destruction.

Galvatron could also partake in various other tasks, such as a mission to break a boulder to reveal an energon crystal hidden within before sundown, using a block in a mission to defend himself against various incoming projectiles, and missions to run across a pit-riddled field, sometimes involving hideously large bacteria he had to fend off.
As the only totally unique Predacon mold created for the Beast Wars II toyline, Galvatron is also the only figure from the series with both vehicle and animal forms, making him quite similar to a Transmetal, albeit one with a substantially more convincing vehicular mode. He lacks the vacuum metallizing traditional to Transmetals, but features a yellow marble in his chest to represent his Galva-Matrix. His purple and golden coloration is a presumably deliberate homage to his Generation 1 namesake; the color layout of his tank form in particular calls to mind Generation 1 Galvatron's cannon mode.

:Galvatron is armed with a pair of bladed missiles that are fired by two spring-loaded launchers located in the bifurcated tail of his dragon mode. These launchers wind up on his wrists in robot mode, and can be flipped forward over his fists to act as weapons in this mode. He can also wield the missiles in his fists as scythe- or axe-like melee weapons. In robot mode, Galvatron's dragon-wings unfold into a pair of serrated claws that can either be angled over his shoulders, or disconnect to become a hand-held weapon called the "Galva-Claw" that features a lever-activated pinching gimmick. His drill-tank mode features a gear-activated spinning drill, activated by pushing a large black button on his back.
**Accessories: Missile

:Galvatron transforms into a tank reminiscent of the Israel Weapons Industries Merkava main battle tank with some design elements taken from Megatron's old Neutro-Fusion Tank. The tank shows very little purple on its hull, presumably to keep it a reasonably realistic representation of a real-life tank. The tank likewise has a giant translucent orange laser cannon that can fire a translucent orange missile, also keeping in the spirit of realistic alt-modes. Upon transforming to robot mode, it looks much more like the violently insane Decepticon leader we all know and love, and shows larger areas of metallic purple. On the tank turret is the slogan "GALV-25", in reference to the franchise's 25th anniversary.

:This toy has many undocumented features in the form of small moving parts that play no role in transformation or either mode; most conspicuous are two articulated feet for the tank mode. In one of the Hasbro Q&A sessions, it was confirmed that these are remnants of an early design version of Galvatron, which would have been at a larger size class and featured a third mode as a "walking tank." It is still possible to manipulate his parts into a mode greatly resembling the original concept design.

:There were several odd paint choices used on this figure. The left arm is molded in purple plastic to properly match the rest of the robot mode... but is then painted over in tank-mode grey paint, even though the arm is not visible in tank mode at all. The vehicle mode's wheels are molded in the same translucent orange as the cannon, and then painted over with a slightly different shade of orange. Hasbro lead designer Bill Rawley commented at 2010 that these must have been paint-assignment errors.

:Galvatron's transformation is almost insanely complex for a deluxe figure. Expect this version's arms and legs to pop off regularly during transformation; the arm with the cannon on it is known to pop off rather easily, but is mind-numbingly hard to get back on. The backpack treads are also apt to fly off depending on the angle. The Henkei version (see below) is noticeably sturdier.

:Hasbro's print advertisement for this figure (featuring Galvatron in combat with Sideswipe) depicts it with the right arm held away from the body and pointing upwards... which is a pose the toy cannot actually assume, short of digital manipulation and/or breaking and creatively gluing the arm.

:Galvatron has a peculiar 5mm peg smack dab on the top of his turret, which allows him to be held in a most hilarious fashion by other Transformers who can manage the clearance around the turret's fin.

: A redeco of Universe Galvatron was released in the "Challenge at Cybertron" multi-pack along with redecoes of Cyclonus and Rodimus. This version of Galvatron, like the Henkei! figure, is intended to be accurate to the cartoon's colors, though it attempts the idea much differently.

: So far the set has only been released in Southeast Asian markets by Hasbro Malaysia, and there are currently no details about a release elsewhere.

:Henkei! Henkei! Galvatron is a redeco of Universe Galvatron. As with all Henkei releases, TakaraTomy have attempted to make the toy better resemble his cartoon counterpart, so most of the bright orange plastic from the Universe toy is now black. The shade of purple used on Henkei Galvatron is the lighter, lavender shade commonly seen on Takara's Galvatron toys, rather than the deeper purple seen on Hasbro's Galvatron toys. The left arm now retains the "correct" robot-mode plastic color, instead of being painted over in tank colors as the Hasbro version was. The gray is also lighter and a cooler shade of gray than the warm shade used on the Hasbro version.

:Galvatron features vacuum-metallized plastic, though in Galvatron's case it is the most random and illogical usage of the gimmick yet in the Henkei toyline. Galvatron's entire tank turret and the equipment on the vehicle side skirts are vacuum-metallized silver, making him one hell of a blingin' tank. His six-pack... errr, four-pack abs are likewise covered in reddish chrome, a design choice that had also been used on the 2005 "anime-colored" G1 Galvatron reissue and on Energon Galvatron.

:Also of note, the box art on the back of the packaging shows the mythical third "turret" mode, but has no instructions on how to convert the toy into it.
It was subsequently re-released in the 1990s by Takara as merchandise for the Generation 2 line in the USA. The watch featured Galvatron's torso with a clock in his chest. It included a mechanism whereby when a lever was pushed, the tiny Galvatron torso "transformed" into a full tiny Galvatron figure complete with legs, standing up on the watch band. The figure cannot be removed from the watch, but the arms do rotate.
Released as part of the line's fifth wave, Galvatron is molded in red, silver and black plastic, lacking in paint applications but featuring stickers for detail. Like most Transformers Gum model kits, Galvatron is essentially a downsized version of the regular toy, featuring all its accessories. As the name suggests, rather than chocolate, Galvatron came with a stick of gum.

:While no figure of Galvatron was released by Hasbro as part of their 1987 Decoy promotion, the Decepticon leader did have a soft rubber figure crafted in his image that was available exclusive in Japan, as part of a second wave of the figures released there by Kabaya, along with other Transformers 2010 characters. Like the other figures in this series, Galvatron was sold in a blindpacked box as part of the Transformers Ramune series, and was available in multiple colors, including red, blue and yellow.
:This vinyl figurine of Galvatron was one of two entries in the Talkformers line. Featuring only two points of articulation in the shoulders, it spoke four pullstring-activated Japanese phrases, spoken by Galvatron's Japanese voice actor, Seizō Katō. * Galvatron (1987, 1997)

:Galvatron was one of three non-transforming Super Hybrid Model vinyl figurines created in 1987 by Japanese collectables company MC Axis. Standing at about eight inches tall and featuring articulation in the neck and shoulders, Galvatron and his fellows (Rodimus Prime and Arcee) were based on their Studio OX character models, featuring much more anime-styled proportions and detailing.

: While the mass-market release of the Super Hybrid Model line was cancelled, Galvatron eventually saw the light of day as the exclusive toy for Japan 1997. The figure was initially available in two versions: "standard" purple and a translucent orange "lava bath" version limited to 100 pieces. In subsequent years, at least two more versions of this figure would be released for online sale: one that replaced the orange paint on the cannon barrel with an orange molded plastic piece, and another that replaced the entire purple body coloration with royal blue.
:A small solid blue, non-transforming super deformed model kit of Rodimus Prime was available as part of Kabaya's "Parody Deformed" line of candy toys. The fifth figure of the fourth wave (the nineteenth figure overall), he came with a "Transformers PD Type" comic about himself, "Two In One! : A three-inch tall PVC figurine of Galvatron was available in the second wave of Takara's Super Collection Figure line. Like all the figures in the "act", it was available as both a standard full color figure and a colorless translucent version, one of each of which was available in a standard case of twelve blindpacked figures.

* Galvatron (2002)
Available in the third wave of the line, he was sold in blister packaging rather than blindpacking, and included a character card.
His modular design allows his parts to be mixed and matched with those of any other MyClone figure.

:Purchasers of MyClone Galvatron also ran the chance of finding within the box not the standard cartoon-colours figure, but a translucent orange "lava" chase figure, paying homage to Galvatron's plasma bath from "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2".
**Accessories: Laser Rifle, Particle Cannon, Particle Cannon connector

: Galvatron transforms into a Cybertronic treaded field artillery unit with an alternate hand-held gun mode. Using a 9-volt battery, he has a light-up barrel in cannon or gun mode, light-up eyes in robot mode, and three different electronic warbly noises in all of his modes. Galvatron is notable as one of the most well-articulated toys in the Generation 1 line, with ratcheting shoulders and hips, as well as swivel waist, elbows, mid-biceps, knees, and ankle joints. He was also armed with a small, black laser rifle.

: The original Galvatron toy was much later redecoed and re-released by Takara into a sort-of more show-like appearance, being primarily purple instead of gray. His face mold was also slightly retooled, and he was given new sound effects, including speech clips (in Japanese, naturally). He also came with a Matrix on a chain to be worn around his neck, as in the movie. It also used two AA batteries, rather than the previous 9-volt.

: This version of the mold was later redecoed into the original toy's colors for the e-Hobby-exclusive Galvatron II.
Universe (2008)
*Galvatron (Deluxe, 2008)

*Galvatron (Deluxe, 2008)
**ID number: D-06
**Accessories: Missile

:Henkei!

*Galvatron (1990)

* Galvatron (2002)

:The Galvatron PVC was redecoed in a metallic paint scheme for the sixth wave of the Super Collection Figure series, where it was available as a rare chase figure included in only one case out of every twelve.
Available in the third wave of the line, he was sold in blister packaging rather than blindpacking, and included a character card.
His modular design allows his parts to be mixed and matched with those of any other MyClone figure.
