[[Slingshot]] and [[Skydive]] allow themselves to be captured by plane-nappers to discover who the thieves are.

==Detailed synopsis==
In an unnamed Middle Eastern country, the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbot]]s are searching for clues to a group that is stealing planes. After flying over a bazaar (in which is [[Swindle (G1)|a hauntingly familiar jeep]] being driven by a suspicious man loading equipment), the Aerialbots receive a distress call. Heading into a nearby canyon, they are attacked by the [[Combaticon]]s and [[Dirge (G1)|Dirge]], and Slingshot ends up being buried within a cave by [[Blast Off]]. However, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]], [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], and [[Hoist (G1)|Hoist]] arrive and drive off the [[Decepticon]]s. After unearthing Slingshot, the [[Autobot]]s return to a nearby air base for repairs. Slingshot is fixed, but his weapons systems have been damaged, and he needs a new console from the [[Ark (G1)|base]]. Skydive gets the idea to let himself serve as bait, which [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]], in his infinite wisdom, believes is a good idea, and Slingshot decides to join as well. As night comes, the two Aerialbots are soon stolen by the plane-nappers, but they are disassembled and their radios are disabled.

Transporting their ill-gotten planes in laundry trucks, the plane-nappers manage to get past security, but are followed by a young boy named [[Prince Jumal|Hassan]]. Getting into the truck carrying the Aerialbots' nose cones, he meets up with them and identifies the man heading this operation as [[Ali]]. As it turns out, Ali has deposed Prince Jumal, the young ruler of the country, and has allied with [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] to create both [[plane drone]]s for conquering the oil fields of the [[Middle East]], and a...[[Giant Purple Griffin]] that will...do...stuff. As the convoy reaches the Palace, the Decepticons begin reassembling the planes, but the Aerialbots cause themselves to short-circuit, leaving their parts free to be reassembled. They manage to get everything except Slingshot's chest plate, but Hassan manages to borrow the front grill assembly from a car that Prince Jumal owned.

As the Decepticons prepare to mobilize, Skydive and Slingshot manage to contact the other Aerialbots, who come to help. Meanwhile, Hassan has slipped aboard the...fortress to steal a new weapons console for Slingshot. As the Aerialbots arrive, Blast Off, [[Vortex]], and [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] take control of the drone forces. The Aerialbots are able to dispatch the drones and their commanders, so [[Onslaught]] decides to off them himself, only to be stopped by Slingshot. Blast Off orders the Combaticons to [[transformation|transform]] into [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]]. Slingshot bravely tries to prevent the merge, as [[Fireflight]]'s absence prevents his own team from merging into [[Superion (G1)|Superion]]. Eventually, Bruticus forms after Slingshot is thrown into the head of the now mobile...fortress. Hassan gets a weapon console to Slingshot, frees them, then heads to attack Bruticus. Fireflight finally arrives, and the Aerialbots form Superion and damage the...fortress, causing it to crash into an oil field. Superion separates into his Aerialbot components, causing the diving Bruticus to fall into the oil field. The Aerialbots then set fire to the field, forcing the Decepticons to retreat.

At the palace, the Aerialbots are trying to figure out what to do with Ali and what he did with Prince Jumal, only to discover that Hassan ''is'' Prince Jumal. He explains that Slingshot may keep the new chest plate as a gift, as Jumal's hobby is fixing old junk cars. Slingshot feels honored...until he thinks that Jumal is calling him a piece of junk.

Torca was one of the [[protoforms]] jettisoned from the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' on prehistoric [[Earth]]. He was activated and put in chronal phase by [[Razorbeast]] at [[Magmatron (BW)|Magmatron]]'s request, but was protected from Magmatron's Predacon shell-program by Razorbeast's viral code.

Soon after awakening, he joined up with [[K-9]], [[Bantor]], [[Stinkbomb]], [[Armordillo]], and [[Noctorro]]. During their journey to meet up with Razorbeast, Torca got stuck in some mud. He needed the help of his new travelling companions to free him. After following Razorbeast's signal for days, and picking up more Maximals along the way, Torca exploded into battle (sporting a painted Maximal symbol on his shoulder!) against Magmatron's [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]]s. The giant Fuzor tipped the scales, allowing the Maximals to win that altercation. The united group awaited rescue from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]].

* The sculpt and design for the beast modes of Torca (and likely [[Bantor]]) have a somewhat dubious history. An eagle-eyed fan spotted the distinctive beast form amidst the online portfolio of a concept designer around 2002. Upon contacting the designer ("Khang" as per the signatures on the art), he was unaware that his designs had been put to use. This is likely a case of miscommunication between Hasbro, a subcontracted design firm, and the concept artist.

*In Beast Wars: The Gathering, Torca is one of the few Transformers to not have a typical insignia. His insignias in beast form are mutated and blotched to match his Fuzor skin.

'''Cheetor''' is full of youthful overconfidence. He's also the fastest Maximal on four legs, though, so he gets into way too much trouble. Thankfully, [[Optimus Primal]] keeps a steady eye on him. In return, Cheetor has grown to idolize Primal, whom he calls "Big Bot." Optimus Primal knows the young and inexperienced Cheetor needs a good role model, so he doesn't mind too much. And, hey, he's a good kid. Just... keep him away from [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], okay? Impressionable minds, and all.

After the [[Axalon]] crash-landed on the mysterious planet, the most youthful crew member of the disabled ship chose a cheetah as his new beast form. Impressed with his own appearance, the young 'bot renamed himself Cheetor.

Far too frequently, Cheetor looked up to Optimus Primal enough to rush out in an all-too eager attempt to prove himself. He seemed to botch as many missions as he carried out successfully; he broke an experimental communicator, rushed into combat, got himself captured by [[Tarantulas]], and set up remote survey posts in the middle of a lightning storm on a bed of unstable energon crystals.

It seems Cheetor also trusted [[Dinobot]] more than the rest of his crew. When Optimus Primal was feared dead {{Storylink|Chain of Command}} a vote was held to decide whether [[Rattrap]] or [[Dinobot]] would lead the Maximals. Naturally, both parties voted for themselves, but as Rhinox read out the votes, he was only surprised by Dinobot's second vote. This would lead us to believe that he did NOT vote for Dinobot, and that it must have been Cheetor.

When the [[quantum surge]] from the explosion of the [[Planet Buster]] engulfed the planet, Cheetor's exostructure was mutated into a shiny new [[Transmetal]] body. Along with a tougher metal hide and built-in weaponry, his beast mode gained the ability to fly via two powerful thrusters in his body. Unfortunately, his first attempt at flying led him on a one-way trip into a bulkhead. As Rattrap later remarked after a disastrous rescue attempt, a few flying lessons wouldn't hurt. {{Storylink|Aftermath}}

While supporting [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge's]] attack on Megatron's perverse cloning experiments, Cheetor came in contact with the direct energy beam of the [[transmetal driver]], causing a massive explosion that made his fellow Maximals believe he was dead. However, he was seriously damaged and wandered around for megacycles afterwards, not knowing where he was, before he finally stumbled back to base.

Refusing treatment in the CR chamber, he was prone to hallucinations, panic attacks, paranoia, and delirium. He escaped the base and would rest for hours at a time, only to awaken and find himself somewhere foreign, his gears exhausted. {{Storylink|Feral Scream, Part 1}}

In reality, his Transmetal body was in conflict with the alien "Transmetal 2" power infused into it by the transmetal driver. While unconscious, he would undergo a mutation into a feral beast that acted with savagery and aggression. With Optimus Primal's help, he finally gained control of the power and rejoined the rest of the Maximals, who were surprised at the rapid changes to him. {{Storylink|Feral Scream, Part 2}}

This 'new' Cheetor regularly lost his temper, particularly with Rattrap. Still, he was considerably less reckless, and all of his decisions seemed to have a casual air of confidence and a youthful belief in invincibility. At heart, he was still Optimus's little guy.

At the start of [[Beast Machines]], Cheetor was stripped of his transmetal 2 power and was thrust into a dark and unfriendly world. As a result he relapsed slightly into the dependent bot that he was at the start of the first series, idolizing Optimus Primal and blindly following orders. However, as he slowly got a handle on his new situation the maturity Cheetor had gained during the beast wars seemed to come full circle. He acted calmer, frequently took over leadership in place of Optimus Primal, and overall acted more 'adult'. (The role of 'kid' was taken over by [[Nightscream]].)

After Optimus Primal and Megatron fell into the organic core, starting the Cybertron-wide reformatting, the Oracle spoke to Cheetor's mind, possibly suggesting that Optimus Primal passed his communication abilities to Cheetor as he died.

* The first Cheetor toy experienced a delayed initial release, coming several weeks after the first wave. This is likely due to a change made to his "tail gun", which on the toy is much different from the version glimpsed in catalogues, commercials, and toy packaging cross-sells. The prototype gun is held via a handle on the topside of the tail rather than underneath the haunches and has a small blue gunbarrell that flips out. The reason why this change was made or whether it was the actual cause of the delay is currently unknown.

* It's interesting to note that Cheetor fired the first shots of the Beast Wars. First he shot at Waspinator, unprovoked, and again at Megatron while Optimus was attempting to negotiate. What a little rascal.

* Aside from [[Tigatron]], Cheetor is the only character in ''[[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]'' who is definitely [[Scale|in the correct scale]] to the lifeform he has adopted as a beast-mode. As a result, Cheetor has the odd distinction of being the yardstick by which other BW characters' scale inconsistencies can measured.

* Mainframe's original plan for Transmetal Cheetor was to have his face mature over the course of the season, from a big-eared, wide-eyed, rounded face into one close to the toy. Also, he would have had a "Hero's Heart" which glowed after completing brave or heroic feats, somewhat akin to the classic anime character "Astro Boy". Due to time and financial restrictions, none of these concepts panned out. Thankfully.
