==Synopsis==

Three years ago, at Garrus-9 penitentiary, Fortress Maximus and his subordinate Kick-Off deal with a massive Decepticon assault on the prison. Kick-Off smells an inside job, while Fortress Maximus replies that only he has the codes to the Garrus-9 doors - good thing too.

Decepticon general Skyquake intends to take the facility for Megatron, but is interrupted by the arrival of Overlord. All the Decepticons are in awe of him, terrified as well. Refusing the Overlord's request for him to relinquish command, Skyquake is shot in the back; Overlord then leads the Decepticons in storming the prison and slaughtering its defenders. He offers the freed prisoners the entire planet as a source of entertainment, free from the narrow whims of Megatron. As a game, Overlord throws the battered body of Fortress Maximus to the mob, saying all they have to do is try not to kill him.

Eight months ago, Ironfist, Guzzle, Rotorstorm and Pyro are scolded by annoying the local reconstruction manager, Dipstick (talk about unfortunate names), for blowing up the fuel depot with their new guns. Guzzle says that's what Wreckers do. Ultra Magnus' ship arrives. Only Pyro farewells the manager Dipstick in a civil manner, but is blown off by Dipstick. The bots leave on Ultra Magnus' ship, becoming the newest Wreckers.

On board they are greeted by Verity Carlo, one of the humans who made first contact with the Autobots on Earth. They're dubious as to her being a Wrecker, but Springer walks in (with Twin Twist, Kup, Perceptor and Topspin) and informs them that none of them are, yet. The situation on Garrus-9 is explained; it's been overrun by the Cons, but any attempt by other Cons to get in has been blown out of orbit with extreme prejudice. The new Wreckers are there to investigate. Springer explains to the new guys the dangers of Wreckership; being a Wrecker means your first day could be your last.

Two years ago, the Garrus-9 Decepticons have started hunting Autobots as sport. A purple Con subdues the Autobot being hunted, but his cockiness catches him off guard and the Autobot leaps at his throat. Overlord kills the Autobot and then the purple Con, explaining to the others that any bot that careless was wasting his life and therefore wasting Overlord's time.

On Ultra Magnus's ship, Ironfist suffers a mysterious blackout, It's revealed he was a journalist who wrote extensive datalogs on the Wreckers, under the alias Fisitron - to the amazement of Twin Twist and Topspin. Wreckers old and new talk, while Springer notices Ironfist may be hiding something. Springer himself seems burdened by the danger of Wreckership, wondering if there's any point to forming these teams for the Wreckers, only to have them blown apart at a moment's notice. Kup remarks that Springer can't stop thinking about Impactor. Springer replies that it's hard but not impossible, walking off scowling. They're then interrupted by a call to the bridge.

One month earlier, Overlord watches as Kick-Off battles the Decepticon Borehole in gladiatorial combat; the Autobot viciously beats his opponent, kicking him down. Borehole pleads with Kick-Off reminding him he's an Autobot. Kick-Off replies that being an Autobot means nothing on Garrus-9. With that, he rips Borehole's head off. Overlord is pleased and invites Kick-Off into his quarters, where he says Kick-Off may choose his reward.

On Magnus' ship, they witness the battered hull of a Decepticon dropship, which detonates even as they watch. They prepare to fire as a single form flies from the explosion towards them, but Kup stops them as they recognize the damaged Cybertronian before them. To their shock and amazement, they realize it is ... IMPACTOR. He asks permission to come aboard...

'''Roadbuster''' is a powerful and charismatic fighter. Usually armed to the teeth, he's an inspiration to other Autobots in combat and a natural leader on any battlefield. Outside of combat though, his natural ease and surety fail him. He simply doesn't know how to handle life out of combat. He becomes the quietest of the Autobots, grows withdrawn and depressed, and is easily bored. He counters this by spending most of his free time between battles either planning for the next one or "demolishing" any random Decepticons he can find. Some Autobots worry about what will become of the heroic and well-loved Roadbuster they know if the war ever ends. Combat truly is his life and without it, he might just fade away.

Roadbuster is a member of the elite [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] unit in, well, every continuity he's ever appeared in.

Roadbuster was stationed on [[Earth]]. The Autobots' initially failed to stop a new plan of Megatron's to take millions of people hostage, but came back to fight again once they were repaired. When [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] went missing in a [[Space Bridge]] accident, Roadbuster was part of an elite force of Autobots known as the Wreckers who broke off as an independent faction, led by Springer. Much of their efforts were concentrated on keeping [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]'s [[Ultracon|Ultracons]] contained inside [[Polyhex]] and away from the [[Tagan Heights]], an area which contributed to a full 40% of Cybertron's manufacturing potential. Much later Roadbuster, critically low on energy, was ambushed by a group of Decepticon [[Micromaster|Micromasters]] and defeated by them. When [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] released the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]] from their imprisonment in Cybertron's [[Detention Banks]], the Wreckers were sent in to deal with the escapees. Before the war Roadbuster fulfilled his violent desires by being a member of the [[Kaon]] security services. However, while he attended mission briefings he seemed mysteriously absent from funerals and actual battles. Maybe he was actually an overly emotional pacifist back then. {{storylink|Megatron Origin}}

Many stellar cycles later, Roadbuster was operating in the elite Autobot special ops Wreckers unit. As a heavy weapons specialist, he carried more armament than an entire Decepticon Assault Group. He used this armament against the Decepticons holed up in their [[Infiltration protocol|siege mode]] armature on the world of [[Varas Centralus]] in the [[Kol]] system. During the battle he handed Springer a comm-unit with an urgent call from Operations Command: orders from Optimus Prime himself redeploying the Wreckers to Cybertron. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 2}}

After the Wreckers arrived on Cybertron, Roadbuster saved [[Nosecone (G1)|Nosecone]] and [[Afterburner (G1)|Afterburner]] from a group of [[Centurion droid|Centurion droids]], before having [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] evacuate the two unconscious [[Technobot (G1)|Technobots]] out of the area. After the Wreckers blasted their way into [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s base and very, very, very quickly defeated the cultists, Roadbuster and Whirl rescued [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] from where he and the other Technobots were being recycled into raw materials. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 3}} After [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] returned to Cybertron, Roadbuster, [[Scoop (G1)|Scoop]] and [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]] served as advanced scouts, watching the giant [[Pretender]]'s activity. They legged it when Thunderwing unleashed a wave of destruction in memory of his failed attempts to convince Megatron and the scientific community of Cybertron to support his experimentation. As the battle was joined, Roadbuster's group tried to get Thunderwing's attention, but were blown away by a thunderous clap of his giant hands. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 4}}

Much later, the Wreckers were called in by [[Hound (G1)|Hound]]'s unit to fight Thunderwing on [[Corata-Vaz]]. Roadbuster was part of the vehicle mode ground assault, but all the Autobot combatants were blown away by the monster's ionic discharge. {{storylink|Spotlight: Hardhead}} Thunderwing eventually assumed his powered-up [[Super Mode|Ultra Mode]], and Roadbuster poured hundreds of rounds into the being's left flank before Jetfire came up with an idea to take control of Thunderwing. {{storylink|Spotlight: Doubledealer}}

Jetfire managed to gain remote control using Bludgeon's old axis cradle trick, and the Wreckers slipped past to disable the [[Nega-Core]] that Thunderwing had been guarding. Jetfire eventually lost control and Thunderwing turned back to advance on Roadbuster and the others as they futilely poured firepower into the massive Pretender. {{storylink|Spotlight: Sideswipe}}

Some time later, more than half of the Wreckers were captured and imprisoned by the Decepticon commander [[Turmoil]] and his crew. The recently rehabilitated [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] led a rescue team that included Roadbuster to infiltrate Turmoil's ship. There, they ran into [[Drift (G1)| Drift]], who was also trying to rescue the captured Wreckers. Roadbuster and the others managed to rescue their comrades and Kup formally offered Drift a spot on a new unit he was planning to form. {{storylink|Spotlight: Drift}}

Subsequently, Roadbuster appeared as part of the crew of the starship [[Trion]], under Kup's command. Receiving a distress call from [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]], Kup's team went to rescue him. They found Hot Rod being menaced by Bludgeon and the [[Pretender Monster|Monstructor Six]]. Bludgeon quickly commanded the team to merge into [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]] and the [[gestalt]] easily brushed Roadbuster aside, knocking off his shoulder cannon. But Monstructor was soon thereafter defeated when [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] demonstrated his newly-honed sniping skills. Bludgeon opted to retreat in his ship and the crew of the Trion, now joined by Hot Rod, went in pursuit of the fleeing Decepticons. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 15}}

The Trion was eventually lured into an enemy ambush, and had its defenses disabled due to its command codes having been gleaned from an Autobot traitor. Forced to crash-land, Roadbuster was stranded with the remainder of the ship's crew on the surface of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], using their former ship as a base of operations. They eventually met up with the demoralized crew of the incapacitated Optimus Prime. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 5}}

After the Trion's crew had settled in, [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and Roadbuster had a little chat outside, where Roadbuster revealed how frustrated he was that they had been taken down by the Decepticons without even a chance to shoot back. Noting Roadbuster's eagerness for a fight, Ironhide began to tell him something, but caught sight of a strange creature in the distance. It turned out to be an advance scout of the [[Insecticon swarm]], and Roadbuster immediately notified Kup of its presence. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 6}}

The Autobots soon relocated their base-camp, and in his vehicle mode, Roadbuster served as a mobile command platform for Kup to ride on and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] to snipe from as they traveled. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 7}}

After Optimus Prime was repaired and the Autobots prepared to make their final stand against the Insecticon swarm, [[Wheeljack (G1)| Wheeljack]] removed and modified one of the Trion's cannons to be used as a mounted turret for Roadbuster to fire. Roadbuster was quite enamored with the weapon and wanted to give it a name. When the swarm attacked, Roadbuster managed to destroy quite a few of them with his new cannon. But eventually he was forced to shove the cannon off its mount to crush a few of the Insecticon horde as they scaled the walls of the Autobots' temporary fortress. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 10}}

After the Autobots returned to Earth aboard [[Omega Supreme (G1)| Omega Supreme]], Roadbuster jumped into battle alongside his comrades against the Decepticons. He grappled with [[Astrotrain (G1)| Astrotrain]] and overpowered him, disappointed that the Decepticon turned out to be a "lightweight". Two years later, he's still on Earth. When Optimus Prime chose to surrender to [[Skywatch]], Hot Rod and some like-minded individuals broke off from the main Autobot force to find a way off the planet. * Both [[Deluxe Vehicle|Deluxe Vehicles]] were licensed from [[Takatoku Toys]] by [[Hasbro]] for inclusion in the 1985 line, and hence were not included in the Japanese line, the [[The Transformers (cartoon)|cartoon]], or the [[The Transformers (Marvel comic)|US Marvel comics]]. Roadbuster was originally "Mugen Calibur" from the ''Dorvack'' toyline.
