His tail is segmented to "whip" freely (like a great many plastic snake toys), plus he has a soft-plastic "bladder" in his mouth that squirts water by pressing on the panel at the top of the snake-mode's hood. :Headstrong is a Decepticon Predacon from the Generation 1 continuity family.

You can tell Headstrong that a three-foot-thick steel tank is full of dangerously radioactive waste, but it won't do a lick of good if he thinks you've hidden the energon goodies in it. He'll attack it with his unbreakable ramming head and acid-dripping horn until he's conclusively proven wrong, then retreat with his well-earned wounds to suck his thumb, still convinced deep in his tiny brain that somebody had tricked him.

Despite such mishaps, Headstrong still plugs away. He believes that tenacity can compensate those minor qualities in which he's lacking, such as strength, intelligence, or courage. To his credit, not a few of his allies seem to subscribe to this philosophy, and Headstrong isn't dead yet.

Best and brightest he may not be, but he's always ready to grab his diffraction sword and start waving it around. It affects his opponent's optics, so that where they see Headstrong, that's where he ain't. It's unfortunate that his own eyesight isn't much better. A distant foe must beware Headstrong's glowing plasma spheres, which explode on contact. Woe to the one who touches Headstrong's balls!

Headstrong and his fellow Predacons can combine to form Predaking, but he'll only do it when he wants to do it.

Generation 1
noteukonly
Seeking an edge over his rival Optimus Prime, Megatron followed Soundwave's suggestion that they enlist the help of the Predacons from Cybertron. However, unbeknownst to Megatron, the Predacons had additional orders from Shockwave to turn on Megatron at a crucial moment and they did, right after hunting down Prime. Prey! Megatron summoned a space bridge to escape and Optimus threw them both through it, leaving the Predacons on Earth. The Harder They Die!

Fortunately for Headstrong and the other Predacons, Megatron lost his memory of this incident when Straxus attempted to take over his body. Resurrection!

On returning to Cybertron, the Predacons were surprised when Shockwave contacted Razorclaw with orders to travel to Earth and kill Megatron again. Disguised as Autobots, they attacked Megatron when he was alone and Headstrong impaled Megatron's groin on his horn. Ouch. Nevertheless, despite his injuries and their ability to merge into Predaking, Megatron sent them packing. Gone but Not Forgotten!

Bored of life on Earth, the Predacons destroyed a human circus for fun, but were interrupted by the Dinobot Swoop, who started to beat up on Divebomb. Headstrong and the others leapt to their comrade's defence, but were attacked in turn by the rest of Grimlock's Dinobots; Headstrong was seen fighting Slag and Snarl. Although the Dinobots were nominally victorious, Swoop convinced Grimlock to let the Predacons go. Grudge Match!

Under Ratbat's command, the Predacons raided liquid oxygen from a chemical storage facility near Huntsville, Alabama. As retaliation for this aggression, the human organisation Triple-I declared it would execute the captive Throttlebots if there was another giant robot attack. Predictably, the Decepticons attacked again, though Walter Barnett rescued the Autobots' brain modules before their bodies were destroyed. Attacking Triple-I's Oregon headquarters to verify the kill, Ratbat and the Predacons tracked the Autobots' scent to Sparkplug Witwicky's garage, and when he refused to help them they destroyed the building with him inside it. They ultimately caught up with the Throttlebots at a nearby mall, but Headstrong and the Predacons proved utterly ineffectual at capturing them. Toy Soldiers!

After the Club Con debacle, the Decepticons relocated to the Arctic, where they were approached by a seemingly hostile ship. Although it was revealed that the ship contained Scorponok's faction of Decepticons, relations between the two groups soon turned sour and when the Headmaster commander kicked Headstrong up in the air, it led to an all-out battle on the frozen wasteland. This time, Headstrong was seen to impale Bomb-Burst on his horn. Cold War!

The two forces of Decepticons united with the Autobots when it was discovered that the whole situation had been engineered by Starscream to acquire the power of the Underbase for himself. Falling under the joint command of Grimlock and Scorponok, Headstrong engaged Starscream in Tokyo, but stood little chance and was killed along with the rest of the Predacons by a wave of the Seeker's hand. Dark Star

Headstrong was one of Shockwave's minions when the Decepticon army split into two factions led by ol' one-eye and Megatron. When their fight for power and control grew too critical, they called an Enclave to discuss reuniting against the Autobots. Headstrong hardly cared about the politics — he was just so happy to see the hor d'oeuvres table! The happy little rhino spent most of the night stuffing his face and getting blitzed on the punch. The Autobots came by to ruin his party, however, as they couldn't allow a unified Decepticon army to stand against them. So... Jazz cold-conked the already tipsy Headstrong and dragged him away into the shadows. Then, the Autobots staged "sniper fire" against Megatron and, when he and his Decepticons fired back, they tossed the unconscious Headstrong and his weapon down as if he'd been hit. Thinking Shockwave had sent the Predacon as an assassin, Megatron called a quick and violent end to the truce, and the two factions returned to open warfare with each other. Primus only knows how Headstrong explained himself when he came to. The Bad Guy's Ball!

Some time later, Headstrong was briefly seen charging the Autobot Earthbase with his fellow Decepticons during a siege. Divide and Conquer!
Generation 2
Having recovered from his apparent death in the battle against the Underbase-powered Starscream, Headstrong rejoined the rest of the Decepticons serving under Bludgeon and latterly Megatron. During the Autobot/Decepticon alliance's battle against the Cybertronian Empire he, Weirdwolf, and the Dinobots had lots of fun counting kills and munching metal. Total War!

Headstrong was dispatched to Io with the other Predacons to steal Metroplex's transformation cog. During the battle, the Predacons combined into Predaking, only to be defeated by Sky Lynx. Razorclaw retreated, despite Headstrong's objections. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

Headstrong and the Predacons were next seen guarding Galvatron's death crystal cannon on the planet Dread. When the Autobots arrived, Headstrong and Tantrum almost managed to shut Blurr up permanently by knocking him into quickmud, but Sky Lynx pulled him to safety. Chaos (episode)

On a mission to drain the planet Paradron of its rich energy resources, the Decepticons managed to conquer its peaceful population with ease. One Paradronian named Sandstorm got away and brought back an Autobot strike force, however. Once they were spotted, Galvatron ordered Headstrong and Brawl to man the molecular cannon and blow them away. Both warriors were probably real eager to fire, but once Brawl said it was time to take the shot, Headstrong just had to be difficult and stall a few moments more until he was "good and ready". Decepticons and their personality problems... Fight or Flee

When the Predacons later attempted to ambush Rodimus Prime and his soldiers on Cybertron, their battle was interrupted by a Quintesson dream machine that surrounded the Transformers with a fog-filled landscape and subjected them to nightmarish torments plucked from the subconscious of Daniel Witwicky. After Springer and Razorclaw were carried off by a dragon, the Predacons reluctantly stopped fighting the Autobots long enough to deal with their lost leader. Headstrong was particularly edgy around the Autobots, and warned Rodimus Prime to stay out of his way. Headstrong thought the worst was over when "Galvatron" showed up in a House of Mirrors, not recognizing the unusual size and behavior of his commander. Even after "Galvatron" spontaneously grew several stories taller and began to crush Rodimus and Headstrong in his hands, Headstrong was still pulling the "It's me, Galvatron! Don't you recognize me?!" routine. Pure instinct; no brains. Headstrong's leg was seriously injured by the crushing vise of the false Galvatron's grip, and his damage prevented the Predacons from forming Predaking and continuing the fight with the Autobots after the Quintesson machine was destroyed. Nightmare Planet

Later, Headstrong and the Predacons were battling the Dinobots on a lifeless planetoid. Headstrong was tripped up by Grimlock in battle, flipping over onto his back. Give how he kept bouncing after the impact, you'd think he was made of jello. Headstrong and the other Primitives were then summoned to fight Tornedron. During the trip to meet Primacron's Assistant, Headstrong, being a wise and intelligent construct, picked another fight with the Dinobots, saying "Grimlock don't know nothing." Snarl objected to the opinion of the "stupid Decepticon rhino," and a brawl among the Primitives ensued. It was ended when Trypticon shook himself to throw the Primitives around. After Sky Lynx and Trypticon had their energy drained, the Primitives split up, fleeing for their lives. Detesting their cowardice, Headstrong declared that he should die fighting, and Razorclaw ordered the Predacons to form Predaking. However, their energy was sucked away, only to be restored when Grimlock destroyed Tornedron. Call of the Primitives

The Headmasters cartoon
Headstrong and the Predacons were part of Galvatron's strike force on Cybertron in 2011, seeking to wrest control of Vector Sigma from the Autobots. Along with the Headmasters and Stunticons, the Predacons outmaneuvered the Dinobots and Throttlebots into the bottom of a canyon, and began firing down upon them. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky Later, the Predacons traveled to Earth in order to stymie Hot Rod's attempt to locate the Matrix of Leadership. Headstrong's unit found the former Autobot leader in the Arctic, but were held off by Blaster, his Mini-Cassettes, and Superion. Headstrong fought his fellow rhinocerous, Ramhorn, before cheating and turning into robot mode. The Mystery of Planet Master Headstrong and the Predacons were among the Decepticons Galvatron brought with him to the planet Beest, although they were absent during the Autobot attack that drove the Decepticons off. Rebellion on Planet Beast

When the Autobots created a new kind of metal on Cybertron called Cybertonuron, Galvatron wanted to claim it for himself. He sent Headstrong and the Predacons to Cybertron as an advance guard to pave the way for his forces. Headstrong spotted the Autobots' civilian soldiers and opened fire, quickly joined by his fellow Predacons. They mowed down Cybertron's standing guardians and began to wreak havoc on the planet. Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1 Headstrong and the Predacons assembled as Predaking to help Scourge and Cyclonus steal the Sol 1 satellite, but they were driven off by Raiden and the Headmasters. The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok Next, Headstrong and the Predacons helped Scorponok stage a crisis to keep the Autobots distracted, by setting off a volcano in Peru.
As Scorponok began his plan to capture the plasma energy of Mars by blowing it up, Headstrong and the Predacons stood guard on Mars as the Terrorcons began planting the necessary bombs. When the Trainbots stumbled across the plot, the Predacons started up a firefight to dispose of the meddling Autobots. With Daniel Witwicky and Wheelie missing, the Trainbots tagged out with the Autobot Headmasters to go looking for them. Razorclaw gave the order and Predaking was formed. Unfortunately, even Predaking was no match for Transtector power, and he was felled by a quadruple jump kick by the Headmasters. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! As Scorponok abandoned Earth in favor of conquering Master, Headstrong was one of his many troops seen attacking the planet's fortifications. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2) He also helped retrofit the Zarak Shield out of indestructible G-Metal so that it could stand up to the Master Sword. The Zarak Shield Turns the Tide
Headstrong and the Predacons were warlords on ancient Cybertron, exiled from the planet under circumstances unknown. It is believed that Starscream named his Dark Ages faction in their honor. Landing on the planet Beest, the Predacons devolved into feral beasts over the years, until Megatron arrived on the planet in recent times and tamed them. He repaired their damaged circuitry, gave the Predacons the combined form of Predaking and, most importantly, programmed them to be loyal only to him. Welcome to the Jungle He then used Headstrong and the others to help him reclaim control of the Decepticons, first by overthrowing Shockwave on Cybertron Lost and Found (issue), and later putting the beat down on Starscream and his brigade on Earth. The Route of All Evil
With no source of energy, they were forced to form an alliance with China, who would provide the Predacons with energon in exchange for them protecting the nation's borders. Led by Rampage, they intervened when a battle between the Autobots (allied with Skywatch) and the Combaticons (allied with North Korea) got too close for comfort. International Incident Part 3: "Hawk Among the Sparrows"

At first, Headstrong and the others were willing to leave without a fight, but after Onslaught shot Rampage in the back, they assumed the Autobots were to blame and threw themselves into the fray. They ultimately fled after learning that Russia had launched a nuke to take out all the Transformers, and later abandoned China after Thundercracker took out the humans' energon factories. International Incident Part 4: "All My Sins Remembered"
The Mecannibals were a large supplier of microchips, forming them from the mechanical beings they consumed.

Starscream's Underbase-power rampage severely injured many Autobots, damaging millions of microchips. Optimus Prime then tasked Landmine and Cloudburst with purchasing microchips with energon cubes on the black market at Grand Central Space Station.

At the Space Station's Asteroid Alley, Landmine and Cloudburst found Hi-Test and Throttle, who, in disguise, offered microchips supplied from the Mecannibals. Landmine, intent on dealing with the boss, forced Hi-Test and Throttle to bring them before Master Mouth. Despite a distraction provided by the presence of Sky Lynx, the two got their microchips. Guess Who the Mecannibals Are Having for Dinner?

If Ratchet is the Autobots' chief surgeon, then Hoist is their family doctor. Everyone reports to Hoist for routine check-ups and maintenance, no exceptions! A jovial, friendly robot, the up-beat Hoist enjoys his job and it shows. He speaks with a cultured British-sounding accent and can usually be found playing "Dr. Watson" to his friend Grapple's troubled artist in his off-hours.

Fiction
The Transformers cartoon
: Voice actor: Michael Chain (English), Kōki Kataoka (Japanese), Roberto Alexander (Latin American)

Hoist was among those at Autobot headquarters when the Dinobots attempted to show off how civilized they'd become. During the ensuing destruction, he watched Red Alert and Inferno rush to put out the fires. Dinobot Island, Part 1

Hoist and Grapple proposed the construction of an enormous Solar Power Tower to Optimus Prime, even showing him a darling little functioning model. Prime rejected the idea, and Hoist tried to console his friend, but Grapple was determined to find some way to build it. They encountered the Constructicons, who claimed to have left Megatron's cause and wanted to help them construct the tower. Though Hoist worried that it was a trick, he and Grapple let the Decepticons help them build the tower, at which point Megatron turned up and had the pair of them sealed into a sheet of metal and installed in the tower. It wasn't until after the other Autobots had demolished the tower that Hoist and Grapple were broken out of their improvised prison. Hoist assured Grapple that there would be other towers to build. The Master Builders

Hoist was present for the first demonstration of the Negavator. When Soundwave attacked the bunker and trapped the Autobots inside, Hoist and Grapple cleared the entrance so they could retaliate. As Hoist surveyed the damage, he heard Red Alert calling out and dug the security officer out from under some rubble. Hoist began to drive the Negavator back to headquarters with an Autobot escort, but the Decepticons made another attempt to grab the weapon, and this time Hoist and Grapple were forced to dig Optimus and Ironhide out from a rock slide. The Autobots realized something was wrong with Red Alert, but lost him on the city streets. Hoist drove the Negavator back to the bunker, and eventually, Red Alert turned up again. Auto Berserk

When Megatron located the Heart of Cybertron, Hoist was among the Autobots who traveled to South America to stop him obtaining the artifact. Unfortunately, they were too late, and they received a pounding courtesy of the powers granted to the Decepticon leader. They returned to base in a rather battered condition. Microbots Along with the rest of the Autobots, Hoist was banished from Earth on a spaceship after Megatron framed the Autobots using a faked video recording. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1 Though the spaceship was locked on course for the Sun, the Autobots were able to abandon it and, with the help of Cosmos and one of Trailbreaker's force fields, return to Earth. There they fought back against the Decepticons and freed the enslaved humans. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2

Following a disastrous battle at an airport, Hoist, Red Alert and Inferno turned up to drag the damaged Dinobots back to base for repairs. No sooner were said repairs done than the Dinobots up and left. Hoist was on the subsequent mission during which the effects of cybertonium depletion became apparent, but like the other Autobots, he managed to limp back to base, where he remained until fresh cybertonium could be fetched. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1 Blaster's loud music resulted in Hoist being too late to prevent the theft of the Voltronic Galaxer. Megatron subsequently used the device to jam radio transmissions across the planet, and Hoist, Prowl, Ratchet and Trailbreaker had to help a bunch of snowed-in motorists. Hoist caught one hapless fellow whose car plunged off a cliff. Blaster Blues

During a spot of gosh and bother with some frightfully rambunctious ruffians, Hoist and Warpath were transported backwards in time to medieval England. The trio encountered Nimue and her father, Sir Aetheling the Red, who were holding a jousting match. Hoist whipped up a suit of armor for Spike Witwicky so he could take part, but the Decepticons abducted Nimue during the tournament, and the Autobots were too low on energy to catch up. Sir Aetheling led an assault on Wigend du Blackthorne's castle, and Hoist acted variously as a bridge across the castle moat and a siege ladder, until both he and Warpath were exhausted of energy and unable to fight on. The wizard Beorht gave them a boost of energy, and the two Autobots breached the castle wall, pretty much ending the feud. With more help from the wizard, they were able to return to the nineteen-eighties. A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court

He also drove the lorry Huffer once (how he fit in the cab is perhaps a question best left unasked), and he was jolly well cross at a ghastly traffic jam. Of course, being a tow truck, he could just get out and tow the broken-down car away. Make Tracks

Hoist and Grapple had their mitts full with repair work after the Autobots suffered frightful injuries against the fully fed Insecticons. At least he got to spend some time with Skids. (That poor boy does seem to vanish ever so often.) Hoist later went along with Prime's rescue party to recover Cosmos and the robotic insecticide he recovered to deal with those awful creatures. The poor chap was in bad shape, so Hoist offered to give him the best overhaul he ever had. Cheers to that, old bean! Quest for Survival

As Megatron unleashed the dreadful little Kremzeek on the Autobots, Hoist and Jazz were the first to be overloaded by the beastly thing. Kremzeek! After Blitzwing began randomly bombing a US city, Hoist rescued another motorist when a suspension bridge was struck. He and Smokescreen were guided through a Constructicon-built maze by Powerglide, allowing them to recover some of their comrades who'd been built into a sort of throne. Hoist had them all fixed in no time. Triple Takeover Following an unsuccessful search for some missing Autobots, Hoist was at Headquarters when Cosmos finally located their friends, being held captive by big game hunter Lord Chumley. Prime Target (episode)

Following these misadventures, Hoist was out taking a drive with Spike and Carly when they witnessed a couple of cars crashing. Little did they know that it was a movie stunt, and Hoist's daring rescue landed him a role in the film. Unfortunately, a number of the other Autobots decided this was a great idea and joined in too. Hoist was mortified by his fellow Autobots and the fact that the director kept referring to him as "Moist", but took part in filming anyway. Before long, the director decided to rethink the script and instead make Attack of the Alien Robots. Hoist and his friends found themselves wearing silly masks and being blown up. As it turned out, the Decepticons were hunting Major Pictures studio for a reel of film, and Hoist helped Spike and Carly fake its destruction, prompting the Decepticons to leave. It later turned out that the secret weapon the Decepticons had salvaged was one of Wheeljack's old inventions that didn't work anyway. Hoist subsequently swore off the movie business. Hoist Goes Hollywood

Hoist was also one of the Autobots who traveled to Cybertron in Omega Supreme to try and stop the Decepticons creating the Stunticons. He and Ratchet were able to save the life of Alpha Trion. When they were too late to stop the Decepticons, Optimus came up with a new plan, and the Autobots set to work modifying some old cargo rockets into Earth-style jets. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1 The jet were brought to life by Vector Sigma as the Aerialbots. The Autobots returned to Earth in Omega Supreme, who broke down on arrival. Rather than help repair him, Hoist instead went with the Autobots to a rocket base under attack by Decepticons, only to come off second best against the Stunticons. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2

Hoist was briefly seen assembled with the rest of the Autobots before they drove off to rescue Perceptor from Fox Creek Canyon. Cosmic Rust (episode) Hoist assisted in the capture of Breakdown and Wildrider while the Stunticons were assembling Megatron's latest new weapon. His laser cannon brought the chaotic Wildrider to a screeching halt. When reporting in to Optimus Prime, Hoist gleefully remarked how patching them up wouldn't be his job! Masquerade

In the Middle East, Hoist and a squad of Autobots backed up the Aerialbots against Combaticon activities in the area. The Decepticons fled, but Slingshot was trapped behind an avalanche. Thanks to Skydive's knack for engineering, Hoist was able to get through the rocky debris and pull Slingshot to safety. He and Ratchet then patched him up at the nearby air field. Aerial Assault

Hoist was one of a group of Autobots who allowed their brainwave patterns to be encoded on crystals and stored aboard the Ark in case more warriors were needed. Despite the fact that the Ark did come under attack during that mission, these warriors were not taken out of storage until after the Ark crash-landed on Earth and spent four million years collecting dust before reawakening in 1984. However, once the Autobots got their act together, Hoist and his crystal-stored friends were reactivated and sent with Bumblebee on a training mission.

Though Bumblebee's orders were to keep Hoist and the others incognito and to avoid conflict, the Decepticons' infiltration of a Brick Springstern concert at Municipal Stadium forced his hand. As the Autobots fought to keep the Decepticons from using their power siphon to harvest energy from the concert, Hoist worked to keep the stage from collapsing on the band members. Rock and Roll-Out!

After settling in, Hoist took up the task of routine check-ups for the Autobots who resided in the Ark. Every 1200 miles or four Earth weeks, whichever comes first! Some Autobots, like Skids, appreciated this maintenance, but Tracks only found it invasive. I, Robot-Master!

Later, Hoist was sent to Alaska to track the Constructicons. While sneaking up on their base, he fell into an old snow-covered mineshaft, and became wedged in place, requiring rescue. But when Jazz came to his aid, he was shot in the head, and Hoist had to wrangle his brain-damaged teammate to safety while being hunted by the Constructicons. The Mission

Hoist was present with the other active Autobots for Grapple's unveiling of Omega Supreme. With the addition of Omega Supreme to the Autobot ranks, Optimus Prime was free to take the entirety of his Autobots off-site to pursue other tasks. Hoist and the rest followed Optimus lead to the Decepticons' Wyoming base, where they brought a rare full-scale assault on their enemies. Once Bumblebee had gathered the data he needed, however, Optimus Prime called for Hoist and the others to retreat. Command Performances!
When Optimus Prime, Prowl and Ratchet mysteriously vanished in a flash of light, Hoist and the rest were left to pick up the pieces. He and the others suffered a severe pounding at the hands of a trio of Decepticons who had traveled from the future, and they were forced to team up with Megatron (of all things) to even the odds. Megatron led a strike team, which included Hoist, against the future Decepticon Scourge, with some success. Once the future Decepticons were thwarted and the missing Autobots returned, Hoist joined his fellow Autobots in welcoming back Optimus Prime. Target: 2006
After Optimus Prime was destroyed following a virtual encounter with Megatron, Hoist observed with his fellow Autobots as Ratchet tried in vain to repair him. A funeral followed, in which every available Autobot except Ratchet participated. Funeral for a Friend!
After Optimus Prime's resurrection, Hoist and First Aid bugged Prime to undergo a full checkup, though he felt fine. Hot Rod believed this was just their way of saying it was good to have their leader back. A short time later, a Decepticon strike force led by Sixshot attacked, and Hoist took part in trying to fight them off. It turned out to be a diversion while Galvatron used his Nullification Cannon on Cybertron's Energon stocks, and Hoist could only watch as the strike force promptly fled once the deception was uncovered. The War Against the Destructons, Chapter 1 of 3
Dreamwave Generation 1 comics
Nine million years ago, Hoist was allied with the Autobot cause when Optronix first rose to become Optimus Prime. He was briefly seen helping make the preparations to abandon Cybertron, in response to the new Prime's orders. The War Within issue 2

After the Great Shutdown, Hoist was one of several Autobots Shockwave "helped" into a position of power as the Autobot High Council. Ostensibly, Shockwave was to rule beside the Council as the Unified Cybertronian government. In fact, however, Shockwave arranged for the council to be composed of Autobots whom he could easily manipulate, and so slowly amassed the majority of true political power for himself, leaving Hoist and his comrades as little more than figureheads. When Optimus Prime and the crew of the Ark returned to Cybertron and helped lead the various Autobot resistance cells in outright insurrection, Hoist and the rest of the High Council finally got the wake-up call, and took to the streets alongside their fellow Autobots, overthrowing Shockwave entirely. Revelation (War and Peace)

There were several victims of the revolution, however, including Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus. Hoist personally attended to their recuperation cycles. Black Sunshine Later, he accompanied Prowl and the Arks crew back to Earth, where they set up camp and prepared for the construction of Autobot City. Hoist joined Optimus Prime's troops on Earth at some point after the failed Decepticon conquest of the planet, but following Prime's surrender, he decided to get out before Ultra Magnus started arresting people. Bumblebee tried to get him to stay, but Hoist calmly explained his reasoning and apologized before driving off with Blurr, Tracks and Beachcomber to join Hot Rod's team of defectors, who were currently attempting to get off the planet. As Hoist led his comrades in Hot Rod's general direction, the four Autobots were attacked by the human organization Skywatch, who quickly took out Beachcomber. Hoist only had time to stop Tracks from opening fire on the humans before he too was offlined and stuck in vehicle mode. Spike Witwicky then used the captured Autobots in his negotiations with Optimus Prime. A Rude Awakening

Eventually, the Autobots agreed to form an alliance with Skywatch, and Hoist rejoined his comrades. Once the Decepticons returned to Earth and attacked their base, the Autobots retreated towards Omega Supreme, only to be pestered by angry civilians and confronted by Megatron. Hoist and the others pounded the newly upgraded Decepticon leader with a barrage of completely ineffective firepower, and were in turn taken out of action by a single shot from his cannon. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 3: Woken Furies

Megatron dumped the injured Autobots in a schoolyard in Albuquerque, where they were held hostage by two humans carrying Megatron-based handguns and were influenced by Megatron's own thoughts. Unable to fight back or defend themselves without risking human lives, Hoist and the others could only sit tight until they were saved by Jazz, who killed one of the humans. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 4: Burning Chrome
Cautious. Reliable. Uneager. These are not words to describe Cyclonus. He is one wild and craaaaaaazy guy. Seriously, he's the guy in the group that even the other Cons think is a little unbalanced. His usual battle tactic is to rush straight in with every piece of artillery he has blazing, all while laughing maniacally. Other times, he yodels while rushing straight in with every piece of artillery he has blazing.

He loves combat, and isn't particularly picky about which side he's on, so long as he gets to shoot things. He's not especially bright, but Megatron knows the value of a soldier largely without fear.

He is oftentimes partnered with the Mini-Con Crumplezone, whose optics were opened up to just how much fun lunatic charges can be. The two get along amazingly well, both having an undying love for the sheer excitement of blowing stuff up real good.
Cyclonus takes the name Snow Cat after receiving a new body.
The duo powerlinked and threatened Hot Shot with a super-cannon when he arrived to foil their plans. Hot Shot's partner Jolt arrived, however, giving him super-speed and driving claws to outmaneuver the Decepticons. Cyclonus and Crumplezone were caught in an explosion when Hot Shot dumped the Decepticon device in a ravine. Armada Volume 1
Somehow, Megatron was able to ambush Optimus Prime, and forced him to battle Snow Cat, Demolishor, Mirage and Shockblast without back-up. Luckily for Prime, Wing Saber arrived with a new Powerlinx mode for the two of them, enabling Prime to annihilate Snow Cat and the other Decepticons with heavy firepower. Energon Volume 4
Cyclonus is a wild soldier under Megatron's command. He is closely partnered with his comrade Demolishor, with whom he sometimes shares a love/hate relationship. He is known for having a maniacal personality and will often fire at targets frantically, risking damage to his own teammates. He has a quirky and sarcastic personality, often leading to harsh punishment by his commander. For some unknown reason, Cyclonus had the habit of falling asleep at random intervals during downtime after battles. He could be the first recorded case of a narcoleptic Decepticon (although not the first narcoleptic in Transformers full-stop).

Cyclonus served Megatron throughout The Unicron Battles, and was a key player in the united Armada against the chaos-bringer. His alternate form is a helicopter, and he often took pleasure in tormenting the three kids under Optimus Prime's protection. Cyclonus returned as the guardian of the Cybertron City based on the moon. Although he served in his role dutifully, he was yearning for the days of combat. Not long after the attacks on Mars and Asteroid City, the moon would also be attacked, a battle through which Cyclonus would hold up a small resistance before he was presumed destroyed. As Demolishor prepared for more Terrorcon assaults on Earth, Cyclonus surfaced, having tucked tail and ran, abandoning the Cybertron City on the moon to be looted of its Energon. Cyclonus assisted Demolishor and the Autobots until Tidal Wave showed up wielding Megatron's Sword, a blade forged by Alpha Quintesson from the Spark of Megatron. Believing that it was proof of Megatron, Cyclonus abandoned the Autobots and Demolishor, joining Alpha Quintesson's forces.

Cyclonus would once again serve Megatron when the commander was revived within Unicron for some time, before sustaining damages from an Autobot assault while retreating. Having failed to topple the energon towers, Cyclonus returned injured to his commander, begging for repairs. In a rage, Megatron bound Cyclonus to the wall using Unicron's internal tentacles as punishment. Cyclonus was then fused with Unicron's essence in a painful manner and upgraded into Snow Cat, who then took up yodeling, and skiing. Kicker Beware! During The Powerlinx Battles Snow Cat and Demolishor had to deal with a gigantic Insecticon, who was mutated by the Super Energon.
Armada comic
Before the war with the Autobots began, Cyclonus was part of Megatron's inner circle. He and Demolishor attacked Mini-Con Village C52, capturing most of its population after getting past its forceshield by simply attacking from underground. Dreamwave Armada issue 1 After picking C52 resident Crumplezone as his personal slave, Cyclonus participated in the Decepticon assault on Cyber City. Dreamwave Armada issue 2

One million years later, Cyclonus was present when the Decepticons learned that the Mini-Cons who had fled from Cybertron during the war had ended up on Earth. Dreamwave Armada issue 3 He, Demolishor and Starscream traveled to the alien planet via space bridge and assaulted a military base for new alternate modes. After complaining about the humans' stench and taking out their communications systems, Cyclonus scanned a helicopter and joined Megatron for some Mini-Con hunting. He found out the hard way that the Autobots had also come to Earth when Scavenger caved his cockpit in. Dreamwave Armada issue 4 Cyclonus and the others fought a short battle with the Autobots, but were forced to retreat when their enemies got some Mini-Cons of their own. Dreamwave Armada issue 5

Cyclonus later helped capture the Air Defense Mini-Con Team, which led to Megatron getting his hands on the Star Saber. Dreamwave Armada issue 6 Using this mighty weapon, the Decepticons attacked the Autobots' headquarters. Cyclonus overheard Starscream complaining that Megatron didn't even need his loyal troops now that he had the power of the Star Saber, and told him to stop being so whiny: they were Megatron's eyes and ears, and he would never forget about them! He then fought with the Autobots, lost, and retreated in short order. Dreamwave Armada issue 7 Some time later at the Decepticons' Silver Ridge base, Cyclonus went to put the Mini-Cons <s>to bed</s> back in their cells, but found that the little 'bots had run away. When he tried to recall them, he found that they had tampered with the base's internal defenses, turning them against him. Cyclonus, who had forgotten the emergency override code, was promptly imprisoned in the base and blasted by laser turrets. Luckily, the lasers were only set to harm Mini-Cons, so he wasn't too injured to participate in the hunt for the escaped Mini-Cons. The Decepticons followed their Mini-Cons to a structure in Kansas, but failed to stop them from entering it and blasting off into space. Dreamwave Armada issue 8

The Decepticons found that the Mini-Cons had traveled to the Moon, and soon followed them there. The flying Decepticons and Megatron attacked the Mini-Con Moonbase, but were driven off by its automated defenses. Dreamwave Armada issue 9 Cyclonus doubted that the moonbase had any weaknesses at all, but Megatron scoffed at this and fought his way into it using a really big drill. Dreamwave Armada issue 10 With help from Leader-1, he took control of the base's defenses and ordered Cyclonus to renew his assault... only for Leader-1 to betray the Decepticons and reactivate the defenses. After retreating again, Cyclonus decided to pick a fight with a newly arrived Autobot shuttle instead, but this turned out to be a poor decision as the ship heavily outgunned him. Dreamwave Armada issue 11

Megatron eventually wrecked the moonbase and captured the Destruction Mini-Con Team who had built it. However, the Mini-Con trio proved capable of overloading anyone who powerlinxed with them, so rather than using them himself, Megatron decided that Cyclonus had volunteered to try them out. He was sent to help Thrust retrieve some Mini-Cons in Alaska, but shortly after he took out the Adventure Mini-Con Team, the Destruction Team indeed overloaded him. Driven mad with power, Cyclonus attacked Thrust in a berserker rage. Fire & Ice The Destruction Team's power allowed him to easily defeat his Decepticon comrade, and he even outmatched an entire team of Autobots which arrived shortly afterward. He was eventually knocked out by Optimus Prime, powered up with every ounce of Sparkplug's energy. Dreamwave Armada issue 13 The heavily damaged Cyclonus was eventually retrieved and placed in a repair tank in the Decepticon base. Worlds Collide, Part 1 of 4

After recovering, Cyclonus participated in an all-out ssault on the Autobots, who had lost Optimus Prime. The attack went well, up until a powerful stranger arrived on the scene and effortlessly took out all the Decepticons other than Megatron. Worlds Collide, Part 2 of 4 When the threat of Unicron reared its ugly head, the Decepticons had no choice but join forces with the Autobots. Cyclonus released the Decepticon-held Mini-Cons back into the wild, then returned to Cybertron to do battle with Unicron. The End

Energon comic
Ten years after the destruction of Unicron, Cyclonus was spotted in Cyber City, oddly not blowing anything up. This Evil Reborn

Later, Snow Cat was located in a small town in the Yukon, under the command of Scorponok busy sabotaging Base Unit 1 to that the Energon it'd produce would come to feed Unicron. He also captured the Omnicons and rigged them to a machine that would brainwash them into obedience to him and Megatron. However, the Omnicons learned the value of teamwork thanks to the shared-hallucination-induced disembodied advice-giving head of Over-Run, broke free, and totally kicked his ass. Omni-Potent

Much later, Snow Cat was one of several Decepticons who attempted to "sneak" into Ocean City and steal the data for the Autobots' Omega Supreme prototype. He rushed into the dark hangar, smacked into a scaffolding like a big dumb doof, and was chased out by security. Megatron didn't buy Snow Cat's recounting of how his daring and skill was thwarted by a "sub sea earthquake" for one second. Perspective

{{note|Due to the bankruptcy of Dreamwave Productions, it has not been confirmed if Cyclonus and Snow Cat are one and the same in this reality.
Panini Armada comic
In the early days of the war, Cyclonus, Starscream and Thrust performed an airstrike on the Autobot Command HQ. Panini Armada issue 9 As the war with the Autobots continued for millions of years, and Cyclonus was seen fighting alongside Starscream some more. First Encounter!

When the Mini-Cons were discovered on Earth, Megatron summoned the two fliers and Demolishor to scour the planet. Shortly after arriving, they got into a battle with the Autobots again, and Cyclonus was rammed out of the sky by a flying Hot Shot. Panini Armada issue 2 The Decepticons later attacked the Autobots to stop them from sending some Mini-Cons back to Cybertron, and kind of succeeded. Panini Armada issue 4 When Megatron went looking for Mini-Cons on the Moon, he took Cyclonus and Demolishor with him. They didn't do much searching, though, as they soon ran into two Autobots sent to stop them. Cyclonus spent some time strafing Scavenger until he got his own Mini-Con powerup and presumably defeated the crazy copter. Panini Armada issue 6

The Decepticons remained on the Moon and built a new base, from which they prepared to fire missiles at the Autobot base on Earth. When the Autobots' Mini-Cons surrendered in exchange for their friends' lives, Cyclonus was sent to pick them up in a solar barge and take them to the Moon. Panini Armada issue 8 Unfortunately, the Mini-Cons broke out during the trip and cut the cable connecting Cyclonus and the barge. When the Decepticon noticed, he prepared to destroy the pesky Mini-Cons, but was shot by Jolt's electrical darts. This crashed his guidance systems, and he was sent floating aimlessly through space. Panini Armada issue 8 Cyclonus crashed on the Moon's surface, where he was found by the Destruction Mini-Con Team. The three Mini-Cons power-linked with him, taking control of his body in order to use it against the other Decepticons. As he was forced to bombard his headquarters and grapple with his leader, Cyclonus could do naught but plead that it wasn't his fault. Eventually, Starscream used a sonic destabiliser to disconnect the Destruction Team from him. Panini Armada issue 9
When a Mini-Con signal drew the Decepticons to Earth, Cyclonus was deployed in the Amazon to find the signal's origin. The Autobots were not far behind, and once they reached the hilltop where the signal had originated, he revealed himself, declaring Earth to be Decepticon property before departing, leaving a Heavy Unit behind to deal with them.

After the defeat of Starscream in Antarctica, the Autobots returned to the Amazon, venturing deeper into the jungle to an ancient temple. There, Cyclonus attacked again, tossing the Autobots all across the temple's surroundings and strafing them in copter mode. Eventually, the Autobots managed to deal him a finishing blow that sent him spiraling out of control in copter mode as his internal components exploded. Transformers (PS2)
*Cyclonus with Mini-Con Crumplezone (Deluxe, 2002/2003)
**Japanese ID number: MD-04
**Accessories: Missile, "gatling" missile, rotor blade

: Cyclonus transforms into a Cybertronian helicopter coloured in light blue, light grey with dark blue and gold accents. His Mini-Con Crumplezone can be attached to the front of his helicopter cockpit for added firepower. His primary gimmick is a trigger-activated gear assembly that runs through the length of the vehicle mode; pulling the trigger both spins the rotor blade and a gear system in the cockpit area. If Crumplezone is attached, the gears make his cannon move back and forth. Attaching a compatible geared Mini-Con to the square frame on the underside of his cockpit (any member of the Destruction Mini-Con Team, the Adventure Mini-Con Team, or Refute) allows the gear system to activate their gear-wheel gimmicks as well by pulling the trigger. Attaching Mini-Cons to the powerlinx plugs on either of his wing-mounted weapons pods launches a spring-loaded missile. In robot mode, attaching a Mini-Con to the plugs on either side of his legs will make a spring-loaded (non-firing) cannon pop up from his shins.

: The Takara release of Cyclonus has some slight color differences from the Hasbro, including a "separated" painted sigil, and a much brighter white plastic.
However, at the time KB was undergoing financial troubles, closing numerous stores across the United States, and it appears that the two toys did not make it to a great many of the stores that remained open. Many did make their way to Toy Liquidator outlets, a sub-company within KB mostly found in outlet malls. In 2006, it seems the toys finally made it to a wider distribution through the remaining KB stores.
An earthquake is a Transformer-induced event in which the ground shakes and, almost invariably, splits open. The resulting rifts in the ground are usually drawn toward Transformers, often splitting the ground open right beneath them and causing them to fall in. The most common cause of earthquakes is the Decepticon Rumble hitting the ground with his arm-mounted pile drivers. Other common causes include Sludge walking, Ratchet falling over, and Grimlock stomping.

On very rare occasions, earthquakes have occurred spontaneously, from so-called "natural causes". However, most of these "natural causes" can also be traced back to Transformer activity, such as the Decepticons draining mysterious energy forces or moving alien planets into Earth orbit or the chaos god at the center of the planet waking up. Whether there is such a thing as a truly "natural" earthquake remains unknown.
:Steeljaw is an Autobot Mini-Cassette from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Where the Decepticon cassette with a cat-mode is a master of moving about undetected, it is fitting that his Autobot counterpart is one of the best at tracking down robots who don't want to be found. Steeljaw is a tenacious tracker of unmatched skill, whose olfactory sensors can track even the faintest scent for a range of 800 miles. All business when on the job, he can come off as cold, even rude to others, but that's just his professionalism and determination getting the better of him. Off the clock, he loves to investigate odors of all shapes and sizes, and Earth has many new and unusual smells for him to enjoy - the perfume of young women being one of his favorites. Steeljaw has a nearly unbreakable bite, from which he takes his name, and is armed with two solar-powered pellet guns. He can electromagnetize himself to stick to surfaces in cassette mode. His only real weakness is a tendency to rust.
In 2005, during Megatron's attack on Autobot City, Soundwave ejected several of his cassette warriors to prevent Blaster from sending a radio transmission to Optimus Prime on Moonbase One. To fend off Soundwave's cassettes, Blaster ejected his own force, including Steeljaw. Blaster's cassettes and Soundwave's cassettes appeared to be evenly matched, and Steeljaw had no small bit of fun gnawing on Rumble. The Transformers: The Movie
In the year 2006, Steeljaw was summoned by Rodimus Prime to help track down Daniel Witwicky, after he vanished from a dignitary's party on Cybertron. Steeljaw tracked the boy and Grimlock to an old abandoned corridor and a hidden chamber, where the Quintessons had once exiled their unwanteds into other dimensions. Along with Ultra Magnus, Blaster and the other cassettes, Steeljaw followed the trail into Menonia. He ultimately found Daniel trying to free a great sorcerer known as the Golden One from a tomb. With Ramhorn's help, they broke open the mouth of the cave, and the Golden One helped the Autobots defeat the Quintesson exile who had enslaved the locals. Madman's Paradise
Steeljaw also helped recover a lost Quintesson journal, The Quintesson Journal, briefly fought alongside Rodimus Prime and Ultra Magnus in Europe The Ultimate Weapon, and was chosen as a "Primitive" by Primacron's Assistant to face the threat of Tornedron. Call of the Primitives
Steeljaw and the Mini-Cassettes journeyed to the Arctic with Blaster to help Hot Rod in the search for the Matrix of Leadership. They confronted the Predacons and Steeljaw battled the tiger, Rampage. Tragedy struck when Blaster was killed in battle with his arch-foe, Soundwave. Steeljaw tried to recover whatever remnants of his friend that he could. The Mystery of Planet Master Steeljaw and the Cassettes mourned the loss of their friend so greatly that they couldn't even go on missions. Eventually, Rodimus Prime had Blaster rebuilt using Master technology as Twincast. Reunited, Steeljaw and Twincast infiltrated Trypticon and the planet Chaar to stop Galvatron's Madmachine from being used against the Autobots. The Great Cassette Operation Later, in a form of stealth mission usually reserved for Decepticon Cassettes, Ramhorn and Steeljaw somehow managed to reach Chaar on their own and spy on Scorponok, learning all about his plans for plasma energy. The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts

After the Decepticons abandoned the solar system to seek out more energy, Twincast, Steeljaw and the Mini-Cassettes joined Fortress' crew in hunting them down. On Paradise, Steeljaw was dispatched on a scouting mission, and learned Highbrow had been kidnapped by the Decepticons. He alerted Twincast to what he had discovered. Head Formation of Friendship

Back on Earth, Steeljaw and the Mini-Cassettes ejected to help Twincast gather information on the recent upsurge of Decepticon activity. Steeljaw and Twincast went to investigate a non-responsive outpost in Alaska, only to discover Scorponok had eliminated all the Autobots stationed there. They were spotted by Sixshot, and Twincast commanded Steeljaw to flee back to Autobot City with their report. Steeljaw remained behind, hidden by a rocky outcrop, long enough to see his commander shot down by the Ninja Commander, and vowed to return with help. True to his silent vow, Steeljaw, eventually came back with Fortress Maximus and Metroplex. Steeljaw accompanied and protected Teletraan 15 on her journey as she filled his recording space with data on the Transformers whom she had been sent to study. The observing Teletraan 10, on the other hand, was more than perturbed by Steeljaw's fondness for the smell of young women, and threatened to reveal publicly his tendency to rust.

:Voice actor: Frank Welker (English), Masashi Ebara (Japanese)

Scramble City OVA
Megatron sent Ratbat to find the secret location of Metroplex's construction site. Blaster ejected his own cassette troops, Steeljaw among them, to counter the Decepticon threat. His cassette army failed, allowing Ratbat to slip through and discover the location of Metroplex. Scramble City: Mobilization

The Headmasters cartoon

Now that's a cavalry. The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg When the Decepticons seemingly abandoned Earth, Steeljaw and his fellow Mini-Cassettes did some investigating to make sure they were gone. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)
In the final battle at the North Pole, Steeljaw and the Mini-Cassettes were unleashed on Mindwipe to save the Headmasters. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)
Teletraan Go! Go! comics
As Teletraan 15 recovered from her injuries at the hands (and mouth) of Galvatron, Blaster gave her a cassette tape to cheer her up, saying, "A princess like you deserves happier music." When she listened to it, she discovered that it was in fact entirely full of depressing songs. Blaster Volume

It was also apparently Steeljaw, who became her companion in her next adventure, when she visited the Generation 2 timeline and encountered the Jetfire of that era. Steeljaw commented that the Autobot smelled "like a warrior I know" and asked if he was the same person in a new body. Steeljaw Volume Battle Convoy Volume

When the pair returned to the artificial satellite Nana, Teletraan 15 was suddenly possessed by the disembodied spirit of Starscream... and Steeljaw was not seen in her company again. {{storylink|Starscream?
In an alternate timeline of the year 2008, Steeljaw was stationed at Autobot City when it was sacked by Quintessons. He survived, hidden within Blaster's tape compartment, and was activated by Hot Rod and Arcee to help them fight off the invaders. Space Pirates!

Generation 2
Steeljaw was part of a team sent by Optimus Prime to stop a Cobra-rebuilt Megatron. Steeljaw was killed rather abruptly, being the first victim of Megatron's new rail gun. Final Transformations

Dreamwave comics continuity
Steeljaw was depicted among Blaster and the cassettes as part of the resistance movement organized against Shockwave on Cybertron by Hot Rod and Kup. He participated in the final conflict against the Decepticons and the Guardian Robots, bringing the planet back under Autobot control. Countdown to Extinction (issue)
: Steeljaw transforms from a microcassette into a robotic lion. His cassette mold can fit in the tape compartments of Blaster and Soundwave. For the Hasbro line, he was only available in a two-pack with Rewind.

: There is a notable variation concerning Steeljaw's add-on weapons; initial releases have gold-colored chrome, while later (and more common) versions have silver-chromed weapons.

: This mold was later used to make Nightstalker.

: Steeljaw was later packed in with Twincast, the "reborn" version of Blaster. This release added a special decal to his "tape window", which showed the weak point of Scorponok when viewed through Twincast's chestplate-window, in a manner like the Tech Spec decoders. Also, this version is made of two slightly different colored yellow plastic. His body is the same color as other releases, however, his legs, feet, head, and tail are a shade lighter.
