'''The Answer Studio''' is a Japan-based animation studio founded in 2004. Previously, the company was known as ''Walt Disney Animation (Japan)'' and had worked on such Disney animation as ''Gargoyles'', ''Aladdin the Series'', ''The Tigger Movie'', ''101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure'' and other Disney projects. When Disney pulled the plug on virtually all their foreign animation studios, the staff and talent formed the Answer Studio, an independent animation organization.

Since then, some of their work has included ''The Cat that Looked at a King'' (a short film created for the 40th anniversary ''Mary Poppins'' DVD), ''Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!'' and ''NeposNapos''.

'''''Transformers Animated''''' is a cartoon series which debuted in early 2008, in support of the [[franchise]] of [[Transformers Animated|the same name]].

The cartoon is produced by [[Cartoon Network]], scripted in the United States, with character and background designs by the crews behind shows like ''[[wikipedia:Teen Titans (TV series)|Teen Titans]]'' and ''[[wikipedia:Ben 10|Ben 10]]'', while animation is being provided by Japanese studios [[Mook]], [[The Answer Studio]], and [[Studio 4°C]].

''Animated'' sees several G1 voice actors reprise their old roles ([[Susan Blu]], [[Corey Burton]], [[John Moschitta]], etc.), and is the first Transformers show featuring [[David Kaye]] in which he won't be voicing [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]].

==Series details==
[[Image:TransformersAnimatedPoster.jpg||thumb|250px|left|"When there's trouble you know who to call..."]]
The series eschews the ever-continuing space opera storylines of the past few anime to return to the episodic approach of ''[[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]''; each episode will be a standalone story, but with an overall story arc that stretches through the whole season. The focus is being put firmly on characterization, dynamic action, and humor.

The episodes center not only on the war between the [[Autobot]]s and the [[Decepticon]]s, but also on the Autobots' interactions with many of [[Detroit]]'s [[human]] supervillain denizens, including a [[Angry Archer|maladjusted marksman]], a [[Nanosec|speedy racer]], and a guy who [[Prometheus Black|looks good in a pimp suit]]. The idea is to present the Decepticons as more of an ongoing background threat instead of having them be repeatedly defeated each episode and look like bumbling fools. Rather, the arrival of a Decepticon in battle is supposed to be a big deal, requiring multiple Autobots working together to stop even a single one. The human villains will give the Autobots "everyday" threats--and no doubt their schemes will turn out to be the result of Decepticon treachery. Note that [[Doctor Arkeville|human]] [[Lord Chumley|adversaries]] [[Circuit Breaker|are]] [[Cobra Commander|not]] [[Abdul Fakkadi|new]] [[Lazarus|in]] ''Transformers'' continuity. However, humans as [[Hydra and Buster|major]] [[Overlord|threats]] is very uncommon.

Season 3 is already in the works, and season 4 is quite possible.

While the series is not a sequel to the [[Transformers (2007)|live-action movie]], they have many thematic elements in common, most notably the central role of the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] and the revelation that all modern technology has been reverse-engineered from the dormant body of [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]. Hasbro also carried over some design elements from the live-action movie into Animated designs, including not just the aforementioned cube but also [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]]'s medical readout striped deco, [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]]'s black racing stripe, and [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]'s helmet. These are meant to be "connection points," helping kids who had seen the theatrical film but had no prior Transformers experience ease into understanding the new series.
==Reception==
''Transformers Animated'' debuted January 5, 2008, at 10:30am EST as the number one television show among boys 6-11 in both cable and network television. In addition, the strength of the showing helped lift the ratings of all its neighboring shows in Cartoon Network's "Dynamite Action" scheduling block. <ref>http://www.timewarner.com/corp/newsroom/pr/0,20812,1701434,00.html</ref>

==Trivia==
* ''Transformers: Animated'' reunites Jeff Bennett, Bill Fagerbakke and Cree Summer as regular cast members. Respectively, they have previously voiced [[wikipedia:Manhattan_Clan#Brooklyn|Brooklyn]], [[wikipedia:Manhattan_Clan#Broadway|Broadway]] and Hyena from the [[wikipedia:Gargoyles (TV series)|Gargoyles]] series, three characters not unlike their Transformers counterparts. Another voice actor for Gargoyles, Kath Soucie, has made a guest appearance.
* The series is the first in over a decade to re-establish the classic G1 convention of blue eyes for Autobots and red eyes for Decepticons.
* As well as the aforementioned G1 voice actors, [[Townsend Coleman]] returns to a Transformers series. He voiced [[Rewind]] in the original G1 cartoon.
* It seems like the Autobots like faceplates in this series. (i.e. Optimus, Prowl, Bumblebee.)
* Yes, they have large chins. Shut up about it.

I think it would be really helpful if these pages listed the specific episodes the companies animated. It'd certainly help keep track of which ones are the REALLY good ones (like who did "Home" and "Nanosec", which were gorgeously animated). --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 18:15, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
:That's not only a good idea, but entirely possible since the studios are listed in the credits (unlike the G1 cartoon, which didn't list what studio did what episode). '''Mook DLE Animation''' is a Japanese-based animation studio which has produced animation for numerous American and Japanese programs since its creation in 1986. Some of Mook's Japanese work include ''Eureka Seven'', ''Gungrave'' and ''Read or Die''. On the American side, Mook is heavily favored by the Time Warner corporation and their services have been outsourced for shows such as ''Swat Kats: the Radical Squadron'', ''X-Men: Evolution'', ''The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest'' and the straight-to-video movie ''Scooby Doo on Zombie Island''.

In 2007 it was announced that Mook would be animating the upcoming [[Transformers Animated]] cartoon series.
I think, because of how common a word "animated" is and how many things on this Wiki it could refer to we should stick to the full "Transformers: Animated" to avoid confusion or weirdness. There are times when breaking convention serves everyone better. The chategory "Animated characters" for instance is just screaming to be missunderstood. I din't like the designs when the image was released either, but I'm looking forward to the series now. It just seems to be kinda nasty at the basic heart of it all.

:::Anyone think we need a <nowiki>{{toosnarky}}</nowiki> template? There's a lot of snark sneaking into articles that ought not be as snarky lately. We're weed-whacking it back into place with relative ease at the moment- but I think that for a lot of new users, the discussions about ''de-snarking'' are relatively invisible, while the snark in articles is easy to see. This creates a positive feedback scenario, where they perceive forces only encouraging the addition of snark, and do not notice the need for its moderation.
:::I believe a de-snarking "It's been suggested this page has too much funny and it's interfering with the delivery of information" template would make the need for it not to ''get in the way'' of articles more visible to users, who otherwise only see the jokes. (While also articulating to the anti-humor assholes that we're okay with humor as long as it ''doesn't'' interfere with the delivery of information.) -<span style="font-family: Monotype Corsiva; font-size: 15px;">[[User:Derik|Derik]]</span> 00:01, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
:but that doesn't point out something like "excessive sarcasm that just seems to be in for the wrong reasons". Which I think is the main problem. Funny good, gittery, bad. {{unsigned|84.18.160.11}}
::::I'd proposed an "excessive sarcasm" template or somesuch before. I even have the image to use and quote...
Heh. Well, I want to have a BW-based template in there SOMEWHERE... and Rattrap and sarcasm just GO together. Wanna make sure our templates have franchise variety. --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 00:23, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
== Are the Autobots always going to be the Civilian ground vehicle? ==

Are the Autobots(Automobile bots) going to be civilian ground vehicles like cars again, not anything flying nor military vehicles like C-17 Globemaster IIIs? Are the Decepticons going to be the military vehicles and flying vehicles like always? The Decepticons are known for their air power due to the Seekers. I hope someone knows.

:The Animated Autobots already have a non-civilian vehicle alt-mode: Ratchet (and the Dinobots aren't even vehicles). Police and Fire& Rescue vehicles are by definition not-civilian. There's only been a few time that the vehicular Autobots were all ground vehicles: G1 in 1984, RID prior to the release of Storm Jet (and all of ''Car Robots'') ''Armada'' prior to the release of Jetfire, and Classics prior to the release of Jetfire. --[[User:FortMax|FortMax]] 18:58, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

You didn't answer the Decepticon question! How am I going to know whether the factions are going to be balanced or not. Oh, by the way, the funny stays!

Why didn't you answer these questions?

Why did you ignore these questions?

:Well the main character Autobots are not warriors, just "repair-bots", so they're altmodes are simple ground based service vehicles. Probably there will be more military like ones in the future, like Sentinel Prime. -[[User:Hepathos|Hepathos]] 13:27, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey! Autobot is actually Automobilebots due to most of them are cars. Look at a list of Generation 1 Autobots to find out. Plus I see no animated Autobot that is at least Military! The Decepticons are always jets and Military vehicles like Devastator/Brawl.
Has there been any official announcement as to what companies are involved with Animated? There has not been, to my knowledge, any announcement of Studio 4C or the Answer Studio working on Animated, and may be false. Until such time it can be proven, we may wish to omit it, as it may possibly be erroneous.<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From [http://transformers.wikia.com Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki], a [http://www.wikia.com Wikia] wiki.</small></div>

:''Nemesis Prime is a [[Unicron]]-affiliated [[Decepticon]] from the [[Armada]] portion of the [[Unicron Trilogy]] [[continuity family]].''

'''Nemesis Prime''' is a monstrous Transformer sent to kill [[Autobot]] and [[Decepticon]] alike. It scanned the minds of the Transformers and took the form of [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] as he was the most powerful and respected in all their minds. As a duplicate of Optimus Prime, Nemesis has all of Prime's strength and power - in addition to his ability to reconstruct himself.

Nemesis Prime wields the [[Dark Saber]], a twisted clone of the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]], and has a [[Mini-Con]] partner named [[Run-Over]].
Nemesis Prime was granted the [[Doomstone]], and was sent to ravage, devastate and destroy any world he came across, accompanied by [[Run-Over]] and the [[Air Assault Mini-Con Team]]. The death-agonies and negative psychic energies of the beings he destroyed were stored inside the Doomstone, which was at some point taken from him, and later transferred into [[Ravenus]].

Nemesis Prime was first encountered on a distant planet composed of salt and technorganic materials. The origins of this planet are unknown, but some speculate that it could be a world Unicron devastated eons ago. Nemesis Prime was a Unicron-created being that acted very savage and feral in nature, using his [[Dark Saber]] to nearly destroy several of the [[Autobot]]s and [[Decepticon]]s. Although the character seemed beastly and insane, his exact motives and personality are unknown, as he was simply a puppet of [[Sideways]]. Nemesis Prime was eventually destroyed by a combined blast from [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] and the [[Requiem Blaster]], and [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] using his new [[Overload (Armada)|Overload]] power unit. Sideways was seen fleeing the scene in [[trans-phase mode]], while Nemesis Prime's remains were scatted about the area. Mysteriously, the planet immediately began to break down and was destroyed without reason or warning.

It's worth noting that the Transformers encountered Nemesis Prime and this planet only after falling into a black hole that had taken shape due to Unicron's lack of a physical body. Nemesis Prime's current status is unknown, but it ain't looking too good for him.
*'''Nemesis Prime with Run-Over''' (Super-Con, 2003)

: A [[redeco]] of the Super-Con version of ''Armada'' [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], Nemesis Prime transforms into a longnosed truck cab of made-up model. Plugging a [[Mini-Con]] onto the [[Powerlinx]] plug on his robot mode back unlocks a "punching" action that moves his arms back and forth when the be-plugged Mini-Con is pushed up and down. He came with his Mini-Con partner [[Run-Over]], who can also become a handgun Nemesis Prime can hold.

: This mold was also used for the ''[[Cybertron (franchise)|Cybertron]]'' Deluxe-class version of Optimus Prime and ''[[Universe]]'' "[[Battle in a Box]]" [[Ultra Magnus (BIAB)|Ultra Magnus]].

*'''Scourge with Sweep''' (Super-Con, 2003)

: In Japan, Nemesis Prime was only available as a mail-away item from ''Tele-V Magazine'' (limited to 5000 pieces) under the name '''Scourge''', a nod to [[Hasbro]]'s [[Scourge (RID)|''Robots in Disguise'' Scourge]]. There are a number of small but significant differences between Hasbro and [[Takara]]'s versions of the toys; the Hasbro version uses a bluer version of off-black and a sandy-tan color rather than the Takara version's more brownish-black and neutral-light-gray. The Hasbro version also appears to have a larger number of [[paint application]]s in a wider variety of colors.
