Synopsis
Frogs eat bugs, snakes kill frogs, birds kill snakes. Things are mercilessly killing each other, as Nature intended. But Nature didn't intend for a giant crazed robotic fire ant to attack Cheetor and Dinobot. As the maniacal Inferno gleefully assaults the two, Terrorsaur brings out some heavy explosives from a mountaintop weapons cache to take out Dinobot, though he ends up knocking Inferno aside as well; Waspinator just hangs back, waiting for the signal that Terrorsaur never bothered to give. After getting blasted a good distance, Terrorsaur signals for Waspinator to attack. Cheetor radios for back-up.

Waspinator plans an attack on Cheetor using another heavy explosive, but overestimates his own strength and can't keep himself aloft when he's holding the weapon. While trying to keep airborne, Waspinator sees a tiger, which he naturally mistakes for Tigatron—who is actually a few feet higher on the mountain, ready to pounce on the Predacon. Tigatron holds on and guides the bug to a crash.

Inferno switches his weapon to a flamethrower to cook the cats. Tigatron transforms and blasts Inferno away, but a stray shot from his own gun passes Inferno and heads towards the mountain where both Snowstalker and the Predacon's weaponry cache are located. The entire supply of explosives detonates in a single blast, and Tigatron's animal friend is caught in the rockslide. Concerned for his companion, Tigatron hurries to unbury the wild tiger, but it's too late.

Later, as the sky darkens, Tigatron finishes constructing a marker for Snowstalker's resting place. Surveying the damage to the landscape from the fight, Tigatron resolves to quit being a participant in the Beast Wars. Dinobot argues that destruction is part of the nature of war, but Tigatron remains with his decision to stay out of the Maximal/Predacon conflict. After Tigatron leaves, Dinobot follows him, making it clear he has a sort of plan. Cheetor is relieved when Primal arrives to make sense of the situation.

The three Predacons meet to plan their next move.

In the dark of night, in thick foliage, Dinobot shows Tigatron an example of Nature in action: a tiger killing some gazelles. Slaughter for survival, just like the Maximals battle the Predacons for the survival of peace on Cybertron. Dinobot explains that if Megatron wins, he will spread war to other worlds, ultimately destroying Cybertron in the process. Thus, the Maximals must stop him. It is the legacy of the Autobots and the Decepticons: they will always oppose each other. Tigatron still disagrees, and Dinobot gets aggressive. Luckily, before Dinobot gets carried away, Primal arrives to take his turn at reasoning. Disgusted, Dinobot takes his leave. After he leaves, Primal tells Tigatron that he hates the Beast Wars just as much as him, but that as long as they are on this planet, they have a duty to protect it from the Predacons.

The three Predacons attack Dinobot, overpowering the lone Maximal despite his inhumanly flexible neck. Primal arrives soon after, and the Predacons hope for another victory. Optimus puts up a better fight, knocking away both Terrorsaur and Waspinator with one shot, but Inferno hits Optimus from behind with a strong blast. The two Maximals are too damaged to fight against the killer fire ant, when to their rescue comes Tigatron, who can't sit passively while his friends are close to death.

Inferno's flamethrower ignites a bush, adding to Tigatron's fury. The cat blasts Inferno into the distance, ending the Predacon's campaign. Tigatron extinguishes the fire and is welcomed back to the Beast Wars. Although he still hates the collateral damage, Tigatron now understands he can do more good as a warrior than a bystander.
Continuity errors
* Dinobot says that the Great War began three centuries ago. What he meant to say was that it ended three centuries ago.
Miscellaneous trivia
* Rattrap and Rhinox aren't seen in the episode, but Rhinox is mentioned by Primal.
* As Tigatron berates Inferno, both Primal and Dinobot stand behind him, waving their fingers.
* At the beginning of the episode, Cheetor and Dinobot are searching for more alien sites. This is foreshadowing.
* The wild tiger that Dinobot and Tigatron observe looks rather strange: it is, of course, just a direct color swap of Tigatron's animation model replacing all the white with orange, which results in the tiger being completely orange whereas a real tiger would still have white fur all over its underbelly, neck, and face.

The majestic predatory cat Snowstalker once prowled the distant frozen lands and mountaintops of prehistoric Earth. Like all members of her species she was typically a loner, but a chance encounter with the Maximals and Predacons would change her life... and also prematurely end it.

Fiction
Beast Wars cartoon
Snowstalker was the animal template scanned by Tigatron's stasis pod. With his memory circuits damaged, Tigatron felt like he was more animal than robot, and he chose to stay in the wild alongside Snowstalker. Fallen Comrades The two roamed and hunted together, forming a strong pair bond—Optimus Primal was aware of how special Snowstalker was to Tigatron.

By a cruel twist of fate, in a heated battle with the Predacons an errant shot from Tigatron caused a rockslide on the mountain Snowstalker was climbing, and she was crushed to death. In his grief, Tigatron marked her final resting place with a grave marker made out of stacked stones. At the time he swore he would never be able to bury another friend and thus could no longer participate in combat of any kind, though he soon had to reconsider. Law of the Jungle

Notes
* White tigers are an extremely rare product of recessive genes, and the very few individuals encountered in the wild have all inhabited humid tropical environments. Snowstalker (and thus Tigatron) may not represent a proper tiger as modern humans would envision, but, rather, another tiger-like big cat that in the subsequent four million years has gone extinct. If indeed Snowstalker is part of a contemporary species of tigers, then it is also possible that she would have been the product of inbreeding, since mating a cub with its mother can also produce white tigers.
The Predacons steal the rectifier coil from the Maximal base, which causes the Maximals to revert into a more feral state.

Synopsis
A cheetah enthusiastically chases some antelopes, when the ground around it breaks up and it is sent falling into hot lava. Before the cat gets burned, the sequence ends, revealed to be a dream of Cheetor's. Cheetor awakens from his nightmare in time to hear the alarms triggered by a Predacon assault. As the other Maximals prepare Sentinel, Dinobot drags Cheetor outside to battle.

Primal exits the Maximals' control room via the roof hatch, but is unable to prevent Waspinator and Terrorsaur from grabbing a piece of Maximal hardware off the roof and retreating with the other Predacons. A well-placed rocket from Megatron prevents Primal from chasing the fliers. Airazor is just able to catch the Maximal leader before he crashes into the ground, but lowering Primal after taking a hit from Terrorsaur seriously taxes Airazor's systems. On the upside, the Predacons are no longer attacking.

Inside the base, recuperating, the Maximals suddenly feel the harmful effects of Energon build-up. Rhinox explains that without the rectifier coil the Predacons stole, the Maximals will have to stay in Beast Mode. Meanwhile, the Predacons, after an uncharacteristically successful mission, enjoy a hearty laugh together.

Days later, Rhinox interrupts a dream Primal has (of being a real ape) to mention that Predacons are still haunting the local area. Rattrap suffers frustration from his Beast Mode's diminutive size and limb length. Primal and Rattrap almost get into a fight with each other, their minds suffering from bestial traits leaking into their personalities, but Rhinox lays down the line. Once the Preds leave, the Maximals take some much-needed rest.

In his dreams, Primal is tormented by eyes glowing in the dark, Dinobot dreams of hunting surprisingly tiny hadrosaurs, and Rattrap dreams of rat stuff. The dreams overpower their respective dreamers, and the Maximals awaken, trapped in the mindsets of the creatures whose forms they wear. The animals all eventually exit their base. Their foes' intellects gone, Megatron and the Predacons begin their hunt.

Airazor exits the CR Chamber to meet Tigatron in the empty Maximal base. Tigatron resolves to reform his Maximal companions before they're killed, while Airazor has her own mission. She heads to the unoccupied Predacon base, deftly dodging the automated defenses. Inside, the rectifier coil is under no protection she can't destroy.

In the jungle, Tigatron comes to face the feral Cheetor and Rhinox. The two follow him for reasons their animal minds don't comprehend. Next Tigatron recruits the primal Optimus into his party, and finally Dinobot and Rattrap. His friends gathered, Tigatron speaks to the dormant minds of his friends. He explains how the schism that exists between the Maximals' two modes is a side effect of a programming block, and as long as that program exists, the animal and Maximal identities will never reach cohesion. Now embracing the beasts within, the restored Maximals are ready to "Slag some bot!"

Primal swings Megatron off of his throne as the two Maximal cats tackle the two Predacon goons who were carrying their leader. Dinobot's raptor mode conquers Blackarachnia. Rhinox knocks over a tree to ground the Predacon fliers, and a ratball special puts Rattrap into position to pump gunfire into Terrorsaur. After the Predacons start to feel the effects of Energon build-up, Megatron orders a retreat.

Other notes
Animation errors
Continuity errors
* In one of the bigger continuity errors in Beast Wars—because it is actually in the spoken dialogue and not a result of careless animation or time-filling sound edits—Megatron says his plan is contingent on his research of Maximal programming, and Tigatron later confirms the existence of this specifically Maximal weakness. So why is Dinobot affected at all?

Other errors
* In his beast dream, Dinobot—supposedly experiencing the instincts of his beast mode, Asia's Velociraptor—dreams of chasing what appears to be a Parasaurolophus, which only lived in the Americas and which furthermore is portrayed as far too small. Since the creature is never actually named, it may be taken as representing a different dinosaur species as-yet-undiscovered.

Transformers references
Real-world references
* The episode was likely named after Jack London's 1903 novel The Call of the Wild.
* Airazor's "she stoops to conquer" line is a double reference: first, and most obviously, to 1773 play She Stoops to Conquer, and secondly to a stoop, which is the dive of a bird of prey. Some people do not get it.

Miscellaneous trivia
* This episode marks the only use of Megatron's right arm-mounted missile launcher, which fires from the same port the laser beam emanates from. What is with Transformers and the one-use weapons?
* This episode explores many themes that several of the same characters would later explore in Beast Machines. The idea of the Maximals taking on more bestial personalities because of their beast modes is used in the episode "Forbidden Fruit". A similar concept would have been touched on in the unproduced Beast Wars episode "A Greater Ape".
* When the Maximal computer announces that the Predacons are withdrawing from the area, text in the Maximal version of the Cybertronix language scrolls by the bottom of the screen, and more text flashes in blue in the middle of the screen. The blue flashing text reads "area clear", and the text on the bottom reads "its been a long time since ive had sweet thistle pie".
Starscream
:Starscream is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Starscream is easily as accomplished, powerful and deserving of leadership as Megatron. At least, that's what he thinks. Power-hungry and driven by jealousy, Starscream operates through three ideals: lying, manipulation and deception. And when all else fails, a bit of sabotage never goes astray. Wise bots are careful about turning their backs on Starscream, just in case it's the day he finally decides to shove in the knife.

Though not as powerful as Megatron (despite what he thinks of himself), Starscream is by no means a wimp. His weapons can demolish large buildings, and he can fly around so fast that he can break free of Ratchet's magnetic powers. Unfortunately, all these abilities are offset by an enormous ego and the tendency to make long, overbearing speeches when he should just get on with it and fight. More than once, his leanings towards bombast have caused him to miss a golden opportunity. Sadly, he doesn't seem to be learning from these mistakes.

Starscream was aboard the Nemesis when it came across an Autobot repair ship that appeared to be emitting the energy signature of the fabled AllSpark. Starscream's doubt of the AllSpark's very existence and his dismissal of Megatron's millennia-long search did not sit well with Lugnut, and an argument broke out on the bridge until Megatron himself arrived and all fell silent. Starscream was forced to eat his words when Blackarachnia confirmed that the energy coming off the ship was indeed that of the AllSpark, but quickly volunteered to secure it for his leader. Seeing through his lieutenant's greed, Megatron put a dent in Starscream's wing and rose to obtain it for himself. As he was leaving, however, Starscream arrived at the airlock to wish Megatron luck and patted him on the back—planting an overload device on him in the process. As Megatron attacked the Autobot ship, the device overloaded his circuits and caused an explosion that led Starscream to believe that Megatron was no more. In the aftermath of the blast, Starscream got so caught up in his own greatness that he didn't notice that his comrades had left him on the ship, hurtling towards an exploding space bridge.

Surviving the explosion, Starscream spent the next fifty solar cycles searching for the AllSpark on his own, using the damaged ship as a base (and probably getting a few screws loose in his central processor in the meantime). Detecting the faint signal of the AllSpark on Earth, Starscream tapped into television broadcasts from the planet and discovered that the Autobot ship had landed there. While heading for the planet, Starscream was approached by Blackarachnia, who was also seeking the AllSpark for her own purposes and proposed an alliance. Starscream was unsurprisingly unwilling to share power, and he booted Blackarachnia out into space just before the ship warped away. Starscream was so occupied by the task, however, that he failed to notice Earth's moon appearing in the ship's path. Dispatches

One crash-landing later, Starscream abandoned the ruined hulk of the ship and headed down to Earth, immediately drawing the attention of military jets. After a brief dogfight, Starscream scanned one of the jets as an alternate mode in order to continuing searching incognito. The search did not go on long, as Starscream found the Autobots watching a Crimson Angels air show, and he quickly joined in the proceedings. Upon revealing himself to the Autobots, he quickly thrashed each of them individually. Starscream mocked them, apparently assuming that the Autobots thought they had really defeated Megatron (whom he referred to as "the great Megatron" without sarcasm, so he seems to have at least a loathing respect for his leader's power). All too boastful of his cunning, Starscream boldly admitted that Megatron was already defeated by the bomb which Starscream himself had put on him. Despite being more powerful than the Autobots, Starscream failed to take the AllSpark, partially because he spent too much time gloating. Optimus Prime grabbed Starscream in midair, and they opened the AllSpark, releasing a massive wave of energy. Optimus was killed by the energy surge and subsequent fall (he got better), while Starscream disappeared. Transform and Roll Out

Starscream was hurled into the wilderness by the AllSpark energy surge, where he lay, unconscious and undisturbed, for an unspecified period of time. Eventually, Starscream came back online, only to discover that his body had succumbed to stasis lock, leaving him immobile. As "luck" would have it, it was at this moment that he was happened upon by the villainous Professor Princess, whom Starscream attempted to sweet-talk into triggering his manual reset. She was insistent upon "fixing up" Starscream first, plastering him with makeup and a wig, but when the horrified Starscream screamed at her, she just decided to blast him. Her rainbow-blast jumpstarted Starscream's systems, and he seized the Professor, but before he could reduce her to a pink stain, she threatened to broadcast an image of the prettified Starscream all over the world and perhaps the galaxy. Preferring not to be hideously embarrassed, Starscream let her live and quickly departed, unaware that she'd worked her fashion magic on his wings, too. Whatever Happened To Whatisname?

Starscream laid low on Earth, until he revealed himself to a badly damaged Blitzwing and Lugnut, offering them help in exchange for their loyalty. Lost and Found (episode) After repairing the duo, Starscream continually had to reassert his authority over the two walking malfunctions, who were quick to point out that their service was by threat, not choice. As Lugnut went prostrate with praise, Starscream was initially quite flattered by the hulking Decepticon's obsequity, but quickly learned that the big guy was being manipulated by an outside source. Tracking the transmission, he came to Sumdac Tower and was quite surprised to find the disembodied head of his former leader. Megatron, aware of Starscream's betrayal after seeing a news report on his earlier battle with the Autobots Home Is Where the Spark Is but not wanting to tip his hand, greeted Starscream as a "devoted and faithful subject", while Starscream adopted a subservient attitude himself. Beginning the smug monologue to end all smug monologues, he was interrupted by the senseless heroics of the Autobot Bumblebee. Focusing his attentions on the yellow little squirt, he mistakenly assumed that Megatron was helpless, an oversight that allowed the galactic despot to control the lab's machinery and defenestrate the traitor. Even so Starscream remained fixated on Bumblebee, and thus was caught unaware when the repaired form of Megatron burst from the tower roof. Megatron Rising - Part 1

Starscream watched with interest, tossing Bumblebee around absentmindedly as Megatron trashed the Autobots. When Megatron called out his loyal Decepticons, Starscream gracefully landed on Lugnut's head, ready to return to his position as second-in-command. Megatron prepared to fire on the Autobots, but quickly lashed out and rammed the Key into Starscream's chest, seemingly offlining the traitor, who then crumpled to the ground. Megatron Rising - Part 2

Sometime later, Starscream awoke on a garbage barge, evidently thrown in by an Autobot cleaning up Detroit. He found he couldn't detect any Decepticons, not even himself. Panicking, he wondered if he was dead, but recovered when he realized he was still on Earth. Furious, he managed to track down Lugnut and Blitzwing and to follow them to the Decepticon base. There he challenged Megatron and was soundly sliced, blasted and thrown off a cliff. However, he again revived, except now he had no spark! Starscream discovered he was being kept alive by an AllSpark fragment embedded in his head. Using this newfound immortality to his advantage, he again attacked Megatron... and again and again and again, each time taking a trouncing and having his corpse thrown off a cliff by Blitzwing and Lugnut. Discovering another fragment, he set up a trap that would draw Megatron out and blow up both him and the city. He embedded the shard in a train engine, and as the overloading machine drew out Megatron, Blitzwing, the Elite Guard AND the Earth team, the plan seemed to be working. Unfortunately, the Autobots stopped the train, and Megatron knocked Starscream out of the sky, sending him crashing into the midst of the Autobots. He blasted Ultra Magnus and took back his fragment, but was put into stasis lock when Optimus slipped some cuffs on him. He was last seen bound, gagged and being taken onto the Elite Guard vessel. Mission Accomplished

While in transit on said vessel, Starscream somehow blasted his way out, once again vowing revenge against Megatron. Magnus sent word to Optimus Prime, warning him that Starscream was most likely on his way back to Earth. Megatron, eavesdropping on the conversation, offered a substantial reward for bringing Starscream to him.

To this end, Prowl ran off by himself to the resting place of the Nemesis on the Moon, where he ran right into Starscream. Despite getting in behind Prowl, Starscream was rather easily disabled and put in stasis cuffs. While Lockdown and Prowl battled, Starscream somehow managed to escape.

Lockdown and Prowl agreed to team up, and they tracked down an apparently very scared Starscream, who was captured easily. While Lockdown brought him to Megatron, another Starscream turned up. This Starscream tried to deal with the Autobots, suggesting they team up to deal with their common enemy, Megatron. Prowl disabled him with ease, despite making a total mess.

Shortly after Lockdown delivered "Starscream" into the hands of Megatron, the Autobots showed with the other Starscream. Confusion ensued, and suddenly both Starscreams exposed internal bombs, and a recording of the real Starscream revealed that his entire plan was to allow the clones of himself to be captured and take out all his enemies in one fell swoop. In his infinite wisdom, however, he apparently programmed the bombs to explode long after everyone had realized what had happened. Prowl sent the clones into the sky, where they exploded without destroying the city.

Afterwards, Megatron increased the bounty on Starscream, this time stipulating that it had to be the real one. Watching, Starscream cursed Megatron (again) and dismissed his failure, noting he had plenty more clones—an army of them. A Fistful of Energon

His time alone allowed him to produce five clones of himself, which he empowered with small slivers of the AllSpark fragment in his head, giving them life. He quickly learned that each of the Starscreams was a different aspect of his personality: cowardice, ego, sycophancy, deception, and...something else. He asked the female version of him where she came from, and she said not to ask. Once introductions were done, he ordered them on their merry way to Megatron's base. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Upon reaching the base, the clone army attacked, leading to a free-for-all against Megatron's forces and the Autobots who'd assembled to stop the Decepticon leader's plan. During the fight, Starscream became fed up with his female clone telling him how to handle Megatron, as he'd been working on killing him long before she existed. She was unimpressed with his results to date. Eventually, his team overwhelmed Megatron, allowing two of the clones to subdue him while Starscream prepared to deal the killing blow. Starscream relished the moment, wryly assuring Megatron that he'd tell everyone that he died fighting valiantly—after naming Starscream as his successor. Abruptly, Starscream got head-jacked by Isaac Sumdac in a Headmaster unit.

Starscream's inert body fell on top of his head, which put him out of action. Panicking, he told his clones to attack, but was outraged when they all sided with Megatron instead. Starscream's head was then glued to one of the walls by Mixmaster's concrete. When he tried to mock Megatron's plan for the conquest of Cybertron, he had his mouth closed by more concrete. Poor Screamer.

When Megatron's newly activated Space bridge ran out of power to maintain the portal to Cybertron, Megatron replaced the AllSpark fragment with Starscream's head, which overloaded the power systems. This caused the portal to expand and attempt to suck everything around it into itself. This included Starscream's head and Megatron, the latter of whom was disabled by Autobot stasis cuffs, which prevented him from resisting the space bridge's pull. The overload also caused the space bridge receiving coordinates to be deleted, dumping the pair into empty space. Without a body to manoeuvre, Starscream was forced to look at Megatron, while Megatron, still disabled by the stasis cuffs, suffered a similar problem. A long night of bickering commenced. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

Somehow, Starscream managed to manoeuvre his head to begin trying to free Megatron from his stasis cuffs, either by gnawing on them or by picking them with a fragment of asteroid in his mouth. Megatron berated Starscream for his incompetence, whereupon the indignant Decepticon pointed out that this would be much easier if Megatron had reattached his head to his body back on Earth, and that they wouldn't even be here if Megatron hadn't overloaded the Space Bridge. Fuelled with anger, Starscream screamed that this was all Megatron's fault, during which the fragment in his head lit up... and Starscream's face suddenly unfolded into a sonic blaster that smashed Megatron's cuffs.

This was evidently not something from Starscream's original design plans, as he could be heard asking where that had come from once it had fired. Megatron didn't care, though; all that mattered was that he was free now. Starscream was petrified when Omega Supreme chose that moment to float into view, trying to denounce Megatron in order to save his own hide. Fortunately for them both, Omega Supreme was currently offline, giving Megatron an idea. Though Starscream nearly gave the plan away when he was brought inside the awoken giant, Megatron succeeded in installing Starscream's head into the computer to be used as a combination of power source and control mechanism.

Megatron used Omega Supreme to attack the Autobots on Earth, and during the battle, Prowl infiltrated Omega, accessed his internal processor, and helped him fight off Megatron's control... only for Starscream to take over instead. He continued fighting the Autobots until Megatron suggested that they just go conquer Cybertron instead. Starscream agreed that it was a good idea, but failed to make Omega transwarp as the giant's old friend Ratchet swayed his control. Eventually overpowering Omega's mind, Starscream tried flying into space, only for Optimus Prime to plant a plasmadynamic thruster on his new body, causing it to start warping around randomly in outer space. Transwarped

At some point during Starscream and Megatron's warping adventures, Starscream stopped controlling Omega Supreme's body, again reduced to a sarcastic head. After one of the warp jumps, Lugnut suddenly smacked into their windshield and joined their merry group. Decepticon Air Removing the plasmadynamic thruster, they traveled into Cybertron airspace, even though Omega Supreme was offline and drained of energy. Starscream advocated that they abandon the hulk before the Autobots picked them off in their helpless state, but Megatron disagreed. After the Decepticon agent Shockwave obtained Omega's activation codes, they picked him up and transwarped back to Earth's moon, where Starscream noted Lugnut's anger at Megatron complimenting Shockwave. This Is Why I Hate Machines

Goading Lugnut into fighting Shockwave, Starscream used the distraction to roll himself back to his old headquarters, the wrecked Nemesis, where he used a protoform and one of his many clone bodies to get himself back to 100%. Megatron subsequently destroyed the rest of the lifeless clone bodies, before explaining to Starscream his ultimate plan—creating Decepticon clones of Omega Supreme. When the time came for these clones to imprint upon a leader, Starscream went for a power grab yet again, knocking Megatron down and taking his place. However, he was in turn tackled by the eternally loyal Lugnut, who ended up becoming the template of the three "Lugnut Supremes". As Megatron explained that this had been his plan all along, Starscream retorted that the giants would just be lifeless shells without his AllSpark fragment.

Unfortunately for him, Megatron had found three other fragments in Omega Supreme's spark chamber, and so and deemed Starscream useless before blasting his lower body to smithereens with a fusion cannon shot and leaving him on the surface of the Moon. Endgame, Part I

But this did not destroy the tenacious traitor, and he painstakingly reattached himself to a reassembled lower torso before transforming and flying to Earth. There, he was distracted from his goal of taking revenge on Megatron by a sudden severe pain in his head, which pulled him to Sumdac Towers, where he found Jazz and Prowl using their Processor-Over-Matter skills to reassemble AllSpark fragments. Realising what a threat this posed to him, he opened fire on them in an effort to distract them, but failed. His fragment was torn from his head, and Starscream, his sparkless body no longer fueled by the AllSpark, fell from the air, finally dead.

He did leave behind a nasty post-mortem surprise, however: Upon the disconnection of Lugnut from the Lugnut Supremes, a hidden program kicked in, a message from Starscream revealing that each of the Omega clones had been secretly outfitted with a nasty set of concealed explosives, now primed and ready to detonate. Unfortunately for Starscream, his revenge would not come to be. Not only did Omega Supreme destroy one clone while deactivating its explosive, the other was encased in an AllSpark-powered force field and failed to destroy anything...not even Megatron, who took the full force of the blast (albeit he was heavily damaged). Endgame, Part II
Megatron kept uncovering Starscream's hide-outs, so Starscream took his clone army and seized control of the Autobots' own base, reasoning the Decepticons would never look for him there.
: His twin "sonic shock blaster" spring-loaded missile launchers can slide forward, opening panels on his forearms (referred to as blasters on the packaging). Landing gear in his vehicle mode flip down from his undercarriage, and his blasters flip forward or back for a "hidden" attack. He also features two automorph gimmicks. When his nose cone is pushed in, his undercarriage folds into his hips. Folding his shoulders down also pushes up his head. Though not really an "automorph", with the arms and legs out of the way, his spring loaded wings fold down by themselves. His arms are also just poseable enough to stroke that enormous chin.
*Starscream (Activators, 2008)

: A smaller, simpler version of Starscream, the Activators Starscream toy has a spring-loaded autotransform gimmick that springs him from Harrier jet mode to robot mode in one easy step, although robot to Harrier jet mode is still that good old manual click-it-up yourself transformation, giving you the best of both worlds.

: Activators Starscream greatly resembles Voyager Starscream, especially when compared to several other Activators and their respective larger toys, with the only discernible difference between Activators and Voyager Starscream is that Activator Starscream's wings sit lower on his back. Most notably, this toy possesses more show-accurate weapons than its Voyager counterpart, due to the lack of a launching mechanism.

:A simple version of Starscream with a very simple transformation sequence. A tad unique among the McDonald's Animated toys, he has given up a toy accurate vehicle mode for a toy accurate robot mode. You transform him by splitting the front of the jet to form the legs, snapping up the feet, lowering the rear wings and rotating his head. His robot mode, save for the fact the wings are pointing the wrong direction and that he is missing his guns, is decently show-accurate, but his vehicle mode totally sucks. Plain and simple.
:Legends-class Starscream transforms surprisingly similarly to his larger counterparts. He is notable for being the only version of the character to have his weapons mounted correctly on his upper arms, rather than his lower arms (though this is largely because he completely lacks elbows). However, as with his past versions, he is again not gray, but apparently a shade of blue.

Notes
*In a podcasted audio interview, Marty Isenberg revealed that he originally wanted to play Starscream's name ironically — he wanted the character to have a quiet, whispery tone, as he really didn't like the screechy voice of the original Starscream (though, at the same time, he pointed out that he has nothing against his actor). Derrick J. Wyatt argued against this idea, and Tom Kenny's reading finally won Marty over.
* Though he never truly took out Megatron, this Starscream may be the most successful to bear the name to date.
* There is some confusion as to precisely what weapons Starscream has. According to the Decepticon character descriptions sent out in the initial Cartoon Network press release for Transformers Animated, Starscream "can affect a sonic scream and produce powerful blasts of sound that can send enemies spinning through the atmosphere". His toy packaging declares that he has "twin sonic shock blasters" rather than the null-rays of his Generation 1 counterpart, while a bio on the Hasbro website declares that Animated Starscream does have null-rays... while otherwise being a direct copy of the press release text, which doesn't mention them anywhere. What is unquestionably Starscream's "sonic scream" appears in the third season episode "TransWarped", apparently a modification created by the AllSpark fragment in his head. Similarly, in the same episode, Blurr tells Skywarp and Thundercracker to use alternating sonic pulses to destabilise the concrete the trio are trapped in. This could point to Starscream's arm-mounted cannons being sonic shock blasters, as he was addressing Skywarp, but also could be a reference to Generation 1 Thundercracker and his ability to create sonic booms.
*Several times in the series, Starscream's alt-mode is called a "harrier jet". In the real world, this term actually refers to just one specific jet type--the British-designed V/STOL-capable Harrier Jump Jet--which very clearly is not Starscream's altmode. Then again, the series is set about 100 years in the future, so perhaps the jet designs or terminology could have changed.
: I don't know about Kiss-Players, but I was able to track down a direct quote about Takara considering Primes from different continuity families separate characters. (God bless Jordan Derber-- The thought of that poor Takara brand manager being ambushed by a crazy Gajin with continuity questions fills my heart with joy.)
:Is there anything to say about Takara's take on this in KP? Isn't it basically the same as Hasbro's? -Derik 19:35, 15 July 2009 (EDT)

I feel like the whole thing gets arcane and murky in that section. The idea of what constitutes "different characters" between continuities is so vague and undefined that I barely understand what we're even trying to pin Hasbro down on. We deal with the question on the wiki all the time because of our artificial "continuity family" construct that informs how many incarnations of a character we can put on a single page... but outside of that application, what does the question even mean? The only impact that Hasbro's view could have would be if they declared, say, RID Hot Shot to be a dimension-hopper who went on to become Armada Hot Shot. Otherwise, as long as the two characters stay in their separate continuities, the question of whether Hasbro thinks they occupy the same "archetypal" mold is so academic as to be pointless. - Jackpot 21:44, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
:Except that Cartoon G1 Prime and Marvel Comics G1 Prime are considered the same character, despite being in different continuities.
:(The whole section should probably start with that.) -Derik 21:55, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
::Considered by whom? What do you mean when you say that, and why does it matter? You're begging my question of whether this whole exercise has a relevant point at all. - Jackpot 22:13, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
:::Arguably, you could move this whole thing in-universe. Cartoon Prime and Comics Prime are the same guy-- from the perspective of the TF Multiverse, but Armada Prime in his various incarnations is a separate guy. -Derik 22:21, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
:::The toys. Cartoon G1 Prime and Marvel Comics G1 Prime derive from the same toy. - Starfield 22:45, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
::::So do Storm Surge and Shattered Glass Seaspray. Do you see my point? All of these distinctions are so shades-of-grey, case-by-case, matter-of-degree that I really don't get how they apply outside of our particular wiki-tastic rabbit hole. - Jackpot 22:49, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
:::::That's called repurposing, which you may argue is another artificial construct of the wiki, but there is more to a toy than just the toy. Does SG Seaspray have anything to do with Storm Surge's bio, tech spec, and packaging and whatnot? - Starfield 22:55, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
::::::No, but all of that isn't really the end of the story either. For instance, I would argue that Animated Grimlock is closer in portayal to G1 cartoon Grimlock than G1 comic Grimlock is, despite the latter two starting from the exact same metafictional source material. Likewise with Shockwave. Where does the "same character" line get drawn with them? Animated is actually a great example of how this whole question looks from Hasbro's point of view. They decided to make a series that was heavily G1-influenced but still creatively free, and the result was a cast that went from slavishly G1-ish (Starscream, Omega Supreme, Swindle) to wildly different (Prowl, Jetfire, the Constructicons) with lots of grey areas in-between (Wreck-Gar, Soundwave, Jazz). How and why would Hasbro make a distinction between which of those are "archetypically" the same as their predecessors and which are "new guys"? It's just a big spectrum. - Jackpot 00:07, 16 July 2009 (EDT)

: I have no stake in this, nor do I wish to, but I do feel like I should mention that "continuity family" is no longer an entirely artificial construct. Primax, Malgus, Aurex, and all the other universal stream terminology basically make our previously artificial construct into canon. --ItsWalky 22:29, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
::Fair enough, and as Derik is suggesting, there's really no problem with talking about how "characters" are dealt with in-universe. Between the TransTech stories and now the Alternity concept, the idea that different continuties contain "alternate versions" of the "same character" is becoming part of the in-fiction canon... but I still don't get this whole "Hasbro's official position" angle. I honestly just do not understand what we're hoping Hasbro would say about it, since from their perspective I don't think the question even makes sense. - Jackpot 22:39, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
:::Depends on who at Hasbro you ask, probably. Forrest Lee (the guy largely responsible for the "Multiversal Singularity" concept) will probably understand it, whereas some people at Hasbro Corporate might think that G1 Wheeljack and Armada Wheeljack are the same guy because they have the same name, or somesuch.--Nevermore 10:53, 29 August 2009 (EDT)
2007 movie was set in the Generation 1 continuity or not
On the other hand, a timeline posted on TakaraTomy's website in 2007 suggested that the 2007 movie was set in the Generation 1 continuity, thus effectively making movie Optimus Prime the same character as G1 Optimus Prime.

It simply looks more like:
# The writer of the table simply didn't know 2007 film is in another continuity. m- That is, An Error/Mistake.
# More like a tie-in promotional ad says "Hey, do you know in the real world in 2007, there will be a whole new Transformers movie?" <small>(Though somebody may ask "Why put it in Chronicle #1 instead of #2?")</small>

:And, even if they did intend to make them the same continuity, Movie Optimus is still "Optimus Prime" in Japan, where G1 Optimus was "Convoy", ja?
This book is an encyclopedic examination of the entire Transformers Animated storyline universe. It presents exhaustively thorough character profiles and summaries of the first 2 seasons of the cartoon and the Animated Arrival comic book...all written completely in-universe, in the form of "interviews" with the characters or excerpts from their journals and other in-story media.

"Interstitial" interludes are presented out-of-universe and describe the design process behind the art, animation, and locations, as well as brief story summaries of the Titan Magazine Animated issues. Elements of toy design are covered as well, but comparatively briefly.

There are also an insane number of obscure references to Transformers minutiae culled from the 25-year history of the franchise, as well as other sci-fi and entertainment franchises as well. Basically, all proper nouns and names refer to something or someone, even if that someone is a possibly non-existent character only mentioned once in a letters page of a foreign comic. And that's before we start talking about the numbers: Almost every seemingly incongruous alphanumeric string is a reference to another franchise, be it a Star Trek stardate or a Terminator's official designation. And that's just the content in English—about a third of the book's pages have large stretches covered in Cybertronix. Deciphered, these include non-Transformers-related passages, such as extensive, verbatim quotes from diverse sources ranging from Tennyson's Ulysses to Max Headroom.

When arriving on Earth, there are millions of animal species a Cybertronian might scan for an alternate mode. Some genera, however, are extremely popular with Cybertronians.

TFWiki.net: The Transformers Wiki has certain requirements for an animal to be listed here. There must be at least three unique toy molds (or in-fiction appearances, in the case of non-toy bodies/characters) that share the beast mode. There must also be at least one unique character per mold--a single character getting numerous revamps in similar bodies over the years would not count as a "popular mode."

Each mold is listed on its own line, with all different-character decoes/retools on the same line. The list is organized in chronological order of toy release.

Synopsis
As Optimus lies defeated, Megatron stands gloating over his nemesis. To add insult to injury, Megatron has taken a new body... Primal's Optimal body, minus the beast mode. And, to make it just right, Megatron then adds the sparks of the Maximals to the spark containment chamber. Enraged, Optimus fights back, but Megatron punches him through the wall to the outside of the big floating head. Optimus manages to get in a few more shots, but stops sees the sparkless bodies of Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. Megatron takes a moment to rub it in, then attacks.

Primal flees through the city scape, flying a merry little chase, until he reaches a power generator storage area. As Megatron temporarily loses track of his prey, Optimus comes up from behind and destroys several generators. Optimus barely manages to escape the inferno, as Megatron's left arm is thrown out of the flames. After Primal makes a bad pun, Megatron emerges. As Primal jumps into a nearby river, he dives, only to have Megatron follow him in and shot a hole in the ground, causing them to sink into a whirlpool.

As Optimus wakes up, he realizes he is in the chamber of the Oracle. However, the technorganic orchard has been completely destroyed. Worse for Primal, he sees Rattrap and Botanica's sparkless bodies, lying on the ground, with their hands streched toward each other. Megatron then arrives, and takes him to the surface.

Heading toward the Council Citadel, Megatron activates a throne built into the Citadel to appear, then opens the spark chamber, absorbing the sparks and preparing to ascend to supplant the Matrix and achieve Godhood. As the sparks enter his body, Megatron grows in size. Primal tries to talk, saying that each spark is but a part of the Matrix and that together, they add to its totality. Megatron then activates the Key to Vector Sigma, to be used against the organic core. However, Megatron cannot fully activate the Oracle, as he and Primal are linked. Megatron then severs the link, and Primal fears that he has failed.

However, the sparks of his comrades speak to him, inspiring him on. Shooting a beam at Megatron's throne, vines extend and grab Megatron's arms. Primal then tries to push him into the core. However, Megatron grabs hold of Optimus, who merely shoots off Megatron's fingers to sever the vine, allowing them both to fall into the core. As they plummet, Primal bids Megatron farewell. Upon impact with the core, both Optimus and Megatron die in a flash of light. From space, a bright light rises, then begins to cover the surface of Cybertron.

Waking up, the Maximals find themselves on a technorganic world, which they realize is Cybertron. Rattrap is somewhat worried, then Botanica appears, and he jumps into her arms. As Silverbolt sweeps Blackarachnia off her feet, Waspinator appears as a tiny, technorganic wasp, pissed that he's been screwed over again. Then, the Oracle shows Cheetor a vision of Optimus Primal's spark, flying away, telling him to "transform, and transcend". As it fades, Cheetor mutters that he understands. In the distance, the freed Transformers, their sparks once again in bodies, run over the horizon, ready to assume control of the newly technorganic Cybertron.

'Til all are one.
"What are you doing?!"<br />
"Planting the seeds of the future. We must seek the balance, Megatron. Not only between the organic and the technological, but the balance between eternal enemies. Between you and I!"

"The Great Transformation awaits, Megatron. Prepare to be... reformatted."<br />
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"

"The menace has passed. Now we can truly be together, dark venom of my heart."<br />
"Waspinator want glory, Waspinator want power! And what does Waspinator get?! (Waspinator gets swatted away by Rattrap) Waspinator never gets what Waspinator wants!
:—Poor old Waspinator, who now is the size of a regular wasp and has Thrust's head.

"At long last. Transform your destiny. Transform and... transcend."<br />
"I... understand."
:—The Oracle and Cheetor

Notes
Technical/animation glitches
* The freed Transformers that appear at the end of the episode have pretty weird running animations. They are running forward, but their legs are moving as if they're running sideways.

Continuity errors
* When Megatron blasts Optimus out of the Spark Chamber room, the deactivated body of Thrust is seen right next to those of Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. The problem with this is that Silverbolt and Blackarachnia were deactivated outside of the base, whereas Thrust was deactivated by Cheetor inside the anti-gravity engine room in the previous episode. Though that doesn't necessarily preclude the possibility that Megatron's drones moved the empty shells.

Transformers references
*While in his vehicle modes, Megatron stores his spark in his cockpit. This is the same place that Primal stored the original Optimus Prime's spark during Optimal Situation.
*Megatron uses all of Optimus Optimus's modes (minus his removed beast mode) during this episode, arguably with greater efficiency than Primal did.
*When calling the sparks to him, Megatron says "let us all become one!"

Other notes
* "Transform and transcend"? Was that a hint at the transcendent technomorph idea that would have followed had it not been cancelled?
*The Oracle makes contact with Cheetor towards the end of the episode. This is later played on in the comics, where later stories would establish Cheetor as a Matrix Templar alongside Rodimus and Snarl.

Unicron is the eternal arch-enemy of his twin brother Primus. He is known as the Dark God, the Chaos Bringer, the Planet Eater, and he is dedicated to consuming the multiverse. His goal is to bring an end to the annoying creation boasting independence around him, and find peace by becoming the living center of a swirling, infinite torrent of nothingness at the end of all things.

To undertake this seemingly overwhelming task, Unicron is able to travel across realities at will, a meandering plague upon existence itself. Integrated into his systems are incomprehensible quantum computers which calculate probabilities forward and backwards in time, in perpetuity, giving his processors an ever changing, evolving map of the multiverse.

The only thing that he fears is Primus' essence, contained inside the Matrix.

Frequently, Unicron will make deals with lesser beings, giving them vast new powers in exchange for their servitude. These minions are sometimes stripped entirely of their free will, but others follow him willingly. Service to Unicron, however, is a double edged sword, for it causes insanity and loss of self. And in the end, no matter their intent, Unicron's plans ultimately call for their consumption as well.

In the beginning
Before the dawn of time, Order and Chaos existed within an extra-dimensional entity known as The One. To explore the fledgling universe, he created the astral being known as Unicron, and then subdivided him, creating his twin, Primus. Both brothers were multiversal singularities, unique in all realities, but whereas Unicron could only exist in one dimension at a time, moving between them at will, Primus existed simultaneously in all realities at once. It is suggested, in fact, that the two brothers embody the basic concepts of reality—good and evil, order and chaos—and that their continued existence is necessary for the stability of the multiverse.

As Unicron and Primus went about their appointed task, venturing through the cosmos, it became apparent to Primus that Unicron was a corrupt being, and he took it upon himself to stop the threat posed to all of existence by his sibling. In combat, Primus was no match for Unicron. In cunning, however, he proved himself to be his brother's superior when he shifted their battle to the astral plane, and then back to the physical world once more, only to have both their essences manifest within metallic planetoids, leaving them both trapped. It was with this act of sacrifice that Primus hoped to contain Unicron's evil forever. Unfortunately for him, over time, Unicron learned to psionically shape his prison into a giant metallic planet, and Primus followed suit, becoming the mechanical world of Cybertron. When Unicron then learned to transform his planetary form even further, into a gigantic robot form, Primus adapted the idea to suit his own ends, creating a group of thirteen robots that possessed the ability to change shape, like Unicron.

The war between Unicron and Primus came to its seeming end during a climactic battle in which one of the Thirteen, who would forever afterwards be known as The Fallen, betrayed Primus and became an acolyte of Unicron. The battle ended when the Fallen and Unicron were sucked into a black hole and disappeared from reality. With Unicron gone for now, Primus entered an eons-long slumber, his self-imposed sleep preventing Unicron from detecting him through the mental link the brothers shared.

Evolution of the Primus/Unicron myth
The Primus/Unicron backstory has evolved and been rewritten a good number of times since it first originated in the Marvel Comics series. The version recounted above is the current iteration, which has slowly solidified across a wide swath of media (beginning around the time of Armada). Before the Primus/Unicron mythos reached its present form it went through several distinct versions in the Marvel G1 comics and elsewhere.

Unicron's story
The first time we ever heard the Primus/Unicron backstory was in the UK comic continuity, from Unicron himself, in the story "The Legacy of Unicron!", when he recounted it to Death's Head. Per Unicron's telling of events, he was a primal force of evil at the dawn of the universe, who led a legion of Dark Armies against his mortal foe, Primus, Lord of the Light Gods (note the plural). Events proceeded to play out basically as described above, though the role of the Light Gods and Dark Armies would diminish with each subsequent retelling of the story, until the current version, in which Primus and Unicron are alone, and have a unique origin.

The Keeper's story
The second time the story was told was in the US book by the Keeper, an ancient mechanoid who guarded Primus' head at the center of Cybertron. This telling is effectively the same as the previous UK story, but mentions that their battle was towards the end of the era of gods, that Primus and Unicron were the last of their respective pantheons, and Primus had to defeat Unicron before he could take his place with the other gods in the "Omniversal Matrix".

Primus's story
The third time the story was told was also in the US Marvel series, this time by Primus, when he gathered all his children together to prepare for Unicron's coming. It was with this telling that we learned that Unicron predated the current universe, and had destroyed the previous universe which existed before the current one. He had slept peacefully, alone in the void of un-creation that remained, until fragments of the old universe that he had overlooked reacted, causing the Big Bang and birthing the current universe. The "sentient core" of this new universe recognized the threat that Unicron posed, and so created Primus to counter his evil and be guardian of the new creation.

Fleer and DK
The first modern retelling of the origins of Primus and Unicron did not come from G1-oriented media, but from a set of Armada trading cards released by Fleer. It was the backstory printed on Unicron's card which introduced the concept of the two being brothers created to explore the new universe by an extradimensional entity, here named the "Allspark."

This was subsequently expanded on and combined with aspects of the various Marvel Comics stories in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide, published by Dorling Kindersley and written by Simon Furman, who had written all three prior tellings in the first place. Here, the entity Fleer had called the "Allspark" was redubbed "The One", and the modern iteration of the myth detailed above was firmly established, and went on to form the backbone of subsequent fiction such as Universe and Fun Publications' Cybertron comics.

Generation 1 continuity family
Marvel Comics Generation 1 continuity
Eventually, millions of years later, circa the Earth year 1990, a group of Transformers discovered the sleeping form of Primus at Cybertron's core. When a battle erupted, a stray laser blast struck Primus, briefly jolting the god awake and causing him to emit a multiverse-shaking "Primal Scream" that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location. Primus himself immediately slipped back into his sleep, but it was too late. Primal Scream (issue)

Unicron re-created and dispatched a group of heralds to retrieve a Galvatron All Fall Down (issue) who was plucked from an alternate future in which Unicron had succeeded in consuming Cybertron. He sent all four of them to attack Cybertron and pave the way for his coming. The Gathering Storm

So close to Cybertron he could taste it, Unicron decided to fore-go consumption of the planet Jhi and hasten on his way to the ultimate confrontation. His herald Galvatron, however, was not content to serve under Unicron, and instead captured Autobot leader Emirate Xaaron, forcing him to fully awaken Primus. Suspecting treachery on Galvatron's part, Unicron sent Hook, Line and Sinker to retrieve him from the screening subterranean tunnels of Cybertron, but Galvatron destroyed them, and Primus was woken from his slumber. Unicron's arch-foe possessed Xaaron's body and summoned Transformers from all across the universe back to Cybertron. Out of Time!

Unicron shut down his higher mental functions and drifted for the remainder of the journey to hide himself from detection by Primus. At this point, a mental command that Unicron had placed in some of Primus's creations was activated, resulting in the formation of a cult of Unicron-worshipers, who gathered to destroy the leader of the united Autobots and Decepticons. These Unicron cultists were drawn out when Optimus Prime was named commander of Primus's army. They tried to assassinate the Autobot leader; they failed, but distracted the Cybertronians long enough for Unicron to arrive. The Void! (US)

Transforming back to robot mode upon arrival, he was somewhat disappointed to find that the gathered Transformers were simply so terrified of him that there was no resistance to his attack. Unicron destroyed Xaaron's body, robbing Primus of his avatar, but was then attacked by his former servant, Galvatron, whose first strike snapped the Transformers out of their collective stupor and began a counter-attack against the Chaos-Bringer. Briefly fazed by the illusion-casting powers of the human Neo-Knight Rapture, Unicron's systems were attacked by the electrical powers of Circuit Breaker. Enraged that he had been made to feel pain, Unicron dispensed with his hands-on approach and transformed into planet mode to consume Cybertron, at which point Optimus Prime flew into Unicron's maw and opened the Creation Matrix, destroying the dark god. On the Edge of Extinction!

His body destroyed in this timeline, Unicron's essence moved to another plane of reality, and made continued attempts on Primus and Cybertrons across many other realities.

Earthforce
earthforcefiction
Due to unknown circumstances, Unicron was delayed in his advance towards Cybertron after the Primal Scream and Grimlock was able to use Nucleon to awaken the Underbase-offlined Autobots long before he arrived. Two Steps Back! While Grimlock formed Earthforce, Optimus Prime continued to prepare the main force for Unicron's imminent arrival. Break-Away!

However, with an attempted Decepticon alliance ruined beyond all recovery and the Matrix still lost, Optimus had to turn to the original site of the Underbase—as the Underbase was linked to the centre of Cybertron, the Autobots could tap into that centre (and thus Primus himself) as a substitute Matrix. The Autobots succeeded in finding this site; it can be safely assumed that when Unicron finally got around to arriving, they were able to shoot him with the core of the planet. See what happens when you put off doing something? The Magnificent Six!
Marvel UK continuity
In the parallel timeline of Earth-120185, Unicron did not arrive at Cybertron until the year 2006, consuming the small planet Lithone on his way. As he drew closer to Cybertron, Unicron came upon the damaged bodies of Decepticon leader Megatron and several of his Decepticon followers, who had been jettisoned into space following a major battle at Autobot City on Earth. Unicron extended Megatron a bargain, offering the rebuild him and his troops into new beings to serve him, and tortured the recalcitrant Decepticon leader into accepting. Transformers: The Movie (Marvel Comics) Now reborn as Galvatron, Megatron immediately began scheming to destroy his “master”, using a time-jump mechanism to travel back in time to 1986, where he constructed a solar cannon that was powerful enough to destroy Unicron's physical form. Fully aware of his pawn's actions, Unicron took control of the minds of Hot Rod, Kup, and Blurr and had them follow Galvatron back in time to foil his plan. Target: 2006

After Galvatron return to 2006, Unicron subjected him to another torturing and sent him to continue his mission to steal the Matrix of Leadership. Galvatron succeeded, but when he attempted to use the Matrix against Unicron, Unicron transformed to robot mode and ate him for his impertinence. Unicron then proceeded to launch his attack on Cybertron, but as he tore into the planet, a Quintesson spaceship piloted by Hot Rod crashed into eye, depositing its Autobot passengers inside his body. Hot Rod soon located Galvatron, reclaimed the Matrix and opened it within Unicron, destroying the planet-eater. Transformers: The Movie (Marvel Comics)

Only Unicron's head survived the explosion of his body, and it floated off through space to eventually crash-land on the planet Junkion. There, the still-conscious Unicron used mind control to force the native Junkions to build him a new body out of the planet. At the beginning of 2008, he pulled Cyclonus, Scourge and Death's Head into his thrall and used them to re-ignite the stalemated Cybertronian war in order to keep the Autobots distracted from his activities. Ultimately, however, he was defeated by Death's Head and the Autobots. His head was destroyed, and his mind was sealed within the Matrix. The Legacy of Unicron!

On New Year's Day 2009, Unicron reached out from within the Matrix and took control of Rodimus Prime's body, Edge of Impact only to be stopped when Kup ripped the talisman out of his chest. Unfortunately, this meant they lost their chance to purify the Matrix and that Unicron would be ready for them next time. White Fire In 2010, he repeated the trick and succeeded in transforming Rodimus's body into a copy of his own before being forced back. In the far future of 2356, Unicron's essence still resides within the Matrix, steadily withering the struggling body of Rodimus. Aspects of Evil!

{{note|The concept that Transformer weaponry could destroy Unicron was never brought up again after "Target: 2006", and doesn't quite fit with the idea of Unicron as primordial demi-god. In this universe, Unicron's body was constructed by the ancient genius known as Primacron at the dawn of the universe. Primacron had hoped that Unicron would scour the galaxy clean of life, leaving a blank slate for him to experiment upon, but naturally, Unicron had no desire to be the servant of another, and turned on Primacron, badly wounding him and his assistant, and setting out into the depths of space. Call of the Primitives

In the year 2005, Unicron made his most famous attack upon Cybertron. While heading towards the planet, he consumed the small world of Lithone, making it perfectly clear how great of a threat he was to the entire universe. As he continued on his way, Unicron's powers allowed him to become aware of the death of Optimus Prime, who handed the Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus just before dying, which angered him tremendously. He then came upon the bodies of several wounded and dying Decepticons, who had been dumped into space following a recent battle on Earth. He extended a proposition to the Decepticons' leader, Megatron, offering to rebuild his body and those of his troops in exchange for their destruction of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. Tortured into accepting, Megatron was transformed into Galvatron, and his followers became Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps.

While Galvatron set about reclaiming leadership of the Decepticons, Unicron arrived at Cybertron, and proceeded to consume the planet's two moons. Outraged that Unicron would do this to a planet that he viewed as his, Galvatron found himself the victim of mental torture by his creator, and ordered to Earth to complete the task given him. The ensuing chase finally climaxed in a showdown on the Planet of Junk, where Galvatron seized the Matrix and returned to Unicron, only to reveal that he intended to use the talisman to make Unicron his slave. Amused by his pawn's arrogance, Unicron transformed into his gigantic robot mode and ate Galvatron. Unicron then tore into Cybertron, as Shockwave and the rest of the Decepticons on the planet fought back, to little effect. Unicron swallowed many spaceships, and one, which contained the young Autobot Hot Rod and his comrades, crashed through Unicron's eye. Hot Rod and Galvatron battled deep inside Unicron, and ultimately, Hot Rod was able to retake the Matrix from the Decepticon. Transformed by its power into Rodimus Prime, he defeated Galvatron and opened the Matrix inside Unicron, destroying his body from within. The Transformers: The Movie

Unicron's survived the destruction of his body, and was caught in Cybertron's gravity, becoming a new moon for the planet-a grisly testament to the satellites he had destroyed. Seeking to locate Galvatron, who had been hurled into space at the conclusion of his battle with Rodimus Prime, Cyclonus and Scourge visited Unicron's head and accessed the remaining databanks there, replaying footage of the final battle that allowed them to extrapolate Galvatron's trajectory and current location. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1

In the year 2006, the ghost of the deceased Decepticon Starscream reactivated Unicron's head, in order to make a bargain with the Chaos-Bringer—in exchange for Unicron restoring his body, Starscream would recreate Unicron's. Stealing new optic circuits and a transformation cog for Unicron from Metroplex and Trypticon, Starscream was then directed to connect Unicron's head to Cybertron, so that the planet could become his new body. Starscream initially attempted to do this by using Trypticon's body, but Trypticon was deactivated by the Decepticons. Unicron restored Starscream's body so that he could finish the task, but Starscream (somewhat predictably, being Starscream) double-crossed the dark god and refused to complete the necessary connections. Just then, explosives set by the Autobots were detonated, hurling Unicron's head off the planet, beyond its gravity, and out into space. Ghost in the Machine

Later, seeking a supply of the dangerous particles known as anti-electrons, Galvatron and the Decepticons traveled to Unicron's head, only to come under attack from the defenses of the barely-aware giant. Also present was the Dinobot, Grimlock, who used components from Unicron's head to create the Technobots to fight Galvatron's forces. On the planet Gaea, a group of Predacons somehow came into possession of a mysterious spheroid object known as the Black Ball. The strange artifact was of some importance to the Predacons; it may in fact have told Magmatron that he could rule the galaxy once he had the seven Angolmois capsules.

When Big Convoy came to rescue five Maximal rookies who were trapped in the Predacon base on Gaea, the Maximals found the Black Ball and retrieved it. The Five Rookies

After the Maximal returned to the Gung Ho, they attempted to analyze the Black Ball. However, the Black Ball activated the ship's warp engine. During the warp, the Black Ball began to speak, telling the Maximals about the Angolmois capsules, which originated from the final conflict between Lio Convoy and Galvatron on the Nemesis. It also told them that there were seven Angolmois energy capsules scattered across the galaxy in total. The Maximals were warned that they must retrieve all the capsules to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands, or the galaxy would be in extreme danger. The Gung Ho subsequently arrived at the planet Sandron, where one of the capsules was located. There are Seven Capsules

The Black Ball guided Big Convoy's team to various other places where capsules were located.

When Magmatron, who was in the healing room due to wounds caused by Big Convoy, learned that he lost his main troops in the battle on Jörmungandr, the Black Ball suddenly showed up from nowhere. The Black Ball told Magmatron that it could see he was short-handed. The Black Ball offered Magmatron some "helpers" — the Blendtrons, who emerged from within the Black Ball. A Battle Fought Alone

The Black Ball told both Big Convoy and Magmatron of the planet where the last capsule was located. Magmatron faced off with Big Convoy there, and ordered the Blendtrons to attack the Maximals. One of the Blendtrons, however, chose to attack Magmatron instead. The action of the Blendtrons baffled both Big Convoy and Magmatron alike. The Black Ball then arrived on the planet's surface. Double Cross

It was revealed that the Black Ball was actually Unicron himself, or more specifically, his essence, while the Angolmois energy was his life force. Unicron absorbed the six capsules and reformed his head out of the Black Ball. He then revealed that the last capsule was actually Big Convoy and Magmatron, who were evolved by the power of the Angolmois capsule on their home planet. Double Cross

Big Convoy teamed up with Magmatron to fight against Unicron, but failed. Big Convoy was saved by Heinrad, while Magmatron was chewed up and spat out by Unicron. After dealing with the Transformers, Unicron headed to the planet Cybertron. He latched onto the planet like a parasite and turned it into his new body. Double Cross

Unicron desired to consume Big Convoy, the last half of the capsule, in order to make his right eye fully functional once more. His physical body was destroyed by Big Convoy after a harsh battle with Big Convoy's crew. However, Unicron's essence emerged from his physical remains and plastered itself onto Big Convoy's body, trying to possess him. Big Convoy removed the Matrix from his chest and unleashed its power, sacrificing himself and successfully destroying Unicron once and for all. Return to Zero
G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers
Here, Unicron enslaved the population of the worlds he ate to maintain his inner works; one race included the Battle Beasts. He is known about in Transformer legend, and is said to have been banished from his homeworld.

Thousands of years ago, when humanity was at a primitive stage, Unicron turned up to devour the Earth. The ancestors of Cobra-La, however, had developed a metal-eating spore that could potentially kill Unicron. They came to an agreement—they would go into exile, while Unicron would merely eat human civilisation once it had developed to a useful point. Eventually they did, and Unicron began broadcasting announcements of "I Return" as he headed towards Earth. Black Horizon, Part 1 of 2

Unicron reached Earth and transformed so as to consume civilisation in robot form. Japan was devastated and humanity collectively wet itself. But the world was saved by Cosmos and Flint, who flew into the Chaos-Bringer and doused his organic looking brain with Cobra-La's metal-eating spores. Unicron was killed, the world was saved, and G.I. Joe went on to explore the dead monster's innards. Black Horizon, Part 2 of 2

{{note|With no mention of the Primus/Unicron mythology (instead mentioning a banishment), the willingness to only eat parts of worlds and leave their populations alive to serve him, and his death-by-fungus, Unicron in Devil's Due does differ ever-so-slightly from his depiction by other companies. In yet another timeline that followed his destruction in 2005, Unicron's essence was again sent spiraling through time and space, to crash on prehistoric Earth, prior to the conflict known as the Beast Wars which would occur on the planet. It is unclear if this was a deliberate attempt by Unicron to preserve his power or not, but this "dark essence" seemed to lack any real sentience, suggesting that it was merely Unicron's "power," while his spark remained in his intact head in the future.

The dark essence was discovered by a Predacon known as the Hunter, who recognized the dark god's power, and fashioned from the essence the Matrix of Conquest, a twisted version of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership which he used to conquer and rule over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future, under the name "Shokaract". Resistance against Shokaract resulted in an attempt by his opponents to travel back and time and destroy the dark essence on prehistoric Earth, thereby erasing Shokaract from history, but the villain travelled back in time to stop this effort. A massive battle between him and Transformers from throughout the multiverse ensued, but eventually, thanks to the efforts of the Covenant, history was altered so that Unicron's essence never arrived on prehistoric Earth, erasing this timeline—and Shokaract—from existence. Terminus
Sometime after a series of events similar to those of Lio Convoy and Big Convoy's experiences on Gaea in another universe, Unicron's heralds, the Blendtrons, were instructed by the Chaos Bringer's essence to gather the Angolmois capsules scattered across the galaxy, which contained Unicron's energy. The taint of Angolmois would cause unrest and violence across Cybertron as the planet tore itself apart in renewed savage mindless conflict. At the same time, Unicron's chosen yet unwitting vessel, Shokaract, was fed Angolmois by the Blendtrons, having been convinced that it would grant him the power to be reborn as a god. In one potential timeline, this did indeed happen as Unicron was reborn from Shokaract's corrupted form, and the Chaos Bringer proceeded to consume Cybertron itself.

However, this was averted before it came to pass - thanks to the actions of the in-temporal-limbo Magmatron, who alerted Ravage and by extension Lio Convoy to Unicron's plan and enlightened Shokaract when the tyrant was temporarily shunted into Magmatron's personal purgatory. ===Cartoon continuity===
Unicron was evidently very active in this dimension at various points in time, although the precisely chronological placement of this activities are unclear.

At some undetermined point in the past of this universe, Unicron was approached by the survivors of Planet X, a world that had been destroyed in a war with the inhabitants of the Giant Planet, Gigantion. In return for the chance to gain revenge on Gigantion, the survivors swore loyalty to Unicron, and "Planet X" became something of a code-phrase that identified those in the service of the planet-eater.

Unicron's first attack on Cybertron in the present day was an indirect one, over a million years in the making, begun when he opted to disguise his dormant body as Cybertron's moon. From this secret vantage point, he implanted his own cells within the planet, where they germinated and grew into the small race of robots known as the Mini-Cons. Unicron hoped to use the Mini-Cons to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war, and feed off of the energies released in the conflict, but an encounter with a group of time-displaced human children planted the seed of sentience and free will within the Mini-Cons, who ultimately rebelled against their creator and fled Cybertron, crash-landing on the planet Earth. Origin

When the Mini-Cons were reawakened a million years later in 2010, they were detected by the Autobots and Decepticons, who followed their signal to Earth. First Encounter Unicron also picked up the signal, and dispatched his minion Sideways, an inhabitant of Planet X who would occasionally serve as an avatar for Unicron's spark, to carry on his work. Gale Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Con weapons, the Star Saber, the Skyboom shield and the Requiem Blaster, but eventually arranged for all three to be returned to Cybertron, where he stole them and used them to reawaken Unicron.

Shedding his moon disguise and transforming to robot mode, Unicron turned on Cybertron, only to be met with resistance in the form of the united armada of Autobots and Decepticons Alliance (episode), and his own Mini-Cons, who had linked together and formed a giant duplicate of his body. Union Now at full power, however, it was child's play for Unicron to exert control over his creations, and bring the Mini-Cons under his thumb once more. Again, it was thanks to the Autobots' human allies—the same children who had been sent back in time and given the Mini-Cons free will in the first place—that the Mini-Cons struggled free of Unicron's control, including the three Mini-Con weapons, who broke free and left Unicron's body deactivated. Believing the threat over, Galvatron then challenged Optimus Prime to their final battle, only for the hatred and ferocity of their fight to awake Unicron once more. To end the circle of hate that gave Unicron life, Galvatron allowed himself to be consumed by the monster, and in a brilliant flash of light, Unicron apparently ceased to exist. Mortal Combat
In truth, however, Unicron had survived, and for the next ten years, continued to consume planets in other regions of space. One such planet was the world known as Planet Q, whose inhabitants fought back by detonating the planet's core in Unicron's face. Badly damaged by the explosion, Unicron fell into a state of dormancy, but the life essence of the planet's ruler—the being who would come to be known as Alpha Q—continued to exist within him, and began a not-entirely-sane plan to use Unicron's powers to recreate everything the Chaos-Bringer had ever destroyed. Recreating the armies of Planet Q as "Terrorcons," Alpha Q had them attack Autobot facilities on Earth and throughout the solar system to gather the Energon that would be necessary for his plan to work.

Unbeknownst to Alpha Q, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and he slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. To escape Megatron's fury, Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body. The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.

Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. The Autobots made a valiant but futile attempt to stop him, but Unicron decimated them. Just as things seemed hopeless, a surge of power came that allowed Optimus-Supreme to grow to Unicron's size and powered up the other Autobots, and after a long and hard battle Optimus destroyed Unicron's body.

None of the Transformers were aware, however, that Unicron lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, floating in space, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudging, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservoir of "Super Energon" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure. After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron made the decision to plunge himself into the infant sun to rid himself of Unicron's possession. The super energon mass, having now received Unicron's spark, ignited into a powerful red sun which gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds. The Sun
Ramjet and Nemesis Prime were ultimately stopped by Vector Prime and allies Sentinel Maximus and Omega Prime, plucked from the midst of the Universe conflict by the multiverse-warping energies of the black hole. The Dead Matrix, however, taken by Unicron's servant Soundwave and cast into the heart of the black hole, freeing Unicron's spark, which entered the planet Yst and immediately began to sow chaos and disorder. Re-energized by the hatred and violence than ran rampant on Yst, Unicron formed a new, diminutive body for himself, born into the universe when Yst exploded.

During the time that followed, from behind the scenes Unicron orchestrated a civil war between the Mini-Cons stationed on Cybertron's moons. Revelations Part 4 When Sentinel Maximus led a team of Autobots to stamp out the escalating conflict, Unicron's involvement was revealed, but before he could achieve victory, Primus was reawakened, and the Dark God fled as Cybertron transformed into its robot mode. Revelations Part 6

After the Autobots defeated the Decepticons on Earth and had secured the majority of the Mini-Cons there, Unicron made his appearance above Cybertron, intent on destroying the planet. Optimus Prime's team of Autobots and the Mini-Cons returned home via a warp gate to see the Chaos Bringer unleash a wave of destruction upon the great cities of their planet. The Mini-Cons joined together to form the Matrix Cannon, the Vanguard Booster and the Nemesis Shield for the Autobots to use against Unicron. The Autobots flew into Unicron's maw and blasted their way into his energy core, damaging it enough to send Unicron spiralling out of control and destroying him. Transformers (Melbourne House)
Stockade and his Decepticon chums attempted to rebirth Cybertron by sending out a summons that would attract any entity related to the lost All Spark, and then drawing that entity into Cybertron once it arrived.

As that entity announced itself to be "Unicron the Anti-Life!", they felt like a right bunch of plonkers. Return to Cybertron: Part 2

Unicron moved swiftly, transforming Cybertron into a scarier looking physical form and causing the planet's surface to becoming hostile to the Transformers on it. Stockade's attempts at communication were met with contempt and a strange attack. The new Unicron then warped into the Sol system, shot down an Autobot shuttle, and went "OM NOM NOM" at the sight of Earth. Return to Cybertron: Part 3

The downed Autobots regrouped with Stockade's Decepticons and worked to take away the Nucleon that was powering Unicron's physical form. They succeeded in this by causing it to blow up and catch fire, which caused Unicron to draw on more Nucleon to recover, which fueled the fire and so on until the source ran out. Unicron disappeared, though whether he's dead or just gone is ambigious. Return to Cybertron: Part 4

Either way, the changes Unicron had made to Cybertron remained. The teleportation equipment he'd created was used by the Autobots to finally end the war. Transformers Comic issue 25
Trivia
* Before the Transformers brand even existed, Takara designer Hiroyuki Hataike drew up a "Planet-Robot" toy for the Microchange line, a design that would eventually inspire Unicron.

* In early preproduction for The Transformers: The Movie, Unicron was referred to as the Entity.

* A model sheet from later in the movie's preproduction revealed that, at one point, the planet Unicron would turn into the robot Ingestor. This idea was, obviously, dropped before the film's release.

* When Unicron exploded in the Marvel Comics continuity ("On the Edge of Extinction!"), the tear in existence his destruction caused resulted in creating the Classics universe. This splinter timeline began overwriting the Tonka Go-Bots universe. That's right. Unicron killed the Go-Bots.

The multiverse that Transformers inhabit sometimes interacts with the home multiverses of otherwise unaffiliated beings, such as the Avengers or the participants in the Star Wars. The collection of these multiverses could be deemed an omniverse, but there is no Transformers-based source for this.

However:
#Primus wishes to join the Omniversal Matrix when he has completed his cosmic mission.
#The Fallen has been classified as an "omniversal tyrant."

As the meaning of the word "omniversal" has not been defined for the Transformers universe, what these descriptors mean in terms of Primus and The Fallen falls into personal canon or fanon. Since the term "canon" itself means something different when used in relation to Transformers fiction versus other kinds of fiction, it's possible that "omniverse" and "omniversal" could also have special meaning in context with Transformers.
Sweeps are visually indistinguishable from Scourge himself, although Sweeps do not necessarily have identical voices. Although only a few are seen initially during Unicron's threat, there appears to be an inexhaustible supply of them later on. That's actually a good thing, as Galvatron tends to shoot them.

Two Sweeps were created by Unicron from the fallen Decepticons Shrapnel and Kickback, though seconds later there were suddenly more of them. They soon followed Galvatron to Autobot City, where one Sweep was destroyed by the Dinobots' fire-breath. The Autobots fled the city, but Galvatron's troops followed suit, and the Sweeps killed Ultra Magnus on the planet of Junk. The Transformers: The Movie

{{note|One of the great continuity problems within the G1 animated series concerns the minions of Unicron. Namely, Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps. The issue stems from the original script never specifying which Decepticons were thrown off Astrotrain and remade into Galvatron’s followers essentially rendering them generics. As the third season episodes were most likely made using the script and not the as-yet-unfinished film, the Insecticons regularly reappeared in later episodes as well as later on in the movie itself.
They eventually discovered him on the planet of Thrull, only to be attacked by their crazed leader. Galvatron sent every single Sweep crashing into the planet's plasma pits, and the only one that fought back did no damage whatsoever to his leader. They all survived, though, and followed Galvatron's commands after he regained his senses (kind of). Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2
One of them got shot in the face by Wheelie, and promptly crashed into a storm on the surface of Jupiter, screaming like a little girl all the way down. :Swindle is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Quick, hide the silver! An entrepreneur with few equals, the smooth-talking Swindle is always ready to make a deal. Trading extensively with many alien races and loaded down with their respective technologies, his goods are highly useful to interstellar warlords, bounty hunters, and many, many others. Though nominally a Decepticon, he just views the Cybertronian civil war as yet another business opportunity, one which has kept him living posh for centuries and could be great for his bottom line again now that it's starting back up.

:Voice actor: Fred Willard (English), Dieter Memel (German)

While Blitzwing was negotiating with Lockdown, he was interrupted by Lugnut, who was incensed that his comrade-in-arms would deal with bounty-hunting scum. Finding himself outgunned in this fight, Blitzwing was extremely lucky to find that Swindle had chosen that moment to pay a visit to the base on New Kaon. Providing the Triple Changer with enhanced weaponry (and a convenient payment plan), Swindle watched as the fight escalated. Each time, he was more than happy to provide each side with ever-increasing hardware, up to and including planetbuster weaponry. So much for New Kaon. Once the pair of Decepticons found out that Swindle was arming both of them, they took things up with customer service, leaving Swindle a fair bit worse for wear. But, he took it in stride. After all, the customer is always right. Everything Must Go

Swindle found out about the situation on Earth after a little business transaction with Lockdown. Upon his arrival, he made a deal with the newly formed Society of Ultimate Villainy: they'd steal components he needed, and he'd give them monetary compensation. He set the arrangement up anonymously, communicating with them through the radio in their new getaway vehicle, a present of sorts that he'd provided. When they had stolen the parts, he had them construct a generator. Sadly, the deal went sour when he asked Slo-Mo to hand over her AllSpark-powered timepiece. She refused, and he let them in on his little secret: He was the getaway vehicle.

He dispatched most of the SUV and used his force field (acquired in a deal with a race known as the Vok from Nexus Zero, nice folks) to protect himself from Slo-Mo's watch. He took it from her and contacted his old client Megatron. After a few pleasantries, he demonstrated the generator's ability to freeze everything mechanical in Detroit, including the Autobots. Unfortunately, before the deal could go through, a shielded Autobot and the SUV burst in and managed to knock him over the side of the parking block on which he had stationed himself. While he managed to reacquire the watch, he was frozen in his vehicle mode when a blast ricocheted off of the Autobot's shield. He was last seen being towed by the police, who promised to strip apart the paralyzed Decepticon and sell his insides at a police auction. Bloody hell! (The irony probably wasn't lost on him.) SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy

Swindle was later "apprehended" by Sentinel Prime... in that Sentinel paid a fine to the Detroit police department and had the still-stuck-in-vehicle-mode Decepticon towed to the Autobot ship. Five Servos of Doom He and almost all of the Earth-based Decepticons were transported as prisoners back to Cybertron. Predacons Rising

Since Swindle was mode-locked and offline, the Elite Guard simply parked him in their ship's brig, not taking care to secure him. This proved to be a mistake when an energy storm in space revived him. Swindle freed the other Decepticons, waiving the usual service charge as a sign of good faith to friends of his "best customer" Megatron. Swindle was able to use the numerous gadgets and weapons inside his own personal storage dimension to re-arm the Decepticons and defeat the Elite Guard--as well as accessorizing the Starscream clones so he could finally tell them apart. His Sonic Jammer 3000 got them through the Elite Guard's alarms and into the main bridge, plus handily incapacitated Jetfire and Jetstorm. After Jazz and Sentinel fell, Swindle convinced Lugnut to spare their lives for now, as not only would the prisoners make good bargaining chips, but Elite Guard parts could make them enough credits on the black market to retire to a beach island on Nebulos.

Unfortunately for the Decepticons, Sentinel Prime had managed to get a coded distress signal to Earth. The Earthbound Autobots were able to lock onto Swindle's private transwarp frequency and beam Optimus Prime right into Swindle's guts, giving them quite a surprise. Ordered by Lugnut to guard the prisoners while the rest chased after Optimus, Swindle instead took his time thoroughly looting the Elite Guard ship of as much valuable hardware as he could before making his getaway in an escape pod. Decepticon Air

Swindle travels extensively, to provide his customers spectacular bargains from the far corners of the universe. His trade route includes:

*The Vok of Nexus Zero, who manufacture superior force-field technology.
*The planet Andellor, who make an excellent anti-gravity cannon.
*Talos Four, manufacturers of the triple crusher cannon.
*The world of Torkulon, source of the spectacular decompression pump.
*The planet Dahros, which produces the amazing product that is glass gas.
*Menonia, source of the robotic panacea of "super glue."
*Quintessa, where he picked up the fantastic Sonic Jammer 3000 for a great price, as well as all the oil he could drink.
*Nebulos, where the energon is exceptionally smooth, and one can retire to live the good life on a tropical island.
*Pz-Zazz, where he visited the scenic fifth moon.

He has also obtained, by unknown means:

*Omega bombs, planet-busting weaponry presumably from the Quintessons
*Nemesis Shields to defend against said bombs, which are Mini-Con technology.
**Accessories: Large "Scatter blaster" gun, missile

: Part of the fifth wave of Animated Deluxes, Swindle transforms into an armored Humvee-styled vehicle with a roof-mounted cannon. This cannon mounts on his right arm in robot mode, and features a spring-loaded launching missile. The cannon also features an additional gimmick: when the missile is inserted into the cannon, the slits on the weapon change from a deep, clear purple (the same color used for the eyes, chest windows, upper arms and fingers) to a painted orange-red. He also features a flip-out Gatling gun in his midsection, as well as his twin over-shoulder double-blasters. The Gatling can be deployed in vehicle mode (and is even depicted on the cardback that way), but it rides so low that the front wheels won't touch the ground.

Notes
* Swindle made his appearance because Derrick J. Wyatt lobbied hard for him to show up.

* Swindle's design is quite heavily influenced by his Generation 1 namesake's animation character model, from the "squarehead" with large, purple optics to the windshield-chest with grill-stomach to the right-arm-mounted cannon which can be mounted on the back of his vehicle mode. As a result, Swindle is the first of only two Decepticons to not have red eyes in Animated.

* Swindle is a double-homage, as he also features a chest cannon that is quite similar to his movie namesake's.

* He also makes a reference to Binaltech Swindle, who possessed a force field because his body was meant to be Trailbreaker's, but couldn't use it. This Swindle doesn't have that issue.

* He has a bolo tie. That's awesome.

* Swindle also possesses a chest compartment which is capable of storing many, many things, such as weapons, Seeker accessories, and even an entire Autobot. Though, at first glance, this sounds virtually impossible, Swindle explains that he has a transwarp link to his own 'personal storage dimension' within this compartment.

* Derrick J. Wyatt has noted that Swindle's mannerisms are based on Ron Popeil. In fact, in "Everything Must Go", Swindle even uses Ron's signature catch-phrase "Now, how much would you pay?" (Coincidentally enough, "Weird Al" Yankovic has done a song about Popeil...)
